Catalonia Riviera Maya: Catalonia Riviera Maya exceeded all our expectations
Our stay at this four-star Cancun resort exceeded all expectations with truly exceptional service and stunning oceanfront views. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every need was met with a warm smile. Amenities were top-tier, featuring pristine pools and a relaxing spa. Dining was an absolute highlight; the on-site restaurants offered an incredible variety of flavorful, gourmet dishes that rivaled high-end city eateries. From the immaculate Privileged rooms to the vibrant evening entertainment, every single detail felt luxurious and well-cared-for. We cannot wait to return to this tropical paradise for our next vacation.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Beautiful but a few inconveniences
The resort over all was beautiful but unfortunately there were a few downfalls. I book for my family of 6 (3 being children under 9) to stay in the privileged room, we were suppose to get 2 queen beds and a sofa bed. When we got to the hotel they said they did not have any privileged rooms available with 2 queen beds for the entire week. We were than asked if we wanted to go to their sister resort in cancun which we declined because we had other family members with in another room. Due to the inconvenience, they said they would bring us an extra mattress and also an extra cushion for the sofa bed in our room, but was not given any of these. Also we wanted to book hibachi but again they said they were not able to accommodate 6 people for the entire week we were there.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Amazing resort
I will start my review from the welcome and the receptionist in the restore was excellent The room very clean and comfortable also the room service excellent The pools was great and clean and the beach was good and we appreciate the workers how they clean it. But the pool hours open they closed very soon should be close a little bit late. At least keep one pool be close late. The restaurant are amazing specially the privilege restaurant but the 2 buffet decent. I extremely willing to play mine gulf and tennis but unfortunately during the day is very hot and we disappointed is close at 5.00 pm so should be keep ad night open with lights and projectors! Also missing tennis table The support room was excellent The spa was a mazing but my our son very close to 16 years jut by one month for the spa and the gym age rule should be more flexible specially with the parents Another things bothering us the exclusive team very pushy and they call us few times in early morning few time I told them we're not interested but still they tried to explain to us !! But over all staff in resort are friendly and respectful you're a mazing resort

Catalonia Royal Bavaro: Family vacation
We have been to this resort last summer and this summer . We love this resort . Rooms can be updated and need to give all towels in size . Food is good steak out on adults only other one sucks with Italian sucks. Beach not go but we went to 2 beach’s off resort. They just need to take all the towels off the lawn chairs at night because people don’t know . Bar in pool should stay open until pool closes. Fridge should alway be filled with what is missing . We are a big family with 3 guys that can eat and every restaurant we ordered each 2 to 3 plates at a time and we finished everything.there is a little shop down the beach it’s a nice walk down the beach even through the it looks like a lake. Entertainment at night was good always something. The beach party was wild . Casino needs an update and more machines. Need to update the people that work there. Someone was unfriendly. Do the boggie Excursions do the one with the beach same price longer and much better.

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Almost perfect resort.
We travelled as a family group of 11 from 3 provinces in Canada and had a great time. The food was good and the beach was kept pretty clear of sargassum. I use a mobility walker and found it easy to get everywhere including the beach. There were a few areas that left room for improvement. It would be better if there was more than one spot to get beach towels and also they need more towels because they seemed to run out frequently. An app to book a la cartes would have been a better way to go. The system they have made it difficult to get bookings. And lastly, we didn't like that there weren't doors between the living area, bedroom and bathroom. There was no privacy to get changed after showering. Ok if you are travelling as a couple but not ideal if you are travelling with children or friends.

Catalonia Yucatan: Feedback on our stay at Catalonia Yucatan
Hi Steve, Thank you for arranging such a wonderful vacation for me and my little family! We had a great time at Catalonia Mexico and truly appreciate all of your help in making the trip happen. As we discussed over the phone yesterday, while our overall stay was enjoyable, we did encounter a few issues that impacted our experience. Upon arrival, we were assigned a room that was in very poor condition and not what we were expecting. Since we were staying for an entire week, we decided it was worth upgrading to a more comfortable room, which cost us approximately $535 CAD—money we had originally set aside for an excursion. For your reference, the original room had several maintenance issues, including: * A toilet that made a loud squeaking noise. * Rusty bathroom faucets. * A broken in-room safe. * Overall, the room appeared quite worn and poorly maintained. Additionally, we found the buffet options to be quite average. The menu was repetitive throughout the week, and many of the main dishes consisted of pork, which our family does not eat. As a result, we ended up spending approximately USD $70–100 per day on meals outside the resort. I wanted to share this feedback with you, as I know you value your clients’ experiences. If possible, I would appreciate it if you could forward my comments to the appropriate team at the resort or your supplier so they are aware of the issues we encountered. Thank you again for all your assistance. Despite these challenges, we still enjoyed spending quality time together as a family, and I appreciate everything you did to help us plan the trip. Kind regards, Ayesha

Catalonia Royal La Romana: All we love
Once again we had great 9 days at this beautiful place ! The ocean , food , hotel layout , rooms , drinks , all great ! Trip was smooth from begging to the end ! I’d just give low rating on the service at lobby bar and beach bar . There is no service , if you want drinks you need to get it yourself ! We also had very unpleasant excursion to Saona Island , organized by hotel staff Francisco . That was more like nightmare than pleasant day trip .

Catalonia Royal Tulum: Loved it as a 1st time
We recently stayed at Catalonia Royal Tulum and had an amazing experience from start to finish. The resort is beautiful, with a stunning beach, well-maintained grounds, excellent food, and friendly staff who made us feel welcome throughout our stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the atmosphere was relaxing and perfect for a getaway. We especially enjoyed the beach, the variety of restaurants, and the overall service provided by the resort team. A special thank you to Shannon Aishford, who helped us book this trip. She was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and made the entire booking process smooth and stress-free. Her recommendations were spot on, and thanks to her assistance we had a wonderful vacation experience. We would definitely recommend Catalonia Royal Tulum to anyone looking for a relaxing adults-only resort in Mexico and would happily return in the future.

Catalonia Yucatan: First All-Inclusive Trip
We were greeted with the nicest staff at Yucatan hotel. We arrived early before check-in time but they allowed us to eat and use all that was available in the resort which was really nice. The food was great and many options. Rooms get cleaned every day which is a plus. The pools were perfect, but the beach.. the sargassum was worse this time around. They have activities for both kids and adults which kept us entertained. Overall, we would love to come back. We were treated well and taken good care of from the time we landed till when it was check out time.

Catalonia Playa Maroma: Lovely resort
The hotel grounds were very lush and well kept. We liked the shady paths from the lobby to the rooms. The buffet was really well organized with lots of choice and the staff from the hostesses taking us to our table to those serving snd cleaning up were all very friendly. We liked our room 6202, it was spacious and having a ceiling fan as well as ac was great. We always had lots of hot water. Our room looked over the courtyard and our balcony had privacy. We spent a lot of time on the beach under the palm trees. The sea was rough for a couple of days and later in the week there was a lot of seaweed but that is not within the resort’s control. They did make every effort to clear the beach. We were disappointed with the steak in Starkville as we’d seen so many rave reviews but it wasn’t good the night we were there! The bar at the beach makes the best drinks and speciality coffees and we enjoyed the creperie.

The hotel food was extremely good, the rooms were extremely good as well. The cleanliness of the entire hotel was extremely good as they even washed down the sunbathing chairs nightly. Catalonia Yucatan: Great Time!
The hotel was very nice, clean and well kept...staff were wonderful and food was good...we flew air canada and our package said we had a mini bar which we did not, and we were supposed to have a hair dryer and we did not...first resort i have ever been too with no hairdryer...i wasnt a fan of the beach. The sargassum was bad but that was the time of year...without the sargassum the beach still wasnt great. One thing i did not like was the fact that the 2 resorts were together and you could use both...Mayan side got full use of everything but Yucatan side you were limited to what you could use on Mayan side. We chose Yucatan because it was smaller. I DO NOT like the use of the word Privileged...please use a different word if someone has upgraded...all in all the resort was ok and a great time was had

Catalonia Yucatan: Lovely resort
The resort is small (compared to other Catalonia Resorts) but beautiful and everything is so close to the beach and pools. Rooms are dated but clean and maid service was great. Food was good however it would have been nice to have more options to ala Cartes, as buffet eating does get tiring. However, no complaints on food or drinks. Entertainment team is amazing. Guadalupe, server at restaurant was amazing and such a beautiful person. Make sure to go into Puerto Aventuras and walk the area and enjoy the restaurants and markets.

We recently stayed at this resort and had an amazing experience. Everything from start to finish exceeded our expectations. The resort itself was beautiful, with great decor and a really relaxing, well thought out atmosphere. The vibe throughout the property was exactly what we were looking for, laid-back but still polished. The beach was a highlight for us, clean, well maintained, and a perfect place to unwind. We also really enjoyed the food, with plenty of options and consistently good quality across the board. We loved all the sit down food restaurants for all 3 meals of the day. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to come back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great getaway.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Exceeded our expectations!
Resort is smaller than most. Making it easy to navigate and not much walking distance between venues. It's also older than most but is in fantastic shape. The grounds are well cared for. Our room was a fully renovated, "Premium Deluxe". Pools are great. The Beach is not. Although posted reserving lounge chairs is not permitted, you have to be at either by 8am to reserve your lounge chair or you could be out of luck to find a spot with any shade. The food/drink were definitely the star of the show for the price point. Ala Cartes, Snack Bar, Buffets and Bars were all very good. The resort has a 'no smoking' policy anywhere on the property which we also appreciated. We would return to this resort without hesitation.

Catalonia Playa Maroma: Great resort
This is one of the best resorts we have been to regarding food and service. We opted for the Privilege upgrade which allowed us a-la-carte meals for all breakfasts, lunches (at BLoved restaurant) and dinners, and a room near the beach/pool/a-la-carte restaurants. I would definitely recommend this option. The wait service at BLoved is first class! The beach is excellent. Nice soft sand and plenty of shade under the palm trees. No problem getting a lounger. Unfortunately, we were unable to swim in the ocean during the middle six days of our 10-day visit due to an early infestation of sargassum. The resort did their best to remove the seaweed (working all day removing dump trucks full of the stuff) but they have no control over Mother Nature. This resulted in the pool area being pretty busy but we were still able to get a lounger. We had breakfast at the buffet (which is beside the main lobby) a few times and found the food to be quite good there too. The resort is (essentially) located in the jungle which they have done a good job of preserving. Lots of wildlife such as coatis (which "own" the place), spider monkeys, etc. The animals don't bother you but don't leave any food in an unattended beach/pool bag or the coatis will help themselves. We didn't attend any shows, so I can't comment on that. The tennis/pickle ball facility looked great, but I wasn't able to "hook up" with any players. It would be nice if the resort offered a "partner find" list. Overall, a very nice resort which we would certainly return to.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Relaxing Tropical Resort with Beautiful Grounds, Great Service, and Minor Drawbacks
Gorgeous, lush tropical grounds that are beautifully maintained, with plenty of shade and trees taller than the buildings. Our renovated room had fully functioning A/C, two queen-size beds, and a garden view. It was conveniently located right next to both the beach and the pool. Housekeeping service was excellent throughout our stay. The buffet could feel a bit repetitive, but the wide variety of options made it easy to switch things up daily. It was especially nice having a buffet close to the beach. The à la carte restaurants were good, and the service across the resort was consistently good. That said, the buffet could benefit from more staff, as tables weren’t always cleared promptly during busy times. We didn’t try room service, so we can’t comment on that, but we really enjoyed the coffee shop. The entertainment team did a great job, and the pool was clean and appeared quite new. As for the beach, there is some seaweed in April, but staff clear it early each morning, so there’s very little during the day. Otherwise, the beach is clean and free of trash. The PURE Chill-Out Bar on the beach (reserved for Privileged guests) serves premium brands, and the drinks there were excellent. Overall, the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a minor issue with the safe (our mistake), which was resolved quickly. The phone line in our room wasn’t working, but since we were in the lobby daily, it wasn’t a major inconvenience—we simply used our cell phone when needed. We also didn’t receive beach towels in our room as part of the Privileged package, but it was easy enough to get them from the towel kiosk. The only downside is that the resort isn’t within walking distance of local shops, so you’re limited to what’s available on-site at resort prices. That said, if we return to Punta Cana, we would likely choose this resort again.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Beautiful @
The Resort itself was breathtaking! Our room was perfect! Rm # 5024. Unfortunately there wasn't much of a beach area for walking, but the walk to the Marina and all it's attractions made up for it. First time at a resort where the food at the buffet was the same pretty much each day. Thankfully all was very tasty. Did notice however that it was more centered to family's than adult couples. Note: the Lobby Bar should really have more live entertainment as that's the only place to go afterwards when everything is closed to mingle with people. Plus, bartenders at the lobby bar definitely have an attitude when it comes to the last half hour of closing. That was what we did not appreciate. Did not like the " lights out" feeling after 11:00pm. Not everyone wants to do the Disco.

Catalonia Royal Bavaro: Great first resort!
First resort vacation for the two of us and we had a lovely time! Great location - close to the airport, but it felt tucked away. Grateful we went for the adult-only option, but also had access to the full resort. Beach was great with lots of beautiful trees, though it was sometimes tough to find a spot with so many people saving chairs. Staff were friendly & helpful, particularly Hansel who coordinated activities. Room was nice, and felt comfortable rather than a sterile grey/white copy of something you could find anywhere. Food was fine, but not worth a return trip. And, when they said they had 'archery', they meant a single bow that we lined up to shoot a couple of times. Great to be able to kayak out on the ocean!

Catalonia Royal Tulum: Disappointed
The nature surrounding the hotel is probably the only aspect that fully meets expectations. The property truly feels like a jungle: monkeys, coatis, capybaras, and squirrels freely move around the grounds. The walk to the pool and lobby feels like a stroll through a natural park, which is definitely one of the strongest points of the resort. We stayed in a Privileged Club room in the “renovated” section. In reality, the renovation feels very basic and cosmetic, and it does not address some underlying issues. In our bathroom, there was visible mold on the mirror, weak water pressure in the shower, and an unpleasant sewage-like smell, which may be related to plumbing issues. For a hotel positioned at this level, this was disappointing. Service, however, is largely driven by the staff, who genuinely try their best. Reception, beach service, and housekeeping teams work very well. Special mention goes to the reception staff and the main restaurant team. Room cleaning was also consistently good, and there are no complaints regarding the staff themselves. At the same time, it felt like the hotel may be operating with a reduced number of employees, especially during the low season, which seems to affect overall efficiency and service flow. The beach is another strong point — it is beautiful, clean, and seaweed is regularly removed, which keeps it in excellent condition. The main drawback is the food. In our experience, it does not meet the standards of a higher-category resort and feels closer to a 3-star level. Breakfast lacks some expected premium items such as smoked salmon, and meat dishes and steaks were of low quality and not well prepared. After speaking with other guests, this impression appears to be quite common. Overall, the hotel markets itself as a premium property, but in reality, it feels more like a mid-range resort. The nature and parts of the service are strong, but the room quality and food significantly lower the overall experience.

Catalonia Royal Bavaro: Never Going Back
Our stay at Catalonia was… an experience. Let’s call it “character building.” Check-in took a solid 50+ minutes, highlighted by one staff member that looked lost, that was on a never-ending radio call. Meanwhile, we just stood there… (there were 3 people in a line up) The service was a mixed bag: most waiters stared like we personally ruined their day, but shoutout to the two absolute legends who actually smiled and helped us --- true MVPs. The room had a strong “vintage humidity” vibe. No ventilation, musty bedding, and even our clothes joined the scent club by day two. The toilet was backed up as we arrived (1am) - the plumber showed up the next day to fix it. The soaker tub stopper was leaking water so you couldn't fill up the tub with water. All could have been checked and fixed before our arrival. Day one, we got an 8AM wake-up call (after arriving past midnight) from guest services, who then proceeded to WhatsApp-bomb us and eventually escort us *surprise!* to a sales pitch disguised as lunch. Nothing says “vacation” like being held hostage over a travelers club presentation. The scenery? 50/50. Half beautiful, half “let’s go back to the room… oh wait.” Would we come back? - Never.

Catalonia Yucatan: Amazing
We had a wonderful stay at this resort. Everything was excellent — the property was very clean, well-maintained, and beautifully organized. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always helpful, which made our experience even more enjoyable. ? The activities were especially great — very fun, well planned, and offered something for everyone. We really loved that part of the trip and it made our stay more exciting. ? If there’s one area that could be improved, it would be the buffet. The food was good, but the options were quite repetitive and didn’t change much from day to day. A bit more variety would make the experience even better. Overall, we had an amazing time and would definitely recommend this resort. ?✨

Catalonia Royal Tulum: Resort was pleasant but not amazing
Booked with Sunwing, operated by WestJet. Non-smoking resort. Received emails from Sunwing, travel docs and QR code for transfer from Sunwing but check-in was done via the WestJet app. Easy. Sunwing also sends links to pay the entry fee but only a few days before. I like to have everything ready so I would have liked it to be sent sooner. The Cancun airport is a mess. Took over an hour to get our luggage, they changed carousels on us without updating the boards, we knew from the murmurs occurring. The hotel transfer was a disorganized mess. Waited in one huge line just to be told to wait in another smaller line. Finally one of the reps got us on a bus. Was very I organized. Total airport time - 3hours. We still had a 1.5hour ride to the hotel. Hotel check-in was nice. Fresh juice, cold towel. Hotel check-out was shady. Had to pay the environmental fee which they advised when we arrived but they did not provide change - even though I paid in pesos and had changed bills a few days before. Staff are super friendly especially at the beach buffet. Lots of wild life running around, across the paths, in the tress. Room was on the 3rd floor so lots of steps and no elevator. Room was clean, lots of towels, including beach towels. Fridge packed with drinks and snacks. Bottles of water a plenty. Being in building 1, room was loud to traffic noise and can hear wild life from the door. Also looks a bit dated but not grungy or stuffy. Pool was nice. Too warm on some days but clean. Activities ar the pool. Beach was soft sand and clean. Lots of chairs available. Water was rough because it was windy that week but when it was not windy water was clearer and wavy. There was beach beverage service, they came by often. There was some sargassum but the hotel staff was constantly ensuring it was cleaned off the beach. Food/restaurants. The food at the beach restaurant is good for both breakfast and dinner. It closes at 3pm and you have to make a reservation for one of the specialty restaurants for dinner. There are 6 of them but if you don’t like the food there is only the 24hr room service. Entertainment was good. There is an information sheet in the lobby of your building. The list does not say if the event is taking place in the lobby or by the pool. Bars are at the lobby and pool. The bar at the pool changes hours. Sometimes it closes at 9pm other times 2am but no listing as to when that is. There are 6 buildings to total. The exclusive club members get building 6 which is by the beach. There are staff that ask often to join the Exclusive club and take part in an hour timeshare like discussion.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Amazing resort!!
Loved our stay at the Catalonia Riviera Maya. March 2026. 2 adults and 2 older teens. The family suite worked out well. Spacious enough for the 4 of us. The room was very clean and the housekeeping service was great. We had the Privileged package which gave us access to a smaller separate pool, a dedicated beach chair area and a dedicated bar. We spent most of our time at the Privileged pool but did use other areas of the resort for activities (volleyball etc ). Finding chairs at the pool was never an issue and the practice of reserving chairs with towels didn’t have much of an impact as it was clearly posted not to do so. The food options were great. The buffet had a nice variety, lots of fresh fruit and veggies and regional dishes. I loved that it wasn’t centered around North American style fried foods. The A La Carte restaurants that we ate at were some of the best all inclusive A La Carte meals that we have ever had. The drinks were top notch. All made to order in a blender, not from slush machines. Being in the gated community of Puerto Aventuras made this better than the average all inclusive because we could leave the resort to walk around town and always felt safe doing so. The ability to walk 10 minutes and play a round of golf was a bonus. We rented a golf cart to explore the town which was fun. I would recommend this as a family friendly place. Not big on night life but that suited us. The shows were phenomenal. Very well done. Not too cheesy. Some very talented people in them. We would return to this resort and highly recommended it.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Beautiful Resort!
Just got back March 12, 2026. We upgraded to privilege which is located close to the beach. Large hotel with lots of walking which was fine with us. Here are my thoughts: Location & Beach: the location is pretty good but a good bus ride away if you wanted to go to Saona Island which is close to La Rowana. The Hotel is close to Punta Cana Airport & it is located on a strip where there are beautiful beaches. The beach at this hotel is very good and it has a sand bar & coral reef that’s in front of the hotel but behind the barriers however many ignored the barriers (ropes) and went beyond as you can stand up on the sand bar. Based on what I saw, the water was between knee to waist deep. That particular area had nice turquoise water which was beautiful to see. Value (price vs quality) & Rooms: the value was good. The suite we had was big, quite nice, clean & located close to the pool and beach. Our suite Rm 718 had 2 showers, a toilet, bidet & 2 sinks which was convenient. The bed was comfy however the pillows were too low for me. Nice touch with the umbrella which we did use, bedroom slippers, safe & laundry bag. Maid service cleaned the rooms daily. There is a Casino on site which we did not use, a games room, kids area and a nightclub where we did go in once however the music was playing way too loud. You were given pool cards which were exchanged for pool towels located by the pool. Food: I would say you get your money’s worth as there are many places there for food choices. Restaurants - Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Steakhouse (our favourite) & 2 buffet’s (main & by the pool). The buffet had a selection of various foods and it was pretty good, I expected worse. By the pool during the day there is bar-b-q meats with rice & potatoes and close to the kids area there is an area where you can have pizza. By the shopping centre there is a cafe/coffee shop where you can have your choice of tea, coffee, cappuccino and desserts. There is also the theatre where each night there is some event happening. Services: I would say my biggest pet peeve was the service and I have experienced this in every resort I have stayed in the DR. If DR would place some focus on training some of their staff in learning to speak basic English I do believe that the service reviews would improve greatly. I would say 90% of the staff do not speak or understand English so it is quite frustrating as a guest & I am sure also to the workers. They do not understand what we are requesting or asking majority of the time and it comes across as rude or indifferent but in fact they really do not understand English. In addition, they could improve our impression by smiling a lot more, many do not smile or acknowledge you when you are trying to get their attention. I was impressed by 1 staff member at the service desk who also spoke good English. His name is Jose and I believe he may be a Supervisor as the person I was dealing with called him over and said this was his boss. He is young and wears spectacles. I had a complaint went to see him and he resolved the issue right away. He was calm, professional & even went an extra mile to compensate for the inconvenience by having a small bottle of rum delivered to my room which was impressive. Any activities by the pool area or whenever any staff member was speaking, it was always in Spanish. As a result, we English speaking guests did not know what was happening but tried to figure things out when we shouldn’t have to do that.

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Never disappoints - 4th visit
This was our fourth visit to the Catalonia, we can’t find better quality or value. The food is high-quality, smoked salmon in the morning, 5th avenue outdoor lunch, great à la cart restaurants for dinner. A beautiful beach with very little sargasm, plenty of chairs, plenty of palm trees. large beautiful room in building three, overlooking the pool. A beautiful terrace to enjoy a good book and a drink. A wonderful entertainment staff offering yoga, Pilates, spinning at 10am. Salsa on the beach at 12 noon. Thank you Lucerno, Alen, Fabrizio. Nightly shows in the theater, to wrap up a beautiful day. A wonderful café that also offers Mexican chocolate, a real treat. Most importantly, a very happy staff, which sets the tone for the entire resort.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Fantastic vacation
Catalonia Riviera Maya was a wonderful spot for a vacation. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. The food in the buffet and a la cartes was great with lots of choices and was fresh and well prepared. The best feature of the resort is the compact size, everything is within easy walking distance. And the staff were friendly and attentive, any minor issues were addressed right away. Overall, a fantastic vacation spot!

Catalonia Royal Bavaro: Love the Catalonia in Punta Cana
The hotel is very nice. It’s clean and well kept. The staff is friendly and helpful. The beach is perfect. The water is calm and seaweed is cleaned daily. The food is decent and there’s lots of variety. The only downfall is there are not designated smoking areas so people walk around freely and smoke on the grounds, on room patios/balconies, around pools, bars and the beach. As a non smoker it’s very disruptive.

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Food allergy alert
The resort itself was nice and clean however, if you have any food allergies beware. My husband has a food allergy to mushrooms and even after informing both the hostess and server in 2 different restaurants on the resort he was still given dishes that contained mushrooms. We reported this to guest services who did nothing other than apologize. I told them that this was very serious and a report should be filed as this could potentially be a life threatening mistake but they didn't seem too concerned. So beware if you are going to this resort and have food allergies.

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Beautiful resort
We liked the tropical grounds, the different pools, the relatively compact layout of the resort, the food and service at buffet and restaurants. Privileged access to Bloved restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner was really enjoyable. The long beach was good for walks. We noticed very little cigarette smoke within the resort, only a little at the beach, which was good. The resort does not provide detailed descriptions of room types, in particular the location of each category of room. We only learned upon checking in that all Privileged Suites are located on the ground floor on the North side of building 1 and a few in building 4, none of which are close to the Privileged area of beach or Pure Chill bar, which doesn't make sense. Although initially given a room on level 0 in building 1, the farthest from the area we wanted, that room did have a separate living area, i.e. a Privileged Suite as described on their website. We agreed to move the next day to a room on level 1, building 3, facing the pool. We liked the location but the room was one large room with no separate living area. We were told this was also a Privileged Suite which contradicted what we were told at check-in. Overall, we liked this resort very much and would likely return.

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Nice Resort
This resort is very nice. It is clean and easy to get around. The rooms are very spacious. The staff are great. For the most part the food was very good and the pools are really well kept. Really good value for your money. The biggest complaint I would have is that the resort allows guests to book the restaurants 7 days in advance. For this reason we were not able to experience all restaurants. The buffet was lovely but they have difficulty seating everyone and this often results in a long line up to get in. The room was really nice but had some maintenance issues. Door handle was loose, toilet continued running, shower water temp was not regulated…fluctuated between extreme and cold. At the beach, the only shaded loungers are a good distance from the shore and go quickly. You need to be up early to get these seats. All other beach loungers have no shade but are easier to get.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Catalonia Riviera Maya has an amazing atmosphere, food, entertainment, staff
The resort has excellent food, both in the buffet and restaurants, especially the Japanese restaurant. Staff are hard working and attentive to requests. The evening entertainment was excellent, the performers are detail orientated in their performances and facial expressions are superb, the performances start on time, the audience loves to participate, costumes are great, can't say enough about the team. The rooms are clean, updated. The pools are smaller (not meant for doing lap/length workouts) but good for aquatics. The beach is small, good idea to bring water rubber shoes if you like to be in the sea; the weeds were cleared up within days despite the severe influx of weeds.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Very nice clean resort
The resort was really nice. Not too big which we liked. Staff were constantly cleaning the pool area, grounds all the time. The beach wasn’t the greatest, small and lots of seaweed when we were there in end of Feb to beginning of March. Buffet food and À la carts were really good. Lots of food options and drink options. I would highly recommend this resort. Only thing I didn’t like was most the stores on resort required a credit card and didn’t take cash. Brought cash to only not be able to use it most the time. Only for tipping.

Catalonia Playa Maroma: Beautiful!
Catalonia Maroma is a beautiful, well-maintained resort that has been built to embrace the natural environment. Walking through the mangroves enjoying the wildlife was our favourite part of this resort other than the spectacular beach which is truly the highlight. You can walk for miles along pristine white soft sand. The resorts along Maroma work diligently to deal with the sargassum which got worse as our week there went on. Lots of sun loungers means no early morning rave to get one. Food was fresh and the buffet offered lots of variety. The restaurants were a bit hit and miss but the Mexican one was exceptional. We didn’t have issues making reservations. The room was modern and clean but our air conditioning wasn’t working fully (never got down to set temperature) despite many requests to maintenance to fix it. As well the pillows were awful. Evening entertainment could be improved though the shows at the theatre were amazing! Offering quieter music in the lobby after dinner before the show is needed though the guitarist and pianist were very good. A 45/60 minute drive from the airport makes CM a perfect destination. We will definitely return.

This hotel is quite modern and kept very clean. The weather was not the greatest, so we did not spend as much time in pool or beach as we'd like. I would definitely return but found it was a little overpriced.

Catalonia Royal Bavaro: An Amazing Resort!
Our recent stay at Catalonia Royal Bavaro in Punta Cana was nothing short of exceptional. This is a beautifully designed, expansive property that thoughtfully caters to both adults and families. The adults-only side offered both calm and lively areas, while the family section was vibrant and energetic — the best of both worlds without either feeling compromised. The grounds were stunning: lush, tropical, and impeccably maintained. The rooms were spacious and spotless, with options to suit different preferences. We split our 2 week stay between a Privileged room and a two story unit with its own infinity pool-both came with extras of which we took full advantage. Dining was a true highlight. The resort offered numerous à la carte restaurants, each with its own theme and ambiance. The buffets were equally impressive. The food was fresh, varied, and beautifully presented. Our dietary restrictions were well accommodated . Getting around the property was easy thanks to well-maintained pathways, and a shuttle service that was quick, reliable, and plentiful. What truly set this resort apart, however, was the staff. From arrival to departure, every interaction was marked by warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality. Their attentiveness and friendliness elevated the entire experience. This is a resort we recommend without hesitation — for relaxation, celebration, or simply soaking up the Caribbean sun in style.

We spent 10 days at this resort in February and really enjoyed our stay. The pool and beach were absolutely beautiful. The staff were so kind, friendly and always helpful. The food in the restaurants were good but certainly not over the top delicious. We enjoyed the entertainment provided and the staff always try to keep people engaged and entertained. The room was good but very dark as we were on the bottom floor. We did book a couple of excursions through the concierge but discovered that their service was much more expensive than booking elsewhere. We noticed one excursion to be $60 less per person through the trip advisor site. Because of the remoteness of this hotel we felt somewhat trapped unless we took a cab or had the tour company pick us up at the hotel. Cabs are ridiculously expensive. We enjoyed the all inclusive, adults only experience but again, it would be nice if this hotel offered daily shuttles twice a day to Tulum or other towns instead of booking a cab.

Beautifully kept grounds. Clean. Well staffed with the hardest working and friendliest people we've ever met. Plenty of food with good variety. Steak house was recommended as an a la carte but disappointing. Not edible to and of our 6 people table. Other a la carte recommendations were amazing. There was construction going on right on the property line that made it difficult to enjoy the privileged area due to noise and diesel odor. Not the hotels blame but did affect us.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Good Resort
The grounds were well kept and beautiful. The meals at the buffet were very good with many, many choices. The entertainment at the theater was exceptional and very professional. The meals at the Italian, Spanish and Steak House were first class. The maid service left a bit to be desired--the maid would take the dirty towels but did not leave as many clean ones as she removed--however the room was always cleaned very well. The room itself needed to be refurbished---the bathroom counter was in bad shape and needs replacement---we arrived very late on Feb. 8, 2026 and there was water leaking from the light fixture directly above the toilet so that when a person sat on the toilet the water dripped right on them--this was reported in the morning and did not happen again---however when the shower was used water dripped from the ceiling in the entrance. Overall we enjoyed our time at this resort.

We experienced a 2 hour check in (2am before we got a room) - our friends that travelled with us and booked through Tripcentral were told they had received "no reservation" and experienced almost 4 hours before they were placed in a room "for the night" then were moved to another room, later the next day, we all lost the Saturday to enjoy our vacation, our television did not work, after reporting this twice daily, someone finally showed up to look at it, 3 days later only to say he would be back " in a few minutes with a new one" - never saw them or a new TV at all.

Catalonia Yucatan: Great family resort
We went here on our first family vacation with my six-year-old and my 11 year-old and my husband. in terms of the room, they were kept clean and tidy daily but Definately dated it didn’t bother us at all. There was many swimming areas as the two hotels are attached. This ocean was super safe. There was a little lagoon with lots of fish and sea creatures to look at with snorkels and use kayaks and the other side of the ocean was blocked off so it’s super safe from any under toes. We really enjoyed the breakfast and the lunches at the buffet however, the dinners were just subpar. I do suggest trying to make reservations right away for the à la carte. I did that night and I could only get two in at the end of our trip the Mexican and the Italian. My husband says that the Mexican was a three out of 10 and had small portions but he is a bigger guy so for the kids and I I found it fine. Porto Ventura is just a walk away. It’s a cute little area with many restaurants. Dolphins manatees and shops. A short drive to Playa Del Carmen, which is always a great visit. But a very safe, clean and fun hotel resorts, especially with the family all in all. I would Rate it 8/10

Just spent two weeks there. Rooms were a good size and the beds were comfortable. There is great pool space and seemed like there were enough loungers at the pool and the water. The attention to food allergies was top notch. They ask at every meal if there are allergies and they took my gf around to show her what was available for her. They even cooked for her separately. It’s a short walk into town. The shows next door were great. They could use a lounge bar in the evening. We had a 5 al La carte max in two weeks. We had 3 to choose from. It is a chill resort. Livelier next door, which we had access to. Beach is rocky but there is a way in that is sandy. Good snorkeling in front of the resort.

Clean rooms and resort. Food at ala cartes was good but not very hot. Easy to get reservations. Only 1 ATM at resort and its on the family side, it was not working more than half the time I was there. Beach had lots of natural shade with all the palm trees. Staff were friendly and helpful. The one really negative is when you arrive you are hit up with a "free breakfast" at their exclusive club, which is an invitation to a sales pitch to join their club. Not high pressure sales but it did take a bit of sterness for them to accept a no. Had a problem with my shower door not closing and causing lots of water on bathroom floor, told front desk twice about it and no one came to even look at it in the 10 days I was there

Catalonia Royal Bavaro: GOOD RESORT FOR ADULTS
Grounds are beautiful and well looked after, beach is awesome. All Staff at front desk, bars, restaurants very friendly and helpful. Guest services felt like you were bothering them, made it difficult to deal with. They told us to pick 4 restaurants in the beginning and come back to pick the rest later which meant we could not get into anything for the last few days. I suggest booking all the restaurants the first day. Our first room was musty and dirty; we had it changed the next morning with no problem and the room was good. We spoke to others that had the same thing. It looks like there has been water damage in the rooms. If you have the privileged room and are told you have premium liquor (wrong) it is only available at one bar which was not one, we went to not near pools or beach. Not worth the extra money. Do not bother going into Punta Cana it is not a small city centre but a Mall with a grocery store.

Location: short bus from cancun airport, smaller resort, long walk from lobby/buffet to beach and other restaurants but very scenic. Beach: amazing! Loads of chair for all. Lots of shade or sun. We had a lot of seagrass but they worked endlessly to keep it cleaned up. Service on beach not so great but always good to keep moving to get yourself a beverage. No shortage of towels daily. Pool was clean and looked like lots of fun but we did only the beach. Food: ate every breakfast and lunch in the beloved. Amazing service and lovely selection of delicious food. Buffet just typical. We ate dinner at Japanese, steak, Mexican and all were good. Not as great of service as beloved. Didn’t do wok which is in Japanese but separate area and sit at grill. Crepe bar excellent. Pizza good. Drinks as usual. Some better liquor. Rooms were fine. Friends had unpleasant odour and requested some assistance so were promptly moved to another room. Catalonia Montego Bay: Great family resort
This is a great family hotel for many reasons such as the kids club, low sea water (literally about feet knee deep), large pool with kids fountain area and lots of space to roam and sit. The food was really good with lots of options for meat and veggie lovers. And the bonus its just mins or less from the airport. The gym has new equipment. You can get Wi-Fi on most of the grounds. Be advised the hotel is under some renovations but that did not not interfere with the vacation (for now). Also they do have a vacation membership presentation onsite, and the entertain could be improved. There are lots of places to sit, but if your looking for common tv area that too is hit and miss. We only went to the buffet and not the restaurants to I can't comment on that part, but ALL the staff were exceptional!! We would definitely go back, love to see it when its fully renovated. We do suggest that they should have a more welcoming price for expatriates or locals (e.g. day packages that expires 2 am??? why would you want a guest to leave at that time!) and travel membership that you can commit to after you leave (who wants to be on vacation and commit to $15K-20K future travel on the spot). Overall the hotel is worth a visit, its very friendly, clean, convenient and slower paced.

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Nice but spa isn’t accommodating for pregnant women
Food: buffet is typical resort standard, a bit salty but decent. Steakhouse, Italian and BLoved were good. Teppanyaki was too salty to eat. Room: family swim up - very clean and spacious. Sturdiness of toilet was questionable (floating) but maintenance was quick to resolve. Huge downfall was that half the swim up rooms are completely shaded and ours unfortunately was one of them so water was cold and not comfortable to use. Beach: beautiful Entertainment: team was great, shows were ok Kids: lots of young kids. Nice kiddy pool and kid play place but negative is the park is only open during play place hours IF there’s a zero chance of rain so we weren’t able to use it. Service: absolutely amazing. Every single person from waitstaff to housekeepers, to maintenance workers, front desk- everyone was fantastic Main con: extremely disappointed in lack of accommodation for pregnant women. Couldn’t get a massage bc they didn’t have a pillow. Couldn’t do the hydro therapy - not bc of possible risk to pregnancy due to high temperatures, but bc the floors were wet and I might slip. Grip slippers could have been provided to resolve this but the only option was to “sit on the side and watch” my husband lol Additional: mosquitoes were the worst I have ever experienced in my life. Obviously out of their control. They fumigated one or two days after we arrived and we were able to enjoy 2 days mosquito free before they started to come back. Overall: nice resort if you’re looking for great beach, fantastic service , cleanliness and ok w it being very quiet and laid back especially great for little babies. (I have 3 & 1yr olds and would have appreciated more stuff for them to do but at the same time I appreciated how quiet it was - definitely not a party resort). Not worth the extra money for swim up if it’s not directly in the sun and privilege isnt worth it bc the only perk was one restaurant, an hour of hydrotherapy that you can’t use if you’re pregnant and beach chairs that aren’t much different from the other ones.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Three star hotel not four
Rooms are very outdated, this hotel is focused on their privileged guests, regular rooms are awful. The room we stayed in was missing hairdryer, the fridge was filthy, ceiling was leaking. The room was not ready for guests, linens were dirty and it took 3 calls to front desk for housekeeping to come and change the bed sheets.

Grounds were exactly as we remembered them over 15 years ago, beautiful Service was good, best in the dining areas Entertainment service catered mostly to the younger crowd Disappointed they replaced the Spanish restaurant with an Asian one but overall was good Overall we had a very relaxing time and would definitely go back in the future

Beautiful Clean Average to above for food, but 3/4 of us became sick (1st time - we have been about 8 times) Good swim-up bar party pool Awesome quiet pool (Infinity), however, to look like a true infinity pool, the garden and sign need to be removed so that the pool looks like it goes into the ocean Great view of the beach while having breakfast at Be Loved (peanut butter toast is good, and so is the avocado toast) The privilege section is great with beds and an awesome waiter named Marcos, who is very attentive The beach is not great as the water is murky and has seaweed, walk to the family area for a better swim (prefer the beach at Riu or Bahia, but prefer Catalonia resort itself) Like the small size of the resort (adult only), as you can walk anywhere - no need to take a trolley, unlike Bahia and Riu If you want more restaurants and parties, you can venture over to the family side Great atmosphere and drinks at the piano bar, plus a light-up robot costume performance one night I love sitting at the Thalassia restaurant after dinner with drinks, watching the poolside shows (circus acrobatics, Dominican music, karaoke, singing...). Beautiful lobby - great reception Great concierge for a la carte reservations Good porters Quick service to unlock the safe when an issue arises Good maid service, but missing face cloths at times, and the shower floor is not always washed (sand from the beach) Best meal was at Tao Cat (thai food) near the beach 2nd best meal at Rodeo Steak House

Catalonia Royal La Romana: Great vacation
We had great time from beginning to end. One annoying thing was over 1 hour wait in the van to be transported to the hotel. But on the way to the airport everything went smoothly. Hotel is amazing, more than expected, and everything to our taste. We loved beach, restaurants, hotel layout, our room , drinks , service… I would like to give one suggestion, there is huge rush every morning for spots in the shade , since beach in not huge , but it’s deep . We never had chance to get spot under palapa , we didn’t want to get up at 6,7 am and participate in the hunt ! The worst part is that some people that left their towels on the loungers don’t show up all day… Not really sure if hotel staff can do anything about this , but maybe they can offer regular beach umbrellas to us that don’t save spots . I’ve noticed separate areas for “travellers club “ members, Most of the time I haven’t seen more than few spots used, why they can’t adjust it according to guests number and give more space to regular guests? I hope these minor things are fixable, since everything else is just perfect. I am looking forward coming again, with few friends and family members

Catalonia Playa Maroma: Wonderful Staff
Just returned from a week at the Catalonia Playa Maroma. My friend and I had never been to this resort and wanted to try it since we know it's on a beautiful beach. The sargussum was bad but we still managed to get in the water. The food was really good at all the restaurants and buffet. Big shout out to the amazing staff...Adrian, Claudia, Gabriella, Daniel, and Matuselan..always ready to assist. My friend uses a cane and has difficulty walking long distances so we weren't able to walk up to the lobby/buffet everyday so we ate at the a la carts. It was unfortunate that on the day we left there was no service available to pick us and our luggage up at our room before 7am.

Catalonia Montego Bay: Amazing food!
The food was unbelievable. It exceeded our expectations! We arrived in the morning and did not get into our room until 5:30pm, which was very inconvenient. When we did get in our room, our keys did not work for 2 days. Every time we needed to get into our room, we had to wait for staff to let us in. The first night this took them 45 minutes at the end of the day when we were exhausted. Eventually in the afternoon on night 2 they replaced the entire lock. It took us going to customer service several times for this to happen. For this experience alone, I would not recommend the resort. The staff did not make this a priority at all. In general we found the staff to be rude/unfriendly, which was surprising. We had never experienced that at a resort before. This was our first time in Jamaica, we were there as a group of 4. The water was great, the pool was nice, the food was amazing. However the staff and room situation was really disappointing.

Catalonia Yucatan: Great Resort!
I recently stayed at Catalonia Yucatán Beach during a solo vacation in Cancun, and overall, it was a beautiful and memorable experience. The hotel itself has a charming, cozy vibe, and the atmosphere was incredibly warm and welcoming. The staff were absolutely amazing—always friendly, helpful, and kind. As a solo traveler, I ended up meeting a lot of great people, which really added to the enjoyment of my trip. However, I did run into a few issues during my stay. The rooms, while decent, felt a bit dated. When I first checked in, there was a noticeable smell in the room, which was a bit off-putting. That said, the room service was excellent—they cleaned and set the room perfectly every day, which made a big difference. One of the bigger challenges was around the restaurant access. Catalonia Yucatán Beach shares facilities with Catalonia Riviera Maya, and it wasn’t always clear which restaurants we were allowed to go to. This led to some frustrating moments, especially since many of the friends I made were staying at the Riviera Maya side, and we often couldn’t dine together due to access restrictions. This lack of clarity and limitation definitely took away from the experience. Additionally, the Mexican restaurant on site wasn’t quite up to the mark in terms of food quality. Despite these issues, the people, atmosphere, and beautiful location made it a truly special trip. With a few improvements to the room quality and better communication around restaurant access, this hotel could be even better.

Catalonia Royal Bavaro: Favourite Resort!
We had a relaxing time at this resort, great food especially seafood options and the quiet beach areas, also very good service. The water in the beach area is shallow but it is beautiful to walk out and can swim still. The hotel experience is great, small intimate atmosphere with care taken when ordering special drinks. Upgraded to premium and liked the more modern room decor, new lamp, grey laminate flooring, white patio chairs. high standards for cleanliness and food prep no issues

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Nice Clean Resort
The resort is beautiful. The rooms are big and nice. The beach is great. The pools are good. However, the food could have been better. At times it was very bland and the only restaurant I really enjoyed was the Italian restaurant.

Catalonia Royal Tulum: Awesome place for rest and relaxation
I highly recommend this resort for anyone who is looking for a chill and relaxed resort in a tropical jungle like setting with great food and wonderful people who are always go that extra mile for your comfort. The food was great. We loved the food choices as we are both vegetarians, we had no issues as they had quite a variety. The beach was mostly windy, but we still enjoyed spending time in the ocean with the waves and at the pool. The spa is a must.. we went for a couples’ massage and loved it. Thank you for a wonderful week!

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Beautiful Resort!
This resort is immaculately maintained and is picture perfect to look at but the staff make it even better to stay at. The staff go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. If you need anything, all you have to do is ask and the staff make it their mission to accommodate you with a smile on their faces. The help desk is very helpful, the wait staff are always smiling and singing. The bar tenders will make you a myriad of drinks. The overall vibe of the resort is a large, sprawling hotel but the staff treat you individually and make you feel seen and heard.
