It’s not lost on me what the Cuban people are going through and this review is in no way a reflection of the staff. That being said, it’s disgraceful what this hotel charges and how they claim to be a 5 star hotel. The pool was ice cold, and there was often no clean towels. The coffeemaker in the room never had coffee available and no power point to plug it in. It’s like it was there for decor. Bottled water wasn’t refreshed each day and many food/wine items at the restaurants weren’t available. I have a laundry list of issues from my stay and I understand the socioeconomic issues Cuba faces, but please don’t stay here. If you must travel to Havana, please stay at a private residence. You’ll have a much better experience and potentially save hundreds of dollars and you’ll actually support the Cuban people. This hotel was a joke.

We were at Blau Arenal for 2 weeks in January 2026. Resort is nice and very quiet. Less than 1/2 full. Power outages frequent but an on-site generator kicks on in under a minute. Wifi resets and available in rooms, lobby & at the snack bar. Staff is wonderful. We could always find good food at the buffet, but don't expect much of a selection at the bar. No blender or fruit juices. Rooms were clean & comfortable. Take hot (warmer) showers in the afternoon due to solar heating. Bring facecloths. The pool is cold but very clean. Gym had free weights & a universal set but treadmills & elliptical not working. I didn't try the bikes. Beach is nice, no mosquitoes right now, but read up on Midges. Their bites are nasty , we had dozens. The town of Guanabo to the right was a good beach hike away. Bus trips to Havana daily at 1030 with returns at 330 & 5pm. US$10 pp incl return. 30 min trip. Any nighttime returns will be by taxi. Bring lots to give away. Everyone appreciated it. Cheers!

It was a very great hotel. Food was good except they were mixing pork with most of the food which that was no good, but there was very great and clean. Lots of vegetables lots of food lots of fruits clean rooms every day cleaning new towels amazing shows 24 seven free drinks, which it was unbelievable very good. All in one word I loved it so much every day easy bus going to Havana and bringing back.

My experience at the National Hotel Havana was deeply disappointing. The room was dusty, and the floor had not been properly cleaned. There was no hot water, which made basic comfort impossible. I found a cockroach in the bathroom, which is unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one with this reputation. The issues continued at breakfast: The buffet was of poor quality, with limited fresh options. I even found a fly in my coffee, raising serious concerns about hygiene. Because of these conditions, I left the hotel after the first night and stayed at a relative’s house instead. Unfortunately, the hotel did not meet even the most basic standards of cleanliness or comfort.

It’s my third time in 3 years that I’ve been to this resort. Each time has been poorer when it comes to food. This last time, they rationed the meat and gave you the feeling of begging when wanting more. Terrible feeling. The evening meal is from 7:00 until 9:00, and the special part of the meal may last the first hour. So if you show up in the second hour, more often than not you miss that part. They also have someone serving the meat tray side (which was never before) so that they can monitor what you get. And yet the opposite side vegetables etc is self serve. I could go on…

This hotel is very centrally situated in Havana within walking distance to the park and the famous Floridita pub. The rooms are spacious with high ceiling and old Spanish era balconies. Like most of the buildings around, the architecture is reminiscent of bygone era. However, renovations are being done all over. The hotel itself is renovated with all basic amenities very well catered. Food was good and the staff was very polite and supportive, with maitre d'dining-room, Ms. Aiyna ever present to help with ones choice as far as practicable. We had a pleasurable stay.

I stayed at the Blau Arenal for a week in early December 2025. It was a really nice experience, I loved almost everything about the resort. The staff were exceptionally nice and well trained. The grounds were spotless and the rooms were clean and the A/C worked very well, despite the often blackouts. When there was a blackout the generator would come on instantly, so it really did not matter that much. One big plus was that the WiFi worked very well, for me this was a first after having been to Cuba 12 times previously. It was also free! The resort is situated on an absolutely beautiful stretch of white sand beach, as good as Varadero. In fact, now that I know of this beach there will never be a need to return to Varadero. Havana is only a short half hour shuttle ride away. The shuttle costs US$10 for a return trip. Two negatives I had for this resort. One was the food, it was often almost inedible. The problem was not the quality of the food but the cook or cooks. They used absolutely no spice except handfuls of salt. No garlic and not even black pepper was used. There was a total lack of creativity as far as the food was concerned. Breakfast was a little bit better because they had eggs and fresh rolls. A few minor tweaks to the food, such as adding a touch of sugar to the oil and vinegar salad dressing, maybe adding some garlic and a touch of soya sauce to the stews, etc, would have gone a long way. The heavy dose of salt was a heart stopper. They have lots of eggs so they could have made a mayonnaise for example. They have tomatoes so they could have made and offered pizzas and spaghetti and meat sauce, the two easiest solutions but I never saw that,rather there would be over cooked spaghetti but no meat sauce. There was also no snack bar, so no hamburgers or hot dogs for late at night and also no french fries, a pity. Another negative at this resort was the fact that the quality of the alcohol was not the best but it was still more acceptable than the food. Despite all the negative things I have written about the food, I don't think I will ever go to another resort in the area other than this one. Next time I will just bring my own peanut butter, some hot sauce too.

It is a very enjoyable place to stay . The pool is was very refreshing and well maintained . The food was good. We enjoyed the Coffee , but it could be served warmer. And the water in the room was not hot and discoloured , perhaps, it was due to the hurricane. The chairs were broken and need to be replaced . The staff was helpful and friendly

The hotel was good , the room was always clean the service was good , the beach is dirty beer cans all over the place and you have to watch for broken glass on the beach the town was 30 minutes away it was a nice walk. Over I had a wonderful time and going back in February

The hotel grounds are quite limited but exceptionally clean. Public areas were quite accessible, acceptable and fairly clean but no paper towels or hand dryers. Our room was quite large and clean and well attended to by the maids. Dining, was not bad for Cuban standards with lots of baked fish at dinner time along with much ice cream. This hotel is much worth the money especially if you enjoy the beach and like nightly entertainment. Its proximity is close to old Havana by bus which costs $10 US from the hotel return. Go Canadians and enjoy.

Thé place is nice , lot s of opportunités for thé manager Miguel and his team to make you feel like hall has taken thé Haven . Doffenetly it s a bring Your own food place . Theres Even a Shattle to take you to thé great area of thé City garbage hole . If you feel lonely , it a a good place to want to be lonlier … good security , very repliable for thé touriste . Don t take Your phone with you id useless . In a nut Shell , stay home Cuba to be avoided at all Times …

The hotel is in a very central location. It's completely new and clean. The rooms are quite large, the beds are spacious,The internet does not work very well, there are disconnections. It's only a 5-minute walk to central park and only a 10-15-minute walk to all the squares. If I ever come to Cuba again, I would definitely stay at the same hotel. I recommend it to everyone.

After everything is included with the package (flight, hotel, breakfasts) the value is exceptional. Room was clean, lobby bar and pool/rooftop bar and menu was great. The Havana location is second to none. This package is well worth the money

It was very quiet not many things to do and no entertainment. The pool was very nice and the lobby was welcoming. There is only one dining area,and there are lots of cats that like sit at your table and wait to be fed

We recently stayed for three nights at the Blau Arenal. It is a nice, clean family resort with good amenities. It is close enough to Havana so we were able to visit this terrific city. The staff were nice, and the people at the front desk let us know all bout our unique travel details, and kept us informed of time of transfers, etc...However, if you are looking for a resort with all the "bells and whistles" of a typical resort, this is not for you. There was no entertainment, only one bar, one restaurant, small beach, and not exactly the resort you want if you are looking for nightlife or things to keep you busy.

Had a great week with friendly staff, excellent rooftop pool to recharge and regen in the morning after late nights. My room was simple but very clean and bright and great AC and sleep and shower. Most oustanding was location. Right downtown/central and on the sea with famous havana malecon on our doorstep and everything Havana has rto offer within easy walking distance.. Breakfast was all I ever need - lots of coffee, fruit, ommeletes and bread/toasts. Great for starting and fuelling up your day! Would highly recommend for those looking fro great value, greta location and comfort. But especially the rooftop pool. Only material thing misssing was a room safe - at least in my room. Will defintely visit again.

Some of the staff are amazing! Some were slow lazy and argent, The buildings and grounds where good, the food was poor, everything was bland, the same meals everyday, the high lights where the eggs in the morning! Coffee was weak, cream nonexistent, the beer was flat served in little soft plastic cups, infect all drinks where served in such a manor, the wine was ok, they ran out of everything, even rum! Many tourist with local hooker at the hotel! Go for a walk to the near by town if you wanna be bombarded by prostitution and poverty! The lagoon near the resort also kept a steady amont of sand Flys and mosquitoes! I will not return to this hotel or to this area of Cuba unless I'm volunteer with some kind of humanitarian aid!

Food was good with lots of meat and real eggs. Near the Capital Havana about 40 min taxi ride... It is an all included... Will advise to take suit which is a big room with a king size bed... The beach can be dirty for lack of surveillance during the night and some days the beach was beautiful but some days the water was dirty because of swamp... Overall a good resort in terms of price quality!

Centrally located near Prado and Park Central a short walk to old city. Unique pool overlooking harbour entrance and fort on opposite side. Good choices for breakfast buffet. Service was above standard but the hotel is showing signs of lax maintenance standards. Overall I'd give it almost 5

The hotel is a good location to visit the the sites of Havana. Everything in the hotel is outdated but the rooms are clean and the A/C works. The food at the breakfast buffet is decent, it is small so there are very little options but it is nice that it is free. The service at the buffet is not great. I don't understand obtaining water, sometimes it was free and sometimes we had to pay for water???

I've been to this hotel/resort on many occasions. This time I noticed,was cleaner, the food was of value, utilities were fine, room was clean and attentive. The supply of drinking water was not explained.i found the staff controlled the supply. Power outages,was a nuisance,but was manageable.on the whole. I had a pleasant ,two weeks.

Watching the sunset over the Malecon while sipping a Cuba libre by the Infiniti pool on the rooftop is simply breathtaking! This hotel met all my expectations: luxurious, friendly staff , great amenities and an amazing breakfast spread. Not to mention the closed proximity to Paseo Prado and the rest of Havana vieja.

Very simple hotel. No elevator, lots of stairs, so not suitable for people with mobility issues. Simple but large rooms with two Queen beds. Bathroom is old with a large tub. Large balconies are lovely for sitting when the sun isn’t directly on them. Pleasant stare. A tour bus every 40 minutes starting at 9am takes you to Old Havana. It was CA$5 for a return ticket. Last bus returns at 5pm from Parque Central. I’ve returned to the Atlantico many times. The food is simple but plentiful. Given the massive inflation that Cuba has faced, a US$1 tip is too small. Bring Euros or dollars in small denominations for purchases in Havana and for tops.

The hotel is well located and airy. Breakfast is very good compared to other hotels I have been in Habana Standing in the balcony one can get nice breeze from the sea as well as beautiful scenery. Three meals a day are served all buffet selections.The restaurants outside and not far from the hotel serve my favorite grilled whole fish.

Nice Hotel. However dont' book a basic room. It has no windows and pales by comparison to the rooms at the front of the building. Also contrary to some information this Hotel does not have a pool or any other amenities geared to fitness or lounging, nor does it have 110v outlets. That being said the location is very good, easily with-in walking distance of many decent cafes, restaurants and entertainment. No issues with elevators, hotwater or airconditioning. Just remember...Your not in Kansas Dorthy, you are in Cuba where the finer things in life may not be available. Relax and Enjoy the beautiful city for what it is.

Great hotel just 40 minutes from downtown Havana with a $5 daily shuttle for those who want both a resort and Havana visit(s). Beach is wild looking - no buildings visible at the coast line- just sand dunes and palm trees. Fine white sand, warm turquoise water. Gorgeous pool. Nice staff - front desk people go over and above to help you. Food was delicious.

We’ve stayed here before. They’re upgrading the rooms, we really found nothing wrong. Air conditioning great, hot water, T.V., only a few channels. I didn’t care for the lock on the rooms, you had to slam them to lock. Also $3.00 weekly to rent safe. The biggest complaint I heard was the nonstop loud music playing by the pool and beach. We asked them to turn it down, did for a while then turned it up again saying the Cubans like it loud. I can see why the Cubans talk loud !

People expecting a 5 star resort should save up and and go to one. if you're like me and want a beautifull beach front resort and 20 minutes to havana You might just like this place. The staff are really helpfull. You won't starve, if you need a change of diet there are great affordable restaurants. nearby and in Havana. I guess its just a question of what you are lookin for. Return bussfare tickets to Havana are just 5 bucks,

This was my first time.to a resort as well first time to Cuba. Close to Havana. You can take a bus or taxi. Pool and beach is nice. Food is terrible, however you will never go hungry. My favorite food to eat was the omelet or hard boiled eggs in the morning. I didn't care for thr room. I paid extra for the superior room. Overall I wasn't happy and will not go back there. However I'm not telling anyone not to go there. You may enjoy it!!

The food is terrible and I'm not sure you can call it food. Hygiene awareness is basically non-existent everywhere in the resort. It’s a health hazard. I survived by basically not eating the whole time I was there. Insect bites are another problem. Broken glass and dirt everywhere on the beach...

Great hotel in an excellent location. Food in both of the restaurants and the breakfast buffet was very good. Pool was beautiful with towel and bar and food service. One thing I would say is do not exchange your money at the hotel. Bring USD in small bills.

No Sunwing Rep ever on site. Staff not willing to inform you when they will be or try to contact them for you. PROSTITUTES nightly. Brought this up with hotel staff and security and they laughed at me. This hotel welcomes prostitutes into the hotel for their guests and can buy a day pass for $45. There was a pimp choking his woman on the dance floor in front of guests on New Years and the hotel staff did nothing. Unfriendly staff. WiFi is limited to 1 free hour per day, no way to contact anyone outside of hotel. No immediate help from Trip Central or Sunwing regarding all of these listed issues Garbage in public areas. It did not move from the floors or stairwells for 5 days. ONLY 1 restaurant. Advertised as 4 restaurants for food. This is a lie. They do not have any cocktails and they won’t mix you any. All they will do is rum and coke and beer. Dirty bed sheets. They smell bad and have stains all over. Dirty floors and walls in rooms. Ceilings have mould on them. Snack bar hardly ever opens. Limited to 90-120 minutes per day and it’s only ham sandwiches. NOT AS ADVERTISED!!!

Resort grounds are astounding. With more maintenance and better service it could be a solid three star hotel. Rooms are totally outdated. Wifi coverage at times is first class and at another time, it is totally non existent. Food for Cuban standards was ok. No hot water at the hotel wing we stayed in.

We enjoyed this hotel again. It seems painted up, floors especially polished, elevator working every day. Rooms are small but clean and comfortable. But not many tourists. The wonderful beach across the street makes it so important for Havana. $5.00 shuttle to Central Park Havana many times daily until about 5:00 p.m.

They changed our room 3 times during our stay. (7day) we are continuous moving from one room to the other the hotel leaks water from roof do not recommend. The staff barely speak English and all they want is tips.

Everything was an improvement compared to 3 months ago. Everything was clean. Utilities were fair.the food was better than expected.good value for the price. I would visit here again.we had good entertainment.

I used to go to this hotel several times per year. On the negative side, there are a few things to be said. The rooms need to be updated. The A/C was leaking water. There was mold in the bathrooms. The washrooms, close to the pool, did not have toilet paper. Food was of poor quality - no variety; every day the same thing, cooked the same way, and many times not tasty. There were days when essential things were missing, (e.g. napkins). Some newer, younger servers did not seem to care if there were or not glasses or cutlery on the tables. It is obvious they needed training. On the positive side, must say that in general people were quite pleasant. Older, seasoned servers (in the restaurant and at the bar), reception, hotel security staff, and the people taking care of the grounds, were pleasant, courteous, very friendly. As I used to come to this place quite often, must say that I have seen an improvement, in that both elevators were working 24/7, and there were no instances of blackouts.

So historic and beautiful, well maintained and very clean. Mattress was new and extremely comfortable. AC was cold, staff was excellent and hotel was in the most central location possible. Would absolutely return.10 +

Great location over the beach, very friendly service. Unfortunately, positives were offset by the lack of long overdue maintenance to the building and its surroundings, what finally forced us to move to another hotel.

Very good location, old hotel , good bar , not very clean room, small pool, i recommend this hotel sor good beach and bar , it is near havana so you can enjoy both beach and history , for a three star hotel it is acceptable , in the rooms toilets are old , for safety box and wifi i paid extra money

Room was great, clean with great ocean view. Although water pressure was an issue. Staff were super friendly and help full. Facilities are clean. In room coffee maker was awkward to use and produced weak coffee. Food was just so so in the main resturant. Has to send one meal back as it was served cold. Preferred to eat at local places in the city. Need more food selection in tapas bar. Quality and quantity in the breakfast buffet was excellent. Some of their systems are awkward , but that may be a product of government controls ie no cash allowed. Unrelated to the hotel, but in Havana you are constantly harassed with people wanting to change money, buy drinks, buy tours etc. Not my first time there and it's not the same old Havana. The economy is bad and the people are getting desperate, but no evidence of crime. Now for the bad part. The return flight was delayed appox 4 hours but the outbound flight was delayed over 7 hours. Received a $20 food voucher but it should be more. I need to find out more about a possible claim.

We stayed 7days and very satisfied with this hotel, clean, safe and nice stuffs. We don’t have any complain for food because they already try their best to serve tourists. Also the hotel is very convenient for people to Havana.

I stayed at Blau Arenal for a week. I was incredibly surprised and happy with the resort. The rooms were spacious and clean. The food was good. The beach was lovely and it was a short trip on the shuttle to Havana. The staff was kind and accessible. I have zero complaints and would recommend this resort to friends wishing to combine a beach vacation with accessibility to Havana.

This place exceeded my expectations. It was clean and comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The rooms are a bit dated but better than I expected. We made use of the gym, pool and beach. I also enjoyed the musicians who played one night.

This hotel is top of the line. The buffet breakfast is excellent and high quality. The pool is spectacular. The room was perfect. it is worth paying about 60 US per week extra to get an external view of the ocean. Hugh

Fantastic location, that's it. Bed, room, balcony are all too small for 1 person, let alone 2. Most staff are indifferent at best, with a few that are excellent. I stopped going to the rooftop bar because of difficulties with the staff. I stopped going to the outdoor cafe after they continuosly ignored me or just flat out didn't bring my order. I used to go to the Inglaterra, as a visitor, on my every trip to Cuba. But as an actual guest, I've lost any desire to ever return. To be fair, it was not horrible, but for the price I paid, it was far from enjoyable. The Telegrafo Hotel next door is newly renovated and appears to be a far superior choice in every comparable aspect.

This must have once been a glorious resort. However, they seem to be suffering form lack of funds post covid and the property is a bit run down. But it is clean, staff are friendly, food was good. Beach just across the road.

I would give this place 10 stars if I could. Beautiful premises, prime location, great quality food - this place has it all. However, what makes it truly unique is the quality of service and the personalized touch. The staff is professional and friendly and the hotel managers, Eric and Pavel, truly go out of their way to get to know their guests’s needs and will do everything they can to make your stay just perfect. You will not regret your choice if you decide to stay here, I already look forward to coming back.

I would like to begin saying that I always received an excellent treatment from the entire hotel’s waiters and waitresses, bartenders, housekeepers and front desk personnel. The rooms, bathroom and the hotel in general was very clean and well maintained, the pool was terrific and also very clean and organized. There were plenty of hardware and furniture for seating and relax all around the pool and on the beach. The beach was also very nice with plenty of white sand and transparent waters full of little fish swimming around. There is a wooden bridge that gives access to the beach from the hotel. The bridge has a cocktails service where they prepare Pina-coladas, cocktails and smoothies. The food wasn’t the best if compared with other 4 start hotels I’ve been before but, it was fairly diverse and well prepared; fruit and salads were locally supply and seasonal (okra, tomatoes, cucumber, watermelon, pineapple, papaya, guava, eggplant and other). The restaurant is huge with 7 food stations grouped by, Juices deserts and drinks, vegetables and salads and fruits, meats and fish (beef, chicken, lamb, pork, shrimp, crab, tilapia filets and lobster meat) bread and cheese (gouda only I saw), charcuterie (serrano ham, mortadella, peperoni and a local made ham too salty for my taste) and two other stations, one with the legendary Cuban roasted pig black beans and rice and plantain and, the grill where you can get beef, chicken or fish (grouper, snapper, seabass) depending on the day. The hotel has an excellent stuff. I would like to mention the manager Miguel, who is always open to suggestions and critics, to Arbeli the guy who always keep the pool pristine and greet you with a smile in the face every morning. I also like to mention the excellent treatment I always received by the hotel desk personnel, Yaima, Dianelis and Henny (sorry for my spelling) among other whose names I can’t remember. I would also like to mention and thank Jorge the bartender and the girl also a bartender that, unfortunately, I can't remember the name, Pedro the chef and Oel the waiter in the restaurant and all the rest of the service personnel and bartenders from who I received a very professional treatment

Very good location, large and comfortable room and beds, nice pool , very amazing night show, very good breakfast, safe place . Only problem with room was no cofee maker or tea maker, large room and bath, relatively nice staff I recommend this hotel to others, it was already a famous casino and at present it is choice for diplomates

This is the oldest hotel in Havana and we have enjoyed our stay there. The room was comfortable, the staff friendly and attentive, and the breakfast was good. We especially enjoyed the rooftop terrace at night with its lovely views, and the terrace at the front of the hotel, which offered great music throughout the day.

Ten out of Ten ! The Mystique Regis hotel provided us with a marvelous place to stay while we explored the heart of old Havana. Our room on the second floor was gorgeous and had 16 foot tall ceilings! Bed was comfy, all furniture and fixtures were brand new, lots of room, good A/C. Breakfast on the 7th floor was great (eggs how you like them with a large selection of meats, cheeses and fruits) and the staff were always friendly and efficient. We never got tired of the panoramic view from the patio up there since the hotel is right on the Prado = Paseo de Marti = a gorgeous pedestrian mall that quickly leads you "downtown" to the Parque Central and so many intriguingly explorable streets. As long as you don't need a swimming pool this place is PERFECT ! Special thanks to Marta and Isobel on the front desk !

The hotel public place and room were very clean. The hotel name should be Saint John’s not Hotel Vedado. The breakfast had natural fruit juices. Eggs, omelettes and assorted vegetables and fruits. One day we just got a plate of cheese and bread.

The hotel was beautiful and the rooms were better than expected. The bartenders and food staff were fun, cheerful people. The food was good and nobody got ill (which is a worry for some in the tropics). The beach is outstanding... soft sand, shallow, very warm water, no seaweed or critters that we saw. We took a daytrip to Havana on the hotel's shuttle and enjoyed the city. It was quite empty at the resort so there was plenty of room and chairs everywhere. We'd certainly consider the hotel again if we go back to Cuba.

Booked due to proximity to Havana. We spent minimal time on the resort. For the price it was better than expected. Clean. Beautiful pool and great beach. Cuban resort food is mediocre unless you go to a 5 star. Not much to do at the resort but good spot to stay if you want a nice beach with quick access to Havana. Staff was good

I was very happy with the grounds and dining service. The bar was well stocked and people wet very friendly. My only complaint is the VIP service I paid an extra 100.00 for and I did not receive and of this. No beach towel, no ocean front veiw, fridge was not stocked as stated and no Cartier service or the rum as promised when I booked it and the service e desk should have given more information as to the bar on the beach when I arrived and where to go to get a towel ect......

The resort had basic necessities but an overall depressive feel to it. It might have something to do with the attitude of the staff as it felt like no one liked working there. Asking for anything was a challenge because the staff would give us attitude for doing so. It almost felt like we were made to feel bad to ask for necessary things, like water and toilet paper. I booked it knowing it wasn't a 5 star hotel but figured we'll just be using the beach and going to Havana, so it wouldn't matter. I've stayed in plenty of hostels before so the runned down facilities didn't bother me, but even hostels have better customer service. If you've come all the way to Cuba then I'd suggest going somewhere with better energy - it's so important. Somehow we felt unwelcomed every day and my family was happy to have gotten out of there on the last day.

As soon as you walked into the room, you experienced a immediate stench in the room because there's no air circulating. The bathroom was dirty and old. Very dark depressing room. I was given a single twin bed, not even a double when I requested a king bed. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone especially with the price I paid and for what I received. Breakfast was included but incredibly basic. Bread, fruits, pastries, cheese & omlette/fried egg grill. No bacon. The hotel is going through renovation which meant the swimming pools weren't available and the back was a construction site.

especially the Playas del Este beach is very nice and just behind the hotel but what i have learned from frequent travelers to this place is that hey did not use the COVID timeout to improve that place which came down for some people as moisture in the wall, very worn out bathroom-tabs . Also the once free bus shuttle to Havana from the Hotel does not exist anymore.You can use a comfortable bus runnning almost hourly from 10 to 5pm all day as often as you want for 5 CAD or the local A45 to the via Blanca (or walk up there in 30 minutes) and from there the A40 for 2 CUP each. They run from 5AM to 1AM but are always packed full with peoples. The Covid related loss of tourism and income shows a lot all over Havana from falling apart ( not maintained) buildings over higher prices for Cigars to Duty free stuff at the Varadero Airport. They are in desperate need for devises and the tourist is the only cow that they can milk. What remains is the friendliness and cheerfulness of the Cubans.which makes up for some of the shortcomings. .

The feature I liked was the proximity to Old Havana and a free shuttle twice a week. Hotel is clean and friendly. Spacious patio with lots of seating. Large bright dining room. Great views and close to the beach with many lounge chairs. Rooms adequate and have big windows out to the ocean and breeze. Food delicious and plentiful. If there are blackouts( to save on limited electricity ) the elevators don't work for a two hour period. Free internet. Not a 5 star but an excellent two star hotel!

Hotel is old but room is clean, AC and Hair dryer worked really well. Shower had very low water pressure and cold, also fridge did not work. Evening entertainment boring, just 1 person singing Spanish songs some nights and some nights just watching dancing on the TV. Noting going on in the daytime. Pool is ok and close to beach. Half an hour bus ride to Havana, bus only accept US dollars or EU currency $10.00 per person. Bus service is very bad, no schedule, it runs every 45 mins to 1.5 hours. Noting in the area except a 20 mins walk to another hotel, where there are some souvenir stand outside in the street and some food stand. Some staff are nice, some not. Same food everyday for breakfast, lunch and dinner with not a lot of variety. Boil plantain, Eddoes, Sweet potato, rice 4 different ways, boil pork, boil chicken, 4 types of fruits, cakes, rice salad, beans salad, not forgetting all the flies that are helping themselves to all the food. I can put up with everything, not that picky, but the flies, I refuse to deal with. No napkins, no milk for coffee, only beers and rum and wine, no fancy girly drink. Sometimes they run out of soda and glasses. The cut used water bottles and use the bottom part as glasses. They say 24 hour snack bar, but that's not true. I am not complaining but just trying to be honest. I was there early September 2022. I would recommend the hotel only for the proximity to Havana, but spend you day and buy food outside.

Our three night stay was made perfect by the wonderful staff and superb accommodations. The hotel location made sightseeing and absorbing the local culture and history a delightful experience. We would recommend this location to anyone.

The grounds very good the plants and flowers was amusing and the ground itself was very clean. The food and drinks was good but the swimming pool water wasn’t clean since I arrived in that hotel until I left the water wasn’t changed.Over all was good.

Our flight delayed on 29th July 2022 because of sunwing problem, neither Sunwing nor hotel accommodate us. On top of that it's worst customer service on front desk, even food and hotel conditions very poor quality and services. I don't recommend this kind of services from both sunwing and HOTEL it's height of unhuman and nonsense.

My review of Hotel Atlantico is measured by it's condition over the last decade to it's present condition post covid. When our bus pulled up to the gates of Atlantico we were greeted by a new sign Grand Caribe. This indicates that the present regime has sold a percentage to the hotel chain and released some of it's autonomy over the running of the establishment. Over the coming days I witnessed some minor changes in lobby and dining room furniture. Little else has been changed structurally. The new administration's greatest impact has been to a much more welcoming staff. Almost every employee regardless of position were helpful and accommodating. There were however a few of the old guard that will never learn but they were severely outnumbered by the positive mass. The hotel is strategically located 24 kilometers from Havana and 4 kilometers from Gaunabo sitting on a very nice patch of beach. The government may have cut out it's pesticide program. The mosquitoes were relentless and nasty. The dining room was well organized and actually had several condiments. The menu has been shortened but that is offset by a more caring kitchen staff and it shows itself with edible food this time around. This hotel could have rusted into the sea but now it is a facility well worth its price.

The serving staff was very friendly and attentive. Reception has no idea what's happening out of the hotel. Busing ànd activities,even getting a bottle of water from the hotel store, was not known. Messaging and info., Is poor

Good and friendly staff, the advertise for the rooms is not exactly the same as what we get, they advertise really nice rooms but when we get there, the rooms are really old and really not the same as the pictures that they show but they are clean, really not enough variety on the buffet, same thing every day, nothing spicy, no hot sauce and fade. Nice bar at night with music and entertainment but even on weekends they close all that way too early at 11pm! I recommend the massages, I had 4 during the week, really relaxing and not expensive and really professional! But overall if they make a few changes it would be a nice place to go!

The room was clean, no mini bar, no coffee maker, only one shampoo and two soaps. No elevator to 2nd floor or 3rd. Gym was not usable. Beach was dirty and shared with ppl from outside the hotel. Food options were limited and food quality below the average. Where something was done on the food table they would leave it empty or would take them ages to fill it up. Bar was so restricted to only one type beer. Don't expect cocktails, except rum and liquor drinks with ice. Only good part was coffee. I paid $1650 from Vancouver to here and from Toronto my friend came here for less than $1000.

Restaurant, bar and security staff are very pleasant, very helpful; cannot say the same about the reception staff, where some of them are very nice, helpful, while others are not. Food quality is very poor; same food every day - no variety - however, the kitchen staff are trying to do their best, with the available ingredients. There were days where in the morning there was no butter, no cheese and no ham. Very poor bread quality; could not eat it - had to be toasted. Rooms are clean, and staff are pleasant and helpful. However, TV reception is very poor. Despite requesting for a technician to fix it, this did not happen, for the whole length of my stay. The pool area, for my taste, is quite noisy. This is also the area where the nightly entertainment takes place; the high music volume would certainly be a major inconvenience for the those whose rooms are facing this area, for people who would like to rest. As this is not the first time I stayed in this hotel, regretfully I must say that food quality went down, despite price going up dramatically. (For one week stay I paid the same price I paid for a two week vacation, just about less than two months before.) I am disappointed. The hotel is located about 25 minutes (by taxi) to Havana. Beware of cab drivers. You can run into real scammers. They can charge anywhere from 1000 to 2500 Cuban Pesos each way. You are better off to get a shuttle bus (across the street), which would charge you $10 US per person (must pay with a non-US credit card), for a return trip to Havana. The hotel reception should be able to provide the schedule.

Un mot: horrible! On ne comprends même pas pourquoi les voyagistes vendent cet hôtel la direction et la sécurité traitent les locaux et les étrangers de manière épouvantable. Cet endroit est non digne ni représentatif de l'hospitalité Cubaine. Nous avons voyagé en famille et nous ne recommandons pas cet hôtel. À éviter à tout prix! Nous sommes restés dans d'autres 3* à Cuba et ailleurs dans le monde et l'Atlantico ne mérite pas même une étoile pour son service à la clientèle, l'atmosphère et évidemment en considérant que Cuba n'est pas une destination culinaire.... Y'a quand même des limites à être aussi mal reçu. Nous nous assurerons de commenter davantage sur notre blog voyage. HORRIBLE!

I just got back from NHCapri hotel in Havana. I really enjoyed my stay, the staff was wonderful they made me feel welcomed. My room was a Standard room ,but still spacious, bed and pillows were comfortable cleaned every day and the view from my window it was very spectacular having in my view the ocean and the famous National hotel of Cuba beautifully lit at night . A copious breakfast was included and at the rooftop restaurant they had delicious lunch and dinner and an amazing 360 view of the city. Also on the roof top they had the swimming pool beautiful views as well just the water was cold for me, but is December what should I want! Only inconvenience that it was not the hotels fault, when I booked the hotel on trip central it was advertised that at the hotel they offer the PCR test needed to come home. Well it wasn't, I had to go to the International clinic, not far from the hotel,but they made us wait more than 4 hours standing outside the building, luckily they were some trees to have some shade. I felt that a day was waisted from my vacation and because I had before hard attack it was not an ideal situation. I will still go back one day.

Everything went well. The staff were attentive and friendly. I'm glad I decided to go. I would definitely go again sometime next year. Thank you for helping me with my trip, especially the information regarding the covid-19 and the documents required.

Hotel is like most in cuba. Tired and not maintained properly. However rooms are clean and everything worked. ( tv, fridge, shower, lamps etc) Weather in January is this area is 18-26 degrees daily. Wind and rain are not a surprise. Pool water was dirty with bugs and leaves etc.. floating around. Hotel is the only beach front hotel at playa del este. Beach is one of the best beaches I’ve ever seen. And I’ve travelled a lot. Covid related- everyone is wearing mask all the time , indoors and outdoors. Due to Covid-19,many places are closed, ( small restaurants little kiosks etc) Covid testing facility is 40km away ( on the other side of Havana) and it will cost you 1000 pesos return trip to go get tested , and another 1000 to pick up results. They don’t mail them, they don’t fax them.testing is only done 9-12 am but picking up is 24/7 ( so they say) You need to pick them up. Out of 3 tests they did for my group, they make mistakes in typing names on 2. Then we waited more for the results to be re-typed . Test is 30usd . -credit card only- visa only. In addition they double charged me which I’m still to call visa about. If cab is split 4 ways, that’s 20usd a person plus 30 for test each. It will also cost you two days at 3 hours each. Because of Covid and small number of tourists there are no taxis readily available. You better book it a day or two before and hope they show up. When you first arrive and are tested at the airport, they give you a a yellow arm band in the hotel. You’re not supposed to go anywhere with yellow band but there’s nobody stopping you if you do. Then you wait 3 full days and on the morning of the 4th day, you get green band. Internet in the hotel doesn’t work longer than 30 seconds, but they won’t know this as in general their English skills are poor and their IT understanding not existent. Food is excellent for cuba ( and I’ve been to 15+ Cuban resorts) They actually had salads ( veggies are rare at these places) and they had chicken, beef or pork in various meals which is also rare. Stuff is trying to help, but with their limited knowledge this often amounts to no help at all. Also, CUC is accepted only in the bank and nowhere else. CAD is only accepted in the bank as well. CUC = 24, USD =24 and CAD 16 pesos. If you ask anyone else you will get 30 up to 38 peso per USD . People desperately look for USD. I routinely exchanged USD for 33-36 pesos without issues in small stores or restaurants. All in all, with waiting 3 days for results, 50USD AND 6 hours wasted to test again, stress of organizing it and anticipation of results ( what if you test false positive?) makes the trip unpleasant . Walking to the east 3 km on the road next to the beach will get you to another hotel. You may walk in ( like I did) only to find out that it’s a Hotel for asymptomatic Covid patients. Of course no guard at the beach .. once you walk in you may be in trouble and not be able to leave.. Personally I like adventure, so I didn’t mind any of this, however anyone who is looking for relaxing vacation.. this ain’t it.

I love this hotel. It's by no means a high end hotel but it has it's charm. The thing I like best is the ocean pool since there are no real beaches to speak of in Havana, you have to travel quite a ways to get to one.

Beautiful grounds. Nice swimming pool. Food usually good. Easy to get anywhere. Close to the ocean. Safe. Clean. We would go back again. Room service would have been nice or a coffee maker in the room

Overall this is a decent Hotel with a great beach. If you have any disability then its not for you. There are stairs and more stairs with no elevators. The food is very basic and I suggest you bring spices. Basic drinks with cola being the only mix...no juice or 7up. We took an updated room and it was decent. Cleaned every day. We found staff to be friendly and helpful.

THE FOLLOWING IS BASED ON OUR OBSERVATION AND CONVERSATIONS WITH MANY OTHER GUESTS WE SPOKE WITH IN GENERAL CONVERSATIONS: 1. FOOD WAS THE SAME ALL DAY EVERYDAY 2. PEOPLE SERVING US WERE NOT TOO INTERESTED. IT SEEMED LIKE WE WERE BOTHERING THEM WHEN WE ASKED FOR SOMETHING. 3. RESORT OVERALL WAS DELAPIDATED AND WOULD NEED MAJOR IMPROVEMENTS. 4. SUNWING REP WASN'T VERY KNOWLEDGABLE. WE HAD TO POINT OUT PLACES OF INTEREST. 5. BEACH WAS FABULOUS. ** THE 2 STARS BELOW IS FOR THE POOL. WE'VE BEEN ALL OVER THE WORLD AND OUR EXPECTATIONS ARE ALWAYS VERY LOW AS WE NEVER EXPECT IT TO BE LIKE HOME BUT IN THIS CASE, THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE FOR THE $ WAS NOT WORTH IT.

We had been told this was a good hotel, 3*. It was barely okay. The food, while not surprising for Cuba, was repetitive and often dry (chicken). They never had any yougurt, the first time in over 40 years of going we have seen this. And not one mojitto. These are the things that make Cuba acceptable. The beach was lovely but dirty. The staff were kind and helpful. The bedspreads were very dirty. There were lots of steps, though i had requested no stairs, This was definitely not the right resort for us. We would not go back there.

I like Hotel Marazul/Tropicoco, I have been going every January for 5 years, my comments are based on those 5 years that I have experienced. But I think it is almost dead, the staff are still wonderful people, they do a great job looking after me. The hotel lobby is more empty than busy, it used to be a friendly busling environment but not so much now. The Animation team is all but non existent, items advertised for things to do through the day (bingo, dance lessons, etc.) did not happen, of a 7 day week there were 2 decent shows in the evening, the other days a disc jockey just played music hoping people would come down and dance. Food, the food was normal for Cuba, I never got sick never had problems but one gets tired of the very same thing day in and day out, basically the same gruel every day, if there were more local restaurants on the street I would suggest they change to being a breakfast only place. If it were not for it's proximity to Havana I would classify it as a useless hotel, the beach is great but that is about where it ends. To make matters worse the price for Marazul/Tropicoco has gone up substantially from previous years, sorry, but Hotel Marazul/Tropicoco is not a $1,000.00 a week hotel, they advertise 3 star, to me at best is deserves only 2 stars. Further in the survey/review it asks if I would recommend the hotel there is only a yes or no choice but my choice is maybe as over the years I have enjoyed being here and if I learn that it is improved I would say yes but at this time I will mare the survey question "no" I will still investigate coming here in the future but I am now looking elsewhere for my January vacation.

On a lovely beach, in a low-key area, moderate cost, and close access to Havana - great combination. Rooms were clean, well-kept, comfortable, and everything worked. Good range of food, and good quality. Staff were friendly and helpful.

This hotel was so cute and cozy. Staff was amazing and so is beach. I would definitely come back again and recommend this hotel. It's three stars but worth it ... I actually stayed at a 4.5 star and this was better

We had an absolutely fantastic time here. The beach is incredible and the access to Havana very good with the free shuttle every day. The staff are very friendly and I love the 24 hour café overlooking the pool/ocean. There were recreational activities by staff such as Rosa (e.g., bocce on the beach, dancing lessons) which were fun. The rooms are dated but the beds are clearly new as the mattresses were excellent for me. There were some plumbing issues but once I became familiar with these issues I had no problems (e.g., the cold water shower tap was relatively limited whereas there was much more water coming from the hot water tap so the trick was to turn on the cold water full initially and then slowly increase hot water until it was a good temperature).

This hotel build in 1908 is in very good shape including the guest rooms, the lobbies, the gardens and the pool. The decor is very Spanish. The staff we encountered were marvelous. We had 2 lovely notes from the maids. There were different genres of music frequently in the main lobby and at the 9th floor dining room. The staff at reception were very informed when we asked questions. The food was excellent. The hotel history is fascinating. We were fortunate to have one of the staff give us a tour and inform us of the history. Built is 1908 and added on to in the 1920's it has has many reincarnations .... a hospital, a school and accommodated 2 large casinos. People staying there included the mafia who were running rum to Miami during the US Prohibition. The mafia were very involved in the 2 casinos. Al Capone stayed in room 615 when he was in Havana. General Batista occupied the 9th floor when he was a dictator in Havana. The social and financial conditions of the working people were explained during the rule of Batista and Castro. We loved ssstaying there and would go back to the Sevilla The only disappointment was the sporadic hot water.

I've stayed here now as a solo female about 8 times. It is only a 15 min. drive from Havana ~ 5 cent bus, $5 round trip shuttle, or a $10-$15 private taxi. The pool is amazing and super clean. The beach beside the hotel is pretty nice. The rooms are VERY basic and the food is bad - but you get what you pay for. I meet the nicest world travelers here, and this place also has THE BEST STAFF EVER. Sometimes this place is pretty quiet, other times it is quite a fun party place... you never know what you're going to get. I've been to many hotels in Havana - including some of the really expensive ones - but my heart belongs to this hotel. LOVE IT !!

Didn't give to us brief meeting about the hotel and services, the resort don't have porters so I had to load the luggage all the time, the Elevators Don't work, we eat the same poor meal three times a day 4 days in the road, the room was dirty and I kill my self one cockroache, the AC hole was not seal, the towels very old and with holes, the room didn't have phone and the front desk told us the problem was line broken, nobody clean the room in 4 days, one day I went to Havana and call back to the Hotel many times in 30 Min and nobody answer me in the Marazul resort front desk, in the restaurant buffet many plates are cold, the food heat don't work, drinks like water or Pop serving warm, just one meat and they served small portions, I had to removed my self the use plates because the are lazy to do it, the last day in this nightmare the lady in the front desk told me that she didn't have not phone line working to call anywhere, I request to speak with the Director Manager and he never ever give me his face, he always sent others, the front desk keep the money change rate fix at .69 cent canadian dollar per CUC, when the bank have .74 cents, when I complain they change to .73, the was robbing me 5 Canadian Dollar every 100 dollar I change to CUC, I have lot of pictures that prove what I said, if anybody would like to see it just email me, this Vacation time was huge NIGHTMARE

I was at the Villa Bacuranao and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a off-resort experience. While the hotel is modest and offers only the basics, it's main advantage is proximity to Havana (15.8 km from hotel to El Capitolio according to Google maps). I rode on a local bus for something like 10 cents per ride, but there is a shuttle every 30 min for 5$ and your ticket is good for the whole day. The ambiance at the hotel is great, the locals and tourists alike enjoy the swimming pool and bar, there is great music and it is easy to make friends. NOTE: if you're looking for comfort, this place may be a bit of a challenge for you. Food is not greatest, beds are not the most comfortable, on occasion there is no hot water, lol. I didn't mind any of that. There is great food to be found nearby for cheap, there is also a convenience store where you can stock up on some basic stuff like water, alcohol, dry food, some cosmetic products etc. Anyway, I enjoyed it so much I am planing to go back very soon. I stayed in this resort.for 1 week in Janurary.it was my worst stay i had in my life.The elevator was broken every other day. Food was terrible . dinner was the same reheated food we had for lunch.thr hotel was dirty and tge would never clean it. Puddles and water floods all over the resort that was never mopped.Security let some girls in to our hotel .they went to a clients room and stole phone and other western products. AND more problems i will save to tell the vacation package company to make a serious claim. IF you wanna visit havana get a casa particular instead of EVER STAYING HERE!.

This was our 9th trip to Cuba, and the Atlantico Hotel is a 60 year old hotel that is showing its age. The pool should be emptied and repainted it is stained and faded. There are three or four dogs which wander around the hotel lobby and pool area, we happened to see two different dogs urinate against flower pots in the smoking area just off of the lobby. On the plus side there is hot water, but conversely no real water pressure, and if you happen to be in the shower and some one flushes the toilet look out! The staff is friendly and helpful, the lively entertainment staff do a good job to engage the guests in various games and if you participate, you might win a bottle or two of Cuban rum as my wife did. In the dining room, which is buffet style the food is bland, most of the vegetables like mashed potatoes, and cauliflower are cold. The pasta is served with a thin tasteless sauce. In two weeks we never saw a slice of bacon. There is butter available, but only at breakfast, with none at lunch or dinner in spite of lots of bread. No pepper at any meal and no red wine, the only wine is a not very good white. On Christmas Eve, the kitchen staff stepped up to the plate and had a fabulous spread ready for the quests, with an amazing display of pastries and breads, with roasted turkey, but no stuffing nor was there any gravy. The beach is lovely with plenty of beach lounge chairs available with umbrellas. Bring bug spray because there are lots of sand fleas to bite your legs and arms, plus a few tiny mosquitoes to taste your flesh.

Well it’s very old dated and falling apart the food is bad . But there was rice and beans and chicken every meal. No spaghetti bar, no alacart restaurant. The swimming pool is brutal smells like sewage at the pool and snack bar that never had any food, the main bar or only bar in the lobby had terrible service and no mixed drinks. The front desk people were friendly. And helpful. Virtually no entertainment, mostly Cubans staying at this resort with children. fantastic beach. Free shuttle to town, elevators worked a few days no bell hop. It was a very cheap vacation. We love Cuba would not stay at this resort again.

We had a great time in Habana and at Hotel Atlantico. The hotel isn't anything fancy but you can expect a 5 star hotel when you pay for 3. We really enjoy the beach front , that was probably the best part of the hotel. Some of the live music was very good . Overall we got what we pay for.

The Melia Habana has a great pool, beautiful lobby bar, great restaurants and an amazing cigar store. There is an excellent Café which serves delicious ice cream, offering a variety of flavours. If you wish to eat out, the Concierge will give recommendations, book the reservations and arrange for taxi service. There is a bus providing free transportation to Old Havana several times a day. Comfortable beds, great service and friendly staff. I recommend this hotel when staying in Havana. .

Very elegant hotel, superbly maintained, with a great pool, fitness centre, bar, restaurant and cigar store. The staff were very enthusiastic and gifted in serving our needs such as making reservations at restaurants in Havana and arranging excursions.
