anything out of Winnipeg Amanda?
Hi Derek,
Unfortunately there are no packages from Winnipeg to the Royal Decameron Los Cabos at this time. However, we offer other Mexico vacations departing from Winnipeg. If you’re not set on Mexico, here you can find all other vacation packages from Winnipeg.
just booking for dec21 any updates on the resort?
I see photos of a beach area but not sure if it is part of the resort. Ive been told that you cant go swimming in the Ocean due to the undertow.
Hi Joe,
There is a private beach area that guests have access to with umbrellas and cabanas, a beach bar, and a volleyball court. There is a strong undertow in many of the Los Cabos beaches making them unsuitable for swimming, including this one.
There are some swimming beaches: Medano Beach is the safest in Cabo. It spans several kilometers along Cabo Bay. Chileno Beach is popular for diving and snorkeling because of the great underwater visibility and excellent swimming conditions.
Part of Cabo’s appeal is the ability to leave the resorts and discover the cities as well as lounging by the waters.
Enjoy your vacation!
Is it possible to go into the ocean say, waist-deep, or not at all?
Hello,
There are flags on the beach that indicate if the water is safe to enter. Green gives you the go-ahead, yellow means proceed with caution, and a red flag indicates not to enter.
There is a swimmable beach only about a five minute walk away.
Hope this helps!
What is the departure price feb 13 or 14th from hamilton,
Thanks
Hi Diana,
Departures are on Saturdays. Right now, the rate for February 15 for 7 days in a garden or pool view room is $1369 per person. An oceanview room is $1439.
Hi Amanda, just read your reply above. Would you be able to provide the name of the swimmable beach that is locate five minutes away as we have not been able to locate one or obtain this information and thank you.

Thank you Amanda but I was inquiring on the name of the beach that you mention is a five minute walk.

Hi Amanda,
Nice looking hotel and non-stop from Hamilton, reasonably priced. Original resort closed in June, Royal Decameron to open in December, looking at January to book, will it be ready?
Thanks
Hi John,
The opening date is December 20 and the first guests will arrive on December 21. It will definitely be ready by then!
I would be curious as to where you actually obtained the photos you posted because we just returned and it is far from fact of what it actually looks like.. These must be rendered or another royal decameron..
Amanda, can you respond to this. Thx
The photos embedded within the post are rendered as are the first group of photos at the bottom. The second group of photos at the bottom were actually taken by our agents when they toured the property before its opening.
It’s been open for a few years…..not sure why they are saying it’s a new resort….I was there last March…..it’s a great small resort….good food and service….we loved it.
Were you able to go in the water at all? I didn’t realize the water was so dangerous until after I booked. 🙁
Hi Amanda,
I’m planning a Bachelorette Party and plan on being in Cabo from 12/31/13 to 01/04/14. Would you recommend this hotel? and will the pool be accessible? What does the all inclusive entail? Are the any packages or rooms recommended for a party of 7 girls.
Thanks,
Hi,
The all-inclusive plan includes all meals and a la carte dinners, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, access to the swimming pool, chairs and towels, daily and nightly entertainment programs, and the open-bar disco. Rooms are available with two double beds or one king sized bed and a sofa-bed. This is an elegant hotel with stylish rooms and restaurants, and there is a spa on-site as well (treatments are available at an additional charge).
The hotel is located in the San Jose del Cabo area of Los Cabos. It’s more laid back than the Cabo San Lucas area, which is known for its party atmosphere. San Jose del Cabo is approximately 30 kms from Cabo San Lucas. Buses run at about 20 minute intervals for $27 pesos ($2.70 USD) for a one-way trip per person. Taxis rides are about $10 per person per ride.
Here are some great nightlife options you might want to check out:
Baja Brewing Company
Cabo Wabo
El Squid Roe
Hard Rock Café
Mandala Food & Wine Club
Mango Deck
Nowhere Bar
Passion Club
Pink Kitty
The Giggling marlin
You may also want to speak with an agent who has been to Los Cabos and can provide you with more detail! (1-800-665-4981)
Have fun!!
Do you know if this is now geared towards adults, families or both? This used to be adults only, nice if you’re traveling without kids…
Royal Decameron Los Cabos
Hi Matt,
Desires was an adult-only resort but Royal Decameron Los Cabos is catered to both families and adults.
Hi, We are planning a trip to Cabo with 5 other families with 2 kids each. We’ve been to Cabo many times, but interested in this new property. Can you tell me a few things:
1. Will the rooms accommodate 2 adults and 2 kids?
2. What is the Kids club like?
3. How many a-la-carte restaurants are on the property?
4. Is this geared towards families with kids or would that not really be appropriate given the size (153 rooms)?
Thanks!
Hi Jake,
1.Yes, the rooms with two double beds will accomodate families of four.
2.The supervised kids program is for children aged 4 to 12. There are organized games and activities.
3.There are two a la carte restaurants- Mediterranean and Asian Fusion. Reservations are required and can be made twice per week. There is also a buffet and snack bar.
4.While this is an intimate resort, it is a family resort as well. The kids club and entertainment programme (pool games, sports, etc.) all cater to children too.
Hi Amanda, We are planning a trip in feb and deciding on staying at Royal Decameron LC or anther hotel with kitchenetts. Do you have sample menus from the restaurants or examples of buffet?
Hi Adam,
I don’t have sample menus at the moment but I have asked the resort and can email you at the address you used to comment when I learn more.
Thanks!
I am booked for Christmas week and want to email the hotel with some questions about airport transfers etc. but can’t seem to find an email for them. Do you have one?
Thanks!
Hi Lorraine,
Here is the Mexico contact information listed on their website:
Toll Free: 01 800 011 11 11
Email : ventasweb.mexico@decameron.com
However, I’m sure our agents would be able to answer any questions you have!
We arrive Dec 24. Certainly hope hotel is ready & not undergoing construction??? Curious why we weren’t told hotel not open until Dec 20. Very worried that it won’t meet our expectations??? Is it still on schedule?
Hi Marylou,
We have been very excited about the new resort and have been transparent about its construction so I apologize that you weren’t notified.
One of our agents has just returned and the renovations are on schedule and looking great!
Is the hotel ready for gursts arriving dec 21?
Hi Lorraine,
The hotel will be ready for guests arriving on Dec. 21.
Hi Amanda — thinking of coming down Dec. 21 (opening week) — any possibility of posting pics that show a ‘real’ life view of what the actual hotel and facilities look like currently…
Hi Sheri,
I’ve added some more photos that I received November 25 after two of our agents returned from their visit.
Thank you do u have any updated pictures that we can see
Hi Lorraine,
I’ve added some more photos that I received November 25 after two of our agents returned from their visit.
I emailed the address that you blogged and have not heard any response from them. Do you have another email to teach the hotel at?
Your agent will be able to contact the hotel for you. Do you have any specific questions I can help you with?
I was wondering how much the wifi surcharge will be and if they provide airport transportation.
Thanks
Did you get the information on pricing for the WiFi? Emailed the resort but no reply yet.
Hi Jason,
I apologize, I don’t have an exact price to give you. I was advised by an agent that it’s about $5.00 USD per day- but don’t quote me on this.
Hi Amanda,
Just booked this lovely resort this morning and we are looking forward to our arrival on December 21, 2013. Could you send me some updated pictures of the renovations. I am worried it won’t be ready on time for our arrival. Thank You
Hi Lisa,
I’ve added photos to the bottom of this post. The second set are recent photos of the rennovations coming along.
Do you know the special guest rates for Golf and which courses are available at special rates?
Hi Amanda,
We are planning a trip for March and I am very interested in this hotel. The fact it is so brand new is both a pro and a con, the con being that there are no reviews to go off of. I was wondering if you had any insight into the all inclusive pricing, if I wait a few more weeks until there have been guests at the hotel who hopefully post a review, is the price likely to go up?
Thanks,
Geoff
Hi Geoff,
The prices are constantly fluctuating with supply and demand. My best advice would be to keep checking our website to scope out the range and once you find a price you’re comfortable with, book it before it rises.
March is still the busy season for travel so there are no guarantees that if you book last-minute it will be cheaper. Our agents can also contact you with price increases and decreases as they keep an eye out using our price alert system.
Does resort have shuttle from airport? If not, what do you suggest for transfer from airport…taxi, bus?
Hi Marylou,
It depends on the tour operator you booked with- so check with your travel agent. If your tour operator provides a shuttle in their package, it will be waiting for you right outside of the airport.
Amanda, from looking at reviews when it was the Desire, it appears as if there was only showers in the rooms. Are they full baths now or still only showers?
Thanks…….Dave
Hi David,
The rooms only have showers.
My mom and I have booked the Royal Decameron Los Cabos for January 2014. Could you give me an idea as to what type of excursions are available in this area? This will be our first visit to this area. Thanks!
Hi Karen,
The hotel is located in San Jose del Cabo, a quiet area with cobblestone streets and colonial buildings. Here, you may explore art galleries, boutiques, and outdoor patios. There is a dolphin aquarium and golf course just minutes away. The Art Walk on Thursday evenings is a night filled with crafts, dining, music, and mingling. You may also take a trip to visit other spas and beaches.
The eco-tourism options in Los Cabos are plentiful. You may hike along trails, mountain bike, horseback ride, whale watch, fish, and visit marine parks. ATV rides through the forest and desert landscapes are exciting while a visit to the glass factory is the perfect place for souvenirs. Many people like to visit the iconic rock formation in Cabo San Lucas also known as Land’s End. And, of course, there are many famous golf courses.
Enjoy & let me know your feedback!
Hi Amanda. You had mentioned that this was clothing optional previously, however is now family oriented. Is it still clothing optional or (hopefully) did this change when it became a Royal Decameron?
Much thanks.
Dave
Hi Dave,
This did change. There is no topless beach at the resort.
Hi Amanda. Did resort open yesterday? Does anyone have comments about first day there?
Just returned Jan 28.he Hotel is not complete. We spent a week there, listening to construction all day. There is no functional bathrooms in the lobby or near the eating areas. One small ladys bathroom and one small mens bathroom located in building near rooms, but still a walk from the pool or beach area. Buffet was great, but as far as two other a la carte restaurants, there is a nice “snack bar” by the pool..which they claim as their Mediteranian Restaurant.. but that’s it. The main pool is heated….ah …very nice. The activities staff was great! Conclusion… will be nice when its finished. But I would wait at least 6 months.
Hello,
Thank you so much for your post. It’s great to hear from people who have experienced it recently. I hope you enjoyed your vacation nonetheless. If you have any further feedback, please let me know!
Amanda,
Do you know if the issues mentioned in Zoltan post was resolved?
Trish
Hi Trish, from what I’ve heard, all of the issues are ironed out. You can see Peggy’s post below (she just returned) and feedback is all positive on Trip Advisor!
On-going construction? That’s too bad – one assumes that an opening day (Dec. 21) would mean that construction has subsided. My mom and I have booked an arrival of January 11/14…
Well, at least the food sounds good and I assume the rooms are well-presented? How was the beach area? That is one of the main reasons I take vacations. I understand that the ocean = undertow there. Thanks – Karen
Hi,
I just returned from the resort on December 28th as well. The beach is just OK. It has very dark sand and you can’t swim in the water. There was a lot of noise at night and it was difficult to fall asleep with all the partying. The front desk manager was rude and disorganized. No beach volleyball because the poles and net had not arrived. I would not recommend and will not return. Now I know why the package was so cheap.
Hi Lisa:
After reading your review, I am a bit anxious. I am taking my mom (73 yrs.) and we can tolerate some noise, but was the partying all week???? How was the food??? PLEASE reply.
Just ask for a room far away from evening entertainment. Our room was directly above & yes it was loud but good music. We didn’t think it was a big “partying” resort…most nights it was quiet by 11 pm.
We spent Xmas week at the resort & we loved it! It is a small resort which we like. Didn’t find it excessively noisy…there are about 2 hrs of great music in the evenings. We only had one night we didn’t get much sleep, but that day a big group of fellow Canadians arrived & well let’s say they were very “excited” into the wee hrs! I think you would experience that at any resort. My husband & I are in our late 50’s & not exactly big partiers. The music/bands in the evenings were excellent & worth seeing! There is lots of variety in the food at the buffet & a very good Mediterranean restaurant. Hope that helps! We would definitely return!
Hi Karen, I hope you and your mom arrived safely and found this place to be all you hoped it to be. If you get a chance, Please post any comments. I am trying to decide on this resort for this month.
Thanks!! Happy Birthday to your mom.
Trish
Thank you so much for all the positive replies and helpful input. I just need to know if there are safes in the rooms for valuables?
Karen
Hi Karen,
Yes there are safes in the rooms.
Hi Amanda, Thank you for all this wonderful information. We are going to the resort Jan. 25 for a week — and I can’t wait to get a break from winter. My question : Do you have any insight as to the smoking policy of the resort? I know there is no smoking in the rooms or lobby but what about the balconies?
Hi Susan,
This is a non-smoking resort, including the rooms and the balcony is an extension of the room. That being said, your balcony is your space as long as you are not disrupting the stay of other guests.
Hi Amanda,
I am a cancer fighting/survivor, soon to be celebrating my 50th birthday!! This place just came up as a travel option for me. I will be traveling this month, January. I have read thru all the posts, but like Karen that has posts/concerns, I am trying to see if this is the place for me. I NEED a warm, relaxing place to enjoy away from the winter, cold days. Could this be that place, Is it ready?? In a few words can you sell me on this resort vs something in Cancun or PV. I need to make a decision quick. Thank you so much!!
Hi Trish,
This is a smaller resort so you will get to know the staff and experience personalized service. It has dining options, an entertainment programme, and swimming pools similar to other resorts but it is newly remodeled. Within walking distance is the San Jose del Cabo community with shopping and restaurants. This is the place for a relaxing holiday in the sun if you’re looking for an intimate property.
We just returned from the resort and it was FANTASTIC!!! I have nothing but great things to say the rooms were beautiful, the staff incredible and the food amazing. We look forward to returning 🙂
So good to hear Peggy!
Hi Mike,
The rooms do have a mini-bar with water, beer, and other drinks. The beer is domestic. They do not have a sports bar however you may be able to watch the game at the hotel or a local bar, but we can not guarantee it.
Just got back from 7 days 1/18 thur 1/25.. Had a great trip. The Resort was wonderful. Food was very good. Service was really good. Really enjoyed it every thing was very nice. The pools where warm and the beer was cold. Would go again….
Hi Amanda, is it true kids 12 and under stay free.
Hi Amanda,
Is it possible to secure a room for 2 adults and 3 children at this resort or anywhere in the Cabo area?
Thanking you in advance,
Tomislav
Hi Tomislav,
This hotel can accommodate 2 children per room. Using our Vacation Pricing grid, you can select “3 children/room” to see the Los Cabos hotels that match your search: http://bit.ly/1u2rpfX
