1Arrive Boston
Welcome to Boston! A complimentary transfer is provided to your Trafalgar hotel. Your Tour Director is at the hotel this afternoon to greet you and answer your questions. Join us at 6:00pm for aWelcome Reception at the hotel.
2Boston – Maine Coast – Bar Harbor (2 nights)
Heading north, we travel through Portsmouth, New Hampshire, into the state of Maine. We then journey along the state's scenic shoreline, offering a glimpse into its rich past in whaling, shipbuilding and lobstering. The quaint villages along the way typify quintessential New England. We then cross a narrow spit of land to Mount Desert Island and the seaside town of Bar Harbor for our two-night stay. This evening join your fellow travelers for a New England Lobster Bake! (Full Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)
3Acadia National Park excursion & Bar Harbor at leisure
This morning we explore beautiful Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park, the only national park in New England. Its wooded roads offer views of quiet ponds and rocky beaches, highlighted by the blaze of autumn colors. A stop at the top of Cadillac Mountain provides us with sweeping views of the park, Bar Harbor and the islands of Frenchman's Bay. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore Bar Harbor – maybe take an optional nature cruise, go whale watching, or simply relax in this quaint village. (Full Breakfast)
4Bar Harbor – Pinkham Notch – North Conway
Leaving the Maine coast we turn inland and travel through the colorful woodlands of maples, birch and sumac. Entering New Hampshire, we stop at Pinkham Notch for a gondola ride to the top of Wildcat Mountain with incredible views of the White Mountains. We spend the night in the town of North Conway, a popular year-round resort. After dinner enjoy a presentation on the flora and fauna of the White Mountains.(Full Breakfast / Dinner)
5North Conway – Ludlow
Traverse the White Mountains today. As you make your way through forests of sugar maple, mountain ash and white birch, keep your eyes open for native black bear, moose, deer and the dozens of species of birds that call this area home. Crossing into Vermont, spot the traditional wooden covered bridges, thick forests and rolling fields of the Green Mountain State. Stop at a historic woolen mill that now houses the Simon Pearce glassblowing workshop. Enjoy a Be My Guest Lunch featuring local ingredients and delicately arranged on Simon Pearce's beautiful stem and flatware. Later, delve into the art and science of glassblowing before continuing to the picturesque village of Ludlow and your mountain retreat. (Full Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
6Woodstock
Enjoy a day on the back roads of Vermont. Get a glimpse of agricultural life at the Billings Farm & Museum, a lovely estate that’s home to one of Vermont’s finest dairy producers. Woodstock has been called “the prettiest small town in America”— a leisurely stroll around the beautiful village green, see an old-fashioned covered bridge or check out some of the local art galleries. Continue your journey through rural Vermont with a visit to Plymouth and the childhood home of Calvin Coolidge, the 30th president of the United States. Enjoy the rest of your afternoon at leisure in Ludlow. (Full Breakfast )
7Ludlow – Springfield
From the Green Mountains, cross back into Massachusetts and the gorgeous Berkshires, alight in autumn with the fall colors that have made New England famous. Stop in Stockbridge to visit the Norman Rockwell Museum and learn about this beloved artist and his iconic paintings of small-town Americana. Continue on to Springfield, nestled on the banks of the Connecticut River. This evening, join your Tour Director and newfound friends for a festive Farewell Dinner. (Full Breakfast / Farewell Dinner)
8Springfield – Lexington & Concord – Depart Boston
Our journey this morning takes us into the heart of Revolutionary War history with a visit to the towns of Lexington and Concord,made famous in Longfellow's poem about “Paul Revere's Ride.” It was in these two small villages that in April 1775 the first shots of the American Revolution were fired. We also see the Minuteman Statue, Concord Bridge and Lexington Green before returning to Boston. A complimentary transfer is provided to Boston International Airport and the Trafalgar hotel in Boston for passengers extending their stay. (Full Breakfast)
