Beautiful Resort!
We thought everything was amazing, the room; drinks and dining at the Italian, Steakhouse and Asian restaurants and the buffets (our preference was the Goldfish); the pools and the beach. The lights around the grounds are spectacular! We did not upgrade to Unique and don't feel like we missed out on anything.

Nice resort
Clean, large, 2 good restaurants. Buffet food was always cold even when first opened. Nice sports bar. Beach and pools were great. The people working the bars weren’t very happy at times or personable. Even when you gave them nice tips, they didn’t seem to respond. Little disappointed that you couldn’t find a restaurant to eat at between 4 and 6 PM. All the buffets opened at 6:30 besides the American restaurant which had awful food.

Perfect for all ages.
From the moment we arrived , explored the resort and settled in at night we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The fitness centre , water park and poolside provided exactly what we all were looking for. If there is a negative, the rooms were quite humid, leaving the sheets feeling damp but I assume that’s climate related.

Amazing Resort - Truly had my heart
We stayed at the Lopesan from January 4 to January 11, and I have to say—this hotel truly had my heart. It had everything you could possibly need. There was a 24-hour sports bar in the lobby, along with 24-hour room service, which was amazing. The room hallways, pools, and washrooms were always clean and well maintained. One thing that really stood out was that the hotel has its own boulevard, something many hotels I’ve stayed at don’t offer. Along the boulevard, there was an incredible coffee shop—you could find me there maybe three times a day. There were also many different shops, including organic stores, duty-free, a candy shop, clothing shops, and a pharmacy with a 24-hour doctor’s office, which was very reassuring. The resort had so much for kids. There were two water parks—one located at the end of the boulevard, which was actually really nice. You could spend a full day or just a couple of hours there, and since it was out of sight, it was out of mind if you didn’t want to go every day. There was also a teen club, a kids club, an arcade, bowling, and three escape rooms. Lastly, the entertainment team and staff were incredible. There was always something going on, and they truly engaged with guests around the pool and during the nightly shows. They were honestly my favorite part of the resort. Thank you, Lopesan, for such a wonderful vacation. ?

Beautiful Resort
The resort itself was beautiful, and the staff so incredibly helpful, polite and friendly. My family and I stayed from Dec 23-30, 2025. The rooms were clean, well appointed, and looked brand-new. The bed was very comfortable. We had a pool view over the adult pool, and they were able to put our children (18 and 21) two rooms over on the same floor, which was very much appreciated. The beach was fantastic. The one thing I have come to learn about Punta Cana, is that the calibre of the resort also reflects on how well the beach is maintained. If you want a clean beach free of seaweed, then stay here. We saw many other resorts that didn't clean up the seaweed as well or as early each morning. It makes a difference, because the seaweed attracts bugs like noseeums and sand fleas that bite. Lopesan's staff were very diligent about keeping the beach clean, and would collect the seaweed every morning. We swam in the ocean every day, and the water was beautiful and warm. I was worried that the section in front of the hotel wasn't deep enough to swim as per the photos, but it was quite deep by the buoys, and you could swim and tread water without difficulty. The food was decent. There was a huge selection for the buffet. The restaurants were much better. If you can book into the Mexican, Steakhouse, and Asian restaurants, I would highly recommend. Avoid the French restaurant, and the Italian was fine, but basic. The hotel also had a casino with roulette tables, where my family had fun each night. The chips are $1 USD, so you can play without feeling like you are breaking the bank. I also took advantage of the spa, where I had an 80 minute massage for $100 USD, and it was excellent. Overall, I would recommend this resort, and go back again. Negatives: There is a drain/mould smell in the lobby that the resort tries desperately to cover up. I found it really strong on my first day, but by the time we were going to leave, I barely noticed it. I would recommend getting rooms as high as possible to avoid it. We were on the 4th floor, and didn't notice an odour at all.

Wonderfull Resort with room to improve
Pros: Absolutely beautiful place, location, grounds and decoration. Cons: Air conditioning system with with a major engineering design problem. Not enough insulation and faulty drain system. Condensation accumulates on the drywall causing mould and leakage. It's heart breaking seeing such beautiful Hotel with that major problem. Staff rush you to eat quickly in the main restaurants due to high demand. The house wine is awful. It does not meet a 5 start hotel standard. The food, the water, the ice or all of the above are causing health problems. Me and my wife got stomach and digestion problems.

Amazing Stay at This Breathtaking Resort!
I recently had the pleasure of staying at this stunning resort, and I cannot recommend it highly enough! From the moment we arrived, the level of service was outstanding, and it was all thanks to our incredible butler, Isaury De Los Santos Isaury made our vacation completely trouble-free by being constantly available, always solving any issues with a smile, and providing exceptional service throughout our entire stay. His attention to detail and commitment to making sure everything went smoothly was truly remarkable. He made us feel like VIPs the entire time! The resort itself is a true paradise – beautifully designed with lush vegetation throughout the property, creating a serene and tropical atmosphere. The landscaping is impeccably maintained, and it really does feel like you’re staying in a luxurious jungle retreat. Food-wise, this place has it all! The restaurants are fantastic, offering a wide variety of delicious dishes, and the massive buffet never disappoints. There’s also a 24-hour American diner that serves up huge burgers, crispy chicken fingers, and mouthwatering chicken wings – perfect for late-night cravings. The food options are abundant, and you’ll never go hungry here. I also want to highlight that the bars are plentiful, ensuring you're never too far from a refreshing drink. The room itself was super comfortable, and everything was running efficiently – from the air conditioning to the water pressure in the shower. No complaints here at all! However, the only downside was the condition of the beach water. While the sand was pristine – soft and white – the water wasn’t as inviting. It had a greenish hue with some seaweed floating around, along with debris. This was a bit of a letdown because the beach itself has so much potential. Despite that, the overall experience was absolutely fantastic, and I would return in a heartbeat! Huge thanks to Isaury and the whole resort team for making this an unforgettable vacation. If you’re looking for a relaxing, beautiful getaway with top-notch service and facilities, this resort is the place to be!

Going downhill unfortunately
This was our second stay at Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort, and unfortunately I have to report that the quality and experience is going downhill. Good points - the room we were given was quiet, and always kept clean. Air conditioning works, however a bit damp in room no matter what you did. The beach was generally good, unfortunately quite busy, and had to get seats - same with pools - just not enough for guests at the hotel. The bar by the unique pool made the best drinks - other bars (Beach Bar, Lobby Bar) were ok. Bad points - the quality of food had gone downhill rapidly. One diner in our party has celiac disease and while they did not get sick, the staff knowledge of gluten free, the options available, the selection at the buffet(s) and basic labelling was extremely poor. The other food was lacking in flavour, in variety and in execution. As supposedly a premium resort and dining experience, extremely disappointed. In addition, staff were slow, a long wait to get drinks in the restaurants. Overall, our experience has turned us off from this resort and we won't be returning.

A pretty perfect vacation
Lopesan Bavaro is a stunning, clean, modern resort, with incredibly polite, friendly, and helpful staff (no, they don't all speak English, but we always figured it out), a gorgeous beach, more pools than you can ever swim in, and very decent food. I had read reviews about warm rooms and fridges (our air conditioning was perfect throughout our 14-day stay – almost too cold!), humidity (none), smell (none to faint in less air-conditioned areas), and food poisoning (never). There were always chaises available by the smaller pools even at 9:30-10:00 a.m. during our January stay, and the noise level is by no means party-all-the-time, which suited us fine. This resort has a lot of activities, but it's not jam-packed with them; it's more of a relaxed vibe. Evening entertainment is just below cruise level but the effort and passion are there, and the costumes and lighting are great. We enjoyed morning walks on the beautiful beach after a fantastic buffet breakfast, where the selection is vast. Restaurants were I'd say a 7/10 (pretty good for a resort feeding thousands of people), with some dishes being amazing (e.g., the octopus at El Asador; the pizzas and spaghetti bolognese at Gondola). The meat is thin and can be tough (not always), but they know a thing or ten about stews and slow cooking (the caramelized plantains at breakfast are already sorely missed). We were always greeted with an "Olla" and a smile by the staff wherever we went, for all 14 days. Managed to catch our NFL football games in the Valley Restaurant and made a few friends. Just an absolutely lovely time and I can't say enough about how great this resort is. It's large enough to be continually interesting, but not so vast that you can't get around without a tram. I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Amazing but needs better maintenance
We stay 7 days and it was mostly amazing, the hotel is beautiful, food is great, general service is okay, beautiful people… but the fridge in our bedroom was not cooling, the drain in the shower was partially clogged, the tv remote was not working. We complained on our first day and they never fixed. We followed up and nothing happened. The replaced the tv remote 2 times but gave us broken remotes again. Also we found roaches in our bedroom. Also, we forgot the bad for my baby stroller in the bedroom and 30 min after we went back and the was not there anymore and the hotel could not find even knowing that the cleaner was the only person who entered there

DISAPPOINTED
Very pleased with the resort clean and friendly. However we booked this resort for the kids water park and it was down the whole week we were there for maintenance. We should of been told that this was going to happen and we could of picked another resort. I am sure that this maintenance work was scheduled as there were a few people working on it, this did not happen overnight!!! We asked the hotel for compensation due to the fact that the water parked was not up and running and they did NOTHING. They told us to seek compensation from you people. So do you plan on doing anything for us with regards to this. It was very disappointing for the kids!!!

Terrible experience
Do NOT go here, especially if you have children or need special accommodations (disability, allergies, etc). I wouldn’t recommend this resort or destination to anyone. The staff was incredibly rude. We spent more time trying to sort out our stay with no resolution than at the pool/beach. The pool decks were covered in cigarette butts and empty cups and the beach front was unkept by the resort.

Very happy here (but here are a few tips)
First of all, the room (a basic 2-queen economy room) was large, clean, modern, quiet, and new. Check in was quick and courteous. We were shown to our room which was handy as it is a very big resort. I'm glad we got a room near the beach/pool. Tip #1 - be sure to ask for towel cards at check-in as they didn't give them to us and I could not get towels without them. Staff are courteous and helpful. There is limited English but guess what, you're in a non-English speaking country. I used google translate on my phone once or twice and also enjoyed the chance to learn a bit of Spanish. Food at the buffet was pretty good, and there was huge variety - seemingly endless stations and dishes with different tastes. So even though a lot of it was a bit blah, the variety saved it at the end of the day. A la carte restaurants have similar quality food but with the disadvantage that you're stuck with one dish. We went to one restaurant and then stuck to the buffet after that. Worked well especially with 3 and 5 year old kids. I was a bit disappointed that "juice" was actually a sugary beverage not the real thing. Speaking of Kids, the childcare place was great and nobody was using it except our kids. So take advantage of it. The waterpark was also great for the kids. Tip # 2 is about the drinks. While brand-name liquor is behind the bar, they don't use it unless you specifically ask. Rather, they use some generic stuff under the bar that has virtually no alcohol or taste. So remember, its "Mohito with Barcardi please." Also, for larger drinks, consider asking for your drink plus a shot of the liquor and adding it yourself so the alcohol is not watered down in a large cup. The resort is huge but well laid out, with the buffet centrally located. Take the time to explore it, including down the "boulevard" that ends at the waterpark. And the coffee is great generally but even better at the Cafe which serves all sorts of drinks including sugar-free if you ask (sin azucar por favor) fruit smoothies for the kids. Getting a spot at the pool or beach was no issue at any time of day, but I'm sure it helps that the place seemed only half-full. Tip #3 - if you need to buy anything (hat, sunscreen, etc) steer clear of the on-resort shops. There is a little shopping area just to the right of the resort as you face the water at the beach, that has little shops with everything you might need. I got a nice sun hat for $10 and I'm sure there was room for negotiation. The demographic was a bit older than I was expecting - A lot of mid-40s people like me and up from there. Chill vibe. Enjoy!

Very good resort
We just came back from a 7-day trip there. The resort is approximately 25 min away from Punta Cana airport. We're the only ones being dropped off there, so the check-in process was quick and easy. The check-in starts at 3 pm, but if you arrive earlier, they will let you enjoy everything at the resort already (except your room if it's not ready). We already had the Lopesan app installed. As soon as you have your room number, I suggest you log in and start making the restaurant reservations. They fill in quickly. What I didn't like in our stay: Tipping culture: I know DR is a tourist destination, and many people there depend on that. I just don't like it because the vacations are not cheap, and we still need to worry about tips. The worst part is that they expect tips, so if you don't give it or give little, you may receive a lower quality service. We didn't bring too much to tip (I wish I knew that before), so we gave little. I noticed on the third or fourth day that the service was not the same. It looks like they already knew we don't tip much and provided a not-great service. Beach: There were two problems with the beach. One, the swimming area of Lopesan is super small, less than 10 meters wide and maybe 100 m in length. And don't think that it's okay to go over if you know how to swim, the lifeguards will whistle the hell at you. The second problem of the beach is that, for some reason that I don't know, all the boats in the area park right in front of the resort. It's just annoying because you can't get a good picture of the sea. If you walk like 500 meters east, you can take nice pictures there, but if you're just chilling in the resort beach area, you will always have the boat view. However, the beach area of Lopesan has the best structure. There is an umbrella for every two chairs, unlike the neighbouring resorts, which only have chairs and some palm trees to make shade. Daily activities: They offer 3 free daily activities (provided by a third party). The scuba dive experience (on the pool, just to people know how it feels like), the kayak, and the sailboat. The kayak is fun and can take up to 3 people. The problem I had was with the sailboat. They say it's free like the kayak but they said it would cost $55 for the first time, "to learn" how to use the boat. Something that I'm sure it wouldn't take more than 10 minutes. Maybe that's why nobody uses the sailboat there. Now, what I liked: Everything else! The resort is very good overall. The food is excellent. I could eat every meal at the buffet, I just didn't do it because we wanted to try the different restaurants. The pools are very good too, none of the pools were too crowded and they have several to choose from. The waterpark is awesome, I had a lot of fun with my son. The gym is excellent, all the equipment is new and well-maintained. The theatre is ample with nice attractions. Next time, we will try a different resort, but I would definitely go back to Lopesan if I had the chance.

Fantastic Resort
We had researched the hotel a lot on you tube prior to the vacation. The reality was even better than we imagined. Fantastic location, facilities and variety of food. The staff were all excellent and friendly. We stayed in a standard Junior tropical suite which was a nice size and very well maintained. The only thing it lacked what an extractor fan for the bathroom/Shower. The A/C was very effective! Beach was lovely, busy with party boats coming and going but didn’t bother us and added to the atmosphere of fun. Will definitely return next year.

Great resort
This resort is an excellent value for money and the unique adds to the experience. Although the unique doesn’t maybe give you as much as other “step above” clubs offered it was definitely worth the extra that we paid. The beaches are excellent, the unique beach buffet was great and we really enjoyed the lobster tails/scallops and steak offered for lunches as well as the service. The manger runs a tight ship and always ensures each guest was having a great experience and she would always stop say hello and ensure everything was to expectations. Jose our butler was amazing and checked in multiple times a day to ensure we had everything we needed. I found all al la carte restaurants to be very good and easy to book. The unique pool was a great quiet getaway as well. Overall a great time at a great resort!

Overall good but expected more
The grounds are very beautiful, lush and can tell a lot of time/money went into landscaping. Outdoor and aesthetically, it looks superb. The footprint of the resort is huge. The Boulevard seems to be mainly unexplored/untapped area that either few know about or frequent because it's a bit of a walk? Anytime we went there, the main courtyards and sitting areas were all empty. Lobby is grand, well decorated and clean (likely because it was mostly always empty). You can tell a lot of money was invested in the kids waterpark, theatre (very big and state of the art), however that entire area was empty a lot of the time. Public areas could be considerably cleaner. Unfortunately lots of people didn't clean up after themselves and garbage was lingering by the pool and other places. The tables by the pools also didn't see to be wiped down frequently (if at all). The beach was disappointing. Lots of seaweed and no attempts to clean it up, water overall was cloudy and not great to swim in. Very shallow swim area and there were tons of yachts "parked" right in front which I have never seen at other resorts and didn't love. Rooms are nice and as shown in the pictures. Some wear starting to show but overall was happy with the state of them. Some staining on the bedding but overall decent. We paid for the swim out room. While it was nice, the water was super cold and didn't get any sun until late afternoon so we didn't get as much use out of it as we had hoped. For the additional $1500 (per couple) it was definitely not worth it and would personally not recommend for the price point. The rooms otherwise are exactly identical. Dining was mediocre at best. Cleanliness definitely needs to be improved. The buffet seemed to be hit or miss with items being randomnly placed in areas, unappealing and needing some more TLC. The tables could using more cleaning and the placemats too (had a lingering stench that was not great). Lots of use of plastic & styrofoam (have been to other resorts in DR that seemed more eco-conscious and had recycling systems in place). The overall presentation at the buffet is much less than what I would expect for a 5 star resort. While we didn't go there for the food, it would have been nice for this to check off more of the boxes. It also didn't help that 2 people in the group got food poisoning/traveller's diarrhea. Drinks are the same at each bar/restaurant. Special drinks not listed on the menu and need to know to ask for them. Definitely tasted better at some bars vs others. There is no limit on a la cartes and you can book through the app which was convenient but the food at the restaurants was not that much different than the buffet. Would recommend the French restaurant first and foremost. The Yolo restaurant (located in the Boulevard) had an authentic tasting menu that we unfortunately didn't have time to try but looked interesting. Not sure if it's because it's not central to most other hotel amenities but this restaurant was always empty! Service - most of the employees are friendly, some more than others. More reserved than at other resorts I have been to which I didn't mind but there may also be a language barrier. Additional pros: free room service/menu, Michael Jackson show as quite good, Additional cons: no swim up bar, everyone puts towels down on chairs so if you don't also wake up early and do the same you're not getting a chair at the pool or beach, Overall, we had a good experience but was expecting more for the price point. Would recommend if the above negatives don't bother you. Unsure if I would return in the future but leaning towards no due to cleanliness and beach.

Beautiful Resort but no adults only section
We stayed here the first week of November. We booked adults only section. The resort is absolutely beautiful, food was ok, drinks were great, service excellent. There were no activities at the adult pool. Our section of the hotel had kids running up and down the halls and the clubs, no matter the time of night were also full of kids. There is no adult time at this hotel, or any adult vibe. We were told due to low occupancy everyone was out together and when the theatre isn’t open the shows are in the clubs and all ages are allowed. We did not enjoy never being kid-free. So we would not return to this resort. Be aware that you will always be around small children, with the exception of the adults pool.

Beautiful resort
I booked with Jim O'Neill - he was excellent from beginning to end! I would book through TripCentral again, but only if Jim assisted! Thank you, Jim! Extremely friendly and helpful and tolerated all of my questions. Hadn't done an all inclusive in 15 years, so I had a lot of questions. As for the resort, absolutely beautiful from the moment we walked into the lobby. The entire resort was clean and beautiful - had a spa like feeling to it with the warm colours and landscaping and just the overall vibe. The good: The room was clean and super spacious - housekeeping was great. Beach was nice, bit of seaweed, but it is an ocean The boats in the water were only periodically noisy, but I didn't find it annoying like a lot of people complain about - actually gave for some nice pictures and something to look at vs just the ocean Food at Inari (the Japanese restaurant) at the teppanyaki tables was fun to watch and delicious! Service at the adult pool was great - although there are no swim up bars, the servers come to the pool and serve, so basically the same Happy to have some shade at the ocean and pool areas Room Service - was very good. We actually became friends with Jose and are keeping in touch. He was so nice and wants to learn English :) The not so good: The Teatro - the show Emotions was absolutely horrid, we walked out early and chose to not go to any additional shows Booked the adult only package - however, there were some young crying kids on our floor at the hotel, so that was a bit disappointing Booked a flight package that left early in the morning on departure and early afternoon on the way home - for a higher price (the flight got changed to a later departure both ways - so felt we got screwed on pricing AND had to pay $25/hour at the hotel for a late checkout) We only stayed an extra 2 hours, but still thought that was crappy on the hotels part...and quite frankly, Sunwing too. The food - was okay, but not necessarily the buffet, it wasn't great at all. Wish they actually had a Domincian restaurant so we could try authentic food. It's just Dominican people trying to cook North American food, so it's average. The drinks - were definitely not watered down! Get a double espresso with Gressy! Amazing! Coffee - if you want to take some home, buy it at the airport, it's cheaper! Would go to this resort again and would recommend.

We read some bad reviews before going but it seems people are just picky. We have been to many nice hotels (all inclusive and not) and we really liked this one. It was at the top of our list. We knew to expect that service in Dominican is not what it is in North America. Also the food is different from home. But the food was good (fresh fish and meat every day at lunch, can’t go wrong. Steak restaurant was good. French restaurant steak was comparable to a high end steak house in canada). The service was hit and miss - some staff were grumpy. The grounds and decor were beautiful, modern and extremely clean. Very little wear and tear on this property. Fountains and greenery everywhere, which was beautifully lit at night. No bugs. Restaurants were all really nice, especially the seafood and the steakhouse which are on an upper level and have a beautiful view. Rooms were bright , spacious, modern and very clean which is extremely important to me. I am picky about rooms and this one didnt disappoint. Only bad thing was that the water in the shower was not very hot. We loved the outdoor dance floor beside the bar at night. One night there was a beach party which was very fun. Huge indoor auditorium with entertainment at night though we only went once as we’re not so into that. Live music on Saturday at the lobby bar was also great. Beach was very wide, comfortable chairs. It was not too difficult to find a chair at the beach or pool Clientele was diverse , people speaking many different languages. Not too many kids other than babies (perhaps due to time of year - not a school break time). But there are 2 kids water parks - one closer for younger kids, and one at the entertainment complex which was large and looked super fun, though we left kids at home so we didn’t try it ). Also a kids club, bowling, arcade and teen club with activities , so very family friendly Overall a really great experience. I would return

Disappointing stay and stay away
My husband and I went with our baby and 2 other couples with families. To give some context, we've travelled extensively around the world and have been to DR alone atleast 15+ times. We're realistic about what to expect when on vacation in DR and am only comparing this our other times in DR and not 5 star resorts elsewhere. First off, the resort is beautiful and very family friendly. That's where the positives end. Food is mediocre everywhere (again in comparison to other DR resorts). Service is atrocious save for a few exceptions (shout outs to the awesome/funny servers in the valley and the French restaurant), but the vast majority of employees there including guest services really seem like they don't enjoy their jobs and don't really care about the guests. Our first night checking in, our room was digusting. There was blood on one of the towels and a dirty q-tip still in the shower and the sink had other blood around the rim too. We took pictures and showed guest services and the first response we got wasn't even an apology but an "ok" and we practically had to beg to see what they could do to make it right. Took the next day where they offered us an "upgraded" room that was identical to our current one but just at a different part of the resort they claimed was nicer. Instead I asked for the upgrade to unique bracelets instead, which they atleast accommodated so I'll give them that. Little did I realize that the unique bracelets really offered us no additional benefits, we got access to a better beach buffet where the food was the same as the other regular buffet. The service was better here for sure, but the bar was still the same grumpy overworked bartenders who acted like they were just punching in and out no matter how well you tipped or tried to joke with them. On the last day my husband ended up getting food poisoning from the unique buffet ironically. Was vomiting all night and didnt end up sleeping at all while trying to not wake our baby. I asked if we could check out slightly later @ 2pm instead of 12pm (which is customary with our unique braclets anyways) and was promptly told no they do not have any rooms available but I could purchase an extra day if I wanted it. What??? Also told them about our food poisoning incident and was just given a cursory "ok". Oh well at this point I didnt expect much anymore. Also, I'm realistic. If the food poisoning incident was an isolated experience he’d chalk it up as just bad luck, but throughout our stay every member of our group had some type of gastro issues at one point or another. The hygiene and food safety in this place is definitely lacking even for DR standards. All told in all the times we've been to the DR this resort is definitely in the top 10% but easily in the bottom 5% of food and services we've had. One of the only places I would probably never recommend to anyone coming to DR.

Beautiful and Modern Resort
The resort was absolutely beautiful and very modern and clean with plenty of seating and things to do. Staff were very good and the food was amazing. Lots of food options for all ages as well as swimming areas for all ages (adults or families). We loved how this resort was so big so it was never an issue with over crowding or trying to find a spot to sit by the pool or beach! I will say the resort was so massive that you do need to do quiet a bit of walking to get from point A to point B but that’s just the small price to pay when the resort has everything to offer. There weren’t any mask mandates with Covid and everything was open and running. Overall we can say we highly recommend this resort to you or any of your clients interested in traveling to Punta Cana!

Large, beautiful hotel for Adults or Families
Lopesan is a large hotel so make sure you bringing walking shoes. That being said there so many choices of pools for all. Main pool is huge and clean but sadly you can’t see ocean from pool. There so many chairs everywhere so you always find one. Beach right now has seaweed but they clean beach all day long. Restaurant choices are good and food amazing. Buffet gets a little repetitive after a week but food is still tasty. Staff is very friendly and helpful and hotel staff keep hotel extremely clean. Rooms are mostly king beds with pull out couches so not many rooms with two beds. We booked private transportation as it was easier than waiting for large group with WestJet

STARTED OFF A BIT ROUGH BUT THE HOTEL RESPONDED TERRIFIC!
I have to be honest, the stay started off rough with us not getting our room cleaned and a couple of other issues. I submitted a review on trip advisor while I was there and the hotel management tracked me down. That was so important to our family and made the positive difference for the rest of the trip as they asked us what they could do to change our minds and make us happy. After that our room was cleaned every day with even a night time check in from the cleaners! If you are a beach lover then you should consider another hotel as this beach is very busy with party boats docking, going in and out from right in front of the resort. Previous reviews mentioned this and I have to say it is true. These large boats and constant movement really muddies the water even more. I guess Bavaro beach is having a major sea weed problem as we couldn’t swim in the ocean for one day of our trip. The resort itself is beautiful, rooms are beautiful, I would recommend a pool bar as you have to constantly get out of the pool to get a drink. The restaurant’s are all excellent, food was awesome! The gym is phenomenal and is a professional gym. Theatre for shows is phenomenal as well. The most valuable part of this resort is the staff we met there. They treated us like family, it was emotional leaving them. We upgraded to the unique option which was worth it as you get extra restaurants, bars and a personal liaison rep who takes care of everything you need. In the end, I am a very fussy person and I would go back tomorrow. Here are some very special people. Jose or liaison/butler as a part of the unique Alejandro Cedeno from the unique restaurant is phenomenal and treated me like his brother. He has the heart of truth and genuine kindness you seldomly find. Belkis Vilorio is the supervisor at the unique bar and she is another jem! Treated all of us like her family! Winnie or better know as Winnie the Pooh from the unique bar was another beautiful person who always took care of us and treated us with a smile! If you treat the staff with respect you will definitely gain some long term friends and memories! I know all of these people mentioned above are forever in our hearts. Thank you

AMAZING Resort!
Everything at this resort was impeccable! From the rooms, to the pools, to the service in the restaurants and poolside - we couldn’t have chosen a better resort. Everyone was super friendly and the entertainment was fun by the pool during the day and at night at the lounge. The grounds are super lush and luxurious, and everything was super clean. We are looking forward to our next visit, we will definitely be back!

Amazing Resort!
This hotel was wonderful. It is fairly new so very clean and beautiful. The grounds are impeccable, with many gardens and water fountains. The rooms are large, clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed the unique experience with a swim up room and it was excellent! There are many restaurants and so much variety of foods which was all delicious. The pool and beach were wonderful. They could use another beach towel hut as they only had one and often ran out of towels and had people waiting for clean ones. Overall this resort was excellent and we had a great time.

The resort is quite large. Found the boulevard area far enough walk. Was disappointed that the casino did not have any slots - only had 2 card tables. Although the resort website states casino. Excellent vacation
The hotel was huge but after a few hours we knew our way around. Rooms are clean. Good is delicious. A lot of variety at the buffets but you must try the el asador steakhouse and the gondola Italian. The water park is fun for kids of all ages but it is a bit of a walk and it’s important to know that there is no bar near the water park so make sure you grab a few at the buffet. Lots of chairs at the beach but if you want one near the pool make sure you get one before 9:30. This place caters to people of all ages. Would recommend.

Beautiful Resort
Our stay at the Lopesan Costa Bávaro was fantastic, we had a wonderful vacation. The grounds were beautiful, the smell in the lobby was not pleasant, but they are trying and you get use to it. The Only negative is the entertainment..it really needs improvement, it was very boring and the same thing every night. They also need more chairs for guests to sit on at the beach and pools. We would go back to this resort in the future

Beautiful, but work to do
Resort was beautiful and good layout. Smell wasn’t that bad, but there definitely was a smell in the lobby and some hallways for a couple of days. Hotel staff were hit or miss, most were pleasant and nice, but some of them were just unhappy to be alive on particular days. I did experience some rude and unappreciative guests, so trying to give the benefit of doubt here. Beach and pool chairs... I honestly thought the other reviewers may have exaggerated, but not so. Found myself heading down to the pool at dawn to secure a spot, going back to bed and then coming back around 8ish to about a 1/3 full chair area, which would mostly fill up by about 11. Lots of towels on chairs and guests who did not arrive until noon or later - disappointing given the “no reserving†signs everywhere. Staff try to mitigate as much as possible and are helpful when asked to find some space. Dinner reservations were made the morning after we arrived so no issues there and would have been great to know when activities or shows were happening at the hotel. No real information except for a few of them listed on the TV or digital boards spread across the grounds. Coffee shop was great! Water park was fun and otherwise, a relaxing vacation.

This hotel was fantastic all around and will only get better. It’s a 10 month old resort, staff is friendly but not always efficient due to language. This resort is a mix of French, Russian and English so it’s understandable. The beach is awesome, the facilities excellent. Food is somewhat bland but ok. The spa is excellent as well. This resort offers you coffee shops to casinos You won’t regret your choice if you come here. Make sure you get towels early and get your seats by the pool This is the one problem. Also it’s worth going “unique†for the extra benefits you get as a unique guest!

Beautiful Resort BUT!!
Our vacation started off with about an hour delay leaving as the Sunwing flight crew couldn't get ground transportation to the airport. (poor excuse - weather or mechanical problem acceptable). I will never go on another vacation that has these horrible flight times again and it seems that's all Sunwing has. Once we were at the hotel we were at the head of the line, so check-in took no time at all. I liked that our wristbands were also the key to our room. We got a nice surprise, our room had been upgraded. Our room was big and beautiful. I had a few complaints that should be easy to fix. We only had 1 small bottle of water in our room ( in a country where you are not supposed drink the water). This is the first hotel I have ever been in that didn't have kleenex in the bathroom. The room had a nice big closet but it only had 3 hangers in it. This is the first resort I have been that has a 24/7 restaurant. Which was great because it was after 11pm when we got there. The service was fast and food was good. We only had to make reservations once for the a la carte restaurants. We ate at a different 1 every night except 1 which we ate at the buffet. No complaints at any of them. My favorite was the Japanese. The grounds were beautiful. Couldn't believe how mature the gardens looked for a new resort. Infinity pools all over. The Boulevard has just everything you could want to do. The casino is still not open. The beach and the pools are beautiful, but the BIG problem with this hotel is the chairs at the beach and the pool. The first morning we got out to the pool late, so we were expecting to have a hard time finding a chair. But the next morning we were down by 7. There are signs up saying no reserving of lounge chairs. But by 7 there were very few chairs that didn't have a towel on it and very few people at either the beach or the pool sitting on them. I have no idea what time these people were down there at. Morning 2 we got our chairs and went to breakfast. Now this is a first of any resorts I've been to. When we got back our stuff was still there but our chairs were gone. There was a gentleman sitting by us that said he had told them to not take them we were coming back. He said the worker at the towel shack had told a security guard to take them. Don't know why they picked on us but there was still a lot of chairs with no one sitting on them. After some discussion with the towel guy and the security guard another worker was going to get us chairs. Have no idea who he stole them from. This was quit the discussion with everyone around the pool. You could watch several times a day, everyday the staff removing peoples things from their chairs and carrying them away. Supposedly more chairs were on order. You felt like you couldn't get up and go to the bathroom or go in the pool because your chair might be gone when you got back. One morning I sat on another couples chair to make sure no one took them while they went for breakfast. I found this very frustrating and I don't think I would come here again at this time of the year. One night I went to get clean beach towels for the next morning but there weren't any. The next morning when I went to get clean towels there were a couple of girls that asked for an extra towel. My thought was that people were getting more than 1 towel and saving a chair at the beach and 1 at the pool. If the people working in the towel booth would only hand out ONE towel like they are supposed to this might help with the chair problem. I think this resort could use another bar on the beach. There are only 2 bars down by the beach and large pool. One is for Unique guests. There were very few people using it all day. The bartenders did handle it well at the bar the majority of people used. They had the people line up on both sides and kept telling them to move over. This was a fair way of doing it. They had a cart set up on each side of the pool with drinks. I didn't get a drink from these as there was not a cooler keeping the water or mix cold. Just a big bucket of ice. They could also use more waitresses working around the large pool. Most of the time it seemed like there was only 1 on the other side of the pool. I've been to other resorts that had places with machines that you could go get your own water, juice and pop. I think they could use these here. Leaving our flight was supposed to leave at 9:20 pm but it got delayed by 2 hours. I liked they left us at the resort. But it was 1 of the other passengers that told us first that it was delayed not the Sunwing Rep. We were finally in the air at 11:50. LONG DAY!!!

Beautiful resort but very, very, very poorly managed!
I would rate this resort 3-4 stars. And we are not picky. It took us a long time to check-in because we had to change the room. Got to our room and it had a horrible sewage smell. Sewage smell is one of the biggest problem at this resort, not everywhere but in some parts of the resort. Finely got a beautiful room with ocean view. No problem with reception, they understand the problem and trying to help. - I don't know if its a poor management or cleaning lady think that all you need is 1 towel. You have to look for them every evening after the beach to get towels. - The staff is poorly trained, especially on the beach. They will get together 3-4 people, stay near you on the beach or pool and talk loud right beside your chair like you don't exist, you try to get around them, they won't move. - And now, the WORST part. No chairs on the beach available unless you are up at 5-6 am. The beach is packed and you will not get a chair. I don't understand, they spend so much money on this beautiful modern resort and created this problem. Buy extra 100 chairs and let people relax, it's supposed to be a 5-star resort and you pay for it. People fighting every day. The manager, young girl that was called on the beach to help sort it out has to be fired. Couldn,t get her name. We've never seen anything like that. They say that we are not supposed to reserve chairs on the beach, it's their rules, I understand but they created this problem, because not enough chairs. It is a 5-star resort, for goodness sake. She was taking peoples belonging and putting them on the ground because someone came and asked for the chairs. Staff was running around, throwing towels on the ground, stealing pretty much chairs and giving to other people for tips. Our neighbor on the beach went with his wife for a walk on the beach, A staff member came, decide that it's being reserved, put their stuff on the sand and took chairs away. We tried to tell them but nobody listened. Unbelievable. They don't ask for money but they know they'll get good tips. Management pretty much created business there. Unbelievable. 5 or 3 stars hotel it doesn't matter. They have no right to touch my stuff. It creates a lot of tension on the beach. UNPRECEDENTED. -The bars are always busy and the service is extremely slow. - The Restaurants Do not eat at the Mexican, smells like sewage. Japanese, Italian is Ok. The buffet food is good. No complaint. Overall the resort is beautiful, modern. Potential to be a luxury 5 star. Need a lot of work, train stuff, managers totally lost. I hope the owner is reading our reviews and fix it fast. I am definitely not planning coming back to this resort. For a lot of people, the vacation was ruined.

Major kinks to iron out
It's a smaller resort with about 1000 rooms. The hotel and grounds are beautiful, as was the beach. The food and drinks were very good. Staff was friendly. The resort offers 3 levels of service: "Unique", "Adults Only" and the rest of us. We were "upgraded" to a "Unique" room but were told we were not entitled to any of the "Unique" amenities, which are private beach bar/restaurant, private lounge, and private roped-off beach area. There were less than two dozen people who were actual "Unique" guests, so many other people were also upgraded (without the amenities) - mainly because the rooms were empty. This created problems for all of us. The beach area reserved for the "Unique" guests was the same size (we paced it off) as the area for the regular guests. So you had maybe 24 people in the reserved section, and then over 1000 guests crammed into the same sized area further down. Every morning, there were people arguing and trying to find chairs and spots to sit. There were simply not enough chairs, and not enough space for all the guests at the beach or at the pool. Unbelievable! You had to get up before dawn to get a chair, or you were out of luck. There are two beach bars, one for the "Unique" guests - which never had more than a few people (in fact, often more staff than guests), and a smaller one for all the rest of us. Can you see the problem? Another minor issue was the refrigerator. It never got cold. We brought it to the manager's attention, but nothing was ever done about it. Yes, the fridge is stocked with 2 beer and 2 coke every day - but it's warm. Yuk If people are looking for night entertainment, they won't find it here. There is a live band that plays from 8:30 to 9:30, and that's it. Also, the casino wasn't open.

Not Enough Lounge Chairs
The hotel was brand new, it was beautiful. The location is great, the beach is amazing. They still have to work out the kinks. Being a Canadian on vacation we expect people to behave in a polite manner. The majority of the clientele at this resort is rude and pushy and have no problem dumping your belongings of your lounge chair and taking it. They bud in line at the bar and the buffet. This resort does not have nearly enough chairs. If you can get one by 7am you’re lucky. Chances are it’s going to be gone after breakfast. I witnessed a huge man threaten an old lady and then get rewarded by the management with prime spot and four chairs. When you pay for a five star resort and have to fight over chairs it’s not acceptable.

Average Resort
This resort is new and still experiencing some growing pains. We had a swim up room which was really nice. Clean and very spacious. Beach was beautiful, but very, very crowded. If you didn’t get a chair by 8, it was hard to get a spot. Witnessed several near fights over chairs. No Palapas only umbrellas and not nearly enough if you want shade during the day. Buffet is pretty good, but set up is poor resulting in long lines in the morning for omelets and at night for fresh pasta. Ala Cartes are good. Beach bar setup is terrible. Long lines and long waits to get beach cocktails. We have been to 12 different resorts in PC over the years. While we enjoyed our time here as we love Bavaro beach we would not go to this resort again.

Great Week AT Lopesan
I had a wonderful week at this beautiful resort. My first time in Punta Cana and I was not disappointed. The buildings and grounds were very clean. The food was varied and the staff was friendly and attentive. I liked the wrist band/room key idea. Not having to worry about losing the room key was ideal. Some of the women in my group (15 of us), were concerned with the shower and toilet area in the rooms being close to the entry door...not enough privacy. We dined at the Mexican and Asian restaurants and both were excellent. Make sure when making a reservation for the Asian, to ask for the show or you may be at a table with no view.

HUGE FABULOUS RESORT
Large resort with 8 pools, bars and restaurants galore. Stayed at the adults only part which has it's own pool. This resort is well constructed with the best of materials and the rooms are beautiful. The hotel is new and they have a few issues to figure out and when they do it will be one of the nicest resorts in Punta Cana. On Bavaro Beach which is probably the best beach in Punta Cana. They are currently understaffed and they need to teach their workers some basic English as we have to learn some basic Spanish. There are issues with food not being hot enough in the buffets and with so many allergies they have to label the food before someone suffers a severe reaction. Two simple steps that would mean so much. However staff is friendly and will go out of their way to please you.

Excellent Resort
Travelled October 22 to November 1 - Ten days, adults only. Upon arrival we were informed that there was a special check-in for adults only. The check-in was smooth and fast and our room was ready (bonus). The room was very nice however we were not that impressed with the frosted glass for the toilet and shower (not very private). Other than that it was perfect. the grounds are getting there, I think in a year they will be much better, lots of water features through out the resort. The maid service was great, just check the back of the card by the phone and it will tell you the time frame that your room will be cleaned, ours was 10 am to 1 pm and it was done every day during that time frame. The food was great lots of variety, I am a salad person and can not complain about that section, 3 or 4 different lettuce's and plenty of other items. We went to 3 ala carte restaurants. We were not that impressed with the Asian or Italian, but the adult ala carte (Mareas) was great (we went twice). Get the steak it is amazing. Also the restaurant by the lobby bar is very good. The Caesar salad is big and the steak is great here also. Everyone was friendly and polite, no complaints here especially Wilin Amador from the Timon and adult only bar. Just one complaint that was the wrist bands that have a chip to unlock your door. Twice we had problems and had to get the front desk to rest them. All and all a great resort and had a great time. .

Very Nice Resort with tons of Potential
We were very skeptical about going to this resort as the reviews right up until our stay were very mixed. Despite not being totally finished, this resort will be beautiful when finished, the boulevard is not yet complete which meant there was not a lot to do in the evenings - they are getting there. They still need to do some work with service levels, it took over six hours to get our room, when we finally did get our room we entered it only to find out it was occupied, they moved us to another room. We asked for an iron to be sent to the room every day and kept being told they will send it over to us - they never did. All-in-all we managed. I think the reps at Tripcentral should be better informed when it comes to newer hotels, it would have been nice to have a little more information from the rep in order to help make a decision - not their fault. In speaking to some people that booked through Sunwing, they were made aware of what stage the hotel was at as well as some of the negetive press the Dominican Republic has recently been getting and where given the choice to continue on with their vacation to Lopesan Bavaro or change it to another destination - this was not part of any insurance plan. Overall it was a very nice resort, very nice pools, great decor, food was excellent and most importantly the weather was great. We would definately consider returning to this resort in a couple of years when it is all done.

While a very beautiful hotel with some amazing food, this hotel needs work to be considered 5 star quality. The hotel had a mould problem and did not have the boulevard ready which was disappointing since that was a big selling point for us. There were several minor problems like power outages, items missing in the room and lack of signage in the resort made some things difficult. The staff seemed overwhelmed trying to fix all problems so hopefully more staff will be hired soon.
