We enjoyed our stay at Grand Aston and would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a break from the Canadian winter. Pros: Amazing beach for swimming, snorkeling, and sunset watching. Beautiful grounds landscape. Operational gym. Hot water, working airconditioning. Friendly and hardworking staff. Fabulous nightly live music in the lobby with occasional dancing parties. Enough food and drinks for everyone. Cons: Biting insects, like in all other hotels we've stayed in Cuba. Day time intertanement was not consistent and mostly missing. I would love having daily dance classes as they were scheduled. Overall: We enjoyed our stay and will come back.

My husband, sister and I went on vacation to this resort. It was the most amazing resort. Best vacation we have ever been on. We connected with the entertainment staff, Emilio, Alejandro, Thalia and Fito made our stay absolutely the best. The rooms were clean, vibe was good, beach was amazing and food was good as well. The 3 of us cannot say enough good things about this resort.

Worst adherence to standards. When you know we are going to a certain room then you have to make sure we get what we pay for. It was not the case. We took the building 11 where we are expected to get a Fridge full of soft drinks, alcohol etc but nothing was there. The Flush was not working and there was no Water. There was no Hot Water for bath and everything fell on deaf ears. We loved the place, the Hotel, etc. The Food ofcourse is not to our liking and we do accept it in Cuba. However, there were no Fruits, not even a banana which is a part of Cuban culture and fruits. People were nice but their requests to do the needful did not suffice. We do trips, All inclusives, Cruises etc. on a monthly basis and would have recommended Cuba but will have to wait until you guys do something about everything.

We stayed at Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas for one week. The resort is very large and includes an adults-only section that is quieter and closer to the beach. Our room was near the lobby and restaurants. There was a small private beach nearby, but it was only suitable for snorkeling. For swimming, we had to take a golf cart to another beach, which unfortunately was not clean, had a bad smell, and was full of jellyfish. The children were afraid to enter the water. From the third day, we traveled about 20 minutes by bus to a nearby resort to enjoy the beautiful Caya Santa Maria beach. Unfortunately, this hotel does not have a nice beach. The food variety was acceptable, mostly chicken and pasta, but there were limited fruits and vegetables. The staff were very polite and friendly. On our last day, we were badly bitten by insects, and even after four days we still have itching and pain. I do not recommend this hotel for families with small children.

The hotel itself was great, clean and in good repair. Pools were clean. Food was consistent, had eggs and bacon everyday. No supply issues with food/alcohol. Beach is very nice with great snorkeling but is a considerable distance from the main hotel, also no snack bar at the beach which is a negative. I personally like the beach being closer. No-see-ums (bugs) were bad at times.

The ranking of this resort is not considered to be a 4-5 star resort because it has been scaled back to appease the local tourism community. The first two days starting Saturday June 14-2025 were absolutely despicable. We had to Que to just get into the dining room, waiting for more than an hour each time and then once inside the dining room we had to wait in long slow lines and literally fight over scraps of food because the locals would have taken everything. By the second day this was still continuing and we were furious about the behavior of most of the people who were ignorantly taking advantage of the food availability and had zero consideration for anyone else except themselves.Taken into account that it was the last week this resort was open (closing until November apparently)and Father’s Day weekend. Added to the list was the lack of mosquito control. Everyone was getting eaten alive. Only after the weekend did they start to fog the property for mosquito control. The whole experience was just too much for us and we were tempted to leave the resort and transfer to another location. Now we always come prepared and we had brought a lot of food with us so we didn’t go hungry. Two days later the crowds had left the resort and the resort population had dropped significantly. By Tuesday we were able to move freely into the dining room and obtain food not scavenged by everyone else . This is the third time to this resort in three years and it was not acceptable the behavior of the locals. No enforcement was done in order to prevent the problem. Complaints were never made because we tried our utmost effort to refrain from actually contacting air Canada ??. Now we know many of the staff who are working there and they had all been extraordinary helpful and kind to us. Specially many of the kitchen staff, and the bar staff . Hayler , Toni , Elvis and the other bar staff were absolutely amazing and they went out of their way to make sure we were good. The front desk staff were very helpful especially upon arrival and they switched our room to an oceanview so we were very happy with that. We love the location of this resort because it has the best view and beaches anywhere in the world. While most of the locals were at the pool we had the beach mostly to ourselves and THIS is why we tolerated the poor behavior of the locals at all mealtimes the first three days. I would have given it a 5star rating but the first two days were not handled professionally. I can tell you that most foreigners like us would have not accepted the same treatment and would have left the resort on the first day. We have a lot of experience in Cuba so we toughed it out and we are glad we did. Big recommendation for our Agent Saskia Singh who has been our agent for many years now . Starfish Cayo Coco is one of our favorite places to go and I hope it will improve the next time we visit!!

The resort is beautiful; the rooms are nice, pleasantly sirprised with good quality shower equipment. Floor to ceiling mirror in the room is a pleasant feature. We had a 3rd bed in a room for our daughter, but this only good for a smaller kids, for a bigger person it' too flimsy, but the regular beds are good. TV has usb port, so the pen drive with movies we brough proved useful. The beach is not too big, but big enough; has a lot of palapas and always had a lot of space. Stuff is very friendly. Towels are always available. Entertainment is very decent, different live music artists in the lobby every evening. Especially should mention Monday show "Michael Jackson". Really high level group with amazing choreography, we stayed 2 weeks and enjoyed the show twice. Last, but not least, the food was better than I expected after hearing stories of pasta-only choices in some resorts. Eggs, sausage, pancakes, pastry, very decent cheese and cold cuts, fresh and cooked vegetables, yogurt and kefir, juices for breakfast. Fish, beef liver and ground beef, pork and chicken drumsticks, lots of pasta , rice, and beans, cooked vegetables and pineapples, soup, pastry for lunch and dinner, always decent selection of fresh fruits. Not a high end restaurant taste, but very decent. Coffee didn't impress, I had better coffee in Cuba before, but the Cuban Coffee made artistically in the lobby after dinner is really good. Internet is available everywhere even on the beach Overall, a good vacation.

This was my first stay in the Cayo Santa Maria area. The price was right for 2 weeks. Adult pool was the best. I am a beach person, however due to the amount of biting bugs in this area I avoided the beach. Not good for swimming. There is alot of vegetation and sharp rocks in the water. Water shoes are a must. However great for a beach walk. Staff are friendly and helpful if you have a translation app. Many spoke little English, it was difficult to communicate the simplest conversation. Drinks and coffees were inconsistant. The beer was always good. Daily fresh fruit, salad bar, bread, and pasta were good. Otherwise, few food selections compared to many Cuban resorts I visited. Bring your salad dressing. The nightly lobby entertainment was good, the Micheal Jackson show was excellent. The nightly rolled out cart bar in the lobby served the best spanish coffee. The weather was perfect, breezy in the evenings so you never felt smothered by the heat. The spa experience was so enjoyable. The massage was the best.

The layout is nice, adult side and family side…..was quiet when I was there but I could see it being very active with more people…. The shows…usually I could not care less about them….but the Michael Jackson show was excellent…. The crew working in the resort….pretty much keep things going and are ever engaging … Food…well it is Cuba…but better than the last 3 Cuban resorts i been to.

All areas of the hotel are modern, clean and comfortable. The pool is beautiful, it was perfect for our family with children ranging from 3 months to 12 years. The beach is a far walk from the family section but the water was shallow and calm for the kids. It’s great for snorkeling but I recommend water shoes. Chino at the pool bar made special kid friendly drinks for the kids daily, he made their vacation very special.

We stayed in the adult section for one week. We had no complaints!! Great value, the food was good, the pool, our room and the grounds were clean. Lots of hot water for showers, our mini fridge was replenished every day and we had toilet paper! The snorkeling was amazing! Our room key gave us some trouble but staff were quick to help.

My partner and I recently stayed at this resort, and unfortunately, our experience was far from pleasant. During our stay, we met another guest who had encountered bedbugs in building number 11. Afterward, we noticed that buildings 5 and 6 were closed off for some unknown reason, which immediately raised concerns. We had been told that mosquitoes were not an issue in the area, but we started noticing bites on our skin during our stay. After returning to Ontario, we realized we had bedbug bites from head to toe. Once we arrived home, we immediately undressed outside, showered in HOT HOT WATER and did NOT bring our luggage into our home. Aside from the insect problem, the food and service were absolutely terrible. We were extremely disappointed with the quality of everything. Given the infestation and overall lack of attention to cleanliness and guest experience, I would not recommend this place to anyone. It’s only a matter of time before every building here has an issue with bedbugs, and the entire resort should be shut down until they take proper steps to address the problem.

Cute hotel which is needing a little fixing here and there but that won’t discourage you to stay there. Food is flavourful and drinks plentiful. Beach waters are beautiful indeed but may need to walk a minute or two to find solitude as it’s busy and the chairs/loungers are always full or broken. Pools are clean and the resort is always well kept. Only negative thing was waiting an extremely long time for my room. Staff are friendly and try to do everything possible to make sure you have a great stay. Just remember they do run out of food and drink items as they don’t have the easy access like other country resorts. Give it a try.

Had an amazing time on our girls trip! Food & drinks were good, staff very friendly. Rooms clean & spacious. Pools & beach amazing. Only complaint was lack of toilet paper and cleanliness of public washrooms.

We found the Grand Aston Las Brugas to be very comfortable and welcoming . We had a nice king bedroom in the Adult Section. We enjoyed the pool as well as the great bartender by the Adult pool. The ladies that worked at the Adult snack bar were very friendly and attentive. We want to mention in particular Yakimis Madrigal Peraza as a wonder house maid, she is friendly and thorough. We really enjoyed the French restaurant with super service provided by Michel Carrazana Santana and the lovely Katrina Bello. They all made our vacation so enjoyable The musicians at the lobby were superb especially the young guitar player who did a lot of Country songs. The Michael Jackson show was spectacular. We also enjoyed the jazz bar and drinks made by Julio, he is quite talented. A special thank you also to Yanet from Holasun for her friendship and help booking an amazing lobster dinner at the One Gallery. The front desk staff including Richert were always helpful and friendly also.

The grounds were absolutely beautiful,lots of flowers,well taken care of! Beautiful beach ,large ,clean swimming pools! Food was good,lots to eat especially if you're willing to try some different dishes. Very,very friendly staff!

Rooms are clean although our power shut off any time we opened the sliding glass door. Thankfully the mechanic showed us where the panel was so we could fix it ourselves. Grounds were consistently getting worked on while they were there. None of the outdoor showers worked to get the sand off. Not enough chairs anywhere! If you don’t have your towel out by 6am, good luck. Food was blah even for Cuba, no pizza! Talked to people from other resorts who were there at the same time, and it seemed like this resort specifically lacked a lot, especially when the resort doubled over the weekend. Also having to make reservations at the buffet was ridiculous. Snack bar on adult side closed at 3 (where the servers were amazing tho) and no specialty ala cartes for people with upgraded bands. Bartenders at the main pool were rude. Bartender on the adult only side was a god send and made amazing drinks with the product he has available.

Hi I liked the staff was amazing but the management are very unprofessional they didn't listen for what we been ask for no place for the kids to play no attention for my son from the hotel at all. They told me the play ground open but never was open I will give 3 start not 5. My son 3 years old i got charge same as an odult .

Just returned from a week at the Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas. I would definitely recommend this resort: it's nice and clean and well laid out - Having been to Cuba close to 20 times now here are a couple of notable things: -The Cubans can NOT use Canadian coins, so if you're tipping either use US or Canadian $ (we brought US$1's from here, but you could exchange there as well); -The resort has LOUD music on the beach (and the pool actually) and no way to escape it, so if you're looking for a quiet beach spot this is not it. At one point I was 200m away, UNDER water in the ocean with EARPLUGS in and I could literally hear our beach music clearly - also walking the entire bay you can hear our music the whole time, even over the other resorts that you walk past; -The staff here are really lovely and some of the best I've encountered in terms of friendliness, service, and taking initiative; -If you have been to Cuba before you will know to check the public bathrooms for toilet paper before you go in, they often don't have any, but as long as you're prepared it's fine - our room was always stocked; -The shows are LOUD, again, earplugs necessary; -We stayed in Building 8 on the third floor (room 848 and 849) and had beautiful views of the beach. This building is located right between the main lobby/buffet and the adults only section/beach so we found it perfect to access both the buffet/lobby and beach; -We brought toothbrushes, hair accessories, toothpaste, etc to give to the maid each day and when I asked her what they really needed most she said clothing and baby/kid supplies were the most challenging for them due to cost or availability. One of the staff asked us for cigarettes which we didn't have as we don't smoke, but maybe that's hard as well; -We felt safe at all times at this resort, and in Cuba generally. The culture and people are very friendly and will pretty much drop everything to help you, they're very kind; -The food was pretty good at the buffet (we didn't do any a-la-carte): always a good mix of papaya, starfruit, fresh octopus (SO good), fish, stews and loads of fresh bread and butter at every meal; -We took the catamaran rides 3 days and I would HIGHLY recommend it, it was SUPER fun and our 'captain' was very skilled; -The resort/beach is situated so that it's sheltered from the prevailing winds, which is in large part why we chose it, perfect location for us and we had hot sunny weather the whole week (Jan. 28-Feb. 4, 2025). Overall a beautiful week in a beautiful country.

Don’t book this hotel no internet in the room you have to come to lobby no food around only at snack bar but it’s very bad food. Entertainment Is same each night. overall don’t go to this resort it waste of money.

We took a break from Cuba because we were tired of the resorts running out of food, and drinks, I was very impressed by this resort, it was clean, the rooms are big with plenty of drawers, the food was fantastic, they never ran out of anything, the selection was pretty decent as well. I hope the resort keeps up with good management I would like to go back

This spa & resort was more than my expectations. The amenities were so great and welcoming. The beach is amazing with all the water sports that you could ever want. The rooms were clean and up to date. The food was amazing as well. Had everything we needed every day. Most of all the staff were extremely helpful, friendly and supportive

Well this was our first holiday like this and it was nice and everything but you need to bring some stuff from home the bugs were bad needed bug spray the resort should stock some should also stock some different pills from Canada for us Canadians if you don’t plan it can ruin your trip so we got sick when there and there was no where to get meds to get better the resort was nice most people were great some were not so great so really it would depend on what you are looking for in a resort to say if I would recommend this resort or not if you want to just stay on a resort and not explore Cuba at all and do the few excursions they have then yes go there if you are looking for a place that you can explore Cuba a bit then find a different resort near a town this one is 48kms away from a town so if you just want to stay on the resort and go to the pool or beach then this could be the place for you if you like snacks bring your own if you like salad dressing bring your own.

Lots of issues with check ins throughout many bus loads, rooms not ready, ours included. Very disappointed, most staff barely spoke English even in customer facing roles. The hotel was run down, it might have been nice when it was new, but doesn't seem like much up keep is happening. Advertised WIFI throughout the resort but it wasn't great at all. We had no toilet in one room for a few days and the other one kept running at a slow dribble. We had no sheets in one room for two nights and had to use towels; the bed sheets were stained. One pillow for two people sharing a bed. The beds were too soft and for someone that has never had back issues, I was in so much pain that I barely got any sleep. We couldn't get dry beach towels our entire stay. Sometimes we had no cleaning service, not that we are dirty, just that with sand it is nice to have the floors swept. The cabanas are all run down and falling apart. The beach area is not very swimmer friendly due to the rocks. Almost all lounge chairs were broken. There was not enough of them around the pool areas. The food was cold most times because the heating part wasn't working, so it was hit and miss. Many times it was over or under cooked. Two of our five had issues with the food. They ran out of butter and put out mayo/salad dressing instead. The activities were not like what I have experienced at other resorts, very little effort put into them and not great at all; certainly never on time. Couldn't get a soccer ball or basketball to keep the kids busy. I think they had a great name to start but have let everything go now that they are established.

We had a relaxing and enjoyable time at Grand Aston June 6 to 13, 2024. The resort is fairly new and the design of the rooms and the public spaces is modern and colorful. We had no problems with the shortages we heard of at other resorts, Full range of liquor available, cocktails, wine, beer was steady, had omelets for breakfast every morning, pools were clear and in good shape. This resort catches nice ocean breezes in several areas. Of course the staff make the place, we had friendly service in the Lobby bar, the pool bar, from our room stewards, and particularly in the "Snack bar" which is really a full service bar with restaurant service that changes throughout the 24 hours it is open. We had one meal at the Cuban A La Carte, we all enjoyed it, we had some great meals at the Buffet, grilled chicken, fresh fried rice, Pasta of the day, some days we weren't into it. We ate often at the "Snack Bar" Our 'cons' are few: The beach is beautiful, and better for small children and sailing, but we missed the waves of the "main" beach on C. Santa Maria, - that's a preference. Some of the entertainment was louder than we like, with shouting to raise energy and v. high overdrive. We liked the guitar player and the sax player in the lobby and the more traditional Cuban/Latin music rather than the EDM/Techno versions. Lots of other people including the Cuban guests seemed to like it just fine. We would have liked to be in the Adults-only section since we were all adults, how to get there wasn't clear to us when we booked or when we got there, but when they told us we couldn't have a drink at the adult pool because we had the wrong wrist band, though we were clearly adults, that put us off a bit. In closing we had superb service, but best of all from Enrique and the team at the Snack Bar: friendly, professional, excellent food and drink - make that your main stop and enjoy. We all want to go back.

The hotel was very quiet. It almost felt like we were staying at a private resort. The staff was amazing and accommodating for all of our requests. The rooms were very clean and quite large with a beautiful view. We were a very large group and they went over and beyond for us. The beach was not the nicest i have seen but it was still good. There was a couple days when there was not alot to eat but otherwise it was great! We go there for the sun and service! Also, the Michael Jackson show was great!

Love this resort so much. The entertainment staff are amazing and are now considered my family?? the resort is beautiful, beach is amazing, food can be repetitive but they make the best of it! I enjoy the fried rice station and they always have ice cream for dessert! Such a beautiful spot, lobby is beautiful and the snack bar open 24hrs is great. Been multiple times and can't wait to go back!

The hotel was excellent. Very clean and our rooms were cleaned daily. The resort appears new. Everything is like new. The pool was very well maintained and the kids enjoyed it. In the hotel everyone hung around the huge lobby, because it had comfortable chairs and sofas. The servers brought you a drink or espresso coffee. We enjoyed the gentleman that played guitar there nightly. So talented.

Stayed in the fiesta side. The room was very clean. Always had hot water. Staff is amazing. Food was really good. Didn’t see any shortages. It’s kind of a quiet resort. Not the best nightlife. More for an older crowd, or the kind of people who are in bed very early. Beach was just ok but boring. Not much music and zero Entertainment. Next door was much nicer.

Rooms were immaculate, no bugs and always clean with toilet paper, bottled water and towels replenished daily. The pool was massive and my daughter enjoyed a whole day of handstands and swimming like a mermaid!! The beach was about a 10 minute walk (closer to adult only side) but there was a shuttle that would help guests go the distance if they didn’t want to walk. Pool bar staff were hilarious and made the whole day enjoyable! Staff preferred US money or Canadian bills… toonies and loonies are useless to them they will be grateful to exchange them for bills as they cannot use them in Cuba. The swim with dolphins excursion was AMAZING! Only about 15 min bus ride from the resort, about 40 mins in the water swimming with them, a dolphin show and then lobster lunch! For $40 Canadian I got 140 pictures emailed me that I could print when I got home! The only negatives were the food was repetitive in the buffet. Bring syrup, hot sauces or any condiments you enjoy. We had eggs, no bacon. Sausages were hot dogs lol. We had bread with all meals and there were a pasta and fried rice station. The al a cartes were awesome! There is a pizza place by the adult only but it costs to go (about $8-$10 Canadian) but well worth it! There was also an Asian restaurant that was fee-for food but we didn’t try there! We would definitely go back just a bit more prepared next time!

Very friendly staff, if giving tips, don't give coins, only paper whether in Canadian or US Dollars. Check-in arrivals or departures should have more people behind counter. We waited almost 3 hours before getting our room and were provided WIFI details the morning after. WIFI access was pretty good, although intermittent was able to access on the beach. Food was adequate, a la carte restaurants were limited in choice selections but was adequate as well. Would definitely recommend and go back

Unpleasant experience overall. The staff exhibited rudeness, the food left much to be desired, and to add to the dismay. There was a discernible overflow from the septic system in the pathway adjacent to our room. Due to our delayed arrival, we were unable to secure a room in the designated adult section. Unfortunately, seeking assistance or posing questions often resulted in encountering some, though not all, staff members who displayed discourteous behaviour.

We have been to Santa Maria Cuba several times in recent years but this was our first visit to Grand Aston. We visited as a family, including kids and grandparents. We were there February 14-21, 2024. The people there were wonderful. The rooms were very clean and everything in the rooms worked well. The food in Cuba is inconsistent across the board, so some days the buffet was well stocked and there were tons of options. Other days there were no eggs, bread, butter and/or limited meat but we don't go to Cuba for the food (they were never out of all of those things a the same time). We go for the beautiful beaches, the wonderful people and the feeling of safety that we have there. We always found food to eat here and never went hungry. If you want to get the best food, go early. It will be busier but the food options are better. On the days that the buffet was't great, we walked down to a pizza place and a small market that is just past the adult side of the resort. The pizza was really good and averaged about $6 Canadian per person. Some of our party went to the Italian a-la-cate and said it was awful. We have never had good Italian Food in Cuba though. We went to the French a-la-carte and is was very well done. The food and the service was great. We didn't get to try the Cuban a-la-carte but I suspect that one would have been pretty good. There was also a bowling alley here that I believe was about $5 Canadian per person. The kids enjoyed that very much. The snorkelling at this resort was outstanding. There is a short path to the ocean right beside building 6. We went snorkelling in this area. If you swim to the right side there are some beautiful coral reefs with a ton of fish. We even saw sting rays. This is of the best off-beach snorkelling that we have ever done. If you like to dive or snorkel, this is a good resort for you. The larger market in Sant Maria closed down this last year which is unfortunate because it was a nice place to visit. We didn't get the chance to do it this year, but we were told that you can pay a taxi driver with a classic car $160 Canadian to drive you to the town of Remedios and back for a private tour. It's on our to do list for next year because I am told that Remedios is really beautiful. There were a few things that we did not like at this resort. There are two pool areas at this resort. The adults only side has a smaller pool that is quiet but obviously, is only for adults. If you didn't pay for this side, you can still get in but you can't get food or drinks. We were not on this side but if we had been, I would have been annoyed with the fact that I paid extra for this privacy and anyone could still get in here. Everyone going to the beach or the market needs to pass through the adults only side. My in-laws did pay to be on the adults only side. They paid significantly more than us so that they could have that privacy. They also paid extra for a full water-view room. The hotel overbooked, so they did not get a water-view room. When they inquired about it, the hotel told them that they were given a room upgrade instead of a water-view room. Their room was massive but they were only two people. They were upset because they didn't need or want a giant room. They wanted, and paid for a view that the did not get and they were never asked for their preference. The main pool area is nice but from 2pm-6pm its like going back to a dance club in the 1990's. They blast 90's techno music and rap super loud. We stayed in building 6, which is right beside the pool and could not get away from the music. It was so loud that we could hear it underwater when we were swimming in the ocean. My father-in-law has hearing aid and was miserable because he had to turn it off because of the volume of the music. Poor guy couldn't hear us speaking but still said that the music was too loud. The beach also had loud music so there was no escaping the party vibe. In my opinion, this is a great resort for a girls trip or for going with friends. Especially if you grew up in the 1990's. I would not return here with a family. Around 9am in the morning, there is an airplane the flys over the resort, multiple times, spraying some chemical to control the bugs. The good news is that bugs were not at all a problem. The bad news is that if you don't run, you will get sprayed with whatever that chemical is. Watching people scatter was quite the sight. Don't leave your clothing or towels out on the balcony to dry in the morning or they will get sprayed. This issue probably isn't resort specific but it would have liked to know about t in advance. There are shows listed in the lobby that are supposed to happen at 9:30pm in the auditorium. There were only two nights where that actually happened. The Michael Jackson show on Saturday nights was awesome. Otherwise, they do a fashion show with girls in thongs and beach cover-ups walking around the lobby and trying to sell you beach clothing. They did have a DJ or guitar player in the lobby most nights if you are into live music. The guitar player was very good and the type of music switched up from night to night. The lobby at night is very busy and again, has a party vibe that wasn't ideal for our family vacation. This is a small thing, but every time you ask for a coffee at this resort it will be made a different way and most of the time it tasted like brown water or just hot milk. We have traveled in Cuba a lot and typically their coffee is excellent. They have their own coffee brand called Cubita and they usually make killer Cafe Con Leche. There is a coffee shortage right now. On this vacation, the coffee was terrible so maybe bring your own instant coffee. One of our family members did and she just got hot water from the 24 hour cafe every morning and and had no issues. Next time, we will bring our own and leave it behind for the staff. I would suggest packing toilet paper and white wine with you. Our room always had toilet paper. Other parts of the resort did not always have it. If you go off resort, you will need it. White wine is hard to get there right now. Make sure you bring enough money to spend and tip. The bank at the resort had Canadian and US money but will only give you Cuban Pesos which are essentially useless. Nobody down there wants to get the local currency because their own stores require them to buy things in foreign currency. DO NOT bother bringing Cuban Pesos with you. The people are happy to take Canadian or US money. They can only cash paper money that is not damaged at their banks. You can tip with loonies or toonies but you will find staff asking you to trade their coins for bills if you have them. There were a lot of really great moments on this vacation. Expect to experience the friendly hospitality that you would expect in Cuba. I do think that in the future we will be looking to go to a more quite resort. Parts of are group are already planning to return in November for a girls trip to take part in some of those party vibes. We would not return as a family though.

My first holiday in almost 20 years..first time to Cuba... people were so friendly and accommodating ..most amazing ocean view...room shared with 2 others and still felt spacious...walked the beautiful beach early in the mornings with my coffee.. server Geovel was so friendly and always entertaining the 5 kids with our family and friends.. If ever given the opportunity I would happily return there..

The resort is absolutely beautiful and we will most definitely be back! As usual, not knowing a resort can cause frustration, especially after traveling and not having food for awhile, so the first bit being there was not fun, but that was on us. Cuba has never been known for their food, but they are struggling more than ever now, but you will not starve. There will be at least one or two things you will enjoy - they truly make the best with what they have. The beach was amazing, pools were beautiful, although should be cleaned more regularly as there was always debris on the bottom. Food felt like a challenge. So for toir reference the buffet is open 7-10 for breakfast, then closed until 1230-3 for lunch, then closed again until 630-10 for dinner, there is a 24hr snack bar right below, and another snack bar is the adult only section who also serves breakfast after 10 but is only oppen until 4pm. There is another option called spices, this is for Fiesta rooms, although we were adult only and ate there not knowing this, but was refused service the second time, so was a bit confusing. Also, another disappointment, was how much I enjoyed the spa area but towards the end of our stay was kicked out for not having bought a service inside, which qas a surprised to us as for 2 weeks we were always there and using the pool which looked to be open to anyone, so the confusion just added some stress and frustration, I confirmed with the lobby and asked if this was the rules and he basically said it depends on the person working, as there had been multiple other spa workers who had never said anything to us or asked us to leave. Only 1 lady did. The rooms are very nice, but can see why some people review it as being unsanitary.. it just looks used, and no sheets or towels are changed unless you ask, which is not a big deal but being there for 2 weeks we really needed new towels and found it hard to contact the lobby, as the phones didn't seem to work and had no instructions on how to dial the lobby. But overall we really enjoyed this resort and will definitely be back.. the workers are amazing and the entertainment is one of the best! Overall a very veautiful resort. Would definitely recommend especially for the prices!

Grounds were well kept . Public washroom were ok.i only used it twice. It's pretty decent resort. Very helpful and friendly stuff. They had great poolside and evening entertainment. We will go again

The resort was beautiful,the beach water was clean, the pool was nice, the Ladies who were cleaning the room were very friendly and nice, but the food was not good at all especially if you go with your kids, most of the waiters don't speak English,the dining area is full of flies, the dishes are not clean.

This is our third time at this specific resort. The beach and the snorkeling are great. Only complaint here would be the sand fleas and mosquitoes which were plentiful. Aquired many bites that kept us up at night due to the uncontrollable itching. Bug repellent did not help at all (for us anyway). After bite and aloe plants helped a bit, but not much. The pools are quite nice and clean. The grounds are well kept. There is a noticeable decline in the rooms, lobby and the buffet. Furniture, walls and floors were quite dirty. The buffet in particular. We’re not very picky, but it was kinda gross. Food was VERY limited and some of the meats were questionable whether or not they were safe to eat. Raw meat at the grill was left out at room temperature for unsafe amounts of time. I stayed away from all of the meats. Speaking with others at the resort, many had been ill with what could be from improperly prepared food (Diarrhea and vomiting). We really like the Cuban people, but won’t be returning.

Massive resort. Beautiful pools, great beach, absolutely still water. Rooms nice, most with an ocean view. The poor buffet was a sign of their failing economy. Bar staff lack customer-focussed training.

Room was good, lots of hot water were the only good things I can say. Food was awful! No eggs, minimal fruit and vegetables, getting bottled water was a fight, The snack bar ( supposed to have pizza, burgers and hotdogs only served cheese sandwiches every day except for one when they had hotdogs, which was a hotdog split down the middle on a hamburger bun NO CONDIMENTS. At the Italian restaurant the chicken parm was noodle with some white sauce and a chicken leg (yes a drumstick) dropped on top. Oh! And I should mention the main pool was drained for 2 days so everyone was in the pool in the adult only section.

The hotel and rooms were OK, but the beach and pools were the highlight. This was my fourth time to Cuba, and this was my least favorite. The food was the same every day at the buffet, and the snack bar in the adults only section didn't have most of the items on the menu available. There were no eggs for a couple days. No fries, pizza and burgers almost every day. The lobby/front desk staff were not very accommodating and ignored us when we would be at the desk to ask a question. Bar staff at the beach bar and adult pool were very friendly. The two men who cleaned our room every day were amazing.

Grounds and pools were great. Rooms were clean and the housekeeping staff was pleasant. Staff at dinners and bars were good with the exception of the lobby bar, there were a few unpleasant bar tenders. Would have been nice if everything was open, the Central Perk cafe was closed during our visit. Beach was great. Food at the buffet was not good at all, nobody in our group really ate dinner.

Arrived at hotel late New Year’s Eve. Lobby was full of patrons waiting to go to another hotel for festivities, this hotel had a low key party by the pool, lots of metallic confetti being used, took all week to remove from the pool. For the first 3 days, food and toilet paper was hard to find, apparently the hotel allows locals to use the hotel, so hoarding was an issue. The staff was great, trying to help, but, shortages of the food and TP were the issue until the next shipment came in. Needed to speak to customer service several times regarding lack of bottled water and toilet paper in hotel room. Lookout gazebo was in disrepair with rotten floor boards. Poolside entertainment was disappointing. Bring bug spray, we ended up with dozens of bites. The weather, poolside bartenders and beach made the trip enjoyable.

The staff made the place #1. The staff was cleaning almost constantly but there was a huge lack in toilet paper, people were hoarding and saving it because they weren’t refreshing the empty roles in rooms or public bathrooms. Taking into consideration that Cuba has huge shortages itself the hotel showed that. The kids only drinks were lemonade or cola. The kids club was shut down and broken. There was only one day of pina coladas or you could get rum or vodka drinks, no slushy drinks. The beach was a far walk but there was golf carts willing to drive to closer. The a la cartes didn’t have the food that was on there menus but staff did the best that they could do with what they were provided with. The entertainment really lacked at the pool bar. The first few days we were there, people were hoarding food, would take whole loafs of bread not leaving any for others but as the week went on it got better. Besides all the negative we made the best out of it. I do recommend the jeep safari that takes you into town and shows you the real Cuba.

Beautiful beach view from the ocean view rooms. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. Rooms were clean and comfortable. A-la-Carte restaurants served good food and perfect sized portions. The live shows during the evening hours were entertaining and interactive.

We have been travelling to Cuba for 17 years and this was the worst experience we ever had in Cuba.Just want to mention that we never travel to Cuba with any high expectations and we are very aware of the shortage of food, drinks etc but in this case I believe most of it was bad management. The reason I say this, is because we walked on the beach to the next door resorts and let me tell you it was not the same. The check in was a mess..our rooms were barely ready at 4 pm and once we got the 2 rooms, one of them was already occupied by someone else so we had to sort that out. The buffet barely had any good choices of food, the first day we got there they didn't even have a toaster at the bread station until we complained and they brought one out. Absolutely ridiculous! They only had eggs at breakfast for 3 days we were there and on our last 2 days they barely had bread and NO butter. They started running out of the main supplies really quickly once the resort started to fill up as of Dec 25th. Entertainment was ok..nothing special, the beach was beautiful but they could replace their beach chairs as they are awful, broken and very used up. And to top it off, the morning we left there was no water in the entire resort. I would never return to this resort.

This is my third time at this resort and first time for my son. As usual the Grand Aston never disapoints with its oustanding entertainement and the cleanliness of the rooms (always block 3/3rd floor for me) and grounds. I highly recommend!!

We've been to Cuba couple of times and always loved it. We chose this hotel because of the high reviews, but what a disappointment. Food was awful, buffet had not many choices. Bar had not much variety of cocktails or even soft drinks. Some of the staff was rude. Some of the reception staff was annoyed that we were asking questions. No good info/communication about the hotel amenities or simple info such as number for reception. We were supposed to have oceanview room but we got bushes instead, we had to ask two times for the rum that was a part of the upgrade. Nightly entertainment was pretty much not existing. Other than that room was pretty clean and nice size, housekeeping was excellent. Ladies at the adult only restaurant were amazing. Food at a la carte was ok but excellent service. Beach was amazing.

Beach is the one bright spot for this resort. Staff were friendly and worked hard. Being a newer resort, it was run down a bit. The food of course was limited as well as the drink choices. Flies and more flies in the buffet.

This resort is well looked after..Friendly staff and great services never long for anything.. And never went hungry once..Pool was clean and beach was awesome..Grounds well kept..Walking distance to everything and if you didn't want to walk they had carts to pick you up..Beach was amazing..

Hotel had so much more potential. The room was okay, safe didn’t work, shower drain was clogged, mini fridge wasn’t cold. The most disappointing thing was the staff weren’t friendly and that really put a damper on things.

Never again even for free Out of 3 resorts(Grand Aston,Sirenis and Selectum) it has the worst beach area :algae smell, grassy sea bottom no washrooms near the beach, must go to the room or lobby For one week the resort was swarmed with the locals guests, who wasted food like I never seen anywhere and this in Cuba,country which experience food shortages the Transat rep.inform us about With all respect to Cuban people it was painful to watch .Lines for half an hour just to get fried eggs, food was tasteless .Ifyou want to lose weight it's right place to go. All Service staff ( room, buffet ) was helpful trying to do whatever they could Grounds need to be cleaned (cigarette butts,plastic cups,bottles,cans etc.) Theater floor , needs good cleaning Michael Jackson Show was amazing though. But overall time and money wasted

Grounds are beautiful and well kept. The rooms are spacious, clean and everything works as it should. I did have a problem with the safe but this was quickly resolved. As is usually the case in Cuba the service is fantastic. The staff are always kind, friendly and helpful.

My overall experience was great. Staff was more than accommodating and friendly. It was unfortunate for the shortages of certain food and drink, but the presentation of what they had was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this resort.

Our booking was all over the place! Requesting a suite due to having a baby! We were placed in the furthest building from our family with stairs and no phone no wifi! Would not change! All rooms had issues all family had to move rooms due to hotel issues. Rude staff, horrible pools dirty, locals on vacation. The day before leaving food was great, pools cleaned all locals left! The whole trip was a mess. Do not recommend this resort. And I wish the booking was booked with request to all be close and appropriate accommodations for an infant as this is a family resort, lifting a stroller up three flights of stairs numerous times a day.

The resort was beautiful and the staff was very friendly. The beach was awesome however there are no bathrooms or food near the beach but there is a beach bar. Our room was clean and spacious although we did not get clean towels all week. If you have mobility issues beware there is a lot of walking especially to the beach. All in all this is a very nice resort just a lot of walking.

Second time at the Grand Aston Las Brujas and surely not the last. The staff is very curteous and the rooms (always block 3 for me) is very well kept and extremely clean. The beds are comfortable. Food is good, drinks are amazing and coffee at the lobby bar is succulent. Strongly recommend this resort.

Public Area = clean Restrooms, never any TP - no lights during day so hard to see Buffet= better food we’ve had in Cuba A la cartes - French and Italian (very delicious) Pools = need more cleaning (only saw them vacuum once all week) Loved the lobby at night, fun atmosphère. Night time shows, ok. Participate nights need to be a bit more kid friendly. Micheal Jackson show was amazing! Bring lots of familiar snacks to fill the gap between meals. Food varies day to day in each area (beach, snack bar and buffet) so ask staff about options. Beach was good but go over to the far left past the lifeguard stand to get some nice soft sand with no seaweed or rocks. Sun is powerful, bring a hat and lots of sunscreen plus a bubba to keep your water bottles cold to stay hydrated. Rooms = had adjoining room, can easily hear your neighbour. Did not feel private and very disruptive during the evenings when others arrive late. You can hear everything in their bathroom, not pleasant. Thank goodness for nature soundtracks at night as sound barrier. Wifi= pretty decent, get hotel to connect you automatically so you don’t have to keep remembering the log in details. Always the same, will simplify reconnection. Have fun, overall nice resort. Staff are friendly, accommodating if you respect them. I don’t think I want to go that far again for a while but would recommend it if you like the area.

As a seasoned traveller to Cuba we knew what to expect when it came to the food and drinks. Small selection at the buffet with many ways of cooking the same foods every day but we always found something to eat and were pleasantly surprised with shrimp and lobster one day and bacon on some days. They also had all the condiments, ketchup, hot sauce and a few other options. Most drinks are Rum based and very little other options but always available along with beer and wine. Staff were always obliging when asked about drinks and may produce a bottle from under the bar if not on the shelf. The rooms were well maintained with comfortable beds and we had a beautiful ocean view from Building 9 .. also close to the walkway leading to the beach. The beach is excellent as is any beach in Cayo Santa Maria. However this bay which has 6 Resorts, I believe because it is calm and shallow allows for sea grass growth and lots of rocks, coral, stones in areas.. had to find the sandy areas in front of other resorts to enjoy swimming. However, snorkelling was a blast with all the fish life below and was lucky to actually encounter a stingray not far from the shore. Entertainment was fairly good considering it was non existent during the pandemic years. The Lobby was always busy with people and a good vibe, including a (fake) tattoo artist, guitarist / singer / saxophonist to sit back and enjoy the cool breezes and of a course a drink in hand ( they had a cocktail special each evening). Great pool which we stayed away from as it did get loud and noisy in the afternoons when the beaches were quite empty. ( The routine seems that people frequent the beach in the mornings and go to the pools in the afternoon). And of course, the Cuban staff.. always a joy to speak and interact with them as they try their very best to accommodate us as we try our best to give in kind what we can of our material world. As always, when asked about vacationing in Cuba, enjoy the moment of sun and brightness in this world unless you are happy with the cold overcast winter days in Canada!!

Grounds are well kept. Pool is amazing, Beach is well kept Lobby area is always hopping with entertainment. Enjoyed the a la carte restaurants. Variety of food choices at the buffet was a little lacking, but always found something to eat. Found the snack bar by the pool was a good option. Our room was exceptional and we had a great view of the ocean.Rooms are kept well cleaned.

The resort is very nice, beautiful large lobby area with a bar, nice swimming pool, amazing beach where you walk along for 2km. Rooms are clean and modern. Food mediocre, not a big selection and variety. General shortage of everything is visible. However, you don't go to Cuba for gourmet dining. You won't starve there. Public toilets in the resort are dirty.

This is our second time at this particular resort. The beach and protected bay are outstanding. Our room was ok, but starting to show signs of wear and tear. The buffet was good. No issues with any of the food. The staff are all amazing. Super helpful and friendly.

We loved the beach, the resort it self had a few issues public washrooms could use some work, needed to be up dated. The room was comfortable and clean. Great staff all very friendly, In the two weeks we spent with them they were painting and sprucing things up. We definitely would return.

First resort in Cuba that we will be back to. The beach was beautiful, the people will go out of their way to make you happy and the food at this resort is really good. Very clean resort too they are constantly cleaning. Definitely recommend

This resort is huge. A 1.1 km walk from lobby to the other end. First the negatives: the buffet was only so-so, a pipe broke and we were out of water for a day, occasionally ran out of beer at a certain bar (just went to another bar), music at the pool a little loud at times. 1.5 hour bus ride from the airport. Small inconveniences. On the plus side, the lobby was large and impressive. The pool was beautiful. Didn't stay in the Adult Zone this time, but their pool and separate snack bar would be great. The Fiesta Section looked over-the-top. French and Italian restaurants were delicious. Most amazing beach you'll find as the resort is on a peninsula and the water is completely still in the bay. We'd go back in a heart beat.

Grand Aston Cayo Los Brujas is a beautiful resort, filled with lots of fun activities and entertainment. We enjoyed the available water activities the resort offers. Services at the bars and restaurants are great, however there were a lot of restaurants that changed locations and we found out last minute. We did not have a good experience at the Cuban Restaraunt. Service was not so great as we waited for our table for a long time and was not greeted in a friendly manner. The food took a long time as well but the mains was delicious. On one of the days, water was not available throughout the resort except the lobby. If you need wifi in your rooms, expect little to no signal at all.

The Good -Awesome staff in the restaurants, buffet, and bars (avoid the main lobby bar though) -Hotel was nice, nice pool, and always something going on (poolside entertainment, evening musicians in the lobby, shows in the theatre) -Food – not as bad as I thought; enough selection and seasoned well; fresh fruit/veg (without stomach issues) -Wifi – the fact that we got some free wifi (4 hrs I think total) was great as we didn’t expect any and it was reasonably fast -There’s a tiny private beach right near the pool (through some trees), which was nice and quite with a few chairs and some decent snorkeling (bring your own gear) -Snack bar – it always had food and drinks available and friendly staff; the ham and cheese sandwich (a panini) was a good go-to; the fries were also pretty tasty (although most of the time served cold and ketchup was a hot commodity) The Bad -Not the cleanest – if you’re irked by unclean sheets, probably not the place for you. The blanket had a lot of stains on it and the deco pillows looked to have remnants of ‘fun’ (we avoided touching any of it) -They didn’t change the towels at all (even though some were clearly dirty), our housekeeper didn’t seem to care much unless we left money out (I thought you tipped after a good job, not before?) -Everyone smokes! As a non smoker this was annoying, even sitting at the beach, there didn’t seem to be much fresh air anywhere -The hotel still seems to be running at 75% capacity with a few areas shut down (we didn’t mind too much as the hotel seemed to be at 50% capacity guest-wise ,which was nice as it wasn’t so full) -The first 3 days we didn’t have any hot water in our shower (they apologized for having an issue at the time and delivered a bottle of rum to each of the rooms, not sure if that was a welcome gift or an apology gift, but hot water eventually returned, so it was okay) -Towels – towels were seldom available; get them and keep them for the duration of your stay (or do like we did and bring travel towels as backup which came in handy) -Availability of drinks was hit or miss; sometimes they’d have it sometimes they wouldn’t (different bars had different things and not always – even basic things like tea and pina coladas) General Advice -We seemed to be the only ones who didn’t get the memo to bring your own thermos/mug – everyone had insulated mugs (great for keeping your beverage cold, reducing waste, and getting a decent portion rather than having to go back to refill the tiny takeout cups) -We wish we brought Canadian (seems to be preferred over USD) -We tipped $1USD/drink and $2+USD/meal/pp which seemed on the high end compared to others (but I wouldn’t have changed that) -Cuba has had it rough over Covid (imagine most of the country’s economy and employment completely halted for several years); Inflation is way worse than in Canada and even if people have the money, stores are often bare, so consider bringing toiletries, medicine, toys, etc. as ‘tips’ for the people who really make your stay special

Liked the opportunity to book at the adults only portion of the resort. Closer to the beach and it had its own breakfast/lunch/snack building which was much closer than the buffet. Although I would have liked the option to upgrade further to the Fiesta building. The grounds were very pretty and well kept. The pool could have used a vacuum, but not terrible. The food at the buffet was limited and I found it could/should have been at a hotter temperature for items that were cooked. I felt the resort was in short supply of several everyday basic items, i.e., bottled water, napkins, bar supplies, etc. Being on an uninhabited island, I'm sure it's more difficult to keep everything needed in supply, global supply chain issues coupled with inflation contributed to their shortfall. All staff encountered were very friendly and hard working. The beach was wonderful with lots of chairs and space. Nice beach for a good walk too!

It was very hard to book reservations for the good restaurants, the buffet food was terrible, alcohol drink were not drinkable. Hot tubs weren’t hot they were pool temperature with no gets. Disappointed ☹️ ⭐️⭐️

Travel date: Dec 3 – 10 \ 2022 Airline: AirTranat : no problem, take off \ arrival on time. Cuban Airport \ Customs: no problem easy passage. Transfer via Bus Cuban Airport to Hotel: No problem, long ride approx. 1.5hours. Hotel Check-in: Easy no problem, minutes at counter. Hotel Lobby: excellent, very clean, welcome drink, bright roomy leads directly to lobby bar. Hotel is Family oriented. Hotel Room: I requested top floor \ King size bed. I got top floor but 2 single beds. Not a big problem. Room was perfect: AC no problem, water pressure no problem, very clean room with balcony view. Room has a small fridge filled daily with Bottle of water \ 2 cans of beer. Resort grounds: excellent very clean, staff maintained. Buffet: wide variety and selection. I was surprised and thanked them daily for the salad bar…Romain green leaf lettuce excellent. Cheese, tomatoes, Q-cumbers and plenty more. Chicken no problem grill, daily stir-fry, seafood. Core hot meals with Chicken, Pork, Beef and assorted vegies. No problem. 3 Al cart: French, Cuban, Italian. Only tried the French…NO PROBLEM. Drinks: Excellent Beer, Poor quality red wine. Spanish. Hotel was not at capacity. Plenty of seating available at Buffet. Buffet service: excellent no problem. Hint…sit near the front entry door breeze of fresh air, as rear of room is hot, and windows are closed. I am amazed as how people waste food, load their plates and end up eating only a portion and leaving the rest. Do you do this at home. Desert: excellent selection with 3 choices of ice-cream. Parents with children need to be more responsible for their kids who approach the desert table. Kids are kids, there is ice-cream all over the counter, floor and spoon being dropped as the kids help themselves. Parents do you allow your kids at home to waste food like this. Pools no problem excellent, plenty of chairs. Snack Bar: Limited eating items. Hamburger, Hot dog, ham – cheese sandwich. Hamburger was bad, no hot-dog left with sandwich only, excellent Beer good service. Beach: needs to be maintained has good potential, lots of seaweed, branches broken, walk down hundred yards to better ground keeping. Tipping: YES, show your appreciation for the service, the staff works very hard. Overall: Excellent, no problem, daily temperature plus 26 sun all day. No noticeable COVID restrictions. Some staff and tourist had masks. People in close distance.

Pros: Nice resort, modern, clean, staff was awesome, food was good we never went hungry. We stayed on the adult side which was nice and quiet and pool was clean. Cons: Beach was nice but....going into the water was not! It was not firm packed sand in the water you sink into the muck. The toilet in our room had a continually leak and every 15 sec. it would fill with a big gushing noise all day and night. After reporting it 3 or 4 times someone came to see it but only slowed it up so it gushed every 45 sec. The second day we were there we noticed water flowing by the building when we were on our balcony. Turns out there was a leak in the sewage tank from under our building. It was very smelly and it was never fixed.

The Hotel was very nice and not to big. The only negative thing i would is we were in Building 11 and all the even number rooms faced a septic run off and we could not open our door on nice breezy days The Food was very good and this was our 10th trip to Cuba

We got a great deal just before busy season, so it felt spacious and easy going. The hotel service was great, the staff work hard to please guests. The hotel itself is relatively new, the pool was enjoyable, and had a nice decor. The food was a highlight, being our favourite in all trips. The buffet was always well stocked and had staff to make sure portions were cleanly served. The quality was overall great considering they do have supply issues with things like condiments and a few items we might want to bring along on the trip. The snack bar was great between the buffet, But unfortunately the beach snack bar was usually lacking for food. There was a great bbq but wasn’t really bbqing meats, was more toasting bread for sandwiches..as my chicken was cold.... We essentially go to Cuba resorts to explore beaches and snorkel/ swim. Really gorgeous waterfront, and would return for the beach alone. It’s a different beach than santa maria, but still really enjoyable.

Would recommend without hesitation to stay at the Grand Aston Las Bruhas in Cuba. Beautiful grounds, food is good, workers are extremely helpful, room are clean and bright. Con was that there were sand flies, be sure to bring bug repellent. Flew with OWG, and took Select class option. Note that seats are really not comfortable but staff on flight are amazing. I would not recommend buying the ‘Sélect class’ option in Cuba coming back as it was not honored (no beer or wine and no blanket).

Don’t believe the bad reviews! This place is beautiful. Food was delicious, no matter how picky you are you will find plenty of choices. Public areas washrooms are really clean, our room was well taken care of every day. The isn’t much to complain about. People are really friendly over there. My only complaint is that my vacation there was way too short. Have fun and smile a lot!!! Special thanks to Cindy from Tripcentral, she made my booking a breeze and I received everything that I requested.

The Grand Aston was a great resort. We just came back and we were there on the off season. The staff were extremely nice and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The entertainment crew was great. We enjoyed watching the nightly shows and then hanging out with them every night until security shut down the party!

We were there in August and it was so good to be back at this hotel and Cuba’s amazing beach. Transfers to and from the hotel were great. Very quick check in and check out at front Desk. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The staff at the buffet very friendly, but I think they should do something about the flies around the food, it’s very bad. We just ate things that were cooked in front of us to make sure that it was safe to eat, we didn’t want to get sick, but there was always food to eat, you don’t go hungry. Beach was wonderful and beautiful. This second time at this hotel, we upgraded to the adults only fare and we were so glad, we got our own adult only pool, bar and snack bar, it was worth the money. We will be going back next year.

The night we arrive we found out that the shower drainage is clog so we ask to change our room right away. Cleaner took items in our new room, the reason was they thought it was a gift for them. Room are very outdated. Pillow covers smells like body odour. Condition yourself that you are there because of the beach not for food. Make sure to bring spray for mosquitos.

This is not a 4-star resort. ​The bathrooms in the lobby and by the Buffet do not​ ​look good. I recommend avoiding it. The rooms are kept clean, we missed the coffee maker (which we got after the intervention of a Sunwings representative). The choice of beverages is very limited to what Cubans can now offer. The food was also not the best, but we were not hungry. The snack bar was a "Joke"- terrible! Jazz Bar was unavailable - the only public place with air condition. Wifi is advertised everywhere, but is accessible only after 4 pm and not always working as it is supposed. We didn't use the pool so can't judge. The beach is a bit narrow and dirty (mainly, thanks to the people who use it), and be careful because there are a lot of broken shells and other crusty things that can hurt. The seabed slightly away from the shore is soft and silty. The service is amicable and nice(as always in Cuba). However, they don't speak much English or French. My opinion is based on the family section of the resort, not the adult section. The adult section seemed to be more interesting.

I travelled to Las Brujas from Montreal with Sunwing, on May 27th, 2022 for one (1) week with an 11 year old and two (2) other adults. We purchased the Elite Plus option (extra $200) and in-flight meals. Unfortunately, there was no “Fresh and flaky croissant”, it was a cold, hard and squished sandwich, I did not eat it and on the return flight exchanged it for another option. The 737 is advertised as having an in-flight entertainment, but it was not the case. In the email communications I received prior to my departure, I was informed that Pesos is the official currency in Cuba, however, no one wants Pesos and are requiring payment in US or CAD dollars. We are then stuck with the Pesos. Another email informed me to meet with the Sunwing rep the day after the arrival at 10 am – that was incorrect as well. Upon our arrival at the hotel, we received the room keys and towel vouchers. I asked for a map, but did not receive one. There were maps on the way to the beach but did not indicate our current location, so it was difficult to orient ourselves. The room key did not work the first three (3) times so I had to go back to the lobby to get this fixed. To get the towels, we needed to look for the person in charge to get them. To return the towels, it was the same situation and the person in the booth didn’t even have any vouchers to give us. It was just time wasteful and we had to go to the lobby to get this resolved to avoid the $25 US penalty per towel. Very few people spoke any English – ordering drinks or food was a hit & miss – we would sometimes get what we wanted and sometimes they would not bring what we ordered as they didn’t understand us. The resort was very, very dirty. The bathrooms were disgusting with dirty floors and toilets, some not flushing, some doors not closing, no light, smell of urine, etc. The lobby, the hallways, the pool area and the beach were also very disappointing. Plastic cups, cigarette butts, broken dishes, paper, spills, roaches/bugs etc. There was no AC in the lobby nor a closed off lounge to cool off although a Jazz Bar was advertised. There was an oversized chess game but with missing pieces to my son’s disappointment. The hotel advertises 24/7 WiFi but it’s not the case. It was available with a password, from 4 pm and only in the lobby if we were able to stay connected. With an 11 year old, on rainy days, and nothing else to do, internet was all we had – so that was falsely advertised as well. Even to do our check-in and check flight status, it was a challenge without the WiFi. Some staff drank on the job. One was flat out drunk and we could not finalise our A la carte restaurant reservations. When ordering two (2) beers, one mentioned something to the effect of “let me get you 3” and drank one himself. Some were trying to sell us Pesos for a rate 4-5 times more advantageous than at the airport, as they just want dollars. We took a taxi with to the neighbouring Ensenachos resort to compare (as we thought that this was representative of the situation in Cuba in general) - that resort was spotless, you could eat off the floor in the bathroom! The rooms were clean but we had no coffee machine as advertised. The bed sheets were smelly, as if they were left wet in the laundry for a while. The shower had no doors so all the water would flood the bathroom. The mini-bar was half empty. Although I knew the food reputation in Cuba, this was beyond belief! No peanut butter, no Nutella, no ketchup, no mayo, no salt, etc. The food was cold, tasteless and soggy (ex: eggs or vegetables). A la carte restaurants were good though so this saved us. Some drinks were not available: no orange or apple juice, no milk, no beer on the beach on some days, no tequila. The buffet was full of flies! They were on food, on the tables, everywhere! There was a snack bar with no menu so it was hard to know what was available. We went once: ordered some burgers that came after 20 minutes of waiting and one reminder. Unsure if it was meat or not but besides that on a bun, there was nothing else and the 5-6 fries on the plate. It was uneatable and we left it on the table. On the last day, I found pieces of stainless steel scrubber in my pasta. I showed it to the manager at the buffet. My mother had a piece of glass in her ice cream from possibly a chipped glass cup. The beach was dirty with cigarette butts, broken shells (I’ve cut my feet twice), plastic cups in the sand and water. I was picking them up constantly. Since there is no bathroom at the beach bar, people go in the water or the near by bushes (including the staff). You can smell urine when walking by the bushes. Music was very loud at both the beach and the pool area. I tested the decibels with my watch (it was around 90 which is way too high). Hard to have a conversation with that much noise or to even relax. Beach showers to rinse off were not working either. I initially wanted to leave early but since I did not want to pay extra, decided to wait it out. I spoke to the Sunwing rep, Delvis, about the situation and he was very helpful. He got the Manager involved, who was also very, very helpful. We did get extra à la carte reservations (except for Thursday) and we got the coffee machines. We declined the special dinner offered on Wednesday as the situation with the mosquitos was unbearable. However, these changes did not help the fact that we were stressed and frustrated with the situation and not enjoying the vacation. If this trip were $600, I would not say anything. But it was $1200 per person. The information on Sunwing website is incorrect and offers false advertising. “Pristine shore”, “white-sand shores”, “bowling”, “charming accommodations”, “stocked mini-bar”, “all drinks”, “10 restaurants”, “7 bars”, “24/7 free WiFi throughout resort”, “electric coffee maker”, “Jazz Bar/Coffee Shop”, As a traveller/tourist, I am unable to visit the resort before booking. I am counting on the website description to make my decision. Sunwing has the responsibility to provide accurate information to the clientele and not advertise/promise a pristine resort when they cannot deliver the goods. The whole week was a waste of money and time. We came back more tired than when we left.

Very relaxing resort. Beautiful beach, pools and weather. Escorted to room within about 5 minutes of arriving. Food very good. Entertainment team excellent....Yosvani, Jason and the rest of the guys. "Michael Jackson" rocked his show. Only downfall was the Snack Bar by the pool...usually out of what you ordered and very disorganized. Otherwise, would visit again anytime.

No toilet paper in the public restrooms, luckily our room was right by the pool so we could run up there to use the facilities. Sometimes had to steal toilet paper off the cart and put in our room as well they did not always replace even when we were down to the last part of the roll. No vodka on the resort, food was not great, main pool was green most of the week, we stayed in the adult section so we were ok, our pool was clear but did need to be cleaned. Resort was too far away from airport, 1.5 hours

Just returned from our holiday. Upgraded from garden view to club garden view, we were told we could have access to adults only and the snack bar. Asked for French fries but told not for a white wristband. Went to snack bar in family section and asked for French fries. Told none available but the Cuban visitors were served some. Pool in family section green and murky. Beach is far from family section. Limited drinks available. No vodka or tequila. Many many Cubans who stuffed their bags with food from buffet. Rooms were clean and bed was very comfy.

The hotel was beautifully maintained. Food options were some of the best I’ve had in Cuba. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Bar on the beach made the best drinks especially gin and tonic. I have one suggestion, reception staff should remind some guests about rules and regulations at the hotel. Sadly people who arrived to stay only for a weekend were loud even at late night and didn’t respect others Some tourists from outside Cuba said if it stays like this they will not return!

We (a group of six) just returned from a week at the Grand Aston. We thoroughly enjoyed it, and were made to feel SO welcome. It is a beautiful, modern resort with exceptionally pleasant, helpful staff, and some of the best food we have ever had in Cuba. We were very impressed with how careful the staff observed the necessary protocols. They were masked at all times, and did not hesitate to gently remind guests to put their masks on in indoor spaces. There were a number of hand sanitizing stations throughout the resort. The public washrooms were very clean, well supplied with toilet paper, and the liquid soap containers were always full. Our room was very nice.....I was sharing with a friend, and the room, initially, only had a double bed. I requested a second bed, and one was immediately moved in, and made up..... within minutes, and with no fuss at all. The bathrooms were clean, with great showers.....excellent water pressure, and lots of hot water. For the first couple of days, the resort was very quiet.....only about 150 guests. On the third day, a large number of Cuban families arrived, and the place really came to life !! It was lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves, especially the kids, but the music was just a little too loud, and the number of people at the buffet a little daunting, so for a very nominal amount we transferred to the much quieter adult only section (with adjacent ocean view rooms, which was lovely) for the last few days. This gave us much easier access to the beach, a large quiet pool, a great snack bar (which also served breakfast, lunch and dinner.) And a well stocked bar right beside the pool. This is a really nice resort......the beach is lovely, the ocean calm and clean (and quite shallow for quite a distance, which is great for small children), and we had a lovely holiday !

Well-maintained resort- nice beach, bars, great cappuccinos, lively and varied entertainment in lobby area as well as events in theatre. Good room services-- stocked fridges etc. Great Asian and Italian restaurants-- very good food/ white wine. Good wifi (1hr/adult/week free). Great customer service dept. Amazing staff/ great service in general. The week we went they were out of some items- like no shrimp/ ketchup was hard to find-- due to embargo. Best to bring hot sauce, ketchup, Nutella, peanut butter If you love that stuff. We always found stuff to eat- some days more variety than others. The buffet had enough stuff to eat but was repetitive at times during lunch and dinner. I would have liked more veggie options-- but again - embargo-related. The pasta station /stir fry station on few days didn't have too many ingredients but had them on other days. Had good desserts, breads, break fast items/drinks/ red wine/beer etc. Great fish on the grill. Again- this is Cuba and is all related to the embargo and expected when going to Cuba. The snack bar did run out of things on some days.. no pizza for most of the time. But food was good here liked the items on offer at the beach snack bar/pool snack bar. The beach had paddle boats/ catamarans/ kayaks etc.. easy to walk all the way past other resorts, great for snorkelling, abundance of sea shells for those beach combers, saw many starfish, fish, cormorants - had a blast on the beach. Can easily visit nearby markets. Good place for people with families/ as well as no kids. Had a great trip- great resort. There is a lot to do in nearby towns-- the restaurants in caibarian had great seafood- lobster/shrimp/ fish. Just keep in mind it is Cuba and go with an open mind.

This was a very clean,fairly new hotel.The staff was very friendly and were always there to help or assist customers, there are only two issues that I had ..1)the food was repetitive and the hotel was located at least one hour minimum from a village or town..however where the food is concerned I believe Cuba can only make do with what they have...so I give them a B+ For trying...location is location...nothing u can do about that..my vacation was great..relaxing..both guests and staff were friendly..I'll definitely go back🙂🙂

All around beautiful resort, the grounds are well taken care of, and the beach was fantastic. You always hear bad things about Cuban resort food but we had zero issues here, good quality and different dishes. Staff were pleasant and accommodating. Would highly recommend.

This was a last minute booking and we couldn't be happier. The resort was great. staff were very helpful. Amenities were great. Food was good. Beach is very nice. Rooms were very clean and quite large. Had an ocean view which was beautiful to wake up to. Would go again for sure.

My family and I recently returned from a one week stay at Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience. The grounds, rooms, and facilities were immaculate and stunning. Shout out to Tatyiana and Humberto for keeping our room so nice for us, and to all the gardeners who gave us fresh coconuts to drink from and who made beautiful toy grasshoppers for my son (talent!). The food was great - we especially enjoyed the French a la carte restaurant and the lunchtime poolside BBQ that took place each day. The beach was beautiful, and we had a great time taking a sailboat out one day with Pedro, and learning tennis with a professional tennis player! But our favourite thing to do was hang by the pool - the bartenders/servers were friendly and made delicious drinks. And, the entertainment team (Animacion) brought our experience to the next level - whether water aerobics or dance lessons, etc., we were always having fun! I must give an extra special shout out to David from Animacion who became like family to us while we were there. It was clear David works very hard to keep the guests happy, and he always took time out to come over and chat with us for a few minutes when he saw us. David even took the time to teach my four year old son, Isaiah, soccer and salsa. We've been home for over a week and Isaiah is still talking about David - the first thing he says when anyone asks about our trip to Cuba is "I made a friend named David". David, you are so special and we miss you! Thank you Grand Aston - we will be back!

Far from a good experience.Our room was good and the maid was very attentive.The food was the worse we have had at any hotel.Have been to Cuba many times .The staff were very polite but not properly trained.However front desk staff were very rude unlike the bar staff and food servers who were very good under difficult conditions.The pools and beach were very nice but we still will not return. victor and marguerite

Everything was great. Rooms were clean. Food was great never starved. Beach was amazing. Lots of places to go snorkelling. Staff very helpful. 24 hour snack bar was great. Will be going back to this resort again.

Had an amazing time at the Grand Aston hotel. Food was really good, especially at the a la cartes. Definitely the best I have ever eaten anywhere in Cuba. The pizza at the snack bar was great. The pool area was nice although I only went once. Beach was really nice and big with lots of activites, non motorized water sports, entertainment and great bartenders. The water is absolutely beautiful. Cant get enough of that gorgeous Ocean. I wish there was more than just one entrance to the beach but if you are staying close to the adults only side it is perfect. Hotel grounds were really nice for the most part. My only complaint would be that as you are walking to the beach there are a couple of areas with stagnant disgusting water. Im assuming that's why I got so many no see um bug bites. Make sure you bring bug spray. All in all had a great trip and would recommend to anyone who loves Cuba and loves swimming in the crystal clear Ocean. Stayed at Grand Aston. Resort is new and very clean. The food was the best food I have ever eaten in Cuba (3rd time to Cuba). The beach was amazing with beautiful blue waters. If you enjoy snorkeling, this was a great resort for that. Snack bar pizzas are delicious, as well as the ice cream. Lots to do - paddleboarding, sailing and kayaking included. Booked deep sea fishing and caught two barracuda! Buffets were also very tasty. Ocean view room is a definite must here. Lobby was beautiful, serving the best cappuccino on the whole resort. Would stay here again for sure. Stayed in building 10- close to the beach, a little bit of a walk to restaurants and pool. There are golf carts to pick you up if you dont want to walk to the main attractions. The only thing bad I have to say is that at the front desk they need a few more people to speak better english. Staff was amazing and very accommodating, even having someone pull out your chez lounge for you daily and sweeping it off! Beach bar is very close to the beach and drinks were very good. Would rate this hotel 4.5/5. A big thankyou to Linda at Trip Central for booking us such a beautiful vacation! A great week away!!

Our first time away, just us two, since our honeymoon 25 years ago, and it was spectacular! Clean comfortable Air conditioned rooms. We had nothing but friendly resort staff - always smiling and helpful -from the Chamber maids, shuttle drivers, front desk staff , waiters, bartenders, and grounds keepers ! These hard working folks made a point of getting to know you during the short 7 days and always made you feel as if they had known you forever! My one piece of constructive criticism was that our Sunwing representative was not as informative , nor friendly- he usually was scowling and didn't not communicate well - our questions when we tried to approach him 1:1 were met with silence, and then a few words, but certainly not friendly. As our orientation meeting was not until the next day, a hand out on arrival ( which was after 5 pm for us) with basic map, and info on where to find food, and from what time to what time, bank hours , and where, and even as simple as how to reach front lobby by phone ( which would have been helpful when we were at the farthest bungalow from the Lobby) . We managed tho and mainly it was due to very Friendly , helpful staff.

My family and I went to the Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas on January 11-January 21 and we did do VIP. I highly suggest it. In word word I would describe the vacation as fantastic. The resort staff have gone above and beyond our expectations, to accomadate all our needs and wishes. Some highlights of our trip include: The room: very beautiful, nicely cleaned and always well maintained. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was fantastic!! The grounds: very well maintained, there were beautiful gardens. The lobby was gorgeous, very spacious and beautifully decorated. VIP pool: fantastic pool, well maintained, staff working at the bar/snack bar were very friendly and accommodating. Food: food was quite tasteful, you’re always able to find something you like. Very good for people who enjoy fish. The snack bar had really good pizzas. Entertainment: staff did a great job with always providing good music and getting people dancing. There was also amazing shows and live bands/singers. Beach: the beach was beautiful, however my only issues were that there was not a separate section for VIP CLUB. There was a sign with “adults only” however there was no staff to control the amount of kids that did go in the section. Also advertised online it states there is a separate bar for the VIP Club, however. It was empty with no staff. Overall it was a fantastic vacation and I wouldn’t change it for the world. There are certain staff that made the experience worth wild. This included our lovely house keeper Hislajdi Grivas. Our waiter Rosmay Aranzola (he looks exactly like drake). The bartenders at the VIP pool Reidel, Rodriguez and Martinez. Lastly the lobby bar staff Miskely, Magdiel and Dianelys. They always had a smile on their faces and treated us like family. It was extremely special experience. I would definitely come back to this resort I have already recommended to all my friends. Thank you staff at Grand Aston hope to see you again in near future!!

The resort was lovely and mostly the staff are friendly. The guys at the pool bar are fun and entertaining with their bottle and glass tricks. The food was up and down. As most people know when visiting Cuba the food might be iffy. I can usual find something I like. Our biggest complaint is with the advertising of the resort. It tells you there are this many pools and bars for your use. When we arrived we were told that the Jazz Bar was permanently closed. In the advertising it states there is a whirlpool. The whirlpool is in the adult section where you are not permitted to be unless you paid to be there. We are down one pool and two bars. We had enough bars and pools without using the ones that weren't available to us but we object to the hotel advertising them as being available when they are not. Other then that we had a lovely time and would recommend the resort.

Wouldn’t recommend. Food options weren’t good, service was slow. Nice clean resort, grounds beautiful beach way too far. The locals were very friendly. Lots of dogs at the resort.. ants were terrible in the hotel room. 3/5 star

Very clean and well kept. Excellent entertainment every nite Lovely beach and pools .although it is a long ride from the airport about one and half hours, the buses are very nice. We will be back. We have already sent a couple there.
