Favourite part of the stay was the rooms, they are all situated so there is nobody directly above or below you. Keeps privacy high and the noise low. It's very spread out that way, so expect a lot of walking or taking the shuttle carts to where you want to go. Hautulco is very hot, several degrees hotter than Cancun or Puerto Vallarta for example. Beaches were nice, but sand is very course, so you will sink into your ankles when you step into the water. Not much for waves, it was pretty calm. Pools are nice, and had plenty of available chairs, mind you it wasn't high season when we went. I'd say the resort is about 90% local Mexicans, 8% Canadians, and 2% other nationalities. Food was decent, nothing spectacular, although the roast beef served for dinner in the buffet was really good. You won't starve! Drinks were good, and service was very good, and friendly. Try and tip if you can, since I noticed the locals weren't much for tipping, so I tried to make up the difference a little. Back to the rooms, I appreciated that the bathroom and shower area had an actual door, unlike some where it was wide open to the rest of the room. I didn't really get around to seeing the entertainment or shows, as the app didn't really describe very well what they were. The sheer heat kept me from trying tennis or other physical activities. I think one of the days it got to 36c and that was without adding the humidity factor. Takes some getting used to! Taxi to town is cheap, only 100 pesos, but be careful, they will drop you off if you don't ask otherwise at some of their "friends" tourist trap shop. Get used to saying "no thanks". Very expensive shops, I'd just buy at the boutique in the hotel to be honest, it's similarly priced without the extra step into town. All in all, a good stay.

The front desk and lobby areas seemed to be clean and in good order. The elevators were slow, had dirty glass and in need of repairs. The tile in the pool need to be repaired. Maintenance worker was in the pool chipping out tiles. Raccoons attempted to jump on tables while we were eating supper. Our room was not in the condition it should be for a 5 star resort. Dirty tub, large caulking gaps with signs of mold showing. Sliding door for the balcony was very difficult to slide open and closed. The handle was loose. The mini fridge was leaking and must have been leaking for quite some time because the rust stains on the floor are signs of this. Inconsistent with the quality of the towels in the room. Had some that were thin and had frayed edges. Good for use as a cleaning rag.

The Hotel Santa Cruz is a beautifully kept and operated hotel. It is very clean and well maintained. The staff were exceptionally helpful. Enough of the staff spoke enough English that it wasn't too difficult for me (non-Spanish speaker) to communicate. The breakfast menu was quite good; plenty of variety, nice extras (fresh fruit) and premium service. Beautiful pool area! Close to stores, shops and restaurants. Minimal noise overnight and great air conditioning.

This is our 14th time at Las Brisas, stayed for 2 weeks and of course, had a wonderful time. Weather is always great, played lots of tennis - A big thank you to Paco (Tennis Pro) for his superb teaching and instruction. Really improved my game. Will be back for sure!

We stayed for 10 days in March 2026. The location is perfect; far enough away from crowds to feel private, but close enough to town for all conveniences, snacks and treats. I felt perfectly safe. Our room was cleaned immaculately every day. The air conditioning was high quality. The buffet was entirely satisfactory. The staff are great, really attentive and friendly. The beach is stunning, and so is the corresponding beach club. I would ABSOLUTELY stay here again. Great value for the price.

We stayed at Camino Real Huatulco. It's a lovely Mediterranean style hotel. The grounds and architecture of the building is beautiful and well kept. The food was yummy and well presented both a la carte and buffet. The wait people at the restaurants were always pleasant and attentive, but on most occasions very slow. The pool bar staff were amazing and looked after our every need. We were a bit surprised that alcohol service was only available 11am - 11pm. The pools were stunning, definitely refreshing, clean and well mantained. However, we were expecting some games, music or water-aerobics at the pool, but there was none. The ocean was beautiful to see, hear and walk along. Unfortunately, we were unable to be in the water as often as we would normally as it was RED flagged our entire week. Our room was lovely, with a beautiful ocean view from our balcony. Considering the resort is 30+ years old,it continues to be in relatively good shape. There are a few things that could use some attention, such as the balcony sliding doors, bathroom taps, AC functions as well as railings along pathways, stairways and entrances to the pools. We would recommend this resort to especially those who are seeking a quiet, restful, sedentary getaway.

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the resort, and overall we were happy with our experience. Initially, we encountered a few issues, but the staff worked diligently to resolve them promptly, allowing us to settle in and enjoy our vacation. The resort offered a wonderful stay, and we appreciated the flexibility to book dinners at various restaurants anytime we asked. Our favorites were the Steakhouse, where we enjoyed the rib eye steak (and avocado appies were a delightful surprise), and the Mediterranean seafood restaurant, where the limoncello - tiramisu dessert was a highlight. We stayed at the resort for 10 days, and the food in the main buffet was just okay. We wished they'd offer more fresh fish and chicken options on the grill. Maybe that's something to consider for future menus! One highlight was the grilled octopus—it was cooked to perfection and absolutely yummy! At Las Brisas, the ocean and beaches were spectacular and we didn’t go in the pool at all. The beaches were clean and shallow and the water was calm most of the time, making it perfect for swimming.  We weren't pool people, but the ocean was perfect, and we loved that we never had trouble finding a spot to relax. Kudos to the beach staff for their great service—bottled water was served early mornings, making it easy to stay refreshed, and drinks were served starting at 11:00 am daily. We loved the grounds; the vegetation is beautiful! The resort is huge, and there is plenty of  walking involved if you are looking to stay active. However, they offer transportation via small carts, which was a lifesaver. We loved strolling to the buffet for breakfast and then heading straight to the beach. By the afternoon, however, we'd usually hop on one of those carts to escape the heat—perfect for lazy days. Also, our room had the best views straight to the ocean, we couldn't ask for more! The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were too high for our taste. The staff were able to swap them out and offered us a few options. Like anywhere it depends on your expectations. We chose this resort because of its wonderful beaches. Our suggestion for improvement would be the bar area where guests gathered after dinner, was small, and it was challenging to find a sofa or chair to relax and socialize with fellow travelers. More seating in this area would be great. A big thank you to all the staff for making our stay comfortable and memorable. We would recommend the resort to friends and family!

We stayed for 2-weeks Feb 26-Mar 12 and it was scorching hot every day and it why we went that far south. Service from all departments was excellent, and we did not find the Hyatt Vacation Club sales team overly pushy. The staff here make the difference. Almost every accommodation was made to try and deliver a great client experience. The resort is tired in terms of its conditions and needs serious attention which has been well covered. The buffet food is tasty but with so many options prepared ahead of time, often is lukewarm, even the coffee, except at Coco Cafe where it was piping hot. Our main disappointment was the absence of no-smoking rule enforcement. Swim-out suite guests along our building were chain smoking on their patio as were other guests around the community pools despite no smoking policies in place. Yes, we could have spoken to the guests directly or complained to management, and they would have addressed it, but we simply felt the management should be take steps to enforce their policies without being prompted so as to ensure a great customer experience for everyone. Can't beat the heat!

We love everything about Villablanca! The staff, location, cleanliness & friendliness, never fail to be exceptional. Thank you to everyone who makes our vacation so relaxing & enjoyable. The location of this resort is lovely, and the beach was beautiful. It's not a very busy place, chill atmosphere. They pool was large and shallow and seemed a bit dirty. Our room was rundown and ant infested. Food was decent. The staff were all very friendly. The wait staff was mostly very slow and inexperienced and/or untrained. Overall it was a good stay until we got sick from something we ate on the second last day. I would rate this resort a 3/5 at best. For the money, I would recommend choosing a different option.

We had an amazing time at this resort, however it needs some updating. The views were exceptional and staff went above and beyond! Especially Carlo from Buffett! The drinks were wonderful and entertainment was top notch. They had various bands playing at the bar and the shows were fantastic.

Over all a nice place. Buffet was good and the service was excellent. Lunch menu was repetitive. Improvements needed - access to premium brands of alcohol should be included. Towel service most definitely needs improvement - both in access- only one service person!- and sometimes lack of availability. Please buy some new towels and sunbeds!

Love the staff and the property. The organization needs to take a hard look at why they track drinks etc for all inclusives. It wastes time for staff and guests and takes time away from customer service. Trust your staff you bean counters. Management are the worst part of the resort. Blue blouse staff who do nothing and cameras can be used to allay theft concerns. Front desk staff are not overly friendly.

Definitely not a luxury resort but still good quality. Best suited to active people without mobility issues as there is a lot of walking, stairs and hills unless you want to be taking a shuttle all the time (even though the shuttles are great). Overall the food was good but often the pre-prepared items at the buffet were lukewarm or cold and not always fresh which was so disappointing. We quicky learned to stick to the omlet station for your morning eggs and to go to the lunch buffet as soon as it opened so that food was still warm. Our only dinner at the buffet was cold so we didn’t go again but the restaurants were much better. Our room in the Mar section was huge and comfortable with great balcony views. The beaches are great for swimming. We refused to join the lounge chair game of reserving early but still managed to get a spot somewhere even though it could be a challenge. Lovely staff and extremely friendly Canadian and Mexican vacationers were a highlight of our trip.

This is a safe, clean top notch resort with excellent beaches, excellent free on site transport to any area on the property, excellent food choices with multiple restaurants, a good gym, close to an awesome town.

I loved the hotel but too many stairs It was like a little condo with almost everything. The view on the 10th floor was amazing. Food was edible but super salty. I ended up with edema. Older people can't handle all that salt

We (4 Canadian women in our 60's) were fortunate to spend 10 days at the Las Brisas resort and enjoyed every moment. The staff were kind, friendly & helpful, the grounds and beaches were pristine, the food was delicious. So many activities available. Tennis and pickleball courts, snorkeling at the beach, beautiful pool areas, botanical gardens and walking paths. The resort property covers a large area. Those who don't enjoy walking can call for a shuttle to get around.

A wonderfully hotel . Amazing staff and awesome food!!! Would definitely come back again. Two weeks was not long enough. Special thanks to all the staff in the hotel for making it a great holiday. See you next year.

This resort is very quiet and relaxing. The beach is extremely clean. In general the trip was a relaxing experience. The resort is a quick, easy 10 minute walk into town with amazing restaurants. The Resort had great quality authentic Mexican food and drinks as well. If you are looking to get away from overcrowded resort areas this is definitely the place for you.

Exceptionally clean resort and beautifully maintained grounds. This resort is really spread out with many steep stairs throughout so would be difficult to get around if you have mobility issues. Staff are friendly and overall was a pleasant experience

Nice hotel, waterfront location, although not a beach front. Arrocito beach is just 5 min. walking distance. Good breakfasts. Afternoon/evening meals ($) are average. Attentive staff, although hard to communicate in English. The hotel is about 4.5 km from the town. Some issues re: money exchange (just cash exchange, you can’t buy Mexican peso on your card.

This was a 2 week trip for my 86 year old parents. They used to snowbird every winter ( first to Mexico then the US) but things changed and haven’t been able to go anywhere for years. Huatulco was on their bucket list and they’ve been longing for the sun, beach and ocean. I selected Dreams because there is elevators and the resort is located very near the beach. No need for carts to drive you to the beach. They came home having had the best 2 weeks ever. To say the staff was caring and attentive is an understatement - my folks felt they were treated like royalty. The food was amazing, the ate dinner at one of the restaurants most night but said the buffet was also excellent. Every need was attended to quickly and with kindness I highly recommend staying at this resort.

We feel very lucky to have stumbled across this resort on the trip central website... We are a family of four and used many of the amenities! but every day we were back on the gorgeous beach at some point, with its perfect sand and nice waves and protection from the small island...super beautiful and relaxing. From beach volleyball to paddleboards to small sailboats, there's something for everyone who wants to play by or on the water! Picklebar courts were discovered too late! The rooms were nice and clean, with excellent cleaning from staff. The beds were pretty comfortable and the bathroom well appointed. The food was a nice mix although the week we were there, there were several banquets so the chance to explore the different restaurants were limited. Highly recommend the coffee bar!

We love Las Brisas for the following reasons: Wonderful staff, a variety of a la carte choices and food choices at the buffets, spacious, clean rooms with gorgeous views of the ocean ( we were in the Mar section both times and had a huge balcony, Bering and Mediteraneo buildings). Our room both times was quiet, never noisy and always cleaned, mini fridge stocked. The staff never missed a day and if we requested more coffee or water, they provided it. We could not ask for a better room! We never got the maid's name or even saw her, nor did we see the mini fridge person, but they did a fantastic job EVERY day! We always had fantastic service from front desk staff and the concierge when booking out a la carte. Check in was quick, friendly and easy! The ocean is SWIMMABLE, no undercurrent or huge waves AND you can see the bottom of the ocean clearly and NO sargassum/seaweed! There is one bay to swim and snorkel, one bay to swim and another activities and swimmable bay. We would spend our days in and out of the ocean. You can see many fish while snorkelling. There are plenty of loungers for everyone and shade! The grounds are beautifully manicured and cared for. There are 5 a la carte restaurants and a buffet. So many choices! We never went to any shows as we are up early and in bed early!! Pickle ball and tennis are extremely popular here! There are lots of places to walk and get your exercise. People say there is too much walking and hills and stairs, but the shuttles run constantly. You just call from your room and they are there in a minute or two. If you are out and about, you can easily jump on one. We prefer the exercise so rarely took a shuttle. They offer a bird watching tour every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It is approximately a 2 hour tour and definitely worth checking out! You meet in the lobby just before 7 AM. They do have binoculars you can borrow. We have so many staff that made our vacation special, it would be a long list, but the ones that were consistent EVERY single time we saw them, were the egg station beautiful ladies at the Mexican buffet, Eva and, I didn't get the other name...Arora, Agave? but they almost always worked together. They had the most wonderful smiles for us, and made our day! As well as they made scrumptious omelettes! The other very lovely lady was at the Brisas Beach Club Lounge, Novelle and she was the best. The Brisas Beach Club Lounge is open from 7-11AM for breakfast and 5-7PM for appetizers and drinks. It was such a nice way to meet people and the appetizers were scrumptious! Fermin at the Mexican bar is always friendly and makes the best margaritas! We booked Brisas Beach Club for a few reasons, that mean a lot to us, but it is your personal preference. We want a balcony, we want an a la carte every night, we like a room with a view and we loved the Brisas Beach Club Lounge! Here are some of the staff, that I asked for their names and who made having dinner even MORE enjoyable. El Pescador staff, Adrienne, Leonardo Mediterranean staff, Audifred Martinez, Gabriel, Alberto (who we met two years ago) We consistently had exceptional service at the Mediterranean. Main Buffet, Roberto - we only went once for lunch at the main buffet. Solarium staff, Omar and Pablo, Shayla, Marco (he took lots of photos for us, so nice!) La Pergola for lunch is nice and it opens at noon, where the main buffet opens at 1PM. We never went to the Mexican or Kasba this time. We never had any issues finding things to eat. There were lots of choices! *The only negative comment I can make about the a la cartes is that quite often the vegetables were not very hot, but the meat or fish would be*. Our first morning, we were looking for a lounger on the beach, and wanted beach towels, but were too early to get any. One of the staff overheard us, and went and brought us two towels! His name was Christian. Very thoughtful. ALL the beach waiters were awesome! They came around regularly. We didn't always order, but they still asked. We were impressed! We have to say that this is probably our favourite resort. Many guests have been here between 1-24 times, and are coming for 3 and 4 weeks now! That says a lot. We are definitely going to book the minute the dates and times come up and hope that the prices stay reasonable! With our most sincere appreciation to all the staff that made our trip absolutely perfect. I apologize for not getting every name. I need to bring a notepad and pen with me to each place! Looking forward to seeing you next year!

Very nice quiet resort, beach is beautiful, freindly staff, but spoke very little English, Amenities say 3 restaurants, only two are open, a la cart is a 2 hour deal by the time you got your food and finished

Great location, great view of ocean. Staff was accommodating in every way. They have access to the ocean but playa Arrocito is 250 meter walk. Chef was excellent in preparing the food. Enjoyed the stay, will return

First time visitors to this resort and it did not disappoint. We loved the beautiful greenery and as non-swimmers has one of the few beaches where you can swim without feeling like you’re being sucked out to sea! Food was great and the weather even better! Will definitely return!

The environment of the resort is amazing. The service of the staff is excellent and efficient. The food in the buffet and therestaurants is good but not excellent. The room is spacious and clean, but the condition and the decor is quite outdated.

We've been the Las Brisas Huatulco about a dozen times. It checks all the boxes. Set on a beautiful piece of land, with lots of tennis/pickleball, great swimming beaches, good food, comfortable rooms with great service and staff. We get lots of exercise walking around the resort but would caution anyone with mobility issues, ... this is not the place for you.

My husband and I just spent 10 days at Las Brisas in Huatulco, and we couldn’t be happier with our stay! The beaches are absolutely stunning—perfect for swimming and snorkeling for hours in clear, calm waters surrounded by beautiful fish. At the beach, Angel and Nadia were truly outstanding and made our experience even more special. The buffet offers a wide variety of options, so there’s something for everyone, and the à la carte restaurants serve delicious meals that we thoroughly enjoyed.

What an experience from the moment your arrive. This resort is outstanding! The grounds The food. The rooms. The service & the View !!! The staff are very accommodating with all issues I’ll be back

Beautiful and quiet area of Mexico. Better than average food for an all-inclusive, excellent service, beautiful views, beach and pool areas were great. Not an elevated luxurious experience but a hidden gem nonetheless. Would definitely come back.

Our room was clean and housekeeping was good. Turndown service was missed numerous times and even when we spoke to the concierge they stated it was because the red light was on; the light was not on! As preferred club guests, we went for breakfast at castaways on our first morning, it was terrible. My husband was served raw eggs, so we stuck with marketplace for breakfast the rest of the week. In speaking with other guests that were not preferred club, they received better service than we did! For example, consistent turndown service handful of pillow mints and flower petals on bed. Preferred club bar was supposed to have top shelf alcohol, but in reality you could get it at almost every bar. Therefore, I do not know exactly what the additional cost was for! Overall our stay was okay. Our week was made brighter after we met Isai (bar tender at preferred club and sky bar). He remembered us by name, greeted us each time he saw us even if it was passing in a hallway. Also want to acknowledge Daniel, Josue, and Mario servers (in Marketplace) and Astrid (hostess in Marketplace), they were all warm and welcoming; Daniel especially. Other exceptional staff were Mardonio bar tender (Rendezvous bar) and Ismael bar tender (sky bar). Food at Ocean and the Teppanyaki experience was superb! The fire show and International show were fabulous!

Although it's a tad bustling for us quiet folks, I still recommend this resort. It's terraced so involves a bit of walking up and down to your room and to the beach dining hall BUT the open-air truck is always there to shuttle you. Plenty of activities around if you want them. When we're there (Feb/Mar 2025), the food is plentiful and of good variety. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the house-keeping very good. Depending on your booking, your room can be very spacious, such a treat! Some nights, music can be loud but usually quiet down around mid-night. Within walking distance, you have a few mini markets, pharmacies, a couple decent restaurants/cafe, an art gallery, and massage places. Not too far away there're towns such as Santa Cruz, and La Crucecita to explore.

It’s a fantastic place for a relaxing getaway! The staff are extremely enthusiastic and genuine. Restaurants and venues to suit all. The private bay is breathtaking! The hotel shows its age, but will forgo renos next year.

First time to Huatulco and to a Secrets Resort. Loved both. Rooms are incredibly comfortable - all have view of the bay (except those that walk onto the pool levels) ... The sand in this part of Mexico is coarse, tan sand (easier to wash off) .. it does get hot on one's feet. One must be careful with respect to the waves and undertow .. however, we were in the ocean daily. There are many pools - so never crowded.The snorkeling in this cove was not worth it .. we did not take the all day 7 Bays and Snorkeling tour (7 hr) but next time we will just take a cab to the National Park and snorkel there. The palapas are long rows (not individual) but we were able to enjoy the full day on the beach with good protection from direct sun. As the bay is not huge one cannot take 'long walk on the beach' as one does in the DR .. but no seaweed! Adults only - and more on the more 'mature' side .. so peaceful and quiet (perfect for us!). The restaurants are generally excellent (Burgundy, Tamarindo and Oceanis were our favouurites). We paid for Preferred status so had breakfast at Castaways most mornings. However, the buffet at the Market Grill was better than most buffets we have experienced. The staff were friendly and helpful We took one tour into town that we enjoyed .. We were there for 7 days and wished we had booked for longer (10 would be perfect). I am sure we will return.

My husband and I had an amazing time with friends at the Secrets Resort in Huatulco, Mexico. This was the second time we have been to this resort and both times our holiday was everything we hoped for and more. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were always so clean and well stocked. I loved our rooms with a balcony view of the ocean from every room. I especially enjoyed the shower, very relaxing. There was always a large iguana outside, sunning himself in the same spot on our floor. We spent time at both the pool and the beach every day. There is a perfect spot for snorkeling by the rocks at the one side of the bay. My husband and two of our friends saw whales breaching out of the water just beyond our bay, out in the ocean. I was happy to view them from the video that they took. The food was really good and there are quite a few restaurants to chose from. The Barefoot Grill by the pool provided delicious choices for meals like burgers, hotdogs, fries, guacamole and salsa, salads and ceviche. There was also a pizza oven and specialty food demonstrations set up next to the Grill on different days. The beer in a can was Aymstel. We took a 15 minute taxi ride into town. This resort has turned out to be our favourite holiday place.

It was a very nice place. We have enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and beautiful nature. The rooms were clean and had a nice furniture. Everything looked new. A staff was very friendly. The ocean was clean and it was fund to do snorkeling.

The resort was incredibly clean and efficient. Easy to navigate! Beautiful views from everywhere, including all the rooms. There were activities all day long, live music often, and excellent service! The staff was really top notch. The food was quite good and the restaurants were always available without a reservation. My one complaint was the beach which obviously isn’t the fault of the resort in any way. There was one area to sit - far away from the water, all together under large thatched roofs. I prefer spread out under palm trees and with some options for location… there was no shade on the beach other than the large roofs. The sand was also not walkable as it was so abrasive and hot. So as a beach person, this was a disappointment.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Castillo from February 26-March 05, and it was wonderful. The staff were amazing and the food was delicious and they offered varieties. The rooms were clean and of good size. The bathroom had a foul smell in the early mornings and there is a musical tour bus that goes around in the night and if your room is facing the street it will keep you up for a while. The beach club was our favourite, the food was amazing and the staff worked so hard to make the guests happy. We would return to the hotel Castillo.

The resort was very clean. Staff were accommodating and work hard! Rooms were clean and in excellent shape. As with other resorts, be careful in the shower as hard to stabilize hot and cold. Entertainment was very good. Food in ala cart excellent and buffets were good.

Had a wonderful time at Barcelo. Food was great. Italian and Seafood restaurants were very good. Service in the buffet and restaurants was A+. Room was nice and always clean. Would definitely return.

Resort is a very big and beautiful place. Not recommended for people with mobility issues. All the staff were very pleasant. Grounds were wonderful to explore. Lots of greenery and wild life. We really enjoyed our vacation.

We just returned from our trip to Huatulco which we booked thru trip central with Erin Thunder who helped us with the entire booking process, which she was amazing to deal with. We stayed at the Barcelo which was all common areas and rooms were very clean and well kept. The food was great we tried all food areas offered during our stay and it offered a great selection of dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. All the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The beach area was fantastic but you had up be up early to get your spot for the day. We will definitely stay there again in the future...it is a great location and will use trip central to book our return. Huatulco has the best weather we experienced and hotel didn't let us down at all.

This resort is advertised as 5 star, unfortunately, it doesn't live up to that billing. The weather is Huatulco was great, 90 deg F every day. Therefore the pool and ocean are necessities. There was a black flag every day at the beach, apparently due to crocodiles being in the area, thus making the ocean a "swim at your own risk" deal. The beach sand is very coarse, making footwear necessary. That left the pool. Which I would describe as an embarrasment to the Secrets brand. There were many tiles missing in the pool, that in itself, not really a big deal, there was mould every where around the pool. This is unacceptable. Tiles are a major fix, but mould is just lack of maimtenance. The Buffet was small, and had more of a caffeteria atmosphere than a resort Buffet. The food was adequate to get you to the next meal. Castaways was good for breakfast, however I went for supper one night, ordered the rib eye steak,medium rare, very hard to cut, even harder to eat. Not good enough. The ambience was good , as were the staff. The French, and Italian restaurant food was passable, however, unlike other Secrets Resorts that I have been to, no atmosphere/ decor , bright lights and again like caffeteria style. Unfortunate. The style and location of the resort is good. It is rumored to be getting renovated this spring ( 2025) that, and a management review would be welcomed. In closing, the weather made the trip for me. The small issues that kept showing up means that I would rate this resort no better than a 4 star. A fellow traveller rated it a 3 star. After renovations, this will be back to a 5 star in my opinion.

Our very first trip was 9 years ago to Las Brisas, Huatulco. All we've talked about was going back and finally we did just that and took 3 others with us. Our Superior Room was identical to what it was 9 years ago - very comfortable - amazing bed and pillows! We enjoyed the buffet's superb offerings daily. The A La Carte's that we went to were also fabulous: Solarium Steakhouse was great, the service was the highlight thanks to Wahn and Antonio! The beaches at Las Brisa's are beautiful - the sand is darker and more granular than the Mayan Riviera side. Swimming was wonderful - you can walk over to the coral reef and see fish and urchins too! We enjoy walking so getting around the resort was not difficult for us, but keep in mind it is a large resort with a lot of hills!! We simply love the simplicity of Las Brisas Huatulco. It's natural, authentic, cultural, gorgeous, and the customer service is top notch!

Let’s start with the positive Great Beach, rooms are clean. The rest is all negative the food was terrible. Drinks were awful unable to get any premium drinks unless you pay for the premium package. Not enough sun beds! If you get to the pool or beach around 8:00am you can forget getting any lounger as they are all reserved. Buffet was absolutely awful always out of ketchup plus long line ups for food. Almost impossible to get a bottle of water. Used the gym asked for a bottle as you only get 2 bottles in your room was met with a really rude person with attitude, wanting us to drink from dispensers that have been sitting out in 30 degree weather. NO THANK YOU!! Since when is water bottles not included this is a disgrace Barcelo should be embarrassed and ashamed

The beach, ocean, and weather were great! The sand was coarse and difficult to walk along because of the steep slope but it was a beautiful cove. The rooms were nice, beds and pillows were comfortable, the shower was always hot, and housekeeping did a good job. BUT had to wake up at 6:30am each day just to get a chair under the shade on the beach. Not enough shade or chairs near the pool or the beach, it was an absolute headache. I preferred bottled water because I was pregnant while traveling and basically had to beg for more bottles. Tired to get some at the gym and at the bars but only got dirty looks and apparently no one speaks English when you need something there. The buffet was terrible our first night (it was Mexican night) and we went to bed hungry. Breakfast and lunch buffets were hit and miss, sometimes good but never consistent and always seemed like they were running out of food and options. The restaurants had good service and better food but we ended up going across the street for dinner at the restaurant because the dinner buffets were never great. Booked a boat ride around lunch at the water activities center and when we showed up at 4pm, the employee actually said he didn’t feel like going out, and that it was too much work to set up the boats. Two days before it was too busy, the day before it was too windy. This was our last full day there and we left disappointed.

This hotel has us coming back each year. The staff are wonderful and very friendly. The food is great and a lot of variety. The rooms are very clean. The beach club also has wonderful staff and the food is amazing!

Resort is about 40 years old however 50 acres of land there is stunning. The resort has three beaches with calm ocean. It's good for swim and if you like snorkeling there are so many different types of fish to see. Very clean facilities and people who work there are so helpful. Food in two buffets is yummy and so many variety of food is there.

The hotel is spotless, food amazing and the staff and service are top notch. It's in a very covenient location. We love our time at this hotel with beautiful Mexican people! One visit, and you'll want to keep returning!

The room we stayed in was a little dated but we had a fantastic view! The beds are very comfortable. The choice of restaurants is very good. We loved Oceana and Seaside Grill. The pools are amazing! The beach is amazing, and the ocean water is clean and warm. We did a spa treatment (hydrotherapy and then a massage). Very nice! As expressed by many reviewers, the staff at this resort are amazing.

We really enjoyed our stay at this resort. When talking with a repeat guest while on our trip, she stated " you don't come for the accommodations, you come for the nature and grounds." She was right. The resort grounds, the beaches, the plants, and the wildlife are what make this place special. The group I was with stated the snorkeling right at the resort was better than any paid excursion they had taken. The staff are amazing and there is always something going on to participate in. The resort rooms are fine if your not picky. The age of the resort is definitely showing but its a clean resort. I will definitely return.

Good clean grounds and rooms. Beach is good and clean. Food was great except for Xmas. Check was bad but was for good for others. I will return but unsure when because direct flights. Ala cartes were good except for one.

Back to Brisas 14 years later. We came to this resort in 2010 and we were curious how it changed compared to back then. We have been to secrets, barcello and dreams since then. We love the huatulco area so here's what we thought. Pros. -25 min from airport. -Rooms were partually updated, bathrooms still need some work. We stayed in their basic room in Nubes section 3223, it was clean, a comfy king bed, ocean view with a large window, mini fridge with beers, pop & water restocked daily. AC worked fine ( a little loud but you get used to it), ceiling fan, walk in shower. -Service was excellent everywhere, from the cleaning staff, waiters, bar tenders, sports beach workers everyone was excellent. -Drinks were mostly consistent and very good, my favorite was the mango margarita. And if you want a espresso/ cappuccino just ask at any food area. -Food at buffet was good, nice variety and always tasty. Snack bar is great for basic natchos, tortillas, burgers etc. A la cartes were very good, we tried 3 Mediterranean, Seafood and Solarium. -We didn't use pool.(we are ocean people) but we did put our toes in and it was very warm and seemed like a lot of activities happening -The 3 beaches were amazing (best in all the hotel zone), snorkel beach was full of beautiful fish, a turtle, a sting ray...again amazing. Family beach was shallow and perfect for children and more nervous ocean people. Sports beach was our main choice, great swimming area plus all the toys such as paddle boards, kayaks, Hobbie cats. There were plenty loungers and never had a problem finding a chair. There is also drink servers always asking if we would like anything. Entertainment was great, there was a live band or dj every night to dance to.. Shows were quite good as well. Cons - too many people smoking all over the resort, usually in a family resort smoking is quite restricted. -If you aren't very mobile you will struggle to get around this resort. There is a tonne of walking, there are trams constantly driving around always ready yo bring you to your room and back, but it would still be a challenge for many., But we were totally fine and welcomed the exercise. -If you want a balcony you will have to upgrade $$$. Otherwise just a window. In conclusion would I return?? Yes I absolutely would, but at the right price point, until some updating and renovation on rooms and facilities it should be kept at a reasonable price.

Always a pleasure to stay at Las Brisas. Large resort with multiple beach accesses. Good food, accomodations and great staff. Close to Santa Cruz and La Crucecita for those who wish to venture out.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Santa Cruz. After working out a few minor problems, we were able to truly enjoy our stay. The staff was wonderful even tho English was a language not easily understood. Google translate will be your friend!

We stayed for 2 weeks and we had a 1 bedroom swim out suite .We had a wonderful time. The food was really good. It has really improved. The grounds were well manicured and our swim out pool was cleaned every day. The bars and bar staff were excellent. They had many evening buffets and shows with a meal. There was always something to do. The spa was great. We will be going back again next year!

This was our third time to Dreams, Huatulco and as usual the grounds, rooms, and staff were fantastic. We plan on going again! The Oceania Restaurant was our favorite and we enjoyed breakfast and dinner there most days. Overall, the selection at the buffet was not as good as it has been in past years, but the staff was great. The golf course was not open, it has never been open on our previous trips, as far as I am concerned, it does not exist and will never influence my decision to attend this area. A very special thanks to the Oceania Manager (Guillermo), Oceania Waiter/Comedian (Angel), Lobby Bar Manager (Omar), and a fantastic day server around the pools (Primitiva "Primie"), they made our stay...thank you!

We absolutely loved this resort. After a horrible experience in Puerto Vallarta last year, we were looking for something new and decided to try Huatulco. We could not have been more impressed. The resort is smaller than some of the neighbouring resorts, but everything about it was fantastic. The restaurants were great - the food was varied and tasty - even the pickiest eater would be able to find something that they enjoyed. The staff were phenomenal - every single person we encountered went above and beyond to ensure that our needs were met. The are 6 pools - three of them infinity pools overlooking a beautiful beach. Two of the pools were adults only. The clientele appeared to be a mixture of older couples and young families. We will absolutely go back to this resort again - we loved it.

Wel kept hotel, friendly, and helpful staff. We had a few issues with the toilet in our room, and staff were quick to respond and rectify the problem. Great breakfast buffet, lots of variety.. Pool well kept, and cleaned every morning. Pool was a bit warmer than I would have liked. Would highly recommend this hotel for anyone not looking for all inclusive. A great base to go from and explore the many great beaches in the area.

This hotel was very clean. Our room was cleaned daily with fresh bedding and towels. The only downfall was no bar fridge. Luckily we have friends who lent us a cooler. We had breakfast included and always fresh and delicious. Wasn’t the same old bacon, eggs and toast. Omelettes were fantastic!

I truly enjoyed all aspects of this resort, from the beaches, to food options, the beverages, the service was awesome and the quality of everything was fantastic! I had a couple of room issues upon arrival but they were resolved within 30 minutes of my complaint.

Villa Blanca staff and food are exceptional! I very much enjoyed the breakfast each day! The rooms are clean and comfortable. Improved lighting in the rooms would be nice, otherwise it was comfortable and just what we needed.

This is a very nice resort for the money. Very nice rooms, the property is spotless. The people mover trolleys are awesome and are constantly zipping around the resort, but there are a few areas where several steps are mandatory. Don't let the steps scare you off, there are thousands and thousands of people that come here every year that do just fine. Food - we found that the buffet is far superior to the a la carte restaurants, which is not unusual in our experience at all inclusive resorts. At this resort though, the a la carte restaurants cater to the authentic Mexican cuisine, so if that is not to your taste, then you will be better off sticking to the buffet restaurant. No need for the 5AM chair dance, lots of chairs both at the pool and the beach. This property has the best beach in the area, we spoke to many people that had been to Dreams and Secrets and said their beaches are almost unusable, but we were on the beach our entire stay. AMAZING SNORKELING right off the beach, which is why we booked here in the first place. Overall a great place for the price, but for us the evenings are just way to hot in Huatulco - it just doesn't cool off like the many other places we have been.

The resort was beautiful and the grounds were always looked after. The pools were amazing and we had a swim out that we used a lot with a floatie. The service was incredible and the people are extremely friendly, hospitable and very appreciative. I can’t say enough about how accommodating they were. The food was very good but Castaways was closed most of the time due to private events. This was frustrating for people who were preferred as they couldnt make use of that upgrade. Preferred is definitely not worth it at this resort. The Preferred lounge had snacks but they were left uncovered and were not very good and we aren’t picky eaters! However, we enjoyed the other restaurants, especially the French and Italian. We found having water shoes was essential to walk down and along the beach since the sand was extremely coarse and very hot. The water was rough with a strong undertow but once you got in further, it was very refreshing. We came to this resort knowing this about the beach but wanted to try the Pacific Ocean and avoid any seaweed. However, next time we will go to a resort that has the soft white sand and turquoise waters and risk having some seaweed present. We got a local taxi to take us into La Crucecita, the closest town that has the famous church. We wanted to buy a few souvenirs and felt safe the whole time but didn’t like how everyone pressured us to see their shop and buy something. I guess it goes with the territory and being a slow time of year for them, they feel the pressure too. Overall it was a beautiful, peacefult resort. By 11pm everything was quiet and it was just what we wanted to get away and relax.

Well maintained grounds. Beautiful scenery. Very large and spread out, but never felt crowded.Wonderful clear beaches, and clean pools.Large comfortable rooms, with amazing views.Friendly staff, Only compliant would be the number of stairs,which make it difficult for people with mobility issues.

Hotel was clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beach club was a short ride away. The food was very good there. Unfortunately the food at the hotel was not as good. Also the last 3 days the pool was taken out of service.

Dreams is perfectly located near the airport and the local town. The resort is amazing and the food is fantastic. Sometimes only certain restaurants are open but there is always something going on. If you are a planner, use the app to plan and go to all the restaurants. Beach is awesome and there is snorkelling, kayaking, sailing available - great swimming beach. I loved the infinity pools with the spectacular ocean view. Chairs by the pool are easy to find and you do not need to get up early!! Staff are wonderful and pleasant. I would definitely go back.

This was the worst holiday that we have ever experienced which makes us realize that you definitely get what you pay for. The nightmare began two days before we left. When we booked last minute, we were not made aware that the hotel pool was to be shut down during our stay, for a scheduled maintenance and repair. It had to be retiled and regrouted. We definitely would not have booked this vacation if we had have known this in advance of booking. Air Canada Vacations sent us a memo regarding this issue 2 days before departure. This made the only other pool (at the beach club) severely overcrowded, so we were unable to swim in the 34 degrees Celsius heat. Also the ocean's undertow made it impossible to swim there. As for the hotel, the exterior looked nice but that was as far as that went. The inside is dingy and dark. It feels like walking into a basement! The rooms are very basic (white) with little decor. The beds were comfortable, which was a good thing as severe food poisoning put us in them for 3 days straight. The restaurant served a small selection of basic food which overall was terrible. We noticed that they were recycling food. Breakfast included dried up broccoli, meatballs and cut up hot dogs (they were calling sausages) which had been served at dinner on previous nights. One dinner included chicken wings which we mistakenly ate at the beach club buffet the following day at lunch which brought on our food poisoning. Also the hotel restaurant was crowed and noisy. Most of the hotel staff ignored us and catered to their Mexican guests (which was 90% of the hotel clientele). This might be a language issue as most staff didn't speak any English. The ones that attempted were tipped well. The only plus side is that the hotel is right in the town of Santa Cruz and a short walk to restaurants, the town square and the public beach (which is where we had to cool off).

This is our third visit to hotel Castillo. We must remember that the majority of clientele are locals which is great to see because of the growing middle class in Mexico. That being said we managed to find something to eat for breakfast and lunch and only eat one dinner in two weeks. Huatulco has some great restaurants so dinners were great but costly as prices have doubled over the years. We did enjoy the beach club but the beach it is on is nice to look at but difficult to access because of the rough ocean and hot hard to walk on sand. My biggest complaint is that you feel like a second class citizen because paying guests receive nice drinks in glass and have a separate menu. I guess prepaying for our all inclusive does not count as paying guest at the beach club! I must acknowledge the excellent service at the beach club and front deck, at the hotel the services was hit and miss. Unfortunately l will not be returning as for the money being charged for the quality of room and services there are so many other choices!

We have been to this resort 5 times. Love the wildlife, variety of beaches, the gym and staff! This resort isnt for people who have mobility issues, but that is what we love about it, lots of walking and enjoying the sea air and view. Thank you for making our vacation a true get away!

We absolutely loved our trip to Secrets Huatulco. The king room with a jacuzzi on the patio overlooking the ocean was lovely. The room was clean, modern and spacious. The beach and ocean were pristine. The different pools were a lot of fun. The friendliness of the staff and the service provided were top-notch. The view from the upper level of the property was spectacular. We watched the sunrise on the treadmill from the gym too. We enjoyed breakfast at the Market cafe daily, coffee from Coco, and surprisingly room service was excellent. The Barefoot grill also had great fresh food for lunch. However, unfortunately, the food at the restaurants for dinner was edible/average at best. Dinners really were the only downside at this resort as everything else was excellent. I cannot say enough about the friendliness of the staff and the wonderful conversations we had throughout our stay. Also, the staff running the outdoor activities, kayaking, paddleboarding, volleyball, and archery were super fun. In addition, going into town was safe and easy and highly recommended. This resort is excellent value for money and would recommend it.

This was our third time staying at this location, total disappointment. Upon arrival the air conditioning in our room was not working, we submitted a service request and were total within an hour it would work, it didn’t. A second request on the next day, still not working. We requested another room and were told, no other rooms were available. We asked for a fan, none available. Temperature in our room was anywhere from 26 to 27.5. When talking to some of the other guests we were total the resort had this issue for over 3 weeks. Pool chairs were scarce, in previous stays, you could ask and someone would bring out a pool chair. The food was good, not as good as our previous stays. Overall the resort could use some updating

Just returned from dreams Huatulco what a beautiful side of Mexico. Safest place I have ever felt kind people who are proud and the cleanest city I have ever seen. Dreams Huatulco needs updating desperately however the staff and surroundings made up for all that. Spent every day on the beach ocean was so warm I never once used the pools (6) of them which were also gorgeous. Can't wait to return

My partner and I booked a stay here without really knowing what we were getting into. Upon arrival and throughout our stay, we were continuously pleasantly surprised and impressed. The decor and architecture of the space is so great! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The breakfast is amazing. The location is great. Overall we had an amazing experience here and would love to return.

The hotel itself was fine. Clean, maintained well. The staff were friendly. The food at the buffet was not very good. You could usually find something that was ok. The breakfast restaurant on the 7th floor pool area was good and the Italian a la cart was good.

We took it solely because we were meeting friends and the price was good. The food was adequate but not somewhere we would stay looking for three meals per day. The breakfast was boring and same everyday but enough to get you to lunch. Dinner was terrible for the two nights we are there. Staff great. It suited our needs but not if your looking for an all inclusive for a week

Wonderful weather during winter months, great beaches - clean, calm water, great pool selection , very friendly staff, big food selection at the buffet, delicious food in a la cart restaurants, above expectation. Fun aquafit classes in mid day, however, lack of other entertainment such as dancing or Zumba . Evenings were quite boring. Disappointed to find out that only vip get top shelf drinks, something I would have consider if given the choice or option

The resort is well maintained. The bartenders were always quick with a drink, but I'm pretty sure the alcohol is watered down. The food at the buffets was blah. Same things everyday. The Italian a la carte is amazing. We also tried the seafood and Mexican which were just okay. Be warned, a lot of the food is spicy!

Good layout, awesome staff, great selection of food options. The app provided by the resort is great for reference. You can find which restaurants are open and any other information you might need ( special events, shows etc)

Everyone was super friendly and the hotel was very clean! There was so many things to do both on site and off site. The food was good. The buffets werent the best, my suggession is to always go to the grill. The Asian and Italian restaurants were superb! Huatulco was an amazing place and we will definitely go again!

I enjoyed my stay the rooms were clean and very cool. Wish they had a couple more beers on the fridge. Beach was clean and easy to get a chair. Ocean was very clean and just the right temperature. Food was great never had a bad meal the whole week. Only knock I had was there was only one beach bar open and you had to wait forever to get a drink.

This was amazing ! The food was plentiful and tasty. The three infinity pools over looked the ocean. What more can you ask ?? The chair holding was a bit of an issue. Solution was to go to another pool area other than the infinity ones . Rooms were comfortable. Did not spend much time in the room. Area was clean .If you want a restful , quite place ,read a book, or just relax and enjoy the ocean this is a great place . I would recommend to other and would return to this hotel.

Nice resort just to many stairs for us a really lot. Beaches were small but ok for swimming food was good not to warm at buffet restaurants were good but didn’t like Mexican much. Shuttle ran very frequently and only from room to restaurant or lobby drop off point nothing between. Would not go back because of stairs

We stayed in December, 2 weeks. Our room was in Pueblo Montanas, we had a gorgeous bay view. The room was spacious, and had lots of storage places. Just a few minutes walk to the lobby and quite a lot of stairs on the other side to the beach. We love walking so it was not a problem, considered it like an exercise. The Manzanilla beach is amazing- warm clear water, no waves, lots of fish- excellent snorkel! It was the best reef right at the hotel! The other beach is a bit wavy- for those, who love to have fun swimming with the waves. We loved Manzanilla. There were lots of interestjng birds on the property and animals too. The staff/service is very good and efficient. A la carts restaurants- we loved Maroccan, Mediterranian and Pescado. We heard from other people, that there was a belly dance at the Maroccan some years ago- would be nice to get it back. Absolutely gorgeous decor there- low tables, pillows, lamps, etc. The food was yummy everywhere- buffet and a la carts. So many choices, gluten free bread. Two thumbs up to the chefs. Capuccino - ?❣️ We liked everything at this resort and definitely will come again. Thank you, Las Brisas employees, you do a lot of hard work! Literally, running like busy bees, sweating, to please visitors. Highly recommend this resort. But keep in mind- you have to be in good physical condition to enjoy it in full- there are lots of steep hills, stairs, the property is big. I

we love coming to Las Brisas Huatulco. The rooms are comfortable, love the views. We keep coming back for the guaranteed good weather, excellent swimming beaches, and tennis/pickleball. The food is very good, lots of choice and never had any issues with water. This is an excellent hotel.

This was our fourth stay at Park Royal Huatulco, big rooms in a small, quiet, comfortable resort built into the steep hillside for great views. Staff are amazing, everything is clean and everyone is cared for! 2 pools, beautiful views & beach sitting area (ocean is not very swimmable at resort). The resort foods are fresh, local, and basic, healthy offerings. Restaurants and shops are available in the resort and across the street, and it's a quick taxi ride away from La Crucecita, snorkeling beaches and more! A calm quiet "hidden gem" (so don't tell others, ha ha!)

All-inclusive in every sense of the word. Hardly any reason to stay when considering the various beaches, many restaurants, and sights to see within the resort grounds. Look forward to returning to Huatulco.

Second time here this year. A different vibe from our February stay. More Mexican families, possibly due to their big holiday in November, also lots of Canadians, mainly repeat customers. Good value for the money paid. The location is central and walking distance to the lovely Chahue Beach. Yes you can walk to town but the heat is exhausting and taxis are only 35 pesos. We had a third floor room, #323, lots of stairs but that was ok for us as it’s top floor so no overhead noise. There is an elevator on one side. The ground floor walkout rooms are the most coveted being that they are the only ones to have a sit out patio. Unfortunately the balconies on the rest are too small to sit out. Rooms are very basic. Staff are excellent. The included breakfast is plentiful. There is a tour desk so take advantage of that. We did the 7 bay tour and the coffee plantation and enjoyed both. It’s very hot in Huatulco so be prepared. We spent a lot of time around the pool. Enjoy!

We had a wonderful time at Secrets. The resort was clean and the staff was most accomodating. Food was good. We got the preferred package and the room was beautiful but you dont get much else so I cant recommend this package. Al in all we would most likely return another time

The property speaks for itself. Every inch is in great shape, from the beaches to the restaurants. There is an amazing choice of food for every diet. Not a single thing I wouldn’t eat again. But better than all of this was the service. Every single member is genuinely there to help and make connections with all guests. The smiles were real , the kindness was unmatched. Well done to the entire service staff.

Geographically beautiful and natural. Well manicured grounds and gardens. Rooms and facilities very clean. 4 beaches, 3 for swimming with ample lounge chairs and palapas provided. Friendly, helpful staff. Generous availability to booking the a la carte restaurants. Easy access to the bars and servers were constantly available to take drink orders on the beach. The buffet had a huge amount of food choices, none of the main courses offered were repeated during our 7 day stay. The evening shows are small scale but entertaining. Highly recommend this resort and looking forward to a return visit.

As this was our first time at an All Exclusive Resort we were not sure what to expect. The Barcelo resort was beautiful- the staff were amazing, the food was great and the pool and beach were fantastic! We didn't have a single complaint and would return again in a heartbeat. Thank you for such a relaxing time!

We've stayed here before and enjoyed it again. It's very comfortable and quaint. There are a few staff to point out, that we're amazing....Mahi, Josue, Ximena, Viktor.....thank you for being so friendly, cheerful and so good at what you do. Also, a shout out to the hotel and staff that have the cats on property spayed/neutered....very responsible
