I love the feeling at this resort! It’s smaller and a little older than most, but the grounds are nicely taken care of by the friendly grounds keepers, who are always quick with a greeting and sometimes a flower! The staff in the restaurant are very helpful, Maurice is super friendly and quick to get us to our table and the two young men in our section were very attentive and charming.

This was our seventh time in this hotel. We love cabanas, beautifull grounds and fantastic beach. We noticed this time that there were a lot less shelters on the beach. We were surprised to find public bathrooms not being cleaned on regular bases and in terrible conditions by supper time. Our room was cleaned very well by the same cleaning lady we had the last time we stayed. The amount of entertainment was cut back a lot and quality was not on the level. It is hard to describe the availability and selection of food that was provided, not expectable by any standards. The enjoined good weather and worm water and wonderful staff that works hard, however will probably not be back to this hotel.

Hotel Los Cactus was Breezes Varadero. The Hotel still has alot of the same employees. Hard to believe they can be so kind and happy when they get paid almost nothing. Unfortunately before we left on Nov. 24th no one told us about the chikungunya mosquito disease outbreak. Many of my friends in Varadero had it when we were there. Some had been extremely sick since Sept 25. The staff at Los Cactus always treats us great. If I would have known about the outbreak we would not have gone.. We have never before had so many Russian people in Los Cactus. Probably about 75% Russian. They seem to be very LOUD and VERY DRUNK.. The Cuban government is not spending much on Los Cactus and could use a major facelift. The food although was fine, no power outages and lots of hot water. The rooms are cleaned well every day and the grounds are kept up to the best of their abillity. The Hotel was far superior when it was Breezes. Things are changing in Cuba.. Apparently Cuba is opening up to investment . Probably because they are broke. I believe Russians are there to payback a large debt. One way to recoup losses. I would NOT recommend right now. Wait til this disease gets under control.

Frankly a nice resort with a good balance of value and amenities. It’s walking distance to town of Varadero. Beach is terrific. Food decent for Cuba with plenty of fruit, eggs etc. Loved the espressos!

This resort is quiet, fun and most of all has the best staff!! And the best beach! If you are looking to relax and just have fun...this is the place to go. The rooms are older but clean, with working AC, and hot water. What keeps us going back? The friendly staff and just the best atmosphere! I would recommend this resort ?

The resort is small, but compact in size. This results in it being easy to meet new people. There is no single supplement fee, so many guests are older and single. We had lobster 2 times each week while I was there. The staff are always smiling and always willing to make your stay enjoyable. The rooms are over sized and clean, but outdated. I will be going back Doug

I didn't care to much for this resort. It was a large grounds with Russian tourists taking up half of the resort. The buffet was really bad, I found pebbles in the rice and beans, almost broke some teeth. Black birds eating and defecating in the buffet food. This hotel is now a cubanacan and little effort has been put into the resort. There was no evening shows and I saw no animation staff for my weeks stay. This is one resort to avoid

The room was clean and bright. There were bars everywhere for convenience. 3 meals a dat, served buffet style with lots of options. Grounds are well kept, and the beach was fantastic! The staff was extremely helpful and welcoming. I'm definitely going back!

we visited the los cactus hotel in jan 25 the hotel ground and beach are beautiful .the service try out the resort was excellent and beautiful large rooms . if you have the desire for a large amount of food like a cruise ship you may be a little disappointed however the food was tasty and clean and always serviced with a smile we have travelled many many times to many caribbean resorts and this will not be a disappointment if you realize you are in cuba and not in the maya mexico and you paid only 1/3 the cost to have the beautiful cuba people smile at you everyday

100% drop from my experience 2 years ago. Staff still fantastic, as were the rooms . Sanitation or lack thereof is another story, however, given the 80% occupancy of absolute animals from a certain powerhouse from oversees, this can be expected. These people, men and women, drank double shots of rum or whatever they could get their mouth around, morning till 3-4am, resulting in many fistfights and harassment of my group and fellow Canadians. We will not return until they find a new vacation spot to piratize. Feel free to contact me for details.

Dirty and unkept throughout (except for the newly renovated reception area). The pool liner and steps were ripped out, leaving just dangerous bolts and liner remnants in all corners. Entering and leaving the pool via the steep ladders was very hard for older people and people with disabilities. All hot tubs/whirl pools were broken and empty. Very sharp pieces of beach chairs (the foot stoppers) were strewn around the pool, injuring your feet. Garbage around the pool was not removed for the entire week. The beach was full of debris and dirt for almost the whole week. In former years, the beach was cleaned every morning. The ripped down beach bar is still not rebuilt. It’s just an eyesore. Dirt in the room was mopped into the corner. The food was terrible!: no eggs, no butter, no jam, no coffee, coffee bar closed, watered down juices, unripe fruit, no cola, no wine, no champagne, no tonic, no mojitos, no Cuba libres…!!! The a la carte restaurants both had the same horrible menu!: bruschetta with no tomatoes, tomato cream soup with no tomato, salmon burnt with all bones, and chicken. If you are selling vacations to Cuban resorts, you as the tour operator, have to make sure, that there is sufficient food and drink provided! SunWing raises the prices every year, but the service goes down.

My wife and I just returned from an 11 day stay at Los Cactus. It was our first time at this resort, and had been recommended by several friends that have been vacationing there for many years. We have been to Cuba and Varadero many times in the past and were pleasantly surprised with this resort, the layout, staff, beach, etc. The staff at this resort are truly amazing and they really go out of their way to make your stay a great experience. We always say that you don't go to Cuba for the food, but we ate lobster 5 times during our stay there! My wife loved the pasta bar and the A la Carte's were great! Cuba is having some food supply issues (eggs, beef, condiments) and we did enquire with other vacationers that stayed at many other resorts and it became clear that most resorts seem to be having some supply issues. We also determined that the price to stay at this resort was much cheaper than many other resorts in the area, and for you golfers, golf is included in your stay at Los Cactus, so we golfed several times at the Varadero Golf Course, overlooking the ocean. We went into Veradero several times, many markets and restaurants to include the Varadero 60 (make a reservation), great venue and menu, highly recommended, 3 piece classic rock band, amazing food and service. We also went into Cardenas by taxi (25 minute ride) and ate at a fantastic restaurant there too. A great night at the Beatles bar in Varadero, this is a don't miss for anyone wanting a "fun night on the town", and meeting many other Canadians having a great time. As mentioned in other reviews, there are Russians vacationing at this resort (separate buildings), and all the other resorts in Cuba. It came to our attention that they are getting reduced pricing from the Cuban government. We met some very nice Russian people, and others we chose to not to meet, no different than how we choose to socialize with people from other countries. A big thanks to all the staff at Los Cactus for all your hard work, your endless smiles and friendship. We would definitely return to Los Cactus, and look forward to coming back. The Los Cactus is a 4 star resort, and the staff are 6 star, so we feel totally comfortable giving this resort a 5 star rating.

It was good two week at Los Cactus. Was our second time at resort, and if we go agin to Cuba, that’s the place we go. Staff was amazing and frendly. We celebrated our wedding anniversary, first thing Lisebeth from guest relations came to our room with bottle of wine and resarvation to Cuba restaurant for anniversary dinner. She made that we have good time. Beach and grounds arecamazig. Only complain is internet service. Is verry slow and hard to conect.

What a wonderful stay we had at this resort! This was my 12th time at Los Cactus and it did not disappoint. The improvements they have made to the resort is impressive with a freshened up main building and work in progress all over the resort. The grounds were always neat and tidy, pool and beach so clean too. Lots of food and no shortages that affected our stay. Best surprise at the buffet were Canadian apples displayed so nicely and delicious and fresh! And the part that keeps us coming back to this special place is the people at the resort who work so hard to make guests happy. They are friendly, helpful, warm and hospitable people! Thank you Los Cactus for once again making this a great trip!

As always the staff at los cactus goes above and beyond to making sure your stay is the best it can be. The ongoing problem of having access to food has become critical in cuba since covid but the kitchen was always trying their best to try to keep everyone happy. Resort was only 30% full so quiet but the shows still continued. Shout out to all staff who are magicians at making the best out of little and staying positive despite cuts in their hours.

I have been in this hotel 2 times before Covid and now it’s way different. There are very few entertainment programs and activities, the music ends at 11-12 pm, as for food, this is a separate issue. The hotel and staff are very good and friendly. Clean and large rooms.

Been to this resort 17 times, things have changed. Not for the good, didn't get the room i paid for, got a room overlooking the next door resorts service entrance and stinking garbage bins. Stayed one night got another room next morning, paid extra that room air conditioner quit in the middle of the night, next room, couldn't find the remote for the ac,4th room was perfect. Don't know why i was treated like this when there was less than 100 guests in the whole place, don't think that i will return unless things improve.

I booked a super select run of the house garden view suite, my first room was a view of the next hotels garbage bins, got moved to a "premium room" for more money AC failed in the middle of the night, next room, couldn't find the remote for the AC, final room was great something I should have gotten in the first place its Sunday after by now and there were only about 100 guests. This was my 17th stay at this resort and maybe my last.

Very nice hotel, good service enjoyed our stay! Amazing beach , quiet place good to relax . Food like everywhere in Cuba but we went there for sun and beach and we were not desaponted. Plus it was only adults.

Grounds are not maintained, needs major overhaul. Buffet restaurant needs to meet basic hygiene regulations, flies all over food, cats roaming around waiting to jump up to take leftover food. No butter, condiments, salt & pepper scarce and had to be requested. Food and alcohol shortages every day, different items not available on different days. Pool liner needs replacing, beach shower broke and was not repaired. Rooms were clean and resort staff worked hard to make sure you enjoyed your stay.

It was one of the best vacation my husband and I ever had we went to Be LIve Adults Only Los Cactus for my birthday the staff was amazing friendly and so warm they know you by name and that make me feel at home.Paul went and plan a surprise romantic dinner for my husband and I that was the best gift for my birthday. I highly recommended going to the hotel it is one of the best my rating I would give it a ten I will be going back with my friends next year. I miss the friendly staff beautiful beach ,the entertainment and the food. Well spent vacation thank you all.

We've been to Be Live Adults Only Los Cactus four times over the last 7 years. This was our first trip back since Covid and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Here are few thoughts: 1) The beach is amazing! If you enjoy walking the beach, this is the place for you. You can walk forever! If you enjoy floating in the water, this is the place for you too! The swimming area is sandy (you don't need any beach shoes) and unless there is a storm, easy to get in and out of the water. 2) Room - we were in the Gardenview Suite that overlooked the pool. It was very nice, close to everything, and had a nice balcony. The bed was comfortable, we had an extra side room (that we did not use), the TV worked fine as did the AC and we always had hot water. There was a small fridge in the room, a safe with a key, extra pillows, and plenty of room. Because we overlooked the pool, we could hear the show from about 9 - 10 or so but after that it was very quiet. No problems at all. 3) We had heard that there were issues with supplies (i.e. for food and drink) and while there were some things missing from previous years (i.e. pasta bar and a few mixes for drinks - tonic, but I only heard that from someone else) we certainly did not go hungry. There was always fresh fish and at least one of pork, chicken or beef to choose from. Fresh salad was available every meal, the bread/buns are delicious!, tomato and rice (to replace the pasta bar) was better than I thought it would be, and each morning you had the option of omelette/egg bar and/or pancake/waffle type bar. Ice cream was available every lunch and dinner as were the usual variety of pastries etc. 4) The resort was about half full - this was during the March Break (11 - 18th) and as a result, there were no issues getting beach chairs etc. Plenty of room to get lounge chairs with shade. 5) Workers were pleasant and helpful. Always smiling and doing their best to make us happy. 6) We were a couple but this did not seem like the place to go if you are looking to meet up with other single people. Could be wrong, but it seemed like it was mostly couples and seniors.

The resort was wonderful and we had a great time. I was mostly impressed that they fogged for mosquitoes which I am allergic to the very tiny ones called noseeum. We only wished that the hot tubs were a little bit warmer for at night and that the little coffee café would open in the morning. Overall everything was fantastic.

The room was clean and quite spacious with great natural light, the staff were so helpful and very kind ! The food was decent and the amenities were good too, I particularly enjoyed the private beach.

This is my fifth time being there, and I will continue to go. The staff are helpful. The landscape is lovely and so is the beach. Some of the rooms look old and we did not always have hot water but they tried to accomodate our requests.

Small resort, I guess around 200 rooms, old but well-kept and clean. Amazing staff, food is good with variety. Light evening entertainment included. I guess due to the lesser number of rooms, they are able to look after the guests in a better way. No food shortages was felt, plenty of meats, seafood, veggies etc., unlike in the big resorts some didn't have butter and cheese.

Clean, amazing staff, beautiful beach, great drinks, Air Supply, and 3 meals a day! I had an awesome time at Los Cactus! I traveled there alone and ended up meeting some incredible people. I highly recommend spending time here.

Beautiful beaches, excellent staff, great weather, clean rooms. This resort is very meticulous for Covid-19 awareness. This was not our first trip to Cuba so luxuries are non-existent and some shortages were expected. The two year closure of all the resorts in Cuba has deprived the country of much-needed capital for restocking and recovery. We will return again, but I don't recommend Cuba for a first time traveler.

I have been to Cuba previously a few times, I have always loved it and the people, also with the understanding that the food and availability of products isn't great, so I always rolled with it. WOW have things changed, the pool liner at the resort was in a dreadful state, bleached white and falling off everywhere, staff were eating at the buffet at the same time with the guests (in any country that's a bit odd) Guests with no bracelets- I ended up beside a few drunken 16-year-olds at dinner and at the pool trying to relax. Lots of staff asking all of the tourists to get them food, it is sad- they are without, and I took tons of product to leave and tipped well but even then, some of the staff wouldn't help you until they finished their conversations- they turn their back to you, I was disappointed and truthfully it no doubt will be my last trip to Cuba

This was my 3rd time to this resort -- I found it was very typical to have repeat guests here. Amazing people and beach. The other guests were all very happy, friendly and easy to talk to. The food was on par with other Cuban resorts -- healthy and fine by us but limited to what Cuba can offer. I look forward to returning next year.

I write this review having stayed in Cuba several times including Varadero. I am well aware of the quality of food but this hotel is sub par even by Cuban standards. The buffet is open air with no air conditioning. Birds fly in and out, bird poop on the chairs, birds walk on and peck at the food (not only on the tables but at the buffet too). By 7pm when the buffet opens for dinner, it is very warm to the point you can see the desserts melting. We like to do the al a carte restaurants but the first dinner we had in the Italian Restaurant, the air conditioning was not working and I felt ill because of the heat. Speaking of a la carte restaurants, there are only 2 (the Italian is very good, the Cuban is not) and you can only book an a la carte one day in advance and you can also only get one 7pm seating (earliest they open) per week. You can book again if there is availability but only for 8pm seatings or later. If you always want to eat in the restaurants, you have to be at the reservation place every day at 3pm to book for next day. That in itself is a hassle. We booked for 10 days and the first 5 days the buffet was horrible....hardly and choices ie only one fresh fruit to choose from, no butter most days (although their bread was exceptional). At breakfast they would put pancakes, french toast etc on platters that were not heated so they were always hard and cold. The hot food (meats, veg) they put out was also placed on non heated surfaces so that was always cold too (or as cold as it could get in no air conditioning) The choices at the buffet did get better by day 5 or so as the resort seemed to be busier. This resort also hosts conventions. They hosted Cuban doctors when we were there. These doctors waited at the buffet with their baggies in hand and the second it opened they cleared out almost all the desserts and the bread (before they got their meals). This happened for 2 days for breakfast, lunch and dinner. When they left (and after a lot of complaints) they placed staff to watch over the food. The doctors were also attended to very well by the staff in the buffet area while I was constantly looking for someone to get some water at my table. The bars were constantly running out of certain types of liquor ie Coconut Rum. Varadero beach is beautiful but I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the beach part that Los Cactus has. There was garbage (even a huge tire half buried in the sand which a couple of vacationers dug out) all over the area. There was only one garbage can so I guess everyone just left their trash (which was never once cleaned up during my 10 day stay). I could not walk anywhere (except close to the water) without stepping on garbage, plastic and cigarette butts Every picture of the beach I took has some sort of garbage in it (unless I was in front of some other hotel). Every other hotel I have stayed at in Cuba has cleaned their beaches but not here. One entrance to the beach must have had a fire at some point so when you walk on the sand to get to the beach, your feet are covered in black because of all the charcoal bits in the sand. They did have security on the beach which was nice and we felt comfortable leaving things on our loungers as we swam or went to eat. Only twice did someone come around to get the sand off the loungers (a usual morning practice at other hotels). We did enjoy the large shade structures on the beach. The pool was big but the liner was ripped in many places and coming away from the bottom of the pool. The original room we were given was horrible...super dated and dirty. Luckily it did not have the bed we were supposed to get so they moved us to another room. Again, super dirty (stains on walls, stains in tub, broken tiles everywhere, stained bedspread) but luckily the air conditioning did not work so they upgraded us. The upgrade was lovely with very nice views of the water and pool. Housekeeping staff is exceptional. The staff was wonderful (only exception was in the buffet when Cuban doctors were there and paying patrons became invisible). The entertainment was typical for Cuba and they did offer a lot of it including dancing/singing during lunch and by the pool which was very nice. The singers were quite good. The public washrooms at the hotel were exceptional. They were kept very clean as were the common areas in the hotel. The landscaping is lacking but they did weed all the empty planters (which are many) just before the Doctors came for the convention. We would not return to the hotel.

Cannot say enough good things about it. The resort was in a great location, close to the golf course and close to Varadero downtown. The beach is stunning, our room was huge and clean. The staff was so friendly and accommodating -the most wonderful people we have met in a long time.The buffet had a large variety of tasty food, many nights they had themes. Great entertainment throughout the day and night. We will be back.

This resort like most of Cuba had some shortages but nothing that influenced my stay. Some of the areas are dated but my room was large, clean and fully functional. The maid service and all staff are exceptionally friendly. The beach is also exceptional. Nightly entertainment was mostly dance and singing but were also impressive. The disco was closed and some renovations in progress but no disruption of service. Access to town is easy either by taxi or bus that passes the front entrance. Went with male friends and all were generally very happy. If you haven't been to Cuba expectations need to be managed. We received everything we expected and more!

Overall: The resort is decent enough to have a relaxing vacation. The crowd is mostly older people and not so many young people and as a result the vibes of the resort are more calm and slow. In terms of luxury, the resort is nothing insane. Amenities: The gym and games room is usually empty but they have lots of equipment if you decide to use them. The pool is a great place to relax and there's always music playing so it's nice. The jacuzzi's were never warm enough to enjoy so I barely used them. Activities: There are shows everyday. I enjoyed the dances. They are very entertaining to watch. There's also daily bingo which is fun if you're into it. If you go to the beach, there is a water activities stand. There you can go for kayaking, snorkelling and a bunch of other stuff. We did the snorkelling and it was very worth it. They take you out on a catamaran and you snorkel for as long as you want. It was only $40 CAD/person which beats the price of doing it through the excursion which is $100 CAD/person. Also we didn't know how to swim and it was still lots of fun! Food: The buffet food is subpar. It's good enough so that you don't starve. Definitely go at the beginning of the meal time so you get fresh, hot food because by the end everything is cold and most of the good stuff is run out. Luckily, there's lots of options for food since it's a buffet. The Cuban restaurant ran out of all the good dishes in the first hour so we had to settle for some other dishes but these were still better than the buffet dishes. The International/Italian restaurant served the best food on the resort. Highly recommend reserving this restaurant if you go. Drinks: There are plenty of spots to go for drinks at this resort. The drinks here are good enough. They aren't watered down. Near the end of the night they will start running out of stuff but it wasn't too big of an issue for us. Beach: The beach is amazing. It's kept clean and there's lots of space to relax. Staff: The staff at the resort are amazing. All the chefs, waiters, receptionists, maids and bartenders we encountered were so friendly to us. Make sure to give money for tips because they deserve it.

Overall nice room, food, and entertainment, good value for the relatively low price. Fun shows every night, cool daytime excursions to Havana, near the beautiful Varadero beach. However, we didn't have hot water in our shower, and were not given the free bottle of rum originally advertised. The room also does not have any coffee despite it being advertised on the booking site. The food in the main food hall is bland, but if you make reservations at the resort restaurant (reservations are limited to only 2 a week), the food is good. Our air conditioner worked but it was extremely loud, it was dripping a questionable brown liquid and had pieces falling out of it, and it made a loud chainsaw sound in the middle of the night.

This is my third trip here. The beach is lovely. The resort is spotless. The food is good. The Chef will make you a special meal, like 'Cordon Blue'. And the people are truly wonderful. I have been to Cuba at least 20 times and I will keep going back.

This was my third time at Los Cactus. I came back because I love everything about this resort! It’s a little older than other resorts I’ve been to, but the staff is so helpful and friendly, the resort and rooms are kept so well, and the rooms so clean, I feel so safe staying there. I also love the size of the property, and look forward to seeing the planned renovations on my next visit. You could tell by the selection at the buffet and a la carte restaurants that food availability is a challenge since Covid, but the chefs are creative and I enjoyed every meal I had. I’m a golfer so I was disappointed about the golf cart availability after the accident at the golf course, with a call from the hotel guest services explaining our needs the golf course was able to help us get a cart for all of our rounds of golf. The beach the pool and cocktails all great! I had a wonderful vacation.

Absolutely beautiful resort property, gorgeous plants, trees etc. Gardeners work hard to keep it nice! Hotel getting upgrades currently which hopefully update more. Rooms are comfortable, staff is the BEST! Of 3 resorts I've been to, this one I keep going back. Food was better than average Cuban. Definitely repeat foods but so much variety there's always more than enough. If you're traveling for the food, you may want to pass, but the beauty, the beach and staff are just the best!!

This is our 18th stay at this resort. Our expectations are in balance with the standards of resorts in Cuba. The staff at Los Cactus are very diligent with cleaning in response to Covid. We experienced no concerns with the sanitary conditions. The economy in Cuba and the small number of guests caused some reduction in serving staff, entertainment and selection at the buffet. The staff are courteous and helpful beyond any other resort we have visited. This is what keeps us coming back to this place.

This hotel is very dated but kept very clean. The food is basic and the main downfall of this resort. The rooms are large but old. The staff is great. The shortages in Cuba are very evident here. We got what we expected for the price we paid. In my opinion this is a typical 3.5 star in Varadero. I will probably not return here mainly because of the food but i think it is worth what they are charging.

This is my 18 visit to the island, never thinking of visiting Los Cactus, big mistake, the resort is AMAZING, best rooms i get in years, service is great like allways in Cuba, very clean inside and out, 24 h pool tables and pingpong, tenis court, piano bar, the pool is bigggg, i recomended to check it out, i am back in March for sure.

We spent a total of 14 weeks there in the November to June period. Many changes have taken place, as the country recovers from covid 19. WE go there for 4 primary reasons, the staff, beach, weather and golf. The accommodation is fair, the price is fair. There are many hotels in Varadero with varying services and are priced accordingly The food and beverages change constantly one week good another week no so good. Our perspective if we get bored with the food we go into town for a meal. My wife and I wouldn't spend so much time there if we didn't enjoy the experience, what else can I say.

Staff is terrific. Beach is WOW. Water was great. Food was very good. Rooms and maids are great. We always get a suite overlooking the Ocean. Not many Canadians at this time of Year. Met alot of Nice Cubans on 3-4 day holidays. They have a bit of catching up to do at both the Hotel and at Varadero Golf. It was totally shut for 2 1/2 years. They are trying. Only one downfall at this time of year. MOSQUITOS. Al

This is a very nice resort. The rooms were clean and spacious, the grounds were well maintained. There were plenty of paths through the grounds to enjoy the beautiful plants and flowers and the beach was beautiful. The food was good with a lot of choices and all of the servers and wait staff were very friendly and helpful in fact all of the staff at the hotel were friendly and welcoming. I would have no problem recommending this to my friends and family, in fact I am already coming for another 2 weeks this March. Can't wait.

After being closed for many months we were excited to be back again for 3 weeks. The employees were as always respectful to our needs, the hotel grounds do need some work but with the number of trees it is an ongoing task. The rooms we stayed in were clean and functional. The beach was terrific, white sand & aqua water what a site for sore eyes. This is not a 5 star resort but staff is friendly, the food is excellent, the liquors good and the wine poor. We will never stay anywhere else in Cuba.

Be Live adult only Los Cactus has the most welcoming vibe. It’s super comfortable, maybe not the newest, and that might be why it is so relaxed and friendly. The staff knows what they are doing and are helpful, respectful and friendly. It’s Cuba so the food is different, and I completely enjoyed every meal I had. The resort is the perfect size, nothing is too far away. Bars and restaurants are all good and very well run. I love the safe, clean, friendly feeling we had on this vacation!

Grounds were clean, staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. Food was bland and the same choices everyday in the buffet. Room on the other hand, not so appealing. Large section of mold on the bathroom ceiling, constant drip of water ran down the wall from that section in the ceiling wetting the floor. Told the front desk but they couldn't move me rooms and did nothing to make it more acceptable. Found a bug in my bed, housekeeping didn't replenish much other than bottles of water. Not enough activities around the resort. One disco which was only open for 3hrs at most if at all,. Spoke to returning travellers and they said it had hugely diminished in quality over the years. I won't recommend. Hugely Disappointed in my first Resort stay ever.

The food was typical Cuban food . You could always find something to eat. Workers were very helpful . Resort was clean. Our maid was amazing. she helped us with places to go . phone calls . places to eat I would go back . Things to note, they do not stock your fridge every day with beer or rum if this is important to you. Over all a great trip.

We have stayed at this hotel 8 times. We also book the gardenview suites. The staff is excellent. The food is average as is expected in Cuba. They run out of things but usually arrive again a few days later. The beach is spectacular and pool is nice too.

this is a very big resort....grounds are well maintained ....rooms are kinda old...needs lot of improvements for sure a painting job...great coffee bar,too bad is opening at 3 pm....food it s always the same and waiters are very friendly....most beautiful thing is the beach ,fine sand and clear water....will be back

Standard overall hotel. The rooms were a little run down, needed a good clean. I think because of the dampness in the air things like the sheets felt and smelled a little mouldy. The buffet restaurant didn’t have enough tables or staff to accommodate the number of guests. If you arrived late to meals it was hard to find a clean table. There was at times a shortage of certain food items and beverages and some of the food was too salty. Loved the coffee bar -best specialty coffees. Most of the staff were pleasant. Some of the activities were later than their specified times or didn’t happen at all. The beach was great only sometimes not enough beach chairs available or trees for shade. I enjoyed my week overall and think for the amount paid it was worth it.

the resort was good ....pool beautiful,rooms good ,everything one needs,few hicupps ....grounds need some improvement ....but staff wonderful like this resort because it is only 2 storey ...one area is 3 floors ....

I enjoy this hotel mainly that we can golf. The grounds are kept well and clean. The food was good. The bathrooms not so clean. I enjoy going to this resort as the staff are friendly kind and very efficient. The resort Never had wine most days. We had to buy it in the gift shop. They should have a notice explaining the reason for only having a few bottles a day instead of us asking all the time. We have been to Los Cactus 5 times. We paid more to upgrade our room to a suite.

Positive: beautiful beach , lots of long term friendly staff , junior suites building smells moldy , but garden suites nice and spacious, we were in I block loved the location , golf course close by, coupon for golf offered by resort..Great coffee bar outside Cuban restaurant minor updates visible Negative: public bathrooms frequently ran out of toilet paper and cleaning limited especially in junior suite building outside Martino’s restaurant it was gross . Lighting in walkways at night very poor, many lights fused. Ran out of wine daily before even lunch or none at all even in al la carte restaurant, no tonic water for drinks, we had to purchase bottles of wine in the gift shop , as we only really drink wine or maybe a gin and tonic, shortage blamed on embargo, ran out plates for days then butter for 5 days days , never refilled fridge even staying for 2 weeks Many repeaters and long term stay people, so very popular resort, and quite the repeaters group here Will I return most likely as despite it all I love this resort..

The Junior suite building that we stayed in smelled of mould and so did our room. There is a nice long beach to walk for miles and one large clean pool. The food was so so. The staff at the bars were friendly and also the cooks. Great entertainment on resort. Take a ride into town . Sunny every day . With a smaller resort we met lots of people.

The property itself was very clean and maintained. The food was mediocre and they seemed to have ran out of a lot of options. Most of the staff were friendly and welcoming. We only spent 3 days so didn’t get to experience much of what the resort offered in terms of activities. Overall it was a decent place to stay for a short getaway.

Important : Bar close to a beautiful beach and Friendly staff , this combined with good entertainment made for a great vacation. The dancers were incredible. Good food , but tone down your expectations this is Cuba and the shelves are empty for the Locals.

I'll try to be as fair as possible because I did have a good time but there were some bad things too. I've been to Varadero before at another resort so I knew not to expect too much going into it. We had the garden view suite which was nice, spacious, the bed was huge and there was a little sitting room with a coffee maker, 2 water bottles, and 2 beers in the mini fridge (they change the water bottle when they clean the room). The AC wasn't the most powerful but good enough to keep you cool at night. There was also a small patio with a couple chairs where you can sit and smoke a cigars. The hotel is nicely laid out and clean, the pool is big and really nice surrounded by lounge chairs. There is a snack bar with burgers and hot dogs for when you get hungry between meals (the burgers are really good!). There are 3 bars that I saw, 1 at the lobby, 1 by the pool and 1 by the beach. The bartenders were nice and cheerful (of course they're even nicer when you tip them), and they know how to mix good drinks! I suggest bring one of those big cups with a lid and straw that you can buy at the dollar store before you go so you're not using their little disposable plastic cups every time you get a drink, they'll fill it right up for you, it'll stay cold for longer, and you can get more in one go than you would from their cups. The dining area was really nice and big. The food was decent, some really good, some pretty meh, and a couple times there were some salads that tasted like they were going bad, but overall I liked the food. There was some decent variety during every meal though a lot of it was the same every time. The servers were mostly really nice and may stop to chat with you when its not too busy. There's cats that wander into the dining area which most people seemed to think it was charming and would give them bits of food here and there, they don't pester you or try to steal your food, they mostly just hang out, my girlfriend thought it was adorable though I had to keep reminding her not to pet them because you don't know where they've been lol. The highlight for me was the beach! Lazy chairs all along with some "beds", big palm leaf umbrellas for shade, the sand is white sand and super smooth, the water has small waves that are fun to splash around in. I spent the majority of my time laying on a lazy chair sipping piña coladas or rum and cokes. The atmosphere at the resort is really chill and its nice that there's no kids running around screaming. There was some live music during meals at the dining area from time to time, really talented musicians which was really appreciated. They also play music by the beach bar during the day though I wish they would have more variety than "La vida es un carnaval" by Celia Cruz, and endless versions of Guantanamera. As for the bad, it ranged from mildly inconvenient, to annoying, to just unacceptable. Our shower curtain kept falling off because it wasn't screwed to the wall. Most of the bathroom stalls throughout the resort had broken doors (as in they either didn't close all the way or there was no latch to keep it closed). The power outlets in the rooms are the kind that only have 2 prongs, my laptop charger has 3 but we found that there was this electrical converter box (I don't know what the technical term would be) that is used to connect the mini fridge as the power cord on the fridge is 3 pronged, so I would use that to charge my laptop, though I don't know if its the same in every room. Some of the staff was really rude and I don't understand how they work in the hospitality industry. The worst experience I had though was one night when we called the lobby for a couple of towels, we had been out all day and kept the "do not disturb" sign on the door while we were out because we didn't feel like we needed the room cleaned that day. We called the lobby around 8pm to ask for a couple of clean towels. 15 minutes went by and still no towels, I called the lobby to ask what was happening and I got a really terse "ok I'll tell them again" response from the lobby. Another 15 went by, at this point we realized there was a puddle of water on the floor by the bed coming from a closet. We opened the closet and it was full of black mold and a mess of hoses, one of the hoses was dripping water so we put a towel underneath for the time being. I called the lobby again to tell them about it and they just assumed I was calling about the towels so before I even said anything she said that they would tell the maid about the towels again, I had to cut her off before she hung up to tell her about the leak. She sounded like she couldn't care less and said she would send someone. Again another 15 went by and I called them again, at this point I'm really annoyed because we just want to get on with our night but we have to wait for them to come, how hard is it to bring over a couple of towels! Finally AN HOUR after we first called for the towels they show up, I told the girl that brought them that what had taken so long and she said something along the lines of "well if you want your towels changed you shouldn't leave the "do not disturb" sign on"... which was completely irrelevant to me asking for towels now! Anyways after multiple calls and the maid radioing them about the leak, the repair man finally showed up, I'm assuming he didn't speak English because another maid came with him to translate (I speak Spanish so I spoke with them in Spanish), at no point did the repair man say hello or acknowledge i was there, and the maid looked like she was annoyed by all this, as if I was being a bother. The whole time she didn't say anything to us, she had her arms crossed and had her knee on the bed while the repair man looked at the leak. It turned out it was some kind of condensation coming from the AC which he drained and left, then the maid came back with a mop and mopped up the water and left, closing the door behind her. They had left the door to the closet open and the towel on the floor. I went outside to ask them if they were done and they said yes, I told them "well you could have at least told us!" and closed the door on them. That ruined the rest of my night because of how mad I was at the poor service and their attitude. The next day the hose was dripping again so we put a towel under it. I called the lobby to tell them and they said they would send someone, we left to go to the beach assuming they would fix it while we were out but when we came back there was no sign anyone had been there and the drip continued. At this point we just gave up and put a towel under the drip and left it. So all in all this is a nice hotel but there's things they can do to improve which shouldn't take too much effort, you would expect to be able to close a bathroom stall at a 4 star hotel when all it would take to fix would be installing a new latch. Most of all, the quality of service and attitude from staff is what put a damper on my experience. I would personally not come back here just because there are a lot of other resorts in the area to choose from, but who knows, maybe your experience will be different.

This was our second time at this resort and we had another wonderful time. It is a smaller resort so it is not crowded. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Situated on a beautiful beach with direct access to the ocean. Lots of loungers, umbrellas and cabanas. We really enjoy our time here. Food is ok, you can certainly find something to eat. You can not compare it to our food at home but hey it is Cuba. We are looking forward to going back in the near future.

Great visit to Los Cactus from Dec 9th until Dec 16th in a Suite, large size room must of been recently renovated, two sofas in seating area, sun patio, very comfortable bed, great AC, coffee making area and fridge with water and soft drinks. Found the buffet food selection to be repetitious but quality and quantity was excellent. Never had trouble finding something different to eat each day, and the grill and pasta counters were awesome. Good selection of vegetables each sitting (even spouts!!), together with a salad counter. The two a la cartes, Italian and Cuban were excellent, an had no trouble booking our preferred dates and times. All our party put on a few pounds during our stay. The beach was amazing, soft white sand with warm waters, although two days we had yellow flags, the ocean was very swimmable and enticing. Never had difficulty finding 3 beds with an straw umbrella. The gardens were lovely and vast, and the different sunbathing areas around the pool were very good, never any difficulty finding beds. The different bar areas were also lovely, and never overcrowded. The staff were amazing, always attentive and on hand to get whatever you required, and always looking to chat and add to your experience. Reception answered all my questions, and helped in providing a taxi for a day trip to Havana with a very good english speaking guide. The evening entertainment was varied, every night was a different show, and we enjoyed the music quiz and magic show. The resort was a 30 minute walk from downtown, and a 5 minute walk from the hop on hop off bus, which for $5 all day fee is a great way to get round the resort and out to the Marina. For a first time in Cuba, I would return to this resort, as I think I got my monies worth for the price I paid ($670), and enjoyed a very relaxing stay.

This was my 8th time to this resort and I return because of the all around great experience every time. The entire staff are always so warm, friendly and eager to please! The rooms are comfortable, the buffet keeps improving, the hotel grounds and the buildings are clean and well kept! This will be my shangri-la forever! Excellent work everyone!

The staff is wonderful and you can’t get a better beach and beautiful water. But that’s it. Food at the buffet is cold and is a food poisoning disaster waiting to happen. There also wasn’t a lot of food. They ran out of wine and vodka. We are repeat customers and now that it has new owners we had to pay extra upon arrival to stay in any room other that the ones in the building. Apparently they do this to everyone. They said we were staying in the renovated rooms which was inaccurate. Our extremely old air conditioner did not work nor did our toilet. We return to this hotel for the staff but we really have to question if we would go back because it’s gone way down hill. The pool is really really really old.

This was our 3rd visit this year and we plan on repeating that next year. We consider the resort to be our hone away from home. As usual the staff were very accommodating, friendly and respectfull. There is always room for improvement though, to highlight a few areas that could be better, the grounds are not very well lit, with numerous lights out on the walkways. Yes they are replacing lights but to me it should be priorized over Christmas decorations. Frankly I am tired of hearing the "embargo is responsible" it seems to be a catch all for a variety of problems. All I can say to that is other resorts seem to have sufficent lighting. The hot tubs are never hotter than luke warm, they look good but should be set at a higher temperature. Our room was good as usual but replacement shower heads would improve my rating. Food, well that remains a problem in the Buffet area. The variety just isn't there, I just can't eat pork every day. The beef wasn't too bad but not served very often. Chicken is okay but served poorly, ie the chicken is hacked into pieces rather than serving sliced or boneless. Pasta okay served warm at best . Breakfast okay but I don't consider sliced hot dogs and hamburger meat as breakfast items. Bacon wasn't served as I know it just slices of fat with a little ham on it. The omelettes are very good, Take your own tobasco or hot sauce to add some spice as most Cuban food is bland. Not to forget the 2 a la cartes are great The Itailan restaurant serves an excellent filet mignon and lasagna, the Cuban restaurant was also quite good, shrimps, pineapple chicken pork etc Entertainment was good, the pool clean but cold, the sauna hasn't worked for years but you can still get a good massage. The fitness area is okay but not much equipment working. Basketball court is great the tennis courts need some repair and for golfers the course is handy opposite the hotel. The beach is spectacular, clean white sand, the water is warm and very inviting, lots of equipment, paddle boats, sail boats, kayaks etc, beach volleyball and so on. We had a great time and are looking forward to going again in January, if the food is not to our liking we go into Varadero where a variety of restaurants thrive. I would recommend Varadero 60 for a night out just a 7-10 cuc cab ride away. 30 visits and still going if that tells you anything!

Grounds were unkempt. Rooms were dirty. Public toilets were filthy. Air conditioning did not work. Doors did not lock. Food was below average. Birds ate out of buffet. Cats abounded. Staff was friendly. Beach was awesome. Entertainment was poor. Resort in whole was rundown and understaffed. It was cheap so I guess you get what you pay for.

I found the resort to be clean and they had excellent staff working at the buffet. The disco was empty early on in the week however, by Friday there was 20 or so people at the disco. The disco closes at 1:00pm. The buffet only was open from 7:30am-10am for breakfast. Then 12:30-2:30pm for lunch and 7:00pm-9:30pm for dinner. Meaning that if you have slept in past the breakfast time you had to wait till the bbq by the beach opens shortly before the lunch buffet starts. After dinner is over there is small sandwiches available in the lobby. The Lobby bar is open 24/7 so that is where most of the guest hangout after dinner. If you like to golf, the hotel offers up to three golf green passes per week per guest. Needless the say there are lots of golfers at this resort. The hot tubs were not hot. The food was ok... I guess that is as good as your going to get on the island... The beach was beautiful.

The peak season is Nov 15 to April 15th so my wife and I do not expect perfection while visiting at other times of year. During low season many employees are not working, consequently services suffer. Our visit October 24 th to Nov 8 was fun as usual and gave us an opportunity to renew our friendships with many staff members. The fact the hotel is fairly small suits us very well. The accommodations were good, not perfect but good. The food was to be as expected, plentiful but boring. The beach was perfect, the pool clean and the weather extremely hot. We look forward to 2 more visits over the winter. Our only concern was flying with Sunwing, once again booked an early morning flight at a premium, paid for it and 48hrs later the flight was changed to arrive late evening and after 2 am return to Toronto. Never again via Sunwing for us!!

The highlights of this resort include: the beach, close proximity to the town of Varadero, the grounds, and the amazing staff. It may have been the time of year, but there were food shortages, no premium drinks, king size sheets.

Resort staff are extremely caring and loving of Canadian tourists and make your experience a memorable one. Didn't experience any problems while on the resort and would say the only thing below average was the buffet food. But then again that is expected for most Cuba destinations.

Seldom have I ever returned to the same resort however this place has been the exception. I am well-traveled so its not a result of not wanting to chance somewhere else. I have been to most Caribbean countries, all of Central America and Mexico on business and pleasure numerous times as well as having been on cruises. After my May 2016 visit to Los Cactus I felt that I would have to return and while personal matters kept me away for 3 years I made it back July 2019 and was not disappointed. Not only was the resort as nicely appointed as I first experienced they had made additional improvements and were upgrading even while I was there. Now this is somewhat rare for Cuba where resources are scarce compared to other countries. I recognized many familiar faces with the staff and every staff member including gardeners where friendly and welcoming and it was totally sincere. They made you feel at home. If you have been to Cuba you know what to expect with the food however I find the selection, quality and taste at this resort to exceed the 5 or 6 other Cuban resorts I have been to in Varadero and other parts of Cuba. Pay a little extra and upgrade to the garden suites in Building/Block "I" which have recently undergone renovations with new beds, air conditioning, ceiling fans and more. They are 30 seconds walk to the pool, 1 minute to the buffet and 2 minute walk to the beach. While lower suites are nice with a patio, if traveling during the rainy season, you could end up with a flood in a lower unit if there is a major rain storm so I would suggest a 2nd floor unit. I've been to resorts that are beyond 5 star where you get picked up at the airport by helicopter and have private VIP beaches and restaurants however my first choice would be returning here for my 3rd stay.

Great Hotel and if you like Cuban food there will be lots to choose from. We brought some tuna, cheese, peanut butter, tea and other treats from home that would substitute for a meal. As always the staff was great. If you are in the older section ask for an upgrade. It's very noisy, there's to much mold and not good venting. Our friends moved mid way thru the trip and we stayed. Three out of four had sore throats at this time. The one that moved never got sick but we both arrived home stuffed and coughing. And we felt like this before we got on the plane. No fever, great appetite but flu like symptoms for one week after returning home. Be sure and visit the Dupont house and if you like to dance go to the Beatles Club in the evening.

Resort could use some updating. But the big negative is the food-not great and recycled most of the time. Not much selection on fruits and not good quality. Waiters though are nice. Most of the time we go for grilled meat as we’re confident that’s it’s freshly cooked however the cook behind the grill are not very accommodating.

If you are staying here don't expect too much. Rooms were dated, resort was clean. Dinner buffet could be much better. If you can't get into al a carte restaurants you may want to consider heading into Varadero for your dinner. Front bar staff could be more attentive to the folks waiting. Seemed like we were interrupting private conversations amongst the bar staff. Need to bring in more wine, more mint (imagine not being able to get mojitos in Cuba). No lemons or limes were available either. Beaches were beautiful. Location is terrific. Small cozy resort.

Another wonderful week at Los Cactus, the staff were at their best as always, the accommodations comfortable, the food reasonable, weather grand and a beach to die for. After some 20 plus visits we keep going back. Hurry up October we need

This is out 10th time at Los Cactus, and I would say our most disappointing visit. Upon late arrival (midnight), we were given a room in A block. We quickly asked for another room due to the mould in the air conditioner, and were given a room in F block on the second floor. The only issue with this room was that the air conditioner leaked, leaked so much all our bathroom towels had to be used to catch the water. Had to turn the air conditioner off at nighttime to avoid the constant dripping noise. Again asked for another room. Day 2 they had maintenance try to fix it but no luck, by day three we were moved to B block to a room with no issues. Would love to see them clean up the mould in the shower area, around the window The beach was great as usual, and the golfing was good, which is one of the reasons we go to this resort for the inclusion of golf, albeit you must pay for your golf cart. There was an issue of running out of wine, no Sambuca this year, which we had last year. Day time entertainment was mostly non existent, but there were also not many People around the pool. The resort appeared to be half full. Many of the staff we have gotten to know over the years, have left, most out of Cuba. Martinos. A la. crate is now split between Italian and international food, the food here was much improved as was the Cuban restaurant. The buffet was ok, less food options, which in my mind is good as less waste The pool needs a complete overhaul, the liner is a mess, the steps to get into the pool need to be replaced with more access points to the pool. We were told In 2018 that the pool was going to be replaced, probably not in my lifetime. unless we see some positive improvements, will probably not be returning to this resort any time soon So sad to see this small resort going constantly downhill. I would say this resort should be rated about 2.5 stars

The hotel was only a 25mins bus ride from the Airport, which was convenient, and only minutes to Varadero restaurants, bank or to the mall of America, where we could get money out. Los Cactus was a small resort, and only minutes to the beach, pool, buffet, and lobby. The grounds were clean, but the hotel needs an update, which I think is coming later this year. The pool lining is falling apart. There was plenty of food at the buffet, but the quality and variation of food was poor. Many people during our stay got sick off the food. The meat station had little to choose from, no chicken at all. The food was slightly better quality at the a la carte restaurant, although they had run out of the popular foods. It was better to just pay the extra money and get off the resort to Varadero, and eat at a restaurant. We ate at "The La Vaca Rosada" (the "Pink Cow"), and it was awesome! The food was delicious, hot, fresh, with quick and friendly service. I would highly recommend the filet minot, and the chicken cordon bleu, and ANY of their blender drinks :)

Would absolutely return to this resort. Wonderful staff, they make the place special. Lots of return vacationers, made some new friends. The breakfast and lunch buffets were good, need to improve the evening buffets. The Transit supper was delicious.

We had a pleasant stay at Be live adults only Los Cactus resort. It's an older resort but it was clean andthe grounds had beautiful gardens that were well kept. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. We were booked in a junior suite that was located in an older building. As we entered the air was musty and the hallways were dark and gloomy. We requested an upgrade and were transferred to a superior room in Block D. It was well worth the extra cost that we had to pay. The room was spacious and quiet and close to the pool and main dining room. The food was hit and miss but overall it wasn't too bad. We went to the A la carte Italian restaurant and we're disappointed with the service. Our waiter did not pay us much attention. We did however enjoy the Air Transat welcome barbecue that was held in the Cuban restaurant. Good food and entertainment! The resort had great nightly entertainment including a Cuban dance show, a Magic show and an Aquatic show which was our favorite. The beaches were fantastic. Will consider returning to this resort but not in April as the mosquitoes were very bad!

This was the 2-nd time this year in Los Cactus . The hotel is clean and well maintained The room was clean enough . Unfortunately I found in the room few large and scary bugs reason to feel enough uncomfortable for all period . It was for the first time in Cuban resorts to see few dogs on the beach Pooing and Peeing on the beautiful white sand ..It wasn't a big pleasure to walk on that sand anymore . Of course I contacted the Customer Relations manager ,and the answer was : Cuban beaches are public. In any park or beach everywhere else than Cuba You can see at the entrance if dogs are permitted or not. For this reason I will never go to that resort again.

Hello fellow travelers. I found this resort to be better than expected. This resort has lush matured gardens and very hard working staff that have been at same location for 30+ years. My room was very big and clean. General manager and food and beverage manager are on hand at all times and are easy to locate if you want to pay them a friendly compliment. This was my 5 th time in Cuba over a span of 16 years. All staff work very hard so please be nice. It is noticeable that the hotel is making great efforts to update rooms and grounds. Multitude of wild and domesticated animals on property which was a joy for myself .Hummingbirds, falcons,Cuban woodpeckers, small and big lizards,kittens, cats, butterflies ,snakes:)etc).Duna bar has best cocktails, lobby great cortados❤️All departments work hard. Entertainment was by far the best talent I have seen at any resort. Don’t believe anything negative you might read on trip advisor. I booked a run of house room and received a huge top floor garden view suite( it was an ocean view to be honest). Treat people like people and it goes a long way. Instead of contributing or complaining about butts ,cups ,or straws on the beach. Do your part and pick some up. Would love to return to this resort for the people❤️

The buffet was what I expected in Cuba so no surprise no complaint, the room ( 402 ) was tired very poor location but the maid did a good job ( I did kill 3 cockroaches during the week ) the service was good except at the lobby bar the two female bartenders would almost ignore you unless you had a tip in your hand! They seemed more interested in talking to each outher than working And running out of white wine every night ? Really ?when you got away from the building with the disco the resort was very nice and very clean the pool was good the beach was one of the best I’ve been to ( I’ve been to over 20 all inclusive hotels but only 3 in Cuba ) the bell.. captain in the lobby ( muscular short fella ) set us up with an awesome guide for a trip to Havana . All in all not a bad resort for what I paid

We love los cactus. We first visited this resort in 99 when it was superclub breezes varadero. Since that time we have island hopped all over the Caribbean but Every few years we are drawn back to this resort. The staff are wonderful and many are still the ones we may on our first trip in 99. Every time we return it’s like old home week. Why go anywhere else.

I am absolutely happy, that I've chosen Hotel Los Cactus. It is very quiet there, so you can really recharge your batteries. The territory is very green, full of nice flowers palms and various plants. Food is Ok, cocktails are amazing!

This was our 7th time to this resort. We tried a couple of others over the last 10 years but have decided that Los Cactus is the best one for us. We love the charm of the building architecture, we love the beach, we love that it is smaller and easy to get around at. Each year we come back to this resort, we see improvements in the food, although we always did find the food to be plentiful. We have lots of fresh fruit & hot omelettes at the buffet, the beach barbecue has lots of offer, and dinner is great with the pasta bar, plenty of cheeses and meats. Most of all, we love the people at this resort. Through the years and the changes the staff have had to make, we find them so eager to please and to be helpful, always a smile and a hug when they see us return. The front desk, the bar staff, the animation team, the cleaning staff, the restaurant staff, the maintenance people are warm and friendly. We feel like it is our home away from home! Thanks for everything Los Cactus!

This resort is mainly full of repeaters.....some over 40 times, for one good reason. The staff here is amazing, and make this place a warm and inviting place to spend vacation, enjoying one of the best beaches in the world! The grounds are very clean and beautiful and very well taken care of. It is beautiful. The water is pristine and turquoise clear water with a soft sandy beach and all of your troubles disappear when you are relaxing here in the many chaise loungers and palapas and beach beds. I have only been back a couple of days and am already planning my next trip back to see all of my friends again. I LOVE LOS CACTUS :)

This was our fourth trip to Los Cactus in the last five years. We were there from March 9 - 16, 2019 and always travel at this time of year. Room: We stayed in a gardenview suite. They are much nicer than the junior suites which are in the larger building (near the disco.) The room was simple but clean. Bedding is clean. King size bed - not two beds pushed together. Towels and bathroom was clean. We had hot water every day. Lights in bathroom were bright but the lights in the main room could have been a little brighter. A couple of very small lizards which must have slipped in under the door but no big deal. We did have a problem with our toilet seat but it was taken care of after a couple of days (unfortunately not sooner) - I think had we made a bigger fuss they would have dealt with it faster. The garden suites have a second room which is nice for changing etc. Our room faced the ocean but no view due to palm trees - we were on bottom floor. Our back deck/sitting area had sun at the end of the day which was nice. Beach: Amazing! Great for long walks. Nice sand on feet. No need for beach shoes. Lots of beach chairs and they are in great shape. Lots of sun shelters - some are fixed to the ground and there are umbrellas that you can have put into the sand depending on where you want your chairs (i.e closer to the water.) Fixed shelters were replaced since the hurricane damage from a few years ago. Volleyball every day at 11 am. Kayak, peddle boats, etc. available. The beaches at Varadero are fantastic and Los Cactus is no exception. Water was clear and beautiful! Food: Buffet was fine though fairly similar from day to day. Not too many spices so you might want to bring some. Typical for Cuba though I think. Usually had some meat freshly grilled to your liking. Salad bar had a good variety. Bread sweet. Service: The staff at Los Cactus are awesome. They work long hours but are nothing but friendly, courteous and professional. My hat's off to them! Flight/Airport: The airport in Varadero is annoying. Long and slow queues. Pick a line and hope for the best. Be patient.

Just returned from our eighth stay. Let me preface these comments by saying I love Cuba 🇨🇺 and this resort ❤️❤️ Great weather,the best staff, gorgeous beach. Only downside was we lost power on & off for two days and then no water 😡😡😡 when we inquired were told the problems had been been fixed! NOT SO ! My husband finally asked that we be moved so we could enjoy our last few days. Staff said the hotel was full, my husband informed them the room next door had been empty for two days.. Luckily Lizbeth Díaz was still there and had us moved immediately. I understand there’s new management, and renovations are ongoing, however small repairs are never getting done. The excuse “it’s Cuba” shouldn’t be a factor when foreign investors are buying up these resorts. We paid for a great holiday and it’s disappointing when you don’t get that ☹️. The lights throughout the resort at night are hit and miss and I’m shocked no one has been seriously hurt. The washrooms below the Buffet need to be fixed and soap would be a bonus so you can wash your hands before dinner. That being said, I feel incredibly safe at Los Cactus, and we will probably give it one more try next year,and hopefully continue to enjoy the great weather and Cuban hospitality.

Having been to this resort prior to change in management we have noticed several areas that detracted from our vacation enjoyment. Although these areas did not significantly detract from our overall vacation they did have some effect. Not everything can be laid at the feet of the new owners as they appear to be trying to upgrade the accommodations. However the apparent reduction in staff adversely affected several areas. Namely room cleaning was significantly less than in previous years, two bars had been closed and another with reduced hours leaving the main lobby bar to handle additional custom. With the reduced staff we noticed on several occasions this bar ran out of glassware, mixes for drinks (tonic water for 3 days while two other bars had some but were closed), red and white wine. While some rooms have been upgraded there are still too many requiring attention. The buffet was a very pleasant surprise as the quality and variety of food was much higher than in previous visits. The staff members we had contact with were all as friendly, courteous as in previous years. We know and have met other guests who have been returning for many years (some more than 20) so it still has positive qualities.

Overall would have to assess improvements before returning Not the Hotel it used to be food good staff excellent but some areas need improvement. A la Carte not great..rooms need upgrades..bars close early..no glasses shortage of wine soft drinks..toilets not cleaned regularly..poor entertainment

My priorities when traveling south are beach, cleanliness, food - in that order. This place covers all the bases. The beach is beautiful, long and not overcrowded. The rooms are older but clean and comfortable (there are some that have been renovated). There is a decent variety of food. This resort has great value for the dollar overall considering it’s adult only. The staff is wonderful. Everyone is helpful and friendly.

Our room was located in the junior suites, and we did have a suite (1 and a half bathrooms, living room, king size bed, mini fridge, coffeemaker with coffee and bottled water supplied, huge patio with table/chairs, loungers), being in this building we had no issue with noise even with the disco also being located there....grounds were well kept and clean, gym equipment seemed to be up to date, tennis courts, basketball court, always able to find seats at the pool or at 1 of the 7 hot tubs, staff were friendly and helpful, no shortage of food and steak that you could cut with a fork..and best for last, the beach, just amazing..very clean and again no shortage of loungers...this being my first time at Los Cactus I was a little worried after reading some reviews, but seeing it for myself, I am already looking forward to returning.....

This resort is comfortable. Everything is close by. Staff is beyond helpful and all looked very happy. Food was great, beach is wonderful. Room was spacious and everything worked Shows were entertaining. Zero complaints

We travelled as a group of 4 - 2 adults and 2 young adults. Had one preferred suite and one gardenview suite. Nice range of ages at this resort. We were happy with everything overall - room was good, food was fine especially a la cartes, staff was friendly, beach was awesome, etc.

-Friendly staff and educated -The installations of the Hotel are: needs renovations, air conditioner lids very old and dirty. Missing lights at night in gardens path, could be occurr an accident specially seniors. -Wasrooms: curtins, fawcett, sink in bad conditions. - looks like everybody are afraid of pool water quality, no many people inside pool. -Safe place, supervising safety personal walking in every moment. -Good idea to change hamburgers as snaps. -Good amusement at nights: professionals dancers. Wi fi Internet as well the rest of Island very bad quality.

This is my first visit to Cuba. At first, settled into a room with a block C, next to the construction site, was noisy during the day and then the next day changed the number closer to the reception, was good.The large room has all the necessary air conditioning low noise. The food in the buffet was good and quite diverse. But I didn’t really like the Ala carte restaurant "El Mojito" and "International". The beach is nice and fairly clean near the beach bar, where it was always possible to eat but it was not necessary. All week the weather was fine only the penultimate day of rain. A summer week at the end of winter is a good idea!

Great value for price paid! Clean grounds, beach and mostly friendly staff, coffee bar was great! Not a far walk to beach and the beach grill was amazing! Plenty of space, nightly shows were good but could have been better. We did have to switch rooms due to baby ants but were moved to a better room.

I have been to this resort many times before when it was Superclubs Breezes Varadaro. It has completely changed demographic.Its now an old age home when before it was good for single guys and meeting girls.Now the club is dead ..no animation guys / girls keeping the club lively...unless your into 3pm bingo.

We spent a week at Los Cactus Jan 5 to 12. Loved the resort, enjoyed the International/Italian restaurant and the superior service provided by Pedro! Thanks to Debbie M. for assisting me with yet another fabulous vacation to Varadero!

We love this resort. The people are friendly, and the food is good...you would not walk away hungry that's for sure especially at the AlaCarte's. We love Martino's they now have two different menus..one being the International...steak is awesome! and the Italian...never a disappointment. El Mojito's the Cuban restaurant...has a new menu and it is also excellent! Way to go Los Cactus! Thanks again to ladies at reception....you make our stay even that more pleasurable with your knowledge. I know we are missing people to thank but we love you all! This was our 17th time ...but I'm sure we will be back again! :-)

We have been going to this resort for the last 20 years. The last two trips have been a big disappointment. Since the resort sold and is no longer a Breezes it has gone down hill. The resort is very dated. Not kept up. There food was terrible. Same food at lunch and supper every day. Very little entertainment. Some of the staff were friendly however we will not be returning to this resort.
