The El Cid Castilla resort complex is an older complex but very well maintained and cleanliness is at the top of list from the rooms to the pools all areas of the complex are well cared for daily The food areas buffet ,lunch ,and Al Acarte restaurants receive the same close attention to detail The food is very good and the variety and theme nights make it a great dining experience to try various foods The staff are very friendly and helpful they work hard to make your visit a good experience We spent a week April 18-25 2026 and had great time at EL CID .We would not hesitate to book again it was a great vacation A shout out to the staff from the Concierge ,the bar staff , pool staff ,the morning breakfast staff who start your day out with a smile and little fun they are all fun hard working people that make it a great week vacation

The hotel was very nice.Lacking in nite. Entertainment.2 nites out of 14 had live music.Then karaoke. Very glad we bought elite gives u so much more to use.Especilly the adult quiet pool..Would never travel at Easter again.To many local with children come. To resorts.I think sunwing should be upfront about resort fees.Many people arrive not knowing about this.Also there should be a frig in all rms.Shouldnt have to pay for coffee in rm either.Yes I would go back but probably to one of sister resorts.like el cid moro.Had a great holiday all in all

The resort is awesome. It really has something for everyone. The pools are great and so are the staff at the pool bars. My only complaint would be that we were not allowed to have lunch on our last day. Because check out was at 11, they cut off our bracelets, which meant we could no longer have lunch at the resort even though we were getting picked up at 2:30 to get to the airport. When we arrived at the El Cid it was in the evening, so we only had 1 meal that day. We paid for 7 days all inclusive and this is the first time we have not had access to all amenities we paid for.

While traveling to the Resort a few passengers were drop off at there Hotel and 1st thought there in the middle of no where.But that changed.What an excellent location.Great walking to shops and restaurants full grocery store with wine shop across the road. You could not ask for anything more.I,m hoping for another Elite GREAT DEAL for Feb/27.

A Wonderful Stay at El Cid Resort in Mexico I recently had the pleasure of staying at El Cid Resort in Mexico, and I can honestly say it was a fantastic experience. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed with the level of care and attention to detail. Room Comfort: Space to Relax The room was spacious and clean—just what you need after a long day of exploring. It had plenty of room to relax, and I loved that it was always tidied up by the maid every day. Hot water and good water pressure in the shower made a big difference (seriously, no one likes a trickle of water when you’re trying to relax). I felt very comfortable during my stay—so much so, I’m pretty sure the bed tried to make me stay forever. Dining: Something for Every Taste When it came to dining, El Cid really delivered. There’s a great selection of restaurants, from Mexican to Japanese, Thai, Italian, and Argentinean, with a buffet that had something for everyone. Whether you’re in the mood for tacos or pasta, you’ll find plenty to enjoy. I ended up trying a little bit of everything—because why not? It's vacation, and I may have gotten a little carried away at the dessert table (no regrets). Location: Convenient and Central The resort’s location was perfect for getting around. It’s centrally located, so you’re right on the bus route, making it easy to explore nearby shopping areas and historic sites. If you like to get out and about while on vacation, this is a great spot to be. Staff: Friendly and Helpful One of the standout parts of the trip was the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed. Whether it was offering helpful advice or just making sure I was comfortable, the staff really made the experience feel special. I’m pretty sure they could read my mind when I was just this close to needing a glass of water. Now that’s service. Final Thoughts: Highly Recommended Overall, I had an excellent stay at El Cid Resort. The room was great, the food was fantastic, and the location was ideal for sightseeing and shopping. The staff’s attention to detail and kindness made the whole experience feel even more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation in Mexico.

Jan 17 2025 Very clean well maintained beachfront hotel. We were greeted with a pre tax of $15 us per day which was $4487.7 pesos for 14 day stay. Water bottles were for sale in rooms as well as coffee. Get over it. Coffee was available at 0630 from main buffet , bring your favourite coffee mug. Water refill stations everywhere and ice at bars or buffet. 4 of 5 alacarts open unlimited booking we went 10 of 14 days , best dining we’ve had in 20 trips. The pretax was to cover Pickleball Tennis and wifi. Best courts in area. We played at daybreak 0700 till club showed 0900 every day , then returned 1500 till security kicked us off 1730 all included . Were told the cost was $200 pesos per hour ea Beach can be walked for miles at low tide , Malcom walk is a mile south Lots of shops and restaurants Enjoyed the pool games and activities Did the math and this all inclusive was worth the $

I felt the hotel was money and tip oriented. They were always trying to sell you something and unless you paid their highest tier it was not convenient. The access to the a la carte restaurant were limited and to get one you needed to line up before 7 am. The buffets were just adequate but nothing special.

Older hotel. Room musty smelling. We did have ocean and pool view which was beautiful. Gets lively on the beach Saturday and Sundays. Pool entertainment staff were very nice and fun. Buffet was not great. A la carte we’re excellent. The Japanese restaurant forgot to bring my daughters main course she did have appetizers so it was not a huge deal. Bring your own drink cups and water bottles. They don’t clean the plastic cups very good at the bars as they reuse the cups. I Had a few drinks that I could not drink as the cup was dirty from previous person. They told us that we had to pay for water that was brought to our room but when we checked out they did not charge us. Main lobby bar staff were excellent. Bathrooms around hotel very always clean would of like to have seen more cleaning of tables and chairs.

Staff was very good. Rooms were clean but run down. Pool was cold and a little dirty but had lots of seating. Food was good except for the beach lunch bar was awful. Entertainment in lobby was fun but was never able to watch a show because it was at dinner time in the buffet.

There is an extordinare employee on this resort. Daniela. Without her, we would have moved. She was kind, thoughtful, action oriented, fluent English, and understood major follow up. Located in the Elite Club, we would not have stayed wihtout this incredible insightful smart lovely classy employee. Move her up. You will be well served.

Our trip didn’t start well. Soon after our takeoff from Mo treat, the captain announced that we would have to make a stop at Windsor for refueling. This should have been mentioned to the passengers BEFORE embarking. We were kept on the plane during this process. Towards the end of the flight, it was announced that the three Lavatories on the plane were blocked and we were advised not to use them, unless it’s an emergency. The crew stopped passing drinks and water.... Upon arrival at the Hotel El Cid, the bus left us at a lower level and we had to take the stairs or a ramp up one level with our luggage! We were given a dark, smelly room in a passage on the ground level. We were told that nothing was available and to come back in the morning. We did and we finally were pleased with our new room although it didn’t have a fridge. No snacks are available between the meals and the only choice of coffee at the hotel is the watered down American coffee. The only place to hang out in the evening seemed to be the lobby or the bar with VERY loud music and VERY limited seats....

The first room we got was horrible. It took a lot of pleading to change but they finally did. We were happy with the other room but none of them had fridges. There is a lot of construction in that area. If you want to go for a walk outside the hotel, its very dusty and noisy. The beach is ok and you can also go for long walks, however the waves are quite high and there is a lot of undertow. The grounds are kept well. The staff is very friendly. You will not be able to find cappuccino or espresso anywhere in that hotel. There were 6 or 7 options to chose from for reservations at restaurants but we were only able to signed up for 2 in 7 days. everything was booked.

Cleanest, friendliest, resort ever stayed in. When anything went wrong they fixed it. They cared. They began working early in the morning and never stopped, such hard working people with smiles on their faces.

Staff were all so lovely. Food was something to be desired, as were the standard rooms but weather, beach and old town Mazatlán made up for it all + if you are into design the 70s vibe is awesome. The best resto is definitely the Mexican one. Drinks could be boozier. Wish there wasn’t so much soliciting on the beach by vendors.

Check in was very disorganized and very loud. The resort was nice but our room sure could use a renovation. The elevators were really slow and small. The food was so so and the dining room was very big. A person had to check their coffee cups before using because they were not alway as clean as they should be. There was also two bottles of water in our room but you had to leave a donation if you were going to drink them. There was also a coffee maker in the room but you had to pay for the coffee. The service at the resort was not too bad. Housekeeping was good but they did forget to leave bath mats and face clothes. The beach was nice. The entertainment was very loud.

The rooms, the facility was fantastic. Food , drinks and staff went above what we expected. The only disappointment was their coupon book. What a farce. Spend $6,000.00 to save $1200.00. The location of the facility is excellent.

El cid castilla resort hotell is the best location in mazatlan and maxico because of loof chained four hotells are open lemited to use of golf marina and relexing. Foods are exellant and all employs are very kind. Very very satisfy me.

Great rooms, clean grounds, amazing staff! We loved that you could walk in town, right outside the hotel. Food was great, even the two teenagers ate! Will definitely go back! The service at the pool was quick and good!

Everything about the El Cid was remarkable. The rooms were well kept and the beds were very comfortable. The grounds and public areas were immaculate. The dining was incredible- every meal had so many delicious options.

nice place , no complaints , the area has plenty things to do . bars , restaurants , casino , golf , beaches , shopping , sight seeing . You can rent bicycles , mopeds . The area seem very safe , just everybody wants to sell time share , which gets a little annoying , and on the beach lots of people selling stuff .

This was a wonderful vacation spot and we loved the proximity to the city. The staff was friendly and the beach was beautiful. The breakfasts and lunches were great but the dinners were just average, especially if you are not a meat eater. Overall we had a lovely time on our first vacation with our 7 month old baby :)

The rooms were kept very clean.The staff were all very friendly and helpful.Breakfast was our favorite meal.The choices were from many American dishes such as omelettes,waffles,pancakes,eggs,crisp bacon,fruits,breads,cinnamon buns,etc.Lunch time had a variety of choices.We enjoyed the soups.The bar would serve you any drink you would like.Supper also had a variety of food.We're not much for the Mexican foods but we could always choose spaghetti,pork and even turkey.There were lots of yummy desserts and fruits at each meal.We didn't care too much for the a-la-cart restaurants.The evening shows were splendid with beautiful costumes.We liked to sit at the pool so we could participate in various activities.The sandy beach was fine with only a few people selling their wares.Because the temperatures were cooler and the floors were marble,we felt cold all the time.

We went down to get married at el cid Castillo, I can't express how perfect it was. For all ages and wonderful staff. I highly recommend this place for just a vacation or destination wedding. Beyond charming❤( they also went out of their way daily to accommodate my daughter's allergy)

The food was good , the grounds were clean, there were only 2 downfalls 1 our mattresses were hard when other rooms weren’t 2 there were a lot of pedlars on the beach but I guess that is to be expected All in all good trip probably 7/10

$210 CA. to connect three devices to the internet for a week! that is what we were met with when we checked in. This can be avoided if you accept free internet as a gift when you attend the Vacation Club Sales pitch on your first morning. This is not a high pressure sales routine though, so you need to decide what your time and internet is worth to you. The resort is situated primarily along the beach but a bridge across the road takes you to a quiet pool, tennis, a very good gym and a lane pool and two more restaurants. All are accessible to all inclusive patrons. The pools on the beach side have constant music and activity during the day. There are water slides, water falls, a jump into the water from fake rocks, a kiddie pool and a swim-up bar. The hotel hosts a Teen Club and a Kids Club. There is only one bar in the lobby of the hotel for evening drinks, no space outside along the water to enjoy a romantic drink for two while watching the ocean, unless you go the restaurant there and pay as it is not included in the all inclusive. There are bars, restaurants and discos close to the resort. The al a carte restaurants are very good and during our stay, last week in November, were very accessible. All that is required is a quick phone call from your room, no lining up each morning to obtain a ticket is required. The buffet offerings were average (or less) but we enjoyed the occasional al a carte breakfast. Over all the resort won us over during the week as we began to forget the exorbitant internet fee and enjoy the enhanced facilities on the quiet side. The staff were all excellent and very accommodating.

A very nice and welcoming hotel that is located in the Golden Zone Mazatlan. The El Cid Castilla front desk clerks were warm and very friendly. Our room was a great surprise! King size bed on the 12 floor with a spectacular view of the bay. Our maid was very good and greeted us with a smile every day. Food and the service was outstanding. The grounds were well kept and pools were our favorite. The beach was a challenge some days with riptide and jellyfish warnings keeping us from venturing too far in. Highly recommended the El Cid resorts to everyone on a budget. Great value and friendly staff makes for a fantastic stay!

To start with this is a. very busy resort. I was most impressed with the people, they were all so very friendly. A special shout out to the waiters around the pool area, Thomas,Luis, Martyn, they made us all feel very special. The food was OK but I was really tired of it after 9 days... Overall we had a great vacation and would go back but maybe try the Marina next time, it didnt seem to be as busy and was a very nice resort also.

We enjoyed most things about the resort. The beds were comfortable, the staff very accommodating, friendly and helpful, and the food was good with enough variety to keep us satisfied. The resort was also kept very clean. It took us a day to understand our parameters of what parts of the four hotels we were allowed to use. On the negative, there were four El CID hotels grouped together and it was frustrating To be told we could go somewhere, but then turned away when we got there. In the end though we were just as happy to stay at "our" pool and buffets. The price was right for the hotel for sure and we enjoyed our stay.

Not even the bee sting on the very last day could dampen our spirits! But let me get back to that… It was a really long winter in fact it was a considerably long 2016 without much reprieve or downtime so this was a welcome change of pace so long overdue! My daughter and I happened upon this resort, and that was the starting point to a most amazing adventure. Let's start with the hypnotic lull of the ocean that set the backdrop. The scenery? Oceanfront, need I say more? A lively tapestry of activities danced daily across the beach line. Crystalline pools, thatched roofs, and constant service with a smile! Let me start with Violette. Room 4082 was not just cleaned but artistically dressed by a special lady who made concerted effort to take our stay to the next level - it was incredibly nice to feel so spoiled with the fancy bed displays and bathroom swans… all the extras. Attention to detail is the thing - always has been. But more than that, it was her sweet and gracious energy. And Ivanx, our server in the lounge - the relaxing pool and ocean view lounge with the gigantic wide open windows - was fast, friendly and helpful. Always available to assist. Fun Juan who smiled broadly upon our arrivals, always with a welcoming air. When we said our farewells he welcomed us back soon...though doubtful about that tomorrow thing 😂 Johny, our tour guide - last but not least was a master at handling the details and follow thru. My daughter and I enjoyed his fun-filled nature, suggestions and guidance. The bee sting? It became tangled in my hair - much to the little guys distress, and ahem...mine. Tried to help him out but in his panic - and ultimately mine - (bees aren't keen on being touched) I was stung. Our fast to react pool server put priorities first and although orders were rapidly mounting for the adult beverages - he prepared the ice pack - my daughter ran for the balsamic in a flash of an eye (vinegar reduces inflammation and numbs the pain) and unbeknownst, our waiter who had disappeared - I assumed to serve thirsty patrons - reappeared instead, with the lifeguard who immediately removed the venom and stinger. I survived, with minimal discomfort in fact. When you think about every single one of your lifetime experiences…the maps, the compasses, locations, and settings... It's the people that we choose to join us on our journeys that really do make the difference. We made some five star choices this getaway❤

So glad we chose Mazatlan as well the El Cid Castilla. The resort was with in walking distance to stores, restaurants , and nightlife . We were all inclusive but being able to go off the resort and feel safe try some restaurants was a bonus . The resort was clean the rooms were nice , staff spoke very good english and were extremely helpful with reservation or just information. We took our own excursions , and toured the Marina , as well as downtown the cathedral market.Food was good variety, and the shows were on while the buffet dinner was taking place a nice touch. Argentina restaurant was really good . The only complaint and for me personally the beds were too hard and the flight times were awful. Sherrie

The Hotel was very clean, the pools were clean and amazing,3 pool areas. The beach was clean and nice white sand, the water was clean and warm and nice to play in. The staff was very polite and friendly. The a la carte restaurants were very good. Great location. Rooms were clean, showers were very powerful and nice. Overall a A++

Labelled as a 5-star resort, I can only conclude they come to this rating when compared to OTHER resorts in the area. When put up against high end resorts in other Mexican destinations, my opinion is that this resort is, at most, 3 to 4 stars. Regardless, The El Cid Castilla is a very comfortable stay, and the amenities are quality and the employees are top-notch! I was visiting on a standard all-inclusive package. This resort offers several levels of all-inclusive, some higher and some lower. My package was in the mid-range. Lots of restaurant options. I preferred the Mexican and Italian restaurants best. During the day, there are lots of beverage facilities. But by 6pm, the only bar left open is in the lobby. It's large and has a dance floor, lots of TVs and nightly music. I spent most days on the beach, under a palapa. The beach was combed nightly and the sand was clean. The downside of lounging on the beach is that I had to get up at 6am each morning to "reserve" a sunbed, using a t-shirt and a towel clip. If I didn't, then I would not find a seat anywhere outside until close to sundown. Even though there are signs everywhere stating that reserving seats is prohibited, everyone does it. The bar staff were very attentive to the beach crowd and readily available to keep the guests "watered". The guest room was standard, with popcorn walls and very solid mattresses. But the A/C worked REALLY well, as did the very spacious shower. Good water pressure and no lack of hot water, when needed. Housekeeping forgot hand towels and face cloths a couple of times (no big deal). The bottled water and coffee packets supplied in the room had to be paid for if used. I always brought up the complimentary bottled water from the bar each day. And coffee is available in the breakfast rooms, so I didn't need it in the room anyway. Room service was an extra charge as well. The concierge staff in the lobby were very friendly, assisting me in making dinner reservations and giving me tips for my week long visit. Francisco and Polina were especially helpful. They had answers for all my questions. I had issues with a taxi driver one night when I decided to go into town, so be absolutely sure what the price is before getting in - and if you think about making any changes to the originally planned route, be sure to check the price again first. Don't let the driver bully you. If you're at a restaurant or hotel, go get a manager to help. Everyone seems to know what the taxi drivers are about. The El Cid resort is close to outside restaurants, bars, and shops, if you feel like getting out. And the neighbourhood is very friendly and comfortable to walk around. I had an excellent time in Mazatlan and would love to come back again!

First trip to Mexico. El Cid Castilla was a perfect 10! Service was friendly and very accommodating, right from the front desk to maid service, to waiters and buss boys and pool side waiters. Rooms were spotless, spacious and very clean. Beds were comfortable and cozy with fresh linens and extra pillows. Food was amazing and so delicious. The nightly entertainment was colorful and well rehearsed. So loved my holiday and would recommend to everyone. Also 3rd time booking through trip central and have found Kevin Dupuis to be very professional in looking after us.

We were very happy with this resort. No complaints. Food was good. Rooms were good. Only complaint was that the balcony railings were very low. I would have been nervous to be there with little kids. Ask for a main floor room if u have small children.

The hotel was well positioned clean airy from the front desk to the rooms and everything in between. The pools were well equipped with plenty of towels and chairs. The bar service was excellent both at the pools and restaurants and bars.The A La Carte restaurants were very relaxing with excellent food and a very elegant feel to them. The two buffets had an excellent variety of foods.At check in the staff at the desk were courteous and knowledgeable with the Bell boys right there to serve you. The maid service was good there was no shortage of towels or hot water. The beds were clean and comfortable with the rooms spacious and comfortable.The location was excellent on the beach with bus service right out the front door to the downtown and central market .It was a short walk to the rest of the Zone whether you went north or south there was plenty of shopping bank machines and convenience stores all reasonably priced. The only two things that could have been better were the fact that men had to wear sleeved shirts at the indoor buffet. I understand this is a health rule but it should have been advertised better than a small sign at the entrance. On our third day the outdoor buffet which was the lunch buffet was closed for cleaning so we had to go from the pool to the inside buffet where the men were told they needed sleeves on their shirts which required them to go back up to their rooms to get a different shirt. The other was internet access. It was $10.00 US dollars for 24 hours access which I have no problem with. BUT unlike other places it is 24 CONTINUIOUS hours . Other places is 24 hours that you use over a period of time like 7 days.OVERALL I would rate it 10 of 10.

Love this resort, have gone a few times and you can rely on the fact that the food is great, the service is top notch, the entertainment rocks and the pool staff are friendly and inclusive. Location is safe, never felt uneasy walking the area. Had kids and seniors with us and both had a great time, good for all ages!

this hotel just keeps getting better and better. One feels like you are really wanted here service wise. The food is great the hotel is extra clean and it seems like renovations and maintenance are always ongoing to make sure everything is in good shape.

Just got back from a one week stay at the El Cid Castilla. Overall it was a very good vacation. The pools are great! There is one pool that is mostly for adults, and another with waterslides and cliff jumping which is better for kids. It was the usual all inclusive vacation where you had to reserve you pool chairs by 8:00 in the morning. This wasn't a problem for us as we were travelling with a toddler. We had great poolside services. In fact, except for one breakfast, our service was great the whole stay. The breakfast buffet satisfied us every morning with lots of fresh fruit and the beloved omelet bar. Lunch was also fairly good, but the dinner buffet was lacking. We talked to a few other people who said the same thing. But don't let that deter you, there are some great restaurants to take in in Mazatlan. I would recommend booking the ocean view rooms. We travelled with friends who were in a poolside room. The ocean view room was bigger, we had more closet space, more vanity space, a tub and a shower, a nice counter when you first walked in for ocean side toys, so you didn't have to bring sandy things into the room. Also very important were the height of the railings and the width of the space between them. If travelling with a toddler, make the upgrade to ocean view just for this reason. The railings in the hallways and balconies of the poolside rooms were very dangerous for small children

Nice resort and evening entertainment. Friendly staff and very accommodating. Noisy on the lower floors through the night. Sushi restaurant is horrible. Food quality and service.. General buffet food is just ok. Would not return to this resort but would return to the Riu Resort.

Mexicos's west coast has so much to offer. The El Cid resort complex had so much to offer and was exceptional value for the money. All staff in every area of the hotel were efficient and friendly. He food was of good quality and tremendous variety when you include the several choices for buffets and four a la carte restaurants. The beach was hard and flat when ride was out, ideal for walkers. Beach vendors, sales reps for timeshares were minor irritations, easily handled. The issue of towels on chairs at the beach and pool was very real, but just the way it was. We found something each day. The resort was vibrant and interesting, some may say noises and the location had lots to do and see for those interested. No more Gulf of Mexico for me I'll definitely return to the West Coast and Mazatlan!

We've been at the El Cid Resort before and so no great surprises. The overall of this resort is good. Had a few problems--- asked to have joining rooms or at least close to my daughters room. Yes they were in the same building but on two different levels. They weren't extremely far apart but the reason for asking to be near was that the grandchildren could go back and forth easily and we could see them without having to accompany them. So I was not impressed with the effort they gave us. The hotel was quite full but on the day we booked in ther were rooms that others got after us on the same level. A few doors apart would have been fine. One other thing was how people went out in the middle of the night and put towels on the chairs to reserve them and then didnt show up until noon to use them. The policy supposedly is half hour limit ............ but no enforcement whatsoever. They should mark the chairs and give them and hour then give them tickets or warnings like the two hour limits to free parking.!! Not sure I would go back to this hotel... The food , rooms and pool were good but....

Resort was very clean. Pools were great. Great beaches but a bit crowded for me. Very easy and economical for money exchange both pesos and US funds.Food was fresh but boring. ( I cooked for a living so tend to be picky, yet I ate all that was offered). Entertainment was good. My only true complaint was the location. I prefer a more secluded vacation, however, saying that, if you don't mind the city atmosphere then this location is fine. That was just personal taste.

The hotel was nice and clean. The location was great - Unfortunately, when I visited, the restaurants advertised as all inclusive were no longer all inclusive ...weird and frustrating. I won't be returning.

The hotel was lovely & the service was excellent. My only complaints were that you couldn't be on the beach without being harassed by venders & in the hotel loby we were bothered by time share people every day. Also we would have liked it better if there were more tourists at the hoteĺ & less Mexicans. We liked the Mexicans but didn't feel included as most of them were with family & friends & all speaking Spanish.

The place itself was beautiful. We made a few friends with some of the employees, but the people at the front desk left a lot to be desired. they always made you feel like you were interrupting their busy day. but all they were doing was standing around visiting with each other. And that's only if they were at the desk. Most times they were in the back visiting. Don't get me wrong, the people at the concierge desk were fabulous.
