| 1 | Depart Overnight flight to Istanbul |
| 2 | Arrive Istanbul Hos Geldinez - welcome to Turkey. Our representative will meet you at Istanbul airport and arrange the transfer to your hotel. Time to explore at leisure before meeting your Tour Manager for a 'welcome drink' in the hotel. |
| 3 | Istanbul Sightseeing Our full day sightseeing tour includes the mosque of Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent, and the Blue Mosque. Later visit St Sophia, originally a church and now a mosque, and the Byzantine Hippodrome and Topkapi Palace, the great palace of the Ottoman Sultans. Also see the Egyptian Spice Market - an old traditional market. (B) |
| 4 | Istanbul to Canakkale First a drive along the sea of Marmara to the Gallipoli Peninsula, where so many Australians, New Zealanders and Allied Troops lost their lives in WW1. We see Anzac Cove and visit Lone Pine Cemetery. Then cross the Dardanelles waterway by ferry boat to Canakkale. (B,D) |
| 5 | Canakkale to Kusadasi Southwards to the ruins of Troy where Greek and Trojan heroes fought the Trojan War for the honour of the beautiful Helen. Continuing south we arrive at ancient Pergamum, once a powerful city and the ruler of Asia Minor, before continuing past Izmir, the birthplace of Homer, and onto the resort town of Kusadasi on the Aegean Coast. | 6 | Kusadasi to Pamukkale After breakfast, we depart for St Mary's House, where the Virgin Mary is supposed to have spent her last days. Then travel to Ephesus, one of the best preserved ancient cities in the world. We continue onto Pamukkale for our overnight stay. Enjoy a leisurely bath in your hotel's mineral spa bath tonight. | 7 | Pamukkale to Antalya We start the day by visiting Pamukkale, Turkish for 'cotton castle'. This amazing landscape was formed by the limestone laden water of the thermal springs. Later, visit the ruins of the ancient city, Hierapolis - a Roman health spa before continuing onto Antalya on the 'Turquoise Coast'. (B,D) |
| 8 | Antalya at Leisure Relax on the beach today, explore the bazaars of the old city and its original harbour. Why not take our full day optional excursion to explore the Roman cities of Perge, Side and Aspendos or our boat cruise along the Turquoise Coast. (B,D) |
| 9 | Antalya to Cappadocia First through the forests of the Taurus Mountains, then olive groves and onto the arid Anatolian highlands. We reach Konya - and visit the Convent of the Whirling Dervishes - before heading for Biblical Cappadocia. (B,D) |
| 10 | Cappadocia Sightseeing An unforgettable day of sightseeing of Cappadocia, with its a moon-like landscape. Visit Göreme, with its rock chapels and Byzantine frescoes, and the underground city of Kaymakli. Before dinner tonight, perhaps take the opportunity to have a real Turkish Bath. (B,D) |
| 11 | Cappadocia to Ankara Why not experience the thrill of an early morning optional balloon ride over the region of Cappadocia. After breakfast, we depart for Ankara, the capital of the Turkish republic. On route, visit the 13th century Seljuk Caravansaray of Agzikarahan. Upon arrival in Ankara, visit the mausoleum of Atatürk, the father of modern Turkey. Then onto the Museum of Anatolian Civilisations before settling into our hotel. (B) |
| 12 | Ankara to Istanbul This morning, we depart for Istanbul and arrive early afternoon. Your chance to visit the Grand Bazaar and to shop in this ancient market place. The rest of the day is yours to explore this fascinating city where East and Western cultures meet. This evening do not miss the chance to join in an optional dinner and evening of Turkish belly dancing and entertainment. (B) |
