The resort was fantastic, the food was excellent and no shortages of any food at all. Staff was fantastic and very welcoming. I would absolutely return tomorrow if I could but I will be going back.

This is my second time in a year. Very friendly staff in every service they submit. I am grateful for a friend of mine who suggested to try it and I did and now I am not thinking to go somewhere else.

It was much better than I expected. The beach is amazing and the proximity to the shops and the beatles bar is a great plus. The food was good and the drinks were decent. The rooms were kept clean and the air-conditioning was working just enough to keep the room cool. It was overall a good choice. I would go back.

The resort is small and easy to get around. The entertainment staff are very engaged and a lot of fun. The food was good by Cuba standards. Beach is beautiful. There are some great staff members as well.

When we booked this originally. It was based on old pictures. They have recently updated the resort. We weren't sure what to expect when getting there. This resort was absolutely incredible. Beautiful updated rooms. Beach was one of a kind. There was quite a bit of selection for the buffet food. Also the 24 hour snack bar was on point. I don't think there was anything negative about this resort. Side note. 90% of the resort was French Canadian. Not that anything is wrong with that, just as a couple that only speaks English it was limited in finding good conversations. Maybe just coincidence. Service was amazing as usual for Cuba.

The resort is beautiful, and staff work so hard to keep it immaculate and well manicured. The beach is also gorgeous. I cant say enough about how friendly the staff are and how hard they work. However there are definite short comings to this resort and the biggest is the food. The food is bland, and buffets are beyond repetitive. My initial thought was "they" simply did not have access to certain food & beverage items, that was until I saw them at other resorts and heard about very good food at other Melia Resorts in Varadero while on a catamaran trip with folks staying at other Melia Resorts. We went 9 days with out any cola of any kind at our resort, so we were forced to buy some at the resort next door for a simple Rum & Coke. The liquor & beer selection was also extremely limited. Food was always cold with the exception of eggs made to order for breakfast. The 24 hour snack bar was no better with the exception of hamburger. Our West Jet representative Yoan did locate some coke and hand delivered it to us. Throughout the 2 weeks I was there I often saw Sr. Staff sitting with returning guests (identified by their arm band) and the Hotel Manager appeared to be there 24/7. That said I never observed the Hotel Manager speak to a guest. That said this was my 3rd trip to Cuba and went in knowing full well that food in Cuba is never great, and perhaps if I had only been there for one week it wouldn't have been so taxing. I recommend Waco's in town, we had a beautiful lobster dinner for around $25.00 USD.

The resort overall is small and it’s easy to get around. Rooms are clean and resort is well kept. Staff is friendly and the beach is stunning. Food isn’t great but expected from a resort in Cuba. Overall, a nice hotel since they did renovations. The pool is right in the center of the resort with a swim up bar.

We have travelled to Cuba many times, probably 18 in total. It's been a number of years since we were in the Varadero area. The beach is AMAZING!!!! You can't go wrong when it comes to Varadero beaches. The hotel itself has done an outstanding job fixing up and renovating the grounds, they are extremely clean and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and always willing to assist. The one downfall in our opinion would be the food. Very hit or miss and not very much selection at all. The drinks were wonderful and had plenty to choose from.

Sol all inclusive Well all we can say about this resort ,it's not up to its standards First A/C.... was kept at 24, we called it in no one came, the front desk said they went, so we left it .2nd the first day we checked in , got to the room the whole room stunk, the pillows , sheets , curtains .etc etc we told our guide about it , he went to tell the front desk , not sure if they did anything....entertainment was held late after9pm. No entertainment during the day , like other resorts we have been, sat we get there 1 other restaurant was open till maybe tuesday/Wednesday the other days just the same menu buffet. They should put caution signs everywhere that's wet floors ...other then this which I need more space ...ITS OKAY RESORT

The rooms were clean and modern with AC! I did think the buffet was better then any a la carte, the food was not the best. Beach view is beautiful! Not a party resort but great for relaxing and enjoying a drink! Not a lot of young age group population (19-25) still had a great time though.

Comfortable hotel, everything is clean and tidy. The reception helped whis all questions I had. The ocean is beyond praise, clean and warm water of 25 degrees. The food in the restaurant is delicious, but every day is the same. In general, satisfied.

The rooms were very nice The beach was fantastic snd the pool was beautiful. The food was good for Cuba and the service was excellent. Works definitely recommend this hotel. The location was great and can walk to Varadero on the beach.

Good: new, nice beach, shower in room. Lobby bar was great. Bad: Slow service, freezing cold pool, always out of toilet paper, not enough bar staff to keep up, fire alarms kept going off, no stocked fridge in room,

The hotel was great! Excellent service from all the staff, comfortable and modern looking rooms, beautiful and well kept beach made lounging around a daily habit and everything was so easily accessible.

The renovated resort is very clean and the rooms are lovely. We were upgraded to the Superior building, because we were return guests. Had an issue with a smell in the room the first two nights, and was told by reception that the hotel was full and to keep coming back to check in the afternoon. I went searching for the Tour operator rep to see if she could help, and ironically ran into the Customer Service Manager, and she was the absolute best, and had a new room for us that afternoon! The staff are extremely friendly, and work long hours, but still show up with a smile each and every day. The buffet was a little better than average for Cuba, but expect the normal issues of repetition, and running out of items. The ala cartes were good, our fav was the Italian. The beach is beautiful as always, with lots of palapas for shade, but no shade at the pool at all. The entertainment was excellent, each night performances in different areas of the resort, which we found refreshing over the typical shows experienced in all inclusive before. I would def recommend this resort. As long as you are aware of the common issues Cuba experiences with getting supplies, and controls by the government, which are usually beyond the control of resort management, you will not be disappointed.

It was very high end, nice and clean, service was excellent. Wasn’t a lot open at the time I went due to the season low time but enjoyed my stay very much. Would like to return but at a different time as I found it too hot for me.

April 1st 2019 trip I was initially excited to book at the Sol Sirenas Coral from seeing really nice pics of the hotel, grounds and rooms. Our flight was an early morning flight and we arrived at the hotel around 11:30am.From the moment we checked in I was disappointed and frustrated as we couldn't get settled into a room until 4:00pm. We had to hang out by the snack bar near the front lobby in our winter clothes and carry on bags. Our first food experience was at the snack bar where we waited for a room. Food there was not great, they served us a burger with french fries which were deep fried potato chips dripping in oil. Pretty grose! Close to the time to get our room, I had asked the front check-in lady to please try and give us either the first or second floor level as my partner can not go up stairs due to health issues. They immediately shut me down and said it has to be on the third floor. They do have elevators however they often stop working. The front desk personnel simply didn't have a care in the world of our situation. When we got to our room I was disappointed once again...the room was very old run down extremely old mattress, washroom doors didn't even close properly, all very dated. The only good thing from the room was the view from balcony overseeing the pool area and 3 hot showers with pressure for our 1 week stay. The pool area very nice from afar and probably the highlight of this hotel as it is surrounded by beautiful coconut and palm trees. Once walking through property you see that it was once a very nice hotel but unfortunately it is run down all over. One thing we couldn't understand was the food locations for the day. Breakfast was at the buffet by the lobby and lunch and dinner at beach bar/restaurant. I understand if lunch is there because it makes sense everyone is at the beach or pool but to walk back there for dinner close to the beach didn't makes sense. They should of made dinner at the buffet by the lobby.There is no point in dressing up for dinner as you will probably get dirty with sand again! Flip flops it is! And they can't use excuse of being understaffed as the staff for dinner was different then the one for breakfast and lunch. Everyday for a week it was the exact menu for all three meals, lunch and dinner chicken, pork, no fish, white rice, pasta, pasta, pasta and some veggies or salads same pastries and ice-cream fruits not too great. Breakfast eggs pancakes no fruits...No bananas!! On the upside beach was beautiful as always in Varadero and had great time spending the day there. I have been traveling to Cuba for the past 20 years and I love the Cuban people and history and I also speak the language so I get by easier, but on the last couple of trips but specially this one I found all staff from front desk personnel to waiters and housekeeping to be very nonchalant about everything and didn't seem they even wanted to be there working.... We took a tour to Habana and it was truly amazing experience, $100.00CAD p/person and 12Pesos p/person for a ride in a vintage 1950 to 1965 car, it's an hour car ride in Habana (part of the tour, they will mention it once your in the bus on the way there) I recommend it to anyone going to Varadero. And on your way to Habana make sure you stop at the Pina Colada Hut for the Best one in the world. It REALLY IS THE BEST!! Over all no high expectations for this hotel, I wish I had spend a couple hundred dollars more for us on a better hotel in Varadero. Safe travels!!

The grounds were beautiful. BBQ lunches and dinner the best and breakfast omelets tastety. Rooms very clean. Waitresses very friendly especially Elisa. The only complaint would be out of the 9 days we had a bottle of water only two times. We had to beg for water which was very upseting. Talked with Customer service twice and said problem would be solved. Well she went to the office and gave a bottle after I had to demand it. We had to demand water prior to talking to her. This should NOT happen. Talked with three other people at the resort and said they received water daily.

We stayed at this hotel for one week (first time in Cuba), and we found the resort lovely. It's right by the beach which was a bonus. It's beautiful and well maintained and also very safe. However, the service we received was terrible. We decided to eat at the snack bar most of the time because we didn't care for the buffet (no flavour, not appetizing), and we would have to wait approx. 20 mins just to get a hot dog. Half the time they didn't even have their full menu (hamburger, hot dog, ham & cheese or chicken sandwich). We tried tipping the staff to ensure we could get good service, but they didn't care. They couldn't care less about customer satisfaction nor did they care if you had to wait on them being lazy. Also, if you were to ask them to add an extra piece of cheese or ham on your sandwich (because it comes with only one piece of each) they would tell you no. I would rate this a 3 star experience just because of the location and maintenance of the resort.

Hotel run down and has bugs.legs totally bitten..the quiet swimming pool has no safe ladder to get out of pool..i fell off and cracked my shin bone and bruised my wrist...food was repetative..only one a la carte open each night, so it was a rush to get in line everyday...there was a large group there so 2 days at 930 the a la carte was already full..no one speaks good English..and so many rude russians...can't believe we ran into maybe 5 couples who spoke english..beach was nice but sand fleas..no one cleans beach and chairs on beach are old and ripped.we love cuba but would nrever go back to this resort...

Just returned after spending a relaxing week (January 17, 2019) at this resort. It was amazing stay. We went with family and friends. We enjoy a lot. We were very satisfied with the food at the buffet. It was good but repetitive day to day. Everything was close, the beach, the buffet, the lobby, the tea corner, in the lobby bar.The recreation team was very friendly and upbeat. We will never understand why someone would work reception when they cannot speak a word of English. The rooms are sub par at best. Clean is a word of many levels of description - definitely not up to par on our standards. Drinking water is another challenge. Only bottle water is preferred. Overall I will give 3.5 star out of 5.

Sol Sirenas Coral Resort all in all was okay. My boyfriend and my cousin and I wanted a last minute getaway with some sun so we decided Cuba. Our expectations for Cuba were low based on everything we heard. I had heard many times that the food in Cuba was not great and they were right. Everything was edible but by the end of our trip we were so tired of eating the same food. We went into town a few time to get a better experience and unless you wanted to pay a fortune you got food as good as the resort. Being a 3 star resort, the rooms were old and run down but they were clean. Hot water for showers everyday were extremely inconsistent. We got two hot showers of the 7 days we were there. Drinks were mediocre. The beach was beautiful. The pool area was nice and staff kept entertainment up during the day and had shows most nights. They have wifi to purchase in the lobby but it doesn’t load any websites. All in all I enjoyed my trip because I went in with low expectations and I was there to spend time with my loved ones and we made all experiences, even bad enjoyable. Probably the worst resort I’ve ever stayed at but I am accustomed to 4 to 5 star resorts in Mexico and Costa Rica. If the food was better we probably would been able to look past all the other things.

Friendly people, scenic place and lots to explore within. And ofcourse great food and drinks. Enjoyed every moment. Evening show was amazing. Kids loved the activities at day care. Wished we could spent some more days.

I visited this resort with a friend and we did not have high expectations, as it is a 3 star resort. We mainly went to relax by the beach and also drink / eat whatever that is not bad. In summary, I think the beach area is pretty good, the food is just ok due to the fact that they will have 2-3 items that I was able to eat everyday, which were actually not bad. The activities / entertainment was repetative and not comparable to other places I have been to in cuba (also 3-4 star). The customer service is horrible and the hotel facilities are also pretty bad. Beach: Beach Area is pretty good. It's white sand, great beach as you would expect with most resorts in Varadero. The only downside was the very old and recessed beach chairs which still did the job. 5/5 beach area. Food: It was almost the same food everyday which was surprising to me as I had read otherwise from the reviews. Omelletes were made during breakfast however they didn't have a lot of toppings to choose from most of the time. For lunch it was the same story however I didn't mind cause I didn't have high expectations, and also there was always the same 3 food that I actually liked and ate through out the trip. Dinner was similar to the lunch. Snack bar: The 24 hour snack bar only has ham and cheese sandwiches, a chicken salad sandwich with a 10:1 ratio of mayonaise to chicken, and hashbrowns (which they consider as the fritas / fries). They usually have your typical drinks available. Room / Facilities: I'm not one to care much about the resort rooms as I use them very little in my vacations, however, bathroom / shower was horrible in the rooms. The shower head had so much calcium build up that they had to send a mechanic to try to clean it up for half an hour. The lights weren't working. All equipment were actually old equipment from Melia Resort (shower curtains, dryer, etc.). The bathroom was very dirty. Activities / entertainment: Same activities everyday: stretching and aerobics for 30 minutes by the beach, and a volleyball tournament hosted by the entertainers. It is interesting to note that when the guests wanted to continue playing volleyball, the entertainers sometimes had to take the ball away for other reasons lol. Also at night, there were entertainment shows which included dancing and singing by the same people. The show was pretty good but surprisingly, there was no engagement or interactions with guests unlike very other resort I have been to down south. The entertainers mostly didn't even speak proper English which may explain this. Customer Service: Again, I'm a young guy with almost zero expectations in terms of going above and beyond for guests, however, this resort truly has unbelievable customers service. (Please note that there were nice and helpful staff, but the management and typically the majority of staff were horrible should you face any issues whatsoever). Here are a couple of examples: A guy at the front desk, "Ernesto", continually mocked and wasted guest's time any chance he got. For example, if you had to ask for a replacement room card, he would take his time to get up, try every single card that was previously de-magnitized (almost 100 of them), and of course, he had to use a new card. He did this with every guest. I would call downstairs to go get the towel deposits, he would say come down. As soon as I'd get there, he would say come back in 1 hour. After 1 hour, he would smile and say ya I can't do it today come back tomorrow before 5.... this was the trend with Ernesto. On another note, I was made to pay 15.50 CUC for a lobster dinner at Christmas night. Next morning I found out that everyone actually got lobster for free. "Yoel", the manager in charge took approximately 1 hour of my time to come down, talk to the head chef, talk to reception, the lady in charge of reservations, etc. and agreed that I should not be paying. At the end when there was no further justification, he said sorry I have a lot of things to do I'm sorry about what happened. I said that I don't think it's ok and he smiled and walked away. I didn't follow up as I don't care for 20 dollars as much to allow it to ruin my vacation but horrible job by the Yoel, the manager there. One night, the electricity went out intermittently and the bar staff decided they'd close at 11:45 instead of 2AM. There is no TV or source of entertainment in the lobby except bar chairs. Overall, I wouldn't go back to the resort, but if it's the cheapest option and you're looking to just go and enjoy the beach with some accommodations on the side, then this may not be a bad option for you.

Very clean. Food well prepared. Beautiful beach. Hotel room nice . Full bathroom. Staff very pleasant. Nice Coffee bar. No single supplement. Nightly entertainment and entertainers very talented. Great sound system. Check with the West Jet representative for the 1 1/2 day trip to Trinidad, Cuinefuegous, Santa Clara and the 3 hour hike into the Mountain jungle. Well worth the $135.00 CUC.

this hotels is old and needs lots of maintenance.no hot water for 3 days.the shower head not working .the food is the same everyday.the beach is wonderful.the bar is amazing and the coffee is very tasty.

This hotel is great for low maintenance people. If you are someone that doesn't need a door, toilet seat or toilet paper to pee, bottles of water to drink or you can live without working power or water for periods at a time, then this resort is for you. Luckily if you get drunk enough the awful food and hotel conditions do not bug you as much. Except when you have to change your key card 23 times daily due to deactivation Two positives: its 5 minutes from downtown varadero and the bartenders are sweethearts . Overall I strongly suggest saving your money to go somewhere else. The roaches in the hallway are large.

Rooms are clean sraff is so friendly you cant beat the beach and ocean have a great swim up pool with stools older resort but clean wish it was a little xloser to town but you can hop on a bus for 5 cuc and its good all day you can hope on and off all day

I was for 10 days at Sol Sirenas. As usual I read before arrival good and bad reviews.. I asked a room close to everything and on ground floor as I move with walker. And I was given #1002 which was exactly that, so for the first time I did not have to move. I had good A/C which was on 2 volumes and was working OK. I had a brand new fridge - first time I saw in Cuba. I had many international channels on TV, movie, sport, news in all languages. Shower was perfect, not always hot water, but who needs it in 40C heat? Big comfortable, not new, but OK bed. Balcony looking towards the pools, far enough from the Entertainment in the evening to be disturbed. They repair one part of the resort, so there was occasional power and water supply cuts, but not for long and in several hours everything was back in business. But there was no any disturbing noises from it. Hurricanes are here every year and every hotel needs funding and money from the State to do EVERY year repairs and renovation and this is not an easy matter for the Cubans. Plenty of fresh food-3 types of fresh lean meat every day, several types of veggies-raw and cooked, cheeses, ice creams, lots of desserts. Clean rooms. Older furniture, true, but they make it up with good cleaning. And they are repairing and renovating the resort already. Best pools for disability people - no steps and ladders = just gradually going in the water - great! and in interesting shape so it gives privacy . FANTASTIC WHITE SAND LONG AND WIDE BEACH!! True - the beach chairs are very old and some need to be thrown out already, but there are plenty of palapas for the strong sun and also around the pool all chairs are new. Very well kept outdoor space. Nice shows every night and GREAT hard working staff everywhere - kind , knowledgeable, helpful and respectful. I was with a walker and alone, by myself and worried first when I saw everything everywhere was on terraces. But they do have ramps and if you do not want to go that much around to use them - the terraces are made one step level at a time so that it was easy even with the walker to move up or down one step to other level. I will go back when I got such great price for a single room as iI got this September. There were some days with more mosquitoes but with repellent it was OK. That was my 22nd time in Cuba, and first here and I have been all over Cuba and in Varadero 10 times and I always go there for the beach and the ocean and they are extremely beautiful here and easily accessible. This hotel for me is a great find.

I love Cuba - this was my 8th visit. I knew this hotel was rated 3.5 stars - but I still expected a bit more. The first clue something was wrong is that there were no representatives from Air Transat at all. We were given a phone number in case we had questions. There was no meeting with the rep, no talk about excursions - zero. I was afraid to even touch the lamp in our room as I thought it would fall apart. It was old, rusted and leaning towards one side. The room was clean - but everything was outdated and cracked or broken. The mini-fridge is never filled - ever. One whole side of the hotel is closed (the Sirenas side) - but the hotel nonetheless chooses to have their A la Carte meals on the closed side (it's a bit further away and kind of spooky). The beach is absolutely amazing with lots of shaded areas and just enough entertainment. We met a few Canadians but most tourists at this hotel during our stay were Russian. I found most of them rude and arrogant. We did meet a few extremely nice servers at the buffet - and they went through amazing lengths to make our meals fun - even reserving our table for us. A great big thank you to Yamilet and Yunisleidy for making us feel welcome. The Buffet setting was very upsetting - there is no clear line - people cut in from everywhere and the selection there is so minimal...I have never seen so little choice in any Hotel I have stayed at. I did get sick for a bit after eating at the Mexican a la carte (and so did other tourists) - this was also a first for me. Would I come back to the Sol? No - I would not. It needs renovations and upgrades, a better variety of food and better settings for the meals.

We are a family of 6. Two adults and four kids between the age of 12-17. Also had my parent inlaw with us. We stayed at Sol Sirenas Coral. In the Coral section. The staffs were friendsly and caring. The pools were clean and spacious. Our rooms were cleaned and we had all we needed. This resort gave us bottled water daily (no pop or beer) but it worked out. The buffet wasnt as great. Not much variety and the meat was more like a piece of gum (endless gewing) but the rest of the food was okay. Other than the fact that the resort ran out of serving plastic cups for a while we didnt lack much. Highly recommanded for families. Great service and activities. Snorkling id highly recommanded here. Great experience.

We recently got back from a 4 night stay here. Me and my husband had a great time , The staff were nice, the pool was great and the beach is stunning . We always found something we enjoyed in the buffet and the snack bar always had yummy fries and burgers, chicken sandwiches and hot dogs. It is definitely a very kid friendly resort. The Hotel is Clean however keep in mind it is older and could use a little paint job here and there but that did not set us back any.

The resort is starting to show it’s age but they are doing renovations. That being said the resort is clean and the staff is very friendly. The beaches are fantastic, lots of lounge chairs on the beach. We have been going to this resort for a number of years and love the people there, our only dislike is the that the food although good, it’s not hot, warm at best.

We recently returned from our trip to Veradero Cuba. After researching online we finally decided to stay at the Sol Sirenas Coral; such a disappointment! The Hotel is in dire need of maintenance and repair. Uneven and broken concrete everywhere. The grounds are lacking maintenance, the lobby and common areas are dirty and in disarray. Some staff were extremely friendly and helpful; others not so much. We stayed on the 5th floor, ocean view and overlooking the pool area. Wow, it was so noisy! The music starts at 10:00 in the morning and continues until late in the evening. There was no or very little lighting in the hallways, we would get off the elevator in the evening and walk in total darkness at least half way to our room; it seems that light bulbs must be in very short supply in Cuba. The lobby washrooms were either short of TP, towelling or both, waste baskets were always overflowing and when these are filled with soiled TP certainly not very sanitary. The food for the most part was acceptable, the buffet at the Sirenas was a bit more presentable than at the Coral, the room itself was a lot nicer than at the Coral. The ala carte restaurants were fine and the staff did their best to make dinner a pleasant and tasty experience. The beach itself was fine, chairs were primarily dirty, some broken and in need of repair, the beach area itself needed to be raked and cleaned. Everything about this property was sad, it has so much potential and probably was a wonderful property at some time. The Sol Sirenas being owned by the Melia Group of Hotels must be at the bottom of the heap we did notice a few other Melia Hotels in Veradero that certainly had no resemblance to this property. We stayed in Santa Maria in 2016 and had a totally different experience.

This hotel was ok...you get what you pay for....very close to beach, and one of the first few hotels you come across in Varadero, which means you can easily walk to town...Italian restaurant is the only one worth going to other than two buffet ones...but you have to line up at 8:30 am each day to reserve for the following day. Room was fine along with pools etc. Food at buffet was ok....they tend to run out of things of you arrive too late...get your coffee or tea from the coffee/tea nook outside the buffet area first...good variety shows at night to watch. Internet cards suck as govt blocks all .com sites so you can see facebook but not post etc....bring your own phone plan.....also, they rip you off on leaving when you try to exchange your cuban money back to Can$$ at airport....expect 1:1....Better off rather than exchanging all your Canadian money to cuban on arrival, just exchange what you need for the day and save whatever Canadian you need on return...best excursion is jeep safari...but if you have a chance go into town to Marlin diving and ask for a snorkeling trip to Caribbean side of Island...better coral structures, fish and you get to snorkel much longer!!! Also rent a moped at resort..cheap and fun! My only complaint...we had alot of Russian/European tourists at the resort and every second person smoked...everywhere!!! likely less of this if you stayed at a 5 star.

This was my first time staying at this particular resort although I have been to Varadero many times What I liked best was its proximity to the town of Varadero Just a twenty minute walk away also for the car enthusiast there was plenty of antique cars to admire without having to go to Havana The resort was spread out it didn't seem crowded and the food was the best I've tasted in Cuba

I went for my reading week with three of my friends. The service was excellent. The food wasn't great. We partied hard every night and only received a couple of respectful noise complaints. I defiantly would go again!

The beach is the best! You can walk for miles and the view was good. Resort was dated, rooms where clean. Staff was exceptionally nice and accommodating. Food was good with a reasonable selection.

Had a great time at Sol Sirenas Coral. We stayed for a week in mid-February and had a lovely time. We spent much of every day on the beach, with the white sand, beach bar and good waves. Clean rooms and common areas, good pool and pool bar. Often noisy at night, if your room overlooks the pool and grill area. Would go back!

While the staff was very friendly and helpful, the Serinas half of this hotel need a facelift. Our first room was very old and smelled strongly of mold. We asked to be moved. Our second room was old but did not have mold. The air conditioning did not work and the toilet seat had 2 large cracks that would bite your butt if you were not really careful. The only drawers in the room were 2 very small ones in the night stands and the closet contained only 6 hangers, so we lived out of our suitcase for the week. The beach is beautiful but go to the Coral section, because the Serinas section only has a dozen palapas, while the Coral has more than 3X that and we're adding more when we were there. Overall we had a good week with fine weather but the hotel needs an update.

Rooms were very run down and the spread and pillows are very stained. there is no disco and only 3 a la carte restaurants. The bathroom in the lobby’s were constantly out of both toilet paper and soap. The food is standard Cuban faire.the rooms overlooking the pools run the risk of being awake all night due to the partying. Beach is lovely! Missing a restaurant by the beach.

I seldom holiday in the winter and I would recommend this hotel. The grounds were kept with great care, the pools were amazing. The staff were very helpful and willing to assist or provide information wherever needed. The beds were very comfortable and I was very happy to find English speaking television stations. It was cooler when we were there so we did not use the pools but they were beautifully kept. The beach was beautiful and there were lots of umbrellas and lounge chairs to sit on. For my first winter vacation it was a beautiful place and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Cuban people are amazing!! Kind and patient and very willing to make our holiday a pleasure. The resort was very beautiful, clean and airy. The weather was cooler which meant the beach and pools were not so busy. Our room was clean and bright and I loved the towel and blanket sculptures that our maid left for us every morning. The food in the dinning room was excellent and the choices were endless. It suited my pallet. And I found a bar tender who made the most amazing pina colatas!!! In all we had a very nice relaxing holiday.

Sol Sernias Coral was a great resort. Clean staff very friendly and helpful The pool areas were awesome but it was more difficult to get a lounge near the pools Food was very good as in all resorts if they could keep it warmer st the buffet that would improve it Rooms very comfortable bathrooms were good lots of hot water

This was my very first all-inclusive hotel experience! I arrived after dark in the evening, so in the morning, I was amazed to see the well-integrated palm trees and lush vegetation extending all the way to the beach. My room itself (in the Sirenas complex) was functional and clean, but a little bit too rustic. I didn't mind because I have an adventurous spirit, but there were marker stains on the bed covers and one of the hinges fell out of my door at the end of my stay. In addition to the fact that exterior hallway lighting only went on at a certain time (much after dark), there were also some lightbulbs missing in the exterior hallway leading to the rooms where mine was located. I really liked the buffet and à la carte evening meal options on the resort. I also enjoyed the special Christmas Eve dinner and animal show for children (on Christmas Day). The dining room staff was excellent, especially Mana! ¡Muchas gracias! In conclusion, I strongly feel that an overall upgrading of the rooms would enhance the experience on this particular resort.

I was a little reluctant an this hotel being a 3 star. The hotel is old but clean ..The only trouble I had (Because I have a little trouble walking). Was the pools there was only one that had a hand rail to get in or out. The food was good ..And the staff were great.

When we arrived there was no one in the lobby, except three guys trying to help an impaired woman onto an elevator. Once the reception staff arrived the booking in process was quick and easy. There were no available directions to the room, so we wound up tipping when it wasnt necessary. The bell boy had many currencies in many denominations and was quite willing to give us change. In the room the bathroom door didn't open all the way, the closet bi-fold doors were missing half the hardware so the only safe thing to do was to leave them open. The patio door didn't close all the way and the curtain rod was bent. We went to the 24 hr snack bar, where there was an incredibly dirty deep fryer and pizza oven. The staff were nice and polite. In the morning we went to the buffet, the only coffee available was in a machine. Thank goodness for the omelet/egg stand. The breads were all reheated from frozen and all the other foods were just laying on tables open to the birds. Everywhere there was chipped paint and cracked and broken tiles. We had drinks at all the bars, but none of the slush machines actually made slush, it was just cold water. There was a strange odor emanating from the toilet in the room. There was a nice selection of market huts and the pool was clean, but only waist deep. On the second day we upgraded to another resort.

Old and run down. Grounds are tidy but walk careful the grounds are uneven. Rooms in main hotel are completely run down but clean. Building 4 rooms in the 4200 are updated and nice. Pool and swim up bar were good. Buffet was not very good but always found something to eat. Al la carts good and could book one everyday for the next day. Snack bar basic and not open 24hrs. Beach bar good but no bathrooms near beach so you have to go back to pool area. Every Friday there was a barbeque by the pool, food was really good, we had a pig roast. Super fun lobby bar at night and service was excellant. Staff really do try to accomadate. Not very many beach umbrellas so get up early to get shade. Elevators don't work so expect to walk the stairs or get a lower room! I won't go back but I did have a good time at this resort. Will try a different one next time!

At first when we got there it was about 10:30 in the morning we waited until 4 pm for a room my first reaction was what did we get our self into, the room we got was horrible light swtich was not working and it was connected to other things that was not able to work. but the next day i went to the front to address the matter lets just say "if you don't speak up you won't get anywhere". In the end everything turned out fine and the rest of our stay was enjoyable, food was good, service was good, grounds wow and the plp very nice, very clean.

Ground and public areas are nice. The room is clean enough but the air conditioner was not working at all. they have to change the whole system if they really want give the guests the comfort. food and service is good. The staff should have at least bit knowledge english because mostly they speak Spanish.

The resort was ok. Lots of walking. Food wasn't that great. I have had better in cuba. Housekeeping in the room could be better. I found the last guy that staped in the same room id's in the night stand. I mailed them to him when I got back to Canada. There was dust on the shelves where I put black pants picked them up and they were white! I will not be returning to this resort. The staff was nice. The ocean was great.

Sol Sirenas Coral is the hotel I requested as I stayed there last fall and I had asked for the 1000 building when we arrived we were put in the 7000 building which I had seen last fall and did not like it it is about 2 blocks away I was told the main hotel the 1000 and 2000 buildings were closed down in March the only think at the main hotel open was the pool but no services also when I arrived I told the host on the bus this was not the right place so we check in and went to the bar for a drink and we were told only Rum drinks or beer were served here not being happy campers as I had showed my friend my pics from last trip of the hotel and talked him into booking well we each had our own room the next day we went to the Rep to tell him we were not happy as my request was the 1000 building well the he took me to the customer service office where the offered us a bottle of rum and special meals to try to get us to stay which I was not happy with so I asked to be moved to Villa Cuba where I had stayed befor in order to move we had to pay a extra $108.00 and also give up one room and share a room which we did and we enjoyed it the next day I was unpacking and remembered I left my money in the safe at the other hotel so I called and talked to a girl in customer service who said she would call the maintenance and have them go to open the safe and to call her back in 1 hour which I did and she said the maintenance guys were gone and to call back tomorrow the next day I called and she was off that day but another girl said she would call her to find out what was done and she would stop at Villa Cuba on her way home and leave a message for me at the front desk which never happened so at this point I knew it was gone so the day before check out I saw your Rep and told him so he called and found out new guest had check into the room and the safe was open on their arrival I just hope a poor Cuban is enjoying my $800.00

Our 14 day stay on the Sol Sirenias side was wonderful and it was made to be wonderful, because of the staff that work endlessly to make our stay and everyones stay happy. Our room was clean and had a new king-size bed. The bathroom was also clean and had a big tub and shower there was hot water and NO MOLD ANYWHERE! The beach was the most beautiful ever and it was kept clean. The water was warm and turquoise. The pools were clean, the staff friendly and the rum snd beer were plenty. The resort is going through renovations in stages our room had been recently painted. There are palm trees as far as you can see, the grounds and gardens are well maintained. The walking paths are well lit and flat, good for walking and those who have a stroller. The buffet has lots to choose from, plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables lots for seafood lovers, French fries, pasta, BBQ and grilled meats and fish. It's Cuba, there is plenty of food it's just not always to our Canadian taste. Take a trip to the Plaza America and go try the brusshetta and pizza at PIZZA PIZZA, it will bring your taste buds home. There are nightly shows and The Habana Café disco to enjoy right at the resort. We tried the Mexican restaurant and both enjoyed the food and the service. We met interesting and wonderful people from Canada and all the way around the world. The staff throughout the resort from the front desk, attendants, cleaning, maintenance, bar staff, servers and management made our stay wonderful. They deserve much respect Thank you everyone 😊 Looking forward to seeing you all again.

Sol Sirenas Coral is a resort needing a overhaul. The grounds are nice and inviting however the inside of the resort appears dated and uninspiring. I have been to this resort on several occasions in the past and have noticed that minimal upgrades or improvements have been made throughout the years. The bars frequently experienced shortages of beer and i would need to walk to the other bar to have a beer. The food is repetitive - chicken, pork or beef with rice, veggies. The line ups to have some chicken grilled were long. The desserts were good and plentiful. Most staff were welcoming however would appear to argue amongst themselves on several occasions. Unfortunately during my last stay, my neighbour played music well into the night, making it impossible to fall asleep. The mattresses seem to be original from the early 80's. I would definitely recommend bringing your own pillow. I have been to Cuba approximately 17 times so knew what to expect however, during the years, other resorts have made improvements both on the exterior and interior.

Good bang for the buck. The beach is beautiful and the resort is a bit old but clean. The food is not that good and the beds are horrible but can't complain about much else. More like 3.5 stars than 4

The best part of the resort was the beach. Rooms were very dated, beds extremely uncomfortable. Staff were friendly. I understand it is a foreign country, but very few staff could understand English. Do not order their special meals that cost extra - not worth it.

We have been going to this resort for a number of years and its sad to see it sliding down hill. The staff are amazing people and try their best to make your stay enjoyable. But it needs some attention. We love the area but will probably chose a different resort next year.

The hotel was below average and scketchy . The service there was very dissapointing , money was all that they seemed to care about, even when you would tip they would ignore you and we're very unpleasant . As for the food it wasn't the best as we excepted being in Cuba.

Its a good 3 1/2 stars hotel. Amazing Entertainment! Evenings show was beyond our expectation. The beach is just simply the best. This is why we coming back to Cuba. Food and service is average. Hotel needs renovation and updates of beds and bedding.

Won't go back to this resort...always out of toilet tissue...no diet cola for diebetics...they have a menu at the coffee bar, however don't have half of the flavours you ask for..I know the food in Cuba is different but the food at this hotel was worse than any we've had at other hotels ( this was our fourth time in Varadero)... we ate a lot in town...not much of any activities during the day...the room was clean and the maid was excellent..most of the bartenders were very pleasant....some of the wait staff need to smile more and be more attentive...the best part of our vacation was the weather..sunny every day...

Just returned from 7 days at the Sol Sirenas Coral, Varadero, Cuba. As it was our second time there we knew generally what to expect. We got more of the same as last trip 2 yrs ago and that was not a bad thing. I, of course, read many reviews on the resort before I decided to book again and, frankly, it got confusing because some said it was good , some said downright terrible! I can only speak of my experience and we had a good time. 3 young kids under the age of ten came with 5 adults and they are eager to go back. Let me break it down: THE FOOD- This one seems to bug a lot of people and seems to make or break their holiday...as if their sole reason for going away is to gorge on as much buffet food as they possibly can to the point that their trip is a week long gastronomic food coma interspersed with semi hypnotic periods of sleep and sitting on the beach. I found the food to be okay, at times a little disappointing (eg. the fish! and sometimes the fruit like papaya, guava, and pineapple). Breakfast was lots of baked goods, eggs made to order, ham, bacon, beans, and a bunch of stuff you would not associate with breakfast but were interesting nonetheless (eg. shrimp salad and baby clams). If your idea of breakfast is only IHOP, prepare yourself for variety. The snack bar was open when the buffet was not and they served burgers (made from ham incidentally but tasty), pizza, sandwiches and fires. Interestingly some things like fries and ketchup were not available half the week as, I suspect, the delivery of goods to the hotel only occurs once a week and by the end of the shipment (around Tuesday- Wednesday it seems) stuff was running low. Thursday and Friday, boom, huge variety was back on. For some reason I'd say the food on the Sirenas side was slightly better though they both served the same food on a given day. (we stayed on the Coral side). They had a meat and fish grilling station and these became our favourite places to eat. The a la carte restos were a hit and miss. The Italian resto was, okay, the Cuban resto was surprisingly good, and the 'romantica' resto (North American food) was disappointing. THE SERVICE: This set the resort a couple of notches higher as the people are very warm and accommodating, most were smiling and were willing to make special accommodations with little fuss. Note: I did not tip them every time (scarcely 50% of the time) and did not tip lavishly. What I did do was use a high degree of respect and friendliness and did not act as if it was my God- given right to be waited on on the spur of the moment. (What wonders this works). Our chambermaid was very thorough and eager to please. Front desk was very helpful each time. THE RESORT AND ROOMS: Yes this is an older hotel and as such things will not be pristine. Our toilet flusher was finicky at times but always worked. Our beds were clean (though the cots they put in for extra guests was literally almost as hard as Styrofoam) and staff were constantly cleaning, painting and fixing during the week we were there. They obviously try to keep the old building up to date and do a good job of it. The lobby is very nice and a good bar area is on the Coral side as well as Sirenas side. Both pools were great and in great condition. THE BEACH: Let's face it, this is why you go to Cuba (or at least it should be) as the sand and the water were fantastic. The water was shallow enough a good way out that my 10 year old nieces could go in it and not feel too threatened. On windy days, however, the waves did get high (I saw 2 days like this) where you would want to stay closer to shore. The beach areas had a bar but most people seemed content to just lie semi conscious on the lounge chairs and soak up the rays. I would recommend this resort to families and couples alike and would probably go back if I decide to go back to Cuba. No I did not have to bring my own toilet paper, no I did not get sick from the food, and yes the drinks are watered down like in every all-inclusive I've ever been to, but I worked it out that after the cost of the flight, the resort hosts you for about $350 for a week... you cannot complain about minor inconveniences at that price. Cheers!

The hotel grounds are nice but the hotel rooms are out dated and need a major face lift. The public washrooms are unsanitary, no toilet seats in the ladies washrooms and no toilet paper to be found anywhere. The fridge in the rooms are empty of refreshments . On the positive side the beach is very nice. One day the main pool was closed to the public the maintenance man was painting the border around the pool.

This hotel was nothing like the pictures...it was under construction and the staff were not personable at all. The food was what is expected in Cuba. They ran out of a lot of food and drinks. The grounds and the pool were dirty. The beach was amazing, that's about it.

Nothing about this resort impressed me.After staying at resorts in Mexico, Dominican republic, and the Bahamas,this one was the worst.Tropical drinks here are made from kool aid mix! I dont know how many times I ordered simple drinks like a banana daquiri only to recieve something completely different like a rum punch.Any other resort I had drinks at were excellent because when you ordered a banana daquiri they would put real fruit in the blender to make it,not here! They dont even have the proper things to make one.Dont let the pictures fool you,this resort is ghetto,things falling apart everywhere and the service is mediocre at best.Our washroom didnt even have a toilet paper holder? I could go on and on about this place, do yourself a big favour dont waste your money here,you will be dissappointed.

Here goes: 1. Resort itself grounds were ok 3/5 --- pool was cold, many times dirty, unkept. The rectangle pool... Do not go in!!! People that swam in it developed serious rashes and hives!! (We stayed away) 2. General staff in lobby 3/5 3. Room service 1/5 No room service for first 3 days after we asked 3 times for towels, linens / no hot water at certain times and when there was hot water didn't last long. The room itself was disgusting, mold on ceilings, batch shower and in bathroom ceiling. Awful smell, damp, moldy smell. The room was nothing like advertised (the pictures looked better than the real thing!!) 4. Food was ok 2/5 most of the food were cold dishes with some exceptions (dinner food better than lunch) --- we were suggested Proel as a la cart choice (being romantic)... Horrible! There was nothing romantic about it and the selection on menu was sparse ... Most of the food we ordered wasent available and we had to settle for whatever they did have, we literally got up and left ... The Italian a la cart was pretty good ... Last day into our vacation we discovered another buffet style eatery (they turn it into the Cuban a la cart at night) this place had bbq pork, chicken and beef (which the other buffets didn't have) it is also located literally a few steps from beach 4. The free drinks ... 2/5 most bartenders did not know what the drinks we asked for were!! I.E. We asked for Miami vice, drink we were given was green and disgusting!! Also every drink was watered down ... Even the fruit smoothies 5. Staff in general at the bars 2/5 they made you wait extensively, to the point we walked away often very frustrated and ended up at the 24 hour bar (which had little selection but less busy) 6. Tipping wasent too bad, generally we were not harassed for it but asked a few times 3/5 7. The beach 5/5 it's the ONLY thing we would rate 5 on the resort!!! No complaints there.... The beach was gorgeous! However the free salsa dance lessons I didn't see!!! In general we were very disappointed by many things about this resort, in particular: the room , room service and food/drinks. We both enjoyed the beach and often times we lounged around at the beach. The nightly shows didn't exist. There was only one show when we first arrived. There was a pool party but we missed it. There was very little night life/entertainment. There is a club at the sirenas side and we had to ask for directions because it's located in a hidden area. Nothing too special about it either. But definitely a bit more entertaining than the other on site activities. There are excursions you can take away from the resort, probably well worth it (since at the resort you'll probably be eating, sun bathing and swimming mostly oh and lounging around) we ended up at the market (the big market) great place for gifts. We took a bus $5 each for 12 hours. You can hop on and off and check out the town. Overall we only booked 4 days and we were happy it was only 4 days!!!! We would not recommend this resort, unless it was simply for the beautiful beach!!! Cayo Coco looks like will be our next destination. I hear Warwick is amazing!! (This is a new resort, well recently upgraded) If we had to sum up sol sirenas coral... Definitely not a 4 star resort!!!! You are better off to save the extra money and book a 5 star!!! Always go five stars!!! We learned our lesson!!!

Although staff is friendly, we will not return to Sol Sirenas Coral because the public washrooms are either totally unacceptable or non-existant. In the bathroom serving the lobby, the stall doors do not have locks or do not stay closed, all toilet paper dispensers are broken and allow toilet paper roll to fall onto the dirty floor, soap dispenser does not work and paper towel is replaced by toilet paper to dry our hands. There is no bathroom at the beach nor at the beach restaurant. I was told to stay away from the washrooms by the Coral pool because they were worse than the washrooms located in the lobby which is hard to believe. The only acceptable washroom is hidden behind the snack bar however the waste baskets are overflowing and smell. By Canadian standards, fully functional washrooms are not considered a luxury but a basic necessity!!!

Resort was clean there was a bit of disrepair. Over all a 3 out of 5. Food was bad not impressed with wait staff at all room was cleaned every day good service there location was good there was construction close by but not to noisy overall

We are not huge complainers, or picky travelers but this was by far the worst vacation we've undertaken. We just want a bed to pass out in a clean bed after fun days at the beach, by the pool or simply out and about. This was none of that, the maid changed out the bedding twice. After the second day, our only two long towels disappeared, so we had to use facecloths to dry ourselves. The pillow's undersides had some woman's makeup on them, and one of the larger pillows smelled so bad of urine we had to keep it in the other room. Speaking with other vacationers, it seems our tepid, *read cold, water was as good as it comes, with most people having a trickle coming from the shower head at best. Bar tenders, although very nice and friendly, are inattentive at best. I was warned about the food in Cuba. The food tasted good, but make sure you bring baby wipes and creams/ointments if you plan to eat any proteins on resort. The people we met made our trip, and none of the people we spoke to would recommend this hotel or stay there again.

Service was awesome! The hotel is what it is and had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. Tip: check out the bungalow upgrades! Ours was super close to the beach and central to everything on the resort.

The hotel was great. The problems we had were....... half of the snack bar staff were incredibly lazy, I took pictures of them sitting down on their phones and chatting away. They ran out of fries the first day and chicken the second.......and didn't have any for the remainder of our stay. They stop serving alcohol at 2am unless you tip them, and then they will serve you for as long as you want. The rest of the staff were great. I felt bad for the lady at reception when we checked in. She was alone and the line had about 20 people in it. The beach was stunning and we met some great people.

The resort was okay. They do not give Cuba a good name for the food selection. We went out for dinner and had amazing meals as the resorts was horrible. The kids club for 5+ has horrible hours and is not open when they say it is. The infant group is amazing if you get the staff Alicia. Other wise don't take your kids there if Alicia is not working. Alicia is such an amazing woman! Well educated very patient and amazing with children! The beds were hard. We did not get what we asked for but we're satisifed with the space of the room. The drinks you need to ask for the good rum other wise they give you the gross stuff :$ the frozen machines were never frozen. We did have hot water woot woot! The pools were really nice and clean. The entertainment at night was great! The staff were awesome! Was the tourist that were not so nice to them!

We chose this resort because it was the ONLY one in Varadero that offered inclusive child care for infants, as well as a Kids Club for older children. My daughter and I took her two children (age 10 months and age 6 years) on a family vacation just before Christmas. The all inclusive Baby Club and the Kids Club gave us a few precious hours of child-free time to relax, go for a swim in the ocean or do some shopping at the on-site markets! This was the BEST feature of the resort. The Baby Club is open from 9am to 4:30pm (closed for lunch) - so we could drop the baby off for a few hours at our convenience. It is a beautiful building with safe sponge floors and a variety of baby toys to entertain your infant. It has a separate quiet room with play pens for nap times. Alicia was the most amazing infant care provider! A truly beautiful Cuban woman, with genuine warmth, smiles, and laughter - she was a baby whisperer! She had the talent to provide the most sensitive and loving care to our baby Gabriela! She also provided support and essential guidance on ensuring our baby did not consume Cuban food, and we consulted her when our baby wasn't feeling well and she provided expert advice. The only drawback was that Alicia only worked every other day (1 day on and 1 day off). On the alternate days, a woman named Joanna was there - and she was not a good child care provider at all. She was tense and stressed and could not manage. Our baby did not like her and would cry constantly - so we did not use her. Other families had the same experience - they could leave their infant with Alicia and be totally confident in the high quality of care. When going to Joanna, their infants would become upset and refuse to go to her - so nobody liked or used Joanna. We (and the other families) only used Alicia on the days she was working. I advised the resort to replace Joanna with another Alicia! The resort also offers additional babysitting in your hotel room - yes, Alicia will come to your room to care for your children if you want to go out for a romantic dinner! Alicia made our stay at Sol Sirenas Coral the best experience - we couldn't have done it without her help, kindness and friendship. Our 6 year old also loved going to the Kids Club (a separate building). She would ask daily to go, as it gave her the opportunity to play with other children her age. They have a session from 10am to 12noon, then open again from 3 - 5pm daily. They had a giant bouncy castle the kids loved, or would have a spa day when the kids got their hair done and face painted (our girl was transformed into a unicorn). The only issue was lack of organization. We would often arrive at 10am or at 3pm and have to wait up to 15 minutes for someone to arrive. We had to adapt to Cuban time. Otherwise - it was a great resource! The staff at the Hotel were all amazingly friendly and helpful, and the service was great. Front desk was amazing, as well as customer service - whatever needed fixing was done immediately. The rooms are fine - clean and comfortable - excellent maid service, with our 6 year old's stuffed dog presented each day in a new design on our beds, surrounded by swans, etc. The beach is the best on the planet - it's Varadero! And the pools were excellent - shallow areas perfect for children. The location was very good - just north of the town of Varadero - so a short cab or bus ride into town. The food...well, it's Cuba. The buffet food gets tiresome, as with any 3 star resort in Cuba. Fortunately the bread is always good, you can get eggs and omelettes in the morning; live on pasta and rice in the afternoons, and there is always fruit.

this hotel offered a large playground kiddie clubs huge pool and the snack bar was awesome. the kids had a blast and I was able to relax. our rooms were always cleaned daily and our maid was super friendly. I would definitely recommend this resort.

This is my third time at this resort, the staff are great, the property is clean and well kept, but in the past you could at least count on a couple of days of good food. Unfortunately in my opinion they dropped the ball this time, don't get me wrong I dident starve . But that would be the only complaint for this trip.

At first we got checked in to the Sol Sirenas side not the Coral side. Those rooms were disgusting. The shower was mouldy and my bathroom roof was caving in. I had to push my door open as it was dragging on the floor. The picture in the frame on the wall was partly out of the frame and the matting was water stained and warped.The beds were all springs and so uncomfortable. The room smelled musty. On the 3rd day we got switched to the Coral side for the remainder of our 2 weeks. The staff on the Coral side was much friendlier although some of them were not at all. The reception staff was amazing as was the restaurant staff. The food was pretty boring and didn't really change ever. The a LA cartes were okay. We enjoyed the Italian and Asian ones the most. The pools were pretty dirty but we spent minimal time in them anyways. The sauna and hot tub were closed. They were cleaning the grounds up while we were there so they were decent. There was a compost pile coming up from the beach that really started smelling bad at the end. The beach was okay. A tractor came through and raked the sand but it didn't seem to pick any garbage up or anything so I'm not sure what the point was. There was a nice outdoor grill at lunch time down by the beach that another tourist happened to tell us about. That was awesome. Nothing was advertised or organized though so you just had to accidentally stumble across it or have someone tell you about it. The entertainment was cancelled for the most part however that may have been because of the 9 days of mourning of Castro's death. The first few days there was volleyball and stretching on the beach then that was it. The rooms were okay. They were clean enough but the beds were really hard. At least these showers were decent. It was really hard to find toilet paper or paper towel in the bathrooms outside of your room. This was really frustrating and unnecessary. That would be my biggest complaint. Even when the staff knew the washrooms were out of supplies they did nothing. One of our party had an issue with lights in their room and that problem was resolved within an hour and a half. Overall a bit dissapointing even for the lower price we had paid. I wouldn't go back or recommend it to anyone.

The hotel is not great. The staff are not helpful especially in customer service I found them to be extremely rude. If I had a dollar for every time I was told to go to the other side I could of stayed an extra week. Hotel is split up into 2 resorts and was repeatedly told to go to the other hotel. For everything. Bank was under construction so had to go to other side. Entire resort is so dark you cannot walk around safely after 6 pm Would definitely not go back

Hotel was comfortable, service second to none, beach was the best in the world, the pools are magnificent, wonderful bar pools. Great snorkeling. The Cuban people are friendly. Every day the chamber maids would not only do my bed, clean the room, ensure there was a fresh new supply of towels and bottled water but they would do magnificent elephants, birds, boats or other artistic designs with the towels. They truly treat you like Kings. All you have to do is enjoy life. I also made friends with other hotel guests from Italy, Russia, Germany, France and Spain. I highly recommend this Garden of Eden.

This was my 3rd trip to Cuba and Sol Sirenas Coral was the best. It is a older hotel like most in Cuba but the amenities are great. The room are very clean like the rest of the hotel.the staff are very friendly and honest. The pools are also clean and the swim up bar in the main pool is fun. The food is not bad but it's Cuba. No I know it says all inclusive but tipping is greatly appreciated also little gifts from the Dollar store like toothpaste deodorants and shavers are appreciated and makes your service even better and don't forget the housekeepers. The staff was amazing, very friendly and very sweet. The beach and the ocean were gorgeous. Otherwise, it was not a great experience. There is not a whole lot to do on the resort unless you are willing to spend a lot more money. The nightlife was a let down, the shows were not good. I know everyone says the food is bad, but I feel it's worth noting that it is almost inedible. I got very sick halfway through the trip which Im sure tainted my view of the stay but overall I was disappointed and would never return to the same place.

We got a great deal on a 4 nights stay at this hotel. The beach was really great! But the hotel is getting a bit old, and repairs are sloppy. Hence its probably a great place if you don't plan to relax in your room too much. The most annoying thing is that they only provide 1 bottle of water a day. Expensive alcohol like champagne and Havana club 7yr old were free but rare at the bar.

I had a great time.the serinas side was closed for renovations.but. the coral side was nice .very friendly staff..the food was great.my room was clean. Beach is nice.not crowded.but wish the had ashtrays on there tables.people put there cigarettes anywhere.. Staff were very helpful. Watch out for the sand fleas after it rains..

My husband and I along with my brother stayed here the week of Sept.21-28th. I first want to say that we travel a lot and have been to Cuba before and stayed in a 3 star which was a 5 star compared to this resort!! I'm not a fussy person and I knew the food would be not great having been to Cuba before. The omelettes in the morning at the buffet were great but that is about it. There was bacon one morning only in the 7 days we were there. The coffee was almost always cold at the buffet as was all the other food. There are only 2 a la cartes available while the other half of the resort is under renovation : Oriental and Cuban=both are very good. The room was fair and clean -beds were awful but thank goodness the pillow was good so it made it more bearable. Bring your adaptors to plug your electronics in as the room is 220 volt. Be sure you have toilet tissue on hand at all times because the ladies bathrooms were always out AND to make it worse there is only ONE bathroom in the lobby that actually locks-all the other doors you have to stick a piece of tissue paper to wedge in the door to keep it closed-(something I learned from watching others )hence why the shortage in toilet tissue!! I went to the "Customer Service" in the lobby on Saturday and spoke with a guy named Vlaliano (I don't know the exact spelling of his name) to let him know my concern re the doors not locking and how inconvenient it is to try and hold the door and pull your pants up at the same time and he said to me with a smirk on his face that someone else had also mentioned it and it would be fixed in the am. Tuesday came and still not fixed !! To make it even worse Tuesday evening while I was in the bathroom a female came in from Customer Service to use the bathroom herself and she IMMEDIATELY placed toilet tissue to wedge the door closed. I looked at her and said how terrible is this we have to do this and why aren't they fixing it. She said it was mentioned to "MANAGEMENT" but they can't get the parts anymore!! I said why can't they just put something else on then-she had no answer. Funny thing is I know Management reads these and usually comments but don't bother because nothing you say will make me believe you will fix this!! It's a terrible resort and the bad attitudes of the staff outweigh the good including Customer Service!! The website also states it has facilities with ramps and special access. I saw only two ramps-one in the lobby and one outside. There are lots of little steps and stairs all over the place which are not well lit up in the evenings which makes it very dangerous. We saw lots of people limping on the resort and I'm pretty certain it's from tripping on the steps and stairs! If you enjoy the shows in the evening DO NOT GO BY WHAT IS ON THE BULLETIN BOARD IT IS NOT WHAT YOU'LL SEE. Sunday was supposed to be a Magic Show it never happened...I guess it had it's own disappearing act!! There was no announcement from the Announcer on the stage just when the show was to start advising there would be no magic show either. We asked why the next day and were told that the shows go by "what kind of people show up" What the heck is that supposed to mean???......... if you don't have a upgraded room with a coffeemaker good luck trying to get a coffee before 10 am. The Tea and Coffee Corner is "supposed" to be serving coffee at 7am but the entire week we were there we could not get coffee until 10 am. The bar also is supposed to be open at 10 am but most days would not start serving until 10:30 am. The pools were great and clean. The weather was fantastic BUT there are lots of resorts in Cuba ...my honest opinion /suggestion is to find a different one. I would say this is a 2 star compared to other 3 stars in Cuba. I will not go back here and would not recommend this resort to anyone ......

THE CLEANERS AND HOTEL RESTAURANT STAFF WERE KIDN - HUMBLE AND FRIENDLY HOWEVER THE HOTEL MANAGEMENT WERE NOT GOOD AT ALL. VERY ABRUPT,. A GERMAN MAN FELL TO THE GROUND OFF 2ND FLOOR AN DHIS HEAD WAS SMASHED - HE WAS DRUNK AND THEY STILL CONTINUED TO GIVE HIM MORE ALCOHOL THEN HE WENT TO HIS ROOM AND APPARENTLY JUMPED THE BALCONY... THERE WAS BED BUGS IN THE BEDROOMS, THE ROOM THEY GAVE US WAS NOT WHAT WAS SOLD IN THE PICTURE. IT HAD BEEN PAINTED AND THE SMELL WAS SO BAD I THREW UP.. THE FOOD WAS BAD - NOT PRESENTED WELL, DIRTY KITCHEN., FOOD WAS COLD WE HA RUNNING TUMMIES AND THROWING UP ALL 7 DAYS.. MI TOOK &$1500 US DOLLARS AND UT IT IN TH SAFE AND CAME BACK TO ONLY 800 DOLLARS I WAS VERY UPSET,. BUT THEN CAN U BLAME THEM AS THEY GET $25 A MONTH.. I BROUGHT ONE SUITCASE FULL OF CLOTHES AND STUFF TO GIVE AWAY AND THEY WERE HAPPY BU I GUESS ITS BECAUSE THEY NEVER SAW SO MUCH MONEY AND TOOK IT..THE LIGHTS WERE OUT FOR ONE DAY, THE TOILETS WERE STINKING AND COULDNOT FLUSH, AND THE WATER WAS BAD.I HAD TO PAY US$103 TO BRING A FRIEND TO THE HOTEL AND THE GUARDS WERE PRETTY ROUGH..I WILL NTO BE RETURNING THERE AND AIR CANADA VACATIONS SHOULD NOT SELL ANY PACKAGES TO THIS HOTEL.. THE BUILDING IS OLD AND MOULDY AROUND IT. GRASS NOT CUT. SOMEONE POOPED IN THE POOL AND THEY LEFT IT THERE. THE FOOD IS COOKED IN DIRTY OIL. AND THE DRINKS ARE WATERED DOWN.

Food and hotel quality a 2.5 out of 5. Plus it was in the midst of renovation, not a pretty site. The beach was fabulous, fine sand and shallow shore. Hotel looked very old and in need of a big make over. Too many plastic glasses and other items thrown around..

My vacation was in early June. I had wonderful weather despite the forecasts saying it would rain with thundershowers all day everyday (it did rain, but for only 5 minutes and it averaged 33 C every day). My expectations weren't too high, as I was arriving to Cuba. I'm not very picky about rooms, service, or food, as long as it's safe and clean. The rooms were clean, nice, have fully functioning air conditioning, and a maid service everyday. The food was actually very good. They have a buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Stay clear of the foods that look sketchy, but a lot of it is edible (with certain stations where they cook the food right in front of you). They have 4 a la cart restaurants that are supposed to have the better quality food. When I went only 2 restaurants were open but they were both really good. And lastly about food, there is a 24hr snack bar with very good fast food type foods. Service was good. Everyone spoke at least a little bit of English in case you don't speak Spanish. They aren't rude at all. The only thing I really wanted from this hotel, was that they actually did include everything they said when I booked the trip. AND THEY DID!

My husband and I booked this hotel based on the pictures, and were pleasently suprised. The grounds are well maintained, you get the use of both pools, beautiful beaches. The rooms and food were adequate. Most of the food is reheated, but you can wait and get fresh grilled meats which were great. There is a beach bbq everyday where its all grilled fresh. I was suprised by the negative reveiws...but if you are really in it for the beach, pools and sun, you will not be disappointed!

I've been to Cuba 5 times, second time at Sol Sirenas, like I said you go to for the beach! Hotels are always run down, food is passable - actually this time the Al la Cartes were absolutely great! As for the hotel, towels were short, always had to ask for them. Enjoyed our room as we had water pressure and the air conditioning worked perfectly. Would I go back well I hear they are renovating but not sure yet.

late arrival..flight delayed 2.5 hrs..no staff.. waiting for us..45 mins waiting to find out we got dropped of at wrong resort. .another 2 hrs to got what I'm sure was the last room in the resort...noisey air conditioning. .had to have it fixed. .too exhausted next day to change rooms. hotel very tired..from ceiling tiles missing all together and railings broken on stairways...very dangerous. ..overall worst experience yet in cuba...cubana airlines was another 3hrs delayed on way home... in total lost over 12hrs in delays.

Hotel was clean but very old and in need or repairs. Food was also ok. Pool was warm and just perfect. I was there for the beach which was just awesome!!! Lots of chairs. Friendly staff. My only concern was the fact that the balcony doors do not lock. They said they have had no incidents and I also had no problem but they could even have a piece of wood to block the sliding door.

This was our 5th trip to Cuba, 1st to Varadero. The Resort is big, it appears to be 2 resorts under one name/management. There is the Coral side and the Sirenas side. The Sirenas side looks to be in slightly better shape, and we noticed guests tended to go to the buffet more so on that side. The pools and grounds looked fairly well kept, as was the beach. Our stay was the week after March break so they may have been in recovery mode, as the stage venue for evening animation/entertainment was closed for repair, and a few structures looked like they were undergoing so work. From what we could imagine and were told from return guests, the resort glory days were behind them. Either not enough budget or staff to keep up with everything. One wall in our room had water stains down the side of it, the paint on the bottom of all the doors was peeling, the hallway ceiling was missing sections that exposed rusted and leaking pipes. I feel bad that this review has a negative vibe so far, but the truth is we have been to better 4 star resorts in Cuba and had we paid regular price, we would have been disappointed. Most of the staff were great, that is one thing about all of Cuba, beautiful warm hearted people. The good will always outweigh the bad here, and will always keep us coming back. Things to note about Sol Sirenas Coral: WiFi cards 2 CUC each, good for one hour -long off when done or the remaining time will run out. Money exchange at hotel approx 10 cents higher on the dollar, always better to exchange at bank(s) or airport. The coffee bar produces some of the best tasting coffee, became part of daily ritual. Location is pretty much on the water, nice beach with a beach bar. The Varadero strip to walk is a good hour. Double decker day passes 5cuc per person. Reasonable cab rate varies from 5-10 CUC depending on whereabouts on the strip you are heading. If we returned to Varadero we would most likely look to try a different hotel.

I hesitated writing this review because I realize Cuba is a whole different world but having been to Cuba twice before I knew what to expect. Let me just say that this was definitely not what I expected. After arriving late at night (10:30 pm) we were taken to our resort - Sol Sirenas Coral in Varadero. When we attempted to get off the bus we were ushered back on and taken to the sister resort Sol Sirenas because the Coral was "full" even though we had booked at the Coral. When we arrived at the Sol Sirenas I was extremely disappointed and very frustrated. The resort itselt was very dark and dingy, the rooms were filthy, the ceiling was falling in and the room smelled very mouldy. Let me say that we were not the only ones taken to this resort - in total there were about a dozen of us. When we went back to the front desk to ask to be moved to the Coral they told us that it was not possible and it was all the same resort.....perhaps in name only but definitely not in quality. We went back and forth with the staff and at no time did they even attempt to help. As a matter of fact they were extremely rude to all of us. They kept saying it was not possible to move and theirs was the better resort. Again absolutely not true! Finally my travelling partner and I decided to walk to the Coral and speak to them directly. By this time it was 2 am and we were all tired and frustrated. The front desk at the Coral were very helpful and said they would definitely have a room for us the next day so we walked back to the Sol Sirenas and asked to be moved to another room for the night. After much banter back and forth they eventually moved us. However this room was no better than the last (filthy, pieces of the room falling in) but by this time is was almost 3 am and all we wanted to do was sleep. We did tell the other guests who were in the same predicament as us about being moved the next day and eventually everyone was moved over. However they had to do it themselves. The Sol Sirenas did absolutely nothing to help! The Sol Sirenas Coral was a much better resort at least from the lobby and pool perspective. The rooms were definitely better but again I didn't find them very clean and the bathroom constantly smelled of urine. And I was very disappointed with the lack of friendliness of the staff. With the exception of a few they didn't appear to care at all and there was no interaction between staff and guests. However the beach was superb and the pool was great as well. As stated I have been to Cuba twice before and knew what to expect and what not to expect. I am not a fussy person and realize "you get what you pay for" however I would at least like to have what I booked and paid for without having to haggle to get it. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I can honestly say that I would not recommend this resort to anyone. I struggled as to whether to rate it as fair or average and decided on average because in my mind it was average for a 3 star in Cuba. It was definitely not a 3 & 1/2 as advertised and the Sol Sirenas should be rated as a 1 & 1/2 star.

Unfortunately, this hotel was not what I expected it to be. The reception desk once again greeted us without a smile. as if I was disturbing them. Our room was more than adequate as far as a bed goes. Water pressure was good, but toilet would flush for minutes. Service was lousy, no one ever smiled. Towels were a commodity, they kept running out, and at one time my wife had to go ask the maids for 2 bath towels and they gave us used ones. Disgusting to say the least. Not one day where we had full service to our room. Breakfast and lunch were OK. Staff again never smiled. A La Carte restaurants were very good, food was more than what we expected. But again, staff had no smiles unless they see me with a tip. The beach can't be beat, but its a beach, sand and clear water, can't go wrong there. No activities till 3 days into our trip. Animators were absent. Shows were pretty boring. I will not recommend this hotel to any one I know.

The resort itself is falling apart, very little maintenance over the years it seems. It is a more rustic feel to say the least. However, the pools and bars were great, very close to the beach, and staff were friendly and professional. For the price, definetly worth the stay.

My boyfriend and I just got back from a week in Varadero. It was our first time to Cuba and we both agreed that we would go back in a heart beat!! I won't lie ... the place (sol sirenas coral) needs a little TLC. BUT, we knew before going that it wasn't a five star, and we were prepared to make the best out of a bad situation if necessary. We didn't have to... the service was good! the room was great, the beach was great, the pool was great... What more could you want ?! If you're looking for a luxurious spot where staff serves you hand over feet with the most amazing food and drinks, this is NOT the place for you.. But if you're looking for a comfortable, safe and welcoming spot to lay your head at night, and a clean bathroom you won't have any issues. My boyfriend and I have both stayed at five star resorts in other Countries but would gladly stay here again!
