Valuing a Cruise.
The best way to evaluate cruise costs and benefits is to compare the daily costs, or "per diems". Take the total cost of the cruise with taxes, and divide it by the number of days. An average per diem cost of a seven day Caribbean Cruise - inside cabin, is between $95-$120 USD ($142-$171 CDN) per person. Compare those costs to hotel accommodations of the same standard of service, amenities, safety, and cleanliness. Now add in the cost of equivalent quality of food, choice, and service, for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. On-board entertainment must be valued at the equivalent cost of admissions, cover charges, taxi fares to and from the hotel, and the hassle of figuring out "what to do" and "where to go" for entertainment. In some destinations, there simply is no entertainment! The larger the ship, the more entertainment options there will be to choose from. |
