It was our 12th time at this resort. We love it! Selvamar rooms are comfortable and clean. The white beach, Playa Blanca, is pristine. There is no place on earth as beautiful! The forest areas are complete with birds and monkeys. But the very best part is the staff: They are the greatest! Heidy, Randall, Carlos, Edwin, Christina, Aaron (chair rentals), Elia (golf cart rental). Much love ?

The hotel was a disappointment, although not the country nor the people. They have serious issues with communication--they prevented us from leaving the hotel in our rental car even though we showed them the papers and did not adequately explain afterwards. The food is NOT 4 star level, but basic Central American cafeteria, i.e. rice and beans. On the good side, the grounds are immaculate and the staff are friendly, but they don't speak English. The entertainment is only in Spanish. Loud music at the pool ALL DAY and disco loud until 2am. All clients need to know these issues before they think they are booking a 4 star. 2.5 star or at best.

This was our 11th vacation in Punta Leona since 2003. Jungle, beaches, wildlife … it is paradise. Clean, comfortable accommodations. Efficient and friendly staff. We obviously love it! Planning to come again

The grounds were amazing, everything was incredibly clean. Loved the beach and pools. Nothing was a disappointment! The staff was second to none. I can not find a single thing to complain about. A friend recommended your Resort, so happy we listened.

The grounds were well kept, swimming pools were clean and well kept. A few more loungers would be good as many put their towels on the chairs in the morning then didn't use them. The room was adequate, bed comfortable, good working air conditioning, and the staff provided great cleaning, towels, coffee etc. A small table on the balcony would be nice. The staff at the hotel were excellent, A+ rating. They were so very friendly and helpful. The air transportation worked well, nothing to report on really. My only complaint about the whole experience was the way the ground transportation was handled. Although the vans were new, comfortable, with good drivers, we never got any vouchers, had no idea who the company was, no phone number, etc., left completely in the dark as to procedure for pick up etc. The night before leaving the hotel, I had the staff at the hotel call tripcentral about pickup. The lady I talked to was very nice but could provide me with no information at all. She told me to download the Air Transat App, which I did and it did give me the pick-up time, that's all. So if something was to happen where the driver didn't show what could we do. Keeping the customer in the dark like this creates a lot of stress. I think this part of the trip could be handled much better. Overall the trip was great, had a great time. Loved the beach, the sunsets, the town of Jaco Beach.

My 4 teenage kids and I loved this resort. It was clean and very will kept. Loved the pools and the staff were always kind, even of they didn't speak English, we always managed. Overall a great experience! Pura Vida!!!

I like the grounds. The room was clean but had a musty smell. The bathroom needs to be renovated. The staff was nice but some didn’t speak English and it was difficult to communicate with them. The food was good, but could use more seasoning.

The grounds are nice and kept clean. The room was dirty when we checked in (stained sheets and pillows, dirty coffee maker, hair on the shower head etc). The bathroom is in disrepair and has mold. Some staff were pleasant while others were rude. Most of the staff don’t speak English which was somewhat annoying but not unbearable. The food left a lot to be desired as most of it was bland. The buffet isn’t the cleanest as various animals like birds and squirrels will attempt to eat from your plate or even the hot tray. The a la carte restaurants are a bit better than the buffet but with long wait times for bland food, it’s hard to enjoy.

We arrived at 12:30 in the morning and were greeted by staff which were friendly. In the morning the grounds and the walk to the beach were well maintained and groomed. The entertainment there was minimal to non existant. The town of Jaco was very pleasant and the food at the resort was just average and basically the same thing on the daily. The rooms were clean but very dated.

Sadly I am not recommending this resort to anyone. It is great for bird watchers and wild life lovers. The food (or water), however, got both myself and my partner extremely ill for three days of our trip. We talked to several other people staying at the resort and they were having the same stomach problems. Extremely disappointed as we have travelled to many other third world countries and have never had an issue with the food. Staff: Some of the staff are very helpful. Others don't really go out of their way to help, unless you speak Spanish. I noticed there was a huge difference between the help Spanish people received as apposed to English and French speaking guests. They really are not tip motivated, but grateful when you give them a tip. Accommodations: Our room had a garden view with a balcony which was a nice getaway from the beach or lounge / bar. The room was clean, towels were changed daily if you wanted. PLEASE INSIST ON GETTING WATER REPLENISHED DAILY! DO NOT DRINK THEIR WATER FROM THE FAUCET. The rooms are roughly a 8-15 minute walk from the service desk. Not too bad, but annoying when your card key has to be reset for the fifth time during the week. Food: The food looks amazing! I would, however, border on the side of caution. I believe this is what got us sick. Take something like Dukeral before departing and bring medicine to take care of any sort of sore stomach if you plan on eating here. Beaches: There are two different beaches along the resort, very nice to walk and swim in. The tide comes in and out pretty quickly and high, so make sure to pack a bag to store your belongings in a tree and not on the ground. Nature: Punta Leona is a good 1 to 2 hour drive from San Jose (depending on traffic). There is a lot of wild life living within the resort compound. White face monkeys hang around the restaurant. Aras live along the roadside near the butterfly sanctuary, and lizards and iguanas line the sidewalks to soak in some sun. Overall, for the price and time to get to this hotel, I really really would not go again. I would have a very difficult time recommending this place to friends or family knowing the poor experience we had. That being said, everyone's adventure is different. Book at your our risk. I am only one of the 4000+ reviewers here giving their own two-cents.

The resort was very clean, so were the rooms. The resort was very child friendly, food was pretty good. Service was pretty good in the restaurants and at the bars. The nighttime entertainment was alright.. 8pm til 9pm was a children's program. The info on day trips and help was ok.. unfortunately the resort is far away from the rainforest, volcanoes and a long ride from the airport. But it is overall a very nice place.

The outside and grounds were beautiful. Inside rooms need some housekeeping. The 4 hours on a bus after a 5 hour air was a bit much on terrible roads. Front staff are much to be desired. Stupid, ignorant an rude. First impression and first people you meet should be adult and professional. I would go back to Costa Rica, but not that resort.

Disappointed at the female front desk staff.No welcome, made no eye contact and never spoke to anyone. When they were asked where our room were located they just pointed. When we checked out it was the same, never spoke, no goodbye or how was your stay Hope to see you again, nothing The bar tenders were all eager to serve, smile on their faces. The housekeeping staff were friendly. There was a wide variety of food at the buffet and was good. The resort was clean, well groomed lawns. My favourite was each morning was watching the parrots, listening to the hollering monkeys The massages that I had were amazing by each lady, excellent top notch service Also, the gentleman that booked our excursion was amazing, friendly and knowledgeable.

I've never written a review but thought it was important to share. The trip from the airport was a 4 hour drive through extreme winding roads. I spoke with other guests and everyone complained about the drive. We booked a half hour flight from close by airport back to international Airport to avoid this drive again. $150 per ticket. The resort was exceptionally nice. Pool are was very comfortable and clean. The downfall was the bars. Minimum bars and bartenders. 20 minute line up everytime you wanted a drink. Under staffed but bartenders worked non stop trying to keep up with demand. Food was not good at all. Same thing every day. Buffet was large but exact same food every day. The "speciality" restaurants were fair at best. I guess they thing anything will taste good when you've been eating the same food day after day. We found out our last day that they didn't offer bacon for breakfast except in the "premium" speciality room. After paying over 2000 dollars per ticket bacon for breakfast should not be for premium guests only. Ridiculous. Brought new bottle of sunscreen . We ran out so went to gift shop. They were asking 72 dollars for small bottle. We took a cab to store and bought 3 times larger bottle for 24 dollars. Evenings. It was absolutely ridiculous. The pool closes at 7:00pm. Table tennis and mini golf, closes and ANY resort activity closes at 4:00pm. They have a nightly show on stage with dancers. They were entertaining for the first night or two but it got old after that. So after dinner there was no swimming, no entertainment and minimum bar service. The place has soooo much potential but with the drive to get there, the weak food and the lack of things to do, I would not go back as it's not worth it. I've been to Barcelo in Rivera Myan in Mexico. I would go there in a heart beat rather than return to Barcelo Costa Rica. Very disappointing. February 15-22 2024

The resort and view is breathtaking. The rooms are just okay. We actually had no firm alarm or working safe. Despite asking for both! No water in fridge either. The service and food is horrible. The steakhouse served steak that didn’t taste like steak. So much so that my son asked if it was a “dog”. Yikes! No gluten free alternatives. No dairy alternatives. No pool side waiters. Someone threw up in the pool on Saturday- they just roped off that section of the pool! The grounds are very well maintained, but that’s about it! Oh forgot to Mention our sheets had dirt on them! We arrived to dirty sheets and pillow covers! What’s more the travel agent,’Jenn, told us it was a 90 minute bus ride. It’s not 90. Try 5 hours. We lost the entire day and no dinner. Called ahead to the resort to get some sandwiches and salad in our room. While on that call the hotel informed us we only had 3 days booked and not 5! We absolutely panicked and emailed Jenn. Data and roaming charges incurred on both our phones. Get to the resort and “so sorry for the miscommunication but yea you have 5 nights”. got there after 10pm and no food. Finally at midnight we got sandwiches with bread, ham and processed cheese. Gross. I actually couldn’t eat any of it. The kids just wanted to sleep. This hotel needs to step up their game big time. Costa Rica is not Cuba but you wouldn’t know it from the food. What a waste of such a gem of a view. The package should come with a small charter flight from Liberia. Because 5 hours is NOT okay! You can go to Italy full flight in less time than it took us.

Had a wonderful time at Fiesta Resort.The grounds are immaculate, pool is clean. Staff are out there at dawn making sure everything is perfect for their guests. Bedrooms are large and clean and I loved the hearts and little animals on my bed every day. Huge variety of food for b/fast, lunch and dinner and snack bar open until 1am. The fruit bar so refreshing at 10am. The front desk staff is so very friendly and they printed out a map of where everything was which I found extremely helpful as I would get lost in a shoebox!! Communication was very easy even though I can't speak Spanish.Anytime I asked for direction there was no "over there" with a wave of a hand they walked me to where I wanted to go. I found all the staff friendly and very, very helpful. Met some really, really nice Costa Rican people at the pool and we had such fun just laughing and talking and I learned some new Spanish words. Many, many thanks to DIEGO for the amazing drinks......he sure knows how to make them ;-). Much appreciated! You and the other staff at the bar always with a smile and a kind word. Sunsets are spectacular...a photographers dream. I am a solo traveller and thoroughly enjoyed every second.......PURA VIDA!! Go raibh mile maith agat ("thank you so much"in Gaelic)

It was beautiful,I had a great view from my balcony facing the ocean. The food was good. Really liked the Steak house and the Italian restaurant. The only thing I didn't like it was a four drive from the airport. And where you check in they couldn't really understand English. So it made it hard to talk to them.

The resort was spotless throughout. There were staff continuously sweeping and mopping floors around general areas. To my surprise I was booked into a premium suite which gave me access to an up market restaurant for breakfast and lunch daily, a local concierge and a Nespresso machine in my room. I have limited mobility and can only walk short distances with my Nordic Poles. The hotel provided me with a wheel chair, and I only had to ask the concierge to get a bell boy to push me further afield. The staff were INCREDIBLE! They treated me like a queen and feted me on my 79th birthday with a cake and balloons! Would I recommend this resort? You bet I would!

The Beach Break Resort is in a good location, right on the beach and the grounds and facilities are very nice. The staff overall is attentive and helpful. The problem arises on the weekends when a large number of Costa Ricans come and for many, their interest is with heavy drinking and loud music. We were there for two weekends and both times the area around the pool was a party lasting well past midnight. There are signs posted with 'Rules' but these were totally ignored. The Management seems to have no control over this, and even at about 2pm the pool area close to Reception had a massive sound system going. On one night the 'partying' ran to past 3am. The management needs to decide whether this lovely resort is for wild partying or for long stay guests who wish the posted Rules are observed and controlled. I spoke with several Costa Ricans who said they would not return with their families to this resort.

Review of Hotel y Club Punta Leona Terrible at reception. We had travelled for almost 12 hours and checked in at night in the dark. The receptionist initially could not understand from our documents that we were all-inclusive, as she asked for how we were going to pay. We were then told to go to our assigned room, which we knew from past experience was 700 meters away, uphill, and in the dark. We asked for a shuttle, which we knew had existed during our past visit 7 years ago. We were told that none was available. When we protested, we were offered a shuttle for $US4 EACH. When we further protested, a shuttle was called for. We were given no introductory brochures about hours of operation for the various restaurants. No instructions about how to obtain bottled water (upon request at the Carabelas restaurant, we found out later). We asked about nature tours and the bound book that we were given had prices that did not include a tax that was 20%. On the internet, VAT in Costa Rica is only 13% and another tour company charged only 8%. In summary, at Reception, we felt that attempts were made to take advantage of us. The only other plausible explanation might be a woefully inexperienced receptionist. We will not divulge her name. From other guests, we heard similar stories about Reception problems. One other Terrible, on our third trip to pick up balls and putters for MiniGolf, the man at the desk insisted on seeing our passports! This was despite our gold bracelets that included our registration number. On our first 2 to trips to pick up equipment, a lovely woman just asked for our room number and name. Why this inconsistency? If passports are truly needed to borrow poor quality putters for 30 minutes, this should be specified in the introduction. Now for the TERRIFIC- Room, AC works well, super quiet overhead fan works well, so no AC needed when sleeping. Bathroom clean and well provisioned. Good hot water. Excellent sized safe in the room. TV worked well, several English channels. WiFi was free, limited to the room only. Beds were comfortable, linen very clean, linen service could be ordered as needed via a sign on the doorknob. Selvamar units are near the Carabelas restaurant. We ate all breakfasts and all dinners at Carabelas. Lots of variety. Attentive service. Great fresh fruits. All the fish we tried were excellent. Lunches we had at either Carabelas, or at one of the two a la carte restaurants, Leon Marino (near the large pool) or Playa Blanca (reservations needed for lunch). Both of the latter had excellent food and service. The bars at both the small pool by Carabelas and the Mantas Bar by the large pool were friendly and the Mantas had an extensive menu of mixed drinks, including superb pina coladas. The small pool was refreshing and mainly in the shade. No towel service there. The large pool was fantastic with warm water, a ramp to walk in, and an abundance of space both in the pool and for lounge chairs with umbrellas. Lots of sunscreen needed, by the way. The complex is large but the shuttle bus that runs between 8 am and 5 pm is efficient with a friendly driver who will drop you off close to your room. Walking to various places in the heat can be a challenge. For example, our room to reception was 700 meters. The large pool would be an additional 300 meters. The Mantas beach then another 100 meters. The beautiful beach of Playa Blanca must be reached by shuttle bus. Regarding the beaches, Mantas beach is pretty but a bit stony.. Umbrellas and lounge chairs are run by a private company. The Playa Blanca beach offers 2 lounge chairs and an umbrella for $US15 per day. Very warm water, but watch for the warning flags. Surf can be excellent for surfing. For Nature Lovers, the Punta Leona resort offers an abundance of birds and butterflies. We saw 29 different bird species and 12 different butterfly species, some of the later in the special Butterfly conservatory building. Unfortunately, the 615 am morning bird hike is not as good as it was 7 years ago. The guide speaks poor English and only seemed interested to converse with Spanish speaking visitors during our one trip with him. We only saw a small number of birds with him, most of the 29 were seen by ourselves while walking the grounds. The area around the MiniGolf has Blue Potterweed that attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. Monkeys were abundant and fun to watch around Carabelas. The MiniGolf itself has been redone since our last visit and is very good, with some very interesting and challenging holes. Don't forget your passport?!? Finally, with respect to Covid precautions, all restaurant staff wore masks at all times. The resort had plenty of sanitizer and hand washing facilities. In summary, a very good resort for visiting Costa Rica as long as you are aware of the nature of the resort. Hope this has helped.

The moment I arrived I was really impressed by Reception and the following days the bar staff, dining staff, security staff, cleaning staff, pool staff etc. all went above and beyond to make my vacation a wonderful experience. The Hotel is clean, safe and a great place to visit with family, friends or on your own like I did. The menu was different each day and food was delicious. Each dish was individually labeled so there was no problem in deciding what to eat. Personally I ate everything ;-) The Off-site trips are excellent and the guides are knowledgeable and friendly. There were a lot of mixed reviews on this resort so we were unsure of what we were getting into . I have to say this place exceeded all my expectations. The beaches were stunning . You have to see Playa Blanca !! It is totally worth the 20 minute walk off of the main beach . The white sand and beautiful water is breathtaking. Our rooms were standard but clean and we were hardly in them so we didn’t need much space . The hotel is large so be prepared to walk . We don’t mind walking as there is so much to see. The pool , bar , beach etc are all in the same spot and located near the washrooms . For those who aren’t into walking I suggest packing for a day as everything you need is by the main pool however the rooms and buffet are about a 10-15 minute walk from the pool . The food was excellent , we have no complaints. The monkeys are such a great thing to experience. If you want to touch a monkey and see them daily , this resort is for you ! They are by the buffet daily and they are soooo cute ! The staff was friendly and the drinks were great ! We will be back again !!

We just returned from ten days at the Best Western Jaco Beach. Check in was easy and all our transfers arranged for tours and by Air Transat were on time or early. The room was very basic but it had air conditioning and was spotless so that was all I needed. Pool area was beautiful and you could see the beach from the grounds, although it was not really conducive for swimming. Sunsets were gorgeous and the water temperature was perfect if you were brave enough to go in. Food was plentiful and the booking system was easy for all meals. Staff in the restaurant were wonderful and the room was always cleaned daily. My only complaint was that for the first week the music level by the pools was insanely loud, to the point of not being able to sleep at night without the AC blasting to drown it out. Days 8 and 9 it suddenly lowered to tolerable levels so maybe somebody said something? All in all a great stay. Weather was perfect, iguanas and macaws by the pool were fantastic, and the town is nearby and safe. A+

After a long day of planes followed by a 90-minute van ride, Bryon at Reception greeted us with a smile. He had taken the initiative to get the food service to leave a bag lunch in our minifridge. He also ensured there was someone to drive us with our bags to our room despite the late arrival. It was a great way to begin our vacation despite the heavy rain. The next day we enjoyed breakfast at the nearby buffet. There were monkeys in the trees around the building. A few snuck past the netting and helped themselves to unsupervised plates. It was amusing to watch. We walked about a kilometer to reception to double check some information. We continued past to check out the pools, restaurant and beach. The resort area was well staffed, clean, and had the regular entertainment items. The beach was through a security gate. There were no chairs. It turns out it is a public beach. To return to the pool area we had to show our bracelets. After lunch, we took the shuttle to the other beach (Playa Blanca is about 2.5km away from our room). It was nice. The water looked clearer. You could get chairs and an umbrella for $15usd. Overall, the resort was fine. It's difficult to describe how sprawled everything is but the distances stated give you an idea. The staff were nice. At Playa Blanca, Patricia, Stephany and a man whose name I've forgotten remembered our drink orders and were super friendly. The food at that restaurant was delicious and we made a point of eating lunch there for most of our 2 weeks. The staff at the buffet near Selvamar (the rooms) were hit and miss. Some were exceptional and got us our drinks. Others were never seen the whole dinner unless I approached them to get a glass of wine. You could serve yourself water, pop, juice, coffee and tea so it wasn't a big deal. The buffet is Covid careful, with the staff behind plexiglass and dishing up your food for you. The evening supervisor recognized us and she greeted us with a big smile (again, name forgotten.) We never went to the 'bar' so we have no opinion on it. The room was a regular room. It had wifi and a room safe. The mini fridge had a pitcher of water and that was it. At night you often could find a movie in English. The area in Costa Rica is so full of nature, the resort doesn't need much beyond clean facilities and friendly staff, which it has. There were all kinds of birds, lizards, monkeys, coatimundis and few insects. There is a butterfly shelter and a hydroponics garden. We found we could walk all the way to Playa Blanca and enjoy the life around us. The macaws, lovebirds, buzzards and toucans (to name a few) kept the skies alive. The green and red iguanas could be found on the ground and high up in trees. The monkeys and raccoons were entertainers. It is a fantastic area to enjoy nature. With all the rain and a few storms thrown in, the water clarity was not good for snorkeling. Apparently they are beginning to make an underwater museum with statues and coral friendly structures. Perhaps we'll return someday and be able to see them in clear water.

-grounds were luscious and green, extremely clean in all areas, including public areas -beach was lengthly and very quiet, but needed water shoes at top to walk on rocks, then very sandy once in the water -buffet was very nice, fresh, and plenty of variety -only 2 a la carte restaurants, but both were very good quality and service, however having to stand in line every morning the day of reservation was very annoying -very surprised at the amount of locals permitted on the resort, and seemed to dominate the service, if you don’t speak Spanish, you were not paid any attention while the locals were present -the entertainment was not very engaging, as it only catered to local Spanish speaking audiences, no translation - the pool had to be closed on 3 occasions due to contamination due to rowdy locals(vomit) -stay was very relaxing, but not much to do unless went on excursions - great wildlife, iguanas, monkeys, macaws

I found this resort to be not exactly as advertised. I stayed in the premium section which was better but the regular side of the resort did not have balconies on their rooms or hot water. The premium side was overrun with locals who come into the resort on weekends (even though the premium side is supposed to be exclusive). English is not very prevalent and broken English was spoken by MOST staff, staff are used to catering to locals who speak Spanish. Resort was mainly older couples and young families, not very good for a young adult like myself. Good for doing excursions due to its location, beach not good. Food was ok at best.

This resort has gone down hill for international travellers. It caters to locals and therefore others are ignored. The grounds are beautiful but the and service was less than exceptable. The food was ok but the same thing different day

The hotel and setting, is amazing. The staff shows preferential treatment to those who speak fluent Spanish. Short staff for weekend vacationers. Transat customers were shortchanged on items that were promised, at booking, and ignored when asked about these items. Transit rep was only there 1 full and 2 half days, during our 11 day stay. We weren't advised about the time and distance to get to and from the resort. Very arduous journey.

This resort was extremely clean. Always had the same food every day,no variety. Tilapia fish only all week. Should have different fish ever day since you're on the ocean. The service is bad at the restaurant but rooms are kept extra clean They cater to their locals. Disappointed in this resort. Beach area is amazing to see the surfers! Great location but basic resort.

Everything met expectations. I was not happy about not being able to walk because of the highway. I was not expecting to be so isolated but that's on me for not doing more research. Resort was great but i would not pick that location again.

This hotel is clean, great staff, quick service and fun all around. The beach has huge waves but the sunset is magnificent! Food is good but almost always the same. Mostly short term tourists. Access to town very easy and feels quite safe.

The resort was beautiful, clean, amazing grounds. So much wildlife to see monkeys, birds beautiful red Mccaws,iguanas, most amazing sunrise.The pool was very nice. The travel to resort was much longer than was said because of road construction was disappointed cause our departure was so early for a later flight due to road closures... feel we missed out on a days vacation due to the travel of the resort when we were told 2hr drive not 4hrs. Beautiful resort Ceaser the bar tender and Nino from the buffet amazing customer service, always had smiles. The fact that it catered to locals would not return they would bud in line found very rude.

After a long 4 hr drive to this resort as I was lead to believe that it was a 11/2 . Than our holiday was to begin the buffets were always fresh and interesting when returning to our rm the key didn't work and this happened for three days and on the fourth day we waited outside the rm sitting on the floor waiting to get in our rm it was 45 mins later when a worker showed up to let us in. Also when we booked our trip I didn't know that the costa rica christmas holiday was during our holiday as the resort was filled with many local people enjoying there last week of break with their children .I was amazed at how rude many of these people were to visitors in there country and the lack of respect to the proptery of the resort. On our last day check out day we had to leave the resort at 7 am as the road to the airport was under construction and was going to be closed for 2 hrs our flight wasn't until 4pm it was a long day waiting at a airport .

The grounds were nice and well maintained. The people were friendly. The restaurant was nice and the food was good but it was repetitive and eating similar food every day. The lunch menu at the bar was the same every day hot dog hamburger and fries or nacho chip with cheese. It would have been nice to have a different menu daily. The pool area was to hot with barely any shade area so we could not enjoy the pool any length of time without burning. The rooms were clean and comfortable. They had a hard time supplying clean towel for the beach. I went over 3 to 4 times before they had towels to give out after checking in. To exchange for clean beach towel it was the same it was a hit and miss to get an exchange.

Top of the list was the wonderful service and friendly staff at this resort. Rooms were clean, food was great with lots of variety, security good and visible. Grounds and pool well kept. The beach was kept clean and safe. Any maintenance issued were addressed immediately (we had some AC problems). Only negative was live entertainment at the pool, one late afternoon, that was way too loud, could not talk to anyone, even inside our room. Complaints from visitors finally got it turned down. This only happened once in the 2 weeks we were there. The tour company connected to our booking, was also wonderful. An easy walk to downtown and many great shops and restaurants. Our Tripcentral booking agent was wonderful and helpful.

I have to say that the views and the country were spectacular! Our family enjoyed the scuba diving and beach lunch. However since we were not provided an itinerary we had no idea how long the travel would actually be, it was long! The way there not so bad as we stayed in SAN Jose the first night. But the way back was terrible! We timed it and it took 20 hours from the time we left the hotel until we arrived home! We had to wait in the San Jose airport for iver 5 hours because we were paired with a group from Montreal who’s flight left earlier, if we would have known this we would have never done this! Not to mention, this is not a 7 day all in trip, because we had to pay for our food on the first day, which was fine we had expected this, but the last day also, we stopped at a cafe that we had to pay for then we had no choice but to sit in an airport all day and eat there. In future if you are to offer this trip, there needs to be a better explanation of what will transpire! We were not the only family who felt this way! We spoke to 2 other families who felt the same and I am hopeful they will also provide their feedback. We had used air transit in the past and plan on doing more travelling in the future but We may look at other travel agencies as we were quit disappointed. Also we had to change rooms since the first room we were in had a broken door, no lock and no working phone. We asked for an extra blanket and towel and it took them 4 hours and 3 times asking before they finally provided it to us.

Clean grounds, spacious room, hard working staff who always had a smile for us, close to beach and town which is what we wanted. Food was plentiful and healthy, although more variety would be appreciated.

Very remote but clean, beautifully landscaped resort. Food fair, repetitive, but best fresh fruit ever! Beach good for long walks. Majority of guests Costa Rican, EVERYTHING in Spanish, only English speaking at reception and customer relations! No Air Canada rep at resort for info. Have to find everything out yourself! Approx. 4 hour trip from airport , construction through mountains scary, drop offs, only yellow and orange tape markings,narrow winding gravel road, hairpin turns, for 20-30 km of it and driver going fast! Clouds of dust from large trucks made for poor visibility at times! Stressed on arrival and AC rep contacted twice via phone refused to give another option for departure! Cannot recommend land trip until road finished, unless come by ferry, as most Air Transat guests. Lonely, too, if social, as only a very small number of English speaking guests. Kudos to the 2 Customer Relations guys for their support and calls to AC rep. This is apparently common for them with Canadians arriving at resort by land from the airport and they agree with our concerns! Even an Air Canada pilot at resort on vacation was refusing to travel back on land with his family. Left before we knew his outcome!

hotel was a little old the grounds are nice, staff was very helpful and friendly . Pools are clean breach was amazing. walking distance to town, bar staff was great service was fast. Good burger and rip restaurant across the street.

This resort was nice, clean and staff were friendly. Pool could use a little more cleaning. Should add more umbrellas around pools by chairs as not everyone likes to lay out in sun. To get to dining area you past the washroom and it smells like sewage had to plug nose when passing it. Food is good, could use a little more variety, had scrambled eggs every morning, maybe hard boiled or fried eggs for a change. This was supposed to be an all inclusive, bar does not open up till 11 and if you want alcohol earlier then you have to pay for it. Bar closes at 10 at night and there was no entertainment the whole week we were there. We were given one key to our room so we had to look for our spouses to get key to room or if our friends or family were near by we would just use their room key to open up our room as the latches on the door was visible. Anyone can get in our rooms easy. So these doors should be replaced with latches covered to prevent this from happening. Beach was nice and clean, was nice to go for walks and not have to deal with seaweeds.

This resort was just right for us. We loved the fact that it's relatively small, and quiet, and the open air restaurant is right on the beach. It was clean and the staff is very friendly. I'd go again!

Mediocre resort. Room we had needed attention. Shower door leaked hence bathroom a pool of water each use. Food was filling but repetitive. Grounds nice. No night music. Good if one just wants to chill. Ability to walk into village great.

Absolutely the best and truest Costa Rican experience we could have hoped for! The resort was close to Jaco town where shopping and restaurants were available. The resort staff were simply amazing, friendly, accommodating and just super pure and happy people. the dining view was spectacular and the beach amazing. Definitely will be returning! Thank you beach break resort the most amazing time ever ! Pura Vida!

Small hotel with nice beach and lovely people. We wanted quiet time and enjoyed our time. The hotel rooms need to be re-designed, but the weather, sand, beach and ocean are perfect! Food is plenty and delicious and the touch of the Imperial beer is just perfect! Perfect family vacation!

This hotel is a diamond in the rough. This hotel is located within walking distance of all the shops and restaurants but far enough away from the noise in the evenings. Food was fantastic which shocked me for the price. I absolutely hate buffet food so I was surprised that even though there was a small selection everything was really tasty and did not cater to American fast food.This place is great if you want an authentic Costa Rican experience with many Costa Ricans enjoying it with their families. Drinks were made fresh on the spot no sugary pina coloda machines. My faves were the Costa Rican coloda which used fresh bananas and the frozen mojito. The room was very clean but could do with some upgrades including new mattresses, a bathroom refresh and maybe a bar fridge. Even with saying that we were very comfortable with no complaints as if they did do that it would be a heck of a lot more expensive. Overall had a great experience. If you want luxury this is not your place.

This resort was great. We stayed in building three, which was very quiet compared to the other buildings. Staff was extremely friendly and went out of their way to make you feel welcome. Our room was as expected, simple but comfortable. We didn't spend much time in our room, so can't complain. The only regret was, we should have asked for a ground floor room since you get bar services on your personal balcony. We did the crocodile tour with Cali. He was amazing! We purchased this tour from the guy at the entrance of the pier. Great prices and very well worth it. Food was great. I'm very fussy as I done like seafood nor fruit but I ate seafood, fruit, and everything else they had. My spouse loved everything offered as well. The two à la carte restaurants were amazing. The service was fantastic. Please remember, even though this is an all-inclusive resort, it's still a good idea to tip the staff. They work amazingly hard. We saw on many occasions where staff were not tipped. Sad and unnecessary!

Very satisfied. Rooms were very clean, personnel always friendly and ready to help. Enjoyed the onsite day and night outings with Alex where we saw the Costa Rica wildlife. Food was very good with a good variety of fresh fruits, vegetables and fish. Overall excellent holiday! Will go back!

Grounds and pool were fine although beach was not suitable for long walks. The rough waves and stones did not allow swims in the ocean or use of water craft. The pools were large and well kept. There was nowhere to walk or go outside the hotel area. The al la carte restaurants were very good. The buffet was Okay but on some occasions limited choice. The service and room were well maintained. The room design was odd with closet in the bathroom and noisy AC. I would recommend the hotel with a couple of reservations.

very clean hotel and pleasant staff, speaking english was not a problem,the rooms are comfortable but could use some updates,a la cartes are very good but could use a few more,grieven at the pier gives great deals on trips and very good to deal with, all in all 8 out of ten for a rating

This resort was very clean, grounds were well kept, adult pool was amazing, food was good with lots of variety, staff were friendly and spoke English well. The cookie given at check in was a nice touch.

The Hotel was clean and nice but a little far from the beach. The food was good, the rooms were very clean. It is close to town. My only complaint was that the entertainment didn't speak English only Spanish.

If you like nature Punta Leona is for you, if you are looking for action, go somewhere else. Playa Blanca is a beautiful as Manuel Antonia NP without the crowds. It is a long way into the resort from the highway so it is rather remote. No shopping.

Nice and simple, but everything we needed. The staff was friendly and helpful. Food was good, and sometimes great. Nice and close to the beach, but far enough away from Haco that it wasn't too busy. Some Costa Rican's eating and staying there too, which I like.

It was a gem to find! A smaller little hotel/resort right on the beach! The location was amazing, the food was great, not 5 star of course but really good. The staff were fantastic too, everyone was friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to go back!!

We travelled as a family with teenagers. The resort is extremely large with homes mixed into the resort. From the all inclusive rooms it is a 5 minute walk to the main reception, pools, bars and beach. Close to the Salvamar section (all inclusive) is the buffet restaurant and small pool. The food was great at all the restaurants. The property was full of iguanas, monkeys and Scarlet macaws. They have transportation to take you to the beaches if walking is an issue. We had to visit the nurses on site for a medical issue. They were wonderful and there is no charge for their services (my daughter required two injections for an allergic reaction). The reception staff were extremely helpful when we were required to go to the hospital in the nearby town of Jaco. The only drawback to this resort is that it is about a 15 minute drive in from the main road, which makes it difficult to see nearby towns without renting a car.

I thought the resort was so much fun! I took a bunch of beautiful pictures! Its super clean and the employees are amazing! I loved the huge pools and the great food. Rooms are very cute. The service is more than great and the drinks are incredible! Plus its located 5 mins away from Jacó’s downtown

My partner and I have stayed at the Jaco Beach Best Western several times. We winter in Jaco every second year at a condo nearby and have our kids (5 couples) stay at the JBBW. Always a great time for all. The staff are so kind and respectful, never a hassle about anything. The food is varied, hot, nutritious and served with pride. The rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable. With a/c and heavy curtains to provide shelter from the sun during peak hot hours. I heartily recommend the TripCentral Jaco Beach Best Western All Inclusiveness packages for value and Costa Rica as a destination for couples or families.

The resort was very clean, the rooms cleaned daily and the mini bar refilled. The food was AWFUL.If you like rice with beans or plain rice go to this resort. Every meal was very bland, WE ATE OFF OF THE KIDS BUFFET. We asked for fresh fish for lunch one day and received a processed white fish you would get out of the freezer section at your local grocery store.At the AL-a-cart restaurant we had a hard time making our self's understood because most of the staff could NOT speak English.We would not go back to this resort, it is not a 4 star resort, we would rate it at maybe a 3.

We thought the resort was nice..It is in transition of changing owners at this point so,the 2 weeks we were there you could see changes every week,for the better.It is a no frills resort so if you are looking for a 5 star resort from a 31/2 it is not the place for you..Small buffet that could have been a little bigger but the food was good( no complaints)..The staff was very hard working and put a lot of hours in and still had smiles on their faces.The grounds were nice,flowers blooming everyday,very hot and dry so grass never got enough water,even with them watering and sprinklers.Up grades have been done to the water front rooms of the resort (side views)and were told the rooms in top part by the round pool were going to be renovated soon..Rooms we had were a bit dated but AC worked very well(had 33% and higher weather for two weeks of holidays)which we welcomed to get relive from the high temps.. Could use nightly entertainment as there is none..Good bang for your buck to see Costa Rica..

I stayed at Morgans Cove Resort (in transition of new ownership) Feb 22-Mar 8/17. The weather was very hot, 90 degrees night and day. A great winter getaway. The resort was an hour and half ride from the airport. The journey to the resort allowed all to see the area in the comfort of an air-conditioned bus. Everyday one saw the changes in progress under new ownership. The resort is small and quaint. Under 100 guests can enjoy the resort. The rooms are clean and modern with a/c. Bars have a great selection of drinks. The food was made fresh everyday. The buffet selection was awesome for all three meals. A menu selection was available every Monday with three very delicious choices for supper. Everyone went home with a weight gain!! The beach was beautiful to walk on. Rock free with black sand that went as far as the eye could see.. The staff were friendly and catered to every request . No complaints from myself nor my husband.

STAFF IN THIS HOTEL ARE EXCEPTIONAL. FOOD LEAVES TO BE DESIRED AS IT IS MOSTLY THE SAME EVERY DAY. A FEW ROOMS HAVE BEEN RENOVATED BUT THE MAJORITY COULD USE A FRESH COAT OF PAINT AND THEY DO NOT HAVE A FRIDGE NOR A CLOCK. MOULDINGS NEED TO BE RE-INSTALLED. BEDS ARE HARD BUT YOU GET USED TO THAT. GROUNDS AND POOLS ARE WELL MAINTAINED. LOUNGE CHAIRS ARE HARD TO FIND. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL IF IT RENOVATIONS WERE COMPLETED AND FOOD WAS IMPROVED.

Just came back from doubletree resort in Costa Rica. Great holiday. The resort was clean, staff were very attentive. Food was great at the buffets as well as the a la carte, Went on a tour arranged thru the resort amazing . service. Would go back in a minute!!!

Some of the staff were very good and the rooms were clean. This resort only has 1 restaurant and no entertainment at all! Both pools are in full sun all day, no shade. Luckily there were a couple of nice shady seating areas. The beach is quite rocky in some areas, so shoes are needed to get to a good spot. The waves are fairly big and no life jackets were available, so I was too nervous to take my 8 year old out past our knees. Surfing is the main activity here. No monkeys at this resort 😔, So if that is why you are coming (me) apparently a resort more in land would be best. Walking distance to town, which was nice.

Non-stop music!! Can't get away from it because the grounds are too small. It's quiet only from 1:00am until around 9:00am. Friday night is Disco night - apparently there are quiet rooms, but if you are not in one - you need the air conditioner & TV on. I recommend ear plugs - forget about opening the window!! Brutal!! Thursday & Saturday volume is about 80%. Monday night is the quietest. Always music at the pool (volume blasts when they have a program) & always music at the beach bar. Pros: No smoking on resort property - only on the town road or beach. (Noise pollution instead!). Clean, friendly staff, good food, great weather. Many Costa Rican families with children (the staff says they like the music & they are the majority). Cons: Wide sandy beach, but public - no shady spots. Transit guide advises you not to go into the town at night - not safe. Get drunk in the hotel not in town!!

There is not much included with the stay. The food was OK but it was maybe 6 dishes to choose from. There aren't any activities besides swimming in the pool. The location was good and a quick walk to town. It is definitely a three star.

The rooms are a little old but comfortable except for the pillows. Food is ok not great service is very good though. Beautiful grounds it's like your in the jungle.I would recommend this hotel to family's and couples.Busy on weekends with locals.

This resort is pretty quiet, at least at non-peak times. The room was clean and the AC worked beautifully. The buffet is small and has limited choice but you are able to find something to eat and the food was ok. The resort is far in from the main road so if you expect to walk outside the resort it's a long walk out. You need a vehicle for sure if you want to leave the resort. The pools were plenty and since it was quiet, we had no issues finding lounge chairs. The resort is not well layed out in that you need to walk long distances to get to the beach or reception. If you don't want to walk, you can always rent a golf cart at $45/day. The shuttle does go by every 30 minutes and takes you to the beach, Playa Blanca and Selvemar rooms. Playa Blanca has the most beautiful beach but good luck finding lounge chairs. They are kept tied together due to the high tide and are limited. There is a restaurant at Playa Blanca. This resort is best suited for people with young families or people just looking to relax. The wild life is pretty amazing at this resort also. If you are a nature lover, you will be happy to have went. Def saw lots of white face monkeys around, especially around the buffet area. There is only one buffet area near the Selvemar rooms. The rest of the resort offers restaurant order off the menu. The drinks were ok.

Very nice place to stay in Costa rica. Lovely pools, great food, friendly staff. Black sand beach which doesn't get groomed, so not my favorite beach. Many fun activities in the surrounding area; pay a visit to Victor Hugo and Green Bean for the best tours ever!!!

The hotel was beautiful and the public grounds were kept clean. The size of the hotel room and view was perfect. Friendly hotel staff and great service. The one thing that I did not like was that I found the food to be very salty a couple of times at the buffet restaurant at Doubletree resort. The food was very good at the Macondo restaurant. We had our dinner there a couple of nights.

Beautiful setting, ocean on one side mountains on the other.Comfortable rooms, well kept grounds, walking distance to interesting town, lots of tours on offer but the staff really made the place, friendly , helpful . Outstanding

This was a nice hotel. It was clean, we'll kept and quiet. Staff were very polite, helpful and we're always available to answer questions. The food was okay. It wasn't as varied as I might have hoped but reasonable decent fare. The grounds were well kept but I was disappointed that it closed at 7:00 pm every evening as a night swim would have been refreshing. Great beach access and in close proximity to the town of Jaco which was a bonus. Overall it felt more akin to a hotel than a resort as there weren't as many organized activities as I thought. Two bars and tennis courts and billiards were a nice touch.

The hotel structurally was average and the maid service was very good. The food availability was limited to a Denny's with a standard chain restaurant menu and very expensive and a bar with primary bar type offerings. There were no restaurants closer than an $8-10 taxi ride with the exception of one a few minutes away inside a small mall that hotel staff don't mention. A local told us about it after we were there 9 days but the food was excellent and worth overlooking the facilities. The hotel is located in primarily an industrial area and sidewalks are either broken or non existent so going for a walk is not much pleasure. The location is very poor but in fairness to Best Western other large hotels other than in the city Center are no better e.g. Hilton, Country Inn &Suites.

This was our 3rd visit to Costa Rica, and our 16th visit to the Central American-Caribbean area during the winter season. We had an all inclusive plan. Yes, the complex is very large, but the shuttle bus is regular at 30 minutes for those who prefer not to walk. From the Selvamar apartments, the walk to reception is at most 10 minutes and the the Mantas beach, an additional 5 minutes. The pool is on the way from reception to the beach. The shuttle bus from Selvamar to Playa Blanca is a 10 minute ride, with AC. STANDARD ROOM: 2 double beds, very comfortable to sleep in. AC that is efficient. Generous sized fridge. Very easy to use and generous sized safe in room, large enough to fit passports, wallets, iPad, additional lens and a professional camera with a 400mm lens attached!! By far the best safe I have ever seen in a resort. Cable TV with 70 channels, including about 6 in English including CNN. Several other languages and lots of Spanish, including multiple sports channels (where language is less important). Washroom door we kept open so that it was air-conditioned. Steady access to hot and cold water. Shampoo and soap as well as towels and face cloths provided. Hair dryer in place. All electrical outlets took NA 120 V, no converters needed. Tap water was safe to drink. Two bottled waters provided at arrival. MEALS: Carabelas restaurant for breakfast buffet, lunch and dinner is only a minute or two from most Selvamar rooms. Very good food quality. Superb coffee. Very friendly, attentive service. Fresh fruit and vegetables +++. El Grill is at the far end of Carabelas. Reservations required but no cost if all inclusive. Superb quality a la carte. Beef and fish wonderful. Very attentive service. Leon Marino restaurant, a la carte for lunch and dinner, also very good. Huge portions. Pizza superb, for example. Playa Blanca restaurant similar to LM, fewer selections. BEACHES: Playa Blanca one of the best in CR. Firm sand, does not blow in the wind. Interesting rock features on either end of the beach. Lots of shade. Lounge chairs in shade, cannot be moved. Can rent umbrella and 2 beach chairs, $USD14 for the day. Not really needed unless one is obsessed with baking in the sun. Beautiful warm waters. Occasional surfing activity, depending upon wind and waves. Mantas beach, nearest hotel. Same warm water and rental arrangement. Special water play area for kids, costs extra. A good beach for strolling. Strong winds will bring in jellyfish. POOLS: One smaller pool in Selvamar, nearby the apartments and good for a dip, but often in the shade. Large adult pool near beach and near Leon Marino restaurant. Beautiful grounds, interesting shapes to the pool, very warm water, not deep, great for swimming and aqua fit exercises. Nearby large pool for kids! Both pools have reasonable number of lounge chairs, but again, as at the beach, secured in place by chains so one can only move the umbrellas, not the lounge chairs. Drinks can be taken to the poolside from nearby bar. NATURE: many different kinds of trees, vines, flowers all around the resort. White-faced monkeys are a regular presence at Carabelas, really entertaining. Netting protects eating area from the monkeys. Lots of iguanas on the property. A few racoons. On this visit, we did not see coatis or armadillos. Birdlife fantastic. Local scarlet macaws nesting very close to main road, one would be very unlucky not to see them. Other birds on the property include toucans, motmots, trogons, hawks, osprey, various shorebirds, various smaller species. 615 AM bird walk with naturalist Alex is excellent. He also conducts a very interesting tour of the butterfly area and a night walk (scorpions, spiders). The latter requires proper clothing, so be forewarned that you will be turned away if not in closed shoes and long pants. PEOPLE: Punta Leona is geared largely toward local Costa Ricans, especially Saturdays and Sundays, which would be good days to take day tours outside the resort, as the pools and beaches will be more crowded on weekends. Many of the staff have limited English, though this is not an issue at reception or at the restaurants. A limited Spanish vocabulary would help. For us, the heavy CR influence was really nice, as we felt like true visitors. Outside groups included Canadians, Americans, Germans and a few other Europeans. A nice mix. So why is the title only "virtually perfect"? Finicky in-room internet connection (even though it is free to use). Bar Cafe 1492 (beside Carabelas and the Selvamar pool and apartments) was only open on Fridays and Saturdays during our early February visit! Only one evening of local entertainment. A few more evenings of entertainment would be welcomed. Overall, a superb resort that we will visit again in the near future.

Our vacation was pretty much perfect. Nothing but sunshine and blue sky. Resort was beautiful. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was fresh and delicious. Lots of birds and other wildlife around. Very natural setting. Not commercialized like so many other places we have been to. It is a long trip to get there though if you go by bus and ferry. I would recommend to go by small air plane from San Jose to the resort. It is only a 30 minute ride compared to 5 hours by ferry. I would go home by ferry though because you do get to see a lot of the country and stop to shop in a small town on the way back. But either way it is a great place to vacation.

Room and deck were nice, private, clean, Wifi was fine. Our room was close to buffet and to smaller, quieter, shaded pool. Buffet was adequate and Le Grille good and well served. Took local bus into Jaco for a day. Did a crocodile tour on Tarcoles...Jose was great guide. Did a ATV ride with Vista La Suenos tours...good value. All inclusive worked well for us. Friendly staff. Busy with locals on the weekend...no chairs,etc. at the beach pools.

Well where do I start. This was the first time we have traveled to Costa Rica and It wont be the last. After a 5 hr plane ride to San Jose We were greeted by Nolitours and off to the Ferry at Puntarenas. Great scenery and lots of hills. The ferry ride was more than an hour but beautiful view of the gulf of Nicoya. Wish we had the option of flying direct to Tambor and save more time to enjoy the Resort. Arrived at Paquera and off to Barecleo Tambor. Arrived and had no problem booking in to our room as there was only 4 of us that was on the mini bus.The grounds are magnificent and well taken care off. The Iguanas, squirrels, and doves kept busy looking for hand outs but didn't bother us at all. The scarlet Macaws flying over head and in the bird sanctuary were breath taking to see and its good to see the re introducing of endangered animals back into the wild. The parrots greeted us with Ohla. The howler monkeys religiously arrived around 5 pm to bask in the shade and cool off. What a hair raising sound they make!! The pool was clean and warm and enjoyed every minute. The pool activities helped wear off some of the drinks. The weather was nothing but perfect as we had 7 days of full sunshine and no clouds. Couldn't ask for better. The bartenders especially Kaylor in the main bar beside the stage was so amazing in making us feel like a close friends. I told him how to make a peralyser drink and he liked it. He should be recognized for his efforts as he works so hard at what he does. The bingo they had before the main entertainment was hard to follow. I know that Spanish is you main language, but it would have been nice to understand the jokes as we felt out of place. We laughed anyways. The food in the buffet was excellent and always a variety for everyone. The only draw back was at the steak house. My wife asked for here steak to be well done and it came between medium rare to medium. The ceaser salad was supper salty and the portions of veggies were small. The beach was fabulous and took a walk at low tide to Tambor, a small village at the west end of the beach. We purchased some liquor and as we were heading out of the local grocery store the worker came out and gave us a a small bottle of the local Costa Rican 5 year old rum as a gift. That made our trip even more unbelievable. At night the stars were so bright and felt like you could reach out and grasp them. The security was present all the time and we felt very safe at all times. Went to Tortuga Island snorkeling and had a blast. Saw tons of fish and lots of crabs running along the white sand beach. The bbq was excellent and the beers were cold. Went to the Curu wildlife reserve and Douglas our guide was awsome and we would recommend him as a guide as he new so much as if you went by your self you would enjoy it as much. We learned many things about the animals and foliage of Costa Rica. About 10 white faced capuchin mokeys gave us a show and were almost at touching distance. The pictures were amazing. Saw local deer, butter flies, rodents, and herons. This trip was the most memorable one we have taken and plan on going back to this resort as its a resort away from the big cities and we felt soooo relaxed. The only thing is that we wished that Nolitours gave us the option of the plane ride not the Ferry to bet us back to San Jose airport as getting up at 3 a.m. and the ferry ride at 5:30 a.m. then the long ride to the airport used up to many days of enjoying the resort. Didn't get home till 1:00 a.m. the next morning and made for a long long day. Thanks again for a wonderful experiance Barcelo Tamabor Beach Resort.

Stayed here for a week with my boyfriend. We loved it. Lots to do and see. A little removed from town but taxis or car rentals can take care of that. Rooms were totally fine, we had a selvamar standard and it was perfect for us. Food options were far better than most other all inclusive we have been too. Beaches were outstanding!! Plenty of surf! Staff were all exceptionally nice... as it's a private club/resort no panhandle trying to sell you things on the beach. Overall excellent vacation. Very quite resort, except on weekends when locals come in! This is not a party resort, that being said yiu can still have lots of fun here. Excellent wildlife all over to see. Pura vida!

This hotel is old and in need of some updates. The rooms are well cleaned by the staff and the grounds are well maintained. Blackbeards restaurant serves a buffet style breakfast, lunch and dinner. Food is pretty good and lots of choices. Bar service is very good. Employees are always smiling and friendly. Only real complaint was loud and noisey neighbours, and slow service of wine at lunch and dinner,

This is a second trip to this resort! Hotel and staff are great! Everyone is very helpful and friendly. Beaches are beautiful! Food is wonderful. Lots of variety. There were lots of things to see and do on the resort. Only complaint was lack of shuttle buses to the beaches. Also, on our last day we rented a golf cart and ended up wasting an hour of our time waiting for the golf cart store to open up. We were told they opened at 9 but they didn't show up until 10. Reply from staff was "I guess they slept in. Try in an hour". Over all, great resort!

Pools were clean, staff were friendly and helpful, food was delicious, and you never wanted to leave the beach! Would highly recommend Morgans Cove to other travellers. Jaco is a great place to be - easy to explore other parts of the beautiful country from here.

The food was good, great variety. The room was small and could be up a dated,but who stays in there other than to sleep. Walking distance into town felt very safe during the day. Fabulous restaurant just outside the resort across the street.

I like the area because it's close to activities. My room was OK, the seafood restaurant is definitely a better choice for a la carte. I suggest that Double trees please make some updates to the rooms and food. The area is really struggling for tourism and a need to bring tourists back to this area is crutial. Our local tour operators are suffering as well with the decline in tourists.

Very clean ,Ideal for business. Staff is excellent !! I've stayed several times, great value for money ..Shuttle from airport! Wake up calls free phone and internet ..Easy access to buses .. All in all ideal location for first stop in Costa Rica .Stay a day or a week you will not be disappointed .. Ask about corporate rates .. They are very compliant, if you have client card .. The desk help is excellent .. Can't go wrong !!!@
