Will return but won’t take the Preferred package as it wasn’t worth it. The Beach is amazing but people with mobility issues will struggle to get in and out of sea due to steep sandbank. Pools weren’t very clean and didn’t pass my sniff test (they didn’t smell like chlorine). The World Buffet had amazing food but atmosphere temp was too hot. No A/C nor ceiling fans. Stifling hot inside with ovens and grills going.

FOOD IS SECOND TO NONE! every single day , consistent, huge selections, meats, pastas, You name it!, Drinks top branded!, exceeded expectations!, Beach was incredible, NO SEAWEED!, private type bay beach, resort super clean, rooms AC were amazing, Casino was incredible, I would recommend this place to anyone!!!!

We had an amazing stay at this resort! The property is beautiful, clean, and very well maintained. The room was comfortable, and housekeeping did a fantastic job every day. The beach and pools were gorgeous, with plenty of loungers and crystal-clear water that made it easy to relax for hours. The entertainment team kept the atmosphere fun without being overwhelming, and there were lots of activities available throughout the day. We left feeling refreshed and already talking about our next visit. We would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxing, beautiful, and worry-free getaway. The only issue we had was the internet disconnection. It lasted for a couple of days and lots of guests pointed this issue out.

Clean rooms, fantastic food and amazing staff everywhere. Unfortunately did not get to go in the ocean because of jellyfish, but at least we could walk the beach because there was no smelly seaweed. If you are not obsessed with the beach, I would highly recommend. The pool and activities were a lot of fun. We upgraded to adult side (Bouganville) which I think really made a difference, as the family side was quite busy.

We truly had the best time there. Not only is the country beautiful, the nearby excursions (MonkeyLand and Saona Island), as well as the friendly staff too. We were 4 friends celebrating a birthday. It's so much fun and there's so many things to do in and out of the resort. The à-la-carte restaurants and buffet food is made with love. The rooms were always clean. The staff doesn't expect or force you to tip. The front desk and bell-mans are always available, smiley and friendly. Every staff member was happy to see us every day. A HUGE thank you to Angel from the beach restaurant for being the sweetest, funniest and kindest person. Luis A., Luis B. and Yismeily Are THE best entertainers, they work so hard and are super fun to dance with. The bartenders, especially Christian, Alberto and the bartender at the pool, are amazing and make the best drinks (with and without alcohol). Nathaniel and Enmanuel, although quite shy due to the language barrier, were extremely nice waiters and they're kindness didn't go unnoticed. If we could remember everyone's names, the list would be super long!! The talent at the night shows was unreal. The overall cleanliness of the resort was comforting. It's also so easy to make friends all around.

Once again we had great 9 days at this beautiful place ! The ocean , food , hotel layout , rooms , drinks , all great ! Trip was smooth from begging to the end ! I’d just give low rating on the service at lobby bar and beach bar . There is no service , if you want drinks you need to get it yourself ! We also had very unpleasant excursion to Saona Island , organized by hotel staff Francisco . That was more like nightmare than pleasant day trip .

I love this resort as my now number one resort and I have been to many. Cleanliness. Good food. Good room. Great service. Friendly staff. Love the entertainment team especially Miriam and the others. I will be coming back definitely next year with my big family. My grandmother is turning 92 next year and she would love the room location we stayed at close to the lobby. Think it’s building 52. Rooms 52114 and room 52115. But will need more rooms for more family members. Looking forward to coming back and seeing the people and enjoying this beautiful resort. Thank you

Beautiful, clean and elegant…this resort employs people who really care about your vacation experience. The beds are comfortable, the rooms spacious and clean. Wide variety of restaurants to choose from depending on your mood…24 hour coffee shop for drinks and snacks too! Everywhere you looked, staff were busy maintaining the beautiful grounds or power washing the walkways. Lots of entertainment if you want it or quiet spaces if not. Live music at the lobby bar every night if you wanted to have a nightcap. Lots to do for the kiddies as well, water play area and different planned activities nightly…something for everyone!

The hotel was nice and the food was good The room service was pretty bad they encourage you to use the hotel app which didn't work and when I told them it didn't work they were rude about it insisting that it worked Some of the employees were pretty rude and they would forget things when you order room service The beach and the pool was very nice My wife got a massage from the spa and the oil they used gave her a bad rash so we stayed in the room the last day and a half Overall we had a good time but probably won't go back

While I had a great time spending the week with family and friends, several aspects of this resort left me disappointed. One challenge was the language barrier, as very few staff members spoke English fluently. That said, the staff were always kind and genuinely tried their best to understand and assist, which I appreciated. In hindsight, I probably should have brushed up on some Spanish before travelling. The rooms were clean, but they felt very outdated and could definitely use renovations. Storage space was limited, with very little drawer space for clothing, and several drawers were difficult to open and close. Another major issue was the lack of hot water, which made showering uncomfortable throughout the stay. The food was average and not particularly memorable, and the entertainment team did not seem very engaging or interactive with guests. My biggest disappointment, however, was the beach and ocean. The water was murky and not inviting, likely due to a nearby river flowing into the area. Unfortunately, I had to pay for an excursion elsewhere just to enjoy clearer saltwater and a better beach experience. Overall, although I still enjoyed my vacation because of the people I was with, this is not a resort I would personally recommend, nor would I choose to return to it in the future.

Bahia Principe La Romana is a beautiful resort overall, especially the grounds — they are absolutely stunning and very well maintained. The rooms are nice at first glance, but once you spend some time in them you can definitely tell they are dated and there are quite a few imperfections. The food was good with lots of variety and plenty of options to choose from, although I was hoping for more authentic Dominican food during the stay. One of the biggest disappointments for me was the ocean. I had done a lot of research beforehand and kept hearing that La Romana had some of the best ocean views and water in the Dominican Republic, but that honestly wasn’t my experience. If I return to the DR, I would probably stay closer to Punta Cana instead. Another thing worth mentioning is that there were communication barriers at times since many of the workers didn’t speak much English. Everyone was friendly, but it occasionally made things difficult. Overall, we still had a good trip thanks to the beautiful property and solid food options, but there are definitely some areas that could be improved.

My wife and I had a great two week trip to Bahia Principe La Romana. Everything was amazing and our agent Jennifer Brown made sure it was easy and worry free . The food and service was outstanding all around. My only issue was the beach water is not clear like Punta Cana it is murky due to a nearby river flowing into the ocean. The beach was great for walking and just relaxing . It was my second visit to this resort and we really enjoyed our holiday.

I thought the hotel was very clean and the staff were very friendly, kind and dedicated to the well being of how their guests were. The entertainment staff were 10/10, with their enthusiasm, excitement and dedication to make people laugh, play silly games and have the best vacation. As with many reviews the beach area was a huge disappointment and the water was murky. The hotel rooms could use some upgrading but then again, youre only in them to sleep, shower, get ready for the day/night and baddabing baddaboom. I felt the entertainment pool area was great but I do think the bar over by the tiny ankle deep pool is silly because that area has very little people and with those who don't want to swim were regularly seen walking over to that bar for a drink. If the swim up bar had bar area at the back so that people could walk up to it for a drink I think that would be great but overall the drinks were cold, the sun was hot and we had the best vacation. The entertainment pool was also great for people watching. There are a lot of characters out there lol. We met some really great people from near our home town which also made it fantastic.

Very clean, staff very friendly. Pools well maintained, beach area cleaned morning. Room was good, fridge leaked but worked. Disappointing part was we trouble booking restaurants, all booked. Unable to book in advance but when we tried booking when we arrived they were all full. Manager got involved and got us into the 3 on our part of the resort.

We booked this resort after scanning through dozens of reviews on various places in DR. We were intrigued by the saltwater infinity pools and the fact that you could jump directly into the ocean a mere few steps from the pools. The resort is small and compact. Everything is a few minutes walk from your room. Rooms were nice, beds comfy. No hassles to find spots in the shade when the hot April sun was a bit too intense. Buffets were well stocked with fresh fruit, hot and cold choices of various meats, fish, salads and desserts. The America Food truck was open daily with typical food truck snacks and fries. The reception staff go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. I would recommend this resort to anyone wanting a quiet adult only vacation this is the place! Our first time to Dominican Republic. Loved this place!!

This resort was just the right size for us. It was extremely clean and staff were very friendly. The rooms could stand to be modernized but for the amount of time spent in a room, they were good. The food was great and we had no issues reserving the a la cartes. I would return to this resort.

Everything at the hotel was great except the ocean water was very murky. The water was not clear. We swam for the first 3 days in the ocean even though the water was very cloudy. Then, a river nearby dumped very brown water into the ocean and the water was even darker. This was very disappointing. Also, there was jelly fish on the beach and several guests got stung badly.

We went here in April 2026, and found it was close to perfect for our needs. this resort is not the biggest or the the best, but at the price point it was perfect for us, meaning it was large enough and laid back enough to meet our desires everyday. If we wanted the beach party crowd we could find it, if we wanted a very quiet pool area we could find it. If we wanted very good food we could get it in a la carts restaurants , if buffet was enough for us we found it better than most. There was enough of an entertainment area without being an all night party. Staff was ALL very polite and professional. We did know ahead of time that the beach wasn't the best in D.R. as the water isn't the clearest, but there was plenty of shade areas at any point all day and everything on the beach was clean and tidy.

Very nice green areas, nice pools and clean, very clean hotel all around, entertainment was very good, food was amazing, all the staff members were great. I will definitely recommend this hotel. Me and my wife had a great time.

The hotel was very enjoyable. There was easy and convenient access to all amenities. Landscaping was beautiful, and the amount of care was obvious. There was a variety of eating/dining options and easy and tasty snack options.

The resort itself is very beautiful and clean. The pools were always clean and inviting. Our room was also very lovely. our problems begin with a severe sickness after eating at the Portofino restaurant. I had shrimp on my Caesar salad and it was very ill the next day.

Staff were great especially bell boys 10/10. Choice of restaurants, bars, food were plentiful all bookable ahead of arrival but none looked full even when the reservation shows full. Plenty off shade near the beach usually with free loungers but the only downside was murky ocean water due to nearby river outlets.

Great experience. Entertainment was top notch. Caramelo was 100% in everything. Very entertaining, social, engaging, and great energy. He kept the holiday spirit up for everyone. He definitely made the experience a better one.

This is an amazing resort. The staff is friendly and helpful. We had a 2 week stay but unfortunately I ended up in the hospital the second week with a pneumonia. We received calls from the staff to inquire how we were. The food at this place is outstanding, the buffets we overwhelming, we had the option to book for dinner at a couple of restaurants, but never bothered. The rooms are great with large beds and great bathrooms. Robes and slippers, toothbrushes, coffee maker, filled fridge. A great place for a relaxing vacation.

This resort is beautiful. Right on the water. There is no beach, but honestly you don't need one here. 3 large salt water pools, a hot tub and a large fresh water pool makes you not miss the beach. Lots of beach chairs to choose from. The main buffet offers lots of variety, but it needs organization. There is little to no service. It's pretty much self serve for everything. The staff are all so nice and they make an effort to speak English. Many do speak English well. They love it when you try to speak Spanish

I was very impressed with Bahia Principe Grand La Romana. What a well kept clean beautiful resort. From lobby to dining to the rooms! We had hot water every day and internet was better then mine at home, even on the beach most times. I dont swim in the ocean but the beach was clean and nice. Pool was large and always clean. Staff were always friendly and the shows at night were enjoyable.. most importantly though, i ALWAYS felt safe! I did notice cameras outside on some of the paths which help me feel more safe too.. in conclusion i would give this resort a 5/5. I can’t emphasize enough about the quality of the staff and food was always good -Angela

The HM Alma de Bayahibe is a fabulous resort with the friendliest staff! The buffet restaurant offered variety and delicious hot fare every meal, plus the Dominican and Italian à la carte experiences were fantastic! The buffet offers health conscious options and decadent opportunities as well. This resort is not beach front but the man made beach is absolutely beautiful! There are plenty of loungers but if you want or need a palapa be prepared to rise early to reserve it by putting towels on the loungers underneath it. There is a free shuttle service from the resort to the local public beach just a short ride away. At this beach you can rent 2 loungers and an umbrella for approximately $17US. This resort has 4 saltwater pools and a lovely freshwater pool surrounded by shaded beds but again you must rise early to reserve those with a towel. The animation team is lively and works hard to engage guests in various activities so you can choose to participate or not. There is a food truck located on one side of the man made beach offering delicious burgers, wraps, fish & chips, chicken wings and more. On the other side there is a snack bar with a wide variety of food including pizza, chicken, shish kebabs, fruit cups and more. You will not go hungry at this resort!! They offer a bit of entertainment some nights which was quite good but the resort isn’t really set up for this so seating is very limited. Bar service is excellent and all close at 11PM so the nights are generally quite quiet. If you want to party hard this is not the place to go but if you want to relax it is a good choice. The staff are definitely friendly if you remember that you get what you give… speak a little Spanish and ask them how they are… it is obviously appreciated by them. This resort has a few kitties roaming around in the evening but they don’t bother you. We found them to be sweet and friendly. Overall this is a lovely resort with spacious rooms, hot water, gorgeous surroundings, friendly staff and delicious food and drink. You can’t ask for more!

The resort is situated in the well maintained tropical garden. This is the most outstanding feature of the resort. The colonial architecture of buildings naturally fits it. Rooms look dated, but kept clean. The eating areas are a bit tight. Thus it is a good idea to avoid rush times. The beach is nice. Plenty of sunbeds and shady areas. No need to play a reservation game here. Not the same at the pools. While there is less problem finding a sunbed at the bigger pool, the sunbeds/umbrellas at the quiet pool are usually all taken by 7-7:30 Signs against reservation are ignored. The most disappointing thing is the water at the beach. The beach is in a small bay. The water in the bay is not transparent. Zero visibility. Thus no desire to swim. The pull is preferred. I wish our flight were to La Romana. There were no such flights from our town. The flight to Punta Cana resulted in the long transfer from/to the airport

As a older couple with limited mobility we requested and got a centrally located room making our stay top quality. Great food. Two pools, one for the "party people" and the other a lovely quiet pool. Both with swim up bars and round pool waitress service. Room was lovely and the staff were friendly and efficient. Overall a great holiday.

We booked an Oceanfront Superior room& had to relocate due to a weird sewer smell. Our new room was fine& had great views. Resort is well appointed, nice lobby & great service in all areas. The do require additional servers in the lobby during the evening we would wait for a long time, then eventually go to bar to get our own beverages. The Caribbean Water at this resort is not Blue clear water it is murky brown & full of jellyfish both in water & on the shoreline, due to the nearby river flowing in, shoreline has a wide deep shelf upon entry, so no swimming here. We had to walk to the end of the far Bay to find a small swimmable area at Corale Beach. No service on Beach, unless in Privilege , but beach bar was close by& provided a good service. Pool is large, loud, but is clean. Lots of loungers to use on the wide beach sitting area. Rooms were clean, shower/bath dated with low water pressure & only lukewarm water throughout the 10 days. Food is very good, in all areas, the inclusive Red& White Wine offered was from Spain, it was poor quality, of any wines offered at an all inclusive. We would not return due to the Beach conditions

The resort was nice overall; great pool, nice beach, tons of beach/pool chairs, nice assortment of food/a la carte restaurants. The only issue is that rooms need updating and the gym needs better layout.

After spending many years in Cuba supporting the amazing people with supplies for schools, personal needs and medical supplies it was different to take a vacation for ourselves. We were in Cuba when things shut down earlier in February this year. The experience at Bahia Principe la Romania, from check in to check out, was truly all about us. The food and drinks were wonderful and the staff, from our room attendant to the servers were so tentative. We really felt pampered. Only the beach, not the lounging area that was exotic but the water clarity was not what we are used to. Pool was fabulous! We do realize that DR has it's own issues and appreciate life is happening all around us. Beth McKinley at Trip Central was very informative and helpful booking this vacation for us . We just returned from Dreams La Romana resort and spa (preferred) as a family of 4 with 2 young kids. Positives -nice updated rooms with good storage -public bathrooms were often cleaned -maids did an excellent job tidying/cleaning everyday -easy to get into all the restaurants. We ate at all the sit downs and the buffet and had no food poisoning. -Perferred pool had enough shaded seating but wasn’t plentiful. You could get some chairs by 9am. -beach was beautiful like everyone said -everything was very clean, service was great Negatives Biggest negative for me was the lack of liveliness in the lobby area-entertainment was not connected to the lobby, it was in an open field. Uncovered, so it rained out a few times. No tables. Folding chairs. Dark. Tree roots everywhere so my kids fell a bunch. -Coastal-the Perferred breakfast had huge timing issues. One morning we waited nearly 2 hours for breakfast. 25 mins for someone to bring coffee/water. Another 20 to take our order. Another 50 mins to bring the food (2 fried eggs and smoked salmon , and Dominican breakfast - which were cold when arrived). Then our kids cereal took another 15 mins to come. This was a common occurrence everyday. I would have rather gone to the buffet but my husband wanted to utilize the preferred spaces. -chairs at preferred beach were “reserved-ie towels/items” by 8am. Seating was limited here. Chairs/shade in the regular area seemed short was well. -splash area was totally separate from the rest of the resort. No drink service there. -found a few cockroaches in our room, one of which followed us home in our suitcase, yuck. Honestly an overall great experience but would not come back here. Felt they accepted children but wasn’t as kid centered like the last resort we went to in Nov (iberostar selection suites in Punta cana). Iberostar had its issues but it was cheaper and I loved their covered outdoor entertainment space and their walk up icecream bar. My takeaway is that Dreams is beautiful and classy but best for older kids but that’s just my take having experienced a different type of resort last time which was our first time venturing away from Dreams chain.

This was our second time to this resort in as many years. The plusses: All staff and workers very friendly and helpful, without exception. The resort was clean and rooms well stocked. We are beach people and enjoyed the abundant sandy beach. It was groomed and cleaned daily. There was an abundant supply of lounges and palapas, both on the beach and around the pool. We had tried the a la carte dining on previous trip but stuck with the buffet restaurant this time around. The food was quite varied and plentiful. In the one week we were there we probably sampled only 25% of offerings. There were many families with toddlers the week we were there. Both outdoor and indoor and indoor play areas were available. Live music was provided evenings in the main building as well as outside the buffet restaurant. I would have liked the volume turned down a bit. But that's just me. The only drawback for us was with our tour provider who only flew into Punta Cana, making for a 1hr bus ride to the resort. We enjoyed our week in the sun. Will likely return.

We had a great time the resort was wonderful. Call outs to Luis at the front desk, got us the best room ever, Marianeili at the beach bar, such a kind amazing person, Nayeli at the beach bar, such a sweetheart. Patricia at the main lobby bar, awesome waitress, Fernando at the Don Pablo, great waiter. All of the cleaning staff, our room was spotless and we got turndown service every night. Overall excellent experience, excellent staff.

What did I like? It is a beautiful Resort with multiple pools and the beach/ocean all in a surprisingly compact area. I did not play this trip but the golf course and its facilities look amazing! The rooms are very nice and clean and the housekeeping staff are all sweethearts. The a la carte restaurants are fantastic. Outstanding food with great service. At night, the lobby area is a fabulous gathering area for everyone. I don't know if it was the booze or the bartenders but the mixed drinks/frozen drinks/cocktails were the best I have ever tasted in my life! They were SO good! What did I NOT like? Air Transat flies into Punta Cana. Why? La Romana has an airport! If I had known this ahead of time, I never would have booked the trip. We had a 1.5 hour bus ride from the airport to the resort (and then back again). The bus driver never went slower than 130 kph and people were KILLED on that shuttle the day after we arrived! The male staff were great. The female staff were also with the very noticeable exception of those working in the bars and restaurants. To say they were indifferent would be an understatement. To say they really don't give a rats behind if you ever see your drinks would be closer the the truth. No smiles. No interaction. Their attitudes were "What the Hell do you want?" and "Why the Hell are you bothering me right now?" All with a miserable look on their faces. The buffet was fine but it seemed like it was the same food every time. A limited selection. There had to be 400 people in the lobby area for karaoke night. Everyone was having a really great time. And then we were suddenly stopped so that some performers could put on some crappy show. Within minutes, the lobby was empty. What a stupid move! Verdict Eliminate the bus trip and put a smile on the female servers and this place is close to Heaven.

Beautiful Grounds, Small room, we had partial ocean view room. Front desk staff was nice and activation team was great! All other staff need to up the game! The most unfriendly ive met in the DR, No service in the buffet, its more like a cafeteria help yourself to get drinks of any sort. I guess the good thing is you save on tips! No bottled drinks in your room at all accept water. The cleaning staff were great and attentive. The two ala cartes were ok, For me it was tricky as I have a shell fish allergy. The pools were clean! It looked like a full house last week when we arrived, however there is not enough seating at all for everyone! Have to set an alarm for 530 am to get a lounger anywhere. The seatinng in the lobby bar maybe holds 20 people of a couple hundred there, the pool bar doesnt hold that much more. The music at sunset was great! The sunsets are stunning.

Il y a eu un problème avec le lit cette nuit-là, mais le lendemain, nous avons été relogés dans une autre chambre en bon état et répondant à nos besoins. (Excellent service de la réceptionniste Joneisy Sarmiento). La chambre était très spacieuse et bien entretenue, le lit confortable et un mini-frigo était également à disposition. Le buffet était excellent et le service impeccable. La variété et la qualité des plats étaient satisfaisantes pour un petit complexe hôtelier. Les jardins étaient bien entretenus et propres, et les belles piscines, propres et donnant sur l'océan, étaient accessibles tous les jours. L'accès à l'océan pour la plongée avec tuba ou en bouteille se fait par une échelle qui, soit dit en passant, a été réparée (deuxième marche). Nous avons aperçu une tortue de mer, une baleine et d'autres magnifiques créatures marines. Le food truck n'a été ouvert qu'une seule journée, car il a été remplacé par un nouveau. Pendant ce temps, il était possible de se restaurer au bar. La nourriture était bonne et de qualité. (Hamburgers, frites, rondelles d'oignon, ailes de poulet, nachos au fromage, etc.) Le service au bar était moyen, tout comme la qualité des bières et des autres boissons. Pour des bières ou des alcools plus raffinés (Jack Daniels, Baileys, bières en canette ou en bouteille), un supplément était demandé. Dans l'ensemble, nos vacances ont été excellentes et nous comptons bien retourner dans ce complexe hôtelier pour profiter de tout ce qu'il a à offrir. We were well received on Feb 21, 2026 at approx 23h00 and were assigned our rooms. Issue with the bed that night but the next day we were moved to another room which was in good condition and met our needs. (great service from the reception Joneisy Sarmiento) Room was very spacious and well maintained, bed comfortable, bar fridge also included. Buffet was excellent and good service from the staff. The variety and quality of the food was good for a small resort. The grounds were well maintained and clean, beautiful and clean pools were available everyday overseeing the ocean. Access to the ocean to snorkle or scuba dive is available via a ladder which by the way is repaired (2nd step). We saw a sea turtle, whale and other beautiful sea creatures. The food truck was opened only for one day as it was replaced with a new unit. During this time food was available at the bar area. Food was good and of good quality. (hamburgers, fries, onions rings, chicken wings and nachos with cheese etc.) Bar service was mediocre so was the quality of the beer and drinks. If you wanted higher end beer or alcool (Jack Daniels, Baileys or canned or bottle beer) a fee was required on your part. Overall, our vacation was great and we do plan to return to the resort to enjoy what they have to offer.

The resort was great we upgraded to the bouganville which was also amazing! Only thing I would change is the air Canada rep falsely advertising excursions but other than that all and all a great experience from day one booking right till getting home

The resort is beautiful and the size is perfect. You would never know the place was at full capacity. Lots of space at the beach and the best part is that you could enjoy the beach at night as its a cove with only Bahia resorts and residences. The food was good with lots of great veggie options too. Our group of six left rejuvenated and happy with our choice. The only negative would be that the water wasn't clear. Not a deal breaker for us.

We had a perfect 1 week stay at this resort and the only regret was that it wasn’t long enough! Clean rooms, friendly staff, great food and variety of food.Grounds are well cared for and areas (walkways etc) are washed down every night Waiting for shuttle to airport was a little scary. Needed to check out before check-out time to shuttle over to the Grand where you are transported to airport. Also prepare snack because restaurant at the grand is not open that early.

Bouganville is a lush and beautiful resort. But the best of the resort are the people! From the executives to the everyday staff…always helpful and genuinely interested in making our stay memorable. Thank you. The animation team are terrific! Thank you Anna, Nicky, Marielys, Maria, Caramelo, Francis, Jose for your joyful enthusiasm, smiles, fun and especially taking the time to dance with those of us who are ‘loco for bachata ?’! And welcome to Christian! Thank you Bouganville for a terrific 2 weeks! This was our 2nd time at Bouganville…and we’d been at La Romana 10 years ago. I’m sure we will be back!

The specialty restaurants need total improvements. No shows in the main theatre. Very large grounds, although kept vey well, sometime it is confusing. Food in common restaurants very well. No ocean view from any building, due to low rise styles. The beach very well situated and clean, with many trees. Too far from the airport, and not close to any city.

The hotel room was very spacious and clean. The fridge was regularly stocked and towels replenished. The grounds were well kept. The buffet was very good and there was a nice variety of Ala Cartes that we could book pre-trip.

The place is very luxurious from beginning to end. The location on south shore is one of the best things about it. A great beach area. The buffet is quite good but beware that all buffets suffer the same hum-drum-ness. The ala carte restaurants are tremendous but book as soon as you can, they get booked up.

Everyone had a good time and enjoyed the resort. The beach is fantastic and the staff are welcoming and very friendly. It was worth the extra money to enjoy the amenities of the Preferred Club. We wouldn’t hesitate to return.

This resort was fantastic! The staff were very friendly and helpful. You were made to feel special from the moment we arrived until we departed. Our room was beautiful. We had a private patio and swim up pool. The food was amazing. We visited the Japanese restaurant twice for the hibachi dinner which was excellent. The buffet had lots of variety along with fresh fish and salads. We were booked in the Preferred Club which gave you access to a lovely snack area. There also was a cafe offering cappuccinos, espresso and fresh desserts and pastries. The only negative I can mention is the Preferred Club beach which was too small for the amount of lounge chairs and people, making it very crowded. The pool area was very nice and less people so we tended to hang there instead.

Day 1. We missed the first day as our flight was 3 hours 45 min late from Halifax. The airport was a complete mess. It seemed as though the ground crew were having fun or completely horrible at their job. The entire plane had to search for luggage. One piece of mine was on the MINNEAPOLIS belt. The other was on the PARIS belt. Over 90 minutes to search for bags. Our agent at the airport then asked why we kept him waiting????? Wouldn't the Air Transat Rep already know our flight was late? Then another 15 min or so to find our drive. We ended up getting to the hotel at 7pm. So we lost our first day. One passenger mentioned a 400$ refund each because the delay was over 3 hours. I asked the AT rep at the airport. He said to ask our rep at the resort in the morning. Couldnt find them the next day. So we went on the AT app and filed our "more than 3 hours delay" request. The app told us we were past the 48 hour window....which I didnt understand as i filed it at 7:45 am and our flight left at 1045... so i was in the 48 hour window by 3 hours) Still waiting to hear back from Air Transat. Which I'm sure will be a nightmare. Day 2-10. This resort is gorgeous! The buffet was amazing. Zero complaints about anything to do with food. We spent the first day at the pool as the beach had no available chairs. Pool was nice. Clean, great shade when needed. Beach buffet was great! We had gorgeous lunches... again, no complaints about food. We signed up for an excursion. (CATALINA BEACH) Snorkeling, beach time, a meal, then home. We DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! The boat ride to the Snorkeling area was horrible! Open water, alot of waves, and the Captain hit every one! If you have a bad back, do not take this trip. 45 minutes of pounding the waves to get to the Snorkeling area. Upon arrival, we were to snorkel for 1 hour. I was the last one to get off the boat and folks were getting back on. Not even ten minutes in the water. Zero coral! Zero fish! Zero anything to see! We got to the beach. Disappointed as the beach was dirty, chairs were broken( 75% of them). The bathrooms were completely disgusting! Doors didn't lock. The water in the toilets looked and smelled like feces, the water from the taps to wash your hands was brown and smelled horrible. This was also to be an "all inclusive " excursion, but the Bartender wanted 10$US for 1 beer. He said "when we eat lunch, the beer will be free." That was a 3 hour wait for lunch. The water on the bar to drink was free. But the cups were dirty, and the water was in a very dirty Gatorade jug. The beach was not nice at all. We were told we could walk a ways down to another beach. When we got there, signs and security said it was private and we couldn't stay. That looked like a nicer beach. The food was OK. Then another hour's wait to board the boat to go back to the resort. 45 minutes hitting every wave again. That day, besides missing our first day, was a bad day. We found a spot on the resorts beach that was a bit nicer. And spent most of our days there. The staff are amazing! Oscar (our waiter in the Buffett) was super friendly, and went above and beyond. Cappuccino machine was in the dining room for people to get their own, but Oscar brought them to us. Same with the mimosas. Folks could pour their own, but Oscar wasn't having it. Every meal we sat in his section. During his days off, the room actually felt different. He has very good energy, and always brought smiles and laughs to everyone he interacted with. Our Chambermaid was great! The rooms were spotless, the bed was comfortable, and anything we needed was taken care of. We didn't take in many shows at night. The ones we did were OK. They day we left was a long day. We had to be out of our rooms at 6am to meet our driver for 7.our flight home was uneventful and even with a snowstorm, Air Transat was the ONLY FLIGHT TO TAKE OFF FROM HALIFAX(to the DR) and the only flight to land that day (our flight). So instead of a10 day vacation, we had only 8. The only "cons", besides losing a full day and the excursion, was the pool entertainment. Very loud and hard to understand. The music was deafening! There is only one pool so you can't get away from it. And the smokers. They had a designated area outside the lobby for smokers. That was nice and we could enjoy ourselves in the beautiful lobby . They should have no smoking at the pool. Like the BP in Jamaica. That was a welcomed treat to not have to take in 2nd hand smoke. We thought at first it was no smoking as there were no ashtrays.. but I guess we were wrong. We won't go here again. Not because of anything wrong with the resort, our ALL INCLUSIVE days are now behind us. Our future travel will be to Europe UK etc

This hotel was everything we could imagine. The property is beautiful and well maintained. The staff and service were exceptional. My wife is in a wheelchair and this is one of the most accessible resorts we have been to.

Great staff, clean grounds, rooms were good. Nothing to complain about ? Not the place for singles. Lots of hot water. At times chairs were a bit of a challenge to find. Beach was fine sadly too many jelly fish in the water.

This resort explefies a 5 star experience; with its attention to detail in all services provided. From the gourmet food, and the diversity of the menu, to the amazing waiting staff, pool entertainment staff, and helpful front desk staff. The landscape, rooms, pools, beach and bars were all super clean and picturesque.

We love this resort, we have been there 3 times just returned this past week and plan to go back next January and extending our stay to 10 days or 2 weeks. It's a beautiful boutique style resort, small everything close is close by, the rooms, restaurants, two pools and beach. The food is amazing at the a la cartes and buffet with lots of choice and all delicious. It's well kept up and staff are constantly cleaning around the resort. The ocean isn't crystal clear but don't let deter you it's very calm as it's in a bay, no big waves or undertow. We love it there.

Hotel was very clean in a well gated location which made me feel very safe. Food was fantastic! Beach and pool areas were awesome. Staff were very courteous, helpful and friendly. Night shows were good but a couple seemed a bit unorganized. Could be fixed with better communication ie location and content

The facility is very nice. Friendly staff, very clean and overall well maintained. The rooms are clean although they have started to look a little tired. I was a little irked over the lack of hot water. After a five minute wait, the best I could get was tepid. Nice to get home and have a hot shower. Beach and pool area were great. The self serve restaurant was good. Lots of selection. Try and stay away from the standard house wine. It’s brutal. The à la carte restaurants were very good. If you’re a golfer the PGA course is excellent.

The staff are accommodating and pleasant. The buffet offers a large selection as well delicious food. The coffee machine offers fancy coffee drinks like cappuccino, The nightly entertainment was good. All 3 al carte restaurants were amazing, many choices served by pleasant staff. The grounds were well manicured. The facility is close to the beach. The premise is clean. It’s a bit dated and can use a facelift.

The resort is simple, clean and the staff are attentive and helpful. The grounds and rooms are well maintained as well as the pool and beach areas. We have come to this resort twice now just for it's simplicity. The food selection is good, we never had a concern and the freshness and using local products is cool.

We have got back after spending 9 days at Secrets La Romana. This is a big hotel which is connected with Dreams. The hotel and its staff are first rate and the food in the various restaurants was excellent along with the buffet. We had the preferred status which gave access to a private lounge with excellent bar staff and an all day buffets and private check in. Yes I would go back to this resort

We stayed as Preferred guests. Definitely worth it to stay under the palapas in the preferred beach area. Having a butler to meet all your needs is a bonus as well. The beach is 10/10. White sand and clear calm water. The food was very good. Loved the idea of no reservation needed for restaurants. The buffet had a lot of choices. The beef was a bit tough but otherwise all meals well prepared and presented. Quite a few bars with lots of drink choices. Overall definitely recommend this resort over many others I stayed at in Punta Cana.

We just got back and have no complaints. Location, food, pools were all good. Grounds were very clean and room was great. Another set of stairs or a slide into the ocean would be great. Especially a slide.

Loved this hotel… it was our second visit there. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was amazing. Golf was a bit expensive but our golfers enjoyed the course. Check in was terrible! It was a full hour and a half before we were checked in and there were only 6 people on our shuttle. Spent a lot of time at the quiet pool which was perfect for our group. We learned after we arrived there that we could have booked our a La carte restaurants before we left home. That would have been helpful to know! There was NO WestJet rep available at any time for us. We had to figure out getting to airport on our own with some help from the staff at guest experience.

The hotel was clean, well maintained and kept. The staff work super hard, they are very friendly and always willing to help. There was a decent amount of food options if you don’t have dietary restrictions (e.g., meat or dairy). Because I have a meat and dairy allergy the food was very challenging for me. Although they had options for me to eat they did not separate veggie options from the meat or dairy products. This resulted in tongs being used in the dairy and meat products. Due to my allergies I had to avoid most dishes on the menu. When the chefs were available they would prepare something special for me in the kitchen which I was always grateful for. With so many allergies around it would be safer to separate certain products with the correct labels for guests.

Although such a massive compound, after a day it’s really easy to get around with the supplied golf cart. The food is incredible at all restaurants. By far the best food we have had anywhere. The beach is on the smaller side but it’s clear and calm. Exactly what we wanted. We rode once at the Equestrian centre and visited twice more. U can tell this place cares for their horses which was sooo important to us. My one suggestion would be to figure out a bracelet system for all inclusive as waiting to sign ur bill only to have it credited to ur room was tiresome. U also have to remember ur ID card on u at all times. Oh! The one thing I thought a bit nickel and dime is ur drinks in ur fridge. If u use any of it ur are charged. We went all inclusive but if I wanted a coke or alcohol I had to drive the golf cart to the bar or pay for the drink from our room fridge. This is a pricey all inclusive so I thought charging for ur room drinks petty. All in all u can’t go wrong at this resort. We usually have to use caution on food in Dominican but not here? We would absolutely return. Driving and seeing all the grounds and beautiful homes was a bonus. The staff goes above and beyond to accommodate what ever u want!!

This was my first solo trip and this location was perfect. I was looking for a nice quiet and relaxing vacation and Bouganville checked all these boxes. Smaller resort, not to busy. Highly recommend for someone looking a chill vacation, not much of a night life. This is the oldest of the Bahia's on the island so it doe not have the best beach but it is well maintained. For breakfast I recommend Popping over to the La Romana side for the buffet as it is bigger and had more options. But for lunch and dinner there are 2 buffets the Bouganville side the one in the Lobby being the larger of the 2.

Resort had all the amenities that a family would enjoy. Pool was huge and my granddaughters and their father were in the pool everyday, with a poolside bar for drinks. Beach waters were a little difficult to enter as there were small pebbles and then dips down about 2 feet, which made it a little difficult to walk back to shore. Water shoes recommended. Our rooms were side by side, and room was large, comfortable beds. Food too much to select from that would satisfy any pallet. Nightly entertainment was awesome!!!!

The grounds were so peaceful. I loved my morning walk through the grounds and the big walkways, lined with palm trees on either side. I especially loved walking the grounds at night where all the palm trees were lit up from the bottom. The lobby was beautiful and had plentiful amount of tables and chairs where you could sit and watch the entertainment or play a game of cards with a drink on hand. The public rest rooms were always maintained and clean. The dining rooms and the buffet were always clean, cleanliness was top priority here, as soon as a guest left the table it was cleaned immediately. The pool was huge and plenty of space to find a chairs and room to swim. There was entertainment all day at the pool, and if you wanted to leave the pool there was a clean sandy beach with volleyball, soccer and plenty of chairs under the palm tree umbrellas. The beach is a little murky because of the sand that is always moving, but the water is clear so don't be fooled. It drops off quickly and goes down to 3' right away. Most of the time we spent either walking the beach or at the pool, not too much time in the ocean. The good thing about this beach is that it is in a bay and there are few waves and was mostly calm.

We really liked so much about this resort. The only problem was that our kids both got sick (presumably food poisoning) on day three, then I got sick (again assumed food poisoning) on day five. So all of that put a big damper on our vacation and we had to miss all of our excursions.

There was nothing to want for. The food was fantastic, fresh, and the drinks were plentiful. The specialty restaurants were outstanding. The staff were very friendly and attentive. One of my best vacations.

Employees were everywhere, ensuring that everything was clean. Before entering any restaurant, guests were given hand sanitizer. The beach sand was white and the water turquoise. In the deeper water, they had sunk a line of large concrete reef balls, used to grow coral and attract fish. Every day that I snorkelled, I noticed different fish. One is able to walk a long stretch of beach, but every beach has a hotel established on the property. If you don't have a tolerance for loud music, played until 11, be sure to ask for a quiet room. I particularly like the Italian restaurant. The service was excellent, and the food was very good.

The hotel buildings and landscaping are quite lovely. The food was very good especially the French gournet restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was large and quite comfortable. The pools were clean and picturesque. Most days there were open seats at the pools in the morning but only a few later in the day. The beach was very nice but the water was cloudy due to the nearby river flow so not great for snorkelling unless you were at the east end of the bay where the water was clearer. There were lots of varied fish there although the bottom was not particularly pretty. Overall, we had a very nice vacation and would definitely consider returning again. Here are a couple of points that would have made our vacation even better: 1. Housekeeping was occasionally inconsistent. The room was not cleaned on one day and cleaned twice on another day. 2. The restaurants had small signs in English and Spanish to identify the foods. The problem was that, quite often, they were not indicating the correct food where they were placed or indicated two things but only one was at that location. Some things had no sign at all. It would help if this was more consistent and accurate. 3. The special restaurant reservations were available to people who knew before the start of the vacation so some restaurants were fully booked for the week when we arrived. Those who did not know about the early booking were left with limited choices. It would be fairer if the booking was only available to people starting when they check-in physically to the hotel.

My boyfriend and I had never been to the Dominican Republic. We had the most unbelievable experience at the Bahia Principe. The staff are unbelievable, the rooms and resort spotless and the food was incredible. Daily entertainment pool side and nightly entertainment make this the perfect resort.

From the moment we stepped into the lobby, the atmosphere felt luxurious. The food was exceptional, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. While the beach could have been a bit clearer, overall it was a fantastic trip, and we would absolutely return.

Great location after a 80 minute ride from Punta Cana airport. Beautiful property, everything close by. Helpful and friendly staff, Buffet and the A La Carte restaurants were also very good. Pool by the beach was a hit with the swim up bar. The only drawback was the sea…(unfortunately a river runs into the bay and turns the water murky.) More like a lake. Of All in all, I would recommend this hotel, but not for the sea. Just being honest… Bill MacIntyre .

We were extremely happy with our choice for this resort. The staff was nice and helpful, the room was very clean and elegant, entertainment was fun and diverse, the food at buffet, a la carte and snack bar was amazing...everything in walking distance

The resort was very clean and staff were amazing. The preferred club was well worth the extra . All restaurants were good. The buffet needed to be better as far as choices and the food was usually cold. The beach was lovely and clear water. Pools were great! The rooms were satisfactory.

I loved my stay here. The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean, beautiful amenities and amazing beach! The food was fantastic. Lots of fun activities during the day and the evening too. I can’t wait to come back!

The resort falls far short of 4-star standards. Our "Superior Ocean View" room was starkly minimalist: no coffee maker, an empty mini-fridge, and a pay-per-use safe (watch the final bill—they tried to charge us double). The shower had almost no pressure, with water swinging wildly from scalding to icy. Noise from nearby activities blared past midnight every night, despite the room's prime location steps from the beach and its stunning balcony views. Dining and Bars: A Letdown The buffet was consistently poor, missing items, zero variety, and low-quality food. À la carte restaurants were a step up with attentive service (unlike the nonexistent help at the buffet). Bars were chaotic: endless lines, subpar or unavailable drinks, and exhausted bartenders doing their best under pressure. Beach and Extras The white-sand beach was pleasant overall, mostly seaweed-free but dotted with hidden rocks. Weather was perfect (31°C+ sunshine), but skip the kayak/boat rental; they're rude. The pool was unappealing and poorly maintained. No visible cleaning efforts during the day, and the water appeared cloudy. In summary, beautiful setting marred by subpar facilities, food, and service. Not worth the 4-star price.

This resort is beautiful. It has amazing sunsets, fun activities, and a wonderful beach. However, the staff is not very friendly nor is the clientele. It is Italian, French and Spanish speaking only. The guests are very rude and the staff is not very friendly. The entertainment staff was the best and seems to work all day until 12:30 am. We rented an Oceanfront bungalow, room 1152 the sand flees were everywhere including all over the room. We are covered in bites! The food was not great, buffet food is covered in flies and the tables were always dirty. We usually had to find utensils and napkins and clean off our own table. All though the grounds were really nicely kept and the pools were warm and clean, no sea weed at the ocean, the lack of friendliness and rude guests we would not return to this resort.

We loved the adults only side of the resort. The food has a variety and the rooms were super clean. Would highly recommend. I’m not sure the beach was the best but looked nice. I prefer the pool area anyway. The quiet pool was lovely and the main pool was a lot of fun. Nice resort, bartenders at quiet pool were amazing. Staff on the a la carte were great.

The Lobby is so spacious and open, bar tenders at the lobby bar were fast and super friendly, everyone was always happy and smiling. The buffet is really big with so much variety of food, Radaisy and her crew were so awesome and helpful with our 2 birthday celebrations. Jhongelin was always smiling and waited on us hand and foot never a dirty dish on the table or an empty coffee cup! The swim up bar had the best bartender, Luis Carmona. So happy, smiling, dancing and so fast with everyone's drinks

They are kind and welcoming.staff did their best to make your needs be met.I celebrated my Mom 65th birthday and they staff made a a memorable time especially Radaisy she was so helpful. For our breakfast every morning Jhongelin made sure we have everything and always checking up on us. For the pool bar our bartender was amazing Luis Carmona. He made sure we always have a drink in our hand

We really enjoyed the hotel. Definitely a bonus having the option of the adult side while still being able to enjoy all the amenities across the resort. The staff were great and really took care of our needs.

We have just retuned from Dreams La Romana listed as an almost 5 star hotel from Preferred Club .It is not a 5 star hotel and the Preferred is not worth paying for especially if you are placed across the street in a different building with a noisy street in between the Dreams main resort which is almost a cute village crossed in the middle by a giant pool. Thank you first of all to our butler, a dedicated caring lovely Kiss who has done daily everything in her power to make our stay enjoyable. Thank you also to Maximo who was always there to help us with transportation back and forth to the preferred beach. You rock both. The resort is big enough and spread on a large area leading to a wonderful beach: clean, calm vawes, no seaweed. Communication in the resort is difficult as most people do not entirely understand or speak English or French. The food makes this resort a 3 star unfortunately with cold mushy food, minimal choices and no ice cream in buffets:3 days after returning home :we are still treating ourselves with digestive pills to get through the day. Thank you to animation team who did an amazing job and to our maid Rosa who has done an awesome job also keeping our room clean. We are beach lovers and didn't touch any pools but the sea. Rules in the A la carte restos make no sense especially that it is not a 5 star hotel with no 5 star services: wear sleeves on your shirt for dinner in the preferred patio, wear long pants and no open toe sandals in the French resto.

We loved this hotel. The rooms were clean, staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was good especially in the a la carte restaurants. They had a very fun entertainment team and there was so much to do. Beautiful beach as well.

The resort was beyond our expectations. The food was amazing, the room was bright and comfortable and kept clean every day. The service was top notch. The staff really make you feel welcome. We would definitely like to go again, but not in September, it was over 30 degrees every day.

We’ve been pleasantly surprised by our stay in Dreams Dominicus La Romana! The room was a great find—spacious, with two bathrooms and two floors, which made it extra comfortable. The beach is simply amazing, and having good coffee available anytime was a real treat (Coco Cafe). The resort itself is well-kept and enjoyable. The food is average, but we were never hungry—there’s always something to eat. Overall, it was a happy and relaxing stay, and we’d gladly come back!

The hotel was nice however it was falsely advertised as adults only. There was a portion of the resort which was ‘adults only’ however kids were still accessing the beach where the adults only part was. The main dining area was also shared with families and kids. I requested something nice be done via email, as I was there to celebrate a birthday - nothing was done. The beach wasn’t the greatest either. Having said that the staff there were very nice and always polite. The housekeeping, entertainment staff and over all everyone was absolutely lovely. It’s unfortunate but I would not return.

The resort was beautiful, the staff were very friendly, food was decent. I did know that the resort did not have a beach but I did not realize how much I would miss it. All in all 3.5/5. Not sure I would stay at this resort again

We had great time from beginning to end. One annoying thing was over 1 hour wait in the van to be transported to the hotel. But on the way to the airport everything went smoothly. Hotel is amazing, more than expected, and everything to our taste. We loved beach, restaurants, hotel layout, our room , drinks , service… I would like to give one suggestion, there is huge rush every morning for spots in the shade , since beach in not huge , but it’s deep . We never had chance to get spot under palapa , we didn’t want to get up at 6,7 am and participate in the hunt ! The worst part is that some people that left their towels on the loungers don’t show up all day… Not really sure if hotel staff can do anything about this , but maybe they can offer regular beach umbrellas to us that don’t save spots . I’ve noticed separate areas for “travellers club “ members, Most of the time I haven’t seen more than few spots used, why they can’t adjust it according to guests number and give more space to regular guests? I hope these minor things are fixable, since everything else is just perfect. I am looking forward coming again, with few friends and family members

Very large grounds with many types of buildings and room selection. Few pools in different settings (quiet side, party pool, Super VIP section). Food available in many speciality dinner restauants and 1 big bufet. Wood owen pizza restaurant open 24/7. Drinks great, activities and entertainment all day long, disco bar in the hotel open every day after evening entertainment. Very good value for the price.

We just returned from this hotel. Highly recommended The food specially the buffets were super large and first quality The staff is super friendly and very willing to help The room was clean , the bed large and the fridge was always full with liquor, beer, softdrinks and water. There are 2 pools. One for the party people with games etc and the other pool is quiet and peaceful Amazing hotel,

This resort was very clean. The staff and entertainment crew were amazing!! There was always some sort of activity or game going on, cool dance lessons and fun bingo! Some of our favorite staff members included Genna and Mariano Carmelo from entertainment, Hector and Juan Carlos from the beach snack bar. Would definitely recommend this resort.

The hotel was very nice Everything was so clean everywhere Washrooms and lobby sparking clean The landscaping and grounds were beautiful Only thing was at the some of the la a cartes the air conditioning was not on Very hot ask to turn it up never happened

This was a special trip with just my daughter for some quality time together. We found the resort to be really relaxing and all the amenities allowed me to not worry about anything and to just enjoy my one on one time with her. The staff were quick to help when our air conditioning stopped working. They were happy to answer questions and quick with a smile. Our room was perfect. Bonus was a nesting bird in the palm tree outside our door. Got to see the baby two days before we left. We never left the buffet hungry. Some different items between the daily basic staples were just enough to keep it interesting. We had some great laughs with the staff at the Italian restaurant. Our day trip Catalina Island was amazing. The tour group made sure we were safe and happy. Travelling with a 12 year old can in a foreign country made me a bit nervous but very quickly felt safe and comfortable there. Can't wait to go back. Maybe next time I'll bring my other daughter or husband.
