Jamaica doesn’t have one beach. It has dozens, and every corner of the island seems to claim its own “best” stretch of sand. Seven Mile Beach alone hosts half our list, but the south coast and the north shore both had strong enough contenders that we couldn’t ignore them either. Narrowing this down sparked more debate than we expected, with strong opinions on sand quality, water clarity, and whether a lively beach bar counts as a plus or a minus. Here’s where we landed, from #10 to our clear winner.

#10. RIU Ocho Rios

The sand here gets raked twice a day, which tells you everything about how this beach is maintained. It’s wide enough to comfortably hold a nearly 850-room resort, lined with white loungers and shaded by tall palms. The water is calm (no offshore breakwater, so check conditions if you’re not a strong swimmer), and it comes with free kayaks, snorkel gear, sailboats, and windsurfing gear. Bonus: a beachside jerk chicken shack for when hunger hits mid-float.

A private, guarded beach means no vendors, ever. The sand is good, the water is warm with no undertow (though a few rocky patches make water shoes worth packing), and mornings bring excellent clarity before any afternoon seaweed rolls in. The real draw is the snorkeling area near the rope line, rich with fish and rock formations, beginner and kid-friendly.

Powdery white sand, calm blue water, and every complimentary water sport you can think of: kayaking, banana boats, paddleboarding, water-skiing, even free scuba for certified divers. It’s public beach, so expect some vendors nearby, but that’s part of the deal on Seven Mile Beach. With a lifeguard on duty and a genuinely family-first setup, this one’s built for kids as much as parents.

Wide, soft sand that shelves gently into calm, clear water. Sandals controls one of the best stretches of Seven Mile Beach of any all-inclusive on the island, and it’s walkable at night, which sounds small until you’re actually doing it. Hobie Cats, kayaks, paddleboards, and snorkelling gear are all included. This is the kind of beach you build a whole trip around.

#6. Couples Negril

Just north of Seven Mile Beach, Couples Negril trades crowds for a quieter cove feel. There’s a separate nude beach section (with its own hot tub and bar), and complimentary scuba diving, catamaran cruising, and glass-bottom boat tours are all part of the package. If Seven Mile Beach feels like a party, this is the mellower cousin.

#5. Grand Lido Negril

Worth knowing before you go: Grand Lido’s own beachfront is more of an intimate sandy nook than a long stretch of shoreline, but Seven Mile Beach is just a short trip away. What it lacks in beach length, it makes up for in atmosphere: quiet, adults-only, and clothing-optional for guests who want that option.

Two full miles of beach bordering a 500-acre wildlife preserve, with no towns or competing resorts nearby. That isolation means real privacy. Snorkeling, sailing, waterskiing, paddleboarding, and beach volleyball round out the activity list, and two swim-up bars plus beachside spa treatments make it easy to never leave the sand.

Legends sits directly on Seven Mile Beach, with sand just steps from the rooms. It’s the more casual, low-key sibling to the flashier resorts nearby, which is exactly the appeal: fewer crowds, more room to actually relax, and some of the best sunsets on the strip.

This one leans fully into exclusivity: a private, adults-only beach with waiter service, meaning drinks and snacks come to your lounger. Snorkelling, kayaking, sailing, catamarans, and beach volleyball are all on offer, but the real appeal is simply not having to get up.

The winner, and it’s not close. A long, wide, genuinely postcard-worthy stretch of white sand meeting crystal-clear water, lined with cobalt loungers and canopied sunbeds. It’s where most guests spend their entire day, connected right to the resort’s pools and lazy river, and it turns into the liveliest (but still relaxed) spot on property once the Seven Mile Oceanfront Bar opens up at sunset.
