This resort is a 3-star at best. While it is fairly new, it disappointed in many ways. We are both seasoned travellers in the Caribbean and would say that it did not meet expectations overall. The food quality was basic at the buffet. The a-la-carte restaurants were disappointing as most dishes were sub-par. The beach had no seaweed which was a bonus, however it was not very clean and the ocean water was murky. The pools at the resort had insufficient filtration and looked filthy. The room was basic but very clean. The cleaning staff was efficient but would refill our used towels. The mattress was comfortable. We find it unacceptable for a resort to run out of rum, especially given the status it gives itself. If you are a coffee connoisseur, you may be disappointed with the Miches Cafe. The entertainment was mainly for children as it was targeted to Latin Americans who are often on vacation during this time of year (mid-September). We were pleased to see the resort’s initiative to reduce plastic waste - be prepared to carry your own water bottle and to refill it with the dispensers in the hallway. The Viva staff will undoubtedly chase you to attend their members’ meeting to sell you an upgraded status on your vacation.

Boring... Nobody understood english.. Hard to find something to eat... Food was not so great... Wine was even worse... Will not recommend this resort! There was very little shade by the pool...my shower leaked all over ...

My friend and I booked this resort for our second trip to the Dominican Republic, hoping to explore a new area after a great previous experience. We knew the pool was under renovation, but as neither of us are "pool people," it wasn't an issue. The resort's smaller layout was charming, and we loved the 10-minute walk to the beach, spotting turtles, birds, and fish along the way. The beach itself was lovely, with plenty of lounge chairs, and we especially enjoyed the wood-fired pizzas and diverse drink options at the snack bar. The animation team kept us entertained with a variety of daytime activities on the beach, from darts and Zumba to mixology classes. The food truly exceeded our expectations; we tried all the à la carte restaurants, with "The Blend" being our favorite. The buffet had a wide selection, including a fresh pasta station and an egg station. We found a creative workaround for the lack of a toaster by using the panini press for delicious grilled cheese sandwiches. Our room met our expectations, and we appreciated the eco-friendly touch of a large refillable glass water bottle instead of plastic. This commitment to sustainability was evident throughout the resort, with reusable cups, paper cups, no straws, wooden stir sticks, and large pump bottles for toiletries. The nightly entertainment was a pleasant surprise, featuring engaging dance shows, karaoke, and even a talented magician. Overall, I was very impressed and plan to return to this resort in the future!

I honestly can’t say enough good things about Viva Azteca. This resort was exactly what I needed. From the moment I arrived, I felt a sense of peace and relaxation that stayed with me throughout my entire vacation. The resort itself is absolutely beautiful. It has such a lovely, laid-back atmosphere, and there was something about the whole place that just made it easy to slow down and enjoy being there. I felt peaceful. I felt comfortable. I really felt like I had gotten away from everything for a little while. And the food was fantastic! The buffet had lots of choices, but the à la carte restaurants were the real highlight. I was genuinely impressed by the quality of the meals. We had some wonderful dinners, and each restaurant had something different and delicious to offer. The staff were friendly, the grounds were beautiful, and the overall atmosphere was just wonderful. It wasn't a huge, overwhelming resort, and I really appreciated that. Everything felt manageable and relaxed. If I had to mention one negative, it would be the pool area. There were times when kids and adults were throwing balls across the pool from quite a distance, and unfortunately there wasn't always much consideration for the people around them. If you were trying to quietly relax in the pool, it could be a little frustrating. But honestly? Even that was something I could overlook. There was just so much more to love about this resort. I came home feeling like I had truly had a vacation — not just stayed at a hotel. Viva Azteca gave me exactly what I was looking for: peace, relaxation, beautiful surroundings, wonderful food, and a chance to empty my cup and just enjoy myself. I would absolutely return to Viva Azteca, and I would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, peaceful and relaxing getaway. ❤️?☀️

Viva Miches by Windham is very good. we have no problem for the room, spacious, clean, food, lot of selections, crew are very polite, pools are good, beach calm, no big waves. My wife and I was happy. I will recommend this resort to my friends

Excellent resort better then Punta Cana. Food, Beaches were great. The service was good. The few bad things were the workers were very poor in English. The shows were terrible. But overall excellent resort.

Good hotel, nice beach. The food was very good and the staff are friendly and engaging. Beach lacked a bit of shade. Rooms were not bad, lacked a bit of furniture. Would definately strongly consider returning.

Sent to West Jet still Waiting for reply This is my second time at this Hotel I was there the same time last year and had nothing but praises for the hotel, the service, the rooms, the grounds and the food was great zero complaints other than the lack of shade around the pool. This year was a disaster from the start my wife has mobility problems and can not walk stairs she had both knees replaced so walking is limited, our travel agent explained in our booking that we needed to be some were that has no stairs or a elevator. Upon arrival they had us on the third floor and the elevators were out of service, they then put us in a room in block 11 that was on the ground floor further from the amenities that we expected after they offered to change rooms the next day. That night the head board of the bed came down on use in the middle of the night and water flooded our floor, this room was in need of repair. the next day they were unable to find us a room and asked us to stay in this one more night and they fixed the head board and some of water from the air conditioner. At 8 am the following they asked use to leave the room so they could get it ready for other guest. They said they would have a room by 5pm. To recap day three of my trip suitcase unopened, not yet in a room. At around three pm I went back to the front to see if a room was available and check on my luggage which was in storage at the lobby. I finally got a room 4007 which was a nice enough room and we were satisfied with it until the next morning the toilet was not working and made gurgling sounds all night long after reporting the problem with the toilet it did not get fixed for three days they kept saying they would send someone I had been to the guest services at least five times over the toilet issue at one point the person at the counter said they were in the room as we were speaking, so I went to the room and no one was there I then asked to speak to a manager I did not appreciate being lied to, they assured me someone would be there shortly. You must realized we were using the lobby toilet, although they were not available at all times do to being closed I believe they were being painted. My toilet was fixed and worked fine for out last 4 days, Except when I come to my room to check the toilet my floor was flooded with water and when the maid made the bed my blankets were touching the floor and had suck up the water and my bed was soaked, the front desk said I needed to keep the door closed to prevent the air conditioner from leaking on to the floor. I believe it was the plumber abd maid that left the door open when they were there as we always keep it closed. We had a good time for the last few days of our trip but I am very disappointed with my first six days of the trip. Were I spent most of my time waiting to getting a room and repairs done instead of enjoying the trip. I find this year the resort catered more to the “elite guests” giving very little attention to regular guests and not having any type of shade. I witnessed an issue with a woman and her handy-cap daughter, there were no chairs on the beach so this lady let her daughter cross the rope into the section for the elite guests and sat in the first chair. The security told the mother her daughter could not sit there being she was not an elite guest, there was no one seated in the area and and she was surrounded by 10 empty chairs. Security contacted the manager and he said she had to move or they would be kicked out of the resort. In conclusion this trip and the services of the Wyndham Group has declined from 1 year prior. All the travel I done this was the first time, return guests were not recognized.

The property is beautiful, the staff are amazing and all of your expectations will be exceeded. The rooms are so comfortable and spotless.The food is delicious and the a la cart restaurants are outstanding.The coffee shop makes a delicious cappuccino. You will enjoy the cats living on the property.

We stayed at this resort the week of May 9 to the 16th. The resort grounds were very well kept clean. The beach is one of the best I’ve experienced the convenience of the beach bar restaurant and washroom facilities close by made it much easier to enjoy the beach as much as possible I also appreciated the Butler style beach service we received for drinks The pool was kept clean. The fact that there was no pool bar was a plus in my eyes. There were many activities to try during the day without pressure, which made it even more inviting The food in general was good. A lot of selection croissants were to die for the 24 seven bar at the lobby was well stocked with snacks, coffee tea, and the bar staff were very friendly. Entertainment was music themed all week long and quite enjoyable fantastic service was given at the three à la carts food was well presented and fresh Steak was by far the best I’ve had on the island We travelled with Sunwing overall our representative Maria was very friendly and helpful. We were able to contact her using WhatsApp, which was convenient. overall I would return to this resort. But would also like to see improvement on the following. Service in general, especially at the buffet was lacking we had to make eye contact and ask for service most of the time, but when we did get it, it was good that went for all the staff in general. Also, there was a timeshare component that we agreed to explore I appreciate and understand wanting to draw up business, your asked to join a session for an hour and then it ends up extending to close to three I think maybe the approach could be different and after the first hour and if the answer is no then the answer is no

Wonderful in absolutely every way ! One suggestion...would love to see the night shows but please have them start earlier for many of us older folk ...they are too late .?Loved the Horse on the Beach and the little shops in Caberate !

Hotel was nice, rooms were clean. Bathrooms need some upgrade, grounds were kept clean, balcony would have been nice but for 80 per night not worth it, staff friendly, food good, entertainment good. Hesitant on giving bacon as they hide it i thought was a bit much. Speedy & Waldo the entertainment know how to get people moving.

Just returned from this well manicured property. The beach is beautiful and the pool area is nice. The food quality and service was lacking attention and organization in the buffet, especially in the morning. We waited 45 minutes one morning for coffee. The service in the buffet in the evening was much better. The snack bar food was good if you managed to get there when the food was prepared otherwise it was left there for hours. The bar tenders provided great service and drinks. The daily activities were great , but the nightly entertainment was lacking. There was diffently a language barrier in just about all areas, except for the viva club recruiters. They had no problem speaking English and would constantly harass you.

We are regulars at this resort and love the feeling of coming home every time we visit. From Edwin and Adonis and Henry in reception to David & Patricia in lobby bar - you are treated like family. Of course you have Gabriel and Carlos and Alexander in the Fusion to make every meal special. Ariel and Michael and Raphael in the Animation team are always there to entertain. Rooms are great - food is amazing and drinks are perfect.

The food was excellent, everything was clean. Great pool, friendly staff, plenty of beach chairs under palm trees. There was a quiet adult only pool area with hammocks and jetted tub. Excellent evening shows.

This resort is pretty cute. I don’t like modern or fancy and so this fit the bill for me in terms of authentic Mexican feel. Very enchanted and cute. Wifi sucked. Our room had the worse connection. No sweet spots at all unless you sat on balcony. Our room was an updated one and we liked it. Be warned there’s no elevator. We didn’t mind the steps but it’s something worth mentioning. The staff is lovely so sweet and friendly. Which made it a pleasant stay. Be warned there’s no bottled water in the room. They have a pitcher where you take to the filtered water station out the room. At first I was quite bothered by this but after purchased bottled water we just filled the bottles. The food oh the food. It was lacking. If food is a big deal then this isn’t your resort. Miramare by far best restaurant followed by Mexican restaurant which was quite lovely as well. Buffet sucked. If you’re into bacon there wasn’t as they were always out. Snack bar was fun. Lots of variety for a snack bar. Again, food isn’t their thing but for me everything else made that not matter for me. Beach was beautiful. The seaweed was an issue but not their fault they did their best to clear it up. Pool was fun if you found a spot. I think this resort was quaint and fun and aside from the food which I didn’t really care too much yes I would absolutely good back

Second time I've been to this resort "solo". It has everything I was looking for. Smaller resort, very clean, great selection of food, close to the beach. Close to airport. It has security on the resort and at the beach. They are so accommodating and provide excellent service!

Let me preface this by saying I have stayed at multiple 2-star resorts in Cuba. Which is a -10-star resort everywhere else. I have had zero complaints. And would return in a heartbeat and I sure hope to some day. I am not bougie, my expectations are low, I have an open mind. With that being said...... We arrived at 10:00am Sunday morning, not one lounger anywhere. Not enough loungers at the beach or pool. No umbrellas or palapas. When I asked about umbrellas they said they don’t like to use plastic, as I am sitting in a plastic chair at a plastic table. I have seen pictures since of other Viva resorts that ALL have umbrellas made of plastic. So along with 60% of all the other people - you are constantly trying to move your highly sought after lounger into the shade. The beach is a lounger maze, as well as pool side. Not enough chairs at the one and only bar/sitting (1) area. This is very loud since it is where everyone congregates. The line ups can go from 5 to 20 minutes. The lay out is awful. All very enclosed. At the bar there are tables and chairs but going around the corner there are maybe 10 comfortable chairs in a C format behind the main bar area. Then back outside where there is no seating. There is a very small bar by the pool, beach side. There beer is run through a cooler with ice (warm still), if they have a keg at all and honestly it hits your nose long before you take a drink, not good. They run out of coke first thing. Everything is kept in the sun. Cappuccino is available at the same bar (1) area at 8:00am, not a minute before which is wonderfully inconvenient since you must be up at the crack of dawn to be able to scoop a lounger. The coffee is generally not good. Very watered down, with sludge in the bottom which doesn’t make much sense, but the resort workers have nailed it. I had a mouth full of glass in one cappuccino – no one seemed to care. In the mornings, it started off you could self serve coffee to the left of the bar area, then on the counter at the bar, then poof no self period option period. So, you had to go into the buffet and chase someone down to get coffee because there is also no self serve option in there either. We were traveling for my birthday as well as my boyfriend’s (boyfriend is 6’2”), while on vacation, not before, not after, both of us were celebrating birthdays on this trip. Upon checking in I requested an upgrade, a bigger room, ocean front, second floor, any of the above. I also emailed requesting an upgrade (and how much it would cost) twice before we arrived. On a side note, my mother has worked at Wyndham Hotels for 25+ years, my father also works at Wyndham, for 20+ years. They have never traveled to a resort, received a resort perk of any sort, ever. She also reached out to the resort group asking for a perk/upgrade for our birthdays, something, anything. We received nothing. Our first room was postage stamp size; you had to do the trailer shimmy to the other side of the bed. No where to put luggage, we both traveled with full sized luggage as well as carry on luggage and back packs, we stayed 2 weeks. No dressers. The had a 2-door built in closet. One side was shelving, one side was hangers, under the hangers was a shelf with the safe on it. Oh, you have full length dresses? They shall be bunched up on top of the safe. We didn't even have a chair in our first room. Our room(s) were in the septic field. The smell was horrific. Our room was on the first floor, you couldn’t go on the patio because the bugs, oh the bugs everywhere and if you did manage to get out there to put your damp clothes to dry well then, the feral cats slept on them, and you couldn’t wear them anyways. We had no hot water, which Caribbean I get it, just take note. House keeping would come in the morning take all your towels and bring you towels again between 3-4:00pm. So many times, we would be ready to wash the beach off and you would have to call or go hunt down some towels. I was down at the front desk the same day we checked in requesting an upgrade, to be moved, somewhere. I was told to come back tomorrow at noon, and they would show me a different room at $20 per night/per person. The new room was bigger, partial ocean view (if we can call it that). Talk to front desk again to negotiate. Back and forth, back and forth, was told cash only so he wouldn’t have to ring it in (I know where this is going) finally agree on a price. It started at $480 ($20 per person/per night = 12 nights) we got him down to $300 total, fine, let’s do it. I ask how much in DOP, he gives me a number that is higher than I expected (I changed money in Canada before leaving). Turns out he we are negotiating in USD, I am Canadian, my passport that is in front of him is Canadian, I said I was paying in DOP, why would I even have American? So that was the end of that. We did not request anything else from Alfredo at the front desk. On day 8 when I learned nothing would come of requesting a room change, I reached out to Nexus/WestJet and asked to be moved from Viva Tangerine to anywhere else. And let me tell you how quickly things moved from that point on was wild. We were moved into a room with a separate bedroom, still tiny closet that would not accommodate dresses. Second floor so we could use the patio which was nice. And enter stage right = Cockroaches. Big ones, little ones, All the cockroaches. We had none in the first room. The AC would not shut off, you could turn it down, but it just kept going. The beach wasn't swimmable 92% of the time. The wind at the beach is a solid 40-60km/h every single day. You are being sandblasted at all times. The peddlers on the beach are terrible, same one’s day in and day out. They take loungers, put their wares on them and then when pretty girls are down at 11:00am looking for loungers they receive the ones being held by peddlers. At any given time, you have one or more within 10 feet of you, all day, every day. And wildly expensive, $25USD for a bracelet from China, $50USD for 2 French braids. Wild. They have “showers” at the entrances back up to the resort, but it’s a dribble and not accomplishing getting the sand off you. The pool was cleanish – until about 10:00am and then it got cloudy, every day. Not a pool I am getting into. One day someone put a dirty diaper 2 feet from the pool, in a busy walking area, that sat there for more than 5 hours. People walked around it, including staff, now I know it is not their job to pick up after ignorant guests BUT it does need to be picked up. Public washrooms in the “main” area are not well maintained. As these are the only washrooms that anyone knows how to find. In the ladies you will never find paper product what you will find is a very potent candle, only 2 stalls and toilets that are clogged daily. Outside of the washroom 10 feet is customer service, she has a radio and will have someone restock it, if you let her know. If you don’t like smoking this one isn’t for you. I had someone vaping next to me in the buffet, at her table. As someone that smoked/vaped for 20+ years I can tell you that is a big no-no. Do better lady. People smoke next to the signs that say no smoking, no one enforces it, anywhere on the resort.

Short ride from the airport! Which is great in the heat. Except for the small bus! Too cramped. Very clean and comfortable rooms. A couple of power outages but they only lasted few seconds. Friendly, hard working staff. Big thank you to Yocairy!! She rocks! Food was excellent with a wide variety. Resort is the perfect size! Easy to get around. Pool is clean, and well maintained. Beautiful beach and view of the ocean. Will definitely go back.

We are so happy we chose Viva V Samana by Wyndham for our vacation and would absolutely return. The resort is only a few years old and very up to date. The beach was gorgeous and well maintained by staff. Our room was new and felt clean and fresh after housekeeping. We were also pleasantly surprised by the little lounge pool in our patio. We had read some negative reviews about the resort food, but we were honestly pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed it all. The restaurants were good too, but you had to book them quickly. We didn't do any excursions, but we took a taxi to Las Terrenas one morning and shopped and wandered and it's absolutely worth doing. We loved this resort and met several people who had returned many times (one couple said it was their 7th visit!). We can see why and would absolutely come back again if we come back to the Dominican.

A very clean resort, food was good and fresh, drinks were typical sweet sugary fruity with alcohol. worth the upgrade for the premium alcohol selection and the fresh fruit juices. the beach and ocean are nice; there is a sandbar and while I stayed the red flag was up for 5 days, due to the ocean undertow, its rough water to swim in. There is one large pool- clean but extremely busy for a smaller resort. Theme nights and entertainment were great. 3 a la carte restaurants were also good. Friendly staff and there is an Excellent medical facility on site. I had to use due to an allergic reaction I suffered mid week.

The rooms were dated but was clean. They advertised 2 bars but one a folding table by the pool with limited drinks. There was not enough tables in the buffet and when you did get a table you could wait through the meal to even get a glass of water. I will say that all of the staff was great

Service was not so great. No one is willing to address service issues if they are not selling you something or trying to get your money they are not interested in you. Had an issue with the room request. Asked for 1 king bed for 50th birthday celebration got room with two double beds. Front desk was very dismissive when we tried to get the issue resolved and it never was. We were told no request was sent to them and there are no rooms with 1 king bed. The day of my birthday it rained hard all day. The tile used on the walkway from the hotel to the beach is very slippery when wet, no signage at all. I was walking barefooted but still slipped and fell hard, banged up my right knee pretty badly and twisted my right ankle and toe. I limped my way down to the beach restaurant and bar as we were closer there than to the lobby. When we got there I was bleeding, the staff just looked at me but offered no help. Another guest saw what was going on and offered help, he called his wife over, she spoke Spanish and she got the staff moving to call someone to help me clean and dress the wound. Food was average, very salty overall. When we mentioned it they said oh yes we like the salt in DR. Overall it was somewhere to escape the cold so that was ok but we will not be going there again ever.

Grounds are lovely good situation on beautiful beach. Usually very windy which is why its a Kite surfing spot.Most staff helpful and friendly. Building maintenance needs improvement. We had problems with our room AC and door lock, both of which needed to be replaced thus waisting one day of our holiday !!

Grounds are well maintained, a lot of plants and flowers. Room was big, with large balcony. Food was very good, different every day. Nice concerts were every evening. They have clean water stations on the first floor. Don't forget to bring diarrhea medicine.

If you are looking for the best beach this is it. The water and surf are safe and fun to boogie board. No sharp coral or yucky seaweed anywhere, just pure sand. The amount of palm trees at the beach allow for shade with dappled sunlight so you don’t feel like you are baking in the sun. The pleasant breeze and view of the ocean was the highlight. The food is ok and has a variety. We all did get sick with some food bug for one day.

This is a smaller resort, but the beach is completely amazing. You can walk for hours! We had a room on the main floor and were happy to note that it had a very nice patio with a lounge bed and 2 chairs as well as a small plunge pool. The food was ok. There are 3 a la cartes but I did not enjoy any of them and would have preferred to just go to the buffet. The staff was great but be prepared to not get what your ordered. There is also a wood fired pizza oven so pizza is always available for lunch or dinner. Unfortunately, both of us contracted Norovirus and were quite sick for 2 days. There were more people at the resort who were also sick.

This hotel left a lot to be desired. Unlike a lot of all-inclusive resorts, I found this one needing so much more than it offered. The restrictions were insane (can’t swap a beach towel out before noon, no alcohol before 10, only two hour timespan that beach volleyball was allowed, etc…) which was quite irritating. The food was not great at all except in the Mexican and Italian restaurants - which are impossible to get into because the resorts holds more people that it can host. Thankfully, the beach is gorgeous and there are some amazing views and stops along the beach.

I like this resort for accessibility to shopping and the beautiful beach. It is on the smaller side but that is what I like. The grounds are beautiful and well kept, good food and really nice staff. My only criticism is for returning guests there is no benefits like other resorts where they acknowledge your returns and upgrade you or do something special. It was my 3rd time there and all they said was "that's very good". It was disappointing. Also, they don't provide face clothes for bathing. They have a sports bar that has pool tables but they close them down early after 11pm and most adults don't get a chance to use them because up until then it's full of kids and teens. People don't know there is a DJ and dancing after 11pm in the sports bar because it is hidden. There are very few people that go upstairs because you can't really see it. That is unfortunate because people want to dance and have fun at night and meet other people once the entertainment is done for the night in the courtyard. They should do more to advertise the sports bar and the DJ. These are just small suggestions to make the resort better but overall I recommend this resort.

We had a lovely family vacation to Viva Tangerine. We chose Caberete as our destination because of the awesome kite surfing and beautiful beach. The resort was well maintained. We always had hot water and the air conditioning worked great. We had awesome ocean and pool views from our balcony. The food was good (not great) and none of our family members got sick during our week stay. The front staff were friendly and helpful. We would have loved pickleball as an option but they did have a tennis court. The pool table required $50 deposit and was often being used. We enjoyed the evening shows and that they were not too pushy with their activities around the pool during the day. We spent most of our time on the beach. We would come back.

The resort was very clean , well maintained, very friendly staff . Restaurants were very nice. I am celiac and had no worries on what I could eat ., even in the buffet . Entertainment was good different every night ..

Great smaller resort. No long walks to dining hall..lol. Entertainment crew are beautiful and fun. Thanx Uli for your special attention. Would return in a heart beat. The pool with the oceanview, and the closeness of the ocean is fantastic!

This is obviously my own personal observations and thoughts: Viva V is a beautiful resort on a wonderful stretch of beach where you can walk either direction for hours and a lovely 25 minutes (bus) drive from Samana (AZS) Airport (a still quaint and small airport). The layout of the resort is easy to navigate and the low rise buildings have rooms that are clean with comfortable bed and clean, decent bedsheets. The rooms that have the pools, these pools are very rarely used and they are really cold. Bungalow area (across the drive from main building) are nestled nicely in gardens with a small sitting are with bar of their own. Amenities for shower in the rooms are minimal, so bring your own and the bathrobes are ready to be used more as rags than as robes. The towels are good but housekeeping tend to limit the numbers and which towels they will provide (very inconsistent)...and that's where it ends! Our biggest concern was the food / buffet. Although the al la carte restaurants were decent it could be hard to get a reservation at an early time so the buffet was a good alternative for many meals. The service at the specialized restaurants was good and efficient however, beware the beef (throughout the resort actually), ensure it is cooked.! The Buffet; the floor was deadly slippery, didn't look like they cleaned it, food was not kept at correct temperatures and left out longer than what IMO, would be considered safe, also repetitive and a bit dull. Granted, I think they try. There never seemed to be enough dinnerware / glassware and what was being used was often cracked, chipped or dirty looking. There was a constant battle for locating tables that were set (unless you line up when buffet first opens for the meal), and then the tables were often not set in their entirety. I actually saw staff reusing some table sets that didn't look like they had been used ?‍♀️. There does not seem to be enough staff, training, supervision etc. or hygienic practices in general (even with the availability of hand sanitizer). Drinks were good as was the coffee. I even found the wine rather pleasant! As for the water; this resort does NOT use plastic bottle so make sure you bring your own. They use a system called Vevo throughout the resort that allows you access to filtered and good water. I did not find this an issue... except when the system lost power and there was no water to be had. They do have cartons of water should you require. We did lose power off and on throughout the week, electrics, water, WIFI etc. but the generators would pick up the slack fairly quickly. The pool would be considered small by many but IMO it was not an issue. It was kept clean and there were no real issues in finding loungers unless you wished a pad for the lounger, then that was an issue. The loungers are not comfortable so the pad was extremely beneficial (more of these would help the situation). The outside towels were always available. In general; I would not classify this as a 4 star resort. ? This resort has great potential but with not enough resources and IMO poor hygiene practices I would not be returning. That said, I would recommend this location but be prepared, and if you have a sensitive stomach / gut, I would not recommend. While we were there my self and many others fell prone to gastroenteritis. This is NOT pleasant albeit the onsite Doctor and Nurse were great and were being worked off their feet with these illnesses.?‍♀️ The whole resort seemed to be a bit disorganized and at times felt chaotic (again could be lack of staff) The staff in general were very pleasant and helpful however, this is a very TIP based resort, more so than many others I have been to even though we do tip. Here, without the tips, one didn't receive consistent quality of service. If you wish to exchange USD, they will for pesos, and they won't even give smaller USD in exchange for a larger denomination of USD?‍♀️(hotel policy)!! Also, there is a high percentage of French Canadian who visit this resort compared to English speaking. This was a a first for me. So, be prepared to try and speak more than just Spanish. ? An issue I do have are the smokers. Most were very courteous however, please stop butting out in the grass, beach ground etc. The remnants are not biodegradable and it is filthy making the resort look nasty! ?

Overall this resort was great,beaches are beautifull, staff is super friendly and helpfull, food is good and fresh, rooms however lacked thicker sheets on the bed and hot water in the showers… thus why its not 5stars… I would return, but hope the hot water issue is adressed, it was not the same for all rooms, my friends had hot water, but everyone in my building was lacking it… (building 11)

We went down with my brother's family for a week, all teenaged kids. It was a pretty solid little resort. Pros: -Very walkable. You can walk from the furthest room to the beach or pool in 2 or 3 minutes -Clean and modern. The facilities are in pretty good shape -Friendly staff. I stayed in the DR a few years ago and the staff were dead eyed and miserable. They seem friendlier here -Food was good. We found the buffets and a-la-carte's to be sufficient. We didn't get bored. -Cats and dogs on site were a plus for us -Beach is really great. Large and long Cons: -Aggressive timeshare VIP salespeople lurking around every corner. Huge turn off. -Meal at the latin fusion a la carte took 3 hours -The stage is in the main area where the bar is, so we had to hang out in the lobby with no bar at night to avoid the noise. Very clean and the grounds were amazing.! Loved the beach area. Did not enjoy the drinks as with any all inclusive, cheaper alcohol is used along with very sugary mixes. Great wine though...Great access to town and loved the night life on the beach.

Nice hotel located close to beach. The beach was well groomed. The pool area had plenty of tables and chairs and the staff ran some great poolside activities. The Mexican restaurant was amazing. The snack bar overlooking the beach was nice. The room itself was not great. Air conditioning leaked water on the floor. The ceiling in the bathroom shower needed maintenance to repair due to a water leak, the two queen beds were not overly comfortable and room furnishings were minimal. There are not nearly enough beach lounge chairs. We were there 10 days and we're unable to get a lounge chair on the beach even once!!! One day we couldn't get beach towels due to a dryer problem. All the staff were amazing and helpful. The constant push of viva staff to sell memberships was a bit too much.

We checked in the hotel on Tuesday January 27and the room we were given was very nice.There were so many little things that made this resort feel cheap,like only two complimintry pop for the week,we had to get our own drinking water.the premium drinks went to guest who paid extra.There was very limited entertainment and only 2 bars,with one shutting down early. The staff was friendly but we didn't like the constant harassment to buy goods and services from the locals on the beach and the lack of seating both on the beach and by the pool. This was our 10th carribeen vacation and one of the least enjoyable.

I thought the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Resort was a perfect size. Food was good, however three in our group were sick, including myself. I had ate at buffet not sure what caused the food poisoning. I was terribly sick! Pool was somewhat concerning when we arrived. Lots of algae in the pool and very green.

Retuned at Viva Maya for the second time. The resort really covers my needs. Food is exceptional and plenty. The grounds are well maintained and there’s plenty of entertainment during the day and at night. Rooms are clean. The only small hiccup was that the bathroom had a bad odour and we had to have the bathroom fan on all the time. Other than that we love the resort and will go back in a heartbeat

The grounds were lovely and the beach of course is amazing. We noticed that the rooms are not very sound proof and that was disappointing. We were not happy with the quality of the draft beer or the a la carte restaurant food. We thought the buffet food and lobby entertainment was great.

We almost cancelled based on the reviews. We were there January 24-31, 2026. The one and only complaint we have is that the food was never warm enough. It wouldn’t matter what restaurant you went to the food was cold. As for people saying they were sick, you’re in a different country eating and drinking differently so yes you may have an upset stomach. We all ate the food and no one was ill. Take what you read with a grain of salt. After being there we are glad we didn’t cancel. We will return.

Just returned from Viva V Wyndham in Dominican Resort is the perfect size for a quiet couples vacation. Beach was great, Hotel clean and well maintained. Food was great Close proximity to the airport. Great vacation.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The food, entertainment, and overall atmosphere were excellent, and we always felt safe and well taken care of. The staff was attentive and friendly, making our experience very enjoyable. The only small downside was the bar, which could use more staff and glassware. At times, proper glasses ran out, and being served a beer in a small juice glass wasn’t ideal. The entertainment team was outstanding, and Aries truly deserves special mention. He went above and beyond to include my son in the daily activities and made him feel welcome and confident. It was amazing to watch my son participate in volleyball, bocce, and Zumba alongside guests who didn’t even speak English. Aries’ kindness, energy, and genuine enthusiasm created unforgettable memories for our family. He is a true asset to the resort.

Our room was in the newer section and very nice. The resort was well maintained and nicely decorated for Christmas. There were some minor shortcomings; sun loungers had no cushions, towels and sheets all looked grey, food and drink quality was inconsistent. We enjoyed ourselves very much and the price was great so we would recommend.

Our third visit to this resort and 4th time to this beach. In all of our travels, this is the 2nd best beach ever to walk and experience. The V room with plunge was worth the little extra expense, doubles the patio size, although the pool was cool and you couldn’t retract the awning for the sun to warm up the pool. Pina coladas were 7/10 from a slushy machine. Other drinks like a Singapore Sling, Mai Tai, were, well let’s just say horrible. Wish I would have booked the bungalows. Otherwise, our room was in the 600 block. Request 600 block rooms 6111-1114. Or 6211-6214, 6311-6314 as these are on the end on the 6 block and have full ocean view. 6314 would be the ultimate private balcony. There’s no need for the towel game as there are enough lounge chairs, but you do need to get up by 7 and play the game when you need the cushion for the lounge. MOST IMPORTANTLY, there is a gastronomic virus circulating and the Air Canada rep tells you although Air Canada doesn’t. We both were sick for 2 days. Apparently all over the DR. The restaurants are so/so. Menu doesn’t change. For the price, it’s a good deal.

Resort felt very small and overcrowded. Rooms were outdated and uncomfortable, and the music/entertainment was boring and repetitive. Overall disappointing—would recommend choosing a better resort. Go somewhere else

New very clean. Small but well laid out. Less than 600 rooms. Staff did it not speech English but lots of other guests where fromArgentina & Quebec so easier for them to Communicate. Highly recommend this resort.

My wife and I were satisfied with our stay. Good hotel. Especially excellent food beach restaurants. We took the cheapest economical option of the room. Accordingly, the renovations were not the best But everything necessary for accommodation was. Thank tripcentral!!!!

This is a very basic resort. The room was absolutely bare bones. No blanket, extra towels, Kleenex, accent cushions and not a single piece of art on the walls. The walls (or in my case the door between rooms) was paper thin. I heard everything next door and in the hallway. The buffet food was terrible. Not a single working salt shaker, I could never find a spoon for my yogurt, staff were unsmiling and not overly attentive. The food made me ill from day 2 onwards. Pretty sad night entertainment. The only amazing feature of this hotel is the beach view. It’s almost deserted to the left, with beautiful mountains in the horizon. That and the Latin restaurant food was good. Too bad I only got to book in 1 time to an à la carte restaurant over my 4 days…. Zero service on the beach and long lines at the beach bar. Beach buffet terrible. Oh and the wine they served was horrible. Not drinkable. Pina coladas clearly made from a mix. Overall I would never return. I would consider another hotel in Miche as the view was amazing, but not this one.

Small resort which could use a swim up bar and/or a sports bar. The all together room was a little bland. But Henry was kind enough to switch us to an amnesia junior room which was a great improvement. We had asked for a room on a higher floor but the all together room was on the lower floor and it really was not a pleasant room. Henry from front desk moved our room to 3rd floor and it was a huge improvement.

I travelled to this resort with my family celebrating a birthday. it was a short 4 day experience yet I was happy to go home. The hotel is very dated, and the pictures online make it look nicer, and larger. The rooms smelled musky and moldy and were nothing special. During my stay I was woken up on two occasions to loud guests screaming and fighting, with one of the incidences having the police called to the resort. The cocktails and drinks were made well and tasted great. The buffet had little to no variety with many of the dishes recycled daily, especially at the beach bar buffet. The a la carte restaurants were okay but nothing was fantastic, a lot of the food tasted bland. They did a nice thanksgiving dinner spread which was the best meal we had. The beach is nice with many options for seating. The staff is friendly and accommodating, however this doesn't change the overall feeling that the resort is much for of a 2.5-3 star rather than a 4 star. Overall I wouldn't recommend this resort, the negatives out weight the positives and even if you're on a budget pay I'd bit more for a better experience.

The location is excellent. The beach is amazing. The rooms are good. All of the staff are very good. The food is decent. The efforts of all the staff was the best I have ever seen. They were the most caring about the guests and had a lot of serving staff, maids, bartenders and security presence which enhances and makes you feel appreciated, safe and truly welcome.

This hotel is one of our faves. Small enough that the staff know you by name, but large enough to provide many fun activities. We enjoyed the flying trapeze, windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, bingo, archery, bike ride to small ruins, foos ball and thw pool party which were all included. The beach was absolutely amazing all but 1 day. This was our third time there and will definitely be going back.

This was our third trip to Viva Heavens. Love this small resort. Everything is immaculate. The rooms are huge and the air conditioning is great. Wifi works throughout the resort. The food was great. Lots of choices and variety. Loved the fresh rolls and bread. Although we didn't participate, the animation team were friendly and seemed to get people involved. My only complaint is that there is no coffee available in the restaurants. We'd like to have a coffee after our meal, but you have to leave the restaurant and go to the bar to get a coffee. The bartenders were not as friendly as before and although I got a "brown cow" the first night, ANY liquors (amaretto or coffee liquor) were not available after that first night. A very relaxing quiet week. The beach is clean and beautiful and so nice to walk along the "strip". During the off season the resort does fill with locals on the weekend, but they were friendly and polite.

The resort grounds was well kept and the room was very clean. The location and beach was amazing with no other resorts close by. The food was good and the staff was friendly and helpful. My stay was very relaxing. My only negative was the nightly entertainment started too late.

Was here to celebrate my birthday, I am a frequent flyer to Dominican, first time at this hotel. Was not greeted warmly at all upon arrival and everytime walked by front desk never a hello. Never given a map, a tour or anythng just room key and had to find it ourselves. Room smelled of mold, no balcony very small and stuffy so could not dry any wet towels or bathing suits etc. Very long walk to beach so be prepared. Long waits for a drink as only one person working at a time so be prepared for a line up of the same drinks day in and out. Bar staff very friendly though. Coffee shop amazing, the best thing about this resort really. One buffet, same food everyday, was good though. One mexican restaurant that was really good but you have to book it despite saying you dont. One other dominican restaurant that they neglect to tell you are only open on Saturday and you have to book. Rec staff very sweet and friendly, they have salsa classes and games going. Went there on Dominican holiday and the locals would just walk right infront of you and be served regardless if you are in line they would cut right in front and were very loud playing their own music disregarding those around them. I am a frequent flyer to dominican usually staying in a condo but I wanted my daughter to experience an all inclusive. I actually left the hotel three days in and rented a condo even though I was booked for a week, no reimbursement whatsoever. Staff didn't seem to care. The good reviews are definately fake. Forgot to mention towel rental. Went up at least six times in a couple hours to get blue towels, was told they are in the wash, not an issue I get it. But after the sixth time the towel girl (who is sitting on red towels that are larger and better quality) says "these are usually for the dominicans but since you have been waiting you can have these". Overall, I would rate this a two star. Thank goodness for the beach as the pool was small and not very clean.

First trip solo and this resort is exactly what I was looking for. I felt very comfortable and safe all the time. It's a smaller resort. Close to market and shopping mall. The beach was a short walk and beautiful! Lots of chairs shade or sun! Resturant and bar right there too. Security guard on beach and resort at all times. Vendors were at the resorts and very respectful. My only disappointment were the women that were offering pedicures. Very aggressive and asking for ridiculous cost and too persistent. Beware!! Food always a great selection and very good. Room was clean. Entertainment staff were so much fun. Definitely my go to place again!!

The resort falls far short of 4-star standards. Our "Superior Ocean View" room was starkly minimalist: no coffee maker, an empty mini-fridge, and a pay-per-use safe (watch the final bill—they tried to charge us double). The shower had almost no pressure, with water swinging wildly from scalding to icy. Noise from nearby activities blared past midnight every night, despite the room's prime location steps from the beach and its stunning balcony views. Dining and Bars: A Letdown The buffet was consistently poor, missing items, zero variety, and low-quality food. À la carte restaurants were a step up with attentive service (unlike the nonexistent help at the buffet). Bars were chaotic: endless lines, subpar or unavailable drinks, and exhausted bartenders doing their best under pressure. Beach and Extras The white-sand beach was pleasant overall, mostly seaweed-free but dotted with hidden rocks. Weather was perfect (31°C+ sunshine), but skip the kayak/boat rental; they're rude. The pool was unappealing and poorly maintained. No visible cleaning efforts during the day, and the water appeared cloudy. In summary, beautiful setting marred by subpar facilities, food, and service. Not worth the 4-star price.

This resort is beautiful. It has amazing sunsets, fun activities, and a wonderful beach. However, the staff is not very friendly nor is the clientele. It is Italian, French and Spanish speaking only. The guests are very rude and the staff is not very friendly. The entertainment staff was the best and seems to work all day until 12:30 am. We rented an Oceanfront bungalow, room 1152 the sand flees were everywhere including all over the room. We are covered in bites! The food was not great, buffet food is covered in flies and the tables were always dirty. We usually had to find utensils and napkins and clean off our own table. All though the grounds were really nicely kept and the pools were warm and clean, no sea weed at the ocean, the lack of friendliness and rude guests we would not return to this resort.

Very nice staff. There is a language barrier for those who do not speak Spanish. Speaking to servers at restaurants was something hard as an English speaker, but customer service representatives understood and spoke English. There is a family of cats including Kittens and they are very friendly and playful. Only thing is that the hotel room mini fridge only had 2 diet cokes and 2 tonic waters in the fridge and it is not restocked during the stay. Overall I would visit again.

Everything was good - beach, ocean, food, bars, room, but one nuisance should be mentioned. For some reason they organise the live performances with the local entertainers every evening right at the central plaza next to the main restaurant between the buildings ((though there is a special theatre next to the beach remotely from the room buildings) and such performances usually do not end till 10pm or even later. My first priorities at the resort are always the beach and the ocean and I go to bed rather early moreover in November it is dark after 6pm. And I go to the beach before 8am. So, with the loud music from the performances there is no chance to get asleep before 10pm. I really cannot understand why they do not begin the shows earlier and do not wrap up before 9pm. Only the guests at the buildings 5 and 6 can sleep relatively well, those buildings are protected by the buildings 2 and 3.

1st time. at this resort. Viva Maya Playa Del Carmen. Hotel grounds are beautiful. Checkin was dmooth. we were early. so we swam and ate. never went to the adults pool too far away. near the main entrance so. avoid that section of rooms unless you want to walk far to the beach. snack bar is by the main pools. and was ok burgers digs fries salads rice some meats etc. from the snack bar and main pool. only foot steps away from the beach. tons of shaded chairs not enough shaded areas around. the pool. buffet was good always. something. to eat. for vegetarian as well. 1 towel. per day, 3 alacarte. Mexican was the best, high energy environment. and best menu . rooms were clean and comfy with lots of hot water bring mosquito spray . would we go back. yup in a heartbeat ? ?

We just recently went to the Viva Tangerine by Wyndham and were very disappointed in the amenities and some of the services. I do not recommend staying at this hotel. The local people spend the weekends there which in its self is not an issue but they did not watch their kids then raided the hotel buffet the day they left after that the buffet was closed down till the next weekend. They turned down the hot water in the showers after they left they ran out of towels at the pool by 10am the programs were either non existent or just the same 5 people doing the same dance 4 times a day. I have no plans to ever stay at a Wyndham property ever again. We were a large party of guests and were mostly housed in the beginning in kne building but by the time we went home we were spread all over the place due to things falling apart in the rooms. Such as the ceiling falling on a bed, air conditioning breaking, and beds breaking. If I wasn’t with good company it would have been the worst trip I had ever been on

This resort was quite disappointing. The front desk staff were forward and didn't seem to eager to solve issues quickly. They had locals occupy the resort on the weekend, and the children were loud and not watched by parents. Our friends and I could.not attend a show due to noise and fighting amongst children. Locals then pillaged the buffet on Sunday afternoon to the point that the resort stopped serving food until 4pm. We received notification that the buffet was going to be close from Monday - Thursday on Sunday night. The bar was not adequately stocked. The only shining light was our housekeeper ( Dani ). The shuttle from the hotel.was terrifying for.my wife. The resort needs more bilingual people, language barrier was an issue. Not.much in the way of entertainment, and pushy Viva staff to join their club.

We visited the Puerto Plata area for the first time and had a great experience overall. The resort offered good value for the money we spent. It’s small but cozy, and thanks to the low occupancy in mid-October, we were able to relax and really enjoy our stay. A big plus goes to the entertainment team — they did a fantastic job! The beach was beautiful and clean. The only downside was that the beach bar didn’t open until 10 a.m., even for coffee. However, the bartenders and resort staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The pool area was small and not very deep. On weekends, when more local guests arrived, it quickly became crowded and a bit dirty. The buffet food was generally good, though the selection was limited and quite repetitive from day to day, with only minor variations. The à la carte restaurants were open just three nights out of our seven-night stay, likely due to the low season. Overall, it’s a good four-star resort — clean, cozy, and well-maintained.

My stay at Viva Azteca by Wyndham hotel was absolutely wonderful! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. The rooms were spotless. The food was excellent — fresh tropical fruit, local specialties, and a variety of international dishes to choose from. The grounds are amazing, covered with greens and trees. The beach has a lots of shade. The staff went above and beyond to make sure every detail was perfect, from arranging excursions to offering thoughtful touches throughout my stay. I left feeling completely refreshed and can’t wait to return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing and unforgettable getaway!

This resort provides great value for the money. Sure it is not really a 4.5 star resort but you are not going to get that at this price point. The suite was new and spacious , the staff was without exception helpful and friendly . The pool was nice and warm and the beach was long and beautiful . Great for walks. The food was tasty , keeping in mind that you are not going to get premium steak at this price point. Others have mentioned not great variety in the buffet which is true but there was enough to keep us satisfied for the week. The drinks were good but no premium alcohol. One complaint would be that they advertise unlimited a la carte dining but there a were no a la carte restaurants open for three of the seven days and often only one or two on other days. We did attend all four and they were good with the Mexican being the best and the Italian being our least favourite . All in all we were quite satisfied based on the approximately $1000 per person that we paid for an all inclusive week in a suite in early October. Great for the trip with kids and grandkids. We have been to nicer places but paid way more for those.

The food was really good and the staff was so friendly! We were surprised that there is no elevators but they did give us a main floor room. Very clean and very well maintained for an older resort. The fellow at the bar made the best cappuccinos.

It was my first time here, And I must say the hotel was well kept, both inside and outside, the service is awesome, they go to the extreme to make sure that you`re comfortable and happy, I was recommended by a friend and I would surely do the same to others ( I`m loking forward to another visit soon)

Grounds were beautiful and well kept. Hotel is a bit dated but we knew that going in. Beach was great. Pools were clean but maybe a bit small for the amount of people staying at this resort. Food was not my favourite for Mexico but we always found something. Staff work hard and were nothing but pleasant and polite. Rooms are small but the bathrooms in the rooms were a great layout. We truly did enjoy our stay

Great stay. Smaller resort compared to the others that I went to but people are very nice in the resort including the staff. Food is not too bad. Could be better in terms of sea food as the reason why we travel into places like this is for sea food selection. Other than that it's good and I was happy in my stay.

First and foremost - make sure you're flying into Puerta Plata! Air Canada is running a scam with flights to Samana and the transfer to Cabarete is a 2hrs+ drag each way. Not worth it, never mind the time wasted. Second - it has been known for years that one does not go to this hotel for food - and that hasn't changed. Somehow they are managing to have worst food experience than Cuba - which in itself - is an admirable achievement! But give it a few days and you will also come to the conclusion - that they just want you to be eating outside of the hotel and thus - supporting their local economy. Not like there's a lack of choices in that regard. Thirdly - learn to pick your battles when it comes to getting drinks at the bar. There's only one and it will be very frustrating if you'll be following the herd. Other than the points above - I had a great stay overall. Lovely hotel with a small footprint where everything is only a few steps away. Very decent, clean rooms. Don't get the "ocean view" if you care for good sleep - pool parties go on forever at night.

Very large grounds with many types of buildings and room selection. Few pools in different settings (quiet side, party pool, Super VIP section). Food available in many speciality dinner restauants and 1 big bufet. Wood owen pizza restaurant open 24/7. Drinks great, activities and entertainment all day long, disco bar in the hotel open every day after evening entertainment. Very good value for the price.

Our family of 4 went for 7 days. Very clean, accommodating and friendly. We had the best time! The food was great! Lots of entertainment. Rooms were clean and comfortable. We loved the snack bar for a quick bite. And the restaurants were so nice. The staff was great. We would stay there again!

Great resort, clean rooms, needs renovation. wonderful staff. Great beach, small and quiet for people who need rest. Dining was a problem, very basic. No variety. The food we had was stale sometimes.loved the presence of cats and dogs. They did not bother us and very family friendly atmosphere.i will not recommend because of the food.

Our suite was nice and spacious and clean. Smaller resort but well run and had no issues with staff. Just two bars, one at the beach and one at the pool, but no swim up pool bar. May is a slower time of year, so we had no issues getting chairs at the beach, or near the pool, pool beds were a nice touch. Food was good, but not out of this world, main buffet was a bit repetitive, but plenty of choices overall. No room service or a la cart dining during the day. The excursions that we booked with hotel all went well. Our massage at the spa was also nicely done. The resort was culturally diverse with patrons, and we met some very nice people. The beach in Puerto Plata is very nice, better than Punta Cana in my opinion. Bigger, cleaner and a lot less crowded.

I don't know where to begin. To much to write anout.We were 2 couples in our 60s. Paid extra for balcony rooms, could have touched the balcony across from us, no privacy, near the pool so it was loud. No face cloths, 2 bath towels are all you get for 2 people so drying your hair and wrapping it isn't an option. 1 hand towel. Not enough chairs or umbrellas around the pool. Food was 3 star at best. Although A la cartes were good with excellent staff. We never received good service for our concerns, made us feel like we were a pain in the butt. We changed resorts after our 1st week. Went to Marien and were upgraded to VIP. That resort made up for Viva, we enjoyed our 2nd week there.

We knew this was a small resort, however it was disappointing. The a la cartes were good. The buffet was so so. The beach was nice but there were red flags most of the time. The poolside entertainment was annoying. They played the same childish song over and over and the dancers looked like they didn't want to be there. They were not very enthusiastic. The first room they put us in was on the ground floor near the buffet so it was noisy. Also the patio doors were hard to open and our fridge didn't work. We couldn't sit on our balcony without feeling like a caged animal in a zoo. Everyone passing by would look at us. We asked to switch rooms to the 2nd floor in a quieter area. They accommodated our request however the new room was moldy and there was leaking on the bathroom floor everyday, which was very dangerous I almost slipped and my husband was recovering from shoulder surgery and we couldn't risk him falling so we found another resort for the 2nd week.

One should be aware that Viva Heavens by Wyndham may not fully meet the expectations of a 4+ star hotel. While it is marketed as such, the reality is a bit different. The rooms feel dated, and the entertainment is quite limited. The food is acceptable but unremarkable, and the advertised "huge swimming pool" is, in reality, rather small. Additionally, it’s about an 8-minute walk to the beach, which may be a consideration for some. On weekends, the hotel becomes quite overcrowded with local guests, which can diminish the cozy, local atmosphere it offers during the quieter weekdays. It’s not exactly the "quiet retreat" some might expect, as there’s a loud disco every night. However, the staff is exceptionally friendly, creating a welcoming and safe environment. While the hotel’s beachfront area is small, the beach itself is beautiful, allowing for long, scenic walks along the coast.

The resort it self is beautiful, but to far from the airport 2 hour transfer is to much also the workers have to be more trained on making drinks and service. The buffet is not the best food was only warm most times and you are sitting on plastic chairs with no tables cloths and after tou eat the tables are sometimes just brushed off not cleaned properly. The alacartes on the other hand were amazing, service was great food and presentation was amazing .

The hotel was very clean we really enjoyed the setup . The food was good . The staff was very helpful we Evan took a massage. The hotel room were clean .we went to a couple restaurants and food so good but Mexican one we fell ill after not sure why , all in all we would return to the hotel again .the place was organized and drinks were well made . Lots to o do for families and kids activities.

Rooms: V. Good Beach: Excellent Food: Good, but you usually have to beg the person carving the meat to give you a good portion. Service: Good to Great ( hit and miss) Grounds: well maintained Entertainment: Needs work, (Does anyone go to D.R. to listen to their music?) Internet: Lame but not quite useless.

Hotel was very clean, staff absolutely amazing, super helpful and made you feel so welcome. Always had a smile and a wave hello. Made my husband's birthday special. If you are looking for a quite resort for relaxing with not alot of activities. This is your resort. Music was top notch during the day during activities, but then very quite elevator music until 930. There isn't anything to do if it's raining. It would of been nice if they opened the pool tables, or have indoor things to do. Front lobby very cute but feel the space could be more used if there was a lobby bar. Room was nice and big. But our toilet leaked and bathroom door didn't close. The AC is super cool so bring a sweater to keep on in your room. No face cloths or extra towels. (2 towels pre room) also no milk for your coffee either. Netflix was hit or miss Mexican and Italian food very yummy. Amazing omlet station at the buffet for breakfast. Lunch by the beach has the best pizza. We did get tried of the same food daily there wasn't much change to the menu. Overall I would give it a 6 out of 10.

Viva Heavens is a nice resort. This was my second stay and again it was exactly as I expected. The food is good, the rooms and grounds are very well kept. The staff go out of their way to make your holiday as relaxing as possible. Compared to other resorts this one tends to be quieter and more relaxing. I would definitely go back . I was actually called in my room twice to make sure everything was OK snd I was happy. Now that's customer service. A few employees who stood out, Estefani, Rosa and Super Felix were great. Henry and Marie on the front desk helped me out whenever I needed anything. Also I must not forget Andrisson the great valet.

The hotel itself is nicely laid out. restaurants/buffets close to entertainment and main bar and lobby. Couple of things. -No railings for the pools (even splash pools by rooms). There is a ramp for one of the pools by the beach. The first step is a big drop. I was only in my splash pool once because it was unsafe to get in and very hard to get out without railings. I did mention this to the Viva club staff. -The service is just ok in general. I did find every housekeeper in the 3rd building I came across had a smile and said hello. Very happy with our housekeeper. Did a thorough job and made sure we had coke zero in the mini fridge. Jaeson at the breakfast/lunch buffet friendly as well. -ala cartes- only got to try one after being on the wait list. -Buffet food-where do i start? when it opens, the food is cold or barely luke warm. same foods everyday. out of 7 dishes for the theme night, 3 were rice. pasta, not cooked. Hard and chewy. The sauce was good but the ready made for kids was so sweet. Not sure why. I was hungry a lot of nights. -Food safety. I may be wrong, but when you have cooked meat, sitting outside where its hot, with nothing to keep it warm or cold, I dont think that is safe. Every day at the pool restaurant, the chicken, fries and vegetables that were cooked, sat over top of the heating pots (butane?) but they were not on. The bottom of the pan was cold. Beach, cloudy but nice. Clean beach. Enjoyed floating in the water. We enjoyed our visit. Would we go back? Probably not. Its 1.5 hours (driving really fast) to get there and the food issues.

Grounds were ok..rooms a bit sketchy need lots of improvements. Paint on baseboard..ac too loud. Terrible scent coming in through ac and gym had the most horrible scent as well as the spa. All wait staff were nice. Booked appointment with spa and they tried to say our appointment wasn't for that day was for the next day! We had another appointment booked for later in the week and when we got there they said the staff was sick very disappointed. We had to look for a place outside the hotel to go and get our stuff done! Staff at spa is very unprofessional.

This resort has everything you need . Clean , good food , great entertainment. Rooms are lovely . Balcony are/ were a disappointment. Lots of chairs on the beach but limited shade options . Sea weed was an issue at time of year we were there beginning of April .

This is a small resort that is quite compact and great for families with young kids or ageing parents. It is very windy on the beach most of the afternoon I felt there was a lot of variety on the buffet however, they didn’t have very many special nights One bar usually with not much of a lineup and the bartenders were very friendly Fun entertainment staff
