I was expecting to have a high end experience given the elevated price for the property. The pool areas, including the washroom facilities were tired and not in good repair. At this price point I will pass on this resort and brand in future. Service was great however, no complaints there.

This hotel has everything you would want, even a water park for your children. The food is very good with lots of choices at the buffet and a- la- cart restaurants. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help. The rooms are fresh and clear with nice washrooms. Three pools and a very warm ocean. Please do visit with your family.

The single one thing that truly stand out since we started coming to this resort is it's staff. They are all super cheery, friendly and helpful. Every time we visited, it feels like coming to visit friends. The food here to me, is better than other resorts around the same price point. We love the buffet and we had our meals at the buffet 90% of the time. what can I say, this is our 4th visit this year, and we're already booked twice in September. Oh, and one draw that keeps me going back to this resort, the nightly performance of Jon Apont in the lobby. He is such a talented singer/pianist! I never miss his performance while I'm there!

This resort was what I expected from a 3 star resort. Nothing to fancy but all good. We had a great time. One thing that I would recommend is having my staff that can speak English. Entertainment could have been better.

I have been here before when it was more vibrant, Although the staff are great and the food is on par with the ratings, I honestly will no longer return. Bucerias has beautiful beaches but the local authenticity of humble kindness is no longer, it has been pushed out by xpats, apartment buildings and big corporations. You can see the struggle of the locals and it saddens my heart. If I do come back to bucerias it will be to stay at a local small hotel or homestay. The Decameron is bland looking, lost its sparkle and shine. But I do stress the employees are as beautiful as ever. Special shout out to Jenny and Marisol in the restaurant by building 4. I would also like to add that this place right now is under loud construction of the roofs so if you want a good sleep I suggest building 6 or somewhere else. Thats it for now, I have been to Bucerias many times, this is my last time staying here.

We have stayed at the Decameron for many years. The upgrades they have made are greatly appreciated. The new lounge chairs were comfortable around the pool. The specialty restaurants did not disappoint. There was a huge group of seniors which completely booked the middle buffet and we were not allowed to sit and eat in there. The morning coffee was not available from the machine until 7 am. It was nice to see regular staff there. We were disappointed that they put us on the fourth floor because I was unable to do the stairs due to upcoming surgery but they moved us the following day. I would highly recommend that the salad buffet be enclosed with plastic doors to prevent the birds from flying in and taking items. Based on our price package we would return again. Our trip agent was very helpful.

Our first visit to Mexico umpteen years ago was to a Secrets albeit a brand new one. Since then we've been to Mexico many times and several other continents so perhaps its we who have changed. Grounds are great and rooms very comfortable but that isn't enough for this level. With so many special events the resort is very noisy at night. Food was average across the board with only Oceana and the Mexican Restaurant rising above that. There was a lengthy list of small things such a a finicky toilette, tricky desk chair and inconsistent refresh of food items that illustrated a lack of attention to detail. Of course Mexican staff were amazing as they are everywhere. Also the location made it easy to access old town and the romantic zone. I don't think anyone would have a bad time here but it just wasn't that step up that we expected for a Secrets.

Ri-U?- Not for me I start with saying I am a 40 something female solo traveler that has stayed at many resorts, so that may alter the review. I had never stayed at a Riu before, and probably wouldn't again. However this was a recently renovated resort- no complaints about most of the cleanliness (often no toilet paper and sticky walk along pools), but for the most part they were doing their best to keep up. It was very busy and loud, but the staff seemed to do their best to follow the crowd- although I didn't notice any poolside service- basically a serve yourself system, but no shortage of bars to be able to do that. Cons: -the food is mediocre at very best. I looked forward to going home for fresh food-which I have never yearned for in Mexico before. Every meal every day is a very limited buffet and the same thing ad nauseum. Very dry and overcooked meats swimming in seed oil (I prefer animal based diet so this was disappointing, but not surprising) and cold. The life is sucked out of it so there's not an ounce of moisture to even keep it warm in a ceramic dish under a lamp. -there are 5 restaurants and they rotate which ones are open - you CANNOT reserve. You must line up at 6pm and luck of the draw If they are full by the time you get your shot or you've wasted your hours. After 3 nights of standing in line BEFORE 6pm, I got a buzzer and was seated at 730pm one night, and 830pm the next time. Not worth it in my opinion, other than the cut of fat I was served was warmish-definetly not hot. (I only tried the Steakhouse as the others were either closed or the menu was not anything I would be interested in) -not much for activities unless you are a child. Quite boring if you are into being entertained or taking classes. (The Fit instructor for stretching and such is great, I recommend doing those programs when offered) -coffee machines are often down so if this is important to you (it was to me!) You'll be walking some loops to get some or find a cup -there are 4 rectangular pools separated by lounge chairs, nothing exciting- none of them over 4ft and the water is super warm and unrefreshing. (I am 6ft tall so water just above my thighs is just annoying) -smooth tiles everywhere- ridiculously slippery! Seen many falls, super hazardous -the smell of their 'natural zen' chosen air freshners and soaps will overwhelmingly waft you in the face every time you open a bathroom door- to me it's disgusting, but that's a matter of preference to natural or unscented cleaners (also, if your coochie is sensitive, the toilet paper is bathed in it) -speaking of toilets, whoever designed a square bowl gets a D- (it's very ?y) -Big Brother is watching everywhere ?  PROS: -if you have mobility issues, it would be convenient location because it's all one place, nothing to explore to find scenes or ramps (good non slip shoes are a must) -as mentioned above, the Fit classes are decent (Arranza is a gem) -it is newly renovated so still clean and in good shape -you will never have trouble finding a lounge chair, there has to be over 1000. That's the view. Chairs. Everywhere. -the sand is hot, the ocean is warm (this time of year), and conveniently located right outside the resort -you can walk to Bucerias in under half an hour by following the path, it's quite pretty when you get to the end of the strip and into the garden EXTRA INFO: I don't drink and I don't do the night life, so not sure about alcohol or White party- it was very loud a few nights with young people drunk and screaming, but the shows themselves are pretty quiet- you have to sit under the stage or you can't barely hear at the back. (I'm ok with that!). Same shows must rotate the whole strip because I haven't been to this side since 2024, and the Grand Palladium in Punta Mita had the same ones. If you enjoy lush scenery and greenery, great food, animals (who doesn't like a lizard to join you once in a while!) or hidden trails to enjoy some private zen and nature - this is not the resort for you. If you are new to traveling, have kids, mobility issues, just wanna have a "good time"- Riu Jalisco might be your fit! All in all, it was 'ok'. One of the cheaper getaways so I can see the appeal, But I wouldn't be in a rush to come back any time soon. HEADS UP:  Pink tarp massages outside the resort are a little bit cheaper than the resorts ($500 pesos and Riu is $630) It is an ok massage, I went twice and would have booked a third, except- I can't prove it of course, but I am 99% sure my change purse was stolen there because I literally went from my room to the massage, and then it was gone. I unfortunately had quite a bit of money and my room key in it because the plan was to pay for 2 massages and grab a couple souvenirs before my last day. The front desk manager said that was not uncommon occurrence. -Taxi prices are exuberant!! Get someone to call you an In-drive or download APP and get picked up outside the gate. Literally ¼ of the price.

Just got back from a 2 week couples vacation The resort is so beautiful and clean loved everything ,especially the staff a few people that really stood out and went over and above for customer service was Vencinca at the buffet restaurant Luz at the beach towel exchange , Coral on the entertainment team and the bartenders at the la Cantina bar best bar and drinks there are only 2 things I would change that this resort first is bring reservation system back people don’t like standing inline for an hour plus for dinner on their vacation and second one is having poolside waiters for getting drinks this is the first resort I’ve been too that doesn’t have it overall we had an excellent time the food here especially at the steakhouse and buffet is amazing

So we stayed at the Riu Palace Pacifica 7 years ago and wanted to compare after the renos and changing to an adults only. The staff at this resort was exceptional, everyone seemed to be enjoying their jobs which makes for a wonderful atmosphere. The rooms were very nice, bathroom with large walk-in shower. AC was quite quiet and worked well. Nice balcony and we found the bed comfortable. Food was excellent at all restaurants, buffet and pool area. Drinks were very good..we tried many. Pools and grounds were well kept. Something to note was this resort was truly accessible, we watched many people with limited mobility enjoying the pool, restaurants and grounds, good on you RIU for considering this. Only small negative would be the large pillars blocking the stage for night shows from the sides, you need to come early and sit directly in front of stage to see. Very swimmable and walkable beach. 20 min walk to Buceries. All in all would definitely recommend and return.

Fantastic vacation, great room, food, pools, staff and ocean was so warm I practically lived there. Highly recommend for couples, and kids (separate climbing structure and pool, buffet had lots of choices for them)

Loved everything about this place. The food was incredible, the staff were friendly and hard working, and we were happy with our room (we upgraded to an ocean view). Several pools to choose from, and we enjoyed the numerous activities for adults and kids. Loved the policy of "anything on the lounge chairs before 9 am will be removed", which prevented people from reserving chairs. There was never a shortage of chairs, and lots of locations to choose from. The coffee bar was a nice bonus, and there were several places along the edge of the property that you could sit quietly in the shade and enjoy it. The entertainment was great, all through the day and night ... and I don't say that very often !! It was easy-listening, and not outrageously loud by the pool. The peaceful live evening entertainment was moved to the lobby bar, or rooftop bar, ...or to the basement if it was going to be loud, and possibly an irritant to the guests. Perfect!

My trip and vacation was great. The weather was hot.l would recommend that inclusive should be clarified who is responsible for shuttle transportation from Puerto Vallarta airport to the hotel and return from hotel to the airport. It was not clear if Airtransat was the shuttle provider since at the arrival No-one was available but likely there were plenty of taxis at the airport. This item should be clarified and organized better.

We were treated well by the staff and some were over the top in caring about service and happy guests. Having wonderful weather provides a great background for an ideal get away however where you stay matters too. The rooms were nice and beds comfortable. All was provided as presented. Amenities good. Getting bottled water was easy once you knew where to ask - only cups of water at pool bar but lobby bar and coffee shot had bottled water as well. As others have mentioned the Lobby needs some decorating such as tables and chairs to lounge in the evening - we were a group of 13. We did find various chairs including some behind a desk to move out together and more were brought when we asked. No one seemed to mind when we had a little lobby party!

2nd stay at this hotel and we have nothing bad to say about it. Good value for your money, ocean front property, lots of food options. Rooms are clean, we had a king size bed, mini fridge in room but not stocked. Large bottle of drinking water left in room daily. Property is kept up, staff are very friendly. Walk or taxi into town for restaurants and markets.

The hotel was like a palace. Beautiful, clean, spacious. The grounds were beautiful and the view stunning. The food was amazing, however having to be gluten free I feel things could have been labelled better in the buffet. The staff and service was above and beyond.

The Hacienda at Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta offers a peaceful, adults-only atmosphere that stands in pleasant contrast to the livelier main resort. The Hacienda side has "jungle-like" landscaping and a quiet, relaxing vibe. The Food: Dinner quality was mixed but overall good for this price point. The breakfast and lunch buffets on the Hacienda side were very good. Dinner Reservations: Some guests noted that you may need to wait in line as early as 8:00am to secure a dinner reservation at a la carte restaurant. We used the QR code system to book each morning for that evening without issues or lines (takes under 5 mins. to book). Standout Service: The staff are this resort's greatest asset. Location: The resort is about a 15 minute drive from the airport. It is conveniently located near the Cruise Ship Terminal and a Walmart for essentials. Within walking distance to two shopping malls. Downtown Puerto Vallarta is a quick 10-15 minute taxi or bus ride away. We enjoyed our time here and look forward to returning

We had a great time at the Krystal Grand. The week went by way too fast. Everything was excellent from the time we arrived till the time we left. Room, swim up, beach, pools were all great. We would definitely go back.

The resort staff where excellent, food was great, all pools were clean and lifeguards very attentive, rooms were clean and lots of hot water for showering. The beach was free of garbage and you could walk into the water on fine smooth sand. We walked to the two other Decameron resorts nearby and refreshed our thirst while there. There where lots of shops nearby and we could buy anything we needed. Always a nice breeze to keep us comfortable. The best resort we have stayed at in many trips to Mexico.

Hotel was great, upgraded to have access to secrets side for the pools and extra restaurant access. Service at the pools were great, be prepared to wake up early to get prime chairs! Otherwise great for the most part. Rooms are a little boring we had a penthouse and i expected more out of it, also had to requests rooms to be stocked they didnt do that daily which was frustrating.

We had a wonderful vacation at Secrets. The food was probably the best I have ever experienced in an all inclusive resort. The service was definitely second to none. I would highly recommend paying this resort a visit. :)

This is an exceptional resort snuggled and hidden in the mountains and hills in Riviera Nayarit. About 2 km in length rather than the usual square or boxed in resorts with the tall buildings. At this resort you can take in the tropical greenery, the birds and the wildlife. Getting around is easy.....either get your excercise by walking 1 or 2 km per day or hop onto the 2 dozen electric go-carts that will wisk you away to the different pools, hot tubs, water park or restaurant. (You still have the option to go to Delta's beach property and jump into the ocean). The food is great, the waiters go out of their way to make you feel like at home. For my wife and I (already in our mid 80's....this was a real treat that we will never forget!! If we hold out any longer, we will return!! Joyce and Victor - Winnipeg, Canada

My description of this resort is that it is quite tired. It could definitely use some updating. When we arrived in our room it appeared clean and older but ok. Then we realized that we had no a/c which we reported right away. They sent someone but it never did get fixed…no a/c in 29/30C heat! The wood on the bathroom door was peeling…a new one is definitely needed. Our entrance door, also should be replaced. There were cracks in the panels so you could see through! Our sink blocked (the first time we used it, so not from anything that we did) so we reported it and they did fix it. Then the toilet was slow flushing so we reported it. When it was fixed it was too fast and almost shot a geyser when flushed but then there was a very toxic smelling odour coming from the bathroom…we asked for a new room. They accommodated us quickly with a new room which was slightly better. The food was ok but good luck getting into the à la carte restaurants. We would go online at 9 am (the time you’re allowed to book) to book for that night and they were usually all booked already! How does that happen?? And the two that we did manage to get into…the food was NOT great! The pools were very warm so nowhere to cool down and the rooftop pool was never running…no jets moving the water! The staff was lovely and very helpful. Our view was beautiful…an ocean view is a must!

Older hotel but kept clean. Wait and cleaning staff were great. Concierge was not helpful! I was disappointed with the food. À la cart restaurants were difficult to access! A poor system of signing up was utilized!

The hotel grounds were well kept and clean. Roof top pool was really great. Hotel rooms were outdated and could use renovation, especially the washroom. It was worth upgrading room for an ocean view from the balcony. Biggest complaint was the food. Breakfast buffet was okay with fresh omelets or fried eggs. Lunch and dinner buffets were sub standard…meat selections were usually overcooked as were vegetables. Access to à la carte restaurants was impossible. In 7 days we were only able to book 2 dinners and in both cases, the main course was almost inedible…fish was over cooked and tough.

Hotel was great plus we were able to use the other two Decameron resort sites. Food was good every day, lots of pools to pick from plus they had an adult pool. The entertainment was good and we found plenty to do since the resort was right in town. little confusing at first but once you get the lay of the land it all came together. clean and friendly staff. beach is busy but that’s half the fun. we would go again, fun times.

Pros: Price point for an almost all inclusive. Friendly staff always ready to help with any issues. Location to the marina and shops/restaurants accessibility. Cons: No WiFi in the room, lobby only. No mini fridge in the room. No hot water in the room until later in the day.

Just spent 2 weeks here. Lots of kids but we had a great time on the beautiful adult Hacienda side. Both pools were awesome. Quiet and plenty of drinks. The smaller buffet was so much better. We did spend a few days at the rooftop pool which was fine till we discovered the Hacienda pools. The Italian a La cart restaurant was excellent. They could use a few more a La carts. French was ok. Don’t know about the sea food as we don’t eat it. Constr'n never bothered us.

Had a wonderful stay at the Riu Jalisco. Would go back any time. Staff was great, the beach was clean, the room was always cleaned, overall service was very good. Preferred the Japanese restaurant of all.

Beautiful, very clean, exemplary service It's very isolated, you cannot walk to a Mexican neighbourhood. Taxi is a short ride for 150 pesos to go into Puerto Vallarta Good variety of food at buffet always fresh salads ad fruit. No problem booking on the all a carte restaurants. Our favourite was the Asian restaurant

The food was excellent and the beach was fantastic! You could walk for miles both sides of the resort. We did ask for a quiet room and then last minute for a partial ocean view. We were apparently upgraded to that but wouldn't call it an upgrade. We couldn't get to the full deck on the first floor and the view was more of a construction site and couldn't see much of the ocean. We still would return to the resort though as it was very clean, friendly staff and didn't spend much time in the room.

The food, pool and beach was perfect for our family of 4. Jorge the actives leader was so much fun. The fish taco restaurant was amazing and all the staff were incredible. Special thanks to Axel, Jesus, Ramone, and so many more! We will be back next year.

The massive conical cane-made lobby and dining rooms impress, as does the service. Surrounded and towered over by tall palm trees (and two actually in the centre of one of the pools), Las Palmas is a people- oriented hotel in many ways. This resort is a jewel that outshines the surrounding, towering resorts.

Everything about the resort was above and beyond what we hoped for. It was clean and staff were very helpful and friendly. Food was also great! We would recommend this place and look forward to returning.

I will start my review with the positives charming older hotel, clean, very nice friendly staff.We had booked a superior room because it had a balcony we had a great ocean view. The location is great we love staying in old town as it is within walking distance of restaurants, bars, shops. What we didn’t know was that our room was an adjoining room. There were guests in the adjoining room and u could hear everything from coughing to sneezing to conversation. Another negative is there is no fridge or ice available at the hotel so we had to buy a cooler, ice and water.We stayed for 2 weeks so the cost did add up. The beach is very nice they have palapas and umbrellas but old wooden chairs that lounge back are rickety and not maintained. They should probably be thrown into a bonfire.It also is a public beach so u may have a great ocean until about noon people come and set up. The pools are heated it is a small area really cramped. This hotel could be so much better with some improvements .

My daughter and I certainly had a wonderful time. The grounds were lovely The bedroom was comfortable and spacious. The food at the daily buffet was all anyone could ask for. A great array of food. We also tried the steak and lobster at the steak restaurant. The Mexican restaurant was very good. We loved the Crystal restaurant as well. The last night we went to the Asian restaurant for a nice meal. The entertainment at night was a little lacking but we heard the light show was terrific at the Jalisco Everyday we enjoyed walking on the beach and drinks and swimming in the pool. We even walked to the Riu Vallarta the sister hotel and enjoyed lunch there. It was a very warm and relaxing holiday. Thank you to Kevin from Trip Central for helping us book our flights and holiday

The hotel was lovely. Just the right size you were no more than 5 minutes from anywhere in the hotel. The food was really good and we ate at the à la carte restaurant twice, which also was delicious. The rooms were clean, a little dated. I know this is petty but the lampshade in our room was cracked and rusted. Perhaps they should replace the shade. All rooms had a pool view and our side had large trees on the entrance side

This was an incredible vacation with my adult children and their spouses. My room was perfect, large, comfortable bed and I could hear the sound of the waves hitting the beach when I was in bed at night. There were five different restaurants all serving great meals and the buffet where we ate breakfast and lunch had a variety of delicious foods. Plenty of pool areas and a clean beautiful beach. The evenings entertainment was good and all the staff were friendly and helpful.

My wife and I are in our 60's and have been to the other Decameron resorts in Guayabitos. We both felt this one was the best of the 3. I have read other resort reviews and some people just can't be happy. We are very happy with this one. Will summarize our 2 week trip in point form: Local Area -Excellent beach with hard packed sand and wide flat expanse at low tide. -Beach well used by both tourists & locals. Children were always playing & digging in the sand. At times (weekends) beach was busy but did not feel crowded. -Blue bottle jellyfish were present this trip, never seen before – purple flag flying. 1st week water calm, 2nd week water rough red flags for 3 days - Many beach sellers present, but they were not intrusive. - In town, many shops with souvenirs and plenty of smaller mercados for groceries. No large grocery or department stores. There are more stores and some are slightly larger in La Peneda central district. - Have notice prices have increased on many items, Market items seemed too expensive HOTEL Pros: -Price extremely good for this trip! Nice feature to stay at one & play at three hotels. -Room had large soft pillows 3 per bed - Plug by night table – easy for a powerbar for CPAP & chargers - Elevators worked well, except one was down for 3 days. Fixed just before a busy holiday weekend. - Restaurant/ Buffet had plenty of food, Bars had good stock of decent products. lineups reasonable - Beach & pool chairs are comfortable. -English was spoken or understood by much of the staff. Improved - No towel cards Improved - Electronic door locks Improved – Heated pools They used to be soooo cold! - Recognized many workers working there from previous years. Good retention Cons: -Pretty hard bed – lots of tossing & turning. -No dresser in rooms for clothes, asked for extra suitcase rack. Nothing to hang stuff in room or bath. -Air con worked very well, but always seemed to direct onto a bed -Good hot water but fluctuating water pressure (on 6th floor anyway) -Had to ask for washcloths -TV only 3 English channels all of them news -Noises & music from pool area echoed up through up the whole hotel –but it did quieten down when the pool closed and after the bar activities around 10pm -No quiet area with normal height tables available at night to play games. -Restaurant/ Buffet lacked syrup for pancakes or French toast, Bananas infrequent but brought some when asked. No oatmeal (even though it was in drink form) -A la carte’s were troublesome to book and unable to cancel or change booking Would have like to see the A la carte’s more often also. 4 a la carte’s each open only 1 or 2 nights each

Our stay at Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta was absolutely incredible from start to finish. The grounds are beautifully maintained, and every public area was clean and welcoming. The rooms were fantastic—comfortable, modern, and a perfect place to relax after a day in the sun. Dining had a great variety and The Grill a la carte restaurant was delicious! One of my favorite spots was the rooftop Sky Bar—amazing views of the sunset, a great atmosphere, and the perfect place to unwind. The adult-only infinity pool overlooking the ocean was truly breathtaking and quickly became my go-to spot. And of course, the beach… absolutely stunning. You can walk for miles along the shoreline, which made it even more special. I would highly recommend this resort and would happily return!

Extremely enjoyed ourselves, the accommodations were dated which added to the authenticity of the area, but very clean and comfortable. Everything in our room worked including a free safe and fridge and the a/c worked perfectly. The area was fantastic for walking and commuting around, being right in town and all that goes with that and the access to the other 2 Decameron hotels really added an extra dimention to the experience. The food In the buffet was really good and Fernando took great care of us, (excellenti) (also, loved the tequila ha ha!) we had lots of fun with him. The singing egg lady was always nice to see every morning. Pedro, in the alcarts was a fantasticaly friendly guy who had a great sense of humor and wonderful service skills, and we enjoyed the meals at both restaurants. Our chamber maid who kept our room spotless and maintained throughout our stay, ensured we always had everything we needed. The beach was beautiful (you could walk for almost an hour to the river which was wonderful. Even the beach vendors were courteous and didn't hound you. The ocean was calm and shallow to wade into and quite warm. All 4 swimming pools were glistening clean and great to cool off in. Bartenders were all nice to deal with, very friendly and extremely efficient and the beer was ice cold, perfect. Checkin was easy, checkout not so easy, at 6:15 am our arranged departure time, we found the front desk closed. Not sure if our ride to the airport was coming and no one to checkout with. We did get to the airport and all was good. All in all we would return to this resort as we had a wonderful time.

The Reno’s are great lots of room everywhere you can always find a spot to hang out around the pools or the beach shade is an issue on the beach till the trees palm out but for $20 u can get an umbrella for the day The food is fantastic at the buffet as well as the steak house and the Italian service was great everywhere and the app is great if you need coffee beer or soda for your room they are on it right away And thank you tripcentral for the calls before and after our vacation to Make sure everything went well very much appreciated

The hotel was beautiful and very well maintained. The washrooms and facilities are always clean, staff checks on you to ensure everything you need in the room has been taken care of. In terms of the resort, there is always staff by the lobby ensuring the hotel is safe. There is programs for guest to do throughout the day and good entertainment at night. However, I have noticed a lot of people slipping because the floorings by the resort and pool area is slippery. This is supported by multiple wet floor signs that has been standing in every corner of the resort, also multiple staff tries to dry the flooring by the pool area. Given this is a family resort, there are a lot of kids and elderly that goes here, my child slipped three times in the kids pool area. I hope something gets done with the slippery tiles as this is a safety concern (I am aware it’s newly renovated but the floors were poorly designed in the pool area) It was our first time and we were given a room on the first floor however, it was at the very end of the hall where staff goes so the noises were really bad during late and early hours as we hear things being dragged or staff talking to each other. This area of the hotel should never be given to customers because it is loudly uncomfortable. The food is great in the buffet area (chipotle), the steakhouse was great, so is agave. The ice cream parlor has a lot of good flavors. Sadly, Sakura (Asian buffet) has not met my expectations, from the yakisoba to paneer masala. The pecking duck looks and taste like a regular chicken barbecue. Overall, I still like this hotel very much, I had a good time with my family & friends. We hope to come back again. Maybe request to be on another floor for a quieter stay and hopefully the hotel reconsider the slippery floors.

Our main complaint was the food in the two buffets. There was plenty of sides but the mains were horrible. They were either in a stew or soup style. So really you couldn’t tell what meat it was. I hardly ate anything. There was a lot of people complaining. Also considering it is a Sea side resort there was hardly any Sea food. The only shrimp we saw was again in some sort of sauce. Another complaint was that our room didn’t have a balcony. There was no mention of that in the on line add. There wasn’t enough umbrellas or beds around the pool. On the good side, the resort was very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel building and grounds are beautiful. The rooms are spacious, but not well-maintained. We had one of the best rooms available, but it had a long list of things that did not work. Staff fixed most items, but why would management leave it to guests to do the inspections? The Italian and Spanish restaurants are very good. Los Arcos is poor, and the main buffet is quite good. Our major complaints were the endless loud music (11 am to 6 pm every day), which follows you everywhere, even into your room, and the very uncomfortable pool loungers. If you like a quiet and comfortable holiday, avoid this resort.

The ground were ok, the pools were very nice but the laminate flooring around the pool area was VERY unsafe. MANY people had bad slips and falls when it was wet and wet feet. Our room was ok, but the safe didn’t work, until it was fixed, the tv remote didn’t work, until we got another one and no hair blow dryer until we asked for one. The in room coffee maker put the coffee everywhere except IN the coffee pot, we had to get that replaced also. The wifi is VERY hit and miss everywhere on the resort. The online booking for the ala carte restaurants was useless. 2 of the 3 restaurants were closed for half of our 2 week stay. The buffet was your usual, some days ok, other days not so much.

We have been returning to this hotel yearly for years. We love it. Definitely needs some work on the rooms...exterior renos seem to be in progress. We will continue to come here each year. Grounds are great. Pools great. Food was better from a 4 to 6 or 7.

The hotel is a very short drive from the airport in a busy commercial area. It is dated and in need of repair. It is said that there are six restaurants to choose from but in reality there is one buffet with poor quality American style food that runs out shortly after opening, an Italian restaurant with food that churned my stomach that was only open on occasion and a Mexican restaurant that was not open once in our week long stay. There is a food truck that serves the entire resort during lunch time and again caters to those who prefer American hot dogs and burgers. There is one pool that is crowded by 8am where there are loud classes (aquafit, zumba, games) hosted throughout the day so consider if this is your scene. Bring noise cancelling headphones if you prefer to read quietly. Our first room had broken A/C and faced the loud evening entertainment and we were upgraded without issue to a larger decent room. Unfortunately we found a cockroach crawling on our bed one night which made it hard to enjoy for the remainder of the stay. The staff were great except when it came to the cockroach situation. We asked for a later checkout which was given to us by one staff member but clearly not communicated to anyone else as when we returned to our room we were locked out and the staff were quite rude about it. The one positive is that the view was gorgeous but overall we would not recommend this resort.

This was a great stay for the whole family. Such a family-oriented place, with mostly parents and kids, as well as retirees/grandparents. Staff, food, rooms, and, most importantly, the beach, we’re all great!

Hotel grounds and buildings are well kept. Good overall value. Decent quality and variety of food. Loved not having to worry about finding decent chairs. Lots of beach chairs and pool chairs with shade. Great beach and great terrace bar overlooking beach. Decent entertainment.

Decameron isle coral one of 3 sister hotels in Guayabitos 2 hrs north of puerto Vallarta. Our original booking Feb 23 cancelled because of gun fight at ok coral rebooked feb24 via Calgary. Our hearts ? go out to the families who lost loved ones in this tragic drug battle. We played Pickleball 9 of 12 days We packed ourselves breakfast from the evening buffet. At 0500 I would set up , wake up the lobby coffee machine , run it through a disinfect cycle and make 4 cups of coffee. 25-30 minutes every morning 3 times having to find water bottle from a near bar in hotel. This is an expensive way to make coffee, very convenient for people waiting for rooms but costly for checked in guests, when kitchen staff could put coffee out like we had at Decameron cocos at 0500. 0600 off to courts 15 min walk down the street 45 min from Decameron cocos There was 50-75 players cycling through courts from 0630-1100 hrs. Google Guayabitos Pickleball club or check out pickle heads. com Very well run club with levels from beginner to 4.0 Learn to sign as there is a group of 10 playing. Back to hotel at noon, shower lunch Buffets were very good during the week, pork chops , chicken ,strip beef , two fish dishes and excellent fruit and vegetables, olives , soups , icecream , cheese. Beach is fantastic, beach volleyball, boogie boards and kayaking. Walked the beach end to end 4 km with beer stops at sister hotels on west end. There were commercial fishing boats out and for the next 3 days the beach was full of baby bitting jelly fish every 20 ft on the beach. Still many people in the ocean. On the weekends the place is crazy with nationals family vacationing. 16 buses parked by hotel area ,then Monday they all head home , it’s almost lonely. We got in to alacarts 3 times on the app and were pulled in 2 other times by staff. Minimal English spoken but tips and smiles are universal. They do want you to book in to buffets if you plan to go to sister hotels so they know the numbers. In bed by 2000 hrs. No evening noise. Entertainment at Decameron cocos Night club disco at Decameron marina Non potable water in hotel Bring coffee cup and sippy cup. We used 2 bottles of water in 13 days Refill our water thermos at bar or restaurant. We used 2 beach towels in 13 days to nap on or sit on. I know it’s a job for someone to wash towels and sweep the sand all day , an expense paid for by customers. SAVE ON WATER and get a water trough by beach steps , hotel management. Nexus transfers were great both ways. We were early getting picked up and had plenty of time to get to airport. Pack little Wababa ball from Sport check , kids love to see and play in pool skipping a ball on the water. Pack a little bouncie ball to play on beach. So much fun to play with kids and let their parents sit and relax on their vacation. Frisbee to play on beach Biked to La Penita to use bank machines and market on Thursday. Market i Guayabitos on Monday. Definitely head back next late February.

This resort is excellent- we have gone many times - with the 2 of us- and with groups of people. The service and staff are excellent ! The rooms are large- we had a fridge and a safe. The beds and pillows were super comfortable, the bathroom and shower are large. The food is good, with special mexican nights, seafood nights, Italian nights etc. They have 5 specialty restaurants, and the buffets are very good. The shows at night are good. The beach is amazing, and there are many pools in the resort, including a quiet pool. The location for this resort is really good. It is an hour to Puerto Vallarta so it is very easy to go there. We travelled with Air transat and they had a representative at the resort every morning if we had questions or wanted to book tours. The resort is in the town of Bucerias and a short walk to the shops on the street and the local market. There are many really good restaurants and bars right on the beach in the centre of town. If you like to bike, check out Bici Bucerias- we rented bikes there and they are excellent- they are a 3 minute walk from Decameron. I would highly recommend this resort.

We have been to this hotel about four times over the last years and we were very disappointed from the day we arrived. We were celebrating our 30th anniversary and wanted to go to a nice hotel. We paid for an ocean view all inclusive and requested king bed with higher floor. We looked at two rooms that were facing the restaurant roof. We did not want to be facing on top of a roof and was given a third room to view which was in the 5th floor only. The day manager said either we take the room or we take a double bed room which we did not want. So we accepted the room. The bathroom had black mold but they said they could clean it. They tried but the mold was still there. The beige couch in the room was brown with dirt you could not sit on it without a towel and the painting in the room was also covered with dark brown dirt spray. The pool had black dirt outlining the blue tiles- disgusting. You didn’t want to lean in the pool walls. We wanted to go to the Mexican restaurant one night as there was not many people in hotel and so we asked if they had space for us. One hostess said sure - then someone came and said my husband who was wearing dress shirt and linen dress pants with leather sandals could not come in as he needed to wear dress shoes or runners. They said my leather sandals were fine. We were not permitted to enter and dine! It felt that the hotel and service had really declined from other years.

This place was amazing. The rooms were nice and clean. Only thing that was kind of disappointing was not all rooms have a balcony or terrace. Although it turned out to not be a big issue. Pools and bars were really good. The beach was great to walk every day, with clean white sand that goes on for miles. The staff was wonderful, always smiling and very friendly. The buffet and alacarts were very good with lots of different foods to choose from. There was multiple dishes to choose from on the alacarts menu's. We enjoyed our stay and we will go back again.

Rooms are very poorly equiped. Towels are old, old and grey! Pillows are old and way past expiring- lumpy and too soft or too hard. couches? are dirty and worn out --ready for the garbage dump. We enjoyed the breakfasts which we had daily but we would not recommend eating from their buffet-everything is cold and made too far ahead. The sevice was friendly and excellent. We had a big issue with the maintenance of the pool area-it was started too late in the day so disrupted access to the pool when most visitors wanted to be at the pool.

We stayed here for a week, walked the boardwalk, ate at different restaurants. We to the market Thursday. Hotel needs to update their furniture in the rooms, especially the sofas. Bed was excellent. This is an older hotel but kept very clean.

Grounds were excellent, reception was blah,no map, no information at check-in. No fridge or coffee maker in room. That's an issue as bottled water was room temperature and you had to get dressed before a first coffee. Food was repetitive, and catered to majority of guests, who were Mexican. Loved the staff, a saving grace ! For the price, would not return.

Clean, good service. Only downside was I had to pay for zero beer. Other than that the food was great and room service was great. Front desk was super helpful. Enjoyed my stay at the this resort and would stay again.

The hotel is old for sure, hot water in shower is pretty much non existent. There are a lot of kids so if that's not your thing its not for you. The staff and food make the resort,Louise and jazmin at the pool bar are amazing. Overall the staff get a 10 out of ten, the resort itself should be rated a 3 star.

This was our first trip to Mexico and we booked 3 weeks, paying a premium for a top hotel. The only good thing I can say is that the weather is incredible - blue skies and 29-31C every day. Room was bad, ended up paying another $750 CAD for an upgrade after a 4 day wait. (This must be a common practice because they have an actual "Upgrade Your Room" Desk for a fee.) Pools are overcrowded with people reserving chairs well before 7am even though they say this is not allowed. After the first week, the whole El Mencho Cartel thing happened but we felt safe. Then the hotel started closing all A La Cartes except 1 so your meal options were limited to the Buffet or the 1 restaurant that you cannot reserve in advance so good luck getting in. FYI - most of the A La Cartes are also buffets. In my opinion, the food options are terrible. You're not going to starve but the options rarely change so it's the same thing day after day after day - it gets old fast. The hotel moved us again to completely close the North Wing of the hotel because of cancellations, etc. so 3 rooms in 3 weeks. There was no pool/beach bar service and the drinks were just okay - bitter vodka, probably low-end quality for sure. There is a sign in the room that says they restock the minibar/coffee/waters every 2nd day but we had to call down at least 4 times because they were not replenished. We booked one excursion in the hotel with Sunwing (Rhythm of the Night) - we were not told we had 2 options (evening/night shows) so we were booked on the night show where the show was first and dinner was served at 10:30pm. We had to take a taxi to/from the marina ourselves (more $). The boat brought us back to the marina just after midnight where NO transportation was waiting to take any of us back to our hotels. One person managed to find a taxi, and luckily for us that driver called a bunch of his counterparts for the rest of us- otherwise, I'm not sure what we would have done. The nightly hotel entertainment was just bad and depending on where your room is, you can't get away from it. It repeats every week, so if you're there for 3 weeks, you're going to see the same things 3 different times. You can walk for miles on the beaches which is nice, but there are few shells, etc. to find (if that's your thing). Beach chairs are plentiful but side tables are not. Local bus service is available right outside the hotel, and takes you to Walmart where you can take a different local bus to the Malecon, etc. Or the bellhops can get you a cab from the hotel. I doubt this entire poor experience was a result of the cartel effect (which really lasted 2 days). This was our first vacation in 15 years and I was beyond disappointed. Overall, I felt ripped off, especially considering what we paid.

The Krystal Puerto Vallarta is a basic 2 or 3 star Resort. Was very outdated, over run by Raccoons at night that can be seen climbing on the closed buffet tables. The daily bland buffet that never changed got very tiring after the 3rd day. The so- called Adult Pool was never cleaned and had slimy tiles with sand on the bottom. The Beach bar (one was completely closed) the other would open randomly. Alcohol section was the lowest rail possible. The rooms were clean and okay once they figured out how to program my our room keys and get the safe working. Staff were not very helpful and at time a bit rude. No nightly entertainment and there was nothing to do to keep you entertained on the resort. Thankfully this resort was conveniently located on a strip where there were other restaurants and lounges and malls/ stores within walking distance to attend to keep us busy. Not worth the 5K we spent for a 7 day stay.

We cancelled our vacation at grand Decameron due to the civil unrest. This would have been our milestone birthdays holiday. We had planned this vacation for a couple of years only to have it cancelled due to the cartel uprising

From the moment we arrived, we were taken care of. When I needed a playpen, they were so quick and brought it to our room. Room service even made the sheets in the playpen when they cleaned. The staff are some of the friendliest people I’ve met, and felt like friends/family when we left. The food is incredible, never tried the restaurants but also didn’t feel like we missed out. Even when I went to grab a highchair, someone was quick to stop me and bring it to the table. This resort is incredibly clean, you notice staff cleaning all throughout the day. We cannot wait to go back!

The hotel has lovely rooms with stunning views, and fabulous common areas on the main floor and pool levels. The buffet dining rooms were well appointed with a good selection of food from Mexico and theme nights throughout the week. The coffee shop/ice cream bar was appreciated as well. The grounds of the hotel are very limited, with no real space to walk outdoors, as the hotel is built into the escarpment with very little space for gardens and walkways. The beach is beautiful but small and was too rough to use most of the week we were there. Definitely not suitable for small children. Luckily a children’s pool with slides and water play was situated in a courtyard on the second level. The two main pools are situated in such a way that they were in full shade until afternoon, which was disappointing for the sun seekers in our group. And on a logistics note, the location of this hotel is about an hour’s drive from the airport, taking a little longer with drop offs from the shuttle along the way. At the end of our week, we had the shuttle to ourselves and it took 45-50 minutes. In the descriptions we read before travelling the time from the airport was listed as 30 minutes or less.

We spent 2 weeks at Las Palmas by the Sea at the end of February. The resort is very well situated with an expansive beach frontage in comparison to other options in the hotel zone. I would recommend the oceanview upgrade as the building is so close to the ocean - offering a spectacular view. Resort staff are the best! Guadalupe and Edgar are wonderful in the morning and around the adult and beach area. Pedro and Daniel make the restaurant extra special and David runs a great evening bar. Thomas and Martin help with concierge and ensure you are comfortable traveling around the city. All staff are friendly everywhere on resort. These are the ones we remember the most. Being perfectly honest, the rooms are underwhelming at best. This is not a new resort, the beds are new and everything is very clean. The buffet is small compared to others we have experienced but there is always something good to eat. It’s clear the owners treat their staff well. They enjoy their jobs and engage so well with each other and their guests. We were on resort during the security incident in Puerto Vallarta. The team rallied and secured us and made us feel very safe. They should all be commended for their professionalism and dedication (most worked double shifts and many slept on resort). Las Palmas is a casual, fun, and quaint option if you’d like to stay in PV and venture out to enjoy all the city has to offer. We felt safe continuing around the city within 2 days of the incident. All locals want you to feel safe and welcome.

Clean pools. Good food. Friendly staff except front desk. When the cartel violence occurred we were ordered by front desk to pay an extra $2000 or leave the hotel. Very scary. Still waiting to get our money back

Look carefully at the layout of this place. It is not on the beach. There is another resort behind it that overlooks the beach. You have to walk thru the lobby and around another building to reach the area where you can access the beach. The staff are friendly and helpful and a few are funny and entertaining. The grounds are immaculate. The rooms are clean. The food is good. However we experienced a nasty sewage smell in the area off and on thru out our 10 day stay. We had a great time here but I would try a different place next time.

This resort is a lovely place. It is not an overly large resort, which is what we had hoped for. It is beachfront on a bay at Mismaloya. It is a 25 minute drive south of Centro PV. Fifty minutes from PVR airport. There are 3 or 4 pools including a children's pool with a built-in slide. Some staff do recreational programs in the pool area. Leading aqua fit and some games. Table tennis and large chess set by the pool. We had a deluxe suite 700 sq.feet. It was very spacious with king-size bed, large walk-in shower, small sitting room plus bedroom with couch, dresser, dining table and two chairs. There is a large balcony with view of pools and ocean. There are only a few other resorts around it but there are no other facilities outside the resort. A large buffet dining room overlooks the beach and ocean, plus 3 theme restaurants ( all included in the price). We found all the staff friendly and attentive. The weather was perfect 28 degrees C average. We enjoyed our stay at Barcelo PV very much.

We had an adventurous stay at crown paradise golden when the cartel decided to bomb the city. We never felt afraid for our safety. The staff were incredible! They rallied together and worked very hard to keep the guests comfortable. The resort is clean, the main pool was fun with activities while the rooftop pool was quiet and relaxing. The beach is swimmable with waves and little undertow. Our only complaint is the process for dining. The restaurants required a reservation process which opened online at 9 am and most restaurants were “full” by 9:02. Or the cite crashed. If you tried to just show up without a reservation you were turned away although the restaurant was clearly available with many tables. If you are a foodie, the food is average. For this reason alone I would not return.

Grounds-Nice and kept well Public Areas-Also nice and kept well Rooms-Nice and kept well, was in a studio with kitchenette. Had problems twice with my older type safe getting it activated. Had a problem accessing my room multiple times, maintenance had to change door lock batteries and re code door multiple times. Dining-Good assortment of tasty food for breakfast, lunch and dinner (deserts need to be tastier, many had no taste to them which is constant problem in Mexico). Was disappointed to find that they did not have an assortment of specialty coffees. Regular coffee itself tasted very good. Features- Tennis area and multiple pools (3) over three areas was very good. Beach area-not very big, ocean washed sand up against the huts on the beach Bar Lounge area-not very large and very loud once full of people and music playing, they need more lounge areas Lobby - Completely open, no closed door for security purposes. This was not good during the government shelter in place at hotel requirement. There should be a gate or door that can go across the entrance to close off to intruders. We had to shelter in our rooms. Elevator service-only one elevator for entire resort Buffet restaurant-Very good service and food Surf and Turf restaurant-Very good service and food but very loud in-side Mexican restaurant-Very good service and food

This resort more than met our expectations. There was nothing we to complain about. The location to the Malecon is walkable, food excellent,staff friendly and efficient. We swam early every morning. Received good advice re tours. We had never been to PV and will return to this hotel next year. I have already recommended it to a friend.

Firstly the area and property of the resort and its surroundings is beautiful with mountains and jungle. The resort itself is very clean and about a 45-1hour drive from the airport. The staff is very pleasant and aim to please, David and Moses were stand outs. The reins are very large and more than you will ever need. Don’t waste your money on the upgraded prestige package it provides very little for the money. The resort is close to snorkelling and other boat tours so no need to head into PV. The resort buffet for breakfast was great, like most resorts the buffet was mediocre for lunch and dinner. The lunch shack with tacos and plate lunch was good and the À la Carter’s were good. This is a quieter resort with not much to do at night. The pools and wether we’re perfect. The beach was small and the bay has a ton of boats, not the nicest but it did the job. I would recommend this resort to others overall. I would rate this resort a 4 out of 5

People were wonderful, weather was impeccable. Not the nicest resort I’ve been to but the workers were amazing with the events that happened in Puerto Vallarta. Rooftop pool was my favourite place to be!

The rooms are great everything clean. The food and staff are amazing. Downside is the walk to the beach. Because that is what I go on vacation for. But if you like to stay at the pool, I would recommend this for you. The pool is heated you can go in early in the morning and in the evening.

I found the grounds to be beautifully landscaped and extremely well maintained. The property was always clean and tidy. The buffet room and 2 ala carte restaurants were always spotless and food presentation excellent. My room was cleaned thoroughly everyday. Every staff member I interacted with showed me 100% great service. Their concierge, Rafael Oviedo provided top notch service to me when I approached him a few times during my stay.

In spite of what happened here on February 22nd the staff stepped their game to accommodate all in lockdown. I felt for the staff as they couldn’t go home to their families. No complaints they took it in stride. Nicest people in the world! Never felt more safe and appreciated. Kudos to the Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta. Excellent service from the kindest friendliest people. Thank you! ?

The grounds areas are well kept and also the public areas, the rooms ar very clean, the dining is very organized. The waiters are very friendly and very organized. The pool areas are very well kept and clean, the beach area is excellent, there is always somebody sweeping.

i would like to comment on the staff member Eliana. She did not seem to understand basic concepts of travel. For example, i told her we wanted Premium seats, but definitely not the bulkhead. So she went ahead and assigned us to bulkhead seats. I tried to explain to her we absolutely did not want bulkhead. But she did not seem to understand. She wrote back in an email that she had checked with Westjet, and these seats (in bulkhead row) were definitely Premium (??). She just did not understand. We went ahead and did out own booking in Premium row 3. I would never use her as an agent again. If this is not the right place to make this comment, please forward this on to the appropriate dept. I have used Tripcentral many times in the past, but would never use her (Eliana) again. So i am not sure how i can screen for suitable trip advisors in future. Perhaps you can advise.

This was our second time here and we had a great time. We love this resort. The staff is really friendly, we had no issues booking any of the à la carts. The food was great lots to choose from on the buffet and the drinks were really good. We did manage to get lounge chairs at the adult pool and we did have to go out early to get them but after a couple of days, there was lots of chairs still available at 8 AM. Our room was cleaned every day and replenished with towels and if we needed more towels, we just asked and they were given. It’s a great location if you want to walk to Bucerias. We plan to go back next year.

Pros: Gorgeous views from the room, not overly busy, lots of seating/lounging options, good entertainment. Resort was clean, pools were nice. Staff was very friendly. Felt safe even with the public beach and restaurants nearby. Cons: Both beds in our room gave us back pain because they were sinking. Pillows were too thick for my liking, more back pain lol. Food was a bit dry and not as tasty as other Barcelo resorts. Something I ate upset my stomach (suspecting it was the fruit). Beach is public and waves and undertow can get pretty strong even for good swimmers. There was no conditioner in our showers, just shampoo and two body wash.

The hotel was impressive. Nice entrance, marble, great washrooms in the lobby, grounds were very nice, with lush vegetation. The room had a great bed,and was well air conditioned. Not the kind of plumbing we are used to in Canada, but servicable. Pool was great, nicely located on the marina, lots of options very close by, not too crowded, Great older hotel!

Pros: The service is superb. The beach and ocean here is beautiful. The staff was all really great to deal with. Cons: hotel is old. Rooms are small for the price. Entertainment was sub par. Overall expensive for what you get so I think there are better resorts.

The hotel (Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta) was very nice and the grounds are lovely. The staff are very helpful and approachable however it seems they are understaffed. This was most apparent at meal times in the general buffet. Booking the 'special' restaurants proved beyond hard and ridiculous which gave rise to more diners in the general buffet. Often other areas had to be opened up to accommodate the long queues.

We upgraded to Preferred which offered nothing. Advertising shows Sip, Savour, See which promises access to additional restaurants by reserving with concierge which was not honoured by resort. Disappointing.

We went to Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta in February 2026. When we got there we were giving a very small room with no balcony in the old part of the resort. The room was very small & dark. The next day the toilet would not flush, the sink would not drain. Then the light in the bathroom was not working. We went to reception & they said they would fix things. The next day we were still having issues & we talked to the manager & he gave us a different room in the main building. This room was much larger & had a balcony. It was much better. The adult pool was amazing. They even had a foam party in the pool. The beach was nice but the ocean was very rough. It was difficult to go swimming. The food was great but we had to book the A La Carte every morning at 7:00 for each day. The app would not work to alow us to do the bookings on it. We had a great vacation.

Loved the resort start to finish. Multiple pools. Beautiful beach to walk. Food was plentiful. If you couldn't find something to eat ,your problem. Multiple bars & washrooms. I loved the whole experience because I wanted relaxation. I did not want to come home. I will go back again next year to Grand Decameron Complex.

We spent 10 days at the FA in early February, with our adult daughter and her boyfriend. This was our second time there, the first being nearly 20 years ago. This is a very nice, relatively large but compact resort that was built around 1960 and has been very well maintained. All rooms above about the 2nd floor have oceanfront views with balconies – gorgeous; the lower rooms have larger balconies that are good for families but their views may be blocked by trees or buildings. Opt for a room on the northern side (higher numbers), as they will give you a view too over Puerto Vallarta town. This is not a party resort (though access to the bars and clubs of Puerto Vallarta is easy) – more a place to chill out and relax. There is one large pool with a small shallow kiddie section and swim up bar, and an adult pool above the buffet building reserved for fiesta club members (those paying more for rooms on the top 3 floors). All pools are fairly shallow – not made for swimming laps. The beach is about the best in the old Hotel Zone, although when we were there, the ocean was unusually rough and no one was swimming. You can walk quite a ways both north and south along the beach. Food: The breakfast buffet is excellent and fiesta club members can sit on an outside terrace directly overlooking the ocean. Lunch is in the same buffet area (more limited choices), plus there is food in the snack bar near the pool, at the fiesta club adult pool, and at the seafood (La Cevichería) restaurant. For dinner, there are 4 restaurants – Italian (very good), Asian (very good but inside), Mexican (alright) and the new Azur restaurant for fiesta club members (very mixed reviews – we didn’t try it). There is also a café in the lobby, serving real espresso, cappuccino…, some fruit and pastries, and in the afternoon, soft ice cream. The wine is drinkable (better than most AI resorts) and alcohol is of good quality (idem). In the evening, a very pleasant bar right overlooking the ocean serves for fiesta club members with somewhat higher class alcohol and a bit of finger food, located above the Cevicheria restaurant. In addition, the large lobby bar serves all clients with a wide choice of drinks. Vegetarians and vegans: The resort makes a small effort to accommodate them in all restaurants and the waiters generally know the ingredients of all dishes. Vegetarians in search of protein will eat tons of cheese and eggs, while vegans will go without (or eat outside the resort). The Italian and Asian restaurants are best for them, although the Asian restaurant strangely does not have tofu and watch out for their Pad Thai without the meat – they use a fish-based sauce to flavor it. The Mexican restaurant has few black beans and they are cooked with lard (no veggie beans available). However, in the lunch Cevichería fish restaurant, they cooked for us good veggie quesadillas, fries and provided guacamole – none of which were on the menu. Staff were invariably great: efficient (including the front desk), fun to talk with – great workers. You should know that salaries are very low for most of these jobs and they often spend a good hour each way coming to work and going home after long days of work. Please tip generously – they deserve it. For me, the biggest advantage of this resort is its location. You are 100 to 150 pesos by taxi (/uber) from the center of town (maybe a 10-minute ride) and, if you walk 200 meters to the right down the street, you can catch public buses downtown (direction “centro” or, for only the romantic zone, “tunel”) for 10 pesos (use exact change). Across the street a bit to the right is the Plaza Caracol shopping center that caters to local Mexicans, with a large grocery store (Soriana) and a good selection of booze (much cheaper than in the airport duty free). Sunscreen there costs about half that in the FA store. Despite the overall quality of the FA, I’d urge everyone to get out – walk the Malecon over to the romantic zone, have a dinner or two out, visit the art galleries, listen to music in the evening, etc. Very good restaurants (all with some veggie options) include: Modest: Calmate (with excellent healthy options for vegetarians and vegans, plus for meat eaters). Moderate: La Traviata Italian restaurant (on top of an older hotel roof with great views of sunset) and Archie’s Wok right beside the pier. More expensive (reservations often necessary): Barcelona Tapas (great sunset views), Hacienda San Angel (beautiful, with mariachis), La Capella (gorgeous sunset views directly overlooking the main church and the ocean), Trio (quite limited veggie options), and Café des Artistes (maybe the top restaurant in town, with high prices).

We have nothing bad to say about this resort. Food was quite good and the service was very good. Staff is second to non with drink service throughout the pool and beach areas. Our room was kept very clean and well stocked.

A gentle bay of small waves heights and wide sandy areas. The hotel is a true 3.5 star hotel regarding amenities however serves excellent food and is very clean. The staff is always helpful and very capable. With visitation to the other Decameron properties in Guayabitos included giving a perk to increase variety for one’s trip. Lastly the clientele is 60 percent Mexican and the rest seem to be Canadian.

Very nice resort , excellent service nice clean room and very good maid service , we really enjoyed our 2 weeks vacation. This is the resort we stayed on our first vacation to Puerto Vallarta , used to be Holiday Inn.
