Nathan’s Thailand Adventure Part 2

Nathan’s Thailand Adventure Part 2

Travel Agent Nathan Donaldson is back to discuss his Thailand adventure! Check out Part 1 of Nathan’s story.

Going on a Contiki Tour was an experience in itself. We opted for a tour that overlapped with the full moon party in Thailand, which meant that it was nothing but a party. The hotels we stayed at were beautiful, but many of them were away from the city so you couldn’t do anything but stay on the resort. Contiki is great for people are who are more shy and reserved.

Next time, I would do everything on my own. I travelled alone for a bit. If you want to meet new people, hang out in the common areas of hostels. Koh Samui is a party island with endless bars and really cheap massages ($3 an hour!). This island is also known for its scuba diving. We stayed at Charm Churee Villa which is a beautiful bungalow-style resort built on the hills, rocks, and stilts. It was an amazing resort.

Koh Phangan is the home of the full moon party which had 30,000 dancing people. Everyone was having the best time of their lives.

After our Contiki Tour, I went to the beautiful island of Koh Phi Phi. It’s the most beautiful place I have ever seen. I went there thinking I would stay for 2 nights but ended up staying 9 nights. I would have stayed longer, but I had to go home. We did an amazing tour which took us to the location of the movie featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, The Beach. It was beautiful! We also visited little islands and beaches. There was one beach called Monkey Beach, where we found plenty of wild monkeys. It was neat to be able to feed them and interact closely with them. We stayed at the Outrigger Phi Phi, which cost $110 a night. It seems like a fortune in comparison to the other amounts I was spending but I have to say it was worth every penny. It was the most luxurious and beautiful resort I have ever seen.

Each room was its own bungalow. It’s a beautiful ocean front property with an infinity pool overlooking the bay. The food was incredible and they had the most wonderful fresh flowers in our room and on our bed every single day. It was incredible.

All in all it was amazing. I would not hesitate to send anyone to Thailand. There is something here for everyone. If they can get over the flight times, this would be the most incredible family vacation. You can do Thailand in style (5-star all the way), or you can be in your early 20’s with a hostel budget looking to experience something completely different.
