We absolutely love this hotel. It is right on the beach. It's right in the middle of town. You can walk to the markets the bank and restaurants. The staff are so lovely and thoughtful. We go often and know most of them on a personal level. It's a great place!!

This is the 3rd time at this hotel. Very well managed, personnel always cleaning outside. Very clean, rooms as well. Very good beach and pool. Activities also. Management always around checking everything. will go again.

the staff are friendly, inviting and accommodating. the entertainment staff are awesome! there is something for everyone on the buffet. the grounds are kept clean and so are the rooms although the beds could stand to be updated!

For the rating what was given, this hotel is at the best standing , the beach is safe and meet the safety standards, but blue sunbeds need to be replaced or fixed and cleaned. The area is compact ,the swimming pool and beach are at a few steps from hotel. The staff is neat, friendly and professional. The food is good, the entertainment is amazing. I love the time spent there.

I have taken so long to write a review, as I did not know where to start! I only.had 7 days booked. Arrived at my hotel (Club Tropical) at approximately 4:00PM. I noticed that thought of giving a tip, is somewhat expected. I have worked hard to get a trip to Cuba, even though I give a fair amount of gifts and money to the workers of the hotel and workers for the hotel (evening performers). I have no problem with tipping, actually - I encourage it!, but when it is expected of me ~ I just want to back off my tipping! This year I REALLY noticed the ungratefulness, mainly the workers of the hotel. There is a small group of us that would like to meet up at Club Tropical, as many of us have friends that live close by. Due to the language barrier, I could not get a room on the 1st floor, until I met up with Sunwing the following day - we had success! This was a BIG deal, as I have had 2 back surgeries. Two days went by and was enjoying my trip. One evening the power flickered and eventually went out. The power was out still the next day. At 9:15 AM we were told that Sunwing customers were being sent to Iberostar and TransAt was being sent to Tuxpan, and we were told to be ready by 10:00AM. THIS IS WHERE MY VACATION, took a deep dive! I was unable to find my passport, trying to get answers from someone and was having a difficult time with that. Been through the 2 rooms that I had been assigned to...had maids help, had friends help. Looked through my luggage 5 times, my friend went through it a couple times too! Up until this point I have not been off the resort other than to check hours for the consulate and to talk with a friend of mine, directly across the street. Nobody had been invited into my room, not even the maids. One of the front desk clerks had to vouch for me, at the new hotel. The front desk staff at the new hotel(Iberostar)knew about my situation. I got my keys for my room, so dropped off my luggage off and went to the bar for a couple drinks. As I was leaving to go back to my room, a lady told me my passport was at the front desk. I immediately went to the front desk and I was given my passport back...such a relief, as this situation could have gone a multiple different ways. Club Tropical front desk staff gave my passport to someone else, we dont even look like each other. I have to say a BIG KOO~DOOS to the front desk staff at Iberostar!! We could not do the activities that the group wanted to, as we were split up. At the new resort we couldn't make arrangements for ala carte...we had no idea when were going back to Club Tropical. Two days at Iberostar and then back to Club Tropical, pack up again. We were to be ready for 10AM, for the buses to pick us up to return to Club Tropical. One more day of my vacation and all Ive done is move from here to there and back. Repacked up one more time, for my return flight home. We had a 2 hour delay but everything seemed to work out from there!. Arrived home at 12:08 AM, this trip left a terrible taste in my mouth. I spent $1300 for this trip, I really feel that I was taken advantage of and dont think Ill be able to do this next year! I have been to Varadero, Cuba many times and I know not to expect much...specifically this hotel, 9 times. Apparently, I was suppose to be offered a voucher for a submarine on the security side(because of the 2 hour delay), at the airport...I was not offered anything! I cant tell you the level of stress I was put through, once I realized my passport was missing! The hotel(Club Tropical)staff, also made me feel like I had lost my passport. They had, complete opportunity to return my passport to myself, as I was within 50 feet of the front desk, until midnight. Even after finding my passport, I had an extremely difficult time enjoying myself. Did not feel like a holiday, whatsoever... Rooms were clean, pools looked clean, the grounds workers do daily work, restaurant is buffet style and cooked fish, beef, chicken and pork. Saturday is Cuban Days... Most staff are great to talk to!

Hotel is not fancy but very good and clean, location, beach, food and staff not complains at all. We stay there for 2 weeks and never regret that. Close to bars, restaurants, market, stores and right on the beach.

The hotel is wonderful! We shared the apartment on the beach with friends of ours. The scenic views and hypnotic sounds of the ocean waves crashing on the beach...amazing! The staff and bosses are great. They do everything possible for you to enjoy your stay. Some things are beyond their control...everything else is ?%

Property was well kept, washroom we're mostly clean always, but the actual toilets had no seats.. Staff was all great, food was ok, but not much of a selection, very repetitive, same foods daily. Snack bar only served bread and cheese(cheese sandwich). Good if you wanna relax, not many activities on site. Many sightseeing experiences.

Everything is close to the Ocean. The water was between 90 and 95. The staff is very good from the front desk to the management, to all the waiters and waitresses. One thing about a smaller Hotel. You meet alot of friends. We had a 2 bedroom apartment on the water. There was 3 of us. The drinks were excellent from the Pina Coladas to the Sangria. Breakfast was excellent , Lunch and dinner changed daily. We went out for dinner 3 times in a week. Lobster and Lobster pizza was our favourite. I just had a knee replacement so exercising in the warm ocean water was great, very helpful. I want to thank everybody at Club Tropical for there hospitality. I want to thank Kevin at Tripcentral. The only problem we had was the travelling. Waiting in lines at the Cuban Airport for 2 hours arriving and leaving. We wish we could do more for our Cuban friends.

The staff are so great!! The hotel and resort are great.I love to be downtown Veradrro . The city is amazing...lots of restaurants and markets. The people of Veradrro are very friendly. What a great experience!

Beach is excellent, Food and staff were very good. Had nice drinks . Double decker Bus right out front. You can travel all over Varadero On/Off for $5 A couple of problems, take your own sheets single or double will work . Mainly Canadians from Quebec when we were there. They are putting New Air conditioners in. Very Nice and Quiet. Mattresses OK. Only Buffet Restaurant there but Staff very Nice. We did know some of the staff from our previous resort and they were very helpful. There is a medical Outlet close by. I don't recommend taking kids there because of the sex trade going on. It is tough in Cuba. They could pay travelers to bring down plumbing fixtures. This could be arranged through Sunwing. I was a home builder for 40 years. You never renovate a bathroom around 60 year old faucets. Just reduce our trip cost by the price of a certain specified faucet. Great marketing for say Canadian Tire, Home Hardware. Rona, Canadian Companies. The one main plus about this resort, they are really trying.. Another problem. NO ELEVATOR. I am older with a bad knee. We had to be moved from 6 flights of stairs to 2 . I could not have managed at our first room but they moved us down after 1 1/2 days. If you are older you must be on the lowest floor which is up two flights of stairs.

Pros: Location is great, beach is well kept and clean. Some shows were well choreographed. Room was clean and the AC worked well. Got a nice beach view. Close to the flea market. Cons: Was on the 3rd floor, no elevators. NIghtly Entertainment was average. Limited cocktail mixes.

Excellent location! Beautiful beach! Friendly staff! I have been to Cuba 15 times and this will be the hotel I call home now! The rooms are all great and the food and drinks were the best I have had from any hotel I have stayed at in Cuba. The entertainment was fun and lively. Their Cuban Day is filled with lots of treats for adults and children. Oh and the foam party is a hit! Can’t wait to return.

Friendly staff,great food , room great. Near ocean,plus good pool . Rooms kept clean. Any problem e.g. television broken-fixed immediately. Lots of security people ready to help. Grounds kept clean and in good condition, great food schedule for breakfast, dinner and supper,starting at 7 30 am.

The updates, paint and improvements are great! The people are so wonderful! We had no power at all one day. Everyone not just our resort. The sun, the beach and the pool, FANTASTIC! ☀️🍹🏖️❤️😎 We will return soon! Thank you to everyone there!

The noise was unbearable, my room was on top of the bar and the entertainment area. Very noisy all day and evenings. The lobby is under renovations therefore the electricity would go off intermittently , lots of construction noise. The breakfast is a regular fare not much to be said. Other than the grills where the omelets were made needed a good scrub. The food was lacking, only chicken, grilled ham and fish, white rice, rice with beans. Beans, chick peas, eggplant with cabbage served everyday. most of the food was recycled from the previous day No afternoon snacks were offered unless you asked. Only ham sandwiches were offered no cheese was available The last day I was offered half of a hamburger patty. The office staff very rude and unwilling to help. Lots of ants in the room , lack of water in the bathroom. The pool is about 3-4 feet . The beach is very good .Should I say more ? This is a place where most of the guests go there to drink and sit around at the bar. There is no dining other than the buffet restaurant where all the meals are served .No variety of food available. Having said all this we must understand that Cuba is going through a difficult time and food is scarce even in the restaurants. Therefore if you want good weather a lovely beach lots sunshine and are there to drink this is the place for you . Next time no two star hotels for me. Adios.

The staff is very friendly and always willing to help. The rooms are clean. The food is fine but there are annoying flies in the dining room. I have been there 3X and would go again. Great vacation. I can't wait to return!

The front desk manager was terrible!! We paid extra to be in the main building and we were told it was full. People that came in hours after us were given rooms in the main building and even the next day. We have been going here for about 5 years. I filed a complaint with the agency in Cuba and will filing a complaint with Air Transat here.

We spent week here, we were in the jail or dungon. the new part of hotel was much nicer. The foods was hit and miss. The beach and ocean were wonderful. location was nice cause it was on the strip but the street noise was constant.

Everything was good. the grounds were kept clean. Nice beach the food was good. I like the location of the resort. The pool was clean the workers were friendly. The entertainment was good. It is a small resort

I'd steer clear of this hotel, if you can. The bathrooms were always broken, 1 stall out of 2 in each of the public bathrooms was nailed shut. We were put into a single room for the first 2 nights which was very small, dirty and the windows and door hinges were broken and the door knob was missing. The safe was even seized in an open position so it was not functional. I think starting out in this room put us in a bad mood because we got in at midnight and we were tired. We weren't fond of the food at this resort, looking at photos of other resorts in the area the food looked like some effort was put in. There was very little here and the same dishes were at every meal and dishes that were seemingly created out of mixing other dishes together. Lots of flies in the morning and the fruit was never ripe. We had bananas only 1 day which was a nice treat, but we ate off resort quite a bit. The fruit juice wasn't real, it was basically sugar water. The snack bar consists of only 1 item which was usually a hamburger. Where are the chips!? Our second room (the double room that we actually booked) was so much nicer than the single room 'apartment' we were put into at first. This seems to be typical of them to put new arrivals in there. If you do go here, visit Julio in the bar and Emerio the bellhop. Some of the staff here were so great but others barely cracked a smile the entire time we saw them. Weather was great, water was beautiful, beech is amazing and it was entertaining to watch one of the lifeguards make out with a guest and then eventually go off somewhere.

Jan 16 to Jan 30, 2020. This was our third stay at Club Tropical in Varadero. We love it because of its location (Calle 21), is literally on the beach, and is perfect in size. The on-again and off-again bus stops right in front of the hotel. The front desk people , maid staff and food/drink staff are very receptive. If you come to them with a smile and patience, I believe they would do anything for you. The food is always fine. It does not have the variety that the larger hotels have, but most everything is tasty. There is obvious effort to keep the grounds litter free. The beach is clean. Lots of new beach chairs and shady umbrellas. It was a surprise when returned to the airport and informed that we could no longer use our CUCs to purchase our Duty Free. The shops will accept only Canadian and American funds. I will be sure to purchase in the town and pack in my luggage. We will return to Club Tropical again next year.

Clean, staff is nice, food is good and the beach is amazing. Located in downtown Varadero. AC worked thankfully. Don't expect great luxury or commodities. Good place for a low budget. Family friendly. Quiet place to relax. Staff is flexible on all requests. The towels are too small. Bring your own! I was shocked when I was told I had to use that small towel. I requested big towels and they were able to accommodate and give us 2 big old towels. Bring your own towel as a piece of advice.

We have stayed at this resort twice previously. This past trip we were a bit discouraged with being out of eggs for four straight days..and no ice cream as prior. Most non-smokers were not happy that there is not any designated areas for smokers and there certainly was a "very large" number of smokers at this resort which made the non smokers like ourselves stay away from the bar area and front lobby which are somewhat enclosed. Even at the pool we were made to move as there seemed to be little respect for young children and non-smokers. Very little respect for Non smokers; vulnerable Seniors and Children As a former Customer Service Trainer I believe the staff needs to realize that in order to get great tips they need to provide Good Customer Service. smile..acknowledge etc. Not be miserable because you aren't receiving them... Standard rooms are below standard so be sure to upgrade. This location is amazing as you are central to all ..a few simple updates; restricted smoking areas and better service and it would be an ideal hotel.

We enjoyed our selfs these lots to eat food was way better than expected we ate very well and drink we’re great the staff was awesome and took the best of care of us rooms were out of date but clean and the house keepers did a great job... everyone was very friendly.. we will definitely be going back

Food available was inedible. Really, I was there. Keeping in mind Cuba does not have much to work with as far as variety & quality. One will not starve as there is lots of restaurants all in walking distance. Drinks were very good. Service & staff wonderful. We were there for week of Dec. 7th Nice small hotel on the beach. Clean. Great location. Been there 3 times. Will be trying an other hotel next year only for the food factor.

I've been to Cuba about 59 times , but this was my best experience in a cuban hotel. The resort is beautiful and the people are extremely friendly. I will return back to this resort for sure. My wife and I loved the food, beach and the staff.

Everything was great except for the loud music playing till 11PM. But hey its Varadero and it is like that at other resorts also. The omelets in the morning were very good. You can choose what you wanted in it. The buffet had always something to chose from. The location was awesome. We were right on the beach. You could walk out the front door and walk around downtown Varadero. We found a great pizza place. The staff were always friendly.

Excellent location, wonderful 🏖 friendly people and great relaxation resort. Being close to all amenities was a plus for us. This is my 5th time back to the same hotel after trying few others and now this is the one for me and my vacation resort.

Vacationing to relax enjoy the beach the nice weather, we enjoyed all aspects of our needs in a friendly atmosphere clean and pleasant personnel. Close to all amenities restaurants, stores and attractions. This is our third time in the same hotel after trying few others which we disliked. We will surely go back again to the same hotel. Met few Canadians who also were regular vacationers in the same hotel. Thanks we had a great time.

This is the 5th time I have stayed at this hotel for its atmosphere, very friendly staff, directly on the street, beautiful beach and easy access. 30 minutes from the airport. I will return next year!

Beach was beautiful, food was edible (people always say you don't go for the food). We had a beach front apartment. It was nice of the staff to put all travelers together instead of separate rooms. Staff was very kind! The male staff were very flirty (sometimes too flirty). I did appreciate the flowers I could place in my hair and the coconut drinks - that was a nice friendly gesture (be ready to tip). There were two bars located on the property. It would have been great if they both served the same drinks 24/7. At least is the day bar/snack bar could have had longer hours. There was a BIG issue with bugs in all of the rooms. Mainly ants, some guests wouldn't use the washroom in their room, they used the lobby washroom. We found cockroaches in and around our room. They offered to switch rooms, but the bugs were a problem everywhere. Did not have an issue with sand fleas (we did use bug spray just in case). Entertainment/music ended by 11 pm. I think this was a resort more for locals and an older crowd. It was in a great location, downtown, walking distance to the markets, banks, and other shops. Great pizzeria (Honey House) close by. Wifi is not including in your stay. You can walk a couple blocks to purchase a wifi card (1 peso for 1 hour). The first few days the resort did not have money to exchange, we had to walk to bank (remember to bring your ID if you go to the bank). Pillows were flat. Wasn't the most comfortable sleep. Bathroom towels were very small and you don't get enough. Swim towels have to be rented for 10 peso each, you give the deposit and get you money back at the end BUT be very careful to read the paper you sign! Make sure it has YOUR name on it. They had use sign a paper with an incorrect name and we have to show driver's license in order to prove that was our deposit in order for us to get our money back. I would not stay here again.

we had a great agent and flawless booking procedure. however, the room we got when we arrived was not what we booked. we booked 2 garden rooms with terrace for the 4 of us . 2 adults 2 teenagers. we received a "2 bedroom apt over looking the beach" the view was lovely. the room had a kitchen full of ants, the 1 bathroom in the boys room shower did not work and the ants were coming up from the drain and all over the window. the one bed that was against the window had constant flow of ants on the wall that made it impossible for him to sleep there. we reported everything. the hall way had a leak coming straight down from the A/C unit in the above apt that made it impossible to keep a dry floor and we needed to keep a towel on the floor to prevent anyone from slipping. we needed a can of bug spray for the unit from the hotel. we had a welcoming cockroach that again made it very difficult to sleep for feeling as though it would be back on our beds. it was not till wed. that we were offered 2 other rooms, but given the comments of other guests who had the same issue there was no point in moving . my eldest son slept only 2 nights with us for the week we spent on our long awaited holiday. he found alternate accommodations. tried to get my 20 CUC back to return the towels and they had my name attached to someone elses room and i had to prove thru signature on the cards that they had made an error to get my money back. sadly the money I spent on a budget hotel on a single parent salary to give us a long awaited little holiday away to give us a nice time away was not the best experience at this hotel at all. I would never go back there and I would certainly never recommend that a t/a recommend it. sadly the online views are never what you get when you go to cuba. we wanted something close to town for the boys to have somewhere to go . the next time I can afford to go I would book an all inclusive that you would have no reason to need to leave for . an all inclusive with amenities and games for the boys. broken darts for the board, only 1 pool cue for the pool table of which there was 2 but you could never play together. not a great experience sorry to say.

Public areas were well maintained but the accommodation had seen much better days and definately did not live up to expectations. The location was great. Right in town with restaurants, bars and markets Within walking distance. Beach fabulous. VIP check in for return flight was definately a waste of money.

This hotel is absolutely perfect for us! It is in the middle of town ,central to banking, shopping, dining. The people on the resort are wonderful. Everyone is nice and helpful. We have stayed many times before and will continue to book here.

The Club Tropical is situated in a fantastic location, on a beautiful beach yet intown, close to bars, restaurants, shopping. It has so much potential, yet it falls short in almost every area, it is rundown, no elevator, very poor food selection. That said it is inexpensive & I would stay here again as for me the positives it offers outweigh its many deficiencies.

My friend and I just returned from a great week here . The room was clean and plenty of hot water and water pressure . We booked a superior room and I highly recommend that as the basic rooms were dark and dreary. The food was good and we had no issues with not having enough choices . The staff were amazing ! will I return ? Yes tomorrow , if I could but certainly next year .

Stayed in the apartments on the beach....need repair ..Wonderful view and certainly convenient. For the price we paid it was a deal. VERY central to everything ..right up town Veredaro walking distance.to everything. We had a drowning while there that I felt may have been prevented with the proper red flag up - as well as the lifeguards need to be up on their chairs, not in the corner, hidden. After a tourist noticed the man in the water, and began shouting - a Lifeguard ran from the next resort to assist? It was too late!! At most times the lifeguards spent more time trying to get tips or socializing. They need to be on their high chairs watching or at least on the beach. Horrible we had to witness the drowning. Was angry the last day as we were authorized to stay in our room up until three by the front desk but apparently one of the maids had her family visiting the Hotel - wanting to use our room and was attempting to rush us out with her children in our common room sitting waiting.

Everything at this hotel was clean and enjoyable! Randy with the animation team is the best hotel employee I’ve met to date! I would definitely use Trip Central to book again as everything went according to plan! Thank you to all the Club Tropical staff for making this an unforgettable trip for my friend and I!!!!!!!

The resort was clean the workers are friendly the food was good the entertainment was good and the beach was nice. I like the location it was convenient if you like to be in town I would stay there again

Wish I was doing a review, but unfortunately the plane left Jan. 30 with out me as I was too sick to go, learned an expensive lesson, ALWAYS BUY CANCELLATION INSURANCE, looking forward to my next trip to Cuba and booking with Trip Central........

Stayed here before, small resort- front door in town back door on beach. Basic simple resort for those who have been here before snd know what Cuba is about. Rooms are fair and basic. Food is good with fresh choices daily. Your not in Cuba for the food after all.

1st night - got in late and was put in a very small, but clean room. Next morn. asked for a change - no vacancies left...3rd morn. finally got a larger room - nice w/balcony. Food: Buffet in the morning was decent, but lunch and dinners, not so good - however...if you check the top 10 places to eat you'll be very pleased...so plan to eat out for those meals. Most places is an easy walk .. and you can always take a CoCo or taxi home (about 5 CUCS for CoCo) Beautiful beach..but watch out for sand fleas... Make sure you rinse yourself off before going to your room because you can bring them in with you...they are NOT bedbugs..so don't worry about that. Entertainment was good...alcoholic beverages were made very well...and coffee's are good! All in all - if you want to be close to town, friendly staff, and not expect 5star quality..this is a good investment.

I will start with the positive, it was clean, the food was decent, the reception personal and bar and restaurant people were friendly. My room balcony did not lock, they had no key for the safe in my room, the maids would not do my room nice, unless l left a tip each day. Huge concern not having a safe, and sleeping at night with a patio door that does not lock, in addition l have the Garden View Room, and my room balcony faced a busy street. They schedule evening entertainment, and most of the time it was cancelled and did not advise on the board, we waited and only found out after 9:30 pm, that was a huge irritating thing, as we sat and waited, just to find out it was not happening. It is unfortunate as this resort can be so much more then they offer. For the shows, they could have just put music on by the pool, and let people dance, the effort was just not there. They had no pool bar, but had a beach bar that was not ever open. They had nothing interesting around the pool in the day. I am planning to go back to Cuba in April, and would have loved to go back to the same resort, as l met so many people, but the effort for them to make our vacation something memorable was not present at all. I could not even find a manager to talk to, the reception were nice, but not helpful at all. Brenda Melo at Tripcentral was awesome, and while on vacation, l did refer many to book with Tripcentral as l had a seamless experience and very hands on.

This was our third visit to Tropical. We always enjoy the staff and returning guests. This time around, I must say, some Canadian travelers made it embarrassing to be a Canadian!! Drunks, fights, and lots of drama till 5 in the morning keeping the rest of us from sleeping!! We paid lots of money to be at this resort for Christmas and New Years, why is it that the staff fill big bags with grapes, apples and pears? If we could see them, my question is who are they hiding from? Because this resort has many returning guests, beach chairs are saved for tips and gifts! You might sit in the sand!! We graduated to chairs after our third stay! My son found a live worm in his plate!!!

In the heart of Varedero lies a quaint and friendly resort named Club Tropical. Excellent staffing and surprisingly good food are offered daily by courteous staff. This resort is situated on the beach within a minute walk. We encountered people from all over the globe and made many friends. Now, tourism is declining in Varedero and you can see by the lack of people walking around on the strip which means the populace is doubling down on their efforts to squeeze out a Peso by any means available, weather it be by begging, overcharging, or blatantly padding restaurant bills. A prime example is the constant harassment of cab drivers blowing their horns at you and stopping their stinking diesel cars to ask you if you need a ride, again, for a princely sum. There is probably 200 cabs and twenty tourists so go figure. We have been to Varedero many times over the years but now feel the shine is rubbing off.

The hotel room 1112 had mould in it. Not hot water . The people before us had this room moved out .And the rented it out to us with not changes . That's sad health and safety issues brething that shit in.

i liked the resort although the reviews and you advertising need to be updated, it stated it was a non smoking resort and that is untrue they smoke everywhere at this resort that was one of the reasons we choose Club Tropical, i found that the employees were a little lazy the beach garbage cans were always overflowing we witnessed a life guard throw a beer bottle at the garbage can and miss the bottle broke and the glass stayed on the beach for 2 days before it was cleaned, i believe that this resort needs the management to enforce the employees to do there jobs.

I thought the hotel was a very good dollar for dollar experience since it is centrally located in Varadero, thus eliminating cab rides like those you have to include in your vacation plans if you choose one of the out of the way resorts. The food was comparable to other higher rated resorts I have stayed in ,in Cuba and that accounts for some twelve resorts throughout the island and some twice. The beach within steps of the hotel simply adds to it's character and the multiple shops and restaurants within walking distance might keep you walking. A favorite cultural experience can be had if you attend to the home of some local people in the village who will cook home meals and welcome you to dine with them.All in all the rooms are clean(some of the older ones may be dated), but clean, good food , good location, pleasant staff,and nice people from all parts of the world. I would return!!!

The hotel is a Charming 200-person Hotel. With the beach on one side and the downtown Varadero on the other. You have many markets and other activities within walking distance. Most cab rides around 5 CUc. The food was okay. The bread is always fresh. But you should always bring your favorite condiments. The staff are generally very friendly. The hotel cleaning staff never steal anything. I've been there many times and never heard of an incident. The bath towels suck. I had a wonderful experience for a two and a half star hotel.

we enjoyed our stay at club tropical,the staff are very nice.met new friends there, the food was good and the weather was great the 2 weeks we were there. The hotel is not a 5 star, but we did not go to live in a room, just a place to sleep that was kept very clean.

Beach is phenomenal. Rooms are what you expect for a 2.5 star hotel but the buffet was decent and being right in town means access to many restaurants and markets. Staff were friendly and our stay was great overall!

We have visited Cuba for over thirty years and have stayed at five stars ..4 stars etc. Booking at a 2.5 star was a bit of a scare. We are aware certainly of the Cuban food - same as most islands. Rice -chicken- fruit- fresh bread- great cheeses and lots of vegetables. Healthy eaters actually. WELL we read the reviews and decided for the price we would take a chance as we love being in uptown Varadero mingling with the locals at their tiny outside cafes etc. There were eight of us and I must tell you this resort was a very pleasant surprise. Food was better than a number of higher end resorts we visited over the years. We were lucky to get an apartment right on the beach. Two private bedrooms with your own bathroom that you could lock. Perfect for family and friends travelling together. Then there was a kitchen and living room area. (didnt need the kitchen but had a fridge for your own personal water etc. Our balcony was 6 feet away from the sandy beach. Negatives: the only negative we had was the pool was only three feet deep...but we are all beach people. and it was still good for cooling off. Very clean !! Felt Management needed to be on top of their own employees at this resort as there was a lot of them taking food and filling bottles of booze on a dally basis...but not our concern. Walk out the front door and their is uptown Varadero. My husband walked to fish each morning with the locals and I shopped the flea markets. Would I go here again...For the price we paid...most definitely!! ..

Pour un 2 1/2 je suis plus que satisfaite, la plage, le buffet, c'était au delà de mes attente. Le service un peu lent mais on s'y fait. Faut pas être presser c'est cuba. Ma plus grande déception fut la chambre, mais bon on y passe que peu de temps donc j'ai pris sur moi, je dormirai mieux de retour à la maison. Je dirais donc que pour le prix que j'ai payer je suis entièrement satisfaite de mon voyage.

The Club Tropical is the only resort we prefer to stay in. It is small, intimate and we have made many good friends there from all over; Germany, China, Russia, France and of course Canada. The grounds are impeccable, the rooms are very clean and the service is fantastic!! We have stayed there 3 times now and are already planning our next trip in November. Of course we will stay at the Club Tropical as it has become our favorite vacation resort. It is in the perfect location to do some exploring or if you are a beach lover you couldn't ask for a better location!

Location was great and a very pleasant helpful staff. Food was typical Cuba but many good restaurants close by if you wanted in walking distance .The grounds were kept tidy and the beach was only a few steps away from the rooms unlike some of the other resorts. Internet would be a great improvement for there as the closest is four streets away .

I stayed here with my 2 children the last week of February 2018, I stayed on the second floor. Everyone was nice, helpful and the hotel, beach & pool were very clean! If i needed the tv remote or the extra towels there was no delay in getting them for me. I would recommend this hotel :) Though there is no elevator for those who need one, just an FYI :)

This hotel is just perfect. The staff are amazing. Location is great, right in the middle of everything. The pool is central to all seating areas. The beach is only steps away with a bar...showers...and beautiful sunshine😎🌴🌴🦎

Overall, good price value. Not a large variety and never any wait time at breakfast, lunch and supper. Good location, well situated, right beside the beach, many restaurants near by. Room are generaly ok, exceptable and clean. The restroom on site are usualy clean and always have toilet paper. Nothing really bad to say. The personnel are usualy ok but as usualy you have some who have problem to smile when they dont get a tip often enough. Something, the wait time at the bar are long, specialy when the do inventory and serve nobody for 5 to 10 minutes, usualy around 4 pm. As always, you can get the best room in the worst hotel or you can get the worst room any five star hotel. No comment for the pool as we never use any pool at any hotel.

Some buildings need to be torn down. Rooms are basic but we knew that ahead of time. Clean in the main building but a side building was reserved for us and it was not acceptable at all. We complained and was adamant that we refused to stay in what other guests called Guantanamo Bay. Restaurant had very few salt and pepper shakers for the quantity of guests and grabbing wars went on to get them. Lol. Juices were horrid. (Sugar water with colouring.) Lots of veggies, salads and the soups were nice. No bottled water was provided for the room. Service at the all inclusive bar was HORRID unless we had money to tip. Snack bar was hardly ever open.

Small resort located right on the beach. Located downtown Varadero. Clean room, maid Mercedes was wonderful. All staff was wonderful. Walk the strip, shopping, restaurants etc. Excellent value for the price. The food well it's Cuba, great restaurant down the road near 27, on the left El Toro's chicken supreme 4.95 chicken breast, garlic bread, salad, rice, can't beat it. Then there is Al Capone's shrimp dinner 12.95 awesome meal, the shrimp are amazing, come with side of garlic butter, shrimp, rice, veggies. I would always return to the resort restaurant to get a dish of ice cream, Cuba has the best ice cream, if you haven't tried it, well it's a must. Coconut is my fav. The pillows were not desirable but they did the trick. Ensure to bring Imodium as most places use tap water for ice. The market at 13 ave is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Everything is within a reasonable distance. We didn't partake in excursions this time but a trip to Havana is a must, at least 2 days if not more is required. Great 24 hour bar with coffee located at main reception area. They play bingo everyday at 3:30 winner gets a bottle of rum. They also have beach games, volleyball, small catamarans etc. Beach bar was open everyday but Sunday. There is a snack bar with snack and drinks located near the beach bar, closes at 5 or 6? Entertainment every night, we watched from our balcony, we looked over the main pool, entertainment area and a view of the ocean. 3rd floor, lots of stairs but nice room. 1313 nice room. Make sure to tip or leave items for the maid, she ensured we had clean room, towels, toilet paper everyday. I would be having coffee in the morning she would come visit with me hugs and kisses always given. Ensure to tip the other staff, what's a few dollars. They greatly appreciate it and you are given wonderful service whether tipping or not. But don't be cheap. One thing was my sandals I had 2 employees want to buy my sandals I had a pair of Nike and my husband addidas they say they cannot get them there. So if you have a spare pair they would love those as a tip, just a thought. The hotel did something special everyday we were there they brought in aquatic swimmers on Valentine's Day, great performance. We did get an upset stomach but it happens, I would return to this resort.

Flight - Cuban airlines offer a lot more in luggage and food and drink in the cabin than most other carriers, so bonus Border - No issues or hassles there or back, great Resort - Nice pleasant place, lots to do, lot of activities, felt like home and the staff was second to none. Room and maid service was great Lots of food and drink Cuban Culture - Although I didn't go out of Varadero that is a tourist area, I found the people happy, charming, helpful, and they love to sing and dance. Yes their music and dance full of life!! Tripcentral - You folks have been very proactive in addressing my questions and needs and you have double, triple checked all things to be done.

the resort was clean , staff was friendly ,entertainment was good,food was alright , right on the beach ,close to the markets i have 3 boys i hope to arrange at trip back to the Tropical Resort i think theClub Tropical Resort is a fair bang for your buck.

This was our third time at Club Tropical. We love it because it is small, everything is easy to access, and we were just steps from the beach. I hear people complain about the food in Cuba...but I have no complaints. There has always been variety and abundance. The staff are very accomodating. We have been remembered by certain staff and that is nice. Mostly seniors staying there (like myself!) but there have been children and young adults. No one was in-your-face obnoxious. Lots of pleasant people to speak with. We enjoy the convenience of being across from the double decker bus stop and only a few blocks from two craft markets. An elementary school is just 2 blocks away and it was nice to be able to visit it and share some of our Canadian abundance. We plan to visit again soon!

This was our second time at this resort! We enjoyed the location and the people that we meet. The staff was very nice and friendly as always! The food at this resort was better the first time around but we always found something good to eat. The one thing that we noticed is that chairs at the beach were reserved for people that never showed up!! So we would have to lay in the sand and their was about 20 spare chairs. We were up at 5 am and could never get a chair. People told me that they would pay the man at the beach to get chairs saved for them!

We spent the week of Nov.30th to Dec.9,2017 at Club Tropical. We found a really cheap deal and decided to try out Varadero. The staff was exceptional. We noticed no preference was given to any quest. Everyone was served with the same courtesy, which was nice to see. The grounds were maintained and the pool cleaned daily. The food was repetitious but we expected that as it is Cuba. The snack bar was limited to serving a ham and cheese sandwich or a hot dog (1/2 wiener). The liquor at the bars were not watered down as they do in Mexico The room's walls and ceilings are in need of a good scrub. The bed, floor and bathroom was cleaned daily. It was fine for us for one week but not for two weeks. Regardless we had a very pleasant stay.

Expect to get what you paid for. In this respect, this hotel is one of the best. The main problem, as many other have commented, is that the music is too loud. Unable to even hear the T.V. in the room. For this reason, I will not return to this hotel. ( same as others ).

Hello my booking with plane was amazing élite plus always for me thanks But as for the hotel I got hungry often and lots of kids but as for service it's ok they ran out of sandwiches often that's the only thing available between kitchen hours no fridge in room no water either but am please with my vacation thanks

J'aime cet hôtel pour plusieurs raisons! La première c'est le personnel chaleureux qui y travail! Maritza,Ernesto,Owen,Noël,et les autres sont là pour faire de vos vacances les meilleurs! Il est situé droite au centre de Varadero! On peut marcher et voir pleins de petits marchés, boutiques, restaurants ...C'est un petit hôtel avec plein de charme et un bon massage! Merci Oscar! J'ai pas manqué un repas et toujours bien manger! Pain frais, fruits, légumes, pâtes, poissons, viandes, poulet et les meilleurs ribs... Notre chambre était jolie et très propre avec un balcon vue sur mer! La plus belle plage, le sable blanc et l'eau d'une couleur inexplicable!!!

First time at this resort, second time in Cuba. The rooms and building were very clean, grounds were kept up, beach was minutes from your room. Food was o.k. Could if used more flavor but the variety was plenty. Locate is great if your looking for a place in the middle of veradero. The only thing I disliked was the cigarette smoke, smoking was allowed everywhere except dining room. I will go back again next year to this place.

This resort was by far one of the most convenient and great hotel with great staff. Madeleine, Peno, Andy, and Randy were by far the best workers we met. Madeleine and Peno worked the lobby bar, Andy worked in the buffet and Randy was the MC for the entertainment. They all looked after us and made sure we had a great stay. The rest of the staff were also great but these four went above and beyond with their services. The beach was 10 steps away and there were always chairs available and we found the perfect set which was against the fence in front of the villa suite with big trees for shade. The big market was two blocks away, along with a Chinese restaurant Lai Lai and a steak house El Toro. Both restaurants had great food if you missed the buffet. There is also a small cafe right across the street that sold delicious subs and pizza. We didn't have to walk more than four blocks for different markets or to buy phone cards. We didn't care for WiFi but we heard you can get it from Sun Beach that was two blocks away. If I could have stayed longer, I would. And I can't forget about our room cleaning service, I forget the ladies name but she was so awesome, we always went back to a clean room and full of clean towels.

This was our second stay at Club Tropical (Feb 2016 and Feb 2017) We love the small size (no lineups) and being "right on the beach". We were in 3302 (the main building) The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was restocked every day (toilet tissue and towels) Every toilet I used had a toilet seat. On our 3rd day we moved to one of the apartments as the other couple with us had mobility/health issues and the 3rd floor was too much for them. We were in 3109 and 3110. We had stayed in an apartment last year and knew they were in greater need of a renovation. The beds were not as comfortable and the AC was too loud to use. Our fridge was not working well either. None of these things were big issues as we were right on the beach (5 feet away) and we spent most of our time outdoors. The food was fine- I usually went for the same menu items- boiled egg, toast and fruit, chicken, salad and rice, and fish, salad and rice. I don't find any flavor in the pasteries - they look good, but always a disappointment when bitten into. I have found this to be the same all over Cuba. There was always ice cream. There are always choices. The cleaning maid (Mercedes) was always appreciative of the various gifts left on the bed. She had not seen a potato masher before. Staff and other guests remembered us as we did they. Some folks have been coming there for 2 decades. We had only one issue. At times when the bar staff were asked to change a 3CUC or a 5CUC we would receive only 2 or 3 CUC in return. I won't name names....just watch what you get. It is your choics as to when and how much you tip. The location is great - the bus stops right across from Tropical. We walked down in the direction of Kawarma and saw that the bus makes few trips down that way. I was there for the beach, water and sunshine. There was an abundance of all 3. I got more than my money's worth!

Perfect place for a quiet retreat. Safe, clean, friendly. Beach is superb. We are world travellers and although my hubby could not come with me for the week, he knew Cuba is a great place for safety, so we booked a low key spot for me to unwind after a busy year with 6 grandchildren and a summer having two sets of children and grandchildren living with us after the evacuation of ft. Mc Murray, family and friends visiting from New Zealand and Austria, etc., it was time for grandma to rest, and it was PERFECT.

This is a smaller hotel and is located in the downtown area of Varadero facing the main street, with excellent access to the beach, the grounds , pool area and the two lobby's are very nice and staff work hard to keep those areas clean. To compare I read some negative reviews from travellers who stayed at nicer 4 and 5 star rated hotels and was happy we chose to stay here I would be really upset if we spent twice what we paid and experience problems with food etc. You are in Cuba after all!, I read the negative and positive reviews online before booking and we decided to give this place a chance, as one of our relatives recomended this hotel, we were looking to relax on the beach not to relax at a fancy resort, having said that, we kept our expectations low, when we arrived our bus dropped us off across the street so we had to cross the street with luggage and bags to hotel, no big deal, when we walked into lobby it was late past 11 pm, but we were told the main bar is opened 24 hrs and we could get drinks and a snack if we wanted, check-in was efficient some staff friendly, our room was clean and had a safe but no mini fridge, iron, or blow dryer it was very dated! The decor was awful but clean, the curtains did not fully close because some of the hooks were missing and they didn't hang properly but it was ok we still had privacy. Door to balcony worked once you figured out how to lock and unlock.There is a nice big closet lots of storage, flat screen satellite tv, noisy air conditioner 😂( But that was ok as it was cooler when we were there, but if it was hotter weather I would have turned on the AC during the day while we were out and then turn it low for comfy sleep,) the toilet and shower worked , but we had no hot water until the next day and we had no problems after that. We later discovered that the room had been renovated!! Hehehe! There is only one restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet style, check times it's closed after each meal, food was ok , there was always something to eat, there is another bar near pool area with pool tables ad tv, there you can get sandwiches until 6 pm so that was the other option for food.The entertainment At night was really good too, more than I expected. There are many shops, bars and restaurants nearby and for 5 CUC you can ride the hop on hop off bus until 8pm, just show ticket it is valid all day , the only negatives we couldn't control was the weather, the first few days it was windy and cool, we couldn't go to the beach, but that was ok we took bus and explored Varadero, we were only there 7 days and decided we would stay longer and take Havana tour next time. It can be a little noisy at night at pool/bar area many regulars have a good time it's always "happy hour" LOL!, in summary we had a great week, kept our expectations realistic and would come back to Cuba. Most of the people were polite, BUT tip at your discretion in our experience we didn't get better service when we left tips(in some cases even worse hehehe) so we stopped tipping and service was same! LOL!!.This is an older hotel and dated but a few cosmetic updates and it would be better I really can't say anything else about this hotel , if you are looking to relax , you will find comfortable lounge chairs that were always available , on a beach which is absolutely gorgeous even on cloudy days !,If you want good value and a cleanplace this fits the bill!! Travelled as a couple. Enjoy😀

This Hotel is a smokers paradise,smoke anywhere you want,Everywhere you go ,you have the smell of ciggarettes,the rooms,in the bedding, on the towels,in the bar the dinning area etc.Came home with a horrific synus infection First three days there,no hot water.The shower drain was plugged with hair and overflowed.Just not acceptable Met a number of people from other parts of the country who travelled further than I and paid alot less than I,even though our method and time of booking were the same. I know you get what you pay for but,No way this was a thousand dollar booking, On the plus side ,direct beach access,no snow

The main building is great, I'd say 4star! The beach front building is in disrepair (though an incredible view!). Request the Main building! Food good! (Yep I said it!). Entertainment staff, programs and shows were incredible! Friendly, approachable, helpful, fun, entertaining and Yoandy speaks many languages fluently. Gorgeous beach with free catamaran rides.

Well his is a small hotel, right in the centre of Varadero. If you have mobility problems this is good hotel for you . Very close to the beach, pool, bar, restaurant. Very little walking, only a few stairs to climb for a room. Only problem is the cleaning, have crease or smoke on bathroom ceiling, asked for it to be cleaned. Maid did nothing, front desk did nothing, manager did nothing. If you stay there and are in room 1102 I wrote the date and my name I stayed here. The restaurant is full of flys, seen out houses with less. Over all for the price would stay again, all the staff were friendly even when you do not tip.

Club Tropical was an exceptional hotel with super accommodating and warm staff. It’ll always be a 5 star in my heart! As soon as I arrived at the hotel, I was greeted by the front receptionist which asked me if I wanted dinner. The hotel restaurant had already closed, but they still let me in so I could eat! I'm in my early 20's, and I’ve never traveled alone before. But at no point during my stay did I feel unsafe or alone. The staff were amazing and made me feel like I’ve known them for years. Everywhere I went, I was greeted with a smile and “hola”. The staff even learned my name, and would talk to me whenever they see me. Some even taught me Spanish, and gave me hugs and kisses when I left! The Hotel buildings has vibrant colours and was very cozy. There are no elevators, but I love stairs so that wasn’t an issue. I got a pool side room on the 3rd floor, which had amazing views of the ocean, pool, and entertainment. The room had everything I needed: clean colourful bedding, A/C, a flat screen TV, lots of mirrors and closet space. The bathroom was very clean, with ample toilet paper, soap, and a nice warm shower. The maid was amazing! She restocked the toilet paper everyday, mopped the floors, made the beds and left cute towel arrangements on the beds. The food was fabulous! There is one restaurant at the resort, with plenty of variety for breakfast, lunch and dinner and desserts. It is buffet styled, and there was even a grill guy at the end if you wanted omelets, or special lunches/dinner (like pasta or grilled shrimp). The café late in the mornings are so good! It’s a must try! There was also a snack bar near the entertainment area, but I never ate there because I was always full from the buffet. The entertainers at the hotel are amazing! I went in low season (September), so they only had shows on Friday and Sunday nights. But there were lots of other activities during the day. The music was always lively, and always ended at 11pm so people can sleep. From my room, you can barely notice the music unless I was out in the balcony. Friday night they had a Cabaret show, and on Sunday night, there was a live band with incredible singers. Both performances were well worth my time. You can tell that the entertainers put a lot of effort into organizing the shows. The bar is 24 hours, and the bartenders were quick and generous with the drinks. One time, I wanted mojitos, and the bartender made me a special mix. The Cuba Libre (coke, rum and lime juice), pina colada, and Rum Punch were my personal favourites. The beach is right at the hotel, it is beautiful and clean, and just like what you imagine from the pictures. There are tons of beach chairs and sun shelters, and it was never too busy. The life guard was very friend, and security at the beach would bring me a beach chair as soon as he saw me. The water is so blue and clear, and with goggles, you can see fishes and little jellyfishes (the little ones don’t sting). There are paddle boats, kayaks, catamaran, and even snorkeling available right at the beach. The hotel is right in the heart of Varadero, and is close to lots of souvenir stands, grocery stores, bars and restaurants. The clubs are not too far either, but that's because I enjoy walking. It is about 5 CUC if you want to cab there. There is no wifi at the hotel, but the staff were super helpful in letting me know how to get access to wifi elsewhere. The people staying at the hotel was the only slight down side for me. Most people were older (50s-60s), or families with children. From my whole trip, I only saw about 3-4 people my age (20s). But it’s because I went in the off-season, so this was expected. The people were friendly regardless, so it wasn’t an issue for me. I’ve stayed at a so-called “4 star” hotel before, but the service itself knocks it down to 3 star or lower. This hotel is rated 3 star, but it was nothing less than 5 star for me. I came in with an open mind, as I saw mixed reviews. But once I experience it for myself, I was shocked at how people can say such negative things. A guy at the bar was trying to tell me how he disliked the staff and food and facilities. You have to remember that what you expect is what you’re going to get. I expected greatness, and I got nothing less than that. I would choose Club Tropical for my next vacation in a heart beat. Thanks again to everyone there! Gracias amigos!

Just returned yesterday from a week at Club Tropical. We travelled as a group of 10, which included 6 adults and 4 children, ages 12 - 19. I picked this resort for its awesome central location and because it was a small resort (only 143 rooms, I think). We stayed in the apartments, which are definitely dated, but very roomy - 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sitting room and balcony. There was plenty of hot water and toilet paper, contrary to what I have read in other reviews. BUT the fridge was not stocked with anything, no bottled water or pop, beer. We just bought a bottle of water and had it refilled at the bar, if needed. The food was acceptable. I am a pretty picky eater, but never went away hungry. The bread is always amazing! Yes, some of the stuff is repetitive, but just don't eat the same stuff every day, unless you love it. I ate pasta twice every day because I liked it. Each to their own. Wine with lunch and supper every day was nice. Of course, the beach is the reason everyone goes to Cuba, and it was no exception here. Gorgeous white sand and 'walk right in' ocean water. We never had a problem getting beach chairs or palpalpas, even with some locals taking up some space. Here is my one major complaint with this resort. On Thursday night, I'm guessing it was a whole bus load of Cubans descended on the resort. I asked the beach bartender where they were from and she said Havana. They took over the pool, the buffet and the bar for the whole weekend. And left a huge mess behind, plastic cups and food everywhere. And to make it worse, the staff ALWAYS served the Cubans first, no matter if you were standing there beforehand or not. When Sunday afternoon rolled around, they were gone and it was peaceful once again. For this reason alone, I will not go to this resort again, which is a shame really because it is right on the main strip, within walking distance to pretty much everything. The one bright spot in our whole resort experience was Madeline, the beach bartender. She was adorable and had a smile and a 'honey' for us every time.

Our room was okay, nothing fancy. Toilet seat wasn't attached and shower curtain fell down constantly but it was clean and had plenty hot water (except weekend). Sheets were clean but covers well stained and banished to the closet on arrival! Our friends room was disgusting and had mildew throughout (very soft you could almost put your hand through the wall). Beach and pool were great. Food a bit bland with little variety but edible nonetheless. Very hard to get a drink at the bar on Friday and Saturday night - Cubans will be served first, Canadians last, if at all. Don't expect a courtesy room if you have a late flight - we were told we'd get one but didn't. Had to pay an extra 20 pesos just for a few extra hours! Great location but wouldn't go back.

The beach experience was stunning .. this small resort has a comfy homey feel with walking access to Markets, restaurants and night life. There is room for improvement however... even the best of our rooms (3 in our group) had maintenance issues... broken toilet seat, shower curtains that won't stay up, and air conditioner that banged and kept you up at night. The worst room had black mold theoughout most of the bathrooms and halfway up the walls and when brought to the staffs attention, they did nothing. There was only one pool at the hotel and the maximum depth was 4 feet so I was a bit dissappointed by this. Fortunately the beach made up for this. 5 We flew out at 10pm so needed to leave at 7pm from the hotel. We were told by our booking agents that even though we were to check out by 12 noon that we would be given a courtesy room so we could have a shower before leaving for the airport. The staff at the hotel unfortunately, so that was not the case and there would be no place for us to have a shower but if we wanted to have a late check-out they would charge us an additional charge. More than anything else this last item has left me feeling very frustrated and I feel that the booking agents were deceitful in how they portrayed what we were buying. One last item his it would be helpful if staff at some point could better Direct how to avoid sand flea bites as I came home with very painful swollen bites all over both legs from the knee down. I did use insect repellent with DEET but this did not seem to deter this sneaky, unseen but very insistent insect.

We were there Feb 27 to March 5, 2016. Had an ocean view suite (we shared a common space with another tourist in his room)Disappointed that the windows were not cleaned - hard to see through them to the ocean. We were literally less than 20 feet from the beach. The resort was clean (no garbage in or around the resort, not like closer to Havana) and the staff were friendly. We had a toilet seat, hot water, food was tasty and plentiful and were central to everything in Varadero. The beach was clean, sandy and the water was warm. Entertainment was O.K. We even played BINGO! (have never done that at home!) I'm not a pool person, but it was beautiful plus a lovely child's wading pool. I will emphasize this with my son and his family. We plan to return next year.

The hotel is quite small but that was what we were looking for this time. It is rated 2 1/2* so we knew what to expect. The rooms were small but clean with nice bathrooms and large closets. The food was excellent and being a small place no long lines at the buffet or the bar. The beach is only a few feet beyond the pool and the staff was friendly and helpful when needed. Although this hotel is located right in the middle of the town of Varadero it is perfect for a nice quiet vacation!

WE BOOKED A 2 WEEK TRIP AND WE HAD BEEN TO THIS HOTEL SEVERAL TIMES. WELL IT IS A DUMP. SO BAD THAT WE SPENT ANOTHER 900 TO GO TO A DIFFERENT HOTEL. WE HAD A 2 BEDROOM APARTMENT FACING THE OCEAN BUT THERE WAS MOULD EVERYWHERE. ON THE WALLS AND ON THE BACK OF THE CURTAINS IN THE BEDR0OM ABOVE YOUR HEAD. PEOPLE WERE HAVING THINGS STOLEN CONTINUOUSLY. IT WAS JUST RIDICULOUS. THE TIMING WAS ALSO BAD AS IT WAS SCHOOL BREAK FOR CUBANS SO THE WHOLE ATMOSPHERE WAS CHAOTIC. PUSHING AND SHOVING AND IGNORANCE FOR FOOD, FOR DRINK, ETC. WE NEVER DARED GO TO THE POOL AS IT WAS PACKED. IF YOU WANT TO BE WITH CUBANS GO TO THIS HOTEL AS IT IS NO LONGER A TOURIST PLACE TO GO. THE BEACH IS BEAUTIFUL AND LUCKILY ONLY THE TOURISTS GOT TO THE BEACH SO IF YOU CAN STAND BEING AT THE REST OF THE DUMP THAN GO AHEAD IF NOTHING ELSE THAN JUST THE OCEAN. TOTAL RIP OFF. FOOD TERRIBLE AND EMPLOYEE ATTITUDES SUCKED EVEN IF YOU TIPPED THEM. THERE IS A PHENOMINA HAPPENING IN CUBA AND IT IS NOT GOOD FOR THE TOURISTS THAT IS FOR SURE. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESORT TO ANYONE AS A TOURIST. EVEN DOWNTOWN VARADERO WAS UNFRIENDLY. NOT SURE WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CUBAN PEOPLE AND I HOPE THEY SNAP OUT OF IT WHEN THE AMERICANS COME BECAUSE THEY ARE IN FOR A BIG SHOCK. SO BE IT.

Pleasantly surprised by this small, intimate, 2.5* resort. Chosen for price and downtown location. I went with low expectations. Great choice; clean, good food (for Cuba), friendly staff, quiet, safe.

Everything was clean, nice and well kept. Would go there again cause there is so much to see in town, everything is close. The beach is so nice the best I've ever seen in all my travel. The staff is really friendly.

We went to this resort with low expectations, the reason we booked Club Tropical was the 2 bedroom apartment. The apartment worked out great, it was a bonus to be so close to the ocean, the beach at Club Tropical was one of the best I have been to in Varadero! The food was surprisingly good, we didn't go hungry. Most staff were pleasant. We would return again if the price was right!

Hotel is ok it's old and they keep it up best that they can with what there given. The staff and location is why I go back. The food was better this time, you have to remember that there serving people from many different countries.

Most of the reviews I read before going to this resort was mostly NEGATIVE except a few... Knowing it was a 2 plus * I knew it wasn't going to be a great place,,Was I wrong!!I Have stayed in 4 and 5 *'s that wasn't as good.. All 5 of us had FUN and VERY FRIENDLY SERVICE there starting when we checked in until we checked out.. BEACH..Beautiful with beautiful waves.. Front Desk..Friendly, smiling, very helpful from start to finish,even when we found one of our friends in her room unresponsive, They acted very quickly calling the ambulance and some was willing to go with us.. BAR..Any drink from coffee to tea, alcohol or not,Beer or soda, always with a smile with little or no waiting.. Room..Apartment with 2 bedroom,2 baths, 3 TV's,living room and small kitchenette with full fridge,, ENTERTAINMENT>> Very Little.. Dining..Variety of food, Omelets but NO BACON, Very good selection of bread,Chicken,spaghetti,salads and ice cream, Never went hungry,, just a little tired of it after 2 weeks... .SNACK BAR.. ...Drinks , alcohol or not.... Had Hamburgers, Hot Dogs and Ham & Cheese sandwiches for lunch or snacks until 6 PM Security guards all day and all night on the beach, POOL ..Shallow but nice and clean MASSAGE.. 10 CUC for 45 min We also got one of the guys around the resort to take us to see a great ballgame,, THANKS CLUB TROPICAL for a GREAT VACATION!!! to begin , i love cuba and its people, warm friendly country and i would not hesitat to recommend this resort, however, this particular resort is quite old (50 plus and is in dire need of repair, lack of hot water in some bldgs. the pool has only one depth, (3 ft) the beach has a wall of sand to several feet and difficult to access , i feel if some repairs were implemented, this would be an excellent resort to visit, p.s staff were excellent
