| 2 | Tucson - San Carlos, Mexico En route to San Carlos, you will stop at the Mission of San Xavier del Bac, built in the eighteenth century. Cross the Mexican border near the popular city of Nogales and continue through the beautiful Sonora Desert to the Sea of Cortez. Your luxury beachfront resort is located next to the setting for the movie ^Catch 22.^ (B, D) |
| 3 | San Carlos This morning you will have the opportunity to do some shopping for ironwood carvings; or perhaps you would prefer an optional half-day fishing excursion. Following an afternoon at leisure you may purchase an optional sunset cruise, followed by dinner. (B) |
| 4 | San Carlos - El Fuerte Today you will feel as if you've stepped back in time as you visit the beautiful colonial city of El Fuerte. This colorful settlement was founded by the Spaniards in 1564, and sits gracefully in the foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains. Before dinner, Collette guests will be treated to a memorable folkloric show. (B, D) |
| 5 | El Fuerte - Cerocahui Today you travel on the Chihuahua-Pacifico Railroad for an awe-inspiring journey that will take you through numerous tunnels and over countless bridges. Upon arrival in Buahuichivo, a bus transports you via a mountain road to the village of Cerocahui. Shortly after arriving at your hotel, you may take an optional tour to the Urique Canyon overlook. Here you will see the very bottom of the canyon, where the Urique River flows past the sleepy gold rush town of Urique - some 6,136 feet below. (B, L, D) |
| 6 | Cerocahui - Copper Canyon You may take a walking tour through the mission school and the Mission Church founded in 1690 before returning to the train station for the brief ride to Posada Barrancas, where you will behold beautiful views of the Copper Canyon. (B, L, D) |
| 7 | Copper Canyon Today you will have the opportunity to experience the Tarahumara's fascinating culture first hand. Many tribal members will perform right in front of you - see their traditional dance, tribal games and a foot race demonstration. You may choose an optional tour of the area called Divisadero. Visit the small church, the balancing rock and enjoy spectacular views of the canyon. Later you will have some leisure time to explore this beautiful region. (B, L, D) |
| 8 | Copper Canyon - Creel - Chihuahua Board your bus for a fascinating trip to the town of Creel, one of the largest towns in the Copper Canyon area, standing a towering 7,874 feet above sea level. Next, you visit the Mennonite settlement of Cuahtemoc where you will enjoy a homemade lunch before arriving in Chihuahua. (B, L, D) |
| 9 | Chihuahua - El Paso, Texas Embark on a tour of Chihuahua, featuring the home of famous Mexican Revolutionary leader Pancho Villa, a tour of the state capitol building, and many other highlights.
