Wonderful loved every moment!
Just got back from the Royalton Negril. Went with a gf and we just loved every minute of our stay and would go back in a heart beat. Would definitely recommend this resort. Had a long beautiful beach for walking. If you walk down he beach about 15 minutes there are local vendors selling tourist things to buy which is fun! We had Diamond Club and really enjoyed this feature. I read reviews where people said this wasn't worth it. We found it quite a nice treat and our butlers O'Shain and Daron went above and beyond. We had tons of beach towels placed in our room every evening, bottles of Prosecco, ice, meals brought to our lounge chairs, made dinner reservations for us...was a real treat! Wouldn't normally get or need something like this but our travel agent recommended it and it wasn't that much more and it was extremely nice to have (a great splurge and treat). We really enjoyed the Diamond Club pool, swim up bar and beach bar/restaurant. That is a really nice added bonus of DC. The additional pool and beach area and nice and quiet, provides an extra change of scenery than just access to the main pool. We loved sitting in this area during noon or later as the main pool like any resort gets loud and busy. Never had to worry about not enough beach chairs there is tons on the beach so don't need to save chairs. The main pool people did this. The beach is stunning. TONS of snorkelling. Was so happy about this! We really enjoyed all the restaurants. Great food! The buffet for lunch and dinner was ok. But the jerk hut and having the food truck are nice lunch options. Another perk of DC was the a la carte breakfast. We did this quite often and really loved it. Our server Do'Shane was so friendly and welcoming as was all the staff, a very welcoming and fun vibe! Breakfast was superb in the a la carte if you are DC (Diamond Club) and the buffet room. Great dinner options loved the Zen restaurant and the steakhouse. Enjoyed all our meals! Our Diamond Club room in building 5 was incredible. We had two balconies with a hot tub. We loved everything about our room and was one of the nicest rooms I have seen. The lobby of this hotel is gorgeous with so much seating available to enjoy a sunset in the evening. A shout out to Megon at the lobby bar she was fantastic! This resort also has a beautiful gift shop one of the nicest I've seen in the Caribbean. We enjoyed the nighty entertainment after dinner. I only have two small concerns, the Italian restaurant took a very long time to get our food so was a bit disappointed here and the pool hours are strict from 9-6. I love to have a morning swim around 7-8:30 am and have never been told I cannot swim in the pool in the morning so this was a bit hard for me. I am a morning person and love to relish in a morning dip before breakfast. They have lifeguards on duty starting at 9am which is great for safety but I would like the option to swim unattended before 9am. I could see if they were cleaning the pool at 7 or 8 am but this was not the case. Even then I have enjoyed a morning swim while staff vacuum the pool in the morning at other places. Last, it is quite a long shuttle ride (1.5-2 hours) so be prepared but once you get there it is so worth it! I would recommend this resort for so many reasons. Was extremely happy and am looking forward to trying more Royalton resorts. The staff, grounds/pools and restaurants were all amazing. Had a wonderful holiday! Will be back!

Great food and beach, but average customer service
The resort is great. Food was outstanding. If you are not a stickler for customer service, totally recommend the resort. The customer service overall was average, but the service at the bar on the pool was bad.

This resort was BOMB!!!
We had an absolutely amazing time at the Royalton Negril! The food was out of this world so many choices in the buffet! We loved hunter steakhouse! The pool and vibes team was always on point! Download the Royalton app, everything was seamless! Use the app to book Al a carte, room service and to make any requests! Mini fridge stocked daily, rooms were always clean with fresh towels! The pool bartenders always had my cup filled and everyone was so pleasant and cheerful! we will be back Negril!

Service at Royalton Negril: Disappointing in Some Areas
My stay at Royalton Negril was a mixed experience. While the resort itself is beautiful and some staff members are genuinely friendly and helpful, service inconsistencies and maintenance issues made the trip less enjoyable than expected. One of the biggest disappointments was the condition of the room. The shower was broken, and even when it worked, the water pressure was extremely low, making it frustrating to use. Despite reporting the issue, it took a long time for maintenance to respond, and even after they did, the problem wasn’t fully resolved. For a resort that markets itself as luxury, these types of basic issues shouldn’t be happening. Another downside was the service, which was slow and, at times, lacking altogether. Restaurants had long wait times, and drinks at the bar often took much longer than expected. While some staff members were great, a few were outright rude, which put a damper on the experience. That said, most employees were friendly, but they seemed overwhelmed, likely due to staffing shortages. The resort has potential, and the beach and pools are fantastic, but the combination of room maintenance issues, slow service, and occasional rude interactions made it hard to fully relax and enjoy the trip. If management focused more on staff training and resort upkeep, it could be a much better experience. Until then, I’d only recommend it to those who are patient and willing to overlook some major service flaws.

Fantastic resort for all ages!
Overall, loved the hotel. Staff are incredible, helpful and friendly. One even remembered me from a year and a half ago. There is something to do for all ages and the kids club and kids area is fantastic. The beach is beautiful with white sand and clear blue shallow water. Some of the rooms are a little tired but I imagine there will be some updating going on soon. Good variety of restaurants and overall the food is really good. You know you are at a great place when the first thing people ask you is how many times you have been there. Record we got was 13 years and running ! Highly recommend.

Resort grounds are beautiful but staff are next level.
First we checked in just after midnight and the room that was given to us is not an ocean view which was not what we paid for, they gave me a hard time to switch rooms for the next day they tried to push to change the room after 2 days. My husband and son got severe mosquito bites and the staff did not care. Just so much attitude from front desk staff especially the women’s. The buffet ran out of shrimps 3 days in a row I finally had it with one of the staff after complaining all of a sudden shrimps suddenly appeared. We had a family reunion party of 35+ they couldn’t accommodate us for a restaurant we had to Settled for Buffett dinner every night because the app NEVER worked. Then I finally got reservations at the Calypso restaurant 10 guest for 9pm, we didn’t getting serving plates for appetizers plus majority of the menu was not available we then ate past 10pm and while eating we see a cockroach crawling on the wall. The stuff was complaining how tired they were and wanted us out asap it literally ruined and ended our dinner. Our flight was delayed more then 6 hrs coming back to Toronto and I booked a courtesy room from 5pm-6pm and didn’t even get to use close to 5:40pm. The supervisor felt like she was doing us a favour supervisor to use the shower at the spa because the courtesy room was still being cleaned. The resort is very unorganized they tell you to speak with this supervisor and when you do she tells you something different from what the other staff has told you. Too much mixed communications being told. I got married at the Royalton in Trelawny and the were amazing but the Royalton Negril I would Never go back to nor recommend to anyone. Waste of money.

2nd time here!
We vacationed here in Feb 2023 and decided to do it again less kids.It was up to par again! The food is above average and i would insist on getting diamond club inclusive pool, bars and private beach. The rooms are very nice with ample size even the luxury jr we stayed in is more than enough for 2.We loved Tevin our bartender by the main lobby he got us drinks with the upgraded alcohol. This is the trick here at this resort(like many) you have to ASK for the upgraded alcohol or they give you generic.Note the bus ride from MO-Bay(Airport) is LONG...i suggest earlier flights to MO-Bay if your heading to Negril. Entertainment is varied, the Silent Disco and Michael Jackson Show are the two best imho.Ricks Cafe is a must if your doing an excursion i suggest taking cab ..the boat ride over sux getting in and out of there is BS...cab is WAY better. he will drop u off and pick up whenever u like we stayed 2 hrs. on 7 Mile Beach then he picked us up to go to Ricks for 2 hrs...it is quite pricy for drinks and food but hey it is what it is. The resort does ask you to do the loyalty program interview (basically time share) and they are persistent. We went to help out the employee and we ended up getting a beach dinner and spa for it! just say NO to the loyalty program its a waste of 2 hrs unless u want the spa and dinner lol. Tipping is a good idea but dont go overboard we tipped our cleaning lady everyday and our servers just give a little and u get alot! The Jamaican people are always nice and friendly and i would most definitely come back all Royaltons we went to are very nice from staff to the beach! No vendor problems and they are not pushy at all. We come back to Jamaica every yr the weather is always on par and what else do you really need its all here. The people the food the beaches,Reggae vibes, its just so chill no problem man! I suggest leaving on Tues/Wed if you can no lineups thru customs quite a breeze.

Best trip ever !
We were there as a group of 10 people from Jan 26 - Feb 2. The Weather, beaches, food, service, staff, entertainment & rooms were all fantastic. I didn't see any bugs anywhere, including mosquitos, sand fleas etc. I would recommend anyone to go there & consider this a 5 star & was probably our best trip ever !. We were not bombarded on the beach from vendors. If anything, we had to go looking on the beach to purchase souvenirs. The service was exceptional, they were even serving us drinks on the beach every day. Room service was also great. We would sometimes order breakfast evening before & they called 5 - 10 minutes in the morning before they brought it. We didn't have any complaints. We would go back there in a heartbeat !

Wonderful beach
The check in was quick and easy, we did not get the room we booked in building 3/ ocean view due to lack of inventory. But we were upgraded to a family suite with some ocean view . The food at the resort is good but not outstanding, very boring sometimes since you have same dishes again and again.. especially for lunch. The service is good , ala cart restaurant are ok nothing out of the blue. I have to mention few people that were outstanding with their service, Latouya, Shandol from Grazie!!! And Tevin at the bar on the main lobby they are at a different level. At the front desk I will mention Damian the supervisor, great to deal with. The resort appeared to be tired and needs some updating. The rooms, facilities, stairs..ect. One of the managers Fred, needs some courses of how to deal with issues ! He noticed us dining for breakfast at Grazie and came to the table to lecture us that we're doing wrong by having breakfast there, since we are not a Diamond club! And it's for Diamond only! He stopped us from dining and kept going on and on! As guests we didn't know that! And we expected a bit more respect.

Do not Go!!!!!
Horrible resort to say the least. Too many things to mention. Let me start by mentioning that we had diamond club which comes with early check-in but our check-in was delayed by 4 hours. Our room-service order was never delivered or delivered hours later resulting in us missing meals (restaurants closed) Housekeeping was disgusting, they left pools of water in the bathroom on which I slipped and almost fell (my husband caught me). Their restaurants never had what they offered in the menu (we always had to take the alternate option, they didn’t even have onions for the omelette!). The cherry on top of our disastrous stay was our check-out. Our shuttle was scheduled at 4:45 am and our pickup from the room to bring us to the main lobby was at 4:15. we were ready and waiting from 4:13 and when no one showed up until 4:25, I called the front desk and was told that someone was on their way to get us. We waited another 10 minutes and called the front desk by which time, they never answered. I kept calling until someone came around 5:05. As we were leaving the room, the phone rang and it was the shuttle bus driver calling me to tell me that I was late and he was going to leave me. I then started explaining to him that I didn’t have a ride to get to the bus and he told me that it was not his problem. I hung up on him and got in the tram with our luggage, the guy drove so fast, that one of our luggage fell off. The driver got excited and jammed the brakes so hard that all of us banged our knees so hard my daughter started crying. He picked up our baggage and took us to the lobby only to find that our shuttle had left. I was fuming by this time. It was already around 5:15. When I explained this to the front desk, the guy told me that I’ll have to take a taxi and pay for it!!!!!! Anyways, we made it home in disbelief and are still unable to get over our miserable experience.

Disappointing visit
The Royalton is a located in a beautiful part of Jamaica. This was our third visit and I have to say it was very disappointing. The hotel standards has definitely fallen. Having.paid for an ocean view, we were located next to the noisy hotel pool. We had to insist that we wanted another room. The service was slow, we had to make several calls to front desk to have our fridge refilled. Finally, we had to deal with a leaking AC, with water overflowing into our room. All in all not a good week. I didn't feel the offer of a bottle of wine as an apology was sufficient for all the inconvenience we dealt with. .

Great experience...
The hotel offers top tier food selections throughout the Day. Only thing they don't have is lobster. Ugh. Wish they did. Staff is helpful and calming. Especially if you have high anxiety. They make you feel right at home. Thanks to tripcentral and the suggestion made for this luxury resort. The entertainment is outstanding. As well it's location. Bloody bay beach. Overall a 8/10. I'd given them a 10 had they had lobster.

Would not return to this hotel!
I was not impressed by this resort at all considering it was supposed to be a 5 star, it really wasn’t. More like a 3 1/2 star, the grounds were not well kept, very dirty, run down rooms. Service was poor u less you tipped well. They were always missing beach towels every day and sometime room towels. The beach was nice but not well kept as there was a lot of sea weed due to storm, but they didn’t remove the seaweed or all the garbage that was left on beach chairs. Overall it was an okay stay but I would not recommend nor would I return to this hotel!

Great resort!
Big resort with lots of options for beach, food, rooms and entertainment. Rooms and entire resort are very clean - rooms cleaned daily. Overall service was great with fast turnaround times. Food was good - however, the Jamaican options at the buffet were great. Only complaints would be kids pool and the al a carte restaurants. A la cartes - Tex Mex and Calypso was extremely slow. Kids pool - water was cold and the big bucket that drops water was too aggresive and loud for our kids (4 and 6).

Terrible Experience
2/10 Our experience from our first day to last was a nightmare at the resort. Upon arrival, things began to go wrong, and something didn’t seem right. On day one, when checking in, no one knew that a crib was needed for the room even though the request was made months in advance. It took until the middle of the night to receive a crib and the baby was already sleeping. When arriving, (and each and every day after), the fridge in the room was always empty and it always felt like we were bothering someone to ask for clean towels or water bottles for the baby. On day two, (we had the swim out room and our baby enjoyed it), until noticing that the tiles were falling off and cement debris was floating around us. Not sanitary. At the pool bar, as well as the other bars, everyone seemed to ignore the guests even though the bar was not busy. It took forever to get drinks and they were subpar. On day three the true nightmare began. My wife was breastfeeding our baby in the room when she noticed cockroaches climbing into her luggage and another into the baby’s crib. At that point, I realized that this hotel is dirty and unsanitary. Upon telling this to someone at the lobby, they brushed it off. When my wife started crying hysterically the manager came and offered us a new room along with a day in a cabana. In the new SECOND room, I saw ANOTHER cockroach. The fact that they were in two rooms makes it very clear that this is a dirty hotel. My baby could have gotten extremely sick. At this point, I was over this vacation and made such my luggage’s were always locked. I was paranoid the entire rest of the vacation and coming home was a stressful experience of cleaning and making sure no cockroaches entered my home back in Canada. The remaining days did not scream a 5-star experience. The buffet always ran out of food 1-2 hours after opening for lunch or dinner on a daily basis. On the last day, there was no bell boy to bring our bags to the front and no food for the 2-hour bus ride back to the airport since prior to 7 am no services are available. When my wife asked at 6:55 am for a piece of bread for our 10-month-old baby for the bus ride, the workers were rude and denied entry to my wife. Workers constantly complained about working there to the guests. Many workers verbally expressed their want to quit Royalton and work for the RIU since meals were not provided for them at the Royalton for free. They did not feel valued and verbally expressed it. I can understand their frustration. Their disappointment in the working conditions is rubbing off on the guests and everyone is frustrated. Nothing about this resort was a 5-star experience. This hotel is going downhill fast and everyone from the guests to the workers notice it and verbally express it. Paying for a 5-star experience and receiving at best a 3-star hotel is false advertisement. I am going back to work not relaxed and frustrated with what my family has experienced. I will never again choose a Royalton property and will not recommend it to my friends and family. The ONLY amazing part was the beach. Beautiful water.

Excellent Place to Relax
The hotel was clean, nice spacious rooms, very friendly staff and well maintained. However, it’s also 2 hours away from the airport which makes the journey very long. Service was excellent but would have preferred more fresh tropical fruits and fresh fruit & vegetable juices. I would recommend this hotel if the additional 2 hour bus journey to the hotel is tolerable.

Very Good Resort
We stayed at the Royalton "Diamond Club". First of all the staff was all extremely friendly and were always happy and smiling. Rooms - We were fortunate to stay in the terrace suite with a huge private terrace overlooking the ocean. This room was great. We had a chance to look at the other rooms and they were all very nice. Note: there are a;pt of swim out rooms however the swim out pools are not heated. We travelled at the end of January and didn't see one person in their swim out pool all week. Food - the buffet was very good, lots of choices. We visited all of the ala carte's. The food was good but not spectacular. Overall an 8/10. We did eat at the Ocean Point restaurant. The food was great and you could watch the sunset. Beach - the beach was excellent. Turquoise water, soft sand and very clean. The Royalton is on Bloody Bay Beach (approximately 3 km long) so very nice for a morning walk. There are other resorts you walk by as well as local shops, so it was a great walk. Note: it is approximately a 5 minute walk from the resort to seven mile beach. We made the walk and then walked all of seven mile beach. It is virtually the same as Bloody Bay beach just a little longer. And Marguarettaville is on seven mile beach Pools - there is a pool for Diamond Club and a pool for non Diamond Club. Both pools are about the same size. The pools are not huge but they were never overcrowded. Ample chairs and loungers at both pools and the beach. Entertainment - the vibe crew curing the day was ok, nothing special. The entertainment at night was also ok but we have seen much better. Hideaway section - this is an adults only area. Very much the same as the rest of the resort but "adults only" There weren't alot of children at the resort so nothing to be worried about. Sunset - Unfortunately due to the positioning of the resort on Bloody Bay you do not see the sunset, However you can walk to the point and watch the sunset Safety - The resort and beach was extremely safe, absolutely no concerns at all. As mentioned we also walked seven mile beach and had no concern with safety. Vendors = Yes there was vendors but they were not pushy at all. Yes they asked if you wanted to buy "gonja" but if you said no thanks they did not bother you. Also as you walk by their little huts/shops they asked you to come in and have a look but were not pushy at all. Overall - this resort was very nice and you certainly will enjoy it. Not overly exciting or spectacular but very nice to relax and enjoy the pool/beach/weather, 7.5 out of 10 Note: Make sure you go to Rick's cafe. You can go on a boat, catamaran or taxi. It is 100% worth the trip. We went twice it was so much fun.

Resort location is great, the beach and ocean are amazing. However, the food was disappointed. Lack of selection and they don’t serve much fruits and desserts. The room has the mold and pee smell. We were upgraded to diamond club but it was not worth for the money that we spent. Our butler was not great. Every morning around 9 am (some days even before 9 am) sent us a message to ask how we doing. Well.., we don’t know because we still in bed. Overall I will rate 3 stars and will not go back.

Decent resort
Had a great time at this hotel - the food was excellent and the beaches and the staff were fantastic. Cons: Usually, 1-5 things may be wrong with your room. The bathroom door didn't lock, the outlets didn't work, and in my parent's room they were missing items such as an iron and bar restocks. Maintenance is definitely required on items but overall the room was clean and comfy. Besides the Japanese restaurant Zen - all other restaurants are "show up and hope for the best" so there are times where you may be eating earlier or later then expected, depending on what time you usually eat. They do give priority to whoever has Diamond Club so that's something else to think about. Overall a great time at Royalton and would definitely try Royalton elsewhere in the Carribean.

Jamaica Royalton Negril Dec 23-30, 2020
Air Canada Rouge didn't have my Aeroplan # so they didn't know I am Elite for Life and a Million Miler so had seats at the back of the bus (after considerable effort finding seats together thru check in). We arrived on schedule yet took an hour to get through airport. We sat for another 45 min on the bus while we waited for smokers to finish their cigarettes! We got to the Royalton four hours after landing in Montego Bay!! (this was the same Time it took to fly!) Took a long time to check in. We liked our room when we finally got there and hotel scenery was very nice. Problems really weren't noticeable until we tried to get water in the morning since there was nothing in our room/bar fridge. At 7am, I called room service but no one answered. I made the long trek to the front lobby as a security guard said they have water. Not true, and front desk called room service but still no answer. I was also not impressed that we had to line up to make dinner reservations each day at 9am. Lineup to breakfast buffet was 30 min and then once in the food area, lineups everywhere since no food was out on display (no buffets). It really tested your patience. The service in this hotel was really bad everywhere. But worst of all, the food quality in most restaurants was really poor. I have stayed in many all-inclusive properties (Paridiso was booked in 2019 for our group of 7 in the DR and it far outweighed the food experience with my girlfriend (GF) at the Royalton). I want to believe the quality was poor due to covid19 but why? Service being poor makes more sense since they were understaffed and only 58% occupied according to the customer service manager. I would like to write to The Royalton about our experience to see if they would offer us anything as we want to return- this time to The Grand Lido in Negril on our next vacation (after Covid). We know a number of restaurants were closed and we think it may be a different experience next time. I want to give them another chance as my GF stayed there many years ago and was recently at the Royalton White Sands with her mother and kids last March just prior to the lockdown. She was pleased with the food on that trip so she too was disappointed with the quality of the food and the very slow service in almost everywhere we went at the Royalton Negril. We also didn't sleep past 7am each day as someone outside our room would start talking and laughing everyday once the sun rose up. I think it may have been a security guard a few floors down near the pool. Very annoying when you are on vacation!!! Do you recommend we write to the hotel? If so, would you have a specific address? thank you, Scott Rogers

Royalton Negril Review
My family (two parents two kids ages 10 and 12) stayed at the Royalton Negril this February 2020. Very nice resort, great food, great beach, wonderful staff. The vibe team(entertainment crew) and fitness staff made this resort very memorable for all the right reasons. We stayed in the diamond club section, which allows access to a quieter end of the resort, although there are still daily beach activities with the entertainment crew. If you are looking for absolute quiet, this resort is full of energy during the day and may not be for you. If you are looking to have the kids entertained, while you read a great book on the beach, then this is the spot.

Royalton Negril
The Royalton is a beautiful hotel, with great amenities for all types of vacations. The beach is charming and safe. The rooms are large and convenient to the pools and beach. There are fabulous views of the beach from most rooms. There are several restaurant choices. Their menus provide a variety of food choices. We found that it was difficult to get food that was "hot". Most meals were barely warm at best. We enjoyed our vacation and would return. Next time, we would hire a car to go to the hotel, because the shuttle bus stopped at to many hotels, causing the 1 1/4 hour commute to be 3 1/2 hours. Far to long.

WONT GO BACK
This resort is not worth the money they charge. The rooms are beautiful and so it the beach. The food isn't great not a lot of heathy options for the kids and lots of processed food. There is not services and tips are expected. We had to tip the guy on the beach everyday just to get a chair and we had paid the extra for diamond club. Even with diamond club if you want a cabana it will cost you a minimum of 80 USD up to 160 USD depending if you would like food and drinks in you cabana per day. There are people in the diamond club section that have just the standard bracelets. The services is poor to non existent. Their time share people will harass you everyday. They wait at the bottom of the building at breakfast time and dinner time and the bottom of the escalators and will try to convince you to go their breakfast and their presentation. When you tell them your not interested they will follow you to where ever you are going and continue with their speech. Don't go! Other people staying at the resort warned us, high pressure sales and they will eat up a whole day of your time. We had paid extra for a butler we saw him the first day and never say him again the whole week. I have stayed at other resorts in the same price point and gotten much better services. it is really to bad because it is a beautiful resort and a beautiful beach but make not mistake it is not close to all inclusive.

Beautiful resort
Upon arrival we were greeted by Madonna who helped with a very easy checkin then escorted us to our room for the week, it was very elegant and we were so happy to see where we would spend our week, the view was incredible! Madonna checked on us a couple of times during the week, she was very helpful and friendly. The restaurants were fantastic especially enjoyed Ocean Pointe, what a view! There we met the friendliest waitress Shimma, she went above & beyond our expectations to be friendly and talked about the island and Jamaica, our last night the restaurant was closed but she came to see us at the sunset and helped take our picture in this beautiful place. We again had the pleasure of the talking to Shimma at the Dorado restaurant where I had the best lamb chops ever, my husband had the lobster bisque and shrimp fettuccine and Shimma took such good care of us. We also had the pleasure of the best maid service at any hotel, her name was Patricia, extremely friendly and such a good and efficient maid service. We enjoyed talking to her and looked forward to running into her daily. We went twice to see the entertainment shows Michael Jackson & Reggae night and enjoyed the shows very much. Overall very impressed with the Hideaway resort and look forward to returning again in the near future.

Wonderful Family Trip
We stayed as a family of 9 with 4 separate rooms. We decided to pick all Diamond Club and I believe it was worth the extra cost. Our Butler team of Denesha and Damion were fantastic and multiple times went that extra little bit to help make our trip wonderful. We had issues with lights in one of our rooms for the first 2 days, and after a few maintenance trips it was resolved - they were always quick to come look when I called about it. Denesha took care of booking dinner for all of us every night and both of them helped get the kids whatever they wanted for lunch, despite where we ate. The restaurant staff was mostly great, with a few exceptions around speed of service and one or two who just didn't seem to want to be there. My biggest disappointment was the kids club (broken air hockey and limited toys) and that Max and Ruby weren't around as advertised and my kids were told "they went on a long vacation". One more set of problems I had was that the Diamond Club swim up bar had speakers, but was never playing any music and I was told they don't work plus a few times it ran out of a certain alcohol and they either said sorry no more or someone had to go get some (and only got some in a small cup for 1 or 2 servings). My final issue was some ceiling damage that was flaking down the whole time over top of one of the pull out beds. I didn't notice this until the last day, but my kid told me it happened the whole time (I didn't report it until check out as I didn't know) so I can't say if they would've fixed it or not. All my issues aside, we had a great family trip. The food was spectacular (no ribs the whole time made some of us sad) and the place was well kept generally. The staff always greeted people and some stopped to talk to us and the kids. We had a few team members who were exceptional, especially with the kids.

Lower your standards for service
The good- Rooms were great. Resort is clean modern and beautiful. Beach is beautiful. Food is good for the most part. The bad- Resort is smaller than we are used to. There is only one small pool that we have access to. You must upgrade to diamond club to get full 5 star experience. The service was the worst I have ever experienced from all of my vacation experiences. You will be offered drugs at some point during vacation. People smoke marijuana all over the place. You can smell it. I will not be returning. There are way too many better options out there that offer much more for less. This was an expensive vacation and we could have had a better time somewhere else for half the price.

Beautiful Location & People!
This is the first time we stayed at a Royalton resort, and we didn’t want to go home! This resort is breathtaking and we’d go back again. Spacious junior suite with comfortable king bed and spacious shower, and latest technology. We celebrated our 30th anniversary so they upgraded us to a swim up room. Pleasing pool, with lots of lounge chairs and cabanas. Get there early to reserve your space! Seven restaurants on-site, although we only had time to visit Grazie Italian, Armadillo Tex-Mex, Hunters Steak House, Gourmet Marche, and Score Sports Bar. Good portions for all meals with great presentation. Nightly entertainment including Jamaica night, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson tribute, Beauty and Beast, and Steel Drums. As our plane was not leaving till end of day, they checked us out (still use facilities), stored our luggage, and provided us a courtesy room to shower/change later in day before leaving for airport…..this was nice! Jamaican people are very friendly and work hard to please. Whenever we saw someone going above and beyond we tipped. Tasmin from Sunwing/Nexus was a big help and available throughout the day to answer any questions we needed and to arrange excursions. Yah Mon! We loved Jamaica. Irie. You can’t go wrong with Royalton!

Amazing resort!
The Royalton Negril is a wonderful resort. My mom and I went there for a week to relax. The service was great, and so was the food! We stayed in Block 6 room 6018, and it smelt a bit musty in the room, but that's to be expected due to the humidity. It was also to the side of the mainstage, so you could hear the performances that start at 9pm every night, so be aware of this if you book in this Block. The room was clean, and so were the grounds. The beach was great too. They do rope off the area you can swim, and I wish it went out a bit further, but nothing to do about that. The only thing I could say is that they didn't seem to have a lot of snorkel gear on hand, as it is free for everyone to use, but once it's loaned out, there's no guarantee of when it will be returned so, it would be better to have more on-hand. Overall, it was a great place to stay and I recommend it!

Worst service level - Total waste of money
Let me start with the good points - Royalton Negril has best views swimming pool is facing the carribean sea. That’s the only good point. Service level of the hotel is the worst I have ever seen. We have been going to carribean for last 10 years. Rooms are very outdated. Food is below five star level. Two days in a row we got rotten pasta from Buffett. Waiters and staff are rude and very lazy. Their Al-Carte restaurants are very dirty table mats are filled with stains. And food is worst their. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.

Some growing pains
A new resort that has some problems with communication - but make a good attempt to resolve issues. Staff were the friendliest that we have encountered and food was excellent. Issues arose around promotions on the hotel TV that staff were unaware of, difficulty booking large group for dinner, special services, loungers reserved and cabana rentals.

Beautiful resort, lovely beach
The hotel was beautiful, the food was very good and the beaches are the nicest we've been to in Jamaica. We spent a day at 7 Mile Beach and the beach at the Royalton Negril is just as nice. We've also been to Ocho Rios and Montego Bay and the beaches here are the nicest we've encountered in Jamaica. The resort was very busy since it was March break but the staff and butlers will "reserve" chairs for you for a tip $$$ - not sure if that's a good thing or bad. It is unfortunate that many chairs sat claimed by a book or magazine for the entire day. The food was very good at the restaurants, at the buffet it was just okay. (We've also been to the Royalton White Sands and found the food to be better there) Our favourite restaurant was Calypso the West Indian restaurant. The jerk hut, food truck and various beach bars to eat at provided lots of good options if you didn't want to get changed and go inside for lunch at the buffet or the Italian restaurant. Overall an excellent vacation - we reserved two excursions through our Butler (I would suggest upgrading to Diamond Club) and had a great time on both. We did 7 Mile Beach, downtown Negril for a Juici Patty run, and Rick's Cafe one day. We also did YS Falls, Blackriver Safari and Pelican Bar on our other excursion. Make sure to bring cash on excursions, many places do not accept credit card.

Hard to find fault!
Had a swim out room on an end unit near the pool and beach and close to restaurants. The buffet is excellent. We particularly liked the Grazio restaurant near the pool. The only restaurant (other than buffet and fast food at the pool) that is open for lunch or quite good take out pizza. Other restaurants we rate as good. Restaurant, bar and housekeeping staff all very helpful and friendly. The front desk and guest services staff seemed a little officious and arrogant at times. Rooms are well equipped - it's only two years old so time will tell how well they keep up the maintenance. It's a two hour bus ride from airport so "location" scores low.

Nice resort but service needs to be improved
fairly new resort with great facilities nice pool but mediocre beach service is not comparable to Mexico and Dominican Republic, probably due to local culture, so don't set your exception too high rented Cabana but was very disappointed by the service as the cooler did not arrive until afternoon and they took it away earlier than supposed to. food at the buffet is good but do not expect much from the restaurants, food truck and jerk bbq station by the pool are decent.

A rare gem that has it all ..if Hip-hop and Rap were banned
This was our 3rd visit to Jamaica and the first in Negril. The reviews for Royalton Negril met our expectations for price, beach, hotel and room comfort & upkeep, food and service. For the first time in a decade we were not disappointed with any of the above! We had finally found a beach resort with genuine white sand stone free beach with pretty good snorkeling stretch along the rock face north of the beach. For a little more peace and quiet try the adjacent Royalton Hideaway BUT you won't completely escape the hideous Rap and Hip hop noise! Pros: 1. Price was most competitive of the mid-luxury resorts and gave you better value. 2. Speedy reception which actually commenced while on the bus ride to the resort! 3. Great hotel with a fantastic panoramic view of the bay from the huge lounge area on the 1st level. 4. Food is excellent no matter where you go.No reservation is required for the restaurants with exception of Zen (Japanese). Resort even has a Sports bar that serves Pub style food! 5. Our room on level 2 was large, modern and clean with comfortable beds, a Jacuzzi bath and a fantastic view of the bay! 6. White sand beach along the entire bay. Swim all day - No low tide effect - absolute heaven!! 7. Nexus Tours at the Hotel also does Scuba excursions from the hotel. Although I hope they improve the diving experience with seasoned dive masters. 8. Front desk and customer service was great. 9. My sincere thanks to David (Hideaway Front desk), Madonna (Guest Services), Keisha (Travel Smart) and Oraldo the singing cowboy (Buffet) who in their own way made our stay even better! The staff at all of the restaurants were friendly and always helpful. Cons: Not much was lacking at this resort apart from.. 1. One and a half hour ride to the resort (but worth the travel)! 2. My biggest biff? Gangsta Hip hop and rap music which seemed to make the place cheap and nasty whenever it was being blasted out for long lengths of time from the pool and beach areas!! made us want to take off from the resort. 3. I could not understand why there was VERY little, if any, Reggae or Latin American music both of which genres are well enjoyed by ALL ages!! ....

Well worth it....
Spent 2 weeks (Nov 04-18) at the Royalton for my 50th birthday. What can be said that hasn't been said already? Fantastic resort and the people go out of their way to make sure you're happy. Good snorkelling right off the beach. Saw turtles, Sting rays and Octopi, Squids. All within the buoy line. Great food at all the restaurants, but for some reason my wife and I didn't like Armadillo (tex mex). Everything seemed like it was microwaved and sauce put on top. Best restaurant was Grazie. Oven baked pizza and good pasta and risotto. You have to wait a bit longer to get your food but they're making it fresh. Make sure you got to the buffet on Mondays for Jamaican night. Food was to die for, especially the lobster tails. Night time entertainment was fun. Beach party on Wednesdays and the Michael Jackson show was great!. Our room location was wasn't the best. We were in Block 7, which is connected to the main lobby above. This location is convenient because it's connected to most everything. If it's raining you don't need to walk outside to eat. You can get to all the restaurants/buffet, and the lounge by going down the elevator. The problem with block 7 is that it faces the bandstand and after the night show they blast music until 1-2am. Good thing i brought my earplugs but if you're a light sleeper this block might not be best for you. Block 3 is the quietest at night (not during the day, it faces the kids/adult pool) but you have to walk to get to everything except for the Grazie restaurant. it's attached to Block 3 One more slight annoyance was the maid service/turn down service. At the latter end of our trip the maid seemed to arrive at the room very late in the afternoon (4pm). We had to turn her away a couple of times because we were getting back from the beach and she was showing up at that time. Also turn down service once came at 10pm. The people are what makes this place special. They work so hard to make things right and I'm sure they're under appreciated for the work that they do. Special thanks goes to Oraldo in the Buffet who made my birthday extra special, Alison, Shanika and Shakila. These 3 ladies made lemonade out of a messed up Birthday dinner. I can't thank them enough for making my night memorable (thanks for the belly laughs Shanika). Our experience there was a memorable one. Will definitely be returning.

Beautiful resort & Beach, weak service, below average food
Overall: Royalton Negril is a beautiful place. Walking around, you can truly feel that you are in a luxury resort. Great interior design, quality furniture and décor. The resort is also not very large so its pretty easy to get around. There aren't too many bars open during the day so you would sometimes have to walk a bit to get a drink. There is 1 swimming pool, and 1 splash pad (which is really great for kids), a kids club and a separate teen club. There is also a gym and a spa but I haven't used these services. Where the resort is lacking, is consistent quality service. The hotel staff is always polite and some really care about your vacation experience. At the same time, I was often faced with blunt indifference which considerably ruined our stay. I arrived with my elderly mother and 2 little children (3 and 1 year old). After a very long and difficult road, I was told that our room was supposed to be in front of the evening show area which, of course, is not the ideal when traveling with small children that go to bed early. So I decided to upgrade our room to a more quiet area and a swim up suite. I confirmed with the girl at the reception that we needed a room with 2 beds - no problem! except when we arrived to the room there was only 1 bed and a pull out couch (but I'll get to this in a minute). While still at the reception, I asked for a quick explanation and introduction of the resort, available amenities, restaurants, kids options etc. I was told that the bell boy will explain everything in the room. When we did get to the room, the bell boy said that the information is on their smart TV, which consisted of scanned brochures with lots of small print. It seems that what is a basic service in the most simple hotels, is not available here. you are sent to read brochures on the TV. While its not a big deal, it was the first sign of the kind of service that we will be getting. The room- The room was a beautiful unit with a swim up pool and ocean view. But it only had 1 bed. I completely understand when I book the trip, the hotel may not be able to accommodate everyone's room requests. But when on premises, paying for an upgrade, I would imagine that the reception staff should know that the room they are sending you to, has only 1 bed. My mom slept on the pull out, the kids on the King size bed and I slept perpendicular to them at their feet, with my feet hanging off the bed. Definitely not the luxury experience that I was expecting. I was told that they will have another room available for me the next day. The room change can only happen between 2:30-3 PM which is right in the middle of my kids naps, so they didn't nap or eat as we packed to move rooms. When I arrived at the reception, I was told that they were putting me back in the activity area which wouldn't have worked for us. Afterall, I upgraded the room to get a quieter place. so one more terrible night at the same room. Next day, the kids again, didn't nap or eat lunch while I dealt with the rooms. While trying to make arrangements, I was bounced from one person to the next at least 4 times. each time I had to explain the situation to a new person, and there was a general feeling that I was inconveniencing them. with the kids crying in the room, the lack of care from the staff, I hate to admit that I broke down crying at the reception. To which I was told - not to cry as I got the room I wanted. The lack of empathy was staggering. The new room was great, it had 2 beds, a jet-tub, and had a swim up pool. Most importantly, it was in a quiet are of the hotel (building#2) and had a beautiful ocean view. At that point, we were on our third day and I was so frustrated with the room experience, several issues at the buffet service and room service. It really felt that we had challenges Every step of the way. I started looking into trip interruption and returning home before the end of our scheduled trip. My husband, ended up convincing me to stay, as the room situation has been resolved and maybe things will start looking up. l learned to expect that everything takes a while. Room service often took over an hr after I put in the order so I started having scheduled deliveries. I got to know the better servers at the buffet so I chose where we sat accordingly. And while we still had some ups and downs, our experience improved. Room Service: Has great breakfast options but not so much for lunch, dinner or midnight snack. we ordered some food the night we arrived, the burger bread came wet, the fries were chewy and the ham and cheese sandwich was cold and dry. So I never ordered dinner from room service anymore. If we needed, one of us went to the buffet and got some food for the other person. after the first few nights, I started ordering nightly scheduled milk for the babies and breakfast for them. the service was always on time which was great. The only down side was that while I always asked for them not to call the room in the middle of the night before they make a delivery and for the delivery person to knock quietly. It was often followed but not always and woke up the kids several times. Food: Food was fresh, and was overall fine. Not much variety though, I'd say comparable to Cuba. Bar service: The bartenders were always nice and friendly. Housekeeping: Did an overall good job. Sometimes will leave us with 2 towels instead of 4, but they would bring more if asked. It would often take a few hours, but we got our towels eventually. The great thing about our room location that it was very close to the beach towel station so we took towels from there if we needed extra. One day my son peed the bed and I called to ask for the bed to be changed. after a while of no one coming, I called the operator again at around 5 pm and asked that they change the bed by 6:30 PM as the kids go to bed after. luckily, we ended up staying for a bit of the show as it was playing earlier that day, and we got to the room by 8- 8:30 PM. The staff was just in the middle of changing the bed. When we expressed our surprised that it wasn't done, the response was - "well, im here now". This is the kind of approach we saw often. no empathy, no care, more like - here's your solution, what else do you want. Robbery: I accidentally left my kids bagpack in the coffee shop by the reception for about 15 minutes, when I came back the bagpack was there, but the money was gone - about 7 dollars in tip money. Not a big financial loss, and at this point we just laughed at it because of everything else that's been going on. On a different occasion I also had my phone in an open pocket in the stroller, when I noticed someone standing by the stroller - strangely, right in the middle of the pathway- looking in the direction of the phone. they left after I picked up the phone from the stroller. so keep an eye mon your things. There were many more smaller "mishaps", which wouldn't make a dent if there weren't so many of them. The Good: Not everything was bad. The food station by the pool was really great - Good service and tasty jerk chicken. the food at the buffet was pretty tasty although it was the same thing daily with not much veriety. The babysitters at the kids club were amazing. I left my kids with a babysitter for an hour and they had so much fun. The phone operators were always polite, caring even went an extra mile to help us get diapers from the city. there were 2 operators for the room service and one of them was always super friendly, remembered my orders and requests not to call the room in the middle of the night. There was a lot of security staff at the resort (day and night) which made us feel safe regardless of the $7 robbery. everyone always smiled as they passed you in the resort. The swimming pools were beautiful and always clean. people seemed to be engaged with the activities, and looked like they were having fun. I didn't take part as we were mostly at the beach. The beach: Had some seaweed, but overall, warm clean water. The sand was soft, white and amazingly warm. In summary, I have been to many different Caribbean resorts of all levels - from 3 star Cuban resort, to an extra luxury 5 star mexico resort. The service here was by far the worst. I still feel stressed thinking about our vacation. It will probably be a few years before I go to Jamaica again but definitely not returning to Royalton. The trip was not worth it for me.

Loved the resort, staff is super friendly and service was perfect. The food was ok nothing great. But that's to be expected at any resort. Beautiful looking resort, very clean and well kept. Entertainment team always kept things fun and made sure everyone was having a great time. My kids loved the splash pad and big pool. Only down side was that I had no idea this resort backed on to a busy street. We usually sleep with the patio door open and like to wake up to the sound of the sea or even just peacefulness. But the street noise made that impossible. Overall it was a great vacation and would recommend this resort.

Beautiful, Modern Resort
Upon arriving at the hotel, just stepping off the bus, we were greeted with a warm, fresh, towel to clean our hands. This was a lovely touch after a long day of travel. Reception staff were very professional, efficient and friendly, highlighting the main features of the hotel. Hotel lobby is amazing! 24 hour coffee bar was excellent. Rooms are exactly as shown on the web site (beautiful, modern, clean). We had an awesome ocean view, nice balcony. Food was very good; we tried a couple of the restaurants but liked the variety of the buffet restaurant for dinner. We stayed for 10 nights and could easily have stayed for a few more days. The only minor complaint is that there was loud music blaring until the wee hours of the morning. I think it was coming from a neighbouring hotel so really not within their control. Also, there were lots of fresh beach towels available all day long - I read a complaint about this when I was booking so it seems this issue has been resolved.

WORST VACATION EVER.....WORST RESORT EVER...NOT A 5 STAR AT ALL!!
Do not go to this resort. Suggesting it is a 3 star resort would be pushing it. I would love to know how Royalton can claim that it is a 5 star resort. Dinner reservation were a nightmare. Rooms are poorly finished and damaged. Constant power outages across the entire resort. Always running out or products, drinks, food. Worst experience ever. Please don't go to this resort, you will be so upset and disappointed. Shame on the owners of the resort. They are taking money from innocent people who think they are going to a 5 star resort and not delivering on their promise and their advertising. I will never go to any Royalton property in the future. First and last for us

DO NOT GO ROYALTON NEGRIL OR CANCEL YOUR BOOKING
The resort is a disaster and not 5 star. The property and buildings are not even a year old but it looks and feels like a 3 star hotel. Power outages, poor quality of finishes, shortage or drinks and food. Table linen napkins, chairs and place mats were soiled and not clean. There was vomit in the main pool and the resort didn't close the pool to address the issue. Our 14 day visit was the worst vacation we have ever had. Save yourself the disappointment. If you already booked this resort cancel at all costs. Do not go to this resort. We traveled as a group of 6 adults and 2 children at a cost of $30,000 and it was the worst value for our money ever spent. Share transfer was another nightmare. a 1.5 drive took us 4 hours. Bus broke down on the road blocking 2 lanes of traffic in both direction in the dead of night. We need to find a passerby and hitchhike to the resort at 11:00 at night with 6 bags of luggage and 2 young children. The whole experience was a nightmare. Stay away from Royalton Negril. I could go on for days with a detailed list of issues.

Fantastic new Resort!
The resort is well layout, the grounds well kept. The entire resort faced the ocean so where you sit whether in main lobby or coffee cafe or sports bar balcony and outside seating at restaurants you can see the beautiful blue ocean.

Very clean and new
The food was exceptional and the staff in all areas were generous, kind and friendly. I loved the sitting down check in where we were assisted with immediately. Our check in guide made us feel like we were royalty. The place was so grand and clean. I would rate this place 4/5. I do have little kids so the only thing I wanted more of was children friendly entertainment. Their shows and day time activities/involvement often were geared towards an older crowd.

Amazing resort (Correction**) AMAZING STAFF!!!!!!!!
My wife and I loved the resort, the employees were all absolutely amazing and made our honeymoon sweeter than we could have ever expected. It isn't often when you can connect with people in a surreal genuine way but this occurred for my wife and I at the Royalton in Negril. As peculiar as this sounds, it felt as if everybody at the hotel were our family and although my wife and I wanted to get back to real life we felt emotionally tethered to the employees at the Royalton and because of this we were reluctant to leave. Some of the employees that we would like to mention: Keno Maxian Laticia Clithy David Kendra Shanae Chris The only sadness that I have in writing this review is that there were so many other employees who I can remember their actions, smiles, kind words, support and overall love and care but I can't remember their names and that is a fault on me not them. This trip has prompted me just to be better at remembering the names of the loving people who contribute to my life. I am honestly so honoured to have been able to meet and speak with and get to know the above listed people and even the ones whose names I cannot remember.

Great vacation - with a few things to work on
Hands down the food was amazing and the resort is big. They need a little work on service. Our first day, we ordered room service and we got our food 4 hours later !!! After calling a few times. It was a little challenging at the front desk, however after talking to them and changing our room the rest of the week went smoothly. The pool and the beach were awesome. We would definitely come back and hopefully they will work on the inconsistencies and improve, but overall it was a beautiful resort.

A memorable time!
Weather was great all week. Stayed in building 2 which was directly in front of beach and a 5 minute walk to lobby and restaurants. Rooms were kept very clean. Crystal clear water and great beach to walk along, was able to see all kinds of sea life while swimming - crabs, star fish, jelly fish, stingray, multiple varieties of fish. Enjoyed the buffet, enough variety to please all and lots of Jamaican cuisine. Best restaurant was Dorado. Also ate at Hunter's, Calypso, and Italian which were good too. Staff was very friendly and always looking to please. Only problem was that week went by to fast. Overall, a wonderful Royalton experience. Special thanks to our agent Shaukath Fattah who was a great help.

Amazing vacation!!!
We spent a week at the hotel with some friends and had an amazing time. The beach was beautiful, the resort grounds and rooms were amazing. The food both a la carte and buffet were great- never had a bad meal. The staff were incredibly inviting and friendly...Kadeem and odaine took care of us all week long they were awesome!! Would definitely come back here. The only negative is the distance from the airport to negril which made the travel an extra 3 hours after we landed but it was well worth the drive!

Fantastic Vacation!
We were a little nervous about this trip because the resort opening was later than expected. NO NEED! The resort is beautiful starting with its impressive lobby, to the restaurants and gorgeous rooms. Every room has an ocean view. We stayed on the Hideaway side and the view from our room was breathtaking! The beach on the Hideaway side was not to my liking as it was rocky and very small but the main beach was beautiful, I loved it! No need for any reservations for the restaurants (except for Zen) and no strict dress code for the men so eat when you want and guys, be comfortable while doing it! All restaurants have the option for indoor or outdoor seating which is another fantastic feature. Now let's talk about the buffet! Best buffet I've been to in the Caribbean! Very big with lots of options and again have the option to eat in or out. The buffet also has a separate dining room for Hideaway residents. Also try to have lunch at Beach Point was the views are spectacular. That's where you can watch the sunsets as well, no need to go to Rick's cafe. I don't have anything to complain about. Yes there was construction but it didn't interfere with our vacation at all. On top of how beautiful this resort is, all of the employees are top notch! I mean genuinely helpful and friendly. All staff from Security to wait staff to cleaning people. We will definitely be back. Do not worry about going to this resort, I can't say enough about it!

Wonderful Family Vacarion
This resort is a force to be reckoned with! It has the most beautiful beach and my son simply adored the kids club - he is 4. Food was very good and the buffet was always filling. Sure, sometimes they ran out of stuff the later you arrived, but there was always food. The restaurants were nice, but the steakhouse was quite impressive. We also enjoyed lunch at the Italian restaurant and they catered to specific requests from my son. The resort is brand spanking new and they are ironing out the kinks, but I noticed improvement during the week we were there. Gorgeous pools and spectacular rooms. We stayed in a presidential one bedroom diamond club suite. Premium liquor, and alright wine. The evening entertainment needs a boost. I'm sure they will get there.

We returned to this resort for the last week they were open, we had made many friends. Our two real reasons for choosing this resort were because of the adult only policy and their outstanding staff. Othneil,Veneer,Dwight,Freyia,Carlene,Paula,Stacia,Lisa,Linda,Vanessa,Georgette,Leroy and all the other staff too numerous to mention you are absolute gems. I sure hope you find other jobs and then find your way back to this resort because you are truly the ones that make it so successful. Love and good wishes to you all!

Great location!
The hotel is set in a perfect and serene location close to the 7 mile beach and local nightclub. It offers a beautiful view, calm waters, and a beautiful beach with accessibility to other resort beaches. The staff are absolutely amazing and offer a variety of activities for everyone as well as great evening entertainment. The food wasn't great but the drinks were good. As for the resort building itself, they are closing it down and rebuilding it as it does indeed need a major make-over both in esthetics and functionality but I did like the style of the building as our rooms resembled quaint villas. I look forward to visiting the new resort in the future once it is complete. Thank you Grand Lido for a wonderful holiday!

The staff make the place
The staff at the Grand Lido are absolutely wonderful. The lamb at the cove bar were out of this world and the people at the cove were down to earth. We made a lot of new friends and will never forget our trip. The resort was nice and small which is what we like; you're not treated like someone on holidays but as a member of their family.

Great week!
The staff are lovely people but the management is clueless on how to train them properly which is a shame. A minor tweak could take the service to 4 stars without much effort. But it's 3 star service, 4 star food and accommodation for the Caribbean. I had the best beach vacation of my life mainly because I got to do all the water sports I like and the people who work there and visit there are fun, relaxed, people. I felt like my one week was two weeks, I had so much fun.

Amazing time at Grand Lido
The hotel was clean, the rooms are huge, especially for 1 person. I went there with my husband a few years back and the staff remembered me. They are truly nice, funny and great cooks. There are 2 areas to the hotel. A quiet side and a clothing optional side. It was a choice, but you never felt uncomfortable. The food was awesome at the asian and italian restaurant and the bbq's at the beach and the pool. I loved that there was a coffee restaurant with espresso and spanish coffee. I walked the lovely beach and felt completely safe alone because security makes sure I give my room number when I leave and come back. Oh ya, they have grapefruit and cranberry juice. Not many places offer that. I didn't spend any time at the pools as the beach is amazing. So calm and you can swim all day, but wear sunscreen. It tricks you when you're in the water. Over all, very VERY satisfied.

Worth every penny
This is an older resort but don't let that bother you. It is in great shape, the food is great, service is good and the drinks and beach are wonderful. If there is any draw back at this resort it would be that there really is no large pool like you would find at other resorts. The resort does have a clothing optional section and beach but it is nothing to keep you away from this resort. If you are not into this then ask for a room at the other end of the resort and unless you go over there you will not see anything you don't want to see. There is more on the beach at the resort next to Grand Lido but again don't look. The beach bar serves great drinks and wonderful tasting jerk chicken , jerk pork, jerk burgers, hot dogs etc. There is a cafe open 24hrs a day and they serve up great coffee and deserts to die for.

Loved Loved Loved it!
Just returned from this wonderful resort where we stayed my husband and I (alone for the first time in over 7 years). First time to Jamaica too. We were more than satisfied. This place exceeded our expectations. We loved our room situated on the Cove where we could hear the ocean less than 50 feet away. The staff is the most amazing staff I have ever had in a resort. They are happy and friendly. Everything about this place was great. I would go back in a flash and would recommend it to all my friend.

Super Fabulous Place!
This hotel was just fabulous! I would go again in a heartbeat! It's not big, so you get personal attention, and quick access to every area. No line ups for anything. Some of the decor is dated, but still lovely and very clean and comfortable. The food was really delicious, with a wide variety. The drinks were just great too! They even had Clamato juice for Bloody Ceasars! How great! The piano bar after dinner was entertaining. The disco was fun! The beach was wonderful and beautiful...white sand, turquoise water...The water was so clear, it was incredible. A section on the side of the beach had rocks, just perfect for snorkeling, lots of fish to see. The beach chairs had thick cushions you could use, so it was super comfy. The floating beds for the ocean were so fun! The hot tubs after a day at the beach were just wonderful too. They had such nice personal touches for Canadians... It was great!

Great Vacation
We stayed at this hotel December 8 - 22, 2014 and had an excellent time. The Beach is stunning; the food was excellent; the rooms older; however very clean and pleasant; the staff were very friendly and helpful. Only issue that we had is that the hotel was over booked and we ended up with a cove room even though that was not where we booked. We found that there were several other couples that were in the cove rooms and had not booked on that side either. The hotel had the excuse that they were over booked and that they could only accommodate us there - I feel that they should not have offered the room as a non- cove room if they were unable to supply. We were disappointed that we were on the cove side as that is not our taste; however we made the best of it and would definately return to this resort but would make it very clear that a cove room would not be acceptable.

Great resort - But obviously aging
Overall a great resort. Hospitality was great, all the employees were nice and friendly. Well maintained and clean. Food was great, did not need to book reservations for any of the al la carte restaurants and were always accessible. Definitely a couple oriented hotel, the entertainment was consistent with that vibe. Great spot if you are looking for a low-key spot with your special one. Beach was very clean. Only complaint I would have, is while the rooms are very clean and the property well maintained, the rooms look like they have not been updated in sometime. Overall great experience, but would give them a 3.5 to 4/5 because of lack of updates to the rooms.

The staff are the strongest asset of this resort
My husband and I selected this resort because of a 'resort credit' they were offering, this turned out to be false advertisement. Sunwing refused to take responsibility eventhough they endorsed this promotion on their website. The sunwing rep on site was never at her post and was not very helpful. The manager at the resort was very personable and the staff were fantastic, friendly, happy and engaged. Beach: 3/4 - lots of chairs but in poor condition, loved the floaters that were available to add a little cushioning to the hard plastic and to float in the ocean. Resort overall - in need of a refresh, old chairs, furniture and decor - time for a facelift, loved that it was for adults only. The pool is small and there was no pool bar or beach bar. The resort should also consider a beach snack bar that offers patties, burgers and the like. Food - 3/4 - loved the insomnia cafe, great coffees including specialty coffee, place was opened 24 hours and the staff were awesome Entertainment - 3/4 - loved the live music, better than cheezy entertainment typically offered at all inclusive resorts Best bartender - Keron Buchanan (polite, professional and very good at his job!) We enjoyed our vacation because of our positive interaction with the staff. The resort has potential but seriously needs updating. May return if the price is right.....
