| 2 | CAIRO AT LEISURE Welcome to Egypt! We are met at Cairo airport and transferred to our hotel. Hotel: Cairo Sheraton. |
| 3 | PYRAMIDS EXCURSION First we visit the Egyptian Museum to see the treasures of Tutankhamun. We then drive to Memphis, where a statue of Rameses II and alabaster Sphinx await. At nearby Sakkara, we see the Step Pyramid of Zoser I, oldest in the world. Now we visit the great pyramids at Giza and their guardian, the Sphinx. (BB) |
| 4 | CAIRO - ASWAN This morning we fly to Aswan where there's an option of taking a fabulous excursion to Abu Simbel (see page 109). Hotel: Oberoi Aswan. (BB) |
| 5 | ASWAN - CRUISING This morning we travel by motorboat to the Temples of Philae, rising from the waters of the Nile. We continue to the modern Aswan High Dam. We also see the unfinished obelisk in the granite quarries, before boarding our Nile cruiser in time for lunch. (BB,L,D) |
| 6 | CRUISING - EDFU Relax this morning as we enjoy a ride around the Aswan Botanical Gardens on a traditional Nile felucca. Then we set sail for Kom Ombo. Here we visit the Temple of Sobek, the crocodile-headed god, appropriately situated on the banks of the Nile. Now sit back and enjoy the ever changing scenery of the Nile as we continue our cruise to Edfu. (BB,L,D) |
| 7 | CRUISING - LUXOR First we visit the the beautifully preserved Temple of Horus, the Falcon God. After exploring this fascinating site, we cruise through Esna lock to visit Luxor Temple. Tonight, we enjoy a fun filled Egyptian Dinner and Galabea Party. (BB,L,D) |
| 8 | LUXOR - CAIRO An early visit this morning to the West Bank. We cross the Nile to see the huge Colossi of Memnon. We then visit Queen Hatshepsut's temple, before continuing to the Valley of the Kings, where many of the Pharaohs were entombed. Back in Luxor, we tour the Karnak Temple, with its vast Hypostyle Hall and avenue of sphinxes. Now we fly back to Cairo. Perhaps celebrate our last night in Egypt with a farewell dinner?
