My wife and I had a pleasant and relaxing time in April at Oceans Divi Little Bay in Sint Maarten. Having stayed at more than a dozen 4 and 5 star resorts throughout the Caribbean, I can safely say this resort is a solid 3 star for quality. The more expensive Oceans all-inclusive is totally integrated with the rest of the resort, timeshare owners and day visitors. Highlights: Friendly, though overworked, staff. Excellent made-to-order pizza at the "Slice" pizza shack and shrimp taco from "The Shack". Excellent three level infinity pool with plenty of loungers. Likewise at the sargassum-free expansive soft sandy beach. On the other hand the entertainment was mediocre and our room had several issues. A bonus from Air Canada vacations was that their bus, that shuttled us to and from the airport, also provided us with a 4 hour tour of the entire island (with 1 hour stops to discover Marigot and Philipsburg) for only $25 US each.

The staff truly made this vacation special. I believe people treat you the way you treat them, and everyone at the Divi was warm and welcoming. A special thank you to the ladies at reception, and to Edrick and Felix for helping us get to our rooms. We travelled with our mothers, who had some mobility issues, but the golf cart service made getting around easy, especially with the stairs and longer walks. The food was fantastic! We found the Premium option, which you can pay for when you arrive, was worth it because it gave us access to all the restaurants and cafés on site and in turn offered more dinner options. Mimi and Caron at the breakfast buffet were lovely, and Laurel at the pizza place was a friendly face we were happy to see each day. Booking dinner reservations was easy, and we were never limited when reserving. The property was clean, and the view from our third-floor Oceans room was amazing. Fort Amsterdam was also worth the short walk. We went every day to see the baby pelicans and iguanas and enjoy the beautiful views. The ocean and beach were beautiful, and getting beach chairs and umbrellas was never a problem. Every vacation is what you make of it. Things move on island time, so it may feel a little slower than what you are used to at home, but with the right attitude, you will have a wonderful time!

Oceans by Divi Bay Resorts in St Marteen exceeded our expectations! Views, setting, pools, beaches were all absolutely beautiful! Resort was clean, fun, rooms in Oceans offered stunning views of Caribbean and resort grounds! All staff friendly, professional and kind!

We had a wonderful stay at Divi Little Bay Beach Resort. The location and beach are specular. Rooms were modern, well maintained, and offered better charging options than many business hotels. Pools around the resort are plentiful and refreshing. The resort is close proximity to Philipsburg, Simpson Bay, and not too far from Marigot. The food and bar service were excellent, especially the lobster dinner and prime rib night. The only small quibbles are that restaurant service could be slow, especially at dinner. Also, we were required to check-out at 10 am and lost access to the All Inclusive Plan at that time, despite having not arrived at the hotel until nearly 4 the prior week and having a later airport pickup than check-out time. Most All-inclusive resorts don't skimp on a couple extra hours of day service in this way. Also, the Nespresso machine in our room never worked and was never repaired, despite several requests. These are small details relative to the overall quality of the resort.

The room needed a proper deep clean, the hardware had lots of limescale buildup. One elevator not working it took over ten minutes to get an elevator with our luggage. On other days we ignored the ‘for emergency’ signs and took the stairs. Staff isn’t friendly and almost rude. The loud plane sounds gets annoying.

Nice resort with their own bay, very clean everywhere! Good assortment of restaurants! Hotel room was well laid out and lots of space. Approximately 20 min. walk from Philipsburg, bit hilly but very doable. Only thing I'd like to mention is that the flight with WestJet was operated by Swoop and that was very basic. No screen availability. Luckily we didn't have someone sitting beside us but my husband could not sit straight with his legs

Oyster Bay Beach Resort is very nice. It's a little off the beaten track so a car is very useful. That's also what makes it a quieter place to be. Nice beach but not very long for walks - just go back and forth a few times. Good service on the beach setting you up with loungers and umbrella. Lovely large infinity pool - though it could be warmer, and the hot tub should be hot not a warm tub. Our room was a spacious 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite with kitchen. TV channels and reception could be better. Food is good but with only 2 restaurants it's good to venture off the property. The French side is very close and has good restaurants.

The hotel is very nice. The staff were amazing. The location of the hotel is perfect close to everything. We enjoyed the food and look forward to returning. Highly recommend to all my friends It was a nice touch to be greeted with a rum punch My only complaint is that there was no hot water in our room

All was spectacularly good, Resort, Astrolabe, staff. This was mine 29th visit to Saint Martin and although the first time without my dear departed wife, Jana, the stay was good, very good. Will certainly consider another visit to Esmeralda if .. (90 in Jan, however consider lasting to 100).

The Ocean point hotel was nice. It’s an older resort the rooms and especially the bathrooms could use a refresher, of paint. The restaurants were just ok Azul was one of our favourites. There were several pools but some are shared with the Maho hotel which is a family resort, which are also shared with some restaurants. On the Adult only side there was only 1 pool with a swim up bar. The other issue we found was the washrooms were far away from the pools. The views of the ocean and mountains were amazing. This is not a 5 star resort as listed it’s more like a 3 star. All and all we had a good time and the outside area around the resort is very safe and the shopping was good.

Everything was amazing about this resort. The food was delicious, the grounds and facilities were immaculate and the views were stunning. The best thing about this resort was the people. They were consistently friendly, helpful and informative. Trip Central ( Candice Anger) was very helpful and knowledgeable in booking this resort and our preferred room.

We loved the island, watching the planes, the beaches, resort food and wonderful staff. Resort was very clean. Only negative was smoking and vaping around pool all day, everyday and not in designated areas.

This resort at one point could or would be a gem unfortunately unless you are at the adult side Ocean Point this is where you get the full top class treatment. The Sonesta Family side is not up to par with basic customer service standards of a hotel and this property is listed as a resort. There is no consistency with the customer service and its always lacking as most of the staff do no care and are not happy working there. When we had issues there was never any empathy or compassion rather they were more annoyed that we even flagged the issue. Our room had poor AC issues and toilet not flushing and a room with children why allow guests to stay in this broken room as I am sure this issue was previously documented. We should have been moved but this did not seem to be a priority. The guest had to constantly follow up no one would call back or provide a response its left to the guest to continuously call for an answer as they simply do not care. I made the suggestion can I get a fan and one was provided however they never even provided alternative methods or supports and the island is in one of the hottest month August. The resort is always packed so they do not procure food for the amount of guest as food would run out at the buffet and would not be replenished or maybe it would be done when they felt the timing was right. So if your child is hungry and all the bacon ran out maybe they would refill it or maybe after a half hour some would come out. Food was not labelled properly so good luck for people with dietary restrictions. Again all down to customer service and the staff there are very new and young and simple do not care and the more seasoned workers are very set in there ways and rude. The plus side is that the food was tasty, the beach was beautiful, the resort was clean and some what modern the few staff that did take them time to smile was so pleasant and genuinely happy to conversate and smile with you. The pool was decent for all age groups. The have kids and teen clubs. The staff is always quick to tell you when you cant do something or no or no we don't have this however if they saw you with an empty glass or sitting at a table waiting or you needed something answered no one would be looking or offering to help. They assume you know all their processes or even what we can or can not do. We had no idea that there was an infinity pool as it was located on the adult side however all guests had access to this pool and we found that on the plane back home from another guest at the resort who also said they did not enjoy their stay. There was no one that seemed friendly to talk with as most staff was just miserable, unhelpful and unfriendly. As beautiful as this island was I would never return to Sonesta even on the Adult side I hope a big chain goes in and really shows what a resort experience should be. Thankfully to a bad experience at Sonesta we ventured off the resort (which location wise is amazing not far from anything) and was able to see more of the island and eat at their restaurants which the food was absolutely delicious off the resort. The island was fun to experience on both the French and Dutch side and we always felt safe.

This resort is lovely, clean and nice. Views are spectacular. Definitely not a 5* hotel and not new so be aware that your expectations of 5* luxury will not be met. Bathroom is very small, very low water pressure, not good for 2 people; somewhat dingy. However, you are paying for the amazing views and the incomparable beach. Food was excellent everywhere we went, service was great and we always felt safe. We had a swim up room facing the beach. The pool filters don't come on until the morning so look closely at the water if you plan to enter the swim up first thing - it was gross and dirty from overnight swimmers. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays there is a bbq by the ocean facing pool - the wings are INCREDIBLE and perhaps the best thing we ate!!! A WORD OF CAUTION: while we were on the plane coming back, the hotel attempted to charge almost $5,000.00 to my credit card. WHY? This left a very bad taste in my mouth and it was definitely not a coincidence that this happened while we were on the plane.

If you’re looking to unwind from a stressful job and just take a break in the most beautiful picture ass place in the Caribbean, this is your hotel just arrived. Home from a weekday. Staff was wonderful. Food was adequate but definitely quiet and relaxing.

Great location, close to the pools and restaurants. Super courteous staff. Excellent food morning. lunch and dinner. Short walk to the lobby. The market is equal to a super market. Great selection of wine and beer. I could even find distilled water! Cabs at the door will drive you anywhere. The best resort we have been to. We will probably return.

Just returned from a wonderful week at Ocean Point. The resort is beautiful and well maintained. Our room was spacious, comfortable and had a great ocean view. The food was very good. Portifino is a gem built into the rock with a waterfall and such a great idea that Azul changes their lunch and dinner menus every day. Such great views from all the restaurants and the Sunset Lounge. We found the staff very pleasant and engaging, especially the team working at Azul (Sidia, Emmanuel’s, Danica, Jennifer, Rihanna, Scheinder and Lina). Our Housekeeper Faneza was lovely and a shout out to whoever filed our ice bucket on many occasion - so thoughtful. We never had to fight for lounge chairs at any of the pools. Loved the Edge Pool. If you are a beach enthusiast- the beach is not overly expansive however the resort has done a good job of providing a beach like feel just above the beach access. If you are a plane enthusiast - this is the place for you! But if you aren’t I found that after the first few hours the noise didn’t interfere. Great sound proofing in the rooms. Earliest planes leave at 7 (smaller planes) and last plane arrives no later than 8-830. I really enjoyed the quiet, tropical, peaceful atmosphere.

We just got back from a lovely stay at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort, and overall, we'd give it a solid thumbs up. It's a great spot whether you're wrangling little ones or enjoying some grown-up time. Plus, you're practically next door to that famous airplane landing spot – pretty cool! Beach/Pools: Good (Plenty of Space to Splash and Relax) The beach was just right – not too packed, and we never had trouble finding a chair to plop down on. Bonus points for the almost complete absence of algae during our April visit! The pools were nice and sparkling clean, with some seriously fun zones for the kiddos. And that one pool bar? Kept the good times flowing (even if the selection was a tad cozy). Service: Good (Hydrated and Mostly Happy) The service was reliable. Our room always had a fresh supply of water, plus a few welcome colas and beers. Housekeeping did a decent job keeping things tidy. Just a little tip: the toilet water could get a bit… fragrant, so we kept the ventilation fan working its magic or ask the housekeeping to put some blue stuff to help. Food: Good (Something for Everyone - Mostly!) The food options were surprisingly varied, and even this self-proclaimed foodie found plenty to enjoy. The offerings even changed a bit from day to day at the same spot, which kept things interesting. However, a word of warning: steer clear of Jing, the Asian restaurant. Honestly, they might be better off turning that space into, well, anything else! We did venture out once to Jax Steakhouse and had a great meal there. Rooms: Good (Comfortable Enough for Post-Sunshine Slumber) The bed and pillows weren't exactly cloud-like, but they were perfectly acceptable for crashing after a day of sun and fun. Value: Good (Worth It for This Time of Year) For our April getaway, we felt like we got good bang for our buck. Location: Good (Planes, Beaches, and a Little Bit of Everything) The location was a winner for us. Super close to the beach (obviously!), and a stone's throw from the Sunset Bar where you can grab some incredible airplane landing photos (hold onto your hats!). There were also a few shops nearby, a casino for those feeling lucky, and a very handy convenience store. That little shop was a lifesaver for stocking up on drinks, snacks, and even a bit of local "essentials" to spice up our hotel offerings. And don't worry about those planes keeping you up – they mostly stick to daytime hours. Overall Rating: Good All in all, we had a really enjoyable stay at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort. We honestly wished we could have stayed longer!

We enjoyed our stay at Sonesta Ocean Point Resort. Having access to adult only building, bars, swimming pools and restaurants was top notch. The property was well maintained, and well staffed. Meals at Azul Blue Fin and the Italian restaurant were well portioned high quality and visually appealing. Staff throughout the resort were helpful and courteous

Great resort but there is a real problem with birds in the outdoor buffet for the guests and the lunch time restaurant. The birds are all over the table, walking over the table mats cutlery and dishes. Its very unsanitary and we had to eat many times outside the resort. I would not go back there unless they install fishnet barriers to protect the restaurant tables.

The beach was beautiful however there were not enough umbrellas on the beach people were up early to reserve chairs and umbrellas and sometimes were left there empty for hours. The hotel needs some renovation hallway floors were stained. The room was clean. The food was ok. The buffet was limited not much variety. No drink service on the beach or by the pool like other secrets properties. Overall it is a beautiful location they just need to improve on service and food. Also while we were there the dump behind the mountain was on fire for 3 days this was concerning due to air quality.

heureusement notre chambre etait a une extremitee alors nous avions 3 fenetres a ouvrir lorsque tu quitte l hiver ce n est pas pour t enfermer tu veut ouvrir mais pour le reste c etait une chambre confortable.Le resto de la place l Astrolabe tres bon mais redondant ci tu y soupe tout les soir .Pour l ambience un service impecable mais un peut trop europeen c est tres reposant c est pas pour moi j ai besoin de bouger,il faut absolument avoir une voiture pour trouver de la varietee (repas et plage)Pour notre plage nous avions des chaises reservee gratuite qui coutait 40euros avec parasol par jour.La plage est magnifique mais ce vent, trop de vent et les vagues pas moyen de nager la derniere etait de 6 pieds au dessus de ma tete et j etait a peine a 3 pieds dans l eau pour c etait la fin je n ui suis pas retourne.le retour avec air canada pour nous prendre a l hotel c etai horrible 40 minutes de retard un tout petit van pour plus de 50 voyageur valises planches a voile,et kyte on ne povait pas voie en avant tellement ces appareils arrivait au plafon les touristes etaient tres fache la chaleur interieur du vehicule rendait les touristes malades ceci est un gros manque d air canada pour procurer a ses vacanciers un service agreable pour le vol pas de probleme tres bon avion un Boing service impecable un personnels devouer et agreable.

Very disappointed in the resort. The buffet was a disgrace. same food over and over and over food was always cold. Potatoes were mostly rotten. Bacon wasn’t cooked and instead of us serving ourselves they had to serve us and when they served us, it wasn’t with a smile. It was a grin like why should I serve you many others including my wife got food poisoning . lined up in front of the hamburger barbeque next to the pool. The chef was cooking the hamburgers maybe 45 seconds on each side and it was raw inside no thanks. The staff nobody smiled they all look miserable talking to a lot of people on our return trip who said the same thing they all look miserable . The beach, there is no beach. The rooms were OK, but I would not go back to that resort, that resort resort should be a three star not a four or five star . The pool was crowded not enough chairs for everyone. But the biggest beef for me was the buffet and the restaurants that were on the resort. Maybe they should clean up their act. True crowd was crowded

They are still under renovation from prior hurricanes. Was this a 5 star throughout? No. But it was certainly more than a 4.5 throughout hence the 5 star review. It appears they are choosing to spend their renovation dollars wisely. The Lobby is a great start with 5 stars, but then in the hallways to your room you may be wondering is this a 3 star? Then you open your door and it is luxurious 5 stars - the only better I have been in was in high-end Vegas. The food was fabulous, we did not have a bad meal or portion of a meal. Sometimes the buffet was better than the restaurants. The beer and liquor is name brand top-shelf stuff. All beaches on St. Martin are public, but since this is so isolated no issues there. White powdery sand for kms/miles. Turquoise gentle waters due to the partial reef offshore. Depending on the tide, winds, and current you may get some seagrass (seaweed) coming onshore. This only happened 2 days back to back during our stay. Once the tide turns, staff hand rake the beach within an hour. We couldn't get a straight answer other than the resort is fully booked, but it was definitely NOT at 100% capacity as at a guess only 50% to 75% of the rooms have been renovated so far. All restaurants were 'open', just not all the time. The Buffet (Market Cafe) and Himitsu (Pan-Asian) was open all the time due to specialized cooking equipment, but the rest rotated through a single physical location such that e.g. Portofino (Italian) was Day 1, Ratatouille (Mediterranean) was Day 2, Olio (French) was Day 3, then repeat. CoCo's Cafe was open 7 AM to 11 PM. The swim-up bar was not open, but backing it the main pool bar was open. 10AM for beer and 11AM for liquor. If you really suffer that badly to get out of the huge infinity pool or walk 100 feet from the ocean to get your drink this review is meaningless to you. The iguanas are large and 'friendly', well, at least used to us tourists anyway. Isolation: Great on one hand as it is relaxing and quiet. It may only be 18 km/12 mi from the airport but it takes you an hour to make the journey. You may want anti-nausea medication before undertaking this journey which is not for the faint of heart. The islanders say the same about driving in snow (they can't even imagine it), so it is what you are used to. The 2 hour round-trip for excursions really adds to the length of the day. All excursions take this into account so be prepared to start your day very early. There are only 2 all-inclusive resorts on the island, one in the Dutch part and this one in the French part. This island produces nothing other than some fish and 2 kinds of lobster. EVERYTHING else is imported. Tourism is their lifeblood.

Great family resort. I would recommend it to everyone. Can’t say nothing bad about it. Staff are all friendly and can’t do enough for you. John on the barbecue is great and makes the best burgers. A must try.

The check in was odd but efficient. First impression was the complete lacking look of a luxury resort, nothing fancy by any means. Our room was pretty average considering it was a Preferred upgrade. There were severe signs of wear, mold and generally a worn out room. we had a daily infestation of millipedes. The breakfast buffet was the only morning option and it was adequate with your basic standards but again nothing fancy. The buffet room itself should have been updated 20 years ago. Lunch was either at the pool for burgers/hotdogs or the buffet. Dinner was even more disappointing. No where did the Sunwing website mention that most of the restaurants were closed for renovations. We could have the buffet or hibachi. There was a small section of the buffet converted for a small theme area. Generally the food was good but just lacking on options. Again, far from a luxury resort. They class their coffee shop as a restaurant because you can get a cookie there. The Preferred lounge was far from expected, seating for 8 but open to everyone, preferred or not. Sunwing also "forgot" to mention the lack of nightly entertainment due to more renovations going on at the theatre. Their solution was a DJ at the lobby bar. Nice beach, the pool is nice but designed poorly for allowing enough chairs. There were never enough. An employee told us they were closing again at the end of May for 18 months for further renovations. It really needs it. The staff was great but many lacked enthusiasm and we could see why.

The staff at Secrets is absolutely wonderful. We couldn't have been more happy with the care we received. The drinks are incredible and made as if they were out of a magazine. The entertainment was different overnight but great.

The Sunwing Rep was not in the airport terminal with the other reps, she was outside on the sidewalk. No contact information was provided and she did not appear at any other time even though she was sorely needed later. See below. We were placed on the second floor of what must be the original hotel. Since Dorothy has a disability we asked to be moved to the ground floor, which was granted. This room was beautifully situated directly on the beach. It was close to the Office and a short distance to the restaurants. The furniture was nice but the bathroom badly needed a complete renovation. Water pressure was low and there was always a long wait for any warm, not hot, water to appear. The tub was a dated design and posed a hazard since it's side was dangerously high. When the shower was used water poured from the tiles, We were forced to pack facecloths and towels on the tug sill to prevent major flooding of the bathroom floor. Several restaurants did not provide coffee at lunch time and the machine in our room did not work. When Westjet cancelled the return flight at the last moment, a Sunwing should have been available to help us find accomodation for that night. No such aid was provided! The beach is not private and is often overcrouded. We paid huge money for this holiday and it was NOT WORTH IT!

Hotel is older.. Our toilet backed up 3 days out of 7 ..Our room faced the rear of the hotel, which has propane tanks, maintenance bldgs etc. Not very scenic. There was also an unpleasant smell, intermittently, so we didn't use the balcony. Pizza station is really good, as is the coffee bar in the hotel... Overall, would consider it a 3 star resort

Easy to access from main road, essentially its at the very westernmost end of Orient beach so almost impossible to get lost. Cottages were in good condition, some "openings such a s sliding doors, Florida windows etc, had corroded hardware, door bumpers missing, but all very small stuff. The front desk staff were very helpful, especially Felix. Great location with decent peace and comfort after a day on the busy Orient beach.

Just got back from a week here. Cannot complain one bit. Food, service, staff and resort is wonderful. I would recommend it to anyone. Was nice you have access to Maho Beach resort as well but we stayed mostly on Ocean Point side as it is adults only. Ms. Sheryl at the pool point bar is a gem! We’ll be back for sure! Great resort, 5 mins for airport, well maintained, clean, food was very good at all restaurants. Just be warned the beach at the resort is man made and not right off the water. You have to walk down to Maho Beach.

Excellent location only 4 minutes away from the airport. The lobby entrance is for Sonesta Maho Beach while the Ocean Point is in the back a little way further. Located close to the airport, if you’re a fan of watching planes land and take off, this is a unique experience. The vibrant Maho Village is also just a short walk away, offering restaurants, shops, and nightlife. However, while the airport is close by, the noise from planes didn’t cause issues for the stay there. The rooms are spacious, modern, and comfortable, featuring a blend of tropical decor and contemporary style. My room had a stunning ocean view on the 6th floor. Sunshine peeking through the curtains each morning. The beds are firm and a bit on the small size (doubles instead of queens), but that was expected. The bathroom was clean and well-maintained with high-quality toiletries. The shower and toilet though are open and no doors are available. This is the same on every bathroom on the resort. The bathroom was accessible via a sliding door which was stuck at first. Once we called the front desk they had it fixed in less than a few hours. Super fast and responsive to our needs. I appreciated the small touches, like the minibar stocked with beverages, which was filled daily and without fail at the same time. The ice makers are located on the odd number floors though (ie. floor 3,5,7...) Dining at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort was good. The resort has one option for breakfast (Ocean Terrance) which unfortunately had only the same offerings each day. A little variety would have been nice. Also it's located at Ocean Point which required walking through the pool area each time. If you are in need of accessibility options, you will find this difficult as there are stairs, water and a long trek to the Ocean Point location. There are few a la carte options: The Grill (at dinner becomes La Cantina), La Fontana and Ocean Terrance. Jing's Kitchen and The Tavern are available every other day (alternating days), but are located outside the entrance to the resort on Maho Village. This was confusing at first as there are no signs to indicate this. The resort offers a range of activities to keep guests entertained. There’s a large swimming pool, complete with a swim-up bar, which is perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. For those who like to stay active, there are water sports available, including snorkeling and kayaking. The beach itself is lovely, with soft sand and clear blue waters. The resort also offers daily entertainment and themed parties, making it a great choice for couples and families alike. The fitness center was well-equipped, and the spa offers a variety of services, but we didn't take advantage this time. The service at Sonesta Maho was excellent. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always willing to go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome. The housekeeping staff was excellent! They took care of us and were very helpful for extra pillows and towels when asked. Most were polite and professional. The only items I would mention for improvement: 1. The app does not work. The QR code provided everywhere does not open the app on Android. Venue times are available on the website directly. NOTE: La Fontana does not open at 6:00 am even though it is listed on the site. 2. The free WiFi on the resort is abysmal. Max speed was 3 mb/s and averages at 117kb/s. Coverage is also spotty depending on your location. 3. On the 5th day we woke up to a large cockroach in the bathroom. Of all the travels in Caribbean, this was the first time seeing a roach in the room. When we brought it up they went to spray the area and assess the species. We heard nothing back after that. Overall we had a good time here and recommend it for anyone who is looking for an all-inclusive stay at Sint Maarten looking to enjoy the beautiful beaches and unique experiences from the Dutch side of the island.

Overall this was a great resort for the price we paid. The rooms are nice, although there was a sewer smell to the rooms. But this is limited to Garden view rooms, which are facing the sewer. No matter how much we tried to remove the smell, it always came back. Per discussions with other guests, they did not have the smell, but they were facing the swimming pool, and did complain about the noise, which came from the pool. we did not use the pool, as the smell of chlorine deterred us from using it. The pool is quite small, and it appears that there are tons of people in there, mainly hanging out at the swimming pool bar drinking alcohol. There are two slides for kids to use, but one appeared to be flat and very slow. Both slides are extremely short, but the kids seem to enjoy it. Other than that, the staff is very friendly, the food was OK, the beach was small, and the ocean clear. Waves could get quite high at times. So best to be careful, as there are no lifeguards on duty at the beach, or at the pool. The great part about this hotel is that it is located right next to the airport., So if you are a plane lover, you would enjoy the resort. Also the hotel does not appear to have a medic on site at all times. I’ve been to this resort twice before, once in 2014 and a second time in 2016. The quality and selection of the food has gone down, but it appears that the resort has been rebuilt since the hurricane Destroyed 2016. Overall, this is a great hotel to go to if you can get a good deal on it. I would not pay top dollar though. we have met some guests who stayed at the Ocean point or luxury rooms. Although they paid twice as much as we did, they said the price was worth it.

I think we picked the wrong room. We chose a Superior King room and these rooms are located on the street side of hotel where you hear club music all night until 4:00am. This was Thursday through Tuesday. Also, fifth floor has a smell of sewage. So if you stay then ask for a Oceanview or Island view or Pool view otherwise it will be a bit uncomfortable. The food was good and Italian restaurant was best. Beach is great but a bit rough. Pool is okay too but we never used it. Location was great. Airplanes were fun.

It was our first time in St.Martin, we had the blast! Everything was excellent! We had amazing room, wonderful swimming pool, the most delicious with excellent service restaurant and the last and not least - very helpful and extremely pleasant resort staff! We definitely will be back! The beach is really really beautiful, extremely beautiful mountains around!

The walls in the room was durty The floor was clean The bathroom was nice and clean You should clean the wall Very nice view on the 10 floor. To close to the airport. Too nosy airplane comming every 1are 2hours

Very quaint and relaxing resort. We will return. One troubling situation is the small space two parrots are living in. The space is so small they fought and it needs to be at least two or three times the size.

The resort is scheduled to be closed at the end of April for renovations so they let thing go. We had no knowledge of this nor did the other guests -- The Pool was green and not working they advertise this to be the biggest Infinity pool in the Caribbean what a JOKE !!- Really sad it was slimy and green full with algae !! They where running out of inventory ( Alcohol and Food ) Only half the staff where working if that, But I must say the staff that where working did their best to keep the guests happy it was very difficult for them! Restaurants where limited and on a Saturday nite only the buffet was available!! Many guests had a Big cockroach infestation in their rooms!! We have been to all the couples Resorts and a handful of the Sandals resorts thinking we would have a similar experience boy where we wrong! - Secrets St Martin does not even come close to them!! My advise save your money do not go!!

This was the best vacation resort we have visited. The room was spacious, and clean. Our room was at the opposite end of the resort as the bar and restaurants, which was perfect as we like it quieter. Even though it was close to the Infinity pool, it was tranquil, with little noise. This pool was perfect for us, as it was not very busy. There were other pools, but they seemed busier, which might be perfect for some people. The restaurants offered a variety of choices. Our plan only included breakfast, which was exactly what we wanted. The choices were plentiful and well prepared. The beach area was amazing. Snorkelling was great right there, and the beach was clean, and not too crowded. We cannot say enough good words about the staff. Everyone we met was friendly, very competent, and went out of their way to provide excellent client services. It was our favourite vacation location so far and we plan to return.

The food was great in the buffet but the restaurant that should have served the steak on lava rock was on first day closed and then was turned into a Mexican restaurant. They said it was now to be a Mexican restaurant. Also they stated on website that the beach was right there. That’s not so you have to walk about a mile to the beach. I think the resort should offer a shuttle bus to the beach for guests. The hotel should provide a paper map of the grounds and location of the restaurants and the events. The people were very friendly and helpful.A great place for kids. The weather was superb. The space for the karaoke should have been better as was very limited space to sit.

Great location, nice staff and food. Resort is dated,needs a lot of updating. Bathrooms mouldy and rooms are old and dark looking with sunk in matresses. Pool area too small to accommodate the amount of guests and needs a lot of repairs

#1 is the service, smiles and thank you go a long way with the staff. #2 location, minutes from airport, right in town #3 food is similar to 5 star resorts Only downfall is the airport, we got very lucky going through but other travellers waited for over 2.5 hours (mostly issues with luggage, to many planes for the what they can handle)

The room booked was an Island view. This room turned out to be street-side. The rooftop bar and club opened at 10pm and ran until 4:30am or later every night. The music pounded and blared so that no sleeping was possible. The resort was not only not helpful but disrespectful. They said that was the room you booked and handed us earplugs. There was no notice on the website about the noise nor any warning from our travel agent. Clearly this is known to the resort. Other couple were in the same situation. There is also almost no beach. The current is too strong to swim and it is too narrow to enjoy. As such it becomes a pool resort. Pool gets the two stars. There is very little to no entertainment unless you want to go to the all night roof top club or the little casino. The island is beautiful and there are many other locations that would have been much better. The food was overall good but not sufficient to make up for the other negatives.

I've just returned from a week at Secrets St. Martin and I would head right back tomorrow. After reading some reviews I was wary, but Secrets exceeded ALL my expectations. We traveled for my partner's 40th birthday and the resort went out of their way to help celebrate his special day. Our room was lovely and the cleaning staff did a thorough job each day cleaning and restocking anything we needed. The staff were all warm and friendly, going above and beyond to help with anything we needed, especially the lobby staff. Alicia, the bartender at the lobby bar made great drinks and was a pleasure to chat with each day. The pool is outstanding with space for everyone. And the beach is beautiful, private and wonderful for daily swims. Lots of tropical fish to enjoy. All of the a la carte restaurants were a nice experience with no reservations needed (aside from the Teppanyaki restaurant, which is well worth it), tasty food and great ambiance. The buffet was a little underwhelming, but we only ate there at breakfast. We enjoyed the pool side buffet at lunch much more. The location is removed from some of the other bigger towns and cities on the island, which can be a positive if you're looking for relaxing. There's hiking trails close by as well as jet ski rentals (recommend renting from the marina at Island Jet rather than from the beach), and many excursions from the resort. A taxi to Grand Case cost about $13/person. There's also a number of shops just beside the resort that were fun to wander through. I could go on, but overall, I would highly recommend a trip to Secrets St Martin.

Second time at this resort as loved it 1st time. Found staff quite unfriendly and not helpful it was actually hard to get their attention if you had a question! I understand that tourism is the only game in town for employment but for goodness sake at least acknowledge people and pretend you like your job especially given that tips are involved! There was a norovirus at resort the week we were there soooo many sick guests (probably 70%) based on Facebook posts and general talk at the resort. A great number of guests ate off site as a little concerned about food heigene at the resort as virus was revving up during the week. Not the point of going to an all-inclusive to feel safer eating off site! Not sure if resort took this as seriously as they could for eg. Hand sanitizer stations often empty. Know many people who in good faith won't return or recommend.

The hotel was perfect. Friendly staff and close to Orient Beach. We enjoyed it because it had a deck with a table and chairs. We ate our lunch on the deck. Breakfast was fabulous. Fruit, coffee, cereal, croissants and hot food.

The resort was great. A terrific hotel and staff. The room cleaning staff was thorough and friendly. The restaurants were conveniently located and served delicious food. I’m really hoping to return to this fine resort in the next couple of years!

Most of the staff are very friendly and do their best to accommodate you. We first came here in 2022 and again in January 2024. We are beach people and learned on our most recent vacation, this year, that the beach had eroded since our last visit in 2022. Therefore our all-inclusive became not so much of an all inclusive as we spent most of our time on other beaches. On the bright side we divided our days between Mullet Bay and Anguilla beaches. This resort is very clean and I would strongly recommend it for pool people. If you are a beach person, you can still go to Maho Beach but you have to walk up past the other resorts, which is fine, but it is quite busy, especially if several cruise ships come in and be prepared to be sand blasted from the airplanes.

Very nice, chill resort, excellent food, beautiful breach, attentive and friendly staff. Alcohol selection was better than a lot of resorts we have been to. Only complaint was that the evening entertainment was lame.

Trip date Sept 28 to October 5th -2023 Overall a very good resort. Sunwing lost my bag so had no luggage for 4 days. Main Oasis pool was closed down for renovations on day #4 of our trip. The alternate pool provided for guests was to small to accommodate everyone at the resort, so timers were used at lounge chairs which seating to begin with was very limited due to minimal chairs. Unfortunately, due to the construction repairs on the grounds, the resort did not have a beautiful vacation vibe as it would most presumably would have. It was disappointing that we were not notified of the pool closure prior to booking. The waves in the ocean due to hurricane Phillipe were very high and strong - so beach use during pool reconstruction was not an option for my elder husband with hip and shoulder issues. The Oasis main pool for this resort -we were told will not be open for possibly 2 more months- this will be determined depending on the extent of repairs required to fix once it is diagnosed. Some guests were very disappointed as they paid more for pool/ocean views without warning either of this construction on site. Food on resort was very good. Resort staff were terrific. Friendly island. Dealing with Sunwing was not a good experience at all. Lack of communication from Sunwing staff regarding lost luggage. I spent the first 4 days trying to track down my own luggage with very little assistance from Sunwing. Hotel, room and restaurant cleanliness was very good. I would recommend this hotel once pool renos are completed and avoid booking with Sunwing and rather go with WestJet..

Excellent. Courteous and professional staff and servers. The pool wasn’t that inviting, but the beach was a blast. Could do with a few more umbrellas. The food is excellent in all the restaurants. Spacious and comfortable rooms. Great entertainment at all the venues on the resort.

Resort is nice unfortunately the service and restaurants are lacking even the front desk It seems like there is not enough workers working. if you purchase preferred club its not worth it your really not getting anything different so save your money.

We’ve stayed at this resort twice now and had a great time. The location is great, right on the Maho strip on the Dutch side. Multiple beach options close by Maho on resort, mullet bay 7-10 min walk and cupecoy maybe 15 min. The food was all great, rooms were super clean and the resort is constantly being cleaned. The pool has a fun energy with entertainment. It’s a great home base for your trip to St. Maarten! Be sure to venture off the resort, the island is safe and friendly no need to stay on resort the island has so much to see and is easy to navigate by bus, taxi or rental car. A true 4 star! Not as luxurious as some 5 stars but the price reflects. Great value! Fun for the whole family, couples, young or old.

The hotel is nice, not too big which was good for me. Food was very good with lots of variety. Location very good nice pools, beach not that great but the're lots of nice beaches on the island where you can go by taxi to spend the day. I booked the oasis poolview room in which I got a beautiful view of the pool and Ocean. The room is spacious with a round table and three chairs. My cleaning lady was Marie who did a good job cleaning my room daily. All the staff were very nice. This was not my first trip to this beautiful small island and it's certainlly not my last.

The staff at this hotel, every single one of them was amazing. Their hospitality, attention to detail is something you would enjoy and expect from a resort. The rooms are updated and very clean. The grounds are in good shape, and the beach is beautiful. The problem with this hotel, is its food. It is one of the worst food experiences in my life. Basic 3-5 ingredient food would taste better than what I was given, which is why i'm absolutely shocked by how bad it was. The most edible plates come from the buffet. My first night I got food poisoning from "FRESH" red snapper, which is a total lie. It was rubbery and raw at the same time = flash frozen. But I couldn't see how it was cooked, because there is no light to inspect anything that you're eating. That lead to 2 days of nibbling on processed foods to become well again. The next time i tried a restaurant dish was a pad thai, that had a pool of straight oil and black and burned peanuts, which I became sick from again. The sushi rice was like eating glue. The next day in the buffet the sushi rice was cooked correctly and was edible, I must add. Many other items my wife and I ate were just technically prepared wrong, and didn't taste anything like what it was supposed to. She had a putanesca once, that was like dog food placed on top of linguini or tagliatelle (pasta was horrible texture). On that dog food, was thick cut pieces of serrano ham that had gone RANCID. Okay... RANCID, I put it in my mouth and tasted the rottenness and acidity of meat gone bad. The juices in the morning were fermented! Bubbles of fermentation on the sides of its glass, the taste of kombucha in apple juice? orange juice? pinapple juice? I'm the least picky person when it comes to food, I eat everything. I barely ate here. They need to fix this ASAP.

This place is great! Nice hotel, helpful staff, beautiful rooms, great atmosphere and with lots of fun during the day. The beach was clean, lots of sun chairs, not crowdy. All restaurants and buffets have great food selection.

Excellent accommodations trip was smooth no hassle. I must say Natasha did very good job it’s our first time and we enjoyed our vacation. The food was good the service not so good overall an amazing time. I would book again if I go to another vacation with Natasha she was very helpful

Overall it was a nice resort. It’s clearly an older building but the rooms are clean and not musty which you tend to find in a lot I’d tropical resorts. Beds were comfy, staff nice and for the most part accommodating most of the restaurants were good. The Italian was very nice, great ambiance,views and food. The Palms grill was terrific, even the village tavern offered decent pub style food. The Chinese was so so, and being a vegetarian the buffet did not offer all the choices I’m used to finding another resorts. This is beach front - sort of. There are palapas and sand and loungers but there’s a wall - it’s built on a rocky part of the ocean, so you can get sand in your toes on the property but have to go down a path at the side of the property to get to the public beach - which is also shared with a beach club next door. The loungers and umbrellas in the beach belong to the beach club next door. We would go down and swim then Come back up to our chairs. They have two pools one a larger pool and one for kids they were okay. Pool bar was generally busy nice bartenders. The cafe was sparse, I think they’re still setting it up - not sure. Overall for what we paid it a decent value. This place s close to the airport, oh and don’t rent from the car company in the lobby you can get a better deal at the airport.

We were welcomed on arrival with a lovely drink, steel drum music and lovely friendly faces. Room was ready for us and we were able to unpack, shower and freshen up for supper. Within 2hrs there was a Knock on the door and a lady there with a plate of treats and balloons ready to decorate the room for my husbands birthday, what a lovely surprise. We dined at the buffet and it was lovely, plenty of variety and everything we tasted was flavourful. We had two doors that would not shut, One was the bathroom and the other the closet. Within an hour of reporting it, maintenance was there and problem solved. Staff are so accommodating, so friendly and the resort is immaculately clean. Workers continue to keep this look on every floor. Washrooms in all common areas immaculate, women are always there maintaining the cleanliness. Bar staff and waitresses are amazing. All restaurants have a wide variety of food that tastes fantastic. Our favourite was the Italian but loved them all. Our only “negative” was the evening entertainment, not enough live shows and those we had only lasted an hour. Karaoke is ok but not great to keep guests interested. Beach is not great, lovely to look at but as it’s on a deep slope, very hard to walk. Strong undertow kept us from swimming. Fun to watch the planes. Need more shaded areas for guests to relax out of the sun. We loved this resort, and would definitely recommend. Sunwing reps were fantastic and always there every day to assist with any questions or concerns.Dave’s Open top bus tour was amazing, well worth including in your stay. Very safe area and Loved that there wasn’t any mosquitos too. Weather was fabulous the whole week.

The hotel was clean, the dining was great, and the people were lovely. The only thing is I didn’t swim at the beach only once because I got pulled in from the undertow. So that was the only disadvantage.

Hotel rooms were clean, and it was easy to get around the resort. Several options for dining. When we checked into our room it overlooked the family pool and we thought it might be loud in the evening, but all was fine. Shower in the room was a bit odd. Glass only half way and water leaked on the bathroom floor. Otherwise, room was fine. There are NO beach chairs/umbrellas on the beach, only on upper level which was disappointing for us as we wanted to be at the beach rather than pool but also required umbrella. If we had stayed for a full week, would have been very disappointed.

This is a great well maintained, top notch resort. The staff are exceptional particularly Cheryl (at the Point Pool) who is like a warm hug, Diane (a staff manager who oversees service in the restaurants and pools) who really encourages excellence from her staff in such a pleasant and professional manner. Dining is great especially at Azul. Portofino and Blue Fin would benefit from a more varied menu. Having said that, the staff and kitchen were open to accommodating requests. The drawback is the lack of a beach. Although picturesque, the shore does not lend itself to a beach. The daily casual entertainment poolside was great! Overall, this is a great resort if not do pricey.

We received an excellent welcome upon arrival and were offered champagne and warm eucalyptus towels. We were promptly ushered to our wonderful room which happened to be dead centre on the pool and ocean views. Lovely. We enjoyed staff members who were engaging and helpful. Carmelita and the resident bartender at the Italian restaurant were very friendly and helpful. She was very sweet and made an excellent hostess. always enjoyed our dinners a little more because of her kindness.

This resort was right on the beach (just a few steps down but easy to navigate). Beach area was small but on a calm day the water was so clear you could see the fish without goggles/snorkel and the bottom was all nice white sand. The planes were cool and didn't interfere with the beauty of the place. Great food options and the buffet changed it up daily! Great location - easy and safe to walk across to the casino, restaurants, shops and to other close by beaches (10 minutes to Mullet Bay and 20 minutes to Simpson Bay). Mullet Bay was a little bigger but busy - could rent chairs. Simpson Bay was quiet, not many amenities, but you could walk for miles along the beach. Local bus (van) stopped right in front of hotel and took you to the Dutch capital, Philipsburg for only $2 and it ran frequently. Pools were great and lots of different activities going on throughout the day. Evening events varied - some music/dancing, karaoke, illusionists. All were good but ended early most nights. Rooms were clean and balcony was great. Overall, a funtastic vacation!

This was our first time in St. Maarten and at Sonesta Maho Beach beautiful hotel rooms were clean, food was great loved the Italian restaurant, cooking steaks on lava stone was pretty cool. The people were very friendly and helpful. The entertainment with Mike Price the juggler was amazing and Mack was funny and entertaining. Favorite bartenders were Eddy and Daniel both were so friendly and a great help when asking where to go in St. Maarten. I was worried about being so close to the airport and having the planes fly over but I have to say it was entertaining and absolutely amazing walking over to that part of the beach to have them fly over you. I would definitely recommend this resort, just make sure to book room poolside or field side quieter. Thank you to Trip Central and Tammy Beamish for booking our vacation and being so helpful

Sonesta Maho Resort was the nicest place we have ever stayed. Friendly staff, clean rooms, excellent food and well maintained grounds. The Italian restaurant and Palms Grill were our favourites. So nice not having to make reservations. The buffet was your typical all inclusive buffet - I’ve had better and I’ve had worse. The bartenders and servers were friendly and efficient

Pro The weather is the same almost everyday. 28°C during the day and 23° C at night. Stayed on the 7th floor in a signature oceanfront room. It was nice. The showers are kind of odd in that they do not have a door so water goes everywhere no matter how careful you are. In room safe, coffee, water, pop, beer and liquor. The staff are amazing. Everyone from the grounds staff to the servers, the front desk staff, the restaurant staff and especially the house keeping staff are always happy to help. Every single one of them is concerned about your experience and your happiness. It warms my heart to see that they take care of the many stray cats. Being right next to the airport you would think that would be a drawback but it’s not. It’s loud but nothing before 8AM and after 8PM. It’s actually very cool to see them land up close. Food is pretty good but unfortunately no wow moments. Never had much of an issue getting a pool chair. Some people abuse the reserving of chairs but that’s the same everywhere. Most of the guests were very friendly and pleasant. A handful of selfish people but again that’s the same everywhere. Cons Smoking at the pool, on the balconies and in public areas. Even an ashtray and smoking spot right outside the main doors heading to the pool. Cigar and cigarette smoke everywhere. It’s nauseating. Music blaring from an off site venue from 2AM-3AM one night. Bass booming and headache inducing. Live music in the pool area louder than necessary.

Great food!! Very, very clean. Staff are all friendly and very helpful, with the exception of the front desk staff. They were not helpful at all. We have already booked a return visit! I would highly recommend this resort!!

This resort was amazing! We thought we would tire of the planes. Further from the truth. Each and every day we were amazed with them. Took lots of pictures. We did the island tour and rum factory tasting. Wish it was a bit longer. The food was excellent. Gentlemen, no need for long pants, as long as you have nice shorts and a collared shirt. At La Fontana's ask for Meena as your server. She was so much fun. Only down fall was our room was on the casino side of the building and it is loud until about 3am. Bring earplugs. Otherwise we had a fantastic time.

Sonesta resort in St. Maarten is the best resort we have been to so far. First of all, the location is beautiful with acces to two beaches and Maho beach is right nearby. The pool area with a bar is seperated from kids’ pool, and their aquatic exercise program is very good. The food is amazing, there is a lot of selection for vegetarians as well as meat lovers. Their fish is really good. The resort took extra precautions to prevent covid spread in the buffet area so the guests are not allowed to touch food. All staff wore gloves and served you the food selected. The facilities and rooms are clean and washrooms in lobby or close to the eating areas are being constantly washed. The resort also has restaurants that one can use instead of buffet and there is no sign up and line ups for those. It is on first come first serve basis. We got where we wanted without waiting. The Italian restaurant was especially beautiful with outdoor view on the ocean, but many people loved the grill where you make the steaks on lava rock. The arrivals/departures and trips were well organized. The rooms are spacious and clean. We really enjoyed staying here.

The La Playa was a good place for us to stay on our trip to St. Martin. It was close to the beach (although the view from the balcony was not at all good). The breakfast was excellent and the staff very friendly and also excellent). The room was well equipped and very modern and nice.

This resort is certainly a 5 star resort. Great location and if you enjoy watching planes you will love this place. The good thing is the planes do not fly during the night. We had a room on the fourth floor and what a view. Food was excellent and so was the service. Lots of gluten free options. Nice that you do not require reservations and we never had to wait. Lots of bar options with the lobby one being our favourite. Good entertainment and the afternoon entertainment you can listen to from your room. Good size rooms and great housekeeping. Resort is well maintained and friendly staff. Resort is safe and you can wander out of the resort with no fear. We had daily walks out of the resort. Would certainly entertain coming back

From the moment we arrived we were in love. The staff, bartenders and servers are all wonderful, funny and kind people. The food at all the restaurants is wonderful. The hotel is clean, the rooms are spacious and clean. The views are amazing (we had a city view room). Got to take lots of pictures, from our balcony, of planes landing. Lots of loungers around the pool. You’ll love this place.

My first time back since the hurricane in 2017 and it's better than ever. The buffet is so fresh and varied, you can't go wrong, after being there 2 weeks we never got tired of the options. The Italian restaurant, La Fontana, all decorated in white is so beautiful, sitting right beside the ocean with the sunset, priceless!!!! (I paid an upcharge for a whole lobster and highly recommend it). Lava rock cooking at The Palm is fun, one of my steaks was good, the next time it was fantastic!! We never even got to Jing or Village tavern. Maho beach is always a blast for those steady on their legs, the pool bar is a real social hotspot if that is your thing. The dining staff are so much more accomodating than before covid, makes a nice difference. The hotel is super clean and the large rooms and service are top notch. Entertainment is sub par. Overall value far exceeds anywhere else I've been.

Stayed at the Sonesta Maho with my sister-in-law January 12-19. Even though the hotel is not “adults only”, having the kids section at one end of the pool helps with the feeling of an adults only hotel. Just enough activities, and they are not in your face wanting you to participate in activities. The live music by the pool was great!!! The evening live music was fantastic too. Amanda (recreation supervisor) was fantastic, she was energetic, enthusiastic and friendly and professional. Traits of a great recreation supervisor. The options of restaurants was good too. And I was so happy to see reservations were not needed at the speciality dining. Finally. What I can say needs improvement is the upper “beach” area. The area is covered in sand and feels like a beach, but there are several rocks and pieces of concrete. In fact, I fell at an area that was soft, but caught the edge of concrete, and scraped my leg. It could have been worse. Guests at both the Maho and Ocean Point use the same area, but one of the guests felt that they could “reserve” the whole front row of lounge chairs. And several guests put towels down on chairs and then never show up. The hotel should not allow reserving chairs with “reserved” signs or towels. All in all, the food was good, staff were friendly and the location is good for singles and families. Being in Maho village gives a change from the hotel scene, with other stores, restaurants and bars. Walking distance to Mullet Bay and the famous airport beach.

Loved the hotel, our room was on the 4th floor and it faced the Disco. I was awake until 330 for the first 3 nights of our stay. Then they closed for 2 days. The sound was so loud that l could clearly hear the DJ and what he was saying and all the words to the songs. I did let the hotel staff know, but l do understand its not there problem, they looked for another room but the hotel was full. If l return l would ask for another room for sure. But then l was told the price will go up. Loved all the restaurant's, staff was amazing and so friendly and very hard workers. Wish you could of had more live music outside at night. Loved the Beach party band, DJ on the Friday was great. More of a DJ, Live band at night so people can dance all week long would be fun Also the saving of the beach chairs l think was completely out of hand. I would like to sit with an umbrella and chair. I was getting up at 730 to get a chair and umbrella and people had taken most of them. Maybe have a beach attendant to make sure people use the chairs and are only holding maybe 2 at a time. Overall l would come back and hope to see a few improvement's. The weather was amazing and that made the trip even better.

My husband and I stayed a week and couldn’t have been more happy! The grounds were beautiful the food was amazing, but most of all the views were spectacular! We overlooked the marina with a view of the mountain, it felt like we were in paradise!

The hotel is very clean; staff are always cleaning the washrooms everywhere. The restaurants were OK, not fabulous. The Jings Restaurant was the worst one. Most of the food was cold and seemed like it was sitting there awhile before we got it. Good selection at the buffet. Not much in entertainment, but the Casino is across the street and there was many bars and restaurant all within walking distance. Taxis always available at the front to take you anywhere. Very friendly staff. Being our first time travelling since the pandemic, we noticed that some staff were wearing masks, which was fine by us. The hotel was not full at capacity, which suited us also. The beach was busy only one day of our 7 days when the cruise ship arrived in port at Simpson Bay. I would highly recommend this hotel because of its location, cleanliness and beautiful beach.

The hotel looks very nice after its renovation but there are still some areas needing some TLC. While there are quite a few restaurants on site, most are not open every day, so you need to do a bit of planning or you end up at the buffet. There is not a lot of activities at the pool or on the grounds during the day, so if you are looking for pool games and rowdy times near the pool, this resort doesn't have that going on. The evening entertainment also left a bit to be desired and was not as theatrical and to the same levels as other resorts we have been to which makes sense given the other entertainment off resort the Sonesta is competing against. The food was good and the bars were well stocked and usually pretty quick to get a drink. The beach started off poorly but improved once Henry from the Islander Club starting putting chairs out again. There are no actual Sonesta beach chairs on the beach, you are on a man-made beach area and then walk onto the public beach. We took a walking trip to Mullet Bay one day and it was lovely with a calmer beach (water wise). Watching the planes on Maho Beach was fantastic. The lobby bar was a bit disappointing too as it is within the mini-casino, so no children are allowed which makes it difficult at the end of the day to sit around after dinner chatting or listening to live music etc. Overall, its a solid 4 star resort. With some refinements to the exterior amenities, more to do during the day, better access to restaurants and Sonesta chairs on the beach, it could be a 4.5 star.

This was our 5th time returning to this resort. We love the staff, food, cleaniness of the rooms. Our only disappointment would be the entertainment. The other issue we had was the LaFontana will not let you wear any kind of hat. There was alot of guests very upset at this new rule. I can see not wearing shorts but a hat is really not that big a deal, you are on vacation after all. Also pool liner needs replaced real bad.

This resort is nothing as advertised. We made the best out of our vacation. Staff was very friendly. The Preferred Member status was a joke. Don't pay the extra $, everyone gets the same treatment, no perks. Beach was an extreme disaster. Certainly not what was advertised. during the entire stay, the beach was partially cleaned once. There were only a couple restaurant choices. If it wasnt for the friendly staff, bartenders, trip would have been a bust!

I travel a lot and have been to almost all the islands. this is my second time here. This resort is awesome. Staff was friendly and so hard working to keep everything spotless. All the restaurants were great with lots of choices. Our room was kept super clean with a stocked fridge and bar. The café offered what ever coffee you fancy and the staff were always friendly and efficient. We will definitely being going back..

Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Room service is exceptional. Food was good in all al a carte restaurants as well in the buffet, loved the beach however it’s not for non swimmers for sure. Landing airplanes were a bonus.

Looks new, modern, very clean, friendly staff, good food. Lot of historic/ touristic places to explore around. Lots of extra activities offered to you by a friendly and helpful Sunwing girls. e.g. (sunset cruises, deep sea fishing, snorkeling, sail around the island cruises etc.). A-la carte restaurants/pub/bar available to you inside/outside the Resort without extra charge!. (without limitation or booking in advance). ATV/buggy rental available just meters from the hotel (SXM Rally Tours). We've had a terrific stay. Thanks.

The resort was amazing, clean, and service was great. People were friendly and there were a variety of cuisines. I will be visiting Sint Maarten again since there are a lot more places to see. Such a beautiful island and resort!

The setting for this resort is stunning and the beach is truly spectacular. The facilities however require a major facelift in terms of general maintenance such as paint, tile work and overall landscaping. The staff at the resort are warm, friendly and sincere in their quest to provide good service. The food choices are limited, especially after hours, but tasty and well presented.

If you're looking to party this not the place, if you want a romantic getaway then this is perfect. The staff was great, food was good, entertainment was what you'd expect. They are still trying to get up to secrets standards but are almost there. Pool and ocean were fantastic. We had a swim up suit and was definitely an added bonus. The resort is in a small bay surrounded by hills and only on other small resort there. Very pretty area. Overall I really enjoyed my stay there

Hotel was clean and easy to navigate. Elevators were quick and lots of room with three of them. Food and Service was great at all restaurants we visited. Lots of choices with multiple locations. Location of hotel was awesome being located right beside the small downtown area including Casino.

The resort was beautiful, the food was fantastic, but the location could have been better. Our first room overlooked a local night club, and after two nights of pounding bass until 3am, we requested a room change. They moved us to a pool view room which was much quieter at night. The resort is located on Maho Beach, known for its proximity to the airport runway and the unique experience of literally standing under planes as they are landing and taking off. While there were only 4-5 large planes landing each day, there were numerous commuter flights so you had the noise of planes landing and taking off for most of the day. Mullett Bay Beach was just a short walk away and was much quieter and calmer, except on cruise ship days when the beach was lined with chairs and umbrellas and people.

The resort was great. The views and scenery were amazing. Every day i commented thay it was the most beautiful place weve every been to. The tempurature never went below 27 and we barely saw rain during the day. We stayed in a Marina view swim up in building 4. We had full sun from 7am to 2 pm. The swim up pool was clean and warm. The main pool could have been cleaner. They vacuumed it daily but the edges needed to be scrubbed. We were there the week after Canadian Thanksgiving and the resort was pretty empty. This resulted In rotating closure of the restaurants nightly. There were always 2 open and while the selection was limited the food was always excellent. The breakfast and lunch buffet had lots of options. Coco Cafe always had lots to choose from. We had room service on our last night and were NOT disappointed. Everyone was super friendly and very helpful. There weren't a lot of activities but again - it wasn't busy. Everyone said it's the slow season so it's understandable. They have a free shuttle the Philipsburg on Thursdays - be sure to sign up early as the bus fills up. We did jet skiing through the Marina next door and had a fantastic time. We also took a taxi to Pinel Island for some snorkeling and a change of scenery. It was disappointing that all excursions started on the Dutch side of the island and that you had to pay extra for transportation to get there but it's only a 30 minute drive to get to most places. I would definitely go back. This is not a resort if you need lots of entertaining but it was a fabulous relaxing resort and it was one of the best vacations we've had. There was a mix up with our room and didn't get to our correct room until nearly supper the day after arrival. I don't think this was the resorts fault - more so a booking error. The resort was able to rectify the issue though. The beach isn't long and we like to get for long walks but managed to find a nice trail just outside the resort and felt very safe walking it daily. There are massive iguanas everywhere but they didn't bother us. Half of my pictures were probably of them!

This was truly paradise. The hotel was clean and very beautiful. The meals were 5 star and the food selection was abundant and very very fresh. The most impressive thing about the resort were the people. I have never met such happy helpful staff. Shout out to Jardin (the exercise leader), Beatrice (who looked after our room), All the wait staff in the restaurants, too many to call out but all great....Thanks guys

Like hotel very much, clean room, ac working very well ,greens nice and cut/trim People working for; hotel,restaurants,bars, good hard working people make thinks happen My wife loves it if wasn't Fiona hurricane would have perfect holiday lost 3 days of sunshine

Food was awesome at every restaurant. Service was slow especially at the buffet. Covid protocols are still in place at the buffet meaning you are not able to serve yourself. Unfortunately they don’t have enough staff to accommodate these protocols. One person is serving 3 stations. So it takes forever for breakfast. Omelet station was the worst so was toast station. Beach is very small. Can’t walk the beach. The airport is right on the beach but the airplanes don’t bother you. Every once in awhile they go by and it’s actually cool to look at. Rooms are modern and clean. The moon bar is next to the hotel. Our room was directly behind the night club. We heard music after 3am but it didn’t bother us because the AC is loud on the room and muffled the noise. Sunwing checkin was the worst I’ve ever encountered. Sunwing staff were great Great food clean hotel and the ocean was wonderful.

Food very good but clearly imported and not locally grown. No Guava for instance. Nice beach but some would find it wavy. You can walk 10 minutes to Mullet Bay Beach which has calmer water and rent a deck chair for $10 U.S. We would have preferred to pay less for this all inclusive resort. People crowded elevators and talked excitedly, not good practices for Covid.

The resort rooms are very nice and clean, the staff was very nice, but all other aspects of the resort were very underwhelming. Restaurants/Bars: The pool restaurant (the Grill) was not open for 5 of the 7 days we were there... the bar closest to the beach was only open 1 day out of 7 so we had to haul ourselves from the beach all the way around the pool to the pool bar. They had a daily drink special which was good but the line ups were not good, on the last two days they had someone on the beach taking orders thank goodness. While the food was pretty good the choice of restaurants that were open was not good having 2 restaurants available per night meant line ups and the sushi restaurant was only open once while we were there, also the sports bar was not open at all while we were there. We ate off resort two nights to alleviate the boredom of the buffet. Water: finding water for the last 5 days was brutal, they ran out of water at most of the bars and you had to go up to the coffee shop at the front of the resort to find cold water. The Beach: The first three days we were there the beach was disgusting, no one raked, there was seaweed everywhere, broken umbrellas and just an overall lack of care... the view at the beach was amazing. This is one of the most expensive all inclusive resorts we have stayed at and it totally was not worth the money we've had better experiences at some 3 star resorts. Also people were leaving early and we almost left early but met an amazing couple so we stayed and stuck it out.

La Playa is a wonderful resort. The staff provided superior service and were consistently friendly and helpful - truly the best I've ever encountered. The resort still looks brand new after being renovated in 2019 and is maintained extremely well. The rooms were spacious, beautiful and well designed. The grounds and landscaping were immaculate, along with the beach area which was cleaned and groomed every morning. The menu options and food quality at the restaurant was also great, and the venue provides a spectacular view of the beach. The resort is also situated within close proximity to many other restaurants and stores which were only a short walk away. We had an amazing week and definitely plan to stay at La Playa again.

Exceptional food for an all inclusive resort. Very friendly staff. Perfect location for someone looking for activity and night life and an excellent spot to base island tours and activities from. Variety of shopping nearby, walk to three separate beaches within 15 min.
