Verified PurchaserRoyalton CHIC Antigua: Good but not great
Positives - Close to airport. Nice hotel/grounds well kept. Modern clean rooms/amazing cold AC/convenient room key bracelet. No towel shortages. Awesome cafe for coffees and snacks. Great entertainment daily. No sargassum/beautiful beach.
Negatives - Moldy smell in room/no exhaust fan in bathroom/app for restaurant reservations didn't work/wasn't resolved (we managed to book some). Bottled water restocking issues. Some food/drink shortages. Pool water too warm. Not enough beach chairs/umbrellas. Smell of sewage on beach. Public toilets broken daily. Guests leaving food unattended attracting lots of birds.
Overall, good experience but not worth the price we paid. Hotel could be great with better all around management addressing key issues.
The Royalton Chic was a nice fairly small resort. Easy to navigate around. Loved that it was a quick ride from the airport. We stayed in standard room, was small but clean. Housekeeping was great. Food was good but buffet was always the same. They did run out of some food and drinks at times especially at the food truck and pool and beach bar. But always something else you could get. Loved the coffee shop. Roomservice took forever if you got the food at all so maybe avoid that. Beach was beautiful one the nicest ive ever been to. The people are so nice and friendly and you feel very safe. The place isnt perfect maybe not a top notch 5star but loved our time there and made the best of it!
Did our group of 8 have fun? Yes. Did we encounter some BS... yes. The staff is great. Under staffed though... so they run out of drinks at the pool bar all the time, and cant get drinks you wanted. Made reservations for dinner, then get told they have no food other than fish. Were we able to eat yes...eat what we want? No. Room serviced called 3x... how many times did they show up? 0. Had to call and yell and scream. Did i get it? Yes... 3 hours late... cleaning staff is the best part of this place, and as i said staff in general is great, its terribly managed and owners clearly trying to save a buck. Warning to owner. These bad reviews WILL sink your business eventually. Endless potential there. Wake up.
The Pineapple Beach Resort is a beautiful smaller property with a gorgeous setting directly on the beach. The grounds are well kept. The rooms are modern and comfortable. The beach is very nice and well maintained. Plenty of beach loungers. Three pools are clean as well. Fresh beach towels offered every day. The à la cart restaurants were good. The buffet offerings were plentiful and the food was good. The staff were mostly friendly and helpful. However, we did encounter a few who seemed “ bothered” when we asked for a drink and some are just downright rude and never smile. Overall I would recommend this resort. We did have a great time!

Verified PurchaserPineapple Beach Club: Amazing and relaxing resort!
What a wonderful place to spend a relaxing week. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and only wished we had booked a few more days.
The resort is beautiful, charming, and well maintained. We chose a waterfront-view room, and it was absolutely worth it. Each morning, we enjoyed watching the sunrise with a coffee on the balcony while listening to the soothing sound of the waves along the beach.
The food was consistently excellent, with a great variety of options and quality throughout our stay. What truly made the experience memorable, however, was the staff. Everyone was warm, welcoming, and attentive, always going out of their way to ensure guests felt comfortable and well cared for.
We would not hesitate to return and highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a peaceful and rejuvenating getaway.

Verified PurchaserRoyalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Disappointing Experience – Beautiful Beach, Terrible Service
The only positives about this resort were the beach and the cleanliness. The beach was beautiful, clean, and well maintained, and while the rooms were on the smaller side, they were clean and comfortable.
Unfortunately, everything else was a major disappointment.
The service was by far the worst part of our stay. While there were a handful of friendly and helpful staff members, the majority were extremely rude, unhelpful, and seemed uninterested in providing good customer service.
The reservation system for the à la carte restaurants was an absolute disaster. The app only allows reservations for two people. If you're traveling with a larger group, you're forced to line up every day at 10:00 a.m. to book with a representative. People start lining up as early as 9:30 a.m., meaning you're wasting a significant portion of your vacation just waiting in line. To make matters worse, the representative often arrived late, reservations could only be made two days in advance, and even when we were first in line, many of the desirable dining times were somehow already unavailable. We were repeatedly forced into late dinner reservations.
The buffet food was very underwhelming, with limited variety and mediocre quality. Service there was equally frustrating, as servers frequently ignored requests or took an unreasonable amount of time to respond.
The food truck was another terrible experience. Although it officially opened at noon, they rarely had food ready, resulting in yet another long lineup. The staff were disorganized and incredibly rude. When I asked to speak with a manager about the situation, I discovered that the manager was just as rude and dismissive as the employees.
It also seemed obvious that management was completely unprepared for the number of guests staying at the resort. Restaurants constantly ran out of menu items, sometimes very early in service, and the ice cream shop regularly ran out of ice cream well before the day was over. Running out of basic food items at an all-inclusive resort should not be a regular occurrence.
Overall, this resort has a beautiful beach and clean rooms, but that's where the positives end. The poor service, frustrating reservation process, disorganized operations, and consistently disappointing dining experience made this one of the least enjoyable resort vacations we've had. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend staying here.

Verified PurchaserRoyalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Poor Service
The scenery at the resort was beautiful and the bar, cafe service and entertainment were excellent. The performers did a fantastic job and made our stay enjoyable.
Unfortunately, our overall experience was affected by several service issues. At the gourmet buffet, some of the waitstaff were not very friendly or accommodating. For example, when I asked a waitress for an espresso, I was told I had to go to the café to get one instead of being assisted.
The reception area could also do a better job of creating a welcoming first impression. When we arrived, we weren't greeted or welcomed and throughout our stay it was difficult to get assistance with maintenance. We reported a leaking shower that needed additional caulking three separate times, but the issue was never resolved. On one occasion, a maintenance staff member even rolled his eyes when we mentioned the problem, which was disappointing.
Housekeeping was also inconsistent. Our room was often not restocked with enough towels and the drinks in our minibar were not replenished regularly.
While the resort has a stunning location and excellent entertainment, the customer service and attention to guest requests need significant improvement to match the quality of the property.

Verified PurchaserRoyalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Disappointing
The resort itself esthetically is beautifully layed out with plenty of trees, flowers and bushes overlooking ocean. However the receptionists were not very welcoming. We had issues with our shower and after many times of having to tell them they just dismissed our concerns. They kept forgetting to replenish our fridge and l had to keep calling for towels. The beach and pool very nice, including bartenders and loved their entertainment and water aerobics. The waitresses in the buffet "marche" need a lesson on etiquette. Overall my family and l were disappointed and won't be returning.

Verified PurchaserRoyalton CHIC Antigua: amazing resort and experience
royalton chic antigua was a beautiful resort with all amenities available. food was wonderful and staff were friendly and helpful. everything on the hotel grounds were clean, maintained. hotel staff checked in with us throughout the trip, we always felt safe and welcome.
We were there for two weeks in early April. Absolutely a beautiful resort!! It's a smaller resort (128 rooms) with the traditional wooden buildings in lovely pastel colours. We chose the "waterfront" room (2nd floor) and it was worth the extra money. We were maybe 30 feet from the ocean and slept every night with the AC off, patio door open and listening to the waves. We saw very few bugs and no mosquitos. We could have kept the screen door open!! The temps were low 80's every day and low 70's at night. Always a nice breeze blowing. A couple of short rain showers but nothing to ruin your day. The food was the big surprise. It was very good whether you ate at the buffet, a la carte restaurants, snack bar grill or up on the hill top BBQ location. We had no stomach issues at all during the 2 weeks we were there. The drinks are delicious and bartenders are talented. The drinks are strong and they do not skimp with the alcohol!! They serve locally made beer at the resort (Long Island Brewery) and I was worried because we are true Canadian beer lovers. It was not bad and somewhat similar to a Canadian lager. My husband drank it but I decided since we were "all inclusive" to drink the fancy drinks that we could not afford back home. The service was always good and the people of Antigua are very friendly and hard workers. There was always something going on at the resort (day and evening) that you could participate in or not, or just watch the fun. The evening entertainment was usually pretty good with some nights being better than others. The clientele was mostly Canadian, UK or American and I would say age 45 and up with most being in their 60's. By 11:00pm, most were heading off to bed. There is no one of the beach bothering you to buy something from them and the other half of the beach is "public". We walked down to the end of the public beach every day and always felt safe. (The cruise ships brings people to this public beach to spend the afternoon.) Lots of people snorkel at this end of the beach as there is a reef out front. We would wade out at the very end near the rocks and see LOTS of tropical fish!! (We brought some tropical floating fish food that I got at Wal-Mart.) There are a few "resort cats" at the resort (taken care of by the resort coffee shop ladies) and we enjoyed interacting with them and we are "dog people" lol. We actually brought some cat treats to feed them as recommended by earlier reviews. The cats do not bother with people unless you invite them to. The resort water is excellent to drink. You must bring your own refillable bottle and there are water filling stations in several locations. All in all, our vacation at this resort was amazing and we will definitely return. NOTE: Be prepared to pay a daily $24 resort fee and a daily $10 tourism fee when you check out. This daily $34 fee is in US dollars and must be paid and is NOT included as part of your vacation booking price. It adds alot to your vacation cost, particularly if you are Canadian. We were aware of it before hand and factored it in to our vacation budget. Unfortunately, this is becoming the norm at many resorts and hotels in Canada and the US. ANOTHER NOTE: Because the resort in on the eastern side of the island, it is vulnerable to sargrassum seaweed. They would clean up the beach every morning and some days there was none and other days there was some. You can not control "Mother Nature" and when we were there it was not bad at all.
Beautiful beach! Beautiful pools and kept very clean. Grounds beautiful and manicured. Bar staff exceptional and so talented at making such great cocktails especially at the Pool Bar. Food very good, sometimes not a lot of choices. Main meat cut at carving station very good! Hotel very run down and not well maintained. No housekeeping provided and hard to get fresh towels even after asking front desk several times. Easy to get pool and beach towels which was nice. Very dark on pathways at night time since light bulbs not replaced on pathways.
Room a bit dated but otherwise clean, and comfortable, was in 3352, the walkway needed a bit more lighting, food quite good, beach so beautiful and clean, the staff very friendly had an amazing time I would definitely return

Verified PurchaserJolly Beach Antigua: A great place to relax and unwind
The highlights:
A world-class, nearly mile-long beach with plenty of lounge chairs, solid umbrella stations, and stunning ocean and mountain views. The sand is clean and perfect for long walks, and the amazing turquoise water is ideal for swimming. The weather is warm and sunny almost all the time, with a wonderful cooling breeze in the evenings.
Unlimited drinks are available in endless variety, served by fantastic staff at the Coconut Grill Bar and The Palms Bar. Special shoutout to Neil for his excellent service and cheerful, entertaining attitude. The nightly entertainment at The Palms Bar is also enjoyable.
The buffet offers good daily variety and is generally satisfying, with highlights such as tasty soups, BBQ ribs, roast pork, and an impressive selection of excellent desserts.
The less impressive aspects:
You need to line up very early to reserve a spot at the à la carte restaurant, which is only available every second day (and closed Sundays). If you get a later seating, some menu items may no longer be available.
The rooms and buildings are more in the 3-star range, with some visible signs of aging, though the beds are comfortable.
Overall:
Definitely recommended for a fun, relaxing all-inclusive vacation.

Verified PurchaserJolly Beach Antigua: Great value
The grounds, beach and pools were all great. The food at the resort was excellent. We are fairly picky and the selection and quality was quite good. We didn't get sick from either the water or the food which is always a bonus. The staff were not on the friendly side but management staff were exceptional. My friend ended up sick with pneumonia while there and had to be in the hospital for two days. The management were amazing helping us to navigate this. One of the managers even visited her in hospital. If you ever have to go to the hospital while on holiday I highly recommend asking what you need to bring with you. The hospital conditions were appalling. So, definitely ask what to expect. We would go back to this resort. It is a 3 star. Definitely don't expect more. Also, the resort has 4 floors and no elevator. If you have any mobility issues make sure you let them know when booking.
This resort for the money you pay isn’t worth it!

Verified PurchaserOcean Point Resort and Spa: A Wonderful Resort
This is by no means a new hotel, but met our expectations completely. The staff were always very helpful. The food was expertly prepared with a wide variety. We really enjoyed the table service provided for all meals and the menu was extensive.
The grounds were well maintained with a huge pool and two private beaches. We really enjoyed the quiet areas provided. This is an adult only resort so we enjoyed that entertainment was only offered twice during our week stay and there was not constant music playing.
Our rooms were cleaned daily to a very high standard. The ideal complex for ultimate relaxation.
Hotel and grounds were as expected. In need of some updating and sprucing up, but pretty clean with comfy beds and breathtaking views!!
Staff was hit and miss, some polite, helpful and friendly while others were down right rude (especially at the front desk. Paulette was pleasant, others not so much)
Managers Clinton, Terrance and Vida (?) were exceptional. I got sick and they really made me feel cared for! Clinton especially went way above and beyond even visiting me in the hospital twice and driving me back to resort when discharged. Both Clinton and Terrance made runs to the pharmacy to pick up medication for me. Very caring individuals!

Verified PurchaserRoyalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Disappointed!
I am writing with deep disappointment regarding our recent stay on March 15 to March 21, which we had chosen to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. This milestone was meant to be a joyful and memorable occasion, yet our experience at your resort was stressful, frustrating, and far below the standards we expected and paid for.
From the moment we arrived, problems began:
1. Room readiness: We had to wait over two hours for our room, which was a highly inconvenient start to what was supposed to be a special celebration.
2. Poor service: Staff were often inattentive, leaving us feeling ignored and unvalued as guests. Many times waiting at the Marche Restaurant with no staff in front of their station. Many of the staff did not smile or even try to converse.
3. Food shortages: Key menu items were repeatedly unavailable, impacting our dining experience and enjoyment. On many occasions being told before we ordered that many items were not available. No shrimp, no chicken, no fish.
4. The food tasted stale, old and freezer burnt. When I asked the server, she confirmed that the fish had been frozen. The first time we went to the Score Pub, they were out of many items, and we were told this after waiting for 30 minutes for someone to take our order. We went back the next day, and ordered a Cuban sandwich at the Score Pub and was served a piece of pork and processed yellow cheese. The Smothered Chicken I ordered was deceiving by its name, as I received a processed chicken patty with yellow processed cheese. The Pasta allo Scoglio was overcooked with one shrimp and 2 mussels at Grazie. At the beach side grill, we ordered the pulled pork sandwich. It literally had 1 tsp of diced pork in it. Many times, Scoops was out of ice cream.
5. Room condition: The room smelt musty, the bathroom was dirty, with cracked tiles and blackened grout. Furniture, including the sofa, was old, scratched, and unpleasant, and the walls showed clear signs of neglect.
The combination of these issues ruined the experience of what should have been one of the happiest moments in our lives. We expected a resort of your reputation to provide cleanliness, attentive service, and a comfortable environment—standards that were clearly not met. Claiming to be a 5 Star Luxury Resort, the Royalton fell extremely short from what it advertises itself to be. The sunwing representative knew about out concerns and those of everyone else; however, nothing was done. We asked about an extended check out time due to the chaos at check in, and nobody got back to us. There were many upset families that waited for 4 hours plus to get rooms, as we were told they had a new computer check-in system. That is no excuse. Even the sunwing rep noted that there should have been more workers at the check-in desk.
Given the severity of these issues and the special occasion, we are requesting full compensation for our stay. We also urge your management team to address these problems immediately, so that future guests do not suffer the same disappointment.
We expect a written response within 14 days outlining how you intend to resolve this matter. I can be reached at jlasilveri@yahoo.ca.
We sincerely hope that the Royalton will take this complaint seriously and demonstrate the professionalism and guest care that should accompany such a celebrated milestone.

Verified PurchaserGalley Bay Resort and Spa: Amazing resort
I have visited various resorts in the Caribbean but Galley Bay stands out as the one special place I would consider for some return visits. The weather in mid March happened to be perfect. I was impressed with the excellent staff, the cuisine, the arrangement of the units right on the beach. I try to avoid crowds and here, there was a sense of tranquility, calm, peace. Only the sound of the surf . Recommend this if you want to get away from the “madding crowds”.
We enjoyed our one week stay at this very nice resort. The grounds are large and beautiful with lots of sitting areas both outside and sheltered. I made good use of the two very large and clean pools and found it a great way to cool down from the heat of the day. I happen to be a picky eater but actually enjoyed the food- there is a lot of variety to choose from and the quality was better than expected. There is a helpful travel booth on the premises where one can rent a car or book all sorts of day trips. If I went back I would ask for one of the new rooms. Ours was an old room that was dated and frankly not very comfortable. Housekeeping does not come unless you request that they do. All in all the staff were friendly and helpful and attentive to our needs.

Verified PurchaserRoyalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Royalton Antigua
The overall grounds were clean and well groomed. The room walls are paper thin and you could hear what was going in the next room. The rooms could use some updating. Food was good & entertainment was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The resort app. did not work when we were there for week’s vacation. After a day or two we realized we had to prebook dinner reservations. On a late time in day departure we couldn’t get extended time for room or book an advance room to freshen up.
I loved Antigua, - it’s such a beautiful island! I chose this resort for its beach which is a 5+ star. The pools are also beautiful. I chose it knowing that its facilities and service were 3.5 stars - rooms were very basic but clean, no housekeeping services unless you paid for them which was okay with me - I was able to switch out my bath towels easily. The food was good but only one al a carte which you had to line up early in the morning to get in that night. The biggest disappointment was the lack of activities/entertainment in the afternoons and in the evenings. The views of the beach (swimming was excellent) and sunsets made up for a lot though.
The hotel is dated but the food was good and the beach was amazing. They only have one a-la-cart restaurant the other is a buffet style. They do not clean your room daily unless you pay for it. But you can get clean towels by asking at the front desk and they will send some up. The staff are very friendly.

Verified PurchaserPineapple Beach Club: This resorts ticks all the boxes!
We love this resort. It is clean, the rooms are well appointed with very comfortable beds and pillows, beach is beautiful (especially with the new lounge chairs), the food is consistently good - in any of the restaurants and the staff are the best!
This is a smaller resort so it is quiet. There is no issue with making reservations at any of the restaurants. The entertainment is fun and interactive.
All of the staff from groundskeeping to the resort manager make it a point to say hello. Donna, the resort manager is there from breakfast until the entertainment at night is well underway. She can be seen clearing tables, showing people to their seats, speaking with guests and seems to have a great rapport with the staff. Egbert is a hands-on food and beverage manager and no job is beneath him. He is where he needs to be and helping to keep guest happy during their breakfast, lunch and dinner service.
Housekeeping does a great job at keeping the rooms cleaned and well stocked.
I love that the towels are in a cabinet on the beach and constantly stocked so you can quickly change out wet towels for dry ones through the day.
We highly recommend this resort to anyone who is looking for a small and quiet place to unwind. You will not be disappointed.

Verified PurchaserJolly Beach Antigua: Oh boy
The beach and ocean were absolutely amazing. Location was really the only positive point here. Our room had one plug that could be used, no ac for 4 of the 7 days we stayed and minimal hot water in the trickle of water that came out of the shower head. Rooms are not cleaned and if you ask a few times they eventually get you fresh towels. It was literally easier to use your beach towel and change it out everyday. Service was a hit or miss but mostly misses. If you can stay else where do so.
Well there is a tourist tax that trip central did not advise of
We book lobster lunch boat tour through trip central after being advised it was the cheapest price. To find out when we got there the resort offered it less expensive
So overall not impressed with trip central
We have been home a week and still have not received our reward speaker that was to arrive in the mail for our booking
Nice beach, nice rooms, pleasant staff, all the amenities, entertainments and restaurants are readily accessible.
Only problem is the food quality is hit and miss. Mostly miss. And food service is also hit and miss. Mostly miss.

Verified PurchaserSandals Grande Antigua: Nice resort.
The beach was beautiful and we felt safe coming and going from the beach as well as the resort. The grounds/gardens were beautiful and well tended. There was good security. We found the vendors on the beach respectful. However, our room was dated and the dresser drawers smelled musty. The bathroom had a low old-fashioned toilet in a separate small cubby-like room, requiring us to sit down on an angle so as to not bump the wall/door. The toilet area also had dirt in the corners. Oh, and part way through the week the water coming from the taps for 2 days came out very rusty! We reported to the front desk. No feedback form anyone on that, but the problem did seem to subside. The bed was comfortable enough but the duvet was too heavy. Our Club Med walk out was right next to the main entrance of the Med tower so very busy with pedestrian traffic and also the service golf-style carts were often zipping by and/or stopping/parking right beside us. Overall, we were disappointed with the quality of the food, especially the lunches and dinners. Most of the beef dishes were quite tough, at more than one restaurant. One night we had a chicken parm at the Italian restaurant and it was over cooked (hard/crusty) with pasta and a little sauce. Another night we found the fish and chips at the pub to be soggy. However, the buffet breakfasts were good with very good selection. For the money we spent on this vacation, our expectations were much higher with respect to the food and dining experiences. The service was variable, from excellent to poor. All people at the check-in desks were more than helpful and accommodating. Also, walking around the resort, we found the staff to be friendly and caring. Our best server for dinner was John at the OK Corral. He was very attentive and friendly. The worst service was for breakfast at Eleanor's where people who were seated well after us were served first. In the end we had to ask the server about the whereabouts of our meal. Then when it arrived, the omelet was very hot and nice but the waffles were cool and chewy like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. We had a good time, but again for the money we spent, we will be looking at other alternatives for our next vacation.

Verified PurchaserRoyalton Antigua Resort and Spa: nice but not a 5 star
If you like the smell of pot, this is the place for you. The Royalton Antigua has a beautiful beach, and the rooms were very nice. It is a smaller resort which means the buffet is much smaller with a limited, but good quality food selection. The all inclusive restaurants want you to pay extra for what other resorts include...how is this all inclusive? Clients cant just go get food anywhere, you have to check in and they will seat you, a long and tedious process. The Royalton staff has to serve you everything, at there pace. I have never seen a sports bar where quick food is usually available only available by sit down menu. Some staff were very helpful, but most 'served ' you like they were doing you a huge favour. We asked for a coffee with dinner and the waitress pointed to the coffee shop and said they don't serve it at dinner at the buffet....go over there. This is a 3.5 star hotel

Verified PurchaserJolly Beach Antigua: Top Beach Destination
If your going for white sand and blue waters this is the place to be it's also in a great location for adventuring around the Island. Everything needed is Near by. The hotel it self has lots of potential very beautiful, but needs even just minor repairs like fixing doors, paint job... and that would make a difference. The staff besides a few are horrible it's basically self serve self everything on site God forbid you make a request. The resort crowd itself is also 65+ so think of retirement home vibes very quiet, but we did are own thing and expected that so it wasn't an issue. Just don't expect a party vibe. The most crazy it got was when the old English people started singing drunk Karaoke at 8pm. the food is also horrible sadly Cuba vibes the best was Caribbean night Thank God for Ox tail.

Verified PurchaserSt James Club and Villas: Nice place but a bit dated
The two beaches they have are very different - the bay is calm but the water is not clear. The ocean side is clear but very windy and a bit rocky and treacherous to enter and exit the water. Food was good but not amazing and access to reservation restaurants is prioritized for Royal guests which means you will not always get in. Finally and most upsetting was that we had a pipe break in our villa and it took two days to repair despite their promises. We also needed to wait for management and other staff for extended length of time which is a waste when you are on a short holiday. When we asked for some form of compensation it was refused and there seemed to be a negotiation mindset. We eventually got a little for our troubles (

This is one trip I will cherish.
The Hotel could use a little or alot of updates but I still love this resort very very fun lots of sun and sand the entertainment was great.
The food all around was okay lots of varieties love the bbq chicken and burger shack
Hello I have been to this resort before and not much has changed. This resort is in desperate need of repairs. There are no elevators no bar fridge in room the air-conditioning never works. Any requests are always ignored. There are nice people with a few bad apples. Oh and last this resort has no ice machines it sucks to beg for ice.. This resort has resort fees.(not cheap) There tipping is insane this is a all inclusive resort but if you don't a tip.expect to wait.. The beach is breathtaking don't buy weed from the beach..Garbage.. but they do have good stuff, but good luck finding it.

Verified PurchaserJolly Beach Antigua: Thank you Beth. Jolly Beach Resort Amazing
My family enjoyed the experience. Half the family are scuba divers that the diving was great fun. Other half were beach and pool volleyball. Took hour long walks on beach and area with whole family.
Family being quite active, were amazed by the abundance of food and the great atmosphere with it; ate a fair share!!
I failed to mention in booking my oldest daughter is tall and her son is also at 6’2” and where given a room of a single standard bed for both. I switched with them for my single queen bed. Being the busy holiday season, there wasn’t any individual bed’s available. It didn’t detract from having a great time there!
Coming home was a bit of a challenge, my boarding pass was on standby, and told me no seat available. My oldest daughter suggested they help or the other 5 members of my family would need to be removed from the plane. Fortunately I got the very last seat, that normally used by flight attendants.
Since all worked out, these aren’t complaints, but notes for future planning when bringing the whole family.
Jolly Beach was a great small resort. It had everything you need. Beach and pools were fantastic. Rooms were small and simple, you don’t spend much time there anyway. Our room was cleaned on day 6 of our 7 day stay, you could request a different day or more frequent but we didn’t know beforehand. The buffet features a different menu each night, and the food was good quality. There was only 1 table service restaurant, Italian which rotated 3 menus. Reservations needed to be made day of, and if you were not at the desk before 7:30am you would not get a table. Drink and poolside BBQ service was slow. No poolside service. We needed to-return our own dirty plates and cups to keep our area clean and free from birds and bugs. Security kept way unwanted public beach visitors. Staff were all super friendly and helpful. Grocery store nearby and a few other restaurants. Island was very safe and we often walked around outside of the resort. Overall not a 5 star by any means, but we knew that going in. Great people and fantastic site, would definitely go back.

Verified PurchaserJolly Beach Antigua: Oldie but a Goodie!
We love this place. The rooms are old and dated but they all face the ocean or pool. The buffet is a bit repetitive at times, but you will not starve. The long bar is the highlight! You will always make friends and have an awesome time. The best part is the beach! It’s spectacular!
First of, Shannon is an amazing travel agent - she is very helpful and knows what we are looking for. The Pineapple Beach Club was amazing - great food, beach was amazing (Atlantic Ocean), small resort, not too big, no children and, above all, the staff were awesome. We had a marvellous time - ticked off all the boxes.. We were there for Xmas and what a blast that was.. I cannot get over the quality, variety and quantity of food available.. was scrumptious!
Thank you Shannon!

Verified PurchaserGalley Bay Resort and Spa: We love it here
Galley Bay Resort never disappoints. This was our 5th visit but the first time being there at Christmas time.
The wonderful staff went all out to bring us a Christmas Caribbean style. The light displays were stunning. I especially liked Santa and his reindeer on the sugar mill. The decorations were beautiful and we appreciated all of the traditional foods.
I loved that the servers proudly wore their antler headbands, Santa hats, and LED head gear. Really fun.
Our stay was every bit as wonderful as the previous visits.
We highly recommend this resort!

Verified PurchaserPineapple Beach Club: A lovely time at Pineapple Beach Club, Antigua
Just came back from Pineapple Beach Club where we spent 10 days. We loved the atmosphere of PBC, very chill! The resort is quiet with no loud thumping music but rather a very relaxed atmosphere throughout the resort. Even in the evenings, there was some simple entertainment, and it was leading in to Christmas so much of the themes were related to that. But the entertainment shut down around 11pm, there were only a few times that we made it that far!
The resort was recently renovated (some rooms) and everything was clearly given a fresh coat of paint and sprucing up. The resort was always clean and this included the washrooms by the pools, in the lobby etc. We found the service very good with only a few exceptions. We did voice our concerns and it was clear that our concerns were taken seriously. This is not a place where waiters come around and serve by the pools (maybe once a day) but we didn't mind this. There was always a bar close by and you honestly need to get up out of your chair once in a while and stretch your legs! We spent most of our time at the main pool but did chill at the Turtle Pool a couple of times. Very quiet there but there was still a bar! There was an Aquafitness class each day in the main pool which I took part in almost every day.
We had an Oceanview room which meant an upward climb (path or stairs) to our rooms but we used that as a way of knowing we were getting our exercise (~65 years old). If you have mobility issues, these are not the rooms for you. Our room was quite large and simply but tastefully appointed. If we had a complaint, and we knew this before we arrived, is the lack of bottled water in the room/fridge. We found out part way through our time that for $70, you could get a (one-time?) allotment of soft drinks, one bottle each of red and white wine and water. We had brought water bottles down with us and we filled up from the ice water containers at the bars before we headed up to our room but it still was a bit of a nuisance. We had no issues drinking the water and my husband also drank water from the tap.
There was never a time where we found a single tap, toilet or anything out of order. The water pressure in the shower could have been better but it wasn't terrible.
We enjoyed the food. You could always find something at the buffet. We did go to the Outhouse for lunch (loved it!) and the Pineapple Grill and Chef Pietro a la cartes once each. Portion sizes at the a la cartes are smallish but that's not unusual. If we were hungry after, we dropped in at the buffet for an extra something. We did not try the Orchid.
The staff at PBC were lovely. All very polite and friendly, too many to try and name them all! But thank you all for your welcoming spirit and great service.
We like a good beach walk so this beach was a bit short for us. However, the views were lovely as they were from our Oceanview room and the Outhouse!
We did scope out the PickleBall and tennis courts and also the gym (which seemed well equipped) but did not make use of them.
Antigua is a relatively expensive destination from Canada but the price point for PBC is better than some of the more well known chains. For our budget, this made it possible to give Antigua a try, and so from this perspective, it was fairly good value. This resort is not posh, but we loved it for its simplicity and chill environment. It clearly invites similar minded guests, many of whom return there many times.

Verified PurchaserRoyalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Stunning location
This resort is nestled away in its own little cove, making it the perfect getaway. Hotel was clean and staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. Food was amazing, varied and plentiful. Beach was amazing. I didn’t know such a beautiful beach actually existed! At the end of the beach is an old fortress you can climb for spectacular views. Lots of activities on site. Can’t say enough about this wonderful resort!
Returned to Pineapple after a 7 year break vacationing in Mexico and Dominican Republic. So glad I did. The resort is just the perfect size and has a beautiful beach for swimming and laying about. I love that you can eat and drink next to that beautiful ocean. There is always a breeze so none of the oppressive humidity common in other vacation spots.
I also love that you can snorkel off the beach and take Hobie cats for a sail.
We stayed in a Pool Terrace room which was just fine. Close to everything. My only complaint is that pool waterfall is too noisy for an enclosed space and don’t book these rooms if you aren’t used to sharing a queen bed!
All the staff are great and the food is good especially the Outhouse BBQ and the snack bar pizza.

Verified PurchaserRoyalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Nice trip
All of the staff at the hotel were great people. With all guest staying in the one building and there being only two elevators. It was a bit of an issue with one being out of order for a couple of days.
Also, I noticed when it rained no one was getting the water off of the covered walkways they were just mopped which only made it slippery.
The rooms were clean but a bit older and junior suite a bit different than any I have had before. (Smaller, only a small love seat and table in the room with the bed and desk)
I checked out on November 29th and still have not received my deposit refund as of December 8th, which is very disappointing.
Room service was frustrating orders were often incorrect or missing items. Drinks, food, or even simple items like lemons and limes were sometimes out of stock and not replenished promptly, sometimes not even the same day. In-room towels were also an issue; when requested, they often did not arrive the same day.
The bar had very limited liquor choices, and the entertainment was consistently disappointing. Most of the time, it was unclear what was happening, and the weekly entertainment schedule was not updated on the app.
On the positive side, the restaurant service staff were nice and friendly, and the food itself was good. However, the buffet was poor, and at times the food was cold at the buffet.
Overall, the experience fell short of expectations, especially given the delays with the deposit refund and recurring service issues.

Verified PurchaserRoyalton CHIC Antigua: Disappointing Experience at a 5-star. Not what we expected
Royalton Chic Antigua may be marketed as a 5-star resort, but it barely qualifies as a 3-star experience. They promise much more than they deliver.
While the beaches are
beautiful and the resort has a charming atmosphere, the overall experience falls short.
From service to food to the management of the resort, it simply doesn't meet 5-star standards, and I certainly wouldn't recommend it to friends or family. I'm also disappointed in Trip Central for suggesting this resort, especially given the price we paid.

Verified PurchaserRoyalton Antigua Resort and Spa: JUST OK!
First off our WestJet flight was delayed, then when we arrived there was no bus to take us to the resort. The WestJet team was VERY unorganized! Finally after waiting and complaining for an hour with a little baby, a random airport bus driver told us to come with her and took us to our resort. She definitely saved the day! I’ve been to 4 other Royalton resorts and this one by far is the smallest. It’s definitely a family resort, would not recommend it for singles looking to party! We went to celebrate my daughter’s 30th birthday and we had our one year old granddaughter so we weren’t looking to party but thought there would be more action poolside, that was NOT the case. The vibe team was mostly non existent; which was disappointing. They also promised to decorate my daughter’s room that did not happen, even though I provided my own decorations. Stating they were short staffed! Beach and food were great, drinks ok. But most staff (not all) were rude and seemed like they didn’t like their job! Would rate this resort a 6. Would return to Antigua just not Royalton.
We had rain 4 to 6 times a day all week, until the tropical depression (Jerry) went through. Prior to Jerry we had water dripping 24 hrs a day in 3 places in the bathroom ceiling. Water was coming through the wall under the bed. We used every towel we had, including loads of beach towels, We could not get anyone to come to our room to change the towels, asked several staff for help. We had to take the wet towels to the front desk each day. Saw the maid once on the day before we left. At one point the water was running down two walls. And the meals were being served in the only restaurant open was the buffet. There were no windows, just netting. The floors were covered in large areas of water. Staff were trying to keep up with the water wearing rubber boots and raincoats. We spoke to several different staff at the front desk unsuccessfully. We had two channels on the TV. I took photos because no one would believe the story. You could not pay me to go back there, it was a horrible experience.

Pineapple Beach is a beautiful place located on a beautiful beach! The food was plentiful and delicious. The resort's vibe is relaxing and chilled. We stayed at an Ocean View room 900's which gave us an excellent water view but there is a "bit of a walk and stairs to endure" if mobility is a concern. We have been beachers on many wonderful beaches-and this hits as one of the best for us. This resort is a definite place that has returning guests and now we know why! Hotel needs a little tender loving care, a little old, overall rooms are kept clean, maids did a great job.
Service was lacking a bit but most tried to do keep up with serving you. Bartenders could have better service. You can tell who enjoy there jobs I would say 3/4 of the service was good.
Can’t remember the one server who served us in the Caribbean restaurant and then she was serving in the steakhouse had 16 years experience and told me she loved her job….you could tell she definitely had the customer service I was expecting.
Excursion we were on was amazing the 3 who were on the boat made our experience one to remember. We were taken around all of Antigua swam with the stingrays had lunch, snorkeled it was well worth the money. Our guides were great, Brandon Tyris, and Kimba new how to make the trip a lot of fun Thanks guys

Verified PurchaserRoyalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Beautiful Setting, But Fell Short of Expectations
We recently stayed at the Royalton Antigua and had an overall enjoyable vacation. The beach was stunning, the weather was perfect, and we appreciated the efforts of several friendly staff members. The resort's location offers breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere.
However, despite these positives, we left feeling underwhelmed. Given the Royalton's branding and its affiliation with Marriott's Autograph Collection, we anticipated a higher standard of service and amenities. Unfortunately, certain aspects did not meet these expectations.
Dining experiences were inconsistent; We were unable to make reservations at some restaurants and told they were booked to find out others had no problem accommodating them. We were told someone would help us with our luggage while checking out and no one showed up. Having elderly parents carry their luggage down 5 flights of stairs since the elevator was out.
While these issues didn't ruin our trip, they did detract from the overall experience. We had a good time but wouldn't choose to return to this particular resort. For travelers seeking a five-star experience, it might be worth exploring other options in Antigua.

Verified PurchaserRoyalton Antigua Resort and Spa: beautiful resort but not the friendliest staff
The hotel facilities were wonderful and the beach area was beautiful but a lot of the staff were extremely moody and unapproachable. The restaurants weren't open everyday and we were asked to make reservations thru their onsite app that didn't work most of the time and when you went to book with the hotel concierge it took forever. When we did get into the restaurants the wait was always very long and when your food came it was always cold or not what the description said it was. Half of the time they did not have alcohol or could not make you any tropical drinks because of a lack of menu and because the machine wasn't working or they ran out of rum. We kept asking for bottled water and were always told that we had to call down to get some and that they did not have any at the restaurants. This was surprising because we were told that our mini bar would be re-stocked everyday with water, etc. This was not the case, we had to call every day to make sure they brought us more water. Most of the places that were suppose to be open late were not and when you asked staff questions they responded with annoyance and usually didn't have any answers. I also was surprised that our transfer and tour operator didn't give us any information about the island on our way to the resort or provide us with an orientation onsite to book excursion, etc. Most all inclusives' have someone onsite who tells you what excursions are available and what they recommend when you get there. Neither the driver or the check in person said anything about this to anyone. I was a bit disappointed in this vacation. The island was pretty but i would not recommend this hotel to anyone in the future. There were a select few people working on the resort that were amazing but in general the people were unhappy, lazy and unwilling to help with anything.

Verified PurchaserSt James Club and Villas: Beautiful Antigua!
Beautiful resort! Lots of variety, different places to eat, breakfast buffet is amazing! Entertainment every night at the Docksider restaurant along with fabulous food. Beautiful little coffee shop that’s open 24 hours a day, serving every type of coffee you can imagine, alcoholic or not. Saddest part of the resort was the seaweed but nothing that could be helped. Hotel staff was tirelessly trying to clean it up every morning. Other side of the hotel was Marmora Bay which was beautiful for swimming, kayaking, etc. We went there for a wedding and had an amazing time. Did the Shirley Heights tour and Swim with Stingrays. Lovely vacation, if only the sargassum stayed away!
The Pineapple Beach Club is a beautiful resort with incredibly kind and helpful staff as well as great food and lovely grounds. The beach and surroundings are gorgeous! We really enjoyed our stay there and will definitely book again in the future!!

Royalton Chic Antigua - Diamond Club
We spent 10 days here and also a friend reserved this property. The Pros: our 2 Butlers Maxwell and Terrl were outstanding and went above and beyond and should be awarded, The beach for Diamond club was outstanding, many staff are terrific
The Cons: while you will not starve here th food is sub par for our 10k experience. The Italian and Steakhouse are okay with great service. All other a la varies have great service but sub par food. We have visited many lesser quality resorts with much better food. Throughout our stay there was Royalton corporate staff at the resort working on improvement and insight. There are staff that are just over the top rude and should be weeded out. For my 38 years of travel visting many countries and over 45 AI resorts this was not good and we felt the value for a 10k vacation was la king as described and we felt taken advantage of at this price point. We have stayed at other Royalton resorts and this did not match in food quality. The main buffets I can only say need a lot of work.

Verified PurchaserPineapple Beach Club: Excellent Resort but a la carte reservation system is archaic
The hotel is very well laid out & compact. You can walk to all main areas in a 2 minute walk. Golf cart shuttle always available to take you up the hill to The Outhouse, the lunch bbq area, but also walkable for most. My room was in good condition with coffee maker and bar fridge with water. There are three bars, an infinity pool, a large pool and a smaller pool in a quiet area. The food at this resort is of good quality and lots of variety. There are 3 a la cartes, but in reality, only 2, as they charge $40 U.S. to go to The Orchid ( the steakhouse). I feel this is unrealistic after having already paid alot of money for this "All - Inclusive".
Also, you had to line up to reserve the a la cartes, and you could only book 48 hours out, so first two days you are there - not available! And if you didn't stand in line by 8 a.m. for 8:30 am opening at guest services, you didn't get a reservation, or they only had 8:30 pm available. I don't like to stand in line on my holidays - a waste of my precious time away. Apparently, they are in the process of changing it - let's hope !
The resort has many activities - you can be as busy as you want ( volleyball, ping pong, pool table, aqua aerobics, yoga, bingo, scrabble, a library and a good selection of board games)
The staff were amazing, very friendly and happy - especially Ashley, bar areas and Anika, guest services.
My only disappointment was the snorkelling - I chose this resort because I was told the snorkelling was good - it was not - it was just basic.

We loved our week at the Pineapple Beach Resort. The beach was very nice although not very long. The pools were good. The service in the buffet was okay, some waitresses were not as friendly and our dirty plates were not taken away very quickly. The food was good. Cleaning services was every other day which was okay however, towels and bottles of water were not replenished to what was in the room on the first day we arrived. We would prefer either a garden view or beach view next time as there were lots of stairs to climb! Chairs seem to be saved very early around the pool and on the beach. Hard to get a chair on the beach under the palm trees. There were some dead spots on the pickle ball courts. Overall we would definitely come back as we had a great time.

Verified PurchaserPineapple Beach Club: Best Vacation Ever
Even though this is only a 4 star hotel, it was by far our favourite vacation ever. It is a quiet and intimate resort but still fun and entertaining. The staff? Wow. Friendly lovely and so helpful. The food was plentiful and delicious and the location stunning. Loved my quiet times all over the resort but especially from my balcony overlooking the incredible views. It is not glam and flashy so if that is what you want, don’t go ( leave it for us!! ) and if you read negative reviews ignore them. Some people just complain about anything. As I said it’s not glam or luxurious but why do you need that when you have this paradise to relax in. You will feel at home here and not lack for anything. Definitely going back next year!

Verified PurchaserRoyalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Disappointing for 5 star luxury
Very disappointed in this luxury resort. I will NEVER stay at a Royalton Resort agin! Food was below average and limited. Steak restaurant had no steak! Non alcoholic beverages not provided. Service in all areas tardy or ignored. Resort service workers went on strike 2nd day we were there, no compensation offered. Room cleaned on 3rd and 5th day, fridge stocked 1x in 7 days.
Horrible experience, I wished I went to Aruba
We stayed at PBC from Feb 1-8 and thoroughly enjoyed our trip. This is a smaller resort with a beautiful beach. The grounds are lovely and well maintained. The rooms are dated and could use an update. The food is good, we especially enjoyed the Outhouse, Pineapple grill and the Pelican snack grill. The staff were really amazing, attentive and very friendly. A big shoutout to AnneMarie the fun team manager who is a real firecracker and always engaging the guests in a variety of activities. We really enjoyed the pool exercises and the evening entertainment! This is a very relaxed resort, no need to rush around to reserve pool or beach chairs. We would definitely recommend this resort if you’re looking for a low key adults only experience.

Verified PurchaserRoyalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Very nice resort
We enjoyed our stay at the Royalton Diamond Club. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The beach was fantastic; Deep Bay was great for swimming.
Entertainment in the evenings was enjoyable.
Overall, we would return.
being it was a 3 star, that is exactly what we got. As long as you go in remembering that, you will be ok. The hotel is old and outdated, the rooms are old and tired, there is a lot of room for upgrades and improvement. First resort I have been to where you dont get your room cleaned unless you stay over 8 nights. You can get your room cleaned if you pay $10 per clean, which we were told would happen before we went BUT at check-in, they didnt bring it up or offer it to us so we forgot. Days later after not having our room cleaned, we asked about it. The lady who talked with my friend said 'sure, we will clean it tomorrow' and 'we can do your friends room too', well they got their room cleaned and we didnt, when I asked the next day I was asked 'did you sign a form to get your room cleaned?' I said no, then I was told it was an error that they cleaned the other room and they shouldn't have gotten their room cleaned without signing and agreeing to pay. In the end I never did get my room cleaned, but they did bring up new towels and bathroom supplies. Which I must say the bathroom shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion were wonderful, my hair was soft and shiny all week. Our friends had issues with the toilet in their room but we didnt. There were also a number of blackouts over the week, only lasted up to a minute but still happened, and there was no water one day, we were on an excursion so we didnt notice but that is inconvenient. There is also only one sit down, make a reservation restaurant, which works for the number of guests but we like more options. The buffet was very well done but buffet is my least favorite type of meal. The staff were friendly, the beach was gorgeous, the pool bar and pool dining were great. would be nice if they had a food station available for in between the buffet and restaurant, there is no food available for late night snacking. Excursions were fine, we booked through the Air Canada rep, cost was fair. Island is very pretty and small enough to travel in a day. Most side roads are terrible but you get that in every small island. Overall, we had a great time, lots of sun and relaxation which is what we went for, the rest are just details. So, if you are ok with the 3star rating, then go and enjoy this resort.
The beach and grounds of this resort are beautiful as are the two pools and two raised gazebos. Enjoyed the burger/hot dog/chicken grill on the beach and the bar. The hotel staff were mostly sad or not accomodating and often lied to you when you asked them for something. I was told that "all of the phones are under water" when I told them that my phone was broken so I couldn't contact my friend who was in a different area of the hotel. The 3rd floor room was very small with a narrow concrete bench and concrete end tables. After being moved to the first floor (after multiple trips back to the desk and being told that the manager was not in) , I was given a first floor room where the phone didn't work, the sliding screen door didn't slide and there was a large animal hole right outside the small patio. This room had an old dresser and night tables. There was a pipe in the ceiling that was not covered with a screen. Every night I cleared crickets and other bugs from my floor. I am not sure if they came in the pipe or under the door. The covered front desk/ waiting area is small and the only other outdoor covered area near the hotel was a coffee area. Breakfast and supper meals were fine; the lunch buffet was insufficient and birds were constantly in the fruit bowls which had no covers. Not sanitary or appetizing to have bird poop on your fruit. There was only one sit down restaurant - an Italian one and you needed to book it at 7.30 am.for that day. This hotel was rated a 3 star. I would rate the grounds and beach a 5 star, the staff a 1 star and the interior rooms a 1 star. For the money, stay somewhere else.

Verified PurchaserSt James Club and Villas: Outstanding resort
St James's Club is an amazing resort. Our third visit and would return again. Excellent food, clean rooms, friendly and kind staff. Grounds very well maintained. Only a 45-minute drive from the airport. Although a family resort, was quiet.

Verified PurchaserRoyalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Disappointing
This resort did not meet the standards we we expecting. The food at both the buffet and the a la carte restaurants was acceptable but did not offer either the variety or the quality we were expecting at a Resort of this stature. Despite being the busy season, there were frequent "not available" meals on the menus and unavailable ingredients. One night in the Italian restaurant, two people of our foursome got their orders while the other two waited over 10 minutes to receive theirs.
There were many small inconveniences. In our room, one day the safe failed to open as we were about to leave and we had to wait for Security to open it. The seal around our balcony door was defective and the sound of wind in our room was near constant. There were many more inconveniences each too small to mention but collectively very bothersome.
Sunwing sent us an email shortly after arrival advising that their local Nexus representatives would be holding a meeting in the lobby at 10 the next morning. After arrival we and others eventually found out that the "meeting" was actually at 9:30 the following morning.
Overall, just too many lapses to forgive.

Verified PurchaserJolly Beach Antigua: Get what u pay for
The resort is aging for sure. Restrooms around the resort are in need of some major upkeep/renos.
Bedrooms very small, but we only slept there so not a big deal. Rooms are never cleaned unless u book a maid 24 hours in advance at $10 a clean. This was not communicated very well.
Our king bed room had no fridge/coffee maker etc, but heard the 2 double bed rooms did.
We never saw a groundskeeper in the 7 days we were there, I almost got taken out from a large bush branch sticking out (I wasn’t paying attention), it was gone 2 days later but the other 6 smaller branches were still protruding all week.
The food was fantastic! Pizza factory (only a la carte) was great (not just pizza), but reservations are required and you can not book 2 days in a row. Unfortunately food is not 24hours as there is no sports bar or area for later in the evening, just breakfast, lunch and supper. No late night eats. Could put something in the coffee cafe from 10-1:00 am (fridge with wraps/subs from lunch). Playing cards til midnight requires some snacks lol.
Beach was beautiful, excursions were nice- jeep ride, catamaran cruise, and a local taking us by taxi to the city and across the island was fantastic. Weather wasn’t the best, rained several days and the resort has very limited indoor areas to stay dry. No daytime entertainment and limited night time entertainment (which was fine with us). definitely an older clientele.
Staff was hit or miss for friendliness but it seems like they could use more staff which may be relevant, especially in the bars.
More training needed for the bartenders, we left many a drink behind because we literally couldn’t drink them.
Small market huts on the beach, people very nice and not pushy.
Enjoyed ourselves but would not return.
The grounds, pathways, facilities and food were tremendous! The beach was glorious! The room was very basic but fine. I loved the low, more intimate style of buildings and the activities were fun too!

Verified PurchaserJolly Beach Antigua: Tired but wonderful!
Had a great time at this resort. The pros were the amazing beach, friendly staff and good food. We met more people on this trip than any we have ever been on. Friendly atmosphere! Would highly recommend paying the extra to get the king room. The super saver room is literally a jail cell (almost had to store our luggage in the balcony) with only a double bed. Not keen on the daily line up for the a la carte but the buffet was good!

Verified PurchaserJolly Beach Antigua: Just no.
Fast answer: we wouldn’t go back.
The beach: beautiful powdered sand always cool to the feet. The water was calm every day. Really easy to find a seat no matter time of day.
Pools: no one used them. At all. Everyone’s at the beach, pools are small and rather boring.
Rooms: this was the biggest mistake. The rooms are tiny. And we paid an enormous amount for a “super saver room” and there wasn’t even a spot to put one luggage and no closet space. Washroom was tiny but ok, stand up shower with a weird column running through it and peeled off broken tiles up top. You get a physically key for in room safe at check in. No mini fridge. Two outlets to plug in Canadian stuff. Decent free wifi connection in the room. No room cleaning or changing of towels unless you call it in ($10USD). Ask for towels or toiletries for free anytime you like.
Food: lacks flavour and anything that does have flavour has curry. Desserts are also bland. I’d compare it to what people usually say about Cuba, though I e had better food in cuba.
Service: there were no specific arguments but you can just tell the reception staff are generally rude. The hotel has an archaic check in system and room keys on bracelets.
Staff is super nice everywhere but front desk.
Entertainment: they had something every night except Sunday. None of it caught anyone’s attention and people just ignored it. One night was a karaoke night. Another was a one man show who sang and played a keyboard. Another was a one woman show with a DJ that felt like a boring wedding with songs like YMCA. Everyone just hung out at Long Bar and chatted. Amazing bartenders who impressively kept up.
60% of people were from Canada (mostly Toronto and area or Windsor), 30% from UK and 10% from the US.

Verified PurchaserRoyalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Amazing Stay
From the time we arrived, the staff was wonderful and willing to help any way they could. Even allowing me to use their personal cell phone to book a rental vehicle. The resort was clean and well maintained. The buffet had a great selection for all meals with an amazing dessert area. I tried all the restaurants and they were equally amazing if not better. I loved the cafe shop which I visited daily and some times twice for a pick me up and the treats they had and daily gelato. The nightly entertainment got better every day. The beach area never seemed crowded with space available regardless of what time I arrived. I was a diamond club member and my butlers, Kai and Brandon were incredible. Both made my trip relaxing and enjoyable. For those travelling with young children or teenagers, there were areas for them to enjoy their vacation as well. I will be back there soon as it will be my place to go.

Verified PurchaserRoyalton CHIC Antigua: Wonderful place
This resort was beautiful, up to date and classy. The staff at this resort is amazing an very friendly. The music was great and the guests were so friendly and fun. Everyone seemed to be relaxed and enjoying themselves. The food is just ok, not very much options. I wouldn't say the food was terrible but not great. Pretty close to night clubs n the downtown core. Pool entertainment was fun and the beach was nice too. Place is very clean n pretty and not overly crowded. I will definitely recommend this place and resort n most likely will return back for another vacation at this spot again. Great job!
- Food was very good. Many options at all sittings. No complaints there. (4.2/5.0)
- Rooms were dated but I new that going into this adventure. Paulette at Reception was great as she accommodated us with a new room as the first room had a few deficiencies that we advised her about (Best to voice your finding at the beginning)
(3.5/5.0)
- Grounds were clean all around.(4.0 / 5.0)
- Beach was very good although semi murky blue waters. (4.2/5.0)
- Drinks were fine as I'm primarily a beer drinker. That said, cocktails were fine as well. (4.0/5.0)
- The one (1) Restaurant' was acceptable but then I'm of Italian decent and am picky with my food from an Italian based format. (4.0/5.0).

Verified PurchaserPineapple Beach Club: Great location, lovely staff and nice public space updates. Reception and room were disappointments.
This was our third visit to Pineapple Beach and the restaurant(s), cafe, bar, entertainment and watersport staff were just as lovely as in the past. The beachfront setting and small feel of the resort are definite attractions and the food and dining services were excellent.
I have to say that I was very disappointed in the lack of recognition and responsiveness from reception personnel and in our room overall. When booking my room I had hoped for waterfront as we'd been in those on our two prior visits and preferred them but they weren't available. As such I selected a pool terrace room fully knowing that I wouldn't have an ocean view but anticipated trying something different in the quiet pool area. We arrived in our room after dark and did not have a good opportunity to see the area but immediately noted that the entrance to our room was beneath a stairwell. Upon entering our room there was no recognition or welcome for us as returning guests which was a surprise as this is typically standard. In the morning we struggled to open our drapes to let light in and once we were able to slightly pull them open our limited view was of fallen foliage, the back end of wooden stairs and there was no sunlight. To say it was a disappointment is an understatement. This was not a terrace or patio that anyone would sit out on and the two chairs and table were of no benefit. I did attend reception to request the opportunity to obtain a change or upgrade fully anticipating that a cost would be attached but was told there was nothing available across the resort. I was disappointed and proceeded to make the best of it as I was celebrating my birthday while there. This disappointment turned to frustration after I was told by a couple of other guests on resort that they'd requested room changes and they were accommodated. In addition, we struggled to obtain hot water in the room and had a tap that would not turn on in the bathroom. After a visit by maintenance we were told that we needed to let the water run for awhile prior to showering and the tap issue was just not fixed. I spoke with another repeat guest who was familiar with and had stayed in the terrace room block and they noted that this issue was present across the section. Given the issues with fresh water access across Antigua I do think it is highly problematic that a block of rooms must let showers run for 5-7 minutes before hot water becomes available. I hope that management takes the opportunity to address this as I'm sure something can be done to assist with flow and help to reduce this waste. I am uncertain if I'll visit Pineapple Beach again given my dissatisfaction with my recent stay but trust that my experience is not typical.

Verified PurchaserRoyalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Beautiful beach
The resort was beautiful, clean and the beach was perfect!
The staff walked off and strike one day while we were there. The staff were not happy and did not want to talk to people staying there. Often we had to get our own cutlery, water and rarely were offered coffee in the morning. The staff have an impact on your overall stay and since none were happy it had a negative impact.
The weather was perfect.
