Overnight flight to Rome.
2Arrive Rome
Make your own way to our hotel in Rome. This evening meet your Tour Manager and fellow travelers at the hotel at 6.00pm for a welcome drink.
3Rome to Florence
This morning, we head to Pisa to see the Leaning Tower before heading to Renaissance Florence. Upon our arrival, our local expert guide takes us on a walking tour of the Duomo, Piazza della Signoria, Basillica of Santa Croce and Giotto's belltower. Enjoy a demonstration of Florentine leathercraft. Tonight, an opportunity to join your Tour Manager for an optional Tuscan meal. (B)
4Florence sightseeing - Flight to Sicily
Today is free for you to explore Florence. Visit one of the many museums or galleries including the Uffizi, the Accademia home to Michelangelo's statue of David or the Bargello devoted to Florentine Renaissance Sculpture. Alternatively, sit in a cafe and watch the world go by or enjoy the shopping. This evening we transfer you to the airport for your flight to Sicily. (B,D)
5Acireale, Sicily
This morning, depart for Mount Etna. Etna remains an active volcano and is a spectacular sight . Why not take the funicular ride to 2,500 meters (conditions permitting) for the best view. Later, we drive to the chic seaside resort of Taormina where you will be able to see the amphitheatre, check out the shopping or stroll along the coastline. (B,D)
6Acireale - Excursion to Siracusa
Siracusa is our first stop this morning and your chance to see the Duomo and wander the old town. Later, we drive to Noto to view this baroque city, probably the most famous in Sicily. Tonight, join us for dinner in Catania at one of the oldest restaurants in town, famous for local specialities and afterwards sample the local nightlife. (B)
7Acireale to Palermo
After breakfast, we drive to Piazza Armerina, a large Roman villa and famous for its mosaics. We continue to Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples. A visit to Sicily would be incomplete without a visit to see these amazingly preserved Greek temples from 5th century BC. Dinner tonight is at the hotel. (B,D)
8Palermo sightseeing
Our local guide who will take you through the historical periods of Palermo's history including its amazing Baroque monuments. But Palermo is a city to just wander the streets, be captivated by the atmosphere or maybe visit one of its excellent museums. Whatever you choose, don't forget to try the sicilian ice cream 'cassata siciliana' - bellisimo! Later, we visit Monreale with fantastic views overlooking the whole valley. A chance to enjoy lunch and enjoy a sicilian puppet show - with audience participation of course!! Tonight, enjoy the exciting city of Palermo. (B)
9Palermo to Naples
Today, you can choose to spend more time in Palermo or we take you to a spectacular local beach for the day to relax before returning to Palermo for the overnight ferry to Naples. (B,D)
10Naples - Excursion to isle of Capri / Amalfi coast
Our ferry arrives into Naples early in the morning. After disembarking, we take a short fast ferry ride to the island of Capri. A chance to explore the Blue Grotto, swim in the crystal clear waters or take the funicular to the cliff top Anacapri. Later, we take a cruise along the stunning coast of Amalfi, best viewed from the sea. (B,D)
11Naples- Excursion to Sorrento
We drive to Sorrento, a cliff top resort. Explore the town or relax in a Piazza café before we return to Naples with free time to explore the city. This evening, an opportunity for an optional meal out in Naples. (B)
12Naples to Rome
We drive to Pompeii for your included guided tour of this ancient city destroyed by Vesuvius. Later, we return to the eternal city of Rome for our orientation tour including the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. An opportunity for you, together with a local guide, to discover the ancient ruins of Rome and maybe in your free time see Michelangelo's ceiling in the Sistine Chapel. (B,D)
13Rome sightseeing
Today is your chance to further explore Rome. Perhaps take an excursion to view the gardens of Tivoli, once a retirement town for the wealthy Romans but now known for the spectacular gardens and waterfalls of the once grand villas. Alternatively, you may wish to stroll the Piazza's, eat a gelati and watch the world go by. This evening, join us for our farewell dinner. (B)
14Depart Rome - Return
Your tour ends after breakfast, swop addresses and say goodbye to new friends. (B) Make your own way to the airport for your return flight to Canada.
