The hotel is a bit dated but is apparently undergoing a substantial renovation this summer. The king bed was amazingly comfortable! The staff were always friendly and knowledgeable. The food in the buffet was well presented and had a good variety for all sorts of tastes and dietary needs. It was very difficult to get a lounge chair at the pool and the beach. They were always taken with a towel or something small early in the morning and that's the way they sat in some cases for hours and not being used. This was very inconvenient and inconsiderate of other guests wanting to enjoy a lounge chair. Electrical plugs are limited in the rooms and can be a bit inconvenient with all of today's gadgets. If you use medical devices such as a CPAP, bring an extension cord, about 8 feet long.

We just loved it! Everything about this place is great for a nice vacation. The beach, gardens, pool, food, room etc were all great! Staff were very nice and helpful, all service was great. The cherry on top were the birds and animals in the gardens, which we enjoyed a lot! Can’t wait to go back!

We stayed at the Quetzal for 10 days in early March. We were very pleasantly surprised at the beautiful grounds. It is literally a jungle with numerous waterfalls, an abundance of vegetation as well as different animals. The reception was very quick and we were given a nice room in an excellent location; building 26. The buildings and the grounds were kept in exceptional condition...very clean and well maintained. The only downside we found was the walkway through the jungle as it is uneven and sometimes difficult to walk on. But then there is the option of using the main road. The resort is a nice size, not too big so easy to get from one end to the other. The pools are beautiful and kept very clean; lots of loungers and palapas. The main pool is very close to the beach so it's nice to be able to see the ocean. The beach is huge...very wide with beautifl white sand and again lots of loungers and palapas. The water here is tourquoise blue and very clear. The food was excellent, very tasty with lots of variety. It was very convenient to have the option of a full lunch or quick burger/hot dog in the restaurant by the beach. We enjoyed participating in the aqua fit in the morning and the entertainment every night. All in all, this is a very nice, clean and well maintained resort and we would highly recommend it.

The hotel and grounds are lovely. Food excellent. Staff wonderful. Entertainment great! Saw a fire show on the beach and a Michael Jackson show which was outstanding. We had a "jungle" room and fed monkeys on our balcony which was 3rd floor and very private. Beach is beautiful and there was no sargassum. Pool is nice too. This resort shares beach and pool with the Tucan so there are tons of people. Had a very hard time getting a lounger on the beach which was very frustrating. The resort is a $10 cab ride from Fifth Ave for shopping and there is a little mall 5 minute walk from hotel. You have to fill glass water bottles in the room for water. Super eco friendly. Also they do not have any coffee mate in the rooms. Dont know why. Also, if you are a smoker its a nuisance because its banned in Mexico. They have 2 small areas set aside which were always packed but nothing near the beach. The advisory for Mexico says bring eco friendly sun screen but no one checks. Its like paste lol so didnt use it. We were sent a link to pay a new "Vista tax" but didnt pay it and wasnt asked for proof of pymnt. On the whole its a nice place if you dont mind ton of people. Myself I prefer smaller resort.The jungle rooms were the best for nature action. Monkeys swinging in trees and feeding them bananas, apples and pears was an experience of a lifetime. Enjoy!

The Iberostar Quetzal is a beautiful family resort. The food is amazing, lot of options from vegetarian to meat lover, from kids to adults. Any cocktail you ask for they make it. Beach is amazing, hug pools and jacuzzi. Parties at the beach were incredible. And the best was the staff. Staff was the one exceeded our expectations. There is Chef Alejandra who was table by table asking and taking suggestions from guests. She listen and offers diets accommodation. She gives the best welcome that makes you feel at home. We received a free pass for the three of us to Iberostar Cozumel, unfortunately, it was as great as Quetzal.

The staff were attentive to all of our requests from planning a birthday decoration for my wife to getting the perfect cigar recommendations from the cigar man. The food was amazing, I gained weight from our visit because I couldn’t stop at just one plate at each meal. The cleanliness of everything was spot on.

The hotel is well kept and expertly staffed. The rooms are immaculate and everything works. The beach is fantastic though the resort could do a much better job of clearing the sargasum like the other resorts seem to beat them at but not a deal breaker. The pool activities are well orchestrated and fun to participate in or watch. The jungle-walk as I called it is a path through the middle ground between the Quetzal and Tucan sides and id a fun experience, especially for kids. The howler monkies are a riot and the peacocks seem to own the place. It's all great! we would certainly return again.

We have just returned from a very nice week at the Iberostar. We are very happy with our vacation. Reception was very smooth and friendly. Check out as well. Rooms are exceptionally clean with comfortable beds and nice showers. Each room has a balcony. All rooms are non smoking including the balcony. Food at the buffet was above average and the a la carte’s were solid. The beach is busy but beautiful. Bar, snack shop and ice cream shop all located at beach Entertainment staff were busy all day with different activities. The nightly shows were exciting and seemed to be enjoyed be everyone. There is a small natural jungle section located in the centre of the property that features lots of wildlife and plant life. It was a nice easy walk thru. Located a short cab ride from the Center of Playa del Carmen, it was located in a gated area, that you could safely walk around outside of the resort. A very solid resort at a very comfortable price.

I stayed at the Iberostar Quetzal with my friend from Feb 3rd 2020 to Feb 10th 2020. It was our first time in Mexico. The resort itself was very clean, the workers do anamazing job keeping the landscaping very tidy no garbage anywhere. The resort is very ecofriendly and recycles! The rooms had everything needed in an all inclusive resort. We were in room 2843. The balcony looked out to the buffet restaurant and 2 bird cages where 1 of the peacocks would sleep on everynight. There was wild life everywhere. They would mind their own business. I love animals and loved seeing howler monkies, agoutis, coatis, tortoise, iguanas, squirrels, parrots, peacocks, phens, flamingoes and many other birds. There was a jungle you could walk through that was lit up at night and had many Mayan statues and waterfalls. It was the best part of the hotel. Inside our room it had a safe, fridge that they would stock with beer and pop. Kinda wish they would put some juice as I don't drink pop or beer but it wasn't a big deal. The cleaning lady made lovely towel creations everyday. She cleaned and made our beds everyday and gave us fresh towels. The food at the 3 buffets were pretty good. Cozumel, Tulum and Uxmal. Breakfast was always my fave meal! I was expecting more meat and fish/seafood options being an island and its what I am use to but it wasn't too bad. The guacamole was def the best. The chips tasted stale? My friend is a vegetarian and she found some of the foods not labelled properly. Some foods that were labelled cheese quesadia actually had ham in it. We tried 3 a la carte restaurants the Tex Mex (Mexican) the servers were very cautious of my friend being a vegetarian and kept letting us know if there was any meat inthe meals which was nice. The tacos and apps were ok nothing special. Not sure if its the corn used for the tacos that I am not use to but they tasted old to me. Not a fan. We tried the La Gondala (Italian) the apps were very good I ordered the fish pasta which was alright, pasta tasted very doughy. My friend ordered the tortellini in cheese sauce. The menu didn't specify if there was meat inthe tortellini and she didn't ask but there was meat in them so she mentioned it to the server and they brought her the cheese and spinach ravioli instead. She enjoyed them. The Steak house a la Carte was my favourite because I am a meat eater. The apps were good. The meal itself was the best! I ordered the sirloin steak, rare and it came with corn, potatoes and some broccoli. My friend got a vegetarian plate with some stir fried veggies, broccoli, potatoes and corn. She enjoyed her meal. There was soft serve ice cream at the Uxmal but at the outside area which was great but my fave was the vanilla ice cream inside the buffets or at the ice cream shop by the beach. The drinks were good not too strong but I found the bar tenders not as friendly from most places I've visited. They would serve spanish people first and I would try my best and order in spanish but I would be waiting a while for a drink. And I am not a person who tips bar tenders. The waiters around the pool and beach would order drinks for us but sometimes forget to bring them back or take a while and we would be gone before we would get them. I'd rather just get my own drink. The beach was awesome! White sand which the workers cleaned the seaweed every morning. There were not many locals who bothered us. If they did come to us we would just say no thank you and they would move along. The ocean was amazing, clean and not rough at all. Some waves but nothing crazy that you couldn't go in. The only thing I didn't like is we were only allowed to move our beach chairs to the sign which was far from the ocean. But I made sure I didn't leave valuables in my beach bag. The entertainment crew were very friendly. They had some very fun activities and funny shows at night. There were 2 guys who went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable, Chocolate and Flower. They are great entertainers! We walked to Playacar shopping centre which was a 10 min walk from the resort but it was very safe as it was all tourists and hotels inthe area. They had the best souvenirs and prices for them. We did all of our shopping there as the shops inthe hotel are expensive and double the price. If you can make it out to 5th ave. This is another tourist area which is safe. There are tons of shops and night life. Even went to Walmart. Alcohol at the bars were very cheap as well. In all we had a great time. Beach and the animals were the best part!

First of all, thanks to Linda for all she has done for us to make this trip a success. Everything at the Hotel is wonderful , the food is excellent so is the service, the grounds, the pool and the beach. We also enjoyed all the animals roaming free. We highly recommend this place. I must warn you about 5th Av. in Carmen, stay away from any Jewelry shops, those peoples are mainly CROOKS, besides that you can not walk 10 ft. without being harassed . After 20 min. we went back to the hotel

Hotel Iberostar Quetzal and hotel Tulum are separated by a jungle like setting, with paths winding thru rock, jungle and small waterfalls. Coati, iguanas everywhere, with howler monkeys passing over twice daily. (Or landing on your balcony!) The resort was immaculately kept everywhere, rooms were large with balconies and cleaning staff that were so friendly and accommodating! The beach was groomed daily, clearly making it the best for miles. There are 2 buffets (1 in Quetzal, 1 in Tulum, identical), featured food changed daily, simply amazing and never ran low even for late night dinners. I did not book an a la carte, the buffet had EVERYTHING! With 350 rooms this resort was the perfect size. In building 24 ground level, 1 min to pool, 2 min to beach, 1 min to nightly entertainment which were of high quality. My favorite still the quiet lounge at hotel entrance, the singing left me in awe. There is a quiet pool, the main wrap around pool with hourly entertainment at the far end, kids pool and the cold swim up pool. They even babysit/entertain your kids for a bit, unsure of details, just watched them having so much fun! If you are a smoker just tell them, you'll go to building where your neighbors won't hate you. Mostly it's the staff made my week the best ever, they were amazing. Hit Mexico over 30 times now, at least 20 were at resorts, never hit one a second time, until now, will definitely revisit Iberostar Queztal. Recommendations: Bring a few mx pesos or USD, (tips) don't use the ATM at front desk, you'll pay hard. Hit a bank ATM in Playa off 5th ave, (ATM on 5th ave more subject to breaches) go back, front desk great at breaking large bills to small for tips. Don't hit a bank use ATM. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this property. The property is meticulously kept. Staff are gracious and attentive. The food was fantastic and the beach and pool were both great. Only one sore spot was the noise from the pool area with music which is very loud on the beach and pool area and while some go to the resort for that purpose there were many who did not sign up for it. This was a small point however and would not prevent us from returning. As well the evening entertainment on smaller stages at both resort bars was a wonderful find. Extremely talented artist playing everything from Blues to Flamenco. Real gems which should be featured. As well the location was wonderful where you are surrounded by monkeys, Iguanas, turtles ,parrots ,peacocks and the list goes on. This was a great resort. We will return!

One bad meal broke the trip for me but my family did enjoy the resort since they did not eat the same food. This resort is in the PlayaCar complex and getting in from the airport took forever. I guess this is the price for security so plan ahead if you are arriving with kids. The 45 min ride took 1.5hours. The a la carte Mediterranean restaurant (black squid risotto with fried calamari) ruined 5 days of my trip which I spent running back and forth to the washroom. Let’s just say I am happy to be back home eating food I know I don’t need to examine before I eat it. The rest of my family did enjoy the entertainment team. The energy from this crew is top notch and the freshly made food on the beach is the safest bet. The sangria when they serve paella on the beach was a nice surprise. The entertainment team a lot of energy and offers lots of options if you want to get into the spirit of the resort. I should mention there is a lost and found which you should check as someone did take my slippers and I found the kids goggles at the lost and found. You need your passport to exchange from USD to peso and no one has small bills! Take lots of small bills so don’t have to scramble later. We had a ocean view room which was amazing. Especially if you are stuck in doors and you can relax(recover) while you order room service. Honestly I had a better experience at Melia resorts and upgrading to the level instead of paying the premium for a better room at Iberostar where you don’t get as much perks as Melia.

Great food, buffet food was best I have ever had and I have been to Mexico a dozen times. Italian restaurant was great, Mexican was good. Rooms were a good size, beds were not rock hard like they are at some resorts. Air conditioning not great, toilets don’t work great. Shower always had hot water, worked well. Staff are great. Thanks to Misael who checked us in and chef Alexis who was always coming to check on us during dinners. Tacos on beach were good. They do have a drink menu at adult pool bar, just ask for it. Pool was beautiful. Lots of seaweed on beach, but that is at every resort in the area. Always found a beach chair, as long as you are there by 10am. Overall a very good trip.

One of the best trip where kids and adults got a very good time.. The ocean is better comparative with other Playacar resorts where the ocean is calcified and rough and wearing shoes is mandatory. The resort personnel very nice and eager to help. I'm recommending this resort ..Enjoy!!

The resort was beautiful however, some rooms are not ideally located as we eventually had to upgrade in order to move to a more quiet location due to the Theater's loud shows until 11:00pm. We were located only steps away and it was very loud. We are accustomed to 'Adult Only' resorts and while we were expecting a few smaller children, we weren't prepared for what awaited us. Way too many children, even many newborns which surprised us. Having the entire kids club being brought to our location at the pool daily was a bit of a nuisance, but given the state of the beach with the Sargassum problem, I suppose they didn't have much choice. All in all, the resort was great and the location ideal for a stroll to Playa del Carmen's 5th Avenue which we enjoyed. Sadly, the beach was inundated with seaweed and generally not appealing for swimming but that didn't hinder the trip in any way except that it would have been nice to dip in along the way to Playa as it was a very hot walk. The animals were lovely and the service was the best among all the resorts I've been to... All in all, my partner and I agreed that had this resort been Adults Only, it would have been the "BOMB".

We spent 11 amazing days at Iberostar Quetzal in Playa del Carmen and it was absolutely fantastic! People did their best to accommodate us. Front desk team is very professional and did a wonderful job to make our stay memorable. Thumbs up to Francesco for being so efficient! The waiters were all so courteous and polite. We never had to fetch for our drinks, restaurant / beach / pool.... We are foodies and enjoy good food and were very pleased with the quality and variety of food served in a la carte and buffet restaurants. Especially loved the Italian a la carte resto, wood oven, fresh pizza and home made pastas. Attentive service from all and especially from our server Nathaniel! He was so nice, made our dinning experience Top of the class! The Méditerranéen restaurant had nice hors d’oeuvres and good selection of fish snd seafood. The natural exotic jungle forest was so wonderful, every day we would see beautiful peacocks, pink flamingos, toucans, monkeys tree hoping! Waterfalls everywhere, amateurs of nature will be amazed by it’s beauty! Pool is impeccable, as is the entire resort! Daily musical entertainment on both sides, Tucan & Quetzal, nightly shows are pretty good also! One of the perks! Foam party in the pool!!! If you are looking for a quality resort next to Playa del Carmen, this is one of the best! Been at Riu, very loud all day long, sometimes you like peace and quiet and Iberostar has the perfect balance of entertainment for all ages! They actually have staff walk around during the day to offer you fresh towels!!! Never have I seen such service and I have been to Riu’s, Paradisus, Melia’s, Palace many luxury resorts and this place is not as flashy or new as others but has much more to offer in terms of memorable experiences. Loved the wide, sandy beach, very well maintained considering the seaweed situation in the Caribbean. 5 star hotel Would love to go back and learn more about Iberostar memberships it was a great resort thanks to the great people that work there 😊

Relatively quiet resort, good food, comfy beds, and great service from the staff. Could always get a beach chair, no matter what time of day. Restaurant choices are plentiful. An easy taxi ride or walk into Playa Del Carmen. Only downside was the seaweed on the beach. Not the resorts fault obviously, but they need to invest in some mechanized removal, since three guys with wheelbarrows doesn't have enough of an impact.

Jungle in the middle of a resort is a first for me and it was definitely a highlight. Monkeys, peacocks, iguanas, flamingos and more. Staff are all amazing and work so hard to make guests feel welcome and taken care of. Pool is very large and configuration allows for different activities simultaneously and never feels full. Beach has soft, powder like sand and never had difficulty finding shade when needed. Sea was warm, unfortunately had a few days of seaweed that prevented us from going in but this is no fault of the hotel. 10 minute ride to Playa Del Carmen-.great restaurants and shopping.

When we arrived at the hotel our room was not ready yet....this was at 2:30pm. They asked us to come back at 3pm to check in as our room would be ready. We went back to check into our room and it wasn't ready until 3:45. While we were waiting for our room to be ready we booked our 3 a la carte dinners. They said they would squeeze us in as they were booked solid. Upon arriving at each of our a la carte meals the restaurants were 3/4 empty. I don't understand why they made a big deal about booking these a la cartes when there was lots of room to fit us in. The Mexican and Steakhouse were very disappointing. The Mexican restaurant didn't have many selections and the Steakhouse overcooked the steak. The entertainment was good but way too late for kids. The entertainment started at 9:30pm and ended between 10:30pm and 11pm. It was pouring rain out and all rooms were suppose to have an umbrella in the closet. We did not have one and we requested one from the front desk and never received one. We scheduled a pick up the night before we were to leave with the bell boy for 8:45am the next morning. No one showed to pick us up and nobody answered the phone when we called. We ended up having to walk our luggage to the front. On a positive note the buffets were fantastic. The waiters were very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The bartenders were great with our kids who loved ordering different drinks. The entertainment staff was fantastic as well. We enjoyed the shows and events that they put on throughout the day. The resort was very clean. Our room was cleaned daily and the fridge was always refilled. There was lots of wildlife which was a big hit with our kids. The wifi was good as well.

The resort is absolutely beautiful, the beach is amazing. The food was great & the drinks as well. What most impressed me tho was the service; everyone was so fun & kind. Will return for sure & recommend it to friends & family.

We loved the grounds and staff. A jungle in the middle of the resort with loads of animals roaming about was a pleasure to walk through and see everyday. The beach is incredible as it enabled a 3 or 4 km walk everyday. Food is good. Staff are excellent and super helpful. Very safe, very clean.

Georgeous property! Free form pool was great ; site is shared by IBEROSTAR Tuscan . Get up by 7:00 am if you want a longer ! Pool side entertainment exuberant! Beach is nice but waves very rough . Staff excellent! Rooms spacious and always kept tidy by staff . Evening entertainment is typical . Walkways are slate with cement in between, making it uneven and difficult for seniors . Enjoyed the Howler Monkey antics. Food, lots of variety , good quality . A la carte’s underwhelming . Sushi was great

My wife and I came back from Iberostar Quetzal and it was great. Fantastic food, service, and the pool/beach was great. Nothing but a great experience. My only concern is with Sunwing and their lack of transparency with travel to and from the hotel. We ended up having to pay a lot of money to get to the airport on our way home because of the lack of communication on their behalf.

This was definitely worth the money. Absolutely beautiful surroundings with nature at its best. Hotel was very clean and the food was excellent. Location is 30 minutes to playa on foot. Didn’t seem crowded by the pool.

We enjoyed there every minute. Service was excellent. There was variety of food. Lovely location with different cute birds and animals. Everybody was friendly and tried to bring us only good memories about our holidays.

Hotel had a lot to offer everyone in our group, from 5 years old to 75 years young. Food was consistently good, pool was beautiful and beach location exquisite. Larger resort than we have previously experienced so less of a community feel among guests and staff. But overall, the evening shows were breath taking and the experience was a good one.

We love this hotel. It has a very Mexican feel which a lot of resorts are abandoning. (See Riu) We love the colours and the jungle feel. The smaller size of the resort also makes it very easy to get around. While there is less choice in the buffet than some of the larger resorts, the quality of the food is amazing! The Playacar beach is probably the nicest beach in the Mayan Riviera. The pool is great , however a couple more shallow areas for the kids would be nice. The staff at this resort are also incredibly helpful! We only had a couple minor complaints about the Quetzal. 1) There is only one drink bar down by the beach which can get really busy. 2) The rooms are a bit on the small side with double beds instead of queens. This makes it a bit more cramped when travelling with small kids. However, the positives far outweigh the negatives and we definitely plan on returning to this resort.

This resort was beautiful there was lots to do very clean service was the best we've had the rainforest was breathtaking so many animals brightly colored and clean the live entertainment was very good too the food was great especially New Year's Eve and the staff the front desk the coffee shop the maids every person in there should be recommended because they were all wonderful not one person wasn't friendly we would go to this Resort again the brochure does not do justice to this hotel try it yourself you won't be disappointed

This hotel was beautiful it had many different animals the people were so friendly the accommodations were beautiful clean we will go there again this hotel was run beautifully the front desk people were excellent the cleaning staff was excellent the food was amazing the entertainment was amazing if I were to give this a rating I would say 10 because in my opinion everything was beautiful in this hotel the grounds were well-maintained and even if something happened they were right there to fix it I'm so happy that we picked this hotel because of the rainforest and the rainforest is large the animals are beautiful colors and lots of them so if you want my opinion I'd be telling people about it thank you

I was at first sceptical on going but in all honesty it was amazing!! The hotel was beautiful!! The staff was amazing!! A few people that should be called out was our maid she made our room beautiful every morning including towels made into new animals and rose pedals 🥰 the front desk clerk Fernando was very helpful! The man that worked the bar in the lobby was amazing very high on detail and fast paced and sooo friendly! ALL staff was welcoming and friendly full of Smiles and eager to help with anything! The hotel had amazing and beautiful food every single day and night! The animals in the “jungle” were friggen gorgeous and soothing and exhilarating and overall I still can’t believe how amazing this stay was! I will definitely be coming back and bring a few new people with me to experience what I did! Thank you sooo much for giving me such a great memory of my First ever tropical vacay!! Oh and the beaches 😩😍😍just amazing

This is a very good hotel with almost everything you need except a hot tub.The highlight of our stay was hand feeding the monkeys every day. The food was good in all restaraunts except the Italian were it was very good.We would like to thank the concierge staff for getting a birthday cake for one of our family members, this really made her holiday a memorable one. Would also like to thank the cleaning staff for building #27 for the great job & all of the wonderful towel art.It was an amazing stay & Thank-You Iberostar Quetzal

The good: WiFi and internet connections are good with plenty of bandwidth. Was able to stream videos on the beach most of the time. Never lost WiFi connection but internet connection dropped a couple of times. The bad: Good liquors are not included anymore and the price is insane. From the free ones you have to do your research and specifically ask for a decent one. Smoking is forbidden in many areas but this is not really enforced.

Not sure where to begin… Iberostar Resorts remain a wonderful place to vacation – where your every need is met. This is our second stay at an Iberostar Resort and it never disappointed. We loved the beautiful grounds of Quetzal – It is as if the architects took a piece of jungle and carefully decided where each building and feature would fit in best, without spoiling its superb surroundings. Wonderful views of water-features, tropical vegetation, and beautiful Mexican colours are a feast for the eyes. Wildlife such as the comical, and sometime cheeky, coatimundi; agouti, grey squirrel, and black iguana abound in every exquisite area, howler monkeys shout noisily in the tree-tops, while the eagles fly high overhead scanning for prey. Exotic birds move freely in and out of the resort; colourful parrots, majestic pink flamingos, swans, grey crowned cranes. heron as well as many smaller species. The beautiful walks that meander through the resort are alive with the pleasant sound of waterfalls, and babbling streams – If you love nature you will love this place. While this resort has all the modern amenities one comes to expect of a five-star hotel, it delivers even more with its setting. Just minutes from the warm Caribbean Sea and a wide flat beach with white powder-soft sand, it has an illusion of being in the middle of a rain-forest. Very clever on the part of the designers! The meals were scrumptious, I have to commend the skill and artistry of the pastry chef – Alejandro – He is world class and his amazing creations have to be seen to be believed - Truly amazing and mouth-watering. Our room was kept spotless by the inconspicuous housekeeping team who left rose petal adorned towel creation on our comfortable king-size bed. The evenings were whiled away with awesome meals eaten at the elegant specialty restaurants and entertainment of a high standard. From reception to grounds-keepers, all the staff were friendly and polite. Having raved on about how much we enjoyed our stay there is one person I need to single out. Upon arrival at the airport there was a miscommunication between Iberoservice and the Sunwing agents and we were left without a shuttle service to the hotel. After waiting in the hot sun for 2 hours we decided to grab a taxi. At the concierge desk an exceptionally helpful YOUSEF took us under his wing and went above and beyond his duty, to sort out the issue. He made several phone calls, walked us to the Iberoservice desk where we received little assistance and then took us to the Sunwing representative, Antonio, who without hesitation refunded our taxi fare in full. I know that it is this kind of service that gives a business a good reputation, turns a bad situation into an opportunity to shine, and keeps customers coming back. YOUSAF – you are an amazing compliment to Iberostar, you are passionate to serve your customers and care only about their satisfaction. Because of you, we will continue to come back to Iberostar.

We had a fantastic time at the Iberostar Quetzal. Grounds were beautiful, food and drinks were good, entertainment was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There are lots of mosquitoes so bring repellent. Our room was quite small, but we were okay with that, the pool is deep so bring floaties. Unfortunately we did have lots of seaweed, but we knew that beforehand so we did not let that bother us. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay there again in the future.

The hotel was amazing. Very clean and beautiful grounds. The food was very good. Hotel rooms were comfortable and clean. Shower stall was large which was great. We would go back to this resort in the future and recommend to family and friends

We loved the place. Great for adults and kids alike. The staff was great and the buffet amazing. Had child minding services that were great. The room and facilities were kept at an amazing level of clean.

This hotel was amazing, rooms are roomy and spotless. The staff are wonderful. Grounds are so beautiful, spa was amazing. Youseff at guest services made our holiday! He was so courteous, polite and knowledgeable. He always had a great smile and willing to help. We had superior rooms so we were close to the ocean. This resort has the best beach on the strip by far. I would definitely return to this resort!

Lots of activities to do throughout the day from beach games to obstacle courses in the pool. Excellent entertainment shows at night. Good beach with swimming area. If you want to get a lounge chair at the beach should get there early as people tend to claim them early. The restaurant reservations fill up fast so book before you arrive if possible, but the general buffet is excellent and has different features every night so I wasn’t disappointed that we didn’t get to try many of the restaurants.

This was our 3rd visit to the Iberostar Quetzal. We enjoyed this last visit just as much as our first. The food; amazing. The buffet is just as good as the al a cart restaurants. The grounds: impeccable. Jungle views, monkeys, peacocks, flamingos are just a few of the sights you will see. The beach: perfection. Soft, white sand and crystal blue water. We give this resort 5 stars; not only for the resort itself but for its staff.

We were very impressed with the resort. It was very clean & well maintained. The grounds were beautiful & the beaches clean. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating. We are considering returning to the same location.

We had a wonderful time at this resort which met all of our expectations. We were there for 7 nights in mid-November. The hotel grounds are very beautiful with paths in luxuriant forest - a sanctuary for several animals from monkeys to flamingos. The hotel and the rooms are well maintained and very clean. The food at the buffet was good with lots of choices. We ate at 4 of the 5 restaurants: We enjoyed the Japonese restaurant the most, but we're disappointed by the Mexicain one. There was entertainment for all ages all through the day and the evenings shows were excellent; the theater was always packed. The beach is beautiful and allows for long walks. The hotel is also very well located in a safe area at a 30 minute walk from the 5th avenue and 5 minutes from a strip mall. All the personnel at the resort was very friendly, helpful and always smiling despite their long working hours. I will return to this resort no hesitation.

Pros: 1) Updated, cool, clean, comfortable rooms. 2) Free decent Wi-Fi throughout the resort (Bravo - our connected society appreciates Iberostars progressive approach with free wifi) 3) Crazy wonderful, lush wildlife jungle setting. 4)Fantastic beach 5) Shaded palapas everywhere 6)Great location to PDC. 7) Excellent beach bar service (Diana) 8) Excellent room features, charging ports in wall plug, phone also was equipped with android cable, iphone lightening, old school apple charger, and soeaker charger. 9) Snacks, well stocked fridge, and room service. 10 Excellent hospitality throughout Cons: 1) They sold out the beachfront on Quetzal side. No swimming on Quetzal side - closer to use RIU Yucatans ocean front to swim than to walk over to Tucan. Sold out a HUGE portion to jet ski, parasail, diver center, and snorkelling boats businesses. SHAME!!! Cut their area 75% and rope off boat lane - nothing was marked. 2) Smoking everywhere....disgusting while eating, or on a hot beach. Need a non smoking area....get with the times. Sandos next door has non smoking enforced areas. 3) Food got redundant (was plentiful, and tasty, but never changed much.) 4) Room service should change their times so it's available when restaurants are closed. (Late night early mornings) 5) Fish ponds surrounding buffets were filthy swamp pond scum that desperately needed cleaning the green algae 6) Blown speakers and super loud music in beach buffet....

I visited Iberostart Quetzal with my boyfriend in early September for 1 week. Overall a great experience: 1) Beaches were beautiful and well kept 2) Entertainment was for great and for all ages 3) Great resort for both families and adults - they have an adult only pool 4) Grounds were well kept and animals kept to themselves 5) Friendly Staff On areas to improve: 1) Food - in general the food was average and my boyfriend ended up getting food poisoning the day before we left 2) At times had to make multiple requests for items, i.e. bottled water

No complaints, really. Property, rooms, grounds, staff at all levels & food are great. However, 2 points: A. Food was a bit salty--keeping in mind that salt can always be added by the person eating. B. 9 PM shows: The first 30 to 45 minutes were always in Spanish--extremely boring for someone who doesn't speak the language.

Room was great ,clean , employee were exvellent inside and out , food and restaurant were amazing , people are very friendly and helpfull, I would rate it as 200 . I really enjoyed every min I was there . Thank you

We had a great time during our stay at Iberostar Quetzal. We stayed from April 7th to April 14th The weather was pretty good, day time temperatures during our stay were around 30 degrees Celsius and it rained only once but at night. Some days it was windy at the beach. We found the Iberostar shows and staff performance better than in other resorts we visited in the past and we were always looking forward to see the nightly shows. The staff at the resort was always friendly and helpful, specially Karlos from entertainment. WiFi was available throughout the resort and we never had an issue with it. The resort grounds are well kept. In particular, we really liked the small jungle between the pools and the main restaurants and lobby. It was very peaceful. You can see lots of wildlife like: monkeys, flamingos, peacocks, swam, docks, Iguanas, turtles, agouties etc. We also enjoyed that the grounds have two good quality tennis courts and at 8:00 am a tennis pro would provide some basic ball feeding to practice your strokes. This was a pleasant surprise and it was a great way to meet other tennis players in the resort. The ball feeding lasted about 30 min and afterwards the Pro would pair players to play a game. The food was excellent with good selection and quality. The a la carte restaurants we enjoyed most were the Japanese and Italian. Finding reservations for a la carte restaurants was never an issue. The main buffet is open from 7:00 am to 10:00 am (breakfast), 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm (lunch) and from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm (dinner). It would be nice if there is less gap between lunch and dinner at the main buffet. The beach at the resort is one of the best in the area. It is very wide, sandy and there aren't any rocks. The water was clear with beautiful shades of green and blue. Seaweed started to wash up after our 2nd day and the staff was working hard to clean it up but they were not able to keep up with it. They need more staff and equipment to clean it. Beach chair: We always found enough beach chairs and shade and it was never an issue during our stay. The resort is located close to Playa del Carmen. I takes about 30 minutes to walk to Playa del Carmen or 5 minutes by taxi. One night, we walked to Playa del Carmen and enjoyed the street performers located at "Parque Fundadores" close to Quita Avenue and Benito Juarez Avenue. It was such a nice surprise to watch these shows of the Mexican and Mayan culture. It was a great place to seat down, rest and take some pictures. Make sure to tip the street performers. I was amazed at how good they do the street performances. Later we walked along 5th avenue where we dined and shopped. Overall it was a great resort and enjoyed our vacation at this location.

The staff were amazing,great service, clean rooms and good food. All the à la carte restaurants were good except the Mexican restaurant was just ok. Rosie from the lobby bar is excellent and made our vacation. Edwardo the consierge was also amazing. I would recommend this resort to friends and would go again

An amazing resort that's very welcoming and offering excellent service and dining. Rooms are spacious, well kept and clean. The grounds, which include an ecosystem and fauna, are pleasant to walk through and offer settings for photography. The extensive beach allows for play, relaxation and long walks. The staff is attentive and experienced.

The hotel is amazing in many ways. 1. It's located in a gated area of Playa del Carmen. 2. The receptions and service staff are friendly and experienced 3. The grounds are very well kept and the eco system is very pleasant. 4. The food was fresh and well prepared. 5. I was very thankful for the special attention of the chefs and assistants in providing selections of gluten & lactose free foods(Medical requirement). 6. Excellent and courteous service in the dining rooms and restaurants. 7. The nightly entertainment is quite enjoyable.

We have returned to this resort 5 years in a row. Each year we bring along different family members and everyone has enjoyed their stay immensely! The size of the resort is perfect, the beach is great for walking, the pool is always a place where we spend a lot of time. The rooms, the food are all excellent. The best part of this resort is definitely the staff and managers. They are what makes this resort a place where we will always return. We have met the same staff now each year for the last 5 years and they are such lovely and hard working staff. We cannot say enough about the Chefs in the buffet restaurant as well. Several members of our family have dietary restrictions and the resort provided us with a letter to show the staff whenever we were unsure of ingredients in some of the food. Every evening one of the Chef's would walk us through the buffet indicating what was safe for us to eat. Amazing service! It was my birthday and they even surprised me with a dessert that I was able to eat. I cannot say enough about the Iberostar Resorts. Their customer service is excellent! We will be back next year again.

We were fortunate enough to win and for that I am grateful. The experience was a most wonderful one. The flight down was a little chilly but I managed to cover up quite well. Upon landing we were received at the airport by your representatives with signs, well dressed and TRANSAT logo well in view. The drive to our hotel was a pleasant one. As per hotel: WOW! I have never been to an all inclusive resort that had SO much to offer. The service (always right there if you needed that little extra bit of wine etc), room (very spacious and clean), surroundings were all above and beyond expectation. I enjoyed the location so much that I will be returning to this particular Iberostar with family. I have been talking about my surroundings non stop to everyone since I got back. And I haven't touch on everyone yet! Let me expand! The animal life and beautiful plants were everywhere. The flamingos lively colour, the monkeys nest right outside our bedroom window ( we were on the top floor) the lizards basking in the sun by the pool we frequented ( they did not bother a soul and were not intimated when walking right by them or taking a close up pic), the peacocks (did you know they could fly? We did not until one was posing for us on our balcony--did I mention we were on the top floor), the beautiful waterfalls, landscape, numerous birds, and other little "rodents" (can't remember their name) just meandering about. I JUST LOVED BEING THERE!!!!!! For me it was not just basking in the sun/drinking and having a good time (too old for that now I guess) I go for the warmth more than the sun. So you see all the extra nature like activities were for me two holidays in one. The weather was great and I must say I had a very relaxing and most enjoyable week. Staff were great. Good food. Nice rooms. Excellent service. Nice choice of resturants. Good selection of excursions. The trip back and forth to the airport was easy. We always felt safe and secure.
