This hotel was probably great at one time, but it definitely needs a refresher. The bathroom especially needs attention, mold is an issue. There was a problem with bugs coming up through the drain. The grounds are beautifully kept. The service was not great, understanding English was an issue. Only one area for adults only which is very small and overcrowded. The food was adequate. I would not recommend this resort to anyone.

The grounds at Barcelo Karmina are very well kept and beautiful. We also enjoyed the many iguanas that were often in the trees or having a "swim" in the pool. It was nice to see the water in the pools was checked as well as leaves removed daily. Our favorite was the Adult Pool. We must mention our pool waiter Daniel Hermandez, as his friendliness, and service was excellent.He definitely made our stay enjoyable. The dining was good. Our favorite was the Capri Grill. The staff there were exceptional. We ate breakfast and lunch there.Omelets and eggs cooked to perfection by the very charming cook. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. The Christmas Eve outdoor buffet and celebration was beautifully done. Such a great selection of food . The rooms are excellent. Lovely view of the grounds as well as the ocean. Sure nice to have two bathroom sinks. Plenty of closet and drawer space. Would be nice if the staff in general spoke more English. Many try hard, but some speak or understand little.We booked mentioning it was a 70 th Birthday. Some recognition of this would have been nice. This was our second vacation at Barcelo Karmina. Hope to return.

Room were very spacious, bed was hard. Food was mediocre, some nights it was better than others the drinks were always good Resort grounds are nice and easy to get around, the pools were nice and never had a problem finding a lounger

NO GUACAMOLE! Sad because it is available and expected every other resort I stayed at. The resort itself is nice but has a limited number of English speaking staff which can be challenging at times. Easy to find a beach or poolside lounger, even at 10 or 11 am. Buffet was quite repetitive but lots of variety. Considering Manzanillo does not have as much tourist development as other parts of Mexico, not much to see outside resort.

We arrived March14 stayed for 7 days,this resort is beautiful, very clean,staff are very friendly,happy to assist you for any of your concerns.(we had none).if you want to do some shopping better to bring pesos ,as some stores would not accept other currency... Other than that all was fantastic.

I have been to this hotel a few times and sad to say in my opinion it has dropped down to a 4 star at most.Staff were friendly,food ok. I believe my star ratings below are fair. One example i can give you is if your not into doing the stairs try to get a room down low, elevators have been unreliable and i mean unreliable.

As soon as we arrived the problems with this resort started. We were asked for a 500 peso deposit for a lock for the safe in our room. Not such a big deal but when you have paid $4000+ dollars to stay there I found this very unnecessary. We were driven to our villa by the bus boy and that is where the positives ended. We were in a 2 bedroom villa with our 3 children. It was worn down moldy and just plain gross. Other people hair all over the villa, bugs everywhere, , only sheets on the bed no blankets. We requested blankets at the front desk got towels as no staff at this resort speaks english. Upon arriving in our villa I attempted to use the toilet. It didn't flush neither did the one in the second bathroom. Turned on the taps and nothing... In went to the front desk to request a room change where I was told they were having problems with the water and it would be back on an hour. We then inquired if once the water came back if the water slides would be operational we were told they were under maintenance for an undetermined length of time as well as the zip line.Both looked like they had been closed for quite some time. These were the main reasons we booked this resort. An hour came and went and nothing we were then told it would be on by the end of the night and to go and enjoy dinner. This was a whole other experience. The outdoor buffet was so covered on ants it could have walked off on its own. Nothing was labeled in English which would be a big deal if the food was at all edible but it all looked like three day old leftovers combined to make new disgusting dishes. The service was good keep my beer full which is good because I needed them!! Me and my husband attended the night club that evening and had a good enough time dispite the to tolites being full of waste due to the no water issue. We the returned to our villa to sit on the patio only to watch all the other guests bring their garbage cans to the pool to bail out water for their rooms. The beds are tiny and rock hard would have been better to have slept on the floor which is where I ended up more then once after rolling out over the course of the night. In the morning still no water and no answers for the desk just another lie about when it would be back on. By this time other guests were literally bathing in the pool and using the waterfall at the kids pool as a shower!! We met with our sunwing rep that morning and were promised the water would be on by 4:00. That came and went without any change. By this time we were starting to wonder how they were washing dishes or food and even cooking it with any sort of sanitary measures. Around 4:30 we finally go the news that our sunwing rep was able to move us. Thank god if I had to stay minute longer at the living hell I think my whole family would have got ecoli or worse!! If you have stayed at this hotel in the past know that it in nowhere near where it used to be. We were even told by a fellow Canadian that he witnessed a very large rat swimming across the main pool and then it laid dead on the pool side for more then a hour after the staff was informed that it was there. We were loved to hotel call Tesoro and it was above and beyond anything we could have imaged. Your web sight gave it a 3+ rating and Grand festival a 3 rating. Festivall is 1 on its best day. Tesoro deserves at least a 4. It would be in your companies best interest to drop Gran Festivall as one of you options or I imagine you will be reading many more reviews like these.

Nice and clean, friendly staff, need a little maintenance but nothing serious. Would have enjoyed a little pre show music and dancing in the lobby or designated area not everyone stays up late enough for the disco. Food was good but there is a need to watch the serving temperature for the food. Some of it was cold and this could create a situation were food poisoning could happen. Overall great stay

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Barcelo Karmina. The food was delicious and the grounds and pools were beautiful and well maintained. Our room was the largest we've ever stayed in and it was very clean. The view from our room was fantastic. We would have like to stay longer.

Having gone last year and having several disappointments, we decided we would try again now that we had a better idea of how the hotel works. We go for the golf which we love the course and the staff at the course. The hotel for two years in a row screwed up our reservations. We heard other people at the front desk complaining about the issue.. paying for a Grand deluxe room and not getting one. They didn’t care. In regards to all inclusive.. this hotel has some people all inclusive and some not. The staff tended to serve the non inclusive before people with bands. This year we were told of many things that weren’t included in our all inclusive that were last year. On our last day we were trying to have lunch before going to the airport. Had spent all of our pesos. They cut off our all inclusive at noon. There are no other restaurants around and nothing at airport. It was a long hungry day. Very disappointing. Never been to an all inclusive hotel that had done this.

Although the food was the best we've had at any resort, a few things were off. If you're accustomed to a soft bed and soft pillows, this is not the place for you. No blankets, just sheets. No wash cloths either. Waiters don't come around to take orders around the pool. Cockroach in our room. A rat in the pool, mouse droppings on the window sill. Mice could be heard in A/C units. Raccoons running around on the grounds. Water pipe broke the day before we left, no flushing toilets, no showers... that really sucked. Water slides were broken. Definitely need to get softer beds and pillows, also need décor in villas.

We enjoyed our stay at the Barcelo resort and would absolutely recommend it to a friend. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and well kept. All the restaurants were excellent , service was good excellent customer service. Evening entertainment was enjoyable All in all we had a good experience.

the grounds and pool area of the resort were stunning. the inside of the rooms were tired. we had mold and mildew in our room. our room towels were more worn out than the beach towels. Room could have been cleaner. asked for a queen or king bed and received 2 small beds. asked about changing and the customer service desk said we had to pay for upgrade yet it was stated when we booked for "deluxe" room. Sunwing rep told me that a lot of people had same complaints and the resort was trying to make a few extra dollars that is not acceptable. sunwing said they filed a complaint already about this. Staff was extremely friendly. would definitely go back. What a stunning view from our room!! one of the best views ever of all of our travelling.

My husband and i just got home from this resort and it was one of our absolute favorit places we have ever stayed at. We will definitely be going back in the future. The staff was amazing and the food was awesome. We are so happy!!

Beautiful resort, good food, friendly and attentive staff. Our first time in Mexico were not sure what to expect, but were delighted with our stay. We will return in the very near future, thank you for a wonderful week.

No line up, no waiting !Our suite was waiting, Beautiful,5 th Floor,balcony overlooking well kept grounds,beautiful polls and terrific view of the ocean.In minutes we were in swimwear,lounging at an adult pool, with a cold drink of our choice,delivered by the excellent pool service. No need to line up for 2 of our 3 a la carte suppers. Reservations were in our welcome package. Our first a la carte was the Kyoto, Japanese. So much great food, pleasant atmosphere,and excellent service. Our next A la carte was the Agave, Mexican, restaurant. It's location and atmosphere is wonderful. The open air,and ocean setting is very special. The food and service could not have been better.We enjoyed a view of perhaps the longest and perhaps best fireworks display across the water from here--how lovely !! The Barceló treated us to a Christmas Eve Buffet and stage entertainment. This was beautifully set up on the grounds. The food selection was truly exceptional. Turkey, Barbequed steak, shrimp cocktails and so many-many- other dishes and choices !! We loved the Italian , Capri, perhaps the best. The a la carta was good food and excellent service, but their breakfasts and lunches were the very best. The friendliness and service we will never forget. The breakfast grill cook made your morning. Her smile, and knowing what our order was and how we liked it cooked was terrific. The staff all so friendly, and again excellent service. We so much enjoyed the extended a la carte lunches, of excellent "specials"from the menu, superior service and great view ! Our maid service was very good. She maid us feel very special with a floral flower heart decorating our bed and a hand written Feliz Navidad Christmas Eve. Our only bad experience was the Bugambilias Resturant. We were assigned a table and upon returning with our food found our table was taken. We immediately took another nearby table that was not set up. We were told we could not sit there , and moved to a table that was not set up. No glasses or linen. No service.After some time we were able to flag down a waiter, and ask for water and wine. Finally water came but never wine !! Oh well guess we can't expect perfection !!! The Mexican Show was very entertaining and well done.

Resort was clean rooms were clean, staff friendly and helpful. Lots for the kids to do. Food was good only complaint was the pool chair availability. Rules of the resort were no reserving allowed yet people would throw towels on chairs and disappear for hours on excursions. Once we talked to security we found out we can just move them and take the chairs if they don't show up so we did. Resort was full and very busy but overall was a great family holiday.

The area of Manzanillo is absolutely beautiful and Barcelo Karmina is right in the heart of it all. Beautiful resort, sensational staff and lots of bang for your buck. Nightly entertainment was great and the food was amazing. Will be returning for sure!

The available activities is were this resort shines. The staff were great but it is a locals resort or most staff didn't speak English. The rooms were cute but not kept up. I'm actually ok with chipped paint and tiles(just adds to the Mexican feel) But we had mold growing in one of the closets and there were stains on the sheets and a hole in one of the pillow cases. The stairwell was tight also. It was nice having a kitchen though. We had a night without air conditioning and a couple days with cold showers. The beds are very hard and small...I think we had a double. It looks like they are doing some major repairs but that meant there was only one main dinning room avaiable and 5hrs between 7am-10pm were there was no food available at all. No food was available between 11am-1pm and 4pm-7pm. We don't drink. I usually have lime water but occasionally enjoy the odd juice which was not available. The food was pretty good but there was poor rotations of food. I had plans on eating guacamole everyday(not an unreasonable expectation in Mexico) but it wasn't served once. Not even on Mexican night...I had to buy my owe avocados from the local market. The fish was always mushy or over cooked. There pulled chicken and beef were amazing though. There were no snack bar which they said there were. The grounds were very well groomed and clean. And so were the pools. The staff were helpful and pleasant. There were several staff that got extra tips for exceptional service. It was hard to fully enjoy the entertainment as everything was in Spanish but the dancers were impressive. Some shows were not very family friendly and it was very much a family resort. We loved the area and hope to visit it again. We always felt safe. The sunwing guide was very helpful with navigating the area and great suggestion. This resort has potential but not there yet. We had a good time but felt it was a bit over priced for what we got. We were talking to another couple who has the same room size we did and they paid $225 less than we did per person so we will be shopping around more next time.

Lovely, compact, family-friendly resort, constantly being cleaned; sociable and seemingly happy staff; decent food; and enthusiastic animation staff. Lots of Mexican families, which is considered a big bonus by my family.

Lovely pool areas. Should have a slide for adults as well. Food was good. Love the Mexican hot chocolate. Unfortunately, check in was slow and then had to line up again for a la carte reservations as my booking was not on the list at the airport. Staff was friendly most areas but the lobby front desk. The young men working were slow and not too helpful. Beach area was a bit disappointing with harsh sand/mini rocks and small. We had a basic Junior Deluxe Suite was large and well kept. No view but not there to stay in the room. Evening shows were a little lack lustre. The piano player was superb in the lobby.

The rooms were a bit dated but adequate. Provided only one bottle of water for the entire week for four people. Would have been nice to have one per day. No hair dryer but I expected this as it wasn't listed . The food at the pool snack bar was very good, as well as the buffet and the specialty restaurant. Lots of activities for children. Nice beach across the street from the resort. Over all a very fun vacation for the whole family.

We spent a week there as part of a Sunwing package March 8-15. Hotels representatives were waiting outside of the airport to welcome and check-in us. They gave us all info for our room and pre-booked three à la carte restaurants for different evenings and time. We were generally quite satisfied with the resort. It is lovely inside and out. The resort is beautiful and has wonderful architecture and the grounds are landscaped to perfection. Rooms are large suites, comfortable and fully stocked with marble floors that are nice and cool after a hot day. There are little balconies on each room to sit on and overlook the resort and ocean. Staffs are working hard all the time. Pools are beautiful. Beach is small and in a man-made cove which is perfect as you don’t get slammed by waves, kids can swim safely and many little fish hang out there for all to enjoy. Sunwing rep Miguel was so helpful and answered all questions. Drinks are plentiful, with many bars throughout the resort with no lineups. We enjoyed variety of food, fruits, desserts and their great coffee.This was the most relaxing holiday we had ever! We’ll be looking forward to going back again and definitely recommend this resort to everyone. Also check-out was smooth.

Vacation at Grand Isla was top notch. Clean, well kept property, excellent food choices and service was always friendly and staff very accommodating. We loved the combination of resort stay plus easy access to town. We (group of six women) would definitely consider a return vacation and may even allow our husbands to join next time:)

Nice pool. Good location on the edge of town. Room very clean and bigger than expected. Patio a little small. Uncomfortable plastic loungers and not enough shade in the public areas. Some things included unexpectedly, i.e. room safe, plenty of towels with no silly tickets or threats of charges, too much soap/shampoo etc. Good A/C in the room. Staff were exceptional. They dealt with the few drunks quite discreetly and were always happy to go the extra step. Good policy not having free beer until after 5 p.m. Breakfast was generally varied and rarely busy. Jam sessions were interesting and sometimes very good. Pickle ball court next door was a little intrusive in the mornings. Most of the time the hotel felt like a peaceful oasis.

This hotel is in a great getaway location. It's staff is professional, courteous, and above all friendly. The only fault is the beach. Everyday some algae or some sort of scum floats into the cove. While it is of no fault of the hotel, it does pollute the water and spoil what could have been a great beach experience. I mentioned the staff is top notch and in my view makes up for the beach short comings. They go out of their way to make your holiday an experience to enjoy. One person in particular was a young waiter named Jordi. We always attempted get a table in his area, but even if we couldn't he would make a point to saying hello with a ready wave and smile, almost like you were visiting him at home. The hotel location is an easy bus ride into town if you feel like exploring. Take the number 8 (which passes by the hotel regularly) to the highway and then take the number 1 into town.

Food in the main place was very good . The Italian and Mexican was mediocre the Japanese very nice . The pools were wonderful. however there could have been a bus once or twice a day to take you shopping. or exploring. Too long a walk in the heat for older folk. Having been to Mexico many times it would not be my choice with little access to other locations in the area.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Barcelona Karmina, the staff were all very helpful and friendly, the waiters/waitresses in buffet and all restaraunts/bars were extremely efficient. The pools: Amazing! We loved them, so pretty and not much of a problem to find chairs (we were a group of 5, so had to move around a bit when needing some shade) we had a lot of fun playing basketball, and the waterslide was actually pretty fast! Had a few laughs with that! The grounds: Beautiful! We loved walking around and discovering all the little nooks and crannies. The Iguanas that were roaming around were great too, there is one that sits on the bush by the pool nearly every day, looks like he loves the music too! The rooms: We had an ocean view junior suite, very nice but only double beds available if you don't book a king bed. We had 2 adults and 16 year old. Could book a king bed, some of the couches are pullouts, but not overly comfy! The beds were VERY hard, none of us slept that well. Bathrooms are gorgeous and housekeeping was great. Beautiful view from balcony, air conditioning was efficient AND quiet! We paid for wifi, it was really good in the room, made my son very happy!!! The beach: beach is small, but nice. Wear water shoes! Especially if wading around, there are tons of fishes right there, makes for great snorkelling.. but... don't stand on the rocks. I did, and within 10 seconds something took a go at my foot!! Scared the life outta me, but didn't break skin, just a scratchy grab... I still can't believe it LOL The Food: buffet was always good, we were always able to find a full delicious meal. There are 3 restaraunts, Japanese and Italian were best, the agave, while the location is absolutely beautiful wasn't the greatest. It was ok, but felt rushed and food wasn't all that good. (Heard a few people got sick after eating the lobster dinner) A few in our group had little bouts with GI issues, not sure though exactly what the cause of it was.. I ended up extremely sick on the day after we returned to Canada, can't say for sure though what the cause was... Nightly Shows: Ok. Just ok.. we didn't bother after the first one. The entertainers work hard, but just wasn't for us. All in all, we enjoyed our trip immensely, despite the few negatives!

I must say' this was an amazing resort. - my first impression of lobby, impressive - service from bell people, so kind and helpful, then stepped into our room, and wow, it was beautiful, view from balcony, breathtaking. - food was artfully presented and tasted better than it looked. - service, amazing, - pools and swimming area, so beautiful and clean. -excursions were great, could have caught more fish, but that's fishing. -we absolutely had a great fault and enjoyed our stay

We had an amazing time at Tesoro Manzanillo. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We found that the food was great and there was a wide variety for everyone's likes.We really enjoyed that Cartes. We really liked the room and view. We did three excursions and had a blast and they where great value. We met lots of nice people and the weather was amazing. Definitely would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a great time.

I found the food and resort to be above average. Loved the pool as well as the beach The only thing that I found that was lacking was the drink service. Even when I tipped heavy for the first drink I hardly saw the pool waiters. Always a line up at the bar for a drink.

Everything was great. Only complaint was that the pool was too cold to be comfortable to swim in which was unfortunate. Food was good. Since I am a young mom it seemed like the waitstaff at meals didn't care too much about keeping on top of our table, my guess is that they didn't think I would tip or something of that nature.

Clean, wonderful grounds, fantastic pools - overall great! Great restaurant locals, service above par, frendly attendive staff. Hotel itself is beautiful- rooms are huge, however,furnishings, drapes, bedsheets need replacing! Also, more hooks in bathroom to hang things. Stunning hotel, needs lol to stay in the 5star league.

We had the joy of going to this resort two years ago, enjoyed it to the fullest at that time so guess what, booked it again this year from February 10 - 24 -2017 again we received the same results people are wonderful and polite, food is great, grounds are kept clean, rooms are kept clean, and all pool areas likewise. My wife and I both highly recommend this place everything close by.

Smaller resort but still had everything you need for a good vacation. Clean, spacious rooms with decent sized balcony. Beach was small but in a cove so very little waves. Several pools varying in depth cascading down from hotel to the beach providing sounds of waterfalls. Attentive service at both the pool and restaurants. Food at the buffet was OK with limited choices and not always hot but the a la cartes were excellent. We liked the location (just over 30 minutes from ZLO airport) and felt very safe outside the resort when we checked out the local shops.

Enjoyed a wonderful week. Having been here six years ago we were a little concerned the resort may have declined in its' appearance and service. It actually exceeded our expectations and even better than 6 years ago. The lobby and the grounds are beautiful. Staff are happy , hard working and a pleasure to be around. Beach is very small but the many pools make up for it. Shade is available for those wishing protection from the sun.

Clean Resort. This hotel lacked any enterainment (around pool or in the evening) The food was very good but very limited. Only had buffetts on days thats they had more guests. Otherwise you are ordering off menus and usually only one restaurant to choose from. But again... the food was good. We paid extra for Grand Deluxe King Rooms, although some got two very small doubles that two people could not sleep in and the room was nothing more than a regular room. We booked 4 or 5 months in advance as a group and we were spread out all over the hotel. The rooms were classy and clean though. Location, Location Location. This hotel is not located directly on the ocean with waves, its in a bay. Although is a cheap boat ride across the bay to a beautiful beach and fun village. Golf course was beautiful, caddies were great! Would definetely go again.

We just returned from our stay at Las Hadas. And it was once again was a pure delight. The service at the desk, pool and restaurants was courteous, quick and always with a smile. The meals at the Legazpi restaurant were superb, better than most gourmet restaurants in the Gta. The rooms are dated but that is what them their charm. They are clean with a beautiful view of the ocean and the lovely well kept gardens. This hotel is known for the film 10 with Dudley Moore and Bo Derek. So it tries to keep the ambiance. It truly is like no other hotel and small enough that you get to know most of the other guests. On the weekends it gets busy with Mexican families which are delightful with ready smiles and friendly holas. The rest of the week it's fairly quiet a favourite spot for folks from Western Canada and north western states who were all wonderful. I would recommend this hotel more for 40 to 70 yr. Olds especially if you are looking for pure relaxation, great food, constant sunshine and good conversation. We will definitely be returning.

While the time away was great the resort needs some work. It is one of the oldest resorts in the area. The pool is in need of repairs as there are tiles missing and it needs to be cleaned from the inside out. The rooms are very comfortable but the patio furniture is in need of repair. There were some early issues with the food, there were prices on the menu and you were told you could not order over 291 pesos or you would have to pay for half of the whole price? The General Manager Senior Ortiz was very helpful and open to all guests. By the end of the week they were already making changes. But that being said I do not think that we will return unless there are more changes.

This resort is just a nice as it shows in the pictures. We could not have asked for a better stay. All the restaurants, including the buffet were excellent and we would recommend to all. Our only downfall for this trip, was that even though we requested for the 2 couples to be together, we originally ended up in 2 different area's of the hotel. They were good enough to change rooms for us to the same section, but different floor. The pools were all very nice and had enough chairs for all. I must say, the water temp was a little cold for some of us. It took us a bit to get into it, but once in, it was very refreshing. The beach, was small and not as inviting as I like. We did see quite a few people using the beach every day.

I was at this resort several years ago when it was under the Club Maeva name. I was hoping that what had been a great resort had been preserved and even built upon. What we encountered was a facility in decline, with many cosmetic and functional problems (no air conditioning, dirty rooms, taps that did not work, burned out lights, rust and general shabbiness. We were required to change rooms towards the end of our trip as they claimed they were doing some maintenance. We ended up quite far from all amenities in a very small room with equally shabby features. Although this may sound a bit petty, two of the things that made this trip particularly difficult for us were biting insects in the room ( we were covered with bites) and perhaps the worst bed I have ever encountered, anywhere, ever. It was one notch above concrete. We had to purchase an egg crate foam from a local Walmart to make the bed remotely comfortable. On the plus side,, the pools are excellent, the grounds are well maintained and the food was fairly good. The demographics of the clientele has changed considerably: On weekends, the place is packed (1600 people) but when we were there, only 16 of us were non Mexican. This is of course not a big issue, however English is not as commonly used in organized activities, or on the part of activity announcers. Mid-week when numbers decline considerably, , dining and bar facilities are confined to only one outlet, so lines could get long. For those not familiar with the resort, the beach is a bit of a walk, and lies across the highway. There is a great path and bridge to get there, but it is not a "beachfront" resort. We Canadians tended to hang together and there was a most disturbing incident where there was an attempted sexual assault on one of the Canadian women on the beach in broad daylight. This is a terrible occurrence and I do believe it to be non-typical, but it did occur and this thoroughly tainted the trip for us. This occurred just adjacent to the resort beach area (within 100 feet) and did NOT involve Gran Festival staff, but a waiter at an adjacent restaurant. If you are a young family on a budget in need of a resort with lots of family-oriented facilities, then this place is fine, but if you are looking for a comfortable get-away, I would look a star or two higher.

Room was very large and clean, resort was amazing, except the pools were chilly. The staff were great. We had heard about the desk being slow, but having occasion to go to the desk numerous times, we had no waits and very good service.

We absolutely loved the resort and especially our room with the ocean/marina view. We only had 3 negatives which would not deter us from referring this resort to friends or family but should be aware. The food was a hit or miss but overall the experience was good, the service was not always there but we were advised the hotel was short staffed (just meant we got our own drinks at the beach and lounge) and the main buffet is open air which allows for the birds to poop all over the chairs/floor. The resort is quite large with a "plantation" feel which we loved and quite a few stairs that we didn't mind but you could call for a golf cart to get you where you needed. The beach area was nice with clear water where you could see the fish but no lounge chairs on the beach, just beach style chairs but you could ask for loungers to be brought down. You have limited access as you are in a bay but there is a nice walking path to the Barcello and a nice short walk along the marina. There was a new Manager just starting when we arrived and could already see improvement in the food and selections. I would expect the new Manager to continue improving the service but overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

One minus no beach!!! and please make sure you advise people who come to visit that resort that leaving towel in the morning (meaning that is your chair and you coming back) do not touch, many people do not know this.

The staff at the hotel Cabo Blanco were very helpful and friendly, I saw them go out of their way for several guests, answering questions giving directions and handing out maps. They were also very accommodating in the restaurant, bringing things which were not on the eg: yoghurt ,bacon. the rooms were clean and the beds comfortable

If you are 40+ you can not beat this place....everything about this place is fabulous. Location, location, location. Staff and the food are amazing. Beautiful golf course, 27 holes. Very safe, and the value here is unbelievable. If you are looking for something that is relaxing and laid back this is a can't miss....This was our 7th time back to this resort...we can't get enough of everything about it

We stayed at the Barcelò Karmina from January 13th to the 20th. My parents had previously stayed there and highly recommended it. We will forever be grateful that they did. The property is absolutely STUNNING, and it is kept in pristine condition. Our room was so spacious, well-appointed, and comfortable. Kudos to the housekeeping staff who meticulously kept our living space so lovely. We LOVED the food at the buffet restaurant. The only problem we experienced was overeating at each meal ;) Our dining experience at the Mexican à la carte restaurant (Agave) was one of the many highlights of our trip. If you go, DO NOT MISS this incredible experience! We also really enjoyed the beach bar every day, which was consistently overflowing with delicious treats. The pool area was our favourite of any resort we have visited. Again, it is so beautifully maintained and designed. The beach at Karmina is very small, which might be a deterrent for those who love an expansive stretch of sand and surf. We really loved it, however, as the water was warm and perfect for snorkelling. We really enjoyed the nightly entertainment, and the performers were so charismatic and engaging. The dancers were superb, and the male singer featured on most nights was SUPERB - what a talent! Our 16-year-old son loved playing beach soccer and volleyball each day, and we all enjoyed kayaking around the bay. Our very favourite thing about the Barcelò Karmina was the staff. Every single employee was friendly, hardworking, kind, generous, patient, and professional. I think we fell in love with every single one of them. They worked tirelessly and genuinely appeared to love and value their jobs. We will forever treasure them for making our holiday so perfect. Thank you, Barcelò Karmina! WE LOVE YOU AND CANNOT WAIT TO RETURN!!! P.S. There is no free wifi, which seemed to upset some people. I work exclusively online and was beyond grateful to disconnect for a week, so it didn't bother me.

Grounds, food and rooms excellent, in need of hand rails at ALL steps in rooms and grounds as few accidents while there, saw only one wheel chair ramp to pools, beach very clean, staff very helpful at all locations especially buffet. Had great wèek

Stayed at Barcelo Karmina in Manzanillo Jan 6-13/2017. We upgraded to oceanview and it truly lived up to it's name. We were in the Santiago tower room 5209 and we could see beautiful sun rises and the lights of the city in the evening. Room is large with a step down to the living area. The bathroom is huge with two vanities apart from each other. Fridge was stalked daily with drinks and snacks. The buffet is amazing and we really enjoyed the 3 a la carte restaurants. Small beach and many pools to choose from. We spent half our week at the beach and the rest of the time at the adult only pool. Do not pay for the Premium Level. It is a waste of money. The bus that took us to the airport did not having functioning AC so it made for an uncomfortable ride. Beware the airport is very poor....only 2 vending machines that only take pesos. No restaurant or TV to watch...absolutley nothing to do for 3-4 hours!

Is not a place to rest, it was very noisy. We asked to move to other room, glad they did. The beach in Barra de Navidad is not good. Town was a very safe and people are very friendly. Rooms are clean. Breakfast was average, service was very slow. We didn't mind serving our selves, be waiters were not clear about the rules, apparently is according to your package.

The grounds were nice the area was well maintained . A few kinks in the beginning staff fixed up the problems immediately . All the staff were very helpful and friendly . The beach was wonderful as was the weather . Great vacation .

Two weeks at the Karmina Nov 20-Dec 4. Still off season, hotel occupancy about 50%. Weather beautiful, a couple of night showers.Our first time in Manzanillo. Lovely hotel and staff, spacious rooms, excellent food with lots of fish and seafood. A La cartes were OK, but not spectacular--not all open every night. We got 7 a la carte cards for 2 weeks. Kudos to Mierela of Westjet tours and to Jessica, the Hotel Concierge.

Very close to the ocean, the ocean cove was a great amenity to have to actually swim in the ocean while it blocked high tides. The hotel was private, spacious and clean. The swimming pools were clean, and there were quite a few of them. The staff overall were very friendly, the evening entertainment shows were great, food was great and the tours available were good too.

It was an interesting surprise to see all the other guests were from Mexico with the exception of a handful of Canadians. Almost none of the staff spoke any English at all so just be prepared with some basic Spanish.

The hotel is extremely well kept, they are constantly cleaning and painting the public areas. Pool and beach are great, food was good, but food service was a little spotty. It is important, especially if you have kids or mobility issues to get a room on the lower levels (200s to 400s). If you are on the higher levels you could climb a 150 stairs to your room or wait for the golf cart service which can be slow. I would go back to this resort any time.

The pool areas were lovely. The food and drinks were very average. Wait staff was not very attentive with the exception of a few. Excellent meal at the Agave restaurant! The beach area was small. Not being able to walk along a long stretch of beach was disappointing. Rooms were very spacious and clean.

Well kept, great food. Selection of food is somewhat limited. Bars close early. Not the place to go if you are hoping for any kind of evening fun. I gave a low score for service because evenings are total dead zone here. Nothing stays open other than an indoor lobby bar. Service from the wait staff when they are open is excellent.

This is the third time we have stayed at this resort and we were treated like kings!! They were there for our every need, they have even improved it since the hurricane and replaced all the mattresses!

Tesoro had good food, great Mexican a la carte. Good drinks and service. Most of the guests are local Spanish speaking families, and some staff didn't speak English. So brush up on your Spanish! Good beach and snorkeling. Rooms were nice, beautiful marble and always clean. Very disappointed in kids club. Advertised as 10-6 daily with lots of activities. Not the case. Kids under 9 had to have a parent present at all times, so it was basically a kids water slides that we had to stay at. We couldn't go snorkeling together or get alone time. Paid $80 Cad for an on call babysitter so we could have dinner alone. Also, kids club staff spoke zero English and all the kids dvd's were only in Spanish. I understand the hotel is geared towards locals, but Sunwing/Tesoro itself advertised kids club and it definitely wasn't. We would have gone elsewhere if we'd known. Still, solid pick for couples wanting a unique experience with good food and beach.

Overall a good place to,stay. Lots of locals with kids so it gets pretty wild at times but fun. A la cartes were great and Marco is excellent at making the time enjoyable. Hot food in the buffet should be hotter but there's lots of variety. Beach sand gets really hot between 12 and 4 but the staff do provide service on the beach. Tipping always helps.

I loved everything about this resort other than the beach. There was no place to walk the beach and that is my favourite thing to do on holidays. I heard the same thing from every person I talked to at the resort. They all said same as us, love the resort but would not go back because of the beach.

-clear waters, perfect for swimming even for children - architecturally stunning especially at night -food was plentiful but could use more variety on their menus, also another a la carte would be great - glad to see all the renovations happening, bringing this resort back to its potential

This is my second time to this resort. It really is the best of the best. The rooms are clean, up to date and maid service 3 times a day. Food is mostly of a menu with lots of delicious choices. Breakfast buffet better than all the other resorts . Antnios is just fantastic, roast duck, rack of lamb its all a taste treat and you are treated like royalty. The pool area is perfect for everyone including children with some very nice water slides and hot pools, and for a special treat there are 2 hidden pool, but I am not letting on where they are, Have fun finding them. Service and staff are awesome. The resort lay out is amazing and indescribable , best to go see for your self. This place truly is a 5star plus.

My wife and I have traveled South three to four times every winter. But it was the first time to the West of Mexico. We think we found a treasure this time. Las Hadas has given us a great impression. Staffs are all nice and kind, and foods and meals are great. Room is clean and well maintained. Beach is not crowded and we enjoyed very comfortable and relaxed time. Sea water is clear enough to do snorkeling and we have enjoyed it everyday to play with lots of beautiful fishes at the just beside of beach. It was lucky too for us to have found a Seahorse. There is a nice Golf Cours near to the hotel, it is well designed and challengeable nature friendly style course. Greens are still needed to be improved. Probably it was caused by the Dry-Season. Staffs in the course are very kind and nice. They work very hard to maintain the courses in everywhere. Specially Golf Director Mr. Jaime Elias, he is very nice and generous. You may contact him directly whenever you have any of the issues in case. Unfortunately, number 13th and 18th holes are temporary courses at the moment due to the damage of original holes by Hurricane of last October. They will be repaired by this May completely. Then we will go there again next winter to see and play the scenic 18th hole which has the green over the ocean as an island green.

Had no complaints about this resort. This is the first resort we really enjoyed since our 15 years of travellling. Food and service was very good. Very clean! We would go back and we recommended this resort to our friends.

Beautiful resort, well maintained. Friendly staff, clean. Good value. The a la carte restaurant Antonio's was an absolutely incredible dining experience. I would go back just to eat there again. Water taxi service to Barra well worth it to go into the town for shopping, beach and beautiful sunsets

Rooms were way better than most resorts. Food was varied and well prepared. Staff are very helpful. Grounds are very well kept. Beach is quite small and neighbouring beaches to stroll on are not readily accessable. Activity staff have a challenge with all the pool areas to cover.

It's a secluded resort with a small private beach. You won't see any trinket or souvenir sellers on the beach. The resort was very elegant at one time but now it needs updating. The entertainment is limited as well as the buffet.

The grounds are beautiful. The room was great. The food was ok. Favourite a la carte was the Japanese Restaurant. The view from the Italian Restaurant was incredible. The staff were very friendly. I found it very strange that there were no facecloths in the room though! We found one on the cleaning lady's cart and let her know we needed it. Overall experience was great.

Loved the Barceló Karmina Palace in Manzanillo, MX. It didn't feel like Mexico at all, with all the lush greenery that surrounded the area. The hillside housing reminded me of Santorini, Greece with the exclusion of blue roofs. The amenities that this resort provided is suitable for couples, or families. The room I stayed in was the nicest ever in Mexico, it was the junior suite and I absolutely loved the bathroom. Liked the fact that it had an adult "only" pool. The only thing which would be better would be that it was a bigger pool area. Irregardless, if you needed to get away from the noise of the children, there are a variety of areas in which to do so. Food selections were outstanding, and there was never a time frame in which there was nothing available to eat. Although, I am not too sure about the availability after midnight. My absolute FAVORITE was the Mexican ala carte restaurant which overlooked the roar of the ocean, it was so relaxing and breath taking. Not only that, but they offered a private lobster dinner on a beach embankment under a gazebo, which looked amazing. I did not experience this, but will definitely be sure to on my next visit. I cannot attest for the party atmosphere that Manzanillo has to offer (as I did not go to town on the pub crawl) but they do have a disco, as well as a piano bar area which was very entertaining. My overall opinion is this is a higher end resort with an affordable price, and I would HIGHLY recommend it.

Family vacation. Kids are 10 and 14 years old. We all had a great time. Check in/out was effortless. Hotel architecture was amazing. Rooms were huge and impeccably clean. Beds were super comfy. Restaurants were all great. Excellent selection and variety. Staff were helpful. Beach was small but clean. Excellent snorkelling right at waters edge. Many clean pools. Entertainment was a little disappointing compared to Cuba experience 2 years ago. Overall a wonderfully memorable trip.

This was our second stay at the Karmina Palace. Beautiful, clean, and spacious rooms. We arrived very late, instead of 7:30pm, it was 11:00pm. To welcome very tired tourist, there was a special room set, with registry tables, and all the food and drink anyone could want. A great way to start 2 weeks of sunshine.

Thank you for giving me an opportunity to voice my opinion about our stay at the Grand Isla Navidad Resort for two weeks in February 2015. We loved it. We liked our room, the view and the quietness of the hotel away from all the hustle and bustle of other big touristy resorts. We liked the food too. But there were a few things that surprise us about this 4.5 star hotel. That was the service. Every time we wanted to sit down at the La Plasuela restaurant (at pool level) for lunch we had to sit down to a table that hasn’t been cleaned after the last customers. Even when there were only half of the tables occupied the others were not cleaned and the waiters didn’t look like they would clean it until we sat down and often waited for a long time. Even then they would put utensils in from of us that were left over from the previous guest. We couldn’t believe how one of the waiters gathered dishes and utensils at our and other dirty tables to give to us. We ordered the red snapper but we got some other fish dish served without informing us that they didn’t have any red snapper. Used single serve ketchup and mayonnaise jars were put back on the tables. We wanted to book a table at Antonio’s Italian restaurant and were told by the concierge that there were no tables available for the early booking times. As we didn’t want to eat so late we declined. Later we asked again by the check-in desk and were told it was no problem and that there were many open tables at any time. When we got to the restaurant it was not even half full. At breakfast and dinner we had to enjoy the same buffet at least 4 or 5 times prepared by a single cook lady for all the hotel guests during our two week stay. This resulted in long, sometimes a whole hour wait till one could get something to eat. We were not informed that we could also order from the menus. We found out about ordering from the menus from other guests. When we asked for the menus we got Spanish menus twice during the same dinner because the staff couldn’t organize the menus according to different languages. But when we did the food was very good. Most importantly the restaurant under the leadership of Mr. Lorenzo is the most disorganized restaurant we had the pleasure to dine in a long time. The girl asks us for our room number and then she said we could sit anywhere we wanted. Then we had to wait till one of the waiters was nice enough to ask us what we would like to drink. But first he had to gather coffee cups from other tables but he didn’t bring us a spoon. We had to ask again for a spoon. Then we had asked again for milk for our coffee etc etc. At dinner-time more of the same. We would think that the lady at the desk should have led us to a table and give us the menus. Ask what we would like to drink and get somebody to bring it instead everybody running around without a clue of what they are doing. Pretty poor organization in our opinion. We think that the staff and especially the staff leaders in the restaurants like Mr. Lorenzo need to receive proper training on how a restaurant should be operated in a hotel of this standard. The entertainment at your El Faro lobby bar was absolutely horrible. The two Canadian entertainers from Salt Spring Island were the worst performers we had the pleasure to enjoy in a long time. The bartender Sergio had at least a bit more knowledge of drink mixing than the bartenders at the pool bar. They were just sloshing stuff together. Obviously they had no proper training. Very poor for a 4.5 star hotel. But in all fairness I’d like to repeat that we enjoyed our stay. We loved the location, the scenery, our room, the cleanliness, the view and the weather. Just the restaurant service needed some improvement. I would like to thank you for providing us with a great vacation and I hope that you accept our opinion about it given in honesty.

At one time this was an amazing resort. I suspect there has been little to no maintenance since it was built. Large cracks in the pools, room full of mold and children play area/daycare is unsafe -broken equipment and live electrical outlet at the base of a tree in the outdoor playground. The most unsafe part of this resort is the walking bridge to the beach -supports are almost completely rotted through and the concrete has completely fractured through at the top of the bridge

Karmina Palace is a beautiful place! Grounds are very beautiful, pool areas and beach are very nice. Not a problem to get chairs if you get out if bed before 9 or 10am.. Restaurants are very good, with lots of choices for everyone. The rooms are nice, but have a step down to sitting area, or beds if you have double suite.. My girlfriend had to buy a nightlight for safety reasons.. This hotel is very busy, with lots of large groups travelling together

Hotel was extremely clean. Staff were very friendly,helpful and accommodating. The week we stayed was very hot, and so was the sand on the beach. Only recommendation would be for the bar in the lobby to stay open 24/7.

This is a beautiful resort with great staff and . You don't need to get a ocean view room because all views are amazing. Food was pretty good but the dinner buffet was not great. If your looking for a quite vacation with no entertainment then this is a great place to go.

We stayed there for a week at the end of February, the hotel is older but very well kept up, we stayed on floor 16, ocean views amazing but lots of stairs to climb. The resort was very quiet during the week but when locals start arriving for the weekend it gets pretty loud and busy(only complaint). Food was good, no complains. Nice beach but sand gets very hot from sun(volcanic black sand deposit)so bring shoes to beach or expect to do a lot of running

I consider this hotel a very good value for the $ . I like to play tennis and Mario the tennis instructor is very professional and help me with my game.no negative about this hotel except are to many stares and not ramps for physical challenge people.

This was a beautiful resort, nice grounds, the pools were very nice and well kept. The beach isn't very big and swimming at low tide is difficult to do especially without water shoes on because of the rocks. The hotel room we had (2011) had a little bit of what looked like black mold near the A/C vent and the couches were in very rough shape. Other than that, our room was nice and a very big. It had two TV's! lol The service at the restaurants was sometimes slow but not too bad. The food was good and there was always a large variety and usually someone cooking fresh food on the grill. The drinks at the bars could have been better, we found them to be way too sweet and the pop/soda was always flat when we ordered Cuba Librés. The excursion guy (Miguel) was outstanding at his job and very knowledgeable. He was always around during the day if you had any questions. Overall, this was a good resort and we would consider going back someday.

The resort met all of our expectations and more. The rooms were very clean and spacious. Nightly entertainment was excellent despite being mostly in Spanish. Not all the restaurants were always open but those that were served adequate food. The grounds were very clean and well kept. One of the best features we appreciated was the friendliness of all the staff. All except the front desk staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.

No longer Part of blue bay franchise and has improved immensely . It is now known only as los angeles locos. has the BEST beach for swimming and children to play safely. The place is very clean and pretty. Don't expect elevators. We have been 7 x and plan to return often

Excellent rooms, food was great, service was great. Check in was terrible. Not much of a beach. The golf balls flying into the swim area from the golfers was extremely dangerous and scary. Should have been free wifi somewhere in hotel for those of us who only wanted to contact home 2-3 times per week.

The grounds are nice. The beach is O.K. The food was good especially the Italian restaurant which we had twice. The bars need some drink menus and coffee at the lobby bar would be nice for a afternoon spanish coffee.

I went to Gran Festival with my 5-year old son, with little expectations, which were met. Although there are a lot of activities available, most are in need of repair/maintenance, however the service/staff was very good. Two points in particular were very annoying, i) our room was too close to the disco, which music was far too loud ii) although they advertise Wi-Fi, it's virtually non-existent. I'd rate the value very low since I'd paid a 4-star price for 2-3 star resort, but the price is reflective of the season, (Christmas Holidays).

This is a truly Mexican experience. The hotel is on a a small beach front property, the water is warm BUT in some places the water is quite deep. The view is fantastic. The hotel is very clean, beautiful. Staff is very attentive, friendly. Food is plentiful but not much variety.This is Mexico, so if you like Mexican food, you are at the right place.Guests are mostly Mexicans, so entertainment is geared to Mexicans. Excursions are well organized, very knowledgeable tour guides, comfortable tour buses.The landscape and surrounding areas are beautiful. Manzanillo is a must see town.

While we were impressed with the hotel, it's general upkeep and the quality and care of the landscaping and outside areas, we felt the dining staff in all the dining areas were unfocused and undertrained. It is as easy to give excellent service as it is to give poor, and at no extra cost! We were led to dirty tables, staff hovered to take our plates before we had finished and tables were inadequately laid. The staff were charming and eager to please but seemed undirected. But our real gripe was the abysmal quality of the food on offer at all the restaurants and speciality nights. We felt that with appropriate and participatory management from the very top this hotel could regain its standing as an impressive and exciting venue for world travellers and without this push, it will gradually drift into anonymity.

Food wasn't the greatest but the pools are ok I also liked the service the people that work there are very pleasant. The room was perfect. And yes I would recommend this resort to friends.and yes I would return if the price was right.

Beautiful setting and not a bad view anywhere. I would have rated pools excellent but beach is lacking. We enjoy walking on the beach and had to take a bus to Playa Miramar to do that. Otherwise absolutely no complaints. Staff are beyond excellent and very friendly and helpful. Food was good and selection changed every day. Rooms were kept very clean.

It was our 7th time at this resort. The food staff and the grounds are incredible I would highly recommend this resort. The weather is always sunny and warm. The rooms are beautiful. Can't wait to go back

The hotel is amazing ...food was great ..very clean and the service was excellent...as for the disco we would go every night and dance till it closed ...the entertenment in the evening was also very nice ...thx for the wonderful week ..looking forward to seeing this resort again.

Tesoro resort was a very quiet hotel at the beginning of Nov. The grounds were immaculate and the bar service was average and I only say this because they may have been understaffed at the time. I would have liked to see more variety of food but what there was was good. Lots of shops, and things to do. I would go back to this resort. Oh the beds were comfortable and the housekeeping amazing.

My family had a great time. the food the beach was great and the people friendly.I would recommend this hotel to all the families and it will be better if you speak Spanish so this way there are not issues.

If you are tired of noisy resorts and large crowds, you might enjoy this place. There are few activities other than yoga and golf, but the food and service are excellent, and if you have a busy life at home you can unwind here and feel pampered.

The rooms were clean. The food was okay but not much variety like seafood.Easy to catch a bus to shopping. Unfortunately we got there a day late so we were disappointed to miss a day. Our plane was delayed in Saskatoon so after getting up at 2am and travelling 1.5 hrs we were delayed then had to spend a night in a hotel in Sask.

I booked this resort for a vacation with my family(wife and teenage daughter) in mid March of this year. My daughter had a friend who wanted to come and her family booked and came as well. We were impressed from the outset. The nicely equipped van was waiting for us at Manzanillo airport. The driver stopped at a local store to let us buy a couple of refreshments for the 25 minute drive. We arrived at the resort and checked in very quickly, our rooms were waiting for us. We had a very nice room overlooking the marina with two double beds. The room was clean and well maintained. We enjoyed the pool area and the food immensely. The resort was not full and service was excellent. Often times it felt like we were in a private mansion with a staff of servants. We have been many places in the Caribbean and the Mexican Mayan Riviera and this place was the best. There were lots of activities including a fun little water taxi ride to Barra de Navidad which seems to be a little hippie enclave of displaced Americans and Canadians. Shopping was good at the local handicraft market and there were some good bars and restaurants for after hours fun. We chartered a local boat to take us to a beach 10 miles up the coast, on the way we saw whales, dolphins and sea turtles. The day's adventure cost about $200.00. After returning home on a Monday I was sitting in my office with my brother and business partner. The weather was terrible and since our business is construction oriented things were slow so I looked online and low and behold the same resort was on special for just over half of what I paid for my family. We booked the space and I returned to the Grand Bay the following Monday after being home only one week. The staff at the hotel were surprised to see me back but treated my brother and I very well for my second week there. We chartered a boat for a couple of hours and caught one robalo which we gave to the operator. The next day we had many compliments from the staff on the delicious meal they had courtesy of our donated fish. Needless to say I plan on returning this year to the Grand Bay. Maybe I'll try the golf package, I hear they have a great course.
