| 3 | COPENHAGEN - OVERNIGHT CRUISE This morning we greet the Little Mermaid, then visit Christiansborg Palace, see Town Hall Square, Grundtvig's church, Amalienborg Palace and the Stock Exchange. Time now to shop on the Strøget, before boarding our Danish Seaways ship. Enjoy a superb Danish smorgasbord dinner then a good night's sleep in our well appointed two-berth cabins. (BB,D) |
| 4 | GDANSK SIGHTSEEING A hearty breakfast on board before our tour of Gdansk. We visit the Westerplatte memorial, where World War II began. We tour the old town from the golden gateway to the Town Hall. Next we see the 'great mill' enduring symbol of Gdansk, and visit the Madonna of Gdansk in the Church of our Lady. This afternoon is at leisure in the nearby Baltic beach resort of Sopot, then we return to Gdansk. Hotel: Holiday Inn. (BB) |
| 5 | GDANSK - SVETLOGORSK Eastward along the 'Amber Coast' to Frombork where we see the Copernicus Tower Observatory and visit the museum. Now to the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad. Our sightseeing tour shows us Dohna Tower, old Stock Exchange and German Cathedral. Now we visit the fascinating Amber Museum and hear the mystery of the fabulous 'Amber Room'. We stay tonight in the resort of Svetlogorsk, a near perfect German time capsule from the 1930's.Hotel: Russ. (BB,D) |
| 6 | SVETLOGORSK - RIGA We enter the Kurskaya Kasa Nature Reserve to drive north along the narrow sand spit, separating the Baltic Sea from the Kurskaya Zaliv fresh water bay. We reach the Lithuanian border and continue to Klaipeda, before turning inland to visit Siauliai. We see the astonishing Votive Hill of Crosses and then cross the Latvian border to the capital Riga. | 7 | RIGA - OVERNIGHT TRAIN Our tour of the historic old town shows us the city walls, and we visit the Domkirk. The quaint House of the Three Brothers is the oldest in Latvia and nearby stands the Swedish Gate and castle of the Livonian Knights. This evening, we transfer to Riga Railway Station to board our comfortable first class sleeper train bound for St. Petersburg. (BB,D) |
| 8 | ST PETERSBURG Our sightseeing tour visits the fortress of St Peter and Paul, St Isaac's Cathedral, the cruiser, 'Aurora', and the memorial to the siege of Leningrad during World War II. We also see the splendid cathedral of Kazan, then tour the spectacular Hermitage, one of the world's greatest museums. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore at our own pace. | 9 | ST PETERSBURG Today we visit the fabulous gardens and fountains of Peter the Great's summer residence at Petrodvorets. Tonight, we enjoy a canal cruise including a highlight dinner of Russian specialties accompanied by traditional musicians. (BB, HD) |

| 11 | ST.PETERSBURG - TALLINN A reluctant farewell to St.Petersburg as we turn west this morning to reach the town of Narva dominated by mighty Hermannsburg fortress. The river Narva at this point forms the border with Estonia and we are soon on our way to our hotel in Tallinn the elegant capital. Hotel: Reval Olympia. (BB,L,D) |
| 12 | TALLINN - OVERNIGHT CRUISE We tour the quaint old town including the market square with its old German Weighing House, Pharmacy and Gothic Town Hall. The energetic will wish to walk up Toompea Hill to the castle and Alexander Nevsky Russian Orthodox Cathedral - but don't miss the shops for fine amber and silver jewellry! Later we transfer to the port of Paldiski for the overnight cruise to Sweden. (BB) |
| 13 | STOCKHOLM With our local guide we visit the City Hall to view the legendary Gold Chamber, venue for the Nobel Prize banquets. Next we see the amazingly preserved 17th century warship 'Wasa' resurrected from the seabed, then broad Gustave Adolph Square and the National Opera House. Next we visit the 'City between the bridges', the old centre of Stockholm, where stands the imposing baroque Royal Palace and Parliament House. Now time at leisure. | 14 | STOCKHOLM Today is at leisure to explore the 'City of Islands' at our own pace. Perhaps stroll from Stortorget marketplace to the Old Town. This evening, why not try some authentic local cuisine served in traditional surroundings? (BB) |
| 15 | STOCKHOLM - COPENHAGEN South today along the shores of Lake Vattern and on to Halsingborg for a short ferry crossing to Elsinore in Denmark, where stands Prince Hamlet's Kronborg castle. Now back to Copenhagen. Hotel: Phoenix. (BB) |
