I have been here before when it was more vibrant, Although the staff are great and the food is on par with the ratings, I honestly will no longer return. Bucerias has beautiful beaches but the local authenticity of humble kindness is no longer, it has been pushed out by xpats, apartment buildings and big corporations. You can see the struggle of the locals and it saddens my heart. If I do come back to bucerias it will be to stay at a local small hotel or homestay. The Decameron is bland looking, lost its sparkle and shine. But I do stress the employees are as beautiful as ever. Special shout out to Jenny and Marisol in the restaurant by building 4. I would also like to add that this place right now is under loud construction of the roofs so if you want a good sleep I suggest building 6 or somewhere else. Thats it for now, I have been to Bucerias many times, this is my last time staying here.

We have stayed at the Decameron for many years. The upgrades they have made are greatly appreciated. The new lounge chairs were comfortable around the pool. The specialty restaurants did not disappoint. There was a huge group of seniors which completely booked the middle buffet and we were not allowed to sit and eat in there. The morning coffee was not available from the machine until 7 am. It was nice to see regular staff there. We were disappointed that they put us on the fourth floor because I was unable to do the stairs due to upcoming surgery but they moved us the following day. I would highly recommend that the salad buffet be enclosed with plastic doors to prevent the birds from flying in and taking items. Based on our price package we would return again. Our trip agent was very helpful.

2nd stay at this hotel and we have nothing bad to say about it. Good value for your money, ocean front property, lots of food options. Rooms are clean, we had a king size bed, mini fridge in room but not stocked. Large bottle of drinking water left in room daily. Property is kept up, staff are very friendly. Walk or taxi into town for restaurants and markets.

We have been returning to this hotel yearly for years. We love it. Definitely needs some work on the rooms...exterior renos seem to be in progress. We will continue to come here each year. Grounds are great. Pools great. Food was better from a 4 to 6 or 7.

This resort is excellent- we have gone many times - with the 2 of us- and with groups of people. The service and staff are excellent ! The rooms are large- we had a fridge and a safe. The beds and pillows were super comfortable, the bathroom and shower are large. The food is good, with special mexican nights, seafood nights, Italian nights etc. They have 5 specialty restaurants, and the buffets are very good. The shows at night are good. The beach is amazing, and there are many pools in the resort, including a quiet pool. The location for this resort is really good. It is an hour to Puerto Vallarta so it is very easy to go there. We travelled with Air transat and they had a representative at the resort every morning if we had questions or wanted to book tours. The resort is in the town of Bucerias and a short walk to the shops on the street and the local market. There are many really good restaurants and bars right on the beach in the centre of town. If you like to bike, check out Bici Bucerias- we rented bikes there and they are excellent- they are a 3 minute walk from Decameron. I would highly recommend this resort.

We cancelled our vacation at grand Decameron due to the civil unrest. This would have been our milestone birthdays holiday. We had planned this vacation for a couple of years only to have it cancelled due to the cartel uprising

From the moment we arrived, we were taken care of. When I needed a playpen, they were so quick and brought it to our room. Room service even made the sheets in the playpen when they cleaned. The staff are some of the friendliest people I’ve met, and felt like friends/family when we left. The food is incredible, never tried the restaurants but also didn’t feel like we missed out. Even when I went to grab a highchair, someone was quick to stop me and bring it to the table. This resort is incredibly clean, you notice staff cleaning all throughout the day. We cannot wait to go back!

i would like to comment on the staff member Eliana. She did not seem to understand basic concepts of travel. For example, i told her we wanted Premium seats, but definitely not the bulkhead. So she went ahead and assigned us to bulkhead seats. I tried to explain to her we absolutely did not want bulkhead. But she did not seem to understand. She wrote back in an email that she had checked with Westjet, and these seats (in bulkhead row) were definitely Premium (??). She just did not understand. We went ahead and did out own booking in Premium row 3. I would never use her as an agent again. If this is not the right place to make this comment, please forward this on to the appropriate dept. I have used Tripcentral many times in the past, but would never use her (Eliana) again. So i am not sure how i can screen for suitable trip advisors in future. Perhaps you can advise.

Loved the resort start to finish. Multiple pools. Beautiful beach to walk. Food was plentiful. If you couldn't find something to eat ,your problem. Multiple bars & washrooms. I loved the whole experience because I wanted relaxation. I did not want to come home. I will go back again next year to Grand Decameron Complex.

We were in Block 2 in an oceanview room - the room furnishings had not been updated but it was very clean and comfortable with Air Condioning, a mini fridge, an electronic safe, electronic key card entry, bathroom with shower ony and small bottles of shampoo, conditiner and lotion along with small bars of soap provided. They also provided one large bottle of water daily and if we happened to see the maid in the hall she was happy to gie us another. The buffet food was ok, some days the offerings weren't quite what we were looking for but we always found something to eat - food temp could have been warmer. The a-la-carte restaurants were all very good, we tried the Japanese, Thai, Mexican and Italian. We did not find the cocktail list to be quite to our liking so stuck with beer, wine and sangria. My only caution is this - security will go and remove all of your belongings from the lounge chairs if someone is looking for a spot and you have been "gone too long".... how long is too long? who decides?? this is the problem.... we told security that the people who were beside us on the beach one day had just gone for lunch, but he either did not understand or did not care- scooped up all their things and when they came back from lunch they no longer had a spot... not really my kind of vacation vibe - why dont they just get more chairs?

Hotels showing its age but grounds are beautifully maintained, staff are wonderful, premises immaculate, beautiful beach. Preferred the colours they used to have - beige is so boring. We keep going back because of the location, the ability to walk beyond the resort in safety. Food is mediocre but you will always find something. Many restaurants, bars within walking distance so eating out is a bonus.

This was our second stay with Grand Decameron in Bucerias. We were a little surprised when the vibrant building colors from last year were more muted this year. Again, we booked into an adults-centric block of 5 or 6. That was good for our requirements, and we could wander over to the other Blocks and Pools for a more lively and upbeat ambience. The rooms in Block 6 seemed more refreshed than last year. Maid service was prompt and friendly. The bar lady at Block 6 was excellent, cheerful and willing to play along with peoples' attempts at speaking Spanish. The ala carte restos were generally good. However JAP JAP resto had each of the courses served looking suspiciously like the previous course. We actually saw 2 tables leave after the second course and went to dine elsewhere. This year, being able to book the ala carte restos online was a welcome upgrade. However for our last two days onsite, our registration mysteriously disappeared from the reservation system, so we had to resort to the old standard standing in line for making your restaurant reservation. All in all, we would definitely consider coming back here.

We have been going to his resort for the past 10 years. We love the location, right on the ocean, we love the friendly staff, the cleanliness everywhere, rooms, pools, grounds, facilities, and the lovely little town of Bucerias, walking distance from the resort.

This was our first time to this resort and we will definitely return. Our stay at Decameron exceeded our expectations. The resort was very clean and the beds were quite comfortable. The room was made up fresh everyday and we had lots of bottled water. The mini fridge worked great and kept our ice frozen. Overall the food was very good and no complaints whatsoever. However, the red wine was inconsistent, but ok. We will bring a couple bottles of our own next time. The employees were all fantastic and very friendly. The ocean was awesome to look at but a bit rough for swimming (for our liking). The fact that this resort has several pools and bars is a real plus. The staff work hard to keep them well maintained and clean. A plus for the resort was the friendly gentleman operating the pottery painting opportunity. Many people spent countless hours enjoying painting their pieces. We have never seen this at a resort before and we really enjoyed it. The iguanas were wonderful to watch and quite entertaining. The only downfall to the whole trip, which is no fault of the resort, was that we got "tricked" into a conversation at the airport; someone selling excursions, which was really a timeshare scam. We got taken for $120 USD. - Beware! Live and Learn.

Food was ok, rooms were alright, however there are no elevators except in one building. If you were to end up on the 4th floor there is alot of stair climbing. Nice short walk to Bucerias Centro square with lots of shopping, bands playing and awesome street tacos.

I visited this resort 18yrs ago, I must say not much has changed, just some fresh paint. We really enjoyed it again. Everything is clean, staff are friendly and helpful and the food was great. I only have one complaint, the à la carte booking was ridiculous having to line up early in the morning just to try to book and you could only book for the day of. The recommended App did not work. We never ate at an à la carte as I was not wasting a few hours of our holiday standing in line.

I’ve never been to an all inclusive resort previously and I would definitely look for a different set of qualities in a resort next time. I found the hotel clean, the staff friendly and the overall environment very inviting. The food was consistent but pretty bland for my liking. The alcohol served was poor and I’m pretty sure watered down. I don’t drink much but when I do I would like a premium alcohol which isn’t watered down. I purchased my own beer from the local grocery store as a result. I did notice other patrons had done the same.

Food was cold and poor selection. Salad bar always good. Very limited staff everywhere- Canadian Club Rye only 2 days !! Never had this happen any resort in Mexico Few English speaking staff--even bar tenders. Loud speakers We will not return to Grand Decameron Bucerias.

This is not a five-star hotel which is fine with me, I don't require that. Overall the staff and the service are outstanding, rooms are adequate and food could use Improvement. Still a good deal for the price.

Ideal if one has mobility issues. Lots of level walking and ramps. Staff are friendly and helpful. Everything is kept clean. Food is great and always something to eat. Pretty much serve the same things daily so it gets boring if you stay for longer periods of time. I do miss cream for my coffee. They only offer milk. Never went hungry though.

The staff was very friendly, and the resort itself is beautiful. But the Mexican charm of brightly coloured buildings is missing. Unfortunately, there were far too many iguanas around the pool area. On one occasion, an iguana got into the pool, left droppings, and the pool had to be closed for 2½ hours. Iguanas were also in the surrounding trees, and our lounge chairs were soiled three separate times. More shade is definitely needed as well. Another issue was the lack of available loungers. Many times, there were none available anywhere on the property, even when towels had clearly been removed. The new lounge chairs at many of the pools were wonderful, but more are needed so one doesn't need to an air mattresses for comfort. The food was disappointing. Pizza, fries, soup, and other items were often cold or barely warm. Cooked vegetables, potatoes, whole salmon, and bacon were undercooked. Additionally, there needs to be more variety in protein options. We had requested a room on a lower floor, due to my elderly mother walking with a cane. When we arrived the room allocated was on a third floor. It took quite some time to find another available. We were given the top floor in Block 3 which had an elevator. The following morning, the elevator did not work. It was fixed late afternoon. Our room had no cold water the first 3 days. The shower water would get extremely hot quickly so one had to be careful not to get scalded. On day 3 this got fixed. Then the following day we had no hot water. Day 5 onward everything worked! The nightly shows didn't start until 9:30. It would be wonderful to have them earlier because there is no chance of an early evening in with the volume of the show - even with earplugs. (Not in Block 3.) On a positive note, transportation to and from the resort with Nexus was quick! Unfortunately, the food was such a major issue that I will no longer be recommending this resort.

Although a bit dated the staff makes this resort great!!! Unfortunately in the last 2 years the new ownership has seen fit to repaint the resort with boring beige. The previous bright colors made this place so charming. The food has also become a bit repetitive Overall a friendly family resort reasonably priced. I would give it a 3 star

This hotel is in a great location. The beach is close, walking distance to Bucerias and coffee shops and restaurants if you want to go off the resort. The grounds are really nice. Keep in mind this is an older resort, but kept very clean. Not alot of frills in the rooms, but beds and pillows were comfortable. For the price we paid, I would say we got very good value. We stayed one week and ate off the resort twice. Loved our vacataion and found guests and staff super friendly and safe.

You will be dropped off at the edge of a neighborhood. Hopefully your driver will be better than ours. There’s an Oxxo store up the road, as well as a big store - you might want to make a note of it, because your room will only have one warm bottle of water in it, and a lot of the day you won’t be able to find anything to eat. Check in will be nice and relaxed. Maybe excruciatingly slow would be a better way to describe it. Maybe the staff were all training the day we arrived. Without any trainers present. Before opening the door to your room, close your eyes and picture Motel 6 in the 80s, and get prepared. I think they shipped in the furniture when Motel 6 upgraded in the 90s. Once you enter, be very happy if your light works. The lamps on the nightstands might even work too, if you’re really lucky. Apparently, some of the rooms are even equipped with a floor lamp! You know you’ve hit the jackpot then. Before you look at the shower, lower your expectations. Then lower them a bit more. Did you bring some flip-flops? I’d suggest wearing them in there. Yikes. The shower curtain looks like it’s been there since back when shower curtains were a thing. If you arrive in the afternoon, you’ll be waiting until after 6pm to get anything to eat. Bring food. Once the buffet opens, you and all the birds in the area will enjoy some Saran wrap covered food that you may have to uncover yourself. Underwhelming doesn’t even begin to describe the buffet. Tomorrow, if you want to fight with the wifi at 8am, you might be able to get a reservation at one of the a la carte places. I wish you luck. Otherwise, line up with 50 other people at 7:30am. There are pools. And lounge chairs. If you want one, you’ll have to get up at 6am and go get one. They don’t skim the pools during the day.. ‘nuff said. The beach is nice. The sand is fine. If you like to run on the beach, take a week off. The angle down to the water is pretty steep. On the way back up to the resort, you can try your best to wash your feet at the shower station. One of them almost works! In short, if you pay more than $900/wk per person, Wyndham is seriously tipping you off. A few days in, and I was envying the people heading to the airport to go home.

We have been to this hotel at least a half dozen times. We come back because everyone is friendly, courteous and do their best to be accommodating. Unfortunately there was no hot water during our entire stay. Food: breakfast fine the rest 6/10. Location great but sure could use some work

Hotel is definitely aging and needs lots of updating. That said, the staff is wonderful, everything is very clean, the beach is one of the best. It is easy to walk into the small town of Bucerias or up to the highway to catch a bus into puerto vallarta and the malecon. Food is good for breakfast and lunch but dinner is not great. Ala carte restaurants are good. Easy to walk into town to one of the many restaurants there.

Hotel stay was great!Room was clean and staff was excellent. Great location and maintenance was immaculate. There was always something to eat and we enjoyed all of it. Many pools to choose from. Beach had lots of waves but enjoyed the water. Staff were friendly and helpful!

The hotel was very run down... - I had one warm/hot shower in 7 days , taps dripping, and no hot water in the sinks. toilets did not flush - the food quality was very poor - lots of choices but everything ( sauces) were watered down lacked in flavor compared to other resorts in Mexico and general overall quality of food was very poor - the bar's had NO fresh fruit, limes, lemons etc. - everything was high sugar content and really just bad. No fresh bananas or strawberries or access for drinks or smoothies etc. the due to the fact that the locals took up over 85% of the hotel , we will NEVER go back....... we were treated poorly...... I have never stayed in a Hotel that was like going to a mexican convention......

The resort was clean (rooms) and most areas. Washrooms were a little small size wise. Pools were good perhaps another adult pool or area where some light music playing in the background. Iguanas were a little much. Didn't like the fact that they were in dining areas. Dining: food was ok, nothing to write home about, but always cold unless you asked them to put it on the grill again.

Lovely hotel, located in pretty town of Bucerias. Hotel is decided into 6 bocks of rooms. Each block is set up to have everything you need in walking distance, with the exception of block 5&6. They are across a service road so you have to walk a bit to get to the ocean. We stayed in block 4, ground floor and it was perfect for us. You can walk for ever on the beach. There are vendors but a kind no thank you will do. Had a massage on the resort, $650 peso for 60 min near beach which I recommend doing. Beach is lovely, pools all over the resort. Food and service was good. Staff are very nice. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Free use of Bicycles and kayaks and paddle boards.

This is not a resort it's an old hotel. The food is so horrible you will have to go find food off resort. Cold, bland, no selection. Service in the buffets is horrible. Block 2 has a smoking section in front of it, great view of ocean but rooms are so old they are bad. Showers look disgusting, furniture handles fell off. And the noise from the pool area and night entertainment. And on the door side is street delivery trucks, cars thinking, dogs barking and music from the theatre till 1030pm. Block 3 is blocked by Block 1 but you will hear the theatre and the street and the pool noiseand shouting from microphone. The drinks unless u drink beer I never once had a buzz even after 10 mango margaritas..I don't drink tequila and if at home wowzer I'd be knocked out...but never did I once feel a buzz...so drink away those water drinks. No wifi unless you sit in lobby or lobby in block 4 Line up for a la carte every morning at 7am as the app doesn't work fir many people...good luck getting one at all. Entertainment was karaoke Mariachi band Trivia Unless you head to the theatre to see shows which were ok. Pools are clean and nice temp Beach was nice you can walk to Bucerias it's not far Prices in Bucerias are Gringo prices compared to other parts of mexico. Grocery store is expensive same prices as Canada..no savings Gotta get up at 6am to get a chair in the shade..good luck Get the InDrive app it's cheaper to book a ride with them Bucerias-PV cab is 550peso Indrive 250peso If you head to a restuarant or bar like jax the martini is $14 cad Went to a nice Italian restuarant on the water meal was $100 cad and that was with no drinks. Paco taco you can get a meal there for $10 The street bus on highway to sayulita was 30 peso each Avoid this resort save your cash and visit PV...you won't need cab and more nicer hotels.

This is not an artzy fartzy resort - but very comfortable! We truly had a very good time! I have absolutely nothing to complain about. It is walking distance to downtown - and we walked there almost every day to see what the locals were up to.

Decent hotel. Basic rooms. Too many rooms for my liking. Had to fight for beach and pool chairs. I would not recommend the a la cartes. Buffet food was decent. Too many locals selling merchandise on the beach. Always haggling. Markets in Bucerias a 15-minute walk.

Grounds well taken care of, rooms clean. Bar and restaurant staff are great. They work hard here. It's an older style hotel and they are working on so many improvements over the years. LOVE the location close to Bucerious and local stores. Suggestions: Icecream open at dinner, not just lunch. Face cloths standard in bathrooms. It would be nice to get more umbrella and chairs at pool and beach. I need some shade.

overall nice experience at this resort, great staff, great grounds, good food, comfortable bed. The only bean on the rice would be very outdated furniture, cheap woodwork, more attention is needed on this subject. Thank you Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias for a great stay!!!!.

This hotel has seen better days, I'm sure. The rooms show their age. Housekeeping was minimal and soap was almost an after thought. Drinking water in the room is scarce. Very few understand English. Pool loungers were all reserved before 6:30am. Most were unoccupied all day but had possessions on them (towels, bags, books or clothing). Food was good except birds kept getting into the buffet trays. Reservations for ala cart were booked up before 8:00am, never got in one so can't say how they were. All that said, the grounds were beautiful and well kept. I have been to Royal Decameron in Panama, (loved it) and this does not hold a candle to it. Would not go back, all though the town it's self was a lot of fun. Great night life outside of resort!

I took my mom here for a late birthday gift. The property is pretty large with 5 or 6 blocks of rooms, lots of pools, a tennis court. The grounds were beautifully maintained and the entire resort was clean all the time; the staff really did a great job with that. The rooms were outdated as a lot of other people mentioned which we didn't care. We were in block 2, which was very close to the beach, but also very close to the evening entertainment and it was quite loud late in the evening. I brought earplugs and slept fine. One issue with our room was that the main light didn't work and 2 of the 4 outlets didn't work. We only used the room to sleep so we didn't mention anything until we left, and we worked out the outlets so it was fine. The buffet was mediocre, pretty average from my experiences. We only ate one a la carte restaurant during the 7 days were there. It was difficult to get a booking as the app wasn't working, and you had to go line up at 7:30am in one of the lobby's, which we didn't find out until the second last day. It wasn't a big deal for us as we did a few excursions which included dinner, and we went into the town of Bucerias to eat at local restaurants a couple of nights. The beach.... this was my first time on the West side of Mexico, near Puerto Vallarta and I was very happy and enjoyed every day on the beach and in the ocean. I spent time on the Pacific Coast in Canada as a kid and swam in the ocean often. I didn't find the ocean too cold, it was quite choppy and rough at times, so we just timed appropriate times to spend some time in the ocean. This is not a "party" resort, which is what we wanted. Thanks so much to Sandra who helped me figure out an appropriate location and resort which would suit my needs!!

I can't say enough how much I enjoyed my stay. I have to start with the staff. They were so friendly and accommodating. I must say the cleanliness of the entire resort was amazing. I heard a few complain about the food. I never had a problem finding something I enjoyed. You must realize it's not a steak and lobster buffet. This was my first trip to Mexico and my first all inclusive vacation. You can be sure, I'll be back.

We loved the improvements to the rooms- the key cards and fridges were great! The rooms were clean and well stocked.We were disappointed that the bikes are in such poor condition, we love riding into Nuevo Vallarta with its wonderful bike path but we barely made it back! The à la carte system is still a bit frustrating, we’ve been to other resorts where we chose all our restaurants on arrival and also others that worked on a first come first served basis, not sure what the best options are for this. We had to look for chairs at the beach and at the many pools most days. There is still a lot of reserving going on despite the rules being clearly posted! We find the staff to be very friendly and helpful when accommodating our request for a change of room! The food choices were good. We love this area of Mexico and plan to return!

We have stayed at this hotel a number of times. We do love it and feel comfortable here. We choose Oceanfront and then spend our pool time in Block 5, Adults Only. Hot water showers are a bit touch and go as are some meal choices, but all in all. always enjoy our time here. We are already planning and looking forward to our next stay.

This resort has 6 buildings along the beach with a pool beside each building. The rooms are clean and well kept as are the grounds and public areas. The food is very good with many choices of buffet or a la carte. The staff are friendly and helpful. Next year I'm going back for a longer stay, can't wait!

This was our 4 stay at this resort. Resort is a little dated but kept very clean. The food selection is very good, you can always find something to eat at one of the two buffets or many snack bars. We were able to visit all five restaurants and found the food to be good at them also. The staff was very friendly and always acknowledging you even as you walked through the resort. Good value for money we spent. Couple of things I think could use changed are. The bikes, they are old and have not seen maintenance probably since they arrived. The second thing that needs to be addressed is the pool and beach chair reserving. We will be returning soon.

I have stayed at this resort many times - my all time favourite. I was worried that with the sale of the resort to the Wyndham group that it would change the true Mexican flavour - but if anything, it has changed very little. The entire staff goes to the extreme to guarantee your stay is exceptional. Thank you to the entire staff.

Beautiful grounds, excellent pools. Rooms are "tired" but clean. Food needs improvement, most items seam recycled, and all lacking flavour. Even the specialty restaurants, are lacking. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Frustrated by signs all over stating no reserving pool side loungers, yet all have towels, bags, etc on them by 8am, and folks often don't show up to use them for 3 or 4 hours.

The grounds are very well kept. The rooms...you get what you pay for. The food is hit or miss. There is no pool side service, the beach bartenders are disinterested at best, the a la carts have become very difficult to book, and this is also the first time I've ever seen a cockroach scurrying under the lounge chairs by the pools.

this hotel has lots of potential but fails to deliver! the pool chairs are hard plastic, you have to buy a floaty to sit on them. the pillows and lumpy and hard. there are no side tables by the pool so you have to put your drink on the ground and hope the ants don't get in. The food is bland and always the same. Ice cream is available in only one spot for only 2 hours a day. The sinks are clogged, the shower leaks and the water is NOT potable. I could go on about all the small things they could do to improve the customer experience but you get the idea!

This was a first experience at an all-inclusive and it was a great experience. The amenities were well maintained. The hospitality and enthusiasm of the staff were superb. There were scheduled activities available for all age groups. Certainly I would be a repeat customer.

The hotel was Great, clean, service was exceptional in all areas, our maids were excellent! They really have to work on assess-ability to the specialty restaurants! I like sitting around the activity pool, but some time a little to loud!

Food and Internet have improved. Fridges in every room now. Booking restaurants still brutal. We were there for 8 nights in Feb. 2025. There were several toilet seats missing from the common bathrooms and not one was replaced in the 8 nights we were there. One would think if an employee removed it because it was broken then they would know to replace them. Takes about 2 minutes and a $19.95 toilet seat to do it.

improved over last year i will be back lol, bar fridge in the rooms ,beds were upgraded ,, large drinking water every night in room ,,new keyless room safe and towel bars on balcony to dry wet suits and tank tops and towels , very clean grounds bartenders are on top of it all cheers to aldo

Ocean view room was perfect...old cabinets in bathroom and taps from 1950.... Lots of cobblestone steps around but ramps as well. Food was just ok..tender beef, swiss chalet like chicken most lunch and dinner. Veggies either mushy or raw. I love rice and it was good..breakfast good..home smoked bacon. Lots of seniors limping with knee braces but gorgeous grounds, beach lovely but ocean dirty. Nice to walk to lshops and Chedraui dept store.

Prior to 2020 we used to travel to Cocos in RDG fairly regularly. Royal(Grand) DeCameron was always touted as the better higher end version of Cocos. Our experience certainly did not reflect that. The service staff in the bars and restaurants and the room cleaning staff were wonderful as always but the front desk staff were not. We paid for a room upgrade when booking, when we arrived the desk clerk said we would love Block 2 because of the great views and it would be fairly quiet(our other request). The ocean views were good but the room was way less than 1 star and certainly not what someone should expect when paying for an upgrade. We complained the following morning and were told nothing was available for one more night(29% of the trip), but we had no choice. The desk clerk was also very rude and frosty after I pointed out to him that this was not what we should have been offered when we had paid for upgrades when booking in October. We were moved to Block 4 where the rooms were better... in comparison and also quieter. The light over the bathroom sink didn't work, when I went to ask for a fix, the same front clerk took my information. You can imagine how well that went. This was Day 3, after multiple days of asks, the light bulb was changed on Day 5. All in all, I would not recommend or ever go back. In comparison Cocos in RDG is a gem!!!

Another great 2 week vacation at the Grand Decameron (formally the Royal Decameron Complex in Mexico). Friendly, knowledgeable staff, great weather, good selection of food, beautiful grounds, beach and ocean views. Thank you, we cannot wait to get back for our 19th visit.

We stayed in Block No 1, Please note that these rooms need to be updated, do not expect a luxury setting or hot water very often for that, yet clean enough, but once you open up that patio door it did not take long for the room negativity to go away with the amazing views. The grounds were well kept with the bars being an arms length away. The food was actually not to bad with always something to eat no mater what time of day. To switch up you can take a walk to Bucerias where you will encounter little cafés, restaurants and no shortage of gift shops, we actually did this walk twice and felt very safe as their are other tourist. Went also took the tour Rhythm of the night and enjoyed it. Dinner was good but one suggestion is to bring a sweater or jacket for the return boat ride.

The Grand Decameron Bucerias is a very nice resort, within walking distance of centro Bucerias. The resort is spread out with several different blocks of rooms and 6 pools. So there's lots of choice whether you want quiet or more active. The beach is wide and has lots of palapas for shade. There's also free use kayaks, which was fun for our group. There are 2 main buffets, we liked the one by the activity pool, there was a nice selection of foods to choose from. I did find that food was never hot though, just warm, not sure if it's because the steam tables weren't turned up enough or because the lids were never closed. The staff was helpful and attentive.The other buffet had less selection I found, but the food was hot. It gets busy though, I prefer not to wait. We did a few a la cartes, the best was Mediterranean (Italian) it was awesome!! The Brazilian was good too if you like your meat! The pools were a little on the cool side, but once you're in, it's fine. The rooms are standard, beds were firm, they have mattress toppers on request, good water pressure and no shortage of hot water. AC worked really well! I found all staff were friendly and made us feel like they were happy to have us there. There was nightly shows early by the pool and then at the amphitheater at 9:30. There was guests of all walks of life, leaning more to 50+ there were families as well. We really enjoyed our stay, and would be happy to return again.

My wife and I had a wonderful time at the Decameron. Many options of all sorts to do and see. Huge beach, great food, friendly staff. VERY CLEAN EVERYWHERE. Nothing to complain about. I only suggest doing something about the limited beach palapas.

The Grand Decameron is a very beautiful resort well maintained! The staff is very welcoming and friendly! The food at all restaurants was well prepared! The room at Block One was very clean. Thank you to everyone!

It’s decent resort for the money you spend. Rooms are basic but everything was functional and clean. We stayed closer to the beach m, which we loved. The grounds are well kept and there are lots of activities during the day for those interested. Food was basic but good quality and you could always find something decent. It’s super close to Bucerías town centre which is such a great way to shake it up, roam around and eat authentic local food if you’re sick of all inclusive. We did the 20 min beach walk to town a few times - picturesque, safe and lots of great places to eat/ drink either on the beach or in town. The beach is beautiful and stretches out into each direction. The ocean is not your crystal clear turquoise paradise water, but clean. There are sting rays and water snakes to watch out for but it didn’t stop us from swimming every day. Shuffle your feet when you’re walking into the ocean to avoid stepping on anything. Very close to Puerta Vallarta for city exploration, excursions, whale watching and La Caletas coast visits (highly recommend).

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias is a very good resort, clean and well maintained, meal services very good, nice beach area with darker sand, clean water with no sea grass at all during January, bikes and kayaks available free of charge, local village right next to the resort and further down a good trail taking you to resorts south of this location, rooms very clean with a small fridge to, Wi-Fi was better than expected being available on the balcony of rooms in block 4 and also along the wall where the Ocean front rooms were ( could have been good other locations too ), pools not so large or deep. Not a night person the evening music could be loud depending on the room location, Block 4 was fairly good to not hear it too loudly however if the room was between Block 4 and 3 some additional noise from the deliveries early in the morning to the restaurant. Shower is a little dated still more than acceptable with plenty of hot water. In the future I would consider going again, also at time of our booking was one of the best priced places in the region.

My friend and I visited this resort for a week Jan 11-17 2025. We had a wonderful stay. Our room was spacious and clean, the food was delicious with a lot of selection and so were the a la carte restaurants. The drinks were plentiful and the bartenders were excellent. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful and I would recommend this resort to anyone. Friends, families and couples. It seemed to be an older crowd, but maybe that is because it is farther from Puerto Vallarta. We did take an Uber there one day and it was about 30CAD each way. Cons: The wifi did not work in our room. I was in block 3 near the lobby, but when we were in our room we could not connect. I know 3rd world problem, but just letting you know. However it was awesome on the beach near the bar and by the pools. 2nd Con was the Westjet rep. We decided to book an excursion and booked through him afterwards finding out that it would have been cheaper to book online direct. Also he told us we had to leave the resort at 6:15am, only to reach the office and be told that we didn't have to be there until 9am. So we could have had breakfast and a more leisure morning instead of starving and sitting at the office for an additional 2.5 hrs. Apparently they sent the rep an email of the time change and he did not forward that to us. So do yourself a favor and book online direct with the actual companies.

The grounds are very well kept with maintenance crews always around. Every morning crew was out raking lawns picking up leaves. Pool areas were washed down every night when pools closed. Bathrooms were cleaned through out the day many times. Few toilets had no seat. Wifi in all common areas. Had to be on balcony to get it at room (block2)

We just arrived home from an unforgettable time at the Royal Decameron in Bucerias. It had the right vibe for us, it was not pretentious but absolutely offered what we needed in order to relax and completely enjoy our stay. The rooms and grounds are meticulously kept, and the staff are amazing. The food was very good at the restaurants, and completely decent (at times very good) at the buffets, we did not encounter any stomach issues at all throughout the trip. We stayed in block 5, which is great if you want a more quiet setting. The italian restaurant piccolos was the best that we tried on the resort. The shows were entertaining, and the nightclub had it's moments (dead some of the time but occasionally bumping on the dancefloor). The beach is clean, the waves are a good size to play in, and the hotel offers kayaking and paddleboarding. There were just enough chairs for people on the beach, depending on the time of day. There were lots of vendors coming to sell wares at the beach, but they were okay (just be aware). Notable - this is not the most expensive/fancy resort but it has the best location and vibe for enjoying the town of bucerias. The hotel intersects a main road which leads into bucerias and along the way you will find dozens of nice restaurants, live music, art, a market, and a very hip scene for travellers to check out. 3 blocks up the hill from the hotel is the mexican big box store called Chedrauis and you can pick up anything you need there for fair prices, as well as a bank across the road to exchange and get change for tips. We noticed that the other guests had floaty mattresses that they would put onto the loungers to give them more cushioning - they were after all hard plastic (clean though) - you may want to buy one of these or if you're lucky someone leaving may give you theirs when they go. If you're looking for the best burger in bucerias its a 15 minute walk to a place called the Burguer Lab - its a hole in the wall, but the best burger, brought a tear to our eyes. Kensho was another nearby restaurant which we loved, they had an excellent pad thai and mussels. Many excellent choices for whatever cuisine you'd like, within walking distance. We were able to relax and rejeuvenate at the resort, we were treated well, we ate well and really enjoyed the proximity to the action in bucerias. Next time we will stay for 10 to 14 days as 7 was not enough. Thanks to everyone at the Decameron! Hasta luego

Very well kept resort, awesome food with good selection, drinks were great and the staff was friendly and helpful and the beach was amazing!! Lots of green space and always had loungers available and I will definitely be returning next year!!

This hotel is close to shopping and beautiful beaches. The food gets boring after 2 weeks but I have always found plenty to eat. The staff are excellent. There are places to go walking to either the left or right of the resort. Just follow the street or path. They also offer some nice excursions for a fee. I did the whale watching and the tour of Mexican life to the Rancho Palma Real. Both were great!

We had a great time. Nice pools, food at buffets was tasty and we enjoyed the a la cartes. Beds were very comfortable, had great sleeps. Grounds were kept nice and tidy.a great first Mexican experience for my friend.

The grounds were immaculate and rooms were very clean. The staff in the dining and bar areas were very happy and accommodating. I think the food was ok. It was too americanized and bland. It was fresh and clean in the area though. All in all a nice experience

Room was a bit of drag . But food staff pools beach people selling stuff and staff including room cleaners all very great and I spent alot on tip to show my gratitude.. bar tenders were amazing and will return next year 10 stars

The a la cart Jap Jap was terrible. And the buffet food was bland and birds constantly eating rhe bread. Staff was friendly in the buffets. The maid was amazing and did a fantastic job. All in all I would rate this resort poor

This resort is very large but very well designed, with multiple pools & restaurants so we never felt crowded or had to wait for anything. The grounds are beautifully taken care of and the beach is beautiful! It was very wavy the week we were there so there wasn't much ocean swimming - but we did get to see dolphins a couple of mornings! The drinks and food were consistent and tasty. We ventured into town a few times and loved the experience. It was very walkable and we felt safe. My only slightly negative comment is in regards to the rooms- they're very basic with not a lot of storage. I know one doesn't go on vacation to stay in the room but a few upgrades would improve the experience!

The resort is very picturesque and lovely. The staff were very welcoming and warm. Food was plentiful, varied and well prepared. The entertainment at the theatre and poolside was delightful and fun. All in all a wonderful trip.

We spent a week at this resort in April. It is an older resort but very well maintained. Our room was very clean and we had hot showers at any time of the day. Alot of care goes into the beautiful grounds. We found something to eat at all the restaurants. The staff at this resort go above and beyond to make people happy. We loved our housekeeper, Marisa, in block 4. Such a kind and helpful lady. If you are looking for a fantastic massage go see Elizabeth at Massage Carolina, on the beach, which is very close to the resort. Try the free bicycles at the resort. A beautiful bike path is close by. We definitely will go back.

We absolutely loved this resort! We were looking for an inexpensive last-minute vacation when we booked this resort and reading some of the reviews, our expectations were low. Although the rooms are dated, they were very clean. The grounds are also kept extremely clean and manicured. The service was excellent in all areas. Shout out to Hamid at the beach bar and Erick at the buffet restaurant! The staff were friendly and happy. The food was very good with a good variety daily. The beach is amazing! We loved that despite the size of the resort, it didn't feel like it. Rarely did we have to wait in line for anything and could always find chairs on the beach. The resort's proximity to Bucerias was also a big plus! We are already planning our return trip next year!

This wasn’t my first stay at this resort and I always enjoy my time there. However, there was no pico de gallo this time. I was looking forward to the fresh pico and chips! The reservation system needs to be changed. The Al la carte restaurants are sold out within 5 minutes and if someone cancels there is no way to let’s others know. The beach bars are enjoyable for the warm evenings and great for people watching. More lounge chairs are needed for the beach and pools. There is about half the amount since Covid. People reserve the chairs by putting their towels on them early in the morning and don’t show up for hours. The food is hit and miss but there was always something good. The Al la carts were great. I would go back again as I know what to expect but if you are looking for luxury this isn’t the place.

The hotel was in need of some updating but overall was ok. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had lots of choices for places to eat at the resort and the food was good for the most part and plentiful. The fresh fruit was awesome. We discovered Oye Henry's Seafood grill right on the beach and we ate lunch there twice. We did the Sunset Cruise but unless you are looking for a "booze cruise" I wouldn't recommend it. We hired a driver and guide who took us into Puerto Vallarta for a tour and some shopping at the markets and we enjoyed that. I would say that if you are travelling with anyone with mobility issues you should maybe look at a smaller place; this complex is huge.

The Royal DeCameron is clean, staff is super friendly great location with lots of places to eat, prices are reasonable. Lots of activities on site or nearby. I appreciate the hard work and care all the staff puts into this hotel

Resort was old. Didn't have servers to get drinks for you at pool and sitting area. Rooms old. Patio door had gaps on each side to outside. Food was okay, but alot of same food. Any excursions you had to pay for a taxi to get to them

We where disappointed been at the decameron complex many times in the over the last 15 years.Not as good as it used to be.The buffets are poor, trying to to book a ala carte restaurant is near impossible.The internet is sporadic most of the time.One of the beach bars was closed all the two weeks we where there.

The complex and grounds were well maintained but dated. The rooms would benefit from upgrades such as coffee makers and refrigerators. Door security is questionable in that both the entry door and patio doors are loose and rattle with the wind.. The beach was beautiful, the staff were accommodating and very friendly. The buffets were adequate but underwhelming.

It is not a 5 star, but bang for your money. The hotel has changed hands and it is gradually being upgraded over time with paint, new chairs etc. (not enough staff - one person said, they were about 200 staff short) They are trying to invented it as a destination wedding venue. They were taking the activity crew away and having them do different things for weddings and event planners conference, we did not see the activity crew until almost noon.(2 days). So we took charge of our own stretching class and then another gent took charge the next day. There was always something to eat if you did not like the looks of something. When we had a problem with very very stinky pillows, we just left a note for cleaning staff and they changed them -- that was the only issue we had . The activity staff had things for us to do all day - stretching, crazy game, bean toss, darts, water polo, beach volley ball, water acrobics etc.

Very Mexican. Sprawling resort with many places to have quiet and many places to go and explore. Staff were very pleasant and helpful to us. Food choices were many and always available. There were many Canadian people and many Mexican families as well. Everyone seemed to enjoy the hotel. Rooms were good sized and always well looked after. Thanks Elisa! The only thing that was not up to par was the wifi. It was terrible. Did not use much but the function was limited to small areas and signing in every time to use.

The Royal Decameron did not disappoint. We had stayed there 10 years ago for several years in a row and then switched it up for other areas of Mexico. Being back felt like home. The resort is so clean, the staff are bar none the best, and food and drink were even better than I remember. Such an easy going atmosphere, great pools and great beach access. If there is one very little criticism it is that wifi was not available everywhere on the resort. Very small inconvenience at worst. Thanks for a great holiday. We will be back.

This trip has renewed my faith in Mexico vacations. We were almost at the point of not ever going there again. The rooms were functional and comfortable. The buffet was adequately stocked.The exterior was pristine. Very clean and constantly being tended.The staff was friendly and helpful. The only compaints we have, is because the flight was late leaving Edmonton, we arrived at the hotel at 11:30 at night. The resort was very dark and the person who met us spoke no Englsh. We had to carry all our bags about 1 block to the room. Normally, this would not be an issue,but I am currently waiting to have surgery on my back. The second issue was in the booking of our bus to return to the airport. We were given the time of 4:45 pm. I checked this 2 days before departure. Was reassured that was the correct time.we did all the checkout jobs and waited at the area we were told to wait. At 3:20 a bus arrived. We were asked if this was our bus. Of course I said no. We finally had to be taxied to the airport at 5:00 pm,which was comped by Sunwing. Over all,we were very pleased with the vacation.

Really like this resort. Although the resort itself is showing its age, it is spacious, kept clean and the staff is friendly. The pools close a little to early, six for most (seven in unit six). The buffets are not super elaborate but have a good selection. The food at the buffets should be kept a lot warmer the soups etc were often rather lukewarm Had a good time overall. People who have been there before will notice changes.

The grounds at the Royal Decameron were beautiful! The pools fabulous! The buffet good. The A-la-cart restaurant, needs work have to give this part a 0 of 10. Rooms require updating! We had a great time here resort (3 weeks) Also the price you pay reflects acceptance of the room condition.

The staff were very helpful and the grounds were immaculate. The pool areas were well kept too. The entertainment was consistently good. We will most likely return again. The staff were bilingual so it as easy to communicate with them.

This was our first time at the Decameron and we went with lower expectations from reading the reviews and we had a lovely time! In our estimation it is a 3.5 star and that's ok if you go in knowing that. Food was good - always able to find something to eat at the buffets. A la carte restaurants were good also and yes the process to get reservations is crazy but we were able to get in to all of them. Our favorite was the Piccolo and the salmon was the best meal we had in the 2 weeks there. Drinks at the bar were adequate and no or minimal line ups. Room - large rooms- adequate, yes old but comfortable and cleaning staff cleaned well, no elevators in block 4 so lots of stair climbing but quiet block and close to everything. Able to get wifi off and on around complex. New safes in rooms now. Beach- waves were rough and not swimmable, a croc was spotted one day so no swimming that day. Sand beach was slanted so hard to walk on except when low tide was out then flatter. Always able to find a beach chair at the beach. Lifeguards were well trained and worked hard. Loved the sunshine, warmth and relaxing. Activities- enough going on for our older age group but not a young persons vibe. Night shows were good and entertaining- The host did an amazing job speaking in both English and Spanish and was quite humorous. Thoroughly enjoyed the friendly atmosphere of staff and guests - met many other couples mostly from Canada. Gorgeous sunsets. Did 3 day trips- PV, Buceries - 30 min walk one way, Sayulita - local bus cost $2.50US each way-30 min ride and was easy to catch and a lovely town to visit. Highly recommend going to Sayulita.

The Royal Decameron Complex is welcoming beautiful and clean. Over the years however the up grades in the rooms are needed, the lounges are old. The buffets for us are great, but the a la carts have gone downhill and trying to book a reservation is less the ideal. If you request a particular building or floor good luck when you get there because it won’t happen. You can get it changed but you will have to wait about two days. It doesn’t matter if you’ve asked due to medical issues upon arrival you get what you get.Saving a lounge with towel apparently has become an issue and is not allowed the last I heard which is unacceptable for those who do not abuse the time saving for their lounges for an hour. We hope to return one day but some improvements are needed before that happens.

The main problem with this hotel is that you cannot request a certain room location in advance, even if you have been a guest at the hotel many many times. It doesn't seem fair. We for example only use the adult pool area. That is where we want to stay. But we have to argue and fight for that after we arrive. We eventually got into Block 5, which is what we wanted, but it took over a day and we lost a day of our vacation. Another couple we met there had spent 3 days to get to their preferred location. They too had been at R de C many times Food: medium - we eat out a lot the adult pool: good Staff: very friendly.

Grounds - not bad Public Areas - not bad Rooms - need attention. Wall plug ins are so loose that they don't always stay. Lamp shades are tattered. Dresser drawers fall if pulled out too far and the some handles to pull out the drawer are attached with wire. Dining - Buffets are good, but one doesn't want to do that every night for 2 weeks. It is next to impossible to make reservations unless you can be in the lobby EARLY and are super fast on your cell phone. There needs to be more areas available for internet access and a person able to make reservations for at least 3 times per week (as other all inclusives do).

My wife and I have never been to this resort and here is our unbiased review. We were at the resort the last 2 weeks in Jan 2024. We had a great time at the resort, but we probably would not be returning again. Nothing major happened, but a bunch of "could be better" items just added up. The grounds were nice and kept up. Getting around the resort was fairly easy and not crowded at all. Pools near our Block 6 were not crowded, and were fairly quiet. Nice music coming from the bar area at Block 6 and was not obnoxious and was a good nice atmosphere. Staff was ok, and friendly. I'm sure that we never took advantage of all the amenities that the resort offered, but then again we didn't hear of any either other than what was playing at the Auditorium and when. A bunch of positives are the buffet, which was actually really good and we commented many times that the buffet food was good and lots of variety. On the most part, food was usually fresh and warm, but as all buffets, it usually gets cold by the time you get back to your table. Tables and lineups were not too long depending on the time you went - usually at a min at buffet. The nightly shows were really great and we caught most of them. Hats off to the master of ceremonies and the crew of dancers - they were very good!! Some of the "could be better" items.. The rooms are basic. My wife and I are not "high maintenance" and not "world travers" and are basic normal appreciative people. We originally were sent to building 2, but complained about the fruit type flies and oldness smelling of the room and asked to be moved. We then went to building 6, which was much more modern. Again, the small things add up, but in our building 6 room, there was a missing lamp shade, receptacles were extremely worn out (for chargers), all dresser drawers were not able to pull out/broken and a small fridge would have been a nice touch - but nothing fancy. The bed was so hard that we went to Walmart and bought a foam to put under sheets. We asked for thinner pillows but never got any , they were made more for long neck type individuals. The doors between the next room, if you had a large family and you could open them to be connected, were paper thin and you could hear virtually everything in the adjoining room. The noise from the rooms below and the room on the other side were fairly quiet. The sun lounges were solid white plastic and looked really nice, but were extremely uncomfortable on the back and butt. They were SO much better after we bought floating air mattresses to put on the lounges to make them comfortable - big tip for future people!!. Lounges around the pools and beach were usually "taken" fairly early in the morning, and i mean early - at the beach, they were "taken" before 8am. Pretty typical for a resort, but it is frustrating to see lounges taken with towels, but not used for the day, again, pretty typical for any resort. The restaurant reservation system is a joke to be honest. You have to register the "morning of" and you have to register online. With 4 restaurants and 600+ rooms, reservations are hard to get. The major frustrating problem is getting on to the WIFI, at 8am, and registering with 599 other rooms at the same time. By 8;10 am there are no other options left but buffet. If you are not "techy" on your phone, the buffet will be your go to. The 4 restaurants were different, but ok. The Italian was by far the best one for us. Again, we would not go back to this resort, One also had to take a cab or ubur anywhere outside the resort. No shuttle service, or bus for any excursions either, I personally think the resort is rated higher than it is on line.

Royal Decameron Clean, lovely beach, good food, good drinks great service, pools are really nice, excellent choice. Bucerias is a nice funky town to be in with lots of options for shopping, art, food and music

Great location on the grounds and just outside to BUCERIAS. All fine til going home This is the only area to write seconds on boarding plane we were told to disembark aircraft due to mechanical issues 2 hour wait. Well then it went to 6 hour wait finally a 10 hour delay. Had to bring an empty plane from Toronto to pick us up and return home Air Transat issued food vouchers not worth more than one sandwich we left at 10.:10 pm arrival Toronto 3:30am We were given a $200.00 travel credit hardly worth a nites stay in a hotel that was available. Others missed there rides home. I drove but had to pull over twice to stay awake. Had zero alcohol for last 48 hours and a scary ride home pulled into my driveway at 7:00am. Saturday. Waste of a next day. $200.00 hardly covers what we all had to endure. Air Transat should have put us in a room for the night and flew out the next day East enough to varify what I just wrote hoping for some further consideration for compensation from air Transat.
