Love this hotel. Never disappoints us. Staff are the best. If you have concerns they are attentive. Food perfect and plentiful. Espresso quality is not the Cuban beans I remember. But there”s a cafe/breakfast place down the street. Drinks I cannot comment, my sister said they were artificial mixes. But beer is good. All these short comings are because of the shortages. Rooms are fine, staff is attentive and friendly. Best hotel, I come here often and this is my favourite.

This is a good location being in the centre of varadero if you want to explore the streets and avenues. The beach is good, I stayed in the lower section which is across the street from the main hotel. The first building is the better option as it away from the open air disco down the street from it. The other rooms are too close to the loud music. Lots of drinks and no shortages of food or electricity. However I did find the quality of food was very poor early in the low season. At the discounted price this hotel was a steal.

The only issue was we were given a room with lots of stairs but next day we were given a nice room service was good food excellent hotel is very clean and close to outside activities would go back loved it

2nd time staying at this resort and it was even better this time. Great location in town, very central to everything and easy to get a scooter rental a couple of blocks away. Pharmacy right across the road is handy too. The staff is awesome, the property is a good size and easy to get to everything. Highly recommend.

We have been to this hotel on many occasions. In 2025 we went three times. Hotel staff are very good and recognize us. Hotel is not extremely big but the location is why we go there. The beach is simply beautiful. Everything is close by. We will certainly return again and again

Great resort for overall value food was way better than expected and the beach was amazing …I do not have any big complaints other than maid service poor….they did a horrible job of cleaning rooms and found the maids slightly rude but all other staff were amazing and friendly.

This was a small resort but it was great. All the staff were very friendly. Everyone knows that you don’t go to Cuba for the food but the buffet always had good stuff to eat and the bread and deserts were amazing. We tried the aroma restaurants and it was pretty tasty. And if you aren’t satisfied with the food on the resort just go out the front door and find a restaurant. We tried a few along the strip and didn’t have a bad meal.

I have been to Cuba many times, this is a good resort for the budget minded and nothing more. Check in is at 4pm and check out is 1pm, which had me waiting all day for a room, very very annoying and inconvenient. The room safe was broken (batteries most likely needed replacing), I asked twice for reception to send someone to fix it, they said I had to sit and wait for someone to fix it, I gave up. The room and bed was decent and relatively clean, but the cleaners will do the bare minimum if you dont leave a tip for them. I forgot to leave a tip, because unlike other resorts, they clean your room at any random time so I didnt know when to leave a tip. The ladies working the main bar by reception were great, I always tip and they gave good service. The men working the bar had an attitude, and making a coffee that was drinkable was a challenge for them. If you cant make a proper coffee, you should go find something else to do, especially if im leaving tips. My biggest concern was the smell of rotten milk coming from the main bar, which lasted for 2-3 days. Clean your bar, the smell of rotting milk is something we dont want to smell every morning. I only ate at the main buffet dining room, and was very selective on what I ate. The bread was excellent, everything else was ok. If you want to eat good food and not get sick, the main Varadero strip is where you should be eating. This is a budget resort, dont expect quality food. The Cubans staying and working at the resort were mostly welcoming and cheery, the tattoo slathered French-Canadian whales, not so much. Being surrounded by low class low budget drunks who yell expletives is what to expect. The beach is as nice as any other resort in Varadero, to sum it up, an excellent price for what you get, but this is what you get.

The resort was nice. The maid service was terrible,we had to hunt down maids for towels and toilet paper Put in complaints with the front desk,and with our west jet rep Still no service. In social areas someone was always cleaning but away from them no Our floor was never swept. Food ok ,staff ok.

Rooms are a little dated, starting to update. We had a bright clean room ,new TV was put in, has 110v plug in bathroom and beside one night table. No elevator, 3 floors only. Food was basic but satisfying, no beef available or shrimp, very quiet resort, small pool. In the heart of Varedaro.. central to bars, restaurants, grocery store. Would recommend. Stunning beach

I usually rent a casa but the last 2 times decided to go back and try the resort style. Normally I like to mix with the locals eat the local food and have many friends there. The first time I visited this resort was in June. And now again beginning of September. I honestly I am not picky I have slept in some of the most rustic houses in the country. But this resort the rooms need deep cleaning. Some of things you can’t change just outdated but electrical outlets hanging out no lighting dirty sheets even when changed. Dirty towels. The cleaning girls have no control and do the best they can. My cleaning lady even carried a new fridge to me because mine was not working. The food was amazing I thought no complaints! I am a person who tips everyone or try’s to make sure each person gets something from me. But the staff at this time did not seem very happy or very friendly. I know the problems and desperation Cuba is under but I tryed my best to help and still go many who were just plain old cranky. A few outstanding ones but I also found this time it’s constant trying to get something from tourists using stories of how many babies they have at home just crazy the amount of tipping they expect. To the point I had to stop engaging with some. I think if the workers spent more time fixing the problems at the resort such as cleanliness and chile more I would feel more comfortable. Also the beach omg! I have gone to Cuba here more then 30 times and never seen this beach so dirty the amount of beer cans plastic paper just terrible garbage everywhere. What happened Cuba! The ocean needs to be restored and kept clean and all I see is garbage and people throwing cans on the street on the beach. It just made me so sad. I’m not sure I would return to this place probably go back to renting. Love Cuba and the people but it hurts my soul to see how they have become so rude and just faking all to get things and opportunities.

The hotel staff is great as per the food. The hotel is a bit old but the emplacement is just amazing. The beach is just amazing, probably the best beach of all Cuba with amazing color... Can't wait till I go back!

I love this hotel but I didn’t get the room I requested. I had requested standard so that I could be in the main building. I got colonial instead and it was far from the main building. They say it’s an upgrade but it is not at all. I hope that next time I request standard that I receive it! Por favor!

Food was tasty, pool was great, beach was even better! We stayed in an eco room which is not directly attached to the resort but was a block away, we thought it might be inconvenient but it really wasn’t. In fact, we felt it was better than being attached to the rest of the hotel. Lots of things to do, and you’re in the heart of Varadero. I would stay there again for sure!

Very clean hotel with friendly staff. A bit noisy because of the clubs nearby. Beautiful beach and hotel pool. As for the food, there was lots to eat but always the same thing every day. We knew before going to Cuba that this could happen because they have difficulty getting shipments of food. I would recommend this hotel to friends.

I was alittle skeptical about trying another resort, I’ve been a Kawama repeater for numerous years. However I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The food was good, flavourful and you won’t go hungry. The pool was clean and plenty of seating. However I don’t recommend a room over the patio, bar. It gets noisy. All the maids were wonderful very thankful for gifts. The bartenders are great, and the Coffee is great. All in all I will return again this September 2025.

This is the 3rd time in under a year we have been to this resorts. We like the freedom of this location beeing right in town We can walk any place we want and have options for different restaurants if we want . The food is always consistent and good and never have a hard time finding food to eat. The beach is the best and we have the last 2 times stayed in the eco rooms in block 2 and have no complaints.

This hotel is one of the oldest in Varadero. You’re right in the heart of it all! With that being said in some areas of the hotel, there will be very minimum sleep. I suggest to bring ear plugs. This resort was clean updated and the food was amazing. Of course the staff is very sweet and accommodating to every need. I will definitely be back!

We had the pleasure of staying at starfish cuatro Palmas in Varadero. Great friendly and helpful staff. Delicious food, big chooses and varieties. Beautiful beach ⛱️ and near by town with plenty of restaurants, bars, nightclub and wonderful park. Will definitely recommend and go back to enjoy

The best hotel in Cuba. Amazing staff. Good food. Clean. We have been here many times. It's like going home to us. We go 2 to 3 times a year. I would recommend this resort to anyone who is looking for an at home feeling.

Beautiful Small hotel in touristy area of a tourist town, beautiful beach, older hotel but clean, food is as available and well prepared, main buffet is still being renovated, the a la cartes are very well presented, the staff is a joy. If you are prepared to deal with Cuba shortages and touristy activities and music going on past 9:30 pm, you can let yourself have an excellent vacation. We are already preparing to return. Star rating for food allows for Cuba shortages, what they can get you can have.

Arrived at hotel at 11am. Checked in..to my surprise my room was not in the main building. It was in the "2000' located across the street. The rooms on this side of the street are very noisy and surrounded by local clubs..one which stays open until 3am. Bring earplugs! Also I was told I was not able to get a beach towel until after 4 pm the following day and that I had to get it from my room cleaner. Not easy task to locate her. This was super frustrating. The main building was great. The food was good..and staff were great.

I’ve been to varadero before, and hands down, you will not find a quality resort like this for the price. Food is the same everyday but thankfully you’re downtown! Lots of restaurants to choose from if you are bored with the food. Cleanest beach out of all the beaches! Great amazing staff- I’ll be coming back for sure.

I would recommend you book a room in the hotel away from the avenue. I was put onto a room across the avenue right beside the discos that were open until 3am. When we asked to change rooms the draft directed me to speak with sunwing as it was not their responsibility. I found the staff not very helpful, when I arrived we asked if we could get a sandwich as the buffet was closed. The staff informed us they had nothing like that available in the hotel, i found out three days later from a guest who was off to get a hamburger that the hotel has a 24 hour snack bar. There were no signs in the hotel letting guest know about all of the ammentitues in the hotel. (Ie) 24 hour snack bar, al-a-carte resturants, gym etc. Be careful about what you read on this hotel on trip adviser, they have an aggressive manager asking guest to fill out a review on the hotel, he would then rewrite your comments to what he would most likely for people see. I had no problem withbthe food in the buffet, mostly chicken, fish, pork and some beef, with a nice spaghetti bar. It is my second time at this hotel and I like it for it's location, centre of the peninsula and walking around varadero, good beach also. However I find varadero is very north Americanized. its appearance and getting more like any city in canada. Lots of shops and discos.

Dated hotel and definitely needs some upgrades. Took me 4 days to get a remote for TV and hangers for my room. It wasn’t until I asked to speak to the manager that they moved me to a room that had both. The maid took some items that were not left for her then left me a note thanking me. I did tell front desk and they did not really seem concerned. After that I left everything locked in my suitcase. Food, it’s Cuba so I was not expecting much. Best part of resort is location and the beach.

Regardless of the fuel shortages on the island this is still a great place for a great vacation. Safe and wonderful beaches with the greatest location in town. Thanks to all the staff that made possible this great holiday !

Lovely resort for adults only. The resort has a certain "Dated Charm" that is really what Cuba is. It encapsulates the sense of the old eras and therefore appeals to an older crowd. We found it well suited to what we were looking for, relaxation, comfort and there was enough food and drink for everyone. Some things about the place need some work. The room was comfortable, but the curtains were tattered and close to falling off. The outdoor grounds are well kept, but more attention needs to be put into maintaining the rooms. We had issues with our A/C for three of the 7 nights we were there - finally it was resolved. Cuba Time as apposed to "Standard repair time". The pool was wonderful, the ocean gorgeous, the atmosphere delightful. Someone needs to get new drapes or fix the old ones......

Was here i July. It was my second stay at this resort. What can I say the resort staff are very friendly and the food the best I've had at a resort in Cuba. The manager went above and beyond to make our stay amazing. The animation team keeps u entertained. A special thanks to Juan Pablo for accommodating our needs. While with cuba u have to expect some corks. Especially post covid. Some times there are shortages of things but always replenished the next day. Beach is amazing and the location the best if you are looking to shop or party outside resort. Will definitely be back.

We enjoy a small resort and this is the best! Beach, pool, dining, bars and rooms all less than 5 minutes away. Staff all friendly and ready to listen. Special shout-out to Ms Sosa, Dary, Angel, Yan and super hero poolman Mario! This was my 2nd visit and I am looking forward to returning.

This was my second stay at this resort, first time was twelve years ago. For me, its about the size of the resort, and Starfish Cuatro Palmas is the perfect size. This trip, paid a little extra for a room on the resort, well worth not having to walk across the street from the econo building( which also was great). Greeted every day by friendly staff, cleaning staff, ground keepers and security staff. The food was great, plenty of items to choose from in the buffet. Each day fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, lots of chicken, pork, beef and seafood. Pasta station each day for lunch and dinner, dessert selection amazing and the breads, the best I've had in the twenty years i have been going to Varadero. Lobby bar was good for basics, but the Cuban bar on the resort was outstanding as was the a la carte dining. Some items, unfortunately were not in stock at all times, but this is a global issue, not just Cuba. Location of resort is the best, as the area across the street is now The Boulevard, full of little restaurants and such. The wifi at the resort was far better than expected, so communicating home was not an issue. Can't wait to return for my next visit.

The hotel is small very easy to get around and beautiful views. The staff are gracious and quick to help with any concerns. Our room was ocean view a beautiful view from each door one the ocean and one the pool! Housekeeping staff do an amazing job and are very helpful. It was definitely notable there are food shortages so if you need your condiments take them with you! Also I was very disappointed they did not have wine all week! Not sure why this happened. The hotel assistant manager is out and about and always free for a chat. We love the location it is close to the park bars shopping and lots of Cuban life to see. The beach is amazing!

I am very aware that supply is short in Cuba and you have to take it in stride. I always go with a full carry on of Canadian supplies to leave. Medical supplies, toiletries, school supplies, kids toys ect. But I have a real problem when I am not provided a basic need of life. I even brought my own toilet paper but I should not have to provide my own water. We were given two 1l bottles in our room on arrival. Then nothing. The lobby bar wouldn't even give out water. So we resorted to buying at the store next to the lobby. Until they stopped taking cash and would only accept credit cards. After day 2 of no water I expressed my concern to the ladies in the store and all of a sudden....they took cash! I love Cuba, have been many times. But if I cannot drink the water from the tap and I'm paying thousands of dollars to go there, I expect water to be supplied.

2nd time here and would return, easy access to beach, pool, restaurant, bar....no long walks! The beach is clean and water so clear (see colorful fish passing by). The food is delish and varied, and entertainment is awsome. Our room was well kept and cleaned daily by our maid. Stalls is friendly and helpful if u need anything. Will return again.

This was our second time here - and this is our absolute favorite resort in Varadero. The location is absolutely wonderful! The food was very good. The chocolate ice cream was wonderful! We make sure to not book the eco rooms - as these rooms are removed from the main part of the resort. This is an older resort which is not artsy fartsy- but affordable and in a great location. The beds were very comfortable.

I stayed at the Starfish Cuatro Palmas Dec 14-21, 2022. I travelled alone and I chose this resort as I had been there April 2019 and I liked the atmosphere and location. I felt safe here, at the resort and the surrounding area. The location is perfect as you walk out the main entrance and can explore local markets, parks with no hassle from anyone. If you get tired you can hop in a cab, a coconut taxi or horse and carriage. You could tell the resort wasn't to capacity as there was a noticeable decrease in activity from my April 2019 stay. That was ok as there was never a shortage of loungers! The resort is a true 3.5 star. You will find plentiful staff keeping the main areas tidy and clean. Speaking of staff, everywhere I walked on the resort grounds all staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was good. I thoroughly enjoyed their pork, fish and chicken. Had a salad with every meal and natural yogurt each morning. Several of the ladies that worked the main buffet restaurant were so kind and sweet with me. (Special shout out to Isumi. Absolute sweetheart with a sharp sense of humour!) Pasta station, Egg station, sweets, breads, buns, beans, rice and chocolate ice cream. See - you won't go hungry. My room was on the second floor facing the street. To be honest, I didn't mind the nightly serenade, lol, from the bar directly across from my room. The balcony had 2 seats and would get several hours of direct sun, should you want some private time. The lady that cleaned my room was lovely. My towels were old and rough and as I was solo I was happy to reuse my towels; but, on a couple of occasions I placed towels to be switched out on the floor only to find they were refolded for reuse? I got brand new soft towels on my last night there haha. I used my blue beach towel the whole week as the kiosk that would normally switch out the towels was under construction. Then again, I could have asked. I was all good to reuse. The room needed a thorough cleaning - lampshades, closets and even the bathroom. The mini fridge worked perfect and I appreciated the daily bottle of water. The air conditioner was WONDERFUL and was programmable to as low as 16. Overall my room was basically clean and comfortable. The fitness room is topnotch! The picture the website shows is bang on. It is also monitored should you need assistance with your workout or just a friendly person to chat with! The beach. Spectacular. The activity staff were always on point to take resort visitors out on a catamaran ride or use the kayak. They monitor the safety of the wind/waves as there is a dedicated Starfish lifeguard constantly walking the beach. The pool and area was always clean and clear with plenty of loungers. I didn't do any excursions this time as I did a couple in 2019. I strongly recommed getting into Havana, whether by tour bus or private cab. The party catamaran excursion was fantastic. Do it! I took CDN funds and exchanged $100 for local currency. I didn't do my research to ensure I brought US funds. I tipped in CDN and local but when I return to Cuba, in April, I'll be bringing small US bills. Overall, I had a relaxing and enjoyable time at this resort/location and I wouldn't hesitate to return again. Have fun!

Starfish Cuatro Palmas is almost back to pre-covid operations. There were a few fairly small issues to be worked out before they get a "10" from me. 1) no "snacks" were available between regular meal times. 2) It was impossible for us to book the ala carte dining. One day we were even told it was "Italian night" and you had to be Italian to book! How did they know I wasn't Italian, and why was it segregated anyway? It should be open to ALL! 3) I only had hot water for a shower twice all week. The rest of the time the ocean was warmer! 4)A tray of pastries used to be placed in the lobby bar each morning. I loved sitting there with a coffee and pastry. Unfortunately, that is no longer a practice. Again, pretty small issues, but something to rectify. On the plus side, the staff was amazing and there was free wifi! So, I'd offer a solid 7 of 10 at this time. I'd return and recommend!

Service - some are good some are really Bad expects Tips. (i tipped to employees who work at the back of the department, like kitchen cleaners , dishwashers, public area cleaners etc, do not tip to Servers they make tons of money everyday. Room - do not book Eco rooms, they are not in the same building. across the road you will have to walk from main building. you feels like you are not in the hotel. pool- pool is not deep , you will feel like kids Pool Night Entertainment - very Poor shows at the hotel.. very few people watch it. conclusion- if you want night entertainment, like nightclubs, restaurants ,this is the hotel to stay you do not have to spend money on taxies. if you like quite and good food , service. look for some other hotels.

Fantastic resort with a great location! The food, music, beach, and pool were all outstanding. This is by far the best resort we’ve visited in Varadero. The only issue we had was a flight delay on the way home. Unfortunately, we we’re not notified at our hotel so it was a very long way home.

i would say almost every things in this hotel is very good the lobby and the restaurant end the pool and the bar there is the flyes buthering the people but flyes dont pick which is good but in all i am very satisfied

I had been in 8 different hotels in Varadero, for the past 8 years. I can share with all my fellow canadians that the food at Cuatro Palmas is really good, the Hotel is in the middle of the entertainment area of Varadero, I wish my vacations were longer than 7 nights to enjoy even more , but I have to get back to reality.

Our first contact, being the front desk employees, didn't provide much welcoming. The Hotel does not exchange money on their property and our inquiry as to where we could do money exchange was not answered. Other than an upgraded water system, the oceanfront room we had was in need of upgrading. Was unable to use the safe as it would not open. When we told the front desk, she advised us to use our room key. I can't speak about other safes on the property, but ours was not the type to be used with a room key. Other than on the day of check-in, bottled water was never supplied to our room during our one week stay. For the first four days of our stay (Sunday through Wednesday), no wine was available for lunch or dinner, or at the bars. Coincidently, when inspectors were on the property (for star rating inspection) Thursday through Saturday, the bar was fully stocked and wine was available with meals. The staple at lunch or dinner was chicken or pork. When inspectors arrived on Thursday, they added lamb chops as a selection, however, they were so tough, I couldn't eat them. Not even a bite. Much the same with bacon at breakfast time. When the inspectors were there, it suddenly became available. Perhaps some of the issues with the bar and dining room may be a 'supply' issue ?? The beach was great, as was the pool. This property may require a better 'hands-on' with a good manager. The manager back 6-7 years ago was great.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Starfish Cuatro Palmas. The beach was beautiful with white sand and crystal blue waters. The food was great with lots of choices in fresh fruit and veggies. The staff were caring and wonderful. We will be back.

I have been to Varadero 4 times and I have to say that Starfish Cuatro Palmas is definitely a great place to stay. The staff is very welcoming and efficient. My room was very good with hot water, nice view to the nightlife in the heart of Varadero; hot water, A/C working very well all night & day. The food was better than the usual food served in Cuba. The beach is as the usual breathtaking turquoise warm water and white sand in Varadero. The resort is huge and such a nice place to relax. I'll be definitely going back to Cuatro Palmas. I have never been back to the other 3 resorts, but Cuatro Palmas, I'll for sure. it has a better infrastructure. Also, for being a 4-star resort, we have wifi for free and I had no connection issues with their wifi.

This a wonderful resort located in the heart of Varadero. All your amenities such as the lobby bar, pool area and the buffet restaurant with in walking steps. Beautiful rooms, especially ocean view or even the ones overlooking the pool. The staff make you feel like you are part of their family. A very very clean and well kept resort. This has been our 4th stay here, and have no desire to look for any other resort. And the beach area is just breath taking. Strongly recommend staying there if your visiting Varadero, Cuba.

We have both been to Cuba many times before and we love it and were really looking forward to trying this resort based on the reviews we had read, but sadly we didn't have an ideal experience. There are many positives - it is very clean, the staff are friendly and service is excellent. Our room and the public areas were very clean and comfortable. Also the location is fantastic, the beach gorgeous with plenty of beach chairs and there is lots of activity. However, there were also drawbacks. We were in the Colonial section, which is charming and convenient. However the door of our room was not properly sealed (there was a noticeable gap around it, which my husband stuffed with toilet paper at nights - but we always had mosquitoes in the room. Plus it was quite noisy. Our air conditioning and tv both worked well, but our hot water was lacking. It took ages to heat up and then there was just barely a dribble of pressure. Another couple we spoke to stayed in the economy rooms across the street and they were much happier with their renovated suite - so perhaps that is the better option. Finally, we both got sick with stomach complaints, which had never happened to either of us before on our many trips. My husband early into our holiday and me towards the end. We also heard from other guests who were ill. Fortunately there is an excellent health clinic across the street which helped. All in all, we do not feel inclined to visit again, sadly.

We have been to Cuba Many times in the past, but this time we hit the jackpot with Starfish Cuatro Palmas right in the heart of Varedero, close to many local nightspots and a safe neighborhood. We were in the quieter section of the Hotel in Las Palmas Bunglow 2 which is a across the street from the main complex, a quieter section. Though rated as 3 stars due to its room size, this resort has 5 stars, service, food, and entertainment. The quality of food is above par with excellent and a large choice in the buffet room. The a la Carte restaurants, both Cuban & International are also excellent and gastronomic meals are carefully prepared and gracefully served. Occasional beach BBQ and entertainment is a treat, The beautiful beach is literally connected to the hotel, and great drinks and cold Cerveza served, though the coffee’s in the pool bar is piss poor. It is an easy-going and fun loving place. Muslim Harji Montreal.

We have enjoyed this resort many times - good location/close to live entertainment/very good hotel shows, especially the excellent R&R band that had everyone up dancing, the friendly and welcoming staff, very good food and restaurants, proximity to the beach... The sole problem that we experienced with the hotel, and we were alerted to the construction only after we booked, was the noise and dust around the pool from the lobby re-construction. We are requesting a cash rebate because of this, no advanced warning prior to booking, flight delays and placing us in dangers in frigid conditions without any hotel compensation in TO to avoid the weather and delays. This was compounded by the fact that our Sunwing flight # 685 to Toronto was delayed by 1.5 hours arriving and taking off. Surprisingly, the airport monitor said it was on time and them just prior to the general boarding time, the flight disappeared from the monitor (we have the pics), there was no one at the boarding station, and it seems as though the information agent went into hiding, negating any contact with family members in TO. When the plane was boarded, there was no orderly by seat # calls. We arrived in the middle of the night (330) to approx -20 wind chill and a dangerous drive home at that time, which induces drivers falling asleep at the wheel.

Best hotel I've been to in Cuba and it's the 8th one I've tried. The entertainment crew (animadores) are amazing and so much fun, especially Josué, Ivan, David. I'll always return to this hotel from now on. The food, location, services is also all very good.

My wife and I love this little adult only resort. (our kids are grown now, haha) It checks all the boxes for us. LOCATION: Downtown Varadero. SIZE: Smaller resort. SERVICE: All staff, amazing. CONDITION: Good, noticeable improvements. FOOD: Decent. BEACH: Amazing. These are my opinions. My advice, when choosing a resort, do your research! There are so many sources nowadays. Make yourself a checklist. This was our second time there. We are planning to return in April. I think that speaks for itself.

We have been to Varadero multiple times and this is our favourite hotel. Is it the biggest? No. Is it the fanciest? No. Is it the most expensive? Definitely No. What we love about it is that it blends the two things we love in Varadero - the beach and the nightlife. The hotel is located right on the beach so you don't have to walk through giant grounds for 15 minutes just to get to the water - you step out of your room and a minute later you're picking your recliner. In the evenings you are right on Ave Primera and across the street from one of the most-fun places in the city - Calle 62 outdoor cafe and bar with their nightly shows and dancing. Also across the street is Casa De Chocolate ... I believe that speaks for itself, and a convenient small shopping plaza. Other restaurants, cafe's and clubs are also within an easy walk, as is the newly opened medical centre. The staff are great, with one of the best attitudes in any hotel we tried in Varadero and they are always eager to help. From bartenders to dining room staff to room staff each one has made our stay a pleasure. And no, I'm not getting paid to write this - it's the simple truth. If you are the kind of traveler that needs 5+ star service and likes to remain only within the hotel complex than this is not a hotel for you. But if you like the convenience of a good hotel while being close to the town's attractions then you could hardly do better in Varadero than SCP.

We had a two-week stay at Starfish Cuatro Palmas at the end of June 2019. It's located right in Varadero and within walking distance of Josone Park and many ltttle restaurants. We booked an ocean-view room, and the view from the third floor is spectacular. The room itself was small, plain, and clean, although we sometimes noticed a “sewer” type of smell coming from the bathroom. Our room had a king-size bed that was quite comfortable, with clean crisp bedding. The pillows were not so comfortable! We had no complaints about the food—it was plentiful and good, although meals might be a challenge for vegetarians and vegans. We appreciated the varied selections of cheeses and the regular supply of fresh fruit at every meal (mangoes, papayas, grapefruit, guava, bananas). The beach is gorgeous with silky white sand (although tourists are to blame for the many cigarette butts littering the beach), and the ocean was clean, calm and warm. We didn't use the pool much but it looked great and was regularly maintained. Everyone on staff was friendly and welcoming. We didn't go to the evening shows but we did enjoy the live music in the lobby bar around dinnertime.

This was my first time ever being to Cuba but Kens second time. I found that the resort (Starfish Cuatro Palmas) was a beautiful spot to stay at. The room we had was overlooking the street. The staff members were all very friendly, helpful and understanding where I could not speak the language too well. The bar, beach, swimming pool and the dining areas were right there at our disposal. I was so overwhelmed by everything. I has the greatest time of my life being there.Ken and I went on two day trips.This was another part of the enjoyment and thrill for me. I enjoyed being at Varadero, Cuba and hopefully we will be returning back within the next 2 years. I will say that "I LOVE CUBA"

I love this place..friendly staff..the whole outdoor setting...awesome! Great location! Entertainment was great.....Very clean...Bathrooms were closed off due to plumbing problems for my last three days..was very inconvenient to go to the other one on the other side of pool???

This resort is a small resort, which we do prefer. It was our first time staying here, check in went smoothly and the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The welcome cocktail was a super nice touch. As stated we prefer small resorts but we did find this one somewhat too small. Not in room numbers or people numbers but in outdoor space. It seemed like a lot was crammed into a small geographical space. The outdoor sitting at the lobby bar only had 6 small tables which were filled all the time. Your next choice to sit outdoors with a cocktail was on a pool lounger, if you were lucky to find one. We've done other small resorts and found the outdoor spaces to be more spread out Food was good in the buffet, however they seemed to be lacking in glassware and utensils. Staff were very attentive at clearing plates away, one being taken while I was still eating from it. One evening we observed a waitress removing used water glasses from table, dumping the contents into a bucket, wiping it with a rag then putting it out for use. From that point on we took our own bottled water to our meals and stopped ordering a glass of wine. I didn't however see this happen again, just that one time. We didn't get to try the a la cartes as it seemed we didn't make it down to breakfast in time to book. The resort is clean, staff are constantly cleaning and mopping floors. Our room was cleaned to perfection every day and our maid was amazing!! The lobby washrooms were clean most of the time. I was approached in the bathroom by a staff member asking if I had any gifts for her. The main draw for us to this resort is it's location. Right in Varadero and close to our favorite restaurants and shopping.

It still felt comfortable and welcoming. Previously there December, 2017. Food seemed to be even better. Also the entertainment was good. Staff were grateful for gifts of clothes and misc. gifts. It will now be our 'go to' place in Cuba in future

The hotel is beautiful amazing close to everything amazing pool Excellent people great food great chefs amazing family I go their to this resort every 6months and this year I was very disappointed ☹️ with the rooms I changed room 3 times fridge full of mould washroom as well toilet broken sink was halfway hanging from the wall blow dry very old rustic this time I was so disappointed for the amount that I paid its not worthed very very disappointed ☹️ they need to really do some renovations on the rooms

We love this hotel, the location the beach are second to none. We were fans of the former Hotel Internacional and the beach is the same being 500 yards away. Requests for rooms are not given even if you request three months out. I have worked in hotels for over forty years. If the hotel cares it happens. Our hotels make everyone happy, if the unusual happens and we can't fulfil (almost never) we compensate somehow. All we wanted was three on the same floor....the maid said she did six check outs that day we arrived ...sad. Will not go back

The resort is ideally located on a beautiful beach and the main street of the town. it is very safe. It has 2 Alacarte dining rooms and an exceptable buffet. The entertainment is good with a variety of shows.

This hotel need some serious upgrades, Rooms are dirty full of mosquitos stained walls, the rooms smell not clean, doors don't close properly, no " do not disturb" signs, on doors, one room didn't have a toilet seat, not enough public bathrooms and no toilet paper or soap only in the morning by afternoon not replaced, The girls at front desk are nice the bellmen are nice, the lobby bar men are nice if you tip them, the pool is nice, the beach is nice, the buffet breakfast closes at 10am (crazy), lunch starts at 1pm, dinner starts at 6pm, lunches and dinners were very good 4* location very good across the street from 3 bars very entertaining.

We spent a week at Starfish Cuatro Palmas at the end of June, and had a very nice time. The resort was perhaps half-full, if that, so selection at the buffet was a little limited but still, we always found something to eat. The International a la carte restaurant is set up on a spacious veranda overlooking the beach—very nice to watch the sun setting over the ocean as you dine al fresco. We had an oceanview room. It was small and plain, but clean and adequate for our needs. The bathroom had a faint latrine smell so we kept the door closed. The theatre performances are very amplified but things seemed to wrap up around 11 or so, so noise wasn’t a problem for us. The music club, Calle 62, is right across the street so if your room faces in that direction you will hear noise till well into the wee hours. Our ocean facing room was quiet. Staff, for the most part, were polite and friendly. The beach is gorgeous, with plenty of loungers. We enjoyed our vacation and would stay again.

This small adult resort was perfect for what my small group of friends was looking for. It is very clean, people are friendly and speak various languages. The beach and water is beautiful with plentiful new loungers. The food is good 'for Cuba' and many close by restaurants and bars for affordable nights out if you wish. I would recommend this resort for a relaxing vacation.

This resort is near dowtown so is great for walking. Also Close to entertainment. This is the third time we stayed at this resort , the second time with our family of eight and we can say it gets better every time. Our rooms were in the Colonial section which was nice and quiet. The staff were all great with great service and of the 30 times we have been in Cuba, for a small resort, the Cuatro Palmas had one of the best selections and tastiest food we have come across. We would have no problem staying here again.

Prime location is why we picked this resort. It's across the street from Cale62 and short walk from the Beatles bar. There is a Bank one street down, and some restaurants close. We stayed on the 3rd floor and the rooms where clean, and nice. There have new mini splits and lcd tv's. The beach is basically in the resort, so we stayed there pretty much all day. I actually didn't go in the pool, but there was people in it all week. The food was the best I've had in Cuba, and the staff was nice.

The Pros This was the first time to Cuba and we had a great time and a wonderful experience in Varadero and the Cuatro Palmas was just perfect. The hotel is a smaller size hotel and is well located in the more quieter area of Varadero and our room was 110V so no 220V adaptor required, it was nice and large and very clean and quiet. The large pool and beach were great and the daily and evening entertainment was good. All the staff were very nice and friendly and our chamber maid Maresleodys was very nice and did a great job! The food buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner was great, tasty, hot and with lots of variety. Abel at the beach bar was a great bartender and we enjoyed talking with him as well as Abelito the bartender of the Cuba Bar, which we spent many evenings at, was very friendly and very nice to talk to and he made us amazing drinks. There is also a medical clinic across the street as well as a market. Karine, our Sunwing representative, was excellent and her French and English are very good and she gave us a tour of the hotel facilities and told us all about the activities and things the hotel has to offer. We really enjoyed our vacation and our experience at this hotel Cuatro Palmas and Varadero’s beautiful fine white sand beach. We went on the paddleboat and the catamaran, which was so much fun as well as enjoyed the food, music, entertainment and the drinks, lots of drinks!!! We will be back again next year and do it all over again! The Cons Make sure you bring toilet paper and always carry a roll with you as we found out that everywhere from the moment we arrived in Cuba at the airport or at the hotel or other restaurants, the toilet paper is no where to be found . At the hotel, in the morning there is toilet paper available but after lunch or in the evening, there is often non available even in the hotel lobby’s washroom. Unfortunately you cannot chose with whom and the other vacationing guests staying at your hotel. There were a lot of English and French Canadians and some international guests staying at the hotel. A lot of French Canadians from Quebec were rude, disrespectful and had no manners and cannot say hello, please and thank you in any language including French. A few of them were just plain idiots taking loud, singing and swearing at the pool, on the beach and in the restaurants like they were the only one at the hotel and like they were home drinking in their garage.

We stayed at Cuatro Palmas resort from March 1-15, 2018. This is our fourth time at this location, we stayed across the street in the bungalows this year and loved it. We usually stay at the main hotel where the rooms are dated, however across the street is renovated, quiet and has a courtyard where you can have a relaxing breakfast. Once again the staff is the main attraction as they are warm and welcoming people offering great friendly service built on relationships. The food is good, dining staff wonderful and the beach is beautiful. Front desk team very helpful, cleaning staff, security staff and everyone in between are fantastic. Special mention for Alberto, Javier, Mario, Duall, Fernando and the entire amazing team at Cuatro Palmas.

The resort is as expected, quaint and a bit older. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable. Food: average Beach: amazing - beautiful beaches, and amazing aqua blue water Trip was decent up until Wednesday - both my husband and I got extremely sick at the exact same time, which ruined the rest of the days there. Thursday spent in bed, and Friday barely able to be outside too. Saturday we flew home. To be honest, the way the grilled meat was cooked was concerning. They used tongs to pull raw meat out of a bin. Those same tongs were used to flip the chicken on the grill, then put directly back into the raw meat. Then again pulled from raw meat to put chicken on plate. That was the same night we both got violently ill. I feel it likely played the biggest role in us getting so sick.

Good value, good service, and great location in Varadero make this hotel a solid choice. Food is typical Cuban, drinks were good, and the pool was large and clean. The real attraction here is the beach. Beautiful, clean, and the water is clear. No water shoes needed as the white sand goes on and on. The area is safe and good for walking and exploring the local clubs and bars.

We just got back from starfish cuatro palmas. Food was excellent and plentiful, rooms were clean, public bathroom were clean and had flowers in them Entertainment was outstanding and the rock band was the highlight of the entertainment. Beach was amazing. Staff were beyond pleasant and helpful. Will definitely be back.

Have stayed in larger resorts (Cuba, Mexico and Dominican) but loved the intimate feel of Starfish. Everything from reception, buffet, pool, entertainment, a la cartes, beach and town of Varadero at our fingertips. Older resort but has recovered unbelievably from storm devastation. Wonderful staff were constantly cleaning (Yadianas, our housekeeper was a sweetheart) and buddy Mario (& Michael)kept the pool area spotless. Beautiful Elimay always making sure everything was ok as did Carlos. Enjoyed the buffet (thank you Noidae and Juliette)and the a la cartes were excellent. Love the idea of booking those just inside the buffet the morning of. No line-up, very easy. We've never had a better view than our room(#1339) with ocean off balcony and pool view on other side. Can't forget Abel either-our charming bartender found quite often at the Bucanero(sp?) beach bar. Randy, Amel, Lulu and others kept us as busy as we chose with great games & dance lessons poolside afternoons.We even had a fantastic 'Rock Show' at the poolside stage one day which was every bit as good as the Beatles Bar entertainment. Weather was sunny & 80's all 9 days-perfect for walking the endless powder sand beach which was cleaned every daybreak! Met wonderful fellow travellers from across Canada and from Germany but can't wait to return to our new Cuban "family" in 2018.

great location. great beach. friendly and efficient staff. worth upgrading to the colonial section. it may not have 5 star food or 5 star rating but after 30 years of coming to Cuba and staying in different areas and resorts we have found our favorite. felt comfortable and relaxed as soon as we arrived. we will go back.

Simply amazing. Rooms could use updating but we had no problems whatsoever. Easy access to incredible beach. Staff more than helpful. Location perfect, close to many restaurants, bars and parks. Stayed in economy section and to our surprise, breakfast buffet was just a few steps away.

From the Beatles bar to the markets everything was a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel was good nice rooms and a dynamite beach and pool( sorry no swim up bar)the staff were ok but it seemed like they would only pay attention to you if you tipped for every drink order

Stayed from Oct 1 - Oct 8. It was a great vacation. The hotel and staff are amazing. Fantastic location with an incredible beach. Would definitely visit this resort again in the future and would recommend it to all of my friends.

We liked the location. The food was good. The staff ere pleasant. The entertainment " shoooooowtime" was impressive. The sunwing rep on day one was late for the 2pm chat...and over the top full of his self.....overall the trip was Fun!! The shoreline is the reason to keep coming back to Cuba. We experienced local food and company with some really nice people. It was fun.

We stayed in the Colonial section for 3 nights . Room was clean , a/c worked well , hot water in the shower . Front staff friendly , great gift shop with snacks smokes and beer available from 09-21 daily . Beach amazing with lots of chairs and shade , buffet was standard - food ok - didn't starve . Drinks at the bar needed some more variety and there was no blender or slush machine . Great short stay for us - location and beach won't disappoint !

This is my 4th time to this resort and I will not go any other place in Vaeradaro . the service is great location you cant beat and it keeps getting better. you always see the manager around making sure that things run well

We have been assigned to a room located across the Avenue 1st. As we didn't expect this remote location, had to walk to the travel agency to be relocated to a new hotel. Then, be careful when doing your reservation that the room would be located in the main building near the ocean. The staff at main desk won't give the full information. We had lunch and it was okay. About the rooms located at Las Palmas, those are small, with small toilet, old TV and a simple shower, no elevator and the window has a poor view to a park.

Bathrooms a little sub-par compared to first world, but other than that everything was as you'd expect from a 5 star resort! Pool was closed at 6PM every night which was kind of a bummer but the resort has a fantastic private beach which is available 24/7.

The hotel is small which I liked because you are anywhere you want to be in steps. No swim up bar but there is a bar just outside of the pool. No disco but way better since a lot of nightlife is literally just outside the resort. The service was friendly and the food was actually good! Best beach I have probably ever been too.

This was my first all-inclusive resort vacation in many years and it didn't disappoint - great value for money. It's a smaller resort - one pool and just a couple of restaurants, but that was perfect for us. I was there as part of a larger group so the small size made finding others really easy. The waitstaff and maids were all incredibly friendly. The food was what we jokingly referred to as 'Cuba-good' - it will not be what you are used to at home and nor should it be. If you're open minded about the fact that Cubans import a lot of the food we're used to and try some of the local dishes you won't go hungry as there's lots of choice. They do bread especially well, and the grilled shrimp were delicious! When we arrived our room faced the street, and as some of the other reviews have said the bars are incredibly loud. Earplugs helped significantly, but we were lucky enough to be moved when we asked politely (they had some extra rooms that week). Our second room faced the garden and was much quieter. Despite the noise of the bar across the street, the location of the resort so close to town was great - the Beatles Bar down the street was great fun, and the Havana club was a hoot. There are lots of classic car taxis roaming around so we took one down to the market one afternoon - great fun. If I have one complaint about the trip it has nothing to do with the resort, but rather the Sunwing rep. he was only there one hour a day (if that) and was really um, intense (not in a good way). We did the bus tour of Havana (booked through the Sunwing Rep) and I wouldn't recommend it. The tour guide wasn't great and while we did see some of the 'major' spots I don't think it was worth the money at all. Some others in our group organized a private tour of Havana (not trough Sunwing) and raved about it, so I'd do that next time instead.

The hotel was great value for your money. It is a little older and run down in places, but the staff were excellent, the food pretty decent, and the beach was amazing! Even the pool was great on non-beach days. The hotel is well situated in downtown Varadero in case you want to eat out, do some shopping, or rock out at the Beatles Bar (a MUST do). Internet access was a bit iffy sometimes, but hey- I was there for sun, not facebook! We originally had room 1215, which faced the street, and it was SO loud at night, even with earplugs in. We ended up switching to room 1228, which was much quieter!

This was my first trip to Cuba and we stayed on the main strip of Varadaro. The resort was small and we were a large group so it worked well for us. The beach was absolutely beautiful, the pool was a little small and there is no swim up bar. The food was pretty good (I had been warned not to expect much), the bread was fresh made and the ice cream was amazing, I basically ate that at every meal. It looked as though they were doing renovations as it is an older resort that is showing it's age, but for the price and location and the beach, it was definitely worth it.

The outside of the hotel is beautiful. The beach is stunning and lots of available lawn chairs. The service staff (except for one older crabby bartender near the pool) were awesome. The hotel is in an awesome location for nightlife and walking. The hotel rooms are extremely run down. My shower and SINK fell down during the stay. When we told the management about the problem we received no apology and one female staff member told us that 'when you break something you should have to pay for it.' The sink literally broke while I was washing my hands. Haha. Terrible customer service from the upper management. Very poor internet connection as well.

This Cuban trip was our first time with my Fiancé and we're very satisfied. The staffs, the service, the food, the management, the bar so everything was perfect. The beach and pool was amazing and who never been at Carabbian island before pls do not force the tanning on sun the first day if you're not used to it, stay on the shade even if you use the best oil or sun cream.We spent 7days at this hotel and I never complained. Several individuals are do not like the dishes, may because the spices are different but we loved that as well. Every day was fresh and variable food and salad at the Buffet. We also tried the A la carte ones have two option Cuban or Italian. They soup is hole different as ours but eatable. If Someone want more high quality service or fancy place this place is not yours.The Rooms have always clean and our room has air conditioners. Only thing we had disappointed the Travel agent who did not ask about the booking of seat on Sunwing Airline.We had to sat far each other twice ,not together.I thought it's obvious ... In conclusion, we had an Amazing Trip at This lovely place and I highly recommend everyone. And one more thing do not forget give tips to the Staffs!

My husband and I recently stayed at the resort and enjoyed every day of it. The service and the the people are amazing! We highly recommend this resort for anyone, old and young. We will definitely be coming back here again!

Where to start? Beautiful hotel, friendly staff throughout.. the beach was perfect with lots of lounge chairs and soft sand! Pool was enjoyable as well. Made use of the various bars and the food was great, something for everyone. The location is perfect to walk Varedero, and two awesome bars steps away from the hotel. We loved the Beatles Bar!! Great band and dancing!! We will definitely be returning to this resort!!!!!!!

Loved the food! Wine was just ok! Cocktail Bar was GREAT! Great location! Rooms were fine. Pool small. Beach great. Sand fleas were an issue for some. Terrible Wifi! Would I go back again - YES!
