Beautiful Beach; Amazing snorkeling
The beaches are private for this resort and absolutely stunning. The snorkeling is some of the best we’ve ever experienced. It’s like having your own personal aquarium to swim in. You are guaranteed to see some pretty phenomenal fish and sea critters every time you go out - and that’s right off the beach! The resort itself is aged and could benefit from some renovations and upgrades. Not all the staff speak English, so some communication was difficult. There is only 1 buffet restaurant- you won’t go hungry but the food is far from gourmet.

The Resort is in poor condition.
The resort is in need of a renovation. We went for the scuba diving which was excellent. The dive staff were friendly and helpful. The Staff at the resort are excellent. The property and beach are beautiful, but the buildings and rooms are in poor condition. We had no running water for the first four days in our room. Fortunately they had showers at the dive shop. The food was good, we could always find something we liked.

Disappointed
Roatan is beautiful, our resort disappointing. The staff were very friendly and hard working. They did the best the could with what they had. Our beach was breathtaking so beautiful and the snorkeling at our resort was awesome. Thank goodness because the resort itself was very disappointing. It was very run down. we never had hot water the entire week we were there. Cold showers all week. Rooms and bedding extremely dated and wore out. as well as towels etc. No a la carte ( they were extra) 1 buffet and 1 snack bar very limited selection. the hours of the buffet and snack bar overlapped and nothing in between. No coffee bar. Very limited drinks (alcohol) all served in paper small cups no fresh fruit or garnish. The entrance to the resort boasts pillars that the lights have been knocked off or fallen off the cobblestone roadway overgrown and dirty. No security at the main entrance (building empty) once inside the main entrance your security guard lets down a chain for you to drive through ( that's the gate)It was like since the resort opened there has been no maintenance or updates. No fresh paint , old shingles on the stairs everything is deteriorating, the curtains on the buffet look as though they hadn't been washed since they were hung I am guessing over 10 years ago. you will drive over a very suspect wooden bridge and see lot's of garbage along the way as well as a completely deteriorated tennis court. you do not get any pop or bottled water in your mini fridge only a open picture of water not very sanitary. The pool was so cloudy you could barely see the logo on the bottom. The beach was amazing and very clean. It was raked daily. The re rest of the grounds had a lot of garbage and very poorly landscaped. No pretty flowers just overgrown hedges Excursions were great and very reasonable. The resident monkeys Monique and Paco were a delight. Definitely the potential to be a beautiful place just needs some TLC

Pleasant Surprise
Most of the reviews are correct, the hotel is clean, staff are very friendly, beach is fantastic, can’t get better snorkeling right at the beach at the gazebo and out by the channel no need to pay to go out by boat, food was plentiful and good all buffet style. Choices beef, pork, chicken, pasta and fish almost everyday. Rooms overlooking the beach are great, The resort has friendly monkeys that come around and are playful but will steal your stuff! The alcohol included is normal but for premium stuff you will need to pay extra, no blender drinks and seems strange entertainment still is going on and the bar closes at 10pm. There is a little bar down at the marina open in the evenings at 2$ a beer, great hosts Chris and Lori, nice spot to have a drink before dinner and talk to the people around the world who berth their sail boats for the winter. Would return as value for the $ and that it has 3 outstanding beach’s and plenty of lounge chairs shade or sun.

Amazing Beach and Snorkelling
I just want to say the beach and snorkelling at this resort is amazing. The resort is not what I had expected from reviews I read. The resort is dated, the beds are rock hard as well as the pillows. There is only 1 small buffet with limited selection for any meal. The food was good however, there is only 1 snack bar that is only open from 11-3pm and only serves hot dogs, hamburgers, French fries and pizza. Buffet only open for the 3 meals BF 7-9am Lunch 12:30 -2pm and dinner 6:30 -8pm. If you didn’t get there when the buffet opened they ran out of certain dishes and would not replenish. The resort does offer an a la cart menu at the buffet for $$$ Coffee is terrible, wait staff will not bring you coffee. Just water and pop. Coffee is Nescafé instant and milk is either powdered coffee whitener or carnation 2% canned milk. Drip coffee was horrible. No cappuccino and specialty coffee available. Milk for cereal served hot. Many complaints all week with lack of hot water in the rooms. Once a complaint was made they staff would fix but it happened daily. No hair dryers in the rooms ladies. If you ask for one at the front desk you must leave your drivers licence for collateral. Air conditioning is great, we had a hammock on our porch over looking the ocean. Plentiful beach chairs and shade. Cleaning staff work hard and are awesome. Room cleaned and stocked with fresh linen every day. Room bar fridge only had a pitcher of water. No bottled water or even beer or pop in the fridge. So strange. Water cooler outside every building. No ice machines. Staff are friendly and some speak English. The pool is a mess and people barely used it. More used for diving lessons then by patrons. Pool has crack edges missing tiles and is murky at best. You cannot see the logo at the bottom of the pool. Water clarity is terrible. Never clear looking. There is a swim up pool bar but it was not operational the whole week we were there. There is only 1 bar and only open 10am-10 pm. We were refused when asked for more than 2 drinks to take back to our table of 4. So two people would have to go to the bar to get 4 drinks for our table. Only one person serving at the bar which at times was frustrating waiting. No wait staff to bring you drinks. Tipping does not get you any better service either. There are 2 monkeys onsite and they are playful and will let you hold them. They are mischievous and will take items. Will miss the monkeys Poco and Monique. Entertainment was a joke. Overall it is a beautiful location but too bad it has been neglected. I will definitely go back to Roatan but would not go back to Fantasy Island Resort.

Fantasy Islnd
Fantasy island resort and dive center was ok. If you are going there to dive or snorkel you will not be disappointed. We saw so much marine life right off the beach Absolutely amazing The beaches were great also and since you are on a private island...very private. We loved it. The rooms were acceptable and kept very clean The buffet was ample but nothing fancy but we certainly didn't go hungry. The cheeseburgers at the Palapa were pretty good. The bar was ok. Very little choice and even a simple upgrade to dark rum cost. No blender drinks or mojitos or anything like that but ok. Two drink minimum so if playing cards with four people more then one person would have to go up to order. Not a big deal... just strange. The white faced monkeys running around the resort were friendly and very entertaining Overall this is a great little intimate resort. It is a bit tired but would not take much to make this place a booming five star. We really enjoyed it.

Nice resort!
We Like the grounds, the garden keeps nicely, public areas made comfortable, rooms good size, staff try to keep room clean, but the water pressure poor, some times will make you in stress. Dinning rooms, we like to have our meal on the terrace , it's nice view from here , the meal was fresh but limited of juices. Our recommendation: improve water pressure, add more the drink staff choices in rooms and out of rooms.

Fantasy Island
The resort is truly a place of spectacular beauty. The beach is wonderful. The staff is numerous and friendly. They keep the resort clean. Rooms were made up every day and the room are very comfortable. The diving and snorkelling right off the gazebo is amazing. Where the resort falls down is in the other services. The drinks were very poor made with watered down liquor and cheap bottled (Ocean Spray) juices that tasted of bland North American processed food. The bar ran out of beer several times while we were there. The entertainment was amateurish and deafening. The staff tried really hard to make it a fun experience, but it was something to stay far away from. I found the constant noise in the resort grating after awhile with large speakers playing loud Latin music constantly. The food was varied and well presented, but it and the coffee were almost always cool to cold despite heating plates everywhere. Fantasy island is what it is: a middle of the road dive resort, but it could be so much more with just a little bit of improvement. At the price range it sits in, it does quite well, so it is comfort on a budget.

Awesome Fantasy Island!
Hotel location is awesome, the island is one of a kind...everywhere you look is paradise. The room oceanview is memorable as you wake up with a beautiful view every morning. Food was awesome, but surprisingly they were lacking of seafood, did not see shrimps for the whole week, just fish. Good for vacationers that love snorkeling as this is what the island is for...

Amazing beach!
Walk out of the lobby directly on to the sandy beaches of Roatan! Beautiful views with numerous lounge chairs by the pool and ocean! No fighting for a spot to sit! Amazing snorkeling at the bunglaow with rentals available near by. Only downfall to this resort was food, not many choices during meals however few repeats for dinner which offered different choice each night. The restaurant was up a set up stairs which would not be benificial to those with mobility problems. Some rooms were a little far from the main lobby, about a 5 minute walk however not an issue for us but could be for others. Rooms in the newer development are very basic with no phone or outlet in the bathroom but also how much time are you going to spend in your room after seeing this beach?! Limited drink options and times as the bar was only open from 10 to 10, and only one on site. Service was mediocre when it came to meals, no enthusiasm from the staff as experienced in other resorts. Many options for tours of the island which were worth doing! The beach is something to see, options to sit on the main beach or even another just adjacent but a different world! Would recommend to those who love to snorkel or dive!

Beautiful for diving and snorkelling
This resort is set in a beautiful jungle surrounded by crystal clear ocean, which is pretty deep right from the shore. It is a DIVING resort and MARINA. I wouldn't bring kids unless they enjoy nature and diving. Also not for party people, bars close at 10pm. Great food, great service, great diving centre.

Great value and location resort
First impressions didn't bode well but the beach, snorkeling, food and staff of the resort led to a wonderful vacation experience. The entrance to the resort needs some major sprucing up along with trim work and painting of some buildings. The buffets had quality but limited food choices and coffee could have been better but we all ate tasty meals through the week. Rooms were basic but most all faced the water and beds were comfortable even if the sheets barely fit the king sized bed. Staff we always helpful and courteous and rooms were always cleaned well each day. We were in a section where there were roosters and hens running wild in the area. Could have done without the crowing of the roosters in the early morning. A little swim across a channel from the resort provided some of the most spectacular snorkeling over reefs I've experienced. Definitely the resort to go to for that.

Worth going back to
If you want 5 star amenities, pay 5 star prices and go to a 5 star hotel. If you want a clean, comfortable place to relax and enjoy yourself, this is a great place to go to. It wasn't ultra-modern but it was cozy and had charm. The staff was cheerful and helpful, and worked hard at keeping the place clean and tidy. The lobby was always swept clean and the beach was always kept raked and litter free. Hammocks were scattered throughout the grounds and one was on our porch, overlooking the sea. There was always something going on during the day if you wanted to join in and a good choice of tours off site. We really enjoyed the beach; it was out of the wind and big enough that you could be away from other people if you wanted to. The snorkelling is great, with rentals available I you don't have your own. Each of us thought one week here wasn't enough. I haven't been anywhere I've travelled to twice, but I would happily return to Fantasy Island.

50/50 DRAW
We stayed at FI for one week in Feb. 2018. The grounds - beach, reef, waterfront - is pretty hard to beat, anywhere. If you've ever snorkelled or wanted to, this would be the place to start - and expand your experience. The rooms were great to sleep in. They were, however, a little musty smelling (you're in a jungle) the fridge didn't work well, the air conditioner struggled to keep up - the shower leaked and we only had hot water 50% of the time. However, we didn't go on vacation for the room so it was FINE - and kept clean. The food was not a 'luxury buffet' and didn't have Cuba's variety - but it was like eating really good home cooked meals. Always fish plus pork, beef or chicken. And tasty. Salads. Fruit. The coffee is brutal. No one in our party of 7 got sick at all. The grounds are old but swept and raked. It needs a serious update. (NO KIDS CLUB - NO ZOO. False advertising.) *** I'd go back for the REEF (we're snorkellers) and the beach - stunning and lots to explore.

Natural wonder
The Fantasy Island grounds and surrounding waters are just amazingly gorgeous. The staff work hard to serve and are wonderfully friendly. The rooms, however, need refreshing and I found them quite dark. On the positive side, the maid always cleaned the rooms in a timely fashion. The food is good. The choice is less abundant than other all inclusives (it felt like I was eating at a pot luck), but the quality was good and there was always something to eat. The fried chicken was fantastic, and the wine was good. The dining experience, if you get to sit out on the veranda, is stunning. You are eating at nicely appointed tables overlooking the ocean and pool area. The service is good and attentive as well. The down side: there is no kid's club. This is false advertising on Sunwing's part. There is a hut on the beach that rents kayaks, swim vests, and has an animator that "may" play games with your child if you need them to. There is no space for the kids, no place for games or art like in Cuba or the Bahamas. The animator quit after we were there for two days. The replacement didn't really "like " children, as far as playing with them goes. The only thing that changed was a complaint to the Sunwing rep who spoke to the animator. Suddenly, she said to me, "I will do whatever your child wants." Big teeth, big smile. I didn't feel comfortable leaving my child with someone who was a quick stand in. There is no zoo. What they have is a huge chicken coop with roosters, chickens, ducks, and a goose (I loved that one). The roosters have you up at 5:00am. It is a filthy place that looks like a prime spot for PETA activists. Other than those two complaints, I would return. The service is great, the food really tastey, and I can not begin to express how amazingly beautiful the vista is. The water's colours are like a painting....oh......wait and see what swims beneath those waters: large baracuda, moray eels, trunkfish, parrot fish, sting rays, giant rock lobsters...... Need I go on? Just go!

Classic
Fantasy Island is a smaller, friendly resort that is centrally located on the Island of Roatan, so excursions in all directions are shorter, very important as the local roads are very rough. We enjoyed the wildlife wandering around the resort, and the perfect natural fish aquarium off the board walk gazebo. Where you could feed hundreds of fish a few bread crumbs, enjoy an evening stroll, or use as a jumping off point for a great snorkel adventure. The grounds are kept immaculate by the staff, with the beach being constantly cleaned and cared for. There are about twice as many beach chairs as guests so saving chairs is not necessary. There are no bad areas to spend a beach day, collecting shells or snorkelling around the lagoon. The Kayaks available at the beach shack are great, there is a perfect loop around the island to paddle that's just the right length. Rooms are large and comfortable, with daily housekeeping who quickly fixed any concerns we had and were always ready with fresh towels. Food is above average, and the service is great, especially Alvin and Eric who quickly new exactly what our preferences were for all meals and drinks and made sure it was looked after as we sat down. Lunch at the Beach Bar was a great change where we could get table service and enjoy a good pizza or a cheeseburger. Breakfast on the outside balcony every morning was a treat offering great views of the beach and water while you enjoyed the amazing fruit and tasty omelet, Our excursions were handled by a Selvin Tinoco (Transportation Island Tours) a local guy we found who took us on three great trips that gave us the history of the Island, interaction with local wildlife, and the local culture along with stops for the great views along the way. Travel to and from the airport was handled very efficiently by Sun Wing and the staff, with check in done and bags in our room shortly after arrival. Evening beach parties and entertainment were enjoyed by all. The negatives: the possible bug bites, take repellant, as Canadians we should be used to this, but a little on your legs before heading out will save a lot of itching. They could use a few more Kayaks and maybe some paddle boards for the beach as the water is calm and clear perfect for both activities. We would have enjoyed a gym to add some weights to the daily routine of walking/swimming/paddling, maybe in the future. The beer choice is limited, the local brew should be added to the selection as it is very good (got some on one of our excursions). We will return to Roatan someday and will definitely book at Fantasy Island Resort.

The BEST way to relax
This resort has great food, some of the best resort good we have had. Our room was clean, A/C worked well, everything we needed and it all worked fine, only thing wrong was the bathroom door latch. Staff were all pleasant, but English was limited with some restaurant staff. Are bar choices are limited. We had a great week, beautiful location. AND the snorkeling right off the resort was great, many fish and corals to see in the clear warm water. Some sand fleas, but not enough for real problems. Our first time at Fantasy Island and second time to Roatan, but likely not our last to this island.

Very nice location
Everything was good, the location is amazing. The only minus -sand flies whose very itchy bites (hundreds of them covered my and my friends' body), we had to treat for three weeks following our vacation. Although there was a person spraying some chemical around the beach at 7 am every morning, it didn't seem to be effective enough. It would be great if the management decided to do something about it. Otherwise, I'd recommend this resort. It's a true paradise for snorkeling lovers and divers.

My new favorite Resort!
Fantasy Island Beach Resort & Dive Marina Roatan, Honduras I have to say after travelling to numerous islands and locations within the Caribbean, that Fantasy Island Beach Resort & Dive Marina in Roatan, Honduras is now my ultimate favorite location. My son & I met many friendly individuals who had nothing but nice comments to say regarding this resort. Many of whom were returning guests for many years. I am pleased to say that I will definitely be adding to that list of returning guests :-) The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. I have to give Kudos to the Animacion staff who seem to work many hours with a continuous smile on their faces. Obviously they love and appreciate their jobs which show in their demeanor. The rooms could be updated but not really a necessity as in reality, we are really in the rooms only to sleep. All rooms have a beautiful ocean view. Above all...this is an extremely safe resort. I never had to worry about anything. Most importantly, one could relax without being harassed on the beach by vendors. This is a private beach. The grounds are well maintained and the beach is a painters dream! Absolutely gorgeous with an array of blue colors teal to turquoise. Jaw dropping views. It was my sons first tropical experience & he absolutely loved it. This is a diver's and snorkelers dream as this is the second largest reef besides the great barrier. All kinds of ocean life was seen. Super safe to swim, snorkel & Dive. The food is quite good. Buffet style but with quite a good selection and variety. The only suggestion I would make is to have a snack shack & bar (hamburgers/hot dogs etc.) no $ on the beach. This is a very relaxed resort. There is no need for fancy clothing. The highlight was our little monkey friends (4) that roam the little island at their will. They come at various times of the day to play with you. They literally hop on to your shoulders. Hold on to your shades and cups as they do tend to run off with them...quite amusing monkeys. My experience at Fantasy Island was fantastic. I'll rate this as a 9 out of 10 in my books for a 3 star resort. I will definitely be promoting Fantasy Island Beach Resort & Dive Marina to all my friends...In fact 2 are going in December 2017 thanks to my feedback :-) Looking forward to my return in October!

Snorkling excellent resort poor
Very rundown resort. Looks like it was good long ago but it needs many repairs and cleanup. On the pool deck there was the same animal feces beside a chair all week. The pool was not clean nor the grounds around it. The food was very limited and not hot. Coffee was not hot and tea rarely available even when i asked for it every meal. Although I advised of my food allergy every day and every meal they never made any attempt to help me. I couldn't have dairy and they put cheese on everything. Inbetween meals no food was available. There was nothing to do if you were not snorkling or diving. No activities available during the day and very little animation at night. There were 6 kayaks but 5 had holes and would sink when out in the ocean. Our rep said she would arrange lunch for us before leaving for our return flight but it didn't happen. The resort was far from full- maybe about 30 people tops and the lunch would have to be ready 30 minutes earlier. Lunch was scheduled for 12:30 and we got picked up at 12:15. I know this was a 3 star resort but I have been to many 3 star resorts and never was disappointed. I've paid less money for 4 and 5 star dive resorts this year and in the past and been very happy. This resort didn't deserve a 3.Maybe a 2 I will say the other travellers were great and most of the staff very friendly. Judy from amination did try her best to get people involved at night when she had planned an activity and she was very sweet. Room cleaning ladies were quick and efficient, always smiling. The snorkling from the beach was excellent!! The people we met and our experiences off the resort were great and therefore I will visit Roatan again but not Fantasy Island.

Beautiful beach! Great for divers and snorkelers. We stayed two weeks in room 217. Very clean large room, King size bed, large shower, in room combination safe. Beautiful ocean view! Good food but not elaborate. The main building reminded me of a grand southern plantation. Lots of charm! I would recommend this destination to friends who love nature and aren't hung up on luxury accommodations.

I almost want to keep this place a secret!
This was our second trip to Fantasy Island and we are already looking forward to trip #3. If you are looking for a 5 star luxury resort with night life and partying then this place is not for you. But if you want to relax and enjoy the peaceful, beautiful beaches and natural surroundings then you will love it here. It is a small resort with approx 100 rooms, all with ocean view. Yes, the rooms are dated but they are clean. In my opinion, the food is plentiful and great. Drinks are ok. Staff is friendly and helpful. Snorkelling and diving is amazing - like nothing I've seen else where. I almost hesitate to tell anyone how great this place is - I want to keep it to myself.

Fantasy Island Beach & Dive Resort
Dates: Feb 16 - Mar 1 2015 The Positives: - Spacious room, comfortable bed, large safe, good sized closet and bureau - location was great, for an quiet, beach/dive vacation. Nice water access, and the natural reef kept the surf away. We didn't do any snorkeling, but others we met did, and said it was good. and I saw some great pics from those folks. - Diving is the real reason to go to Fantasy Island. Onsite dive shop was top notch; friendly, spacious boats, qualified staff. We loved the all inclusive dive option, as that gave us the flexibility to dive when we wanted, without any fuss (just be on time for the boat departure, and you're in ) - tasty food, but as others mentioned, fewer choices than what you'd see at a 5 Star resort. Since this isn't a 5 Star, we were not disappointed. We were well fed. - smaller resort, means fewer guests, which is a bonus for us. The ability to catch up with the same folks over the two weeks we were there meant we made some new friends, and had lots of laughs. It also means there was never a shortage of chairs on the beach, and we were always able to finds sun/shade depending on our desires; even on the days some cruise guests came to enjoy the beach/snorkelling. - Friendly serving staff, and front desk was efficient. The grounds crew worked like mad men, to keep the beach clean and raked. With several days of very significant sargassum deposits blowing it, that was no small feat! sargassum Room for improvement/other things to note: - I never have 'tummy' troubles when on vacation, but on this trip I had some. Nothing that held me down long, but my partner did on a couple of days, and others we spoke to also had some days of discomfort. I narrowed my trouble down to the salad bar. My guess is it was the creamy salad dressings, rather than the veggies. Although it's hard to say. We are not big drinkers, as we dove most days, so it wasn't alcohol related, to be sure. We heard that there had been a considerable amount of staff turnover at this resort in the recent weeks, so I speculate it's a lack of training on safe food-handling somewhere in the kitchen staff. - If you are sensitive to bug bites, be sure to bring bug spray for the sand fleas on the beach, and something for the itch (antihistamine) , because you will likely get bitten some. Mosquitos don't bother me much (hey, I'm a Manitoban!) but the sand fleas did catch me. - There is little entertainment in the evening, so you need to make your own fun (see small resort above) There were a few bonfires in the early evening, and some cultural dancing, plus recorded music or Karaoke in the snack bar most evenings for those who are inclined. Not our thing, so can't comment much. - Although the locals from the Island all pretty much speak English (this is a former British colony, after all), many of the hotel staff come from the mainland, where English is not as widely spoken. Expect some occasions when having some Spanish will facilitate your communication with staff. Everyone works very hard to be pleasant, and fulfill your wishes, so this isn't really a problem, but is just something to know. Overall, we had read the reviews before we booked, and as usual tossed out the really bad, and had a good idea what sort of property we had booked. We were not disappointed, at all. I loved the 'cottagey' feel of the place, with the wood floors on the open air verandah, and the white painted railings. There is sea view from pretty much anywhere you park yourself, and cool breezes. If you book this resort expecting a 3 star, low-key, quiet place, you will not be disappointed.

No disappointments-
Just got back from Fantasy island on Feb 4/15. Beautiful location, quick check-in, and room was spacious and clean. Stayed in room 222 which had an amazing view and was in reasonable condition, save the shower and bathroom door...they needed work but passable. No worries about salt water showers, actually was very nice on the skin and really liked it. Was short on hot water a few times but just avoid the busy rush after the beach or at 8 ish am. but no big deal really. Staff at the hotel were average and a few were great like friendly Frank. He always smiled and was helpful behind the bar or as a server...$$ tips didn't seem to encourage the rest however lol. FOOD was always good however not a ton of choice ...but there was always something tasty for everyone (no bacon for you lovers...ever). Beach was really nice, clean and clear water on the main beach. Snorkeling was amazing and lots of water life to enjoy right from the beach, or just jump on a boat going out for a better experience in the reef for a few bucks in tip money. Bottom line...'to avoid disappointment... lower your expectations' and then this is a good choice especially for the $$ if you dive or snorkel. It is 28 years old now, and bit tired and aging, which is a shame. I can only imagine what it would have been like when it was younger. Would have been the most private and wonderful place and BTW the beach/views remains it's strong points. If you want relaxation, privacy, this resort is a good economical choice (3 star) Must do: Would be to go to Gio's restaurant for the seafood feast for $40 an head. It is in Flowers Bay which will cost about 15 bucks ahead for a cabby who will tour you to the West beach area for shopping or a few drinks then to eat while they wait for you an take you to enjoy. Meal consisted of two lobster tails, grilled tiger shrimp and a King Crab with it beautiful long legs and giant claws. Must

Good place to go
We were there with our 2 boy's their wives and 5 grand kids. It was awesome. The staff, food and accommodations were great. We had a slight problem with our air conditioner which was unable to be fixed and since the resort was full we had to stay in that room , but it wasn't the end of the world. The staff were great and really helpful in all ways . They even made a birthday cake for one of our grandkid's birthday. It's a diving resort with awesome snorkeling. Food was great .Monkeys on site and fun' and mischeifious. We would go back again

Great place for animal lovers or light sleepers
Fantasy Island is a basic hotel, old but functional. Great place for animal lovers. The grounds are home to peacocks, ducks, iguanas, "rabbits", parrots and capuchins. It's a very quiet secluded location, good for sleeping, but not much else to do in the area but be on the hotel grounds. Good $15 shore dive just meters from the gazebo. Dive shop was nice with big boats. The food was acceptable, breakfast was consistently terrible (think two star in Cuba) but lunch and dinner were good. The house wine was not even drinkable so beware-bring your own wine from the town! We found it hard to get small bills to tip people. Wish the front desk (or anyone) would have been able to break twenties so that we could have tipped the friendly staff a little more.

Fantasy Island was great-again!
This cozy, unique resort is a perfect place to relax and unwind. The friendly staff are quick to help out with any request or concern and always with a smile. The food is delicious-even though it was a small selection there was always enough choice and never walked away hungry. The room was spacious-one of the largest that we've ever had. Loved the wildlife that is always present and the views from every corner of the resort was breath taking. The scuba diving was amazing and Ria and her staff were great! Loved our boat captain Kevin and DM Miguel. This was our 2nd visit to Fantasy Island-our 1st as scuba divers. And after another great week, I suspect we will back in the not too distant future!

Best dive experience
Small, with a great beach and reef! Ideal for the experienced diver or for the begginer. Wonderful dive staff with experience and certification on site. Not frilly or full of extravagance just agreat place to kick back and enjoy! Most of the people I talked to there had the same thought " like going to the cottage, just lots more to see and do!"
