Day #Description
1Arrive Boston
Arrival in Boston by 5.00pm. Your Tour Director is available 1.00-6.00pm to provide information and answer questions. The rest of your day is at leisure to explore historic Boston from our conviently-located hotel.
2Boston - Fredericton
We travel briefly along the New England coast before we head inland through the woodlands of Maine. We may get a view of Mount Katahdin, the northern end of the Appalachian Trail. We cross the border into New Brunswick, then stop where the St. John and Mactaquac Rivers meet. At historic Kings Landing, once home to British Loyalists, we enjoy a welcome drink followed by our first specialty dinner at a loyalist banquet. After this memorable experience we return to our hotel for the night. (AB) (HD)
3Fredericton - Charlottetown (2)
We start the day with a relaxing cruise on the St. John River before exploring Fredericton, New Brunswick's capital, which was settled by British Loyalists in 1783. Here our tour will include views of the University of New Brunswick, one of Canada's oldest universities, the Provincial Legislature Building and old Christ Church Cathedral. We leave Fredericton and travel through Moncton on our way to Prince Edward Island. We cross the Northumberland Strait via the dramatic, eight-mile long Confederation Bridge. We'll spend two nights in Charlottetown, capital of Prince Edward Island. This evening, dinner is at our hotel, followed by a sunset stroll along the boardwalk. (AB D)
4Charlottetown sightseeing
Our morning starts with a sightseeing tour of the Island. We drive up to the north shore to see Prince Edward Island National Park, with its varied landscapes and wildlife, along the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Then we visit Cavendish where we tour the Green Gables farmhouse and museum, the setting of Lucy Maud Montgomery's popular novel ^Anne of Green Gables.^ The remainder of the day is at leisure. (AB)
5Charlottetown - Baddeck (2)
Our journey today takes us to Wood Island to board our ferry to Caribou, Nova Scotia. On through New Glasgow and cross the Strait of Canso via the Canso Causeway. En route to Baddeck enjoy the scenic drive along the Bras d'Or Lakes, one of the world's largest inland seas. Perhaps we will spot a bald eagle as this is a major nesting area. On arrival in Baddeck we will visit the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site and Museum to see many of Bell's artifacts and personal mementos. (AB D)
6Cabot Trail Excursion
Today we follow the Cabot Trail, explored by the Englishman John Cabot in the late 15th century. Our local expert guide will stop in the Acadian village of Cheticamp, known for its hooked rugs. Then we'll continue the trail to Cape Breton Highlands National Park, where deep-walled canyons, sandy beaches and majestic cliffs are found. Later, we return to Baddeck and a chance to walk along the shores of the Bras d'Or. (AB)
7Baddeck - Halifax (2)
Our day starts with a journey back to mainland Nova Scotia. We stop at pretty Peggy's Cove and enjoy the scenic views of the rocky shore and the quaint lighthouse. There's time to pull out your camera and take some memorable pictures! Afterwards, we continue to the provincial capital, Halifax arriving late afternoon. Tonight, dinner is at our hotel. (AB D)
8Halifax sightseeing
Today we explore this historic city with a local expert guide, who points out sights such as the Citadel, a large star-shaped masonry fort that was built to protect the city and the Public Gardens. We will also see Dalhousie University, plus the world's second largest natural harbor and learn about the link between Halifax and the sinking of the Titanic. Then time at leisure to relax or explore on your own. (AB)
9Halifax - Saint John
Today we skirt the shores of the Bay of Fundy stopping at Fort Beausejour National Historic Site. We see the ruins of an 18th century military installation used during France and England's efforts to control this area. Next, we stop at Shepody Bay to visit the spectacular Hopewell Rocks, flowerpot islands carved by the world's highest tides. If time permits we'll stop at the Interpretation Centre. Then, we drive along the scenic coast of Chignecto Bay and inland forests of Fundy National Park. From here we make our way inland to historic Saint John for dinner and our overnight stay. (AB D)
10Saint John - Bar Harbor - Acadia National Park
On to St. Stephen this morning, with time to purchase some world-famous chocolate before we cross the border back into the United States. After lunch in Bar Harbor we continue to Acadia National Park. We explore the lovely, scenic coastline of this National Park and stop atop Cadillac Mountain, the highest point on the New England coast, to enjoy the spectacular panoramic vista. The day ends with our return to Bar Harbor where we enjoy a traditional lobster bake dinner. (AB) (HD)
11Bar Harbor - Depart Boston
Enjoy a last look at the varied New England countryside before we reach Massachusetts again. This afternoon our tour ends on arrival at Boston Logan Airport at approximately 5.00pm. stop will also be made at Omni Parker House hotel. (AB)|Please do not schedule any flights prior to 6.30pm
