The resort was small and quiet. Room was beautiful overlooking pool, snack bar with live music most nights. Buffet was good. Only one A la Carte but it was an amazing seafood dinner. If you like a quiet, quaint resort you won’t be disappointed. Julio and Gerardo were the bartenders at the snack bar in the evening and they were amazing and made sure everyone’s made sure all our glasses were kept full. They are a great example how nice Cubans are. All the staff we met went out of their way to make our holiday great.

Unfortunately we were looking forward to our return, as last February 2018 Due to circumstances we could not come. Hopefully we will be together again soon ? Prayers are with all our Cuba Families

The resort was nice . The grounds well kept. Pools were clean. Bathrooms had toilet paper 75% of the time fairly clean. The rooms were nice but the first room we were in had a really bad sewer smell and a few cockroaches. No A/C working most of the 2 weeks we were there. The second room was nice and no smell. Our Butler Michel was amazing. Always checking in on us every day to see if everything was good. Our day time butler Adriel we hardly ever saw. The food was what we expected. Better hot food at the buffet than the a-la-carts. Huge issue with cockroaches at the Japanese restaurant. They were in the cloth napkins and when the grill was turned on many started crawling out of the cracks on the table top. All 16 of us had to get up and leave before we even got our drinks. Staff were overwhelmed most of the time. Short staffed and working long days. The beach was ok . Very windy with lots of seaweed and garbage on the shore line. Usually raked by later in the day . Being premium wasn’t what it was all that cracked up to be. 2 days the premium bar had no beer or rum. Still love the Cuban people and will go back but just not to this resort.

Unfortunately night before leaving February 10th all flights to Cuba were canceled and now we are waiting for our full refund. Sadly due to Elizabeth's age of 80 she was so looking forward to this vacation. And with increased prices for Dominican and Mexico this won't be possible Wishing safety and good health to all our Cuban friends. Until we can be together again. Always in our thoughts and prayers ?

My trip was a nightmare, I dont know where to start so im not going to! Was there for 2 weeks and living on pins and needles not knowing when our trip would come to an end!!! We were sent home to days short of our vacation with multiple inconveniences Hoping to get some kind compensation for this. I will not be traveling back ever!

We’ve been to this resort many times. This visit we treated ourselves to the Luxury section. We have never been so pampered and cared for. The staff and management are warm and attentive. Because the Luxury section is smaller in size we were able to really get to know the staff and this was one of the best and memorable parts of this visit. The food was delicious. The room was spacious and clean. The grounds were expectable. We cannot wait to go back.

As a group of 8 we truly enjoyed ourselves! The food was good (we don't go for the food) The staff we so outgoing and helpful. We had an excellent experience at the Japanese a'lacarte! Some others we hit or miss. We were treated like royalty. We did upgrade to the Sanctuary (premium side) The resort is fairly big however they had the staff and amenities to cover. Multiple pools, beautiful beach! The people of Cuba are some if the most kind, caring and giving individuals; which is amazing considering their own struggles

Well I can certainly understand why this resort was named Paradisus. It is indeed a tropical paradise! The grounds are beautifully landscaped, showcasing nature at it's best! When you arrive at the front of the resort on the Royal Service side, you will be in awe of the spectacular view of the ocean amidst the lush vegetation and coral rock. The walking paths very pleasant to wander on. You could stroll through the Botanical Garden or take a guided walk accross the bridge to visit an ecological reserve.The staff on both sides, Royal service and standard service were very friendly, professionnal and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed all À la carte restaurents. The food was delicious and masterly presented! We never had any food shortages at the buffet on the standard side. There were however no bananas and pineapple when we were there due to Hurricane Melissa that destroyed many plantations. However, plenty of fresh papaya, guava, watermelon, sweet potato, pumpkin and different fresh juice such as mango and many, many fresh pastries and ice cream for you to enjoy! There were however a few minor hiccups. The check in was a litttle confusing. Upon arrival from the airport, we waited for 30 minutes in the main lobby before speaking with the frontdesk and there was only a handful of us getting off the bus. After 15 minutes of speaking with the front clerk, she told us that we would get a shuttle to the royal service side. We waited another 10-15 minutes for our shuttle and upon arrival to the Royal side, waited a little longer. By that time, we were famished and tired. I don't know why, we were not asked as soon as we got off the bus, what service we had reserved and then go from there? The service provided after that was exceptional! The rooms on the Royal service side were very spacious. We were in the last building 9400. This building is just across from the path that leads to the private Royal Service Beach. If you want to get your 10 000 daily steps in, this is the building to be in. It is a little further away from the lobby, however there is a shuttle that you can request from your butler at any time to pick you up and drive you to your desired location. The outside shower was quite pleasant and it had a strong flow. However, when there was a downpour, we had to be mindful of the leaking bathroom window; for the bathroom floor would flood and it could get slippery especially during those nightly bathroom visits. The entertainment was top notch! We saw and heard opera singers, other talented singers, musicians and magic acts. The beach club staff was amazing, always wanting you to try something new: darts, learning spanish, dancing, history, tours around the resort, yoga, pickle ball, tennis.... We love visiting Cuba for the people, their culture and the beaches! We have met many return visitors at this resort and I can honestly say that I understand why!

beautiful grounds garden but the bartenders very arrogant they always expect tips without doing a good job they make you they make you wait to attend you they talking to each other laughing and they ask you after 5 to 10 minutes seems like they`re doing you a favor and the food just warm never hot the worse worst experience ever had in Cuba and i was in royal service that is not worth the money was a bartender in the morning shit never smile if you ask him for something that the bar do not had he replies go and see the manger been rude like he does not need are business he does not have the attitude to serve guests in this hotel and some waiters to .i been 7 times in Cuba, 5 times in Varadero 2 times in Cayo Coco this was my first time and last time in Holguin because of some employees don't deserve to work there. and thanks for nothing i had work hard for my money when i was young. let them work hard to. they are not in vacation ,but they are their to serve us not doing a favor to us as clients...

The resort was lovely, not too big or small. The grounds were lovely, especially the incredible sandy beach. What really made the trip special was the staff, Alex and Luis from the animation team, and Leo and Marise from the pool bar especially. Incredible effort was put into providing a variety of dishes with limited resources; many options are available, even for picky eaters.

We came back here from Jan 22 - Feb 5, after staying here also last year. We were not disappointed. The friendly staff, the comfortable rooms, good food was exactly what we expected. It is a small resort, I believe a max of 200 guests. It is so nice to get to know all the staff, from the housekeepers, the bartenders, the front desk staff, the buffet attendants, the security as well as the Nexus Rep, Roger and the hotel Manager, Grace. They all did their very best to look after us. It is not their fault certain supplies are lacking but if you are looking for a simple, relaxing vacation with a cute little beach, never have to rush to beach loungers and a cold Cerveza always at the ready this place is for you. There was always a fresh omelette off the grill for breakfast with a variety of hot dishes and fresh fruit, yogurt and lots of bread and sweet rolls. We did not lack anything. The hot water is heated mostly by solar, so mid-day is the best time to get a shower and the Nexus rep told us this right from the beginning so there were no surprises. The linens and rooms are super clean and very quiet. At times, the bar music was too loud, but we simply asked them to tone it down a bit and that was no problem. This resort is right beside the little craft market with a wide variety of vendors who are happy to get to know you also. The town of Guardalavaca is interesting too and quite safe to walk thru. There are lots of horse and buggies as well as taxies close to the front entrance and they are more than willing to help you find your way around and see the sites. If you want to see Authentic Cuba away from the resort areas, visit Starfish Guardalavaca, slow down , enjoy the sunshine and people and take it all in. If you need a 5 Star Michelin experience, this is not for you.

Playa Costa Verde is some what of an older Resort, but well maintained according to Cuban standards. The employees at PCV make you feel right at home and are always willing to help make your stay here the best.

The travel agent did not warn us how bad things were in Cuba. She said it was a great resort and in fact it was the absolute worst. Food is expected to not be great but it was the worst ever I’ve had in Cuba. The weather yes beyond our control but was terrible. Days to get beach towels then accused of stealing washroom towels, minor power outages, water being shut off, having to shower with hair towels. As well as the entertainment being so not up to par. Traveling there with a family of two and three children I; I believe something should be given back in return for this terrible vacation. I’m one to stick up for the beauty of Cuba and this vacation has completely changed me mind and the price paid for this? I am so upset about it.

We needed a bottle of water to make fluids, because my daughter had a fever, and we had to fight to get it. Complete disregard. I have photos of the liters of water left in the rooms; they are the liters that the hotel fills up, and they were dirty and rusty.

After a countless number of visits to this wonderful resort, it once again did not disappoint. Everything from the lush well tended gardens to food presentation was above expectations. But it is the staff, who have become a second family, that push this resort above all others! Lina Cordovez, the Royal Service Manager, always does all in her power to make our stay perfect. We are always amazed when the Los Helechos team remembers what our favourite beverages are AND even my bell pepper allergy! EACH and EVERY one of them go above and beyond! I will not name everyone for fear of missing someone. Yalienny and Marisely, with their beautiful smiles, are the best bartenders/baristas in Cuba. We came out purring after our couples massages which, even with the ongoing renovations, were professional and relaxing. Thanks to Yanis Brown for arranging our spa time. Each of the a la carte restaurants and buffet offer many delicious choices and unique experiences. While we are well aware of the everyday struggles of our Cuban friends, the smiles and service provided is a tribute to the dedication of the team at this resort. Do yourself and favour and go see for yourself!

The resort has a large number of small buildings rather than one huge hotel. With the pathways around the area there is an all round peaceful feeling. Nice beach with some coral at the end for snorkeing.

The resort is a little tired which is understandable with the current situation in Cuba. The staff worked very hard to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The beach and pools were well cared for. Very little fresh fruit available due to supply issues.

We stayed at the Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca recently and had a fantastic experience! This resort offers incredible value, especially for those who appreciate a warm, community feel over a standard luxury hotel. The Staff: The absolute highlight of this resort. The staff are incredibly friendly and go above and beyond to make guests feel like family. It is no wonder so many people return year after year. Beautiful Beach: The location on Guardalavaca’s stunning beach is perfect. The white sand and warm waters are ideal for swimming and snorkelling right off the shore. Great Atmosphere: The grounds are beautifully landscaped. There is always something to do, from non-motorized water sports like kayaking and catamarans to bingo, darts, mini golf and entertaining evening shows. Room Tip: The rooms are cleaned daily with comfy beds and fluffy pillows. Value for Money: There was always a variety to choose from each night. The a la carte restaurants, La Espada and El Fuete, are a must-try. Overall, if you are looking for an affordable paradise with a genuine Cuban soul, this is the place to be!

We went here for 9 days for the first time. New resort. Not at all full. We enjoyed our stay. The staff all works hard. The buffet always had plenty to eat. 2 egg stations most mornings. Simple food, beef, pork, fish, chicken . We enjoyed the Ala carts. Indian, Asian and Cuban. All food was nicely displayed. Nice desserts too. The rooms were nice and clean. Pools were great, lots of lounge chairs. Only thing about this resort is the beach. While staff worked very hard to clean the sand of sea weed daily, the walk into the water is very uneven, rocky with prickly large sea urchins(?) Water shoes are an absolute must for safety. Apparently, the resort has a plan to build a dock to bypass uneven part in water. We enjoy the beach , so probably won't return.

We had such a pleasant and relaxed time at Paradisus Rio d'Oro. The grounds are lovely, the rooms spacious and clean, the food tasty and plentiful. The staff work hard to keep all guests happy. The beach is beautiful white sand and it's so soothing to watch and listen to the waves. It's a great place to escape winter for a while. It's no wonder that I met so many people who have been going there year after year.

Hotel was nice we had problems with our key card alot. Pressure for the shower was poor. Service was great staff was amazing. Food was ok. Beach and pool was awesome. Entertainment was poor drinks were great.

This was our first time to this resort, 2nd time in Holguin area. Its a mature resort. Grounds are lush, beautifully taken care of. A La Carte restaurants dinners where delicious and service was excellent. Stayed on the Royal side section but checked out the main side also. Main beach and RS beaches where beautiful, snorkeling at both locations where awesome.

We had an awesome week. The whole experience was great. We enjoyed the beach, the pool, the food and the staff. Our maid kept our rooms clean and comfortable. We were travelling with our daughter and son-in-law and granddaughter who is 2 1/2. Any concerns we had about travelling with a toddler were for nothing. She had the best time!

Beach = Beautiful Hotel Service = They were trying to help, very good Bar Service = Very good Food = It's Cuba Guests = Too many locals, annoying A la carte service = Very good (we skipped the Italian) Main Buffet service = Hit or miss 24 Hour snack area = Always short of food Sanctuary Buffet = Terrible service Our room = For a premium category we were disappointed 4 things had to be fixed, air condition is controlled by them, we constantly asked them to adjust since we were freezing, still didn't work. Upgrade category = We paid extra for premium, we did not feel any different, rooms were the same as the lower category, food and drink the same, we had 2 butlers, 1) was good (YASMANI), 2) the other will not mention name, pretended to be helpful, did not do anything

4 adults- had a great time. Good food (for Cuba), good drinks and a goodtime had by all 4 of us. 3rd time at this hotel and hopefully 4th next year. Cuba is suffering from what is going on in this world but we plan on returning if we can next year to Aston Cost Verde Beach Resort.

For the price this resort offers great value. The pool and the beach were why we went and they were exceptional. The grounds were beautiful and the staff were very responsive and friendly The food supply was constrained but the resort did their best to serve decent meals. It wasn’t the best but we could always find something reasonable to eat.

January 13th - 27th vacation Our first time visiting Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin and am pleased to say our trip was fantastic. The Premium upgrade with butlers was outstanding. We were assigned Dariel as our daytime butler and Alvaro José Blanco Pupo for the evenings. Wow!! What a pleasure to get to know these two young men. The dedication and care we received was incredible. I received Good morning texts from Dariel asking how we are doing and if anything was needed. And a how was our day from Alvaro in the evening. They booked all our a la carte dinners and coordinated together as a team. Each would randomly show up to say hello at breakfast or lunch and dinner. We always felt cared for. Breakfast was ordered in advance from Dariel and always delivered for our Aunt Jeannine when she decided to sleep in. They took great care of us and her as we celebrated her 82nd birthday on this trip. We asked and received extra pillows and blankets thank you again as our room air conditioning worked to well at times. Water to our room was always working, shower pressure was as good as home. I have to mention the whole butler system at this resort is one of the best teams I have encountered in our 22yrs of travels to many different island resorts . I have had butler service in many places but nothing like this dedicated group. A few more to mention that would stop by wherever we were at the time to see how we were doing Yosbel Zaldívar Sarmiento and Pablo who is also is attending university and Michel. Michel was assigned to my brother who surprised me at the resort at the start of our second week. I was sending photos of the resort pics of the food. That helped him decide to book two days before flying out to join us for our last week. I’m sorry so many others names I can’t remember. I was ask by guests why upgrade you don’t get much more than a few extra a la cart dinners. I can say we received much more than that. Never having to go to the front desk to ask a question or make a reservation or request or to report being locked out of your safe lol Alvaro called technicians and they were prompt to arrive. Using WhatsApp or Messenger was perfect to communicate. Room service for our aunt or ourselves. Extra anything they could provide they did. And so much more to mention but it would be a book. Our breakfast and lunch in the premium section restaurants was sit down service and a game changer. No line up to wait and the service staff was so friendly and over the course of two weeks those we interacted and spoke with often would remember us and specific things we mentioned about ourselves. This resort is not lacking in wine , soft drinks or food. Our fridge was stocked daily with water, two soft drinks and 2 beers (Crystal) All our meals were large portions plus always options for staters. Every soup I tried was delicious. I’m a little scared to try on my work pants My favourite and most consistent meal was at the Creole restaurant. The pools are beautiful and clean. Our ocean view was absolutely amazing. Building A 1311 Mila and Glenise our housekeepers work very hard always clean towels, floors clean and shiny coffe maker cleaned coffee packets left for our use and took the time for some beautiful extra little touches for me in my room. Always looked forward to coming back to see what they did. The ground’s gardening staff work incredibly hard to keep it looking beautiful. I can only say from our experience we would definitely return here in the future. Same room ? ?. This resort was a bonus to find but people of Cuba are what keeps us coming back.

We had a group of six women on this trip!! Fantastic beach, friendly, helpful staff that made for a safe, fun, relaxing stay. Rooms were clean, food was fantastic and service was exceptional. I will return and bring even more friends!

We have been booking our winter vacations with TripCentral for over 20 years. It has always been a problem-free and stress-free process. This year we booked with Danielle Smith, and we were not disappointed: she was knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and very patient answering all my questions. She offered the Aston Costa Verde hotel, advised on insurance options, reminded us of the formal requirements for the trip, and generally took good care of us. We have been very pleased with the hotel and the services it offers. The beach and the grounds are gorgeous, the hotel and the pools were well-maintained, internet access in the rooms and at the pools, no problems with hot water or electricity, the food was fine, and there were daily activities and entertainment in the evenings. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the hotel organizes a special dinner party for their repeat customers. We are certainly going back and maybe we will make the special dinner some day…

The hotel was great, staff were friendly and always made us feel welcomed. The food was good, there were 2 snack bars to chose from and we knew that the food could be repetitive at the buffet so we used these to change things up. The beach is amazing, it is a bit of a climb to and from but there is a walkway without stairs, just a bit more of a walk. Our flight was cancelled on departure day and the staff were quick to rebook a room and kept us informed. We did the Bay Adventure excursion which was well worth it and also took the bus to a nearby market which was fun. We would return to this area and this resort.

I have stayed at this resort many times. They are amazing people and always go out of their way to help you with anything. The food is amazing at this resort. There are times when there are shortages such as butter and eggs but this is out of their control. The grounds keepers do a great job and the gardens are beautiful. The pool and pool bar are great and Leo and Maurice are great bartenders. As for the snack bar it’s great and they make wonderful pizzas. The bartenders there are always willing to please. The beach restaurant and bar are great and overlooks the ocean. It’s beautiful for lunch. The spa is stunning and the employees there are wonderful. I have always had a great vacation at this resort . The maid service is great and always keep the rooms immaculate. All in All great resort. The management is very helpful with any questions you may have

Everything about the hotel was fine; great beach, we did snorkeling, swimming, aqua-gym. The buffet was fine too comparable to a 4 star in Cuba in the previous year. There was not a very great choice of food, but we always managed, as a family of 4, to get good meals. The restaurants were fine, especially the Italian one, with a great tomato soup and beef. We did not have access to sea food however, except white fish. We did a lot of swimming and playing in the pool. I really dont understand other comments here that almost made us cancelled our trip. It was FINE (for Cuba). The staff was great. We didnt go much out late at night but there wasnt much animation (that I was aware of), rather low but good animation (man at piano, singer, small band). Lot of family with kids, older persons 55+. There was animation at one side of the great long pool, but if you go to the other side it was most peacefull. We enjoyed the coffee wagon at the lobby.

For context: My Mom and I travelled to PCV (Jan. 14-21) as a trip to celebrate her recent 70th birthday and my 40th birthday. This was her 4th visit to PCV in 2 years and my first. I last travelled to Cuba in 2011, but go to Mexico every year with a close friend group and our families. I knew the amenities, food, etc. here in Cuba would be different. Having realistic expectations is #1 when travelling to Cuba. We paid $1000 each. When you consider how much the airline takes + taxes and transportation, very little is left for the resort, and I think people forget to consider that. Beach: Gorgeous! Crystal clear water and very little seaweed, but it is the ocean after all so there is some. Lots of great snorkeling and a few different options for sailing and pedal boats. It was difficult to find loungers if you went after 10am. The beach is a bit of a walk from the resort and there are no washroom facilities. There is a bar but no food options, so keep that in mind. Pool: Very large, clean and lots of room to float around. There were a few recreation team activities during the day, but at least during our time, had very little participation. The swim up bar is good but the slush machine was out of order. Bring a reusable cup to void using paper cups. Grounds: Generally nice, but a lot of areas had large sections of tall grass that hadn’t been mowed. This didn’t affect our trip in anyway, but did give an overall “run down look” - as did multiple abandoned buildings. Rooms: We requested a room on the 2nd floor but couldn’t be accommodated. We arrived at 10pm and were taken to a first floor room in building # 25. It was dark, musty and sparks flew from the lightbulb in the lamp when I went to turn it on. There was also no patio furniture on the patio. The fridge did not work and was leaking water all over the floor. The next day, we were moved to a 2nd floor room in building 11 that was 1000 times better. Bright, clean and more updated. We had plenty of towels but the sheets were not changed. We didn’t ask for them to be, but just something to note. A handful of times the water pressure was off for flushing the toilet, but fixed within an hour. We had a few power outages that only lasted 5-10 seconds for less than 10 minutes. Staff: 98% of the staff were incredibly kind and helpful. We had a few issues with management/guest relations but overall the Cuban people are so lovely and appreciative. Food: This is SUCH a heated and much-divided area, but in my opinion, the food was slightly less than typical “Cuba”. The buffet was very repetitive and lacking. The only fruit we saw all week was pineapple and there was melon one day. The only veg were cucumbers and tomatoes. Plenty of pasta, rice, seafood and usually a chicken option as well. They didn’t always have butter, ketchup or salt and pepper, but we brought our own + peanut butter. The snack bar was our favourite. The chicken salad sandwich was great! The service can be VERY slow there, but I wasn’t in a rush to be anywhere! They did run out of fries one day, but restocked quickly. Pizza was good! We didn’t realize until the last day they offer breakfast as well. It looked good! They seemed to always have ketchup and mustard too at the snack bar. We didn’t try the al la cartes. In my experience, it’s usually but same as the buffets but I could be wrong. Overall, we had a great week for what we were looking for. For the price, the weather and the relaxation, it was perfect! I personally would return for the same price, but not more. I do prefer to be somewhere like Varadero where there is more to do and see off the resort, but that’s just a personal preference.

This was a new resort that was very nice in fact they were still building. They had 5 buildings finished and 5 more under construction The pool area was great. Very clean everywhere. Really nice staff, very friendly and helpful. The beach needed more work. It wasn't very nice. It was a nice resort and I would go back.

We have been at this resort 6 times. We love the crew, beach and club pool. Finally the snack bar got burgers and fries again!!! Awesome. Want to throw shout out to Wilbur, Leo (club bar), Katerina and our favorite pool guy, Bajonie (definatly spelling that wrong). Bajonie is the guy who keeps the pools running and absolutely pristine. Also our life guards that do a great job keeping an eye on foolish tourist lol. I wish I knew more names of all the great workers but they all are great. We brought the workers a few battery pack chargers, some solar. Power is a great gift.

Beautiful resort. Great staff The beach is awesome. Highly recommend this resort to anyone going to cuba the Asian restaurant is excellent as well as the international Could use a little more music on the beach during the day. But overall lovely place to visit.

We just returned from a week away at PCV. We’ve been going there atleast once a year for the past 4 years. This place is AMAZING. the highlights are the 24HR snack bar, stocked with food & drinks. The entertainment is great daily. The beach is gorgeous. The staff are the most beautiful, kind caring people you can find on earth! the grounds are well kept and beautiful, the pool & pool bar are where you find me most often ;). The rooms are dated , but for the amount of time you spend in them , they’re perfectly fine. beds are comfortable, water is hot, most rooms have jet tubs which is nice in the evening after a rain shower. If you’ve seen the recent news advisories about shortages and power outages , PLEASE don’t listen… this past trip had less shortages than previous years, despite the fact ; it is cuba and you need to keep expectations realistic … this resort has everything you’ll need. they had eggs, bacon, ketchup (on every table) lots of coffee and drink options. So don’t let the recent news deter you ! USD tipping is preferred , but do what you can … they’re grateful because Our help is what keeps them going… I recently saw a meme that says “FIBO” ( Fu*k it, Book it!) and that’s my advice for you ! Go enjoy the wonderful culture , the incredible service , the sun , sand and Sea .. and above all else the unmatched hospitality of the lovely Cuban people!!

The hotel and grounds are breathtaking, all the workers and gardeners are so very friendly and hospitable. The beach is paradise, it is one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen, the tree line is only 100 feet from the water so it easily gives off this tropical vibe, the beachfront is in a protected bay so most days are calm crystal clear, water, snorkeling, and scuba diving are exceptional here Food could be better, but there is always an array of choices

Our second time at this resort and not disappointed. Beautiful facilities, rooms, pools, restaurants and beach. Can't say enough about the staff. Everyone from the bar, grounds, restaurants, reception, cleaners were so friendly. The food was very good too! Much better than is typically rumored for Cuba. We're hoping to return again before the end of this year and would definitely recommend.

Good overall, perfect size and capacity to have calm vacations.... Good room service overall , good room cleaning services, friendly staff, food is a 2/10 and some night shows involving dancing would have been great, like twice on 7 days. Mostly senior/elderly clientele

grounds beach are all fine,found the buffets not as good as last year.. should not have mussells as main corse and then in several side dishes evidently batteries are in short supply for the shuttle carts,evidently other resorts have this problem

Just recently stayed at the resort and our group was impressed. The rooms are a little dated especially washrooms but we went to enjoy the weather not the washrooms ?. The grounds are very well kept, pools are clean and the staff was super friendly. The food was what we expected in Cuba but you will not go hungry. Overall we had a spectacular time and definitely will be going back

This hotel. Well I'm not one to generally complain about things I usually go with the flow and find fun almost anywhere. However I must say something when it needs to be said. The hotel staff were nice and friendly as always like Cubans generally are. Drinks flowed greatly and the beach was fine along with the ocean. The food was, well... "It's Cuba" as they say, but selections are getting limited. Quickly. Fresh pasted only showed up on day 5 of 7. However...WATCH OUT!!!! Room 37314, for sure had bed bugs and I was bit many times. I wasn't aware it was bed bugs until I got home and had it confirmed by the doctor. I just assumed it was mosquito bites, but to be honest there was just too many bites to be consistent with mosquitos. Sadly .... At least in this room, my room and the bed closest to the balcony, there are bed bugs. If you travel to this resort do not stay in room 37314 and be aware that sadly Cuba is sliding down hill. There could be more rooms with bed bugs. It's too bad the Cuba government isn't stepping in and helping themselves and their people. The people of Cuba need their government to step up. I love Cuba, been there 10-times, but it is getting worse each time. And it could be my last trip to Cuba.

Grounds are very well kept with some interesting Art and Decorative features if you take the time to look. Rooms are spacious but do lack a bit of maintenance. Yes your choice of English speaking TV channels is limited, but I didn't spend my Vacation sitting in the room watching television or staring at the inside of our room. Food choices were adequate at the Main Buffett as we as the Pool and Beach Restaurants considering the shortages being experienced all over the Island. The Gourmet Restaurants were however disappointing possibly due to my choice of orders, Don't order Steak!, I could see the marks where the Jockey was beating on it before it landed on my plate..... Good thing Buffet was still open. Weight Loss was not a problem and my clothes continued to shrink. I would still rate this Resort above average for Cuba. Staff are extremely wonderful and if I had a Suitcase big enough, I would bring a few of them home. GOLDEN Rule of Travel #1 If you travel and expect things to be the same as they are at Home....... Stay Home! GOLDEN Rule #2 If all else fails..... Read Rule #1

The hotel as usual was immaculate. The food wasn’t plentiful but we ate well and never went hungry. Those expecting Canadian cuisine go elsewhere. The grounds are well manicured and everywhere there are workers making it beautiful. Lots of hot water for showers, lots of bottled water for drinking. Staff is so very friendly everywhere at Brisa’s. There was a lack of liqueurs and mix, sometimes vodka. That’s out of their hands. Safe to go off site anywhere in the town. Love it.

hotel was very clean and good food we stil like the horse an buggy we did we went whit him to un hicking trail . One ouwer hicking to the caves .that trip was perfect an on top hy made un meal for us .So al together we spent somewere 4 ouwers whit him ,wolking plus diner on the farm fore the cost off $50 dollars were he was happy whit. this was un wonderful day we will never forget

Overall great experience, you'll have a hard job finding a better resort in Cuba. Surprisingly good food, but fruit and vegetables were lacking the first couple days until an order arrived (still random shortages after that, no cola/no bacon). Royal service room was cleaned twice a day. No issues with towel/beach towels. Water in room everyday, beer and juice sometimes. Outside Shower was amazing, and lots of hot water. Main beach was better for swimming than Royal side, but Royal had better sand with quiet atmosphere. Staff were mostly great, (and responded faster with $ in your hand). A lot of walking if you didn't want to wait for the shuttle which was unreliable at times. Infinity pool in royal side lobby has a stunning view. Recommend Royal side if you want a more relaxing vacation. Travelled solo and the single supplement was high ($500), which makes it overpriced but great value if travelling as a couple.

Rooms and public areas all very clean. Wonderfull staff. Food limited and small buffet, only buffet right now. Snack bar only when they have food, French fries and rice. No soda in less you pay for it $2. All mixed drinks mixed with orange or lime mix. No issues there for us was good. Not many people there under 100 so never a line up for anything and can always find a chair on the beach around the pool. Only issue was we never had hot water the full week there. Heated by solar but we never had hot water. My only complaint but for me it's a big one.

Unfortunately when we arrived on January 6 we were notified of a death in our family so had to return home so did not enjoy our vacation m. We would like to commend our Sunwing Representative Annabelle Carballido as if not for her we would not have known what to do. You can tell she loves her job and she cares so once again thank you. Hopefully we can afford to book another trip with trip central

Holguin is quite lovely. Had not been to the area before. We stayed in Royal Service which was very quiet, peaceful, and private. If you are choosing Cuba then you are accepting that limitations exist with products, food availability, etc. Lovely staff, kind service, and first stop for drop off from the airport. Love the outdoor shower with our room.

This resort was by far the worst travel experience for our family of 4 over the last 25 years. This was not what we expected for a week of relaxation and starting the new year strong! My son and I got stomach flu on the 2nd day, and I got elevated blood pressure due to absence of healthy food options. Considering health issues and lack of hotel food and accommodation quality, we decided to leave to resort on January 1 at 7:15 am resulting in rescheduling return flights with Sunwing representative on December 31, 2025. We have had 3 prior visits to Cuba in the past with a pleasant experience and having a reasonable expectation for travelling to Cuba. Knowing that Cuba offered lower standard for food and accommodations while providing great hospitality, safe environment and trustworthy staff. This resort failed almost at every level as a 4.5 stars resort. I would rate this resort as a strong 2 stars! The dissatisfaction was a general sentiment among many of the guests staying at the resort at the same time. It was almost a chaos! Many repeat customers were shocked and displeased with the current resort conditions – stating it was not like this before. We were told by the resort staff that the resort was in middle of transition from one resort management company to another starting January first; and the current company had dropped the ball so to speak! They had stopped spending money to buy food and keep the right staff level. We witnessed people to get special treatment from resort staff by getting scrambled eggs in a covered plate or beef while these items were not offered to others at large. Food Quality The food variety was limited and unacceptable for a 4 star plus resort. Basically, the food options were hot dogs cooked in 3-4 ways (fried, boiled, and cut in tomato sauce), rice and bread. There was no vegetarian option – only green peas, shredded carrot, and cucumbers or tomatoes on some lucky days (never both at the same time). The resort did not offer a health-conscious option. There was no consideration for food allergy. Given that my son had a severe peanut allergy and my daughter was vegetarian, we were faced with a high risk of life-threatening allergic reaction for my son and no food options for my daughter. It was an effort to find something to your liking to eat. And we were not alone! You could watch people taking a couple of full circles around the food stations and leave with empty plates or a couple of items. You were basically forced to eat something so not to starve! In the buffet there were 3 hot food cooking stations in the evenings (pasta station, taco station and grill station) – all with the same 3 or 4 ingredients (-green peas, sausage, ham, cucumber). -To get food from these cooking stations we had to stand in the line for 50 mins to an hour (we timed it). Pasta and taco stations offered pasta and taco with the same ingredients of peas, cold cut hum and cucumbers, while the grill section offered chicken only. After standing in line for an hour, we would realise that it was not worth it because the food was blunt and unsafe to eat due to ignoring food handling safety procedures. Salad bar was canned sardines, one type of cold cut, shredded carrot, and green peas. There was no greens salad bar, tomato, cucumber, cheese. The New Years eve food selection did include 2 types of cheese; however, it was sprinkled with peanut and peanut butter on the same plate. Not an option for someone with peanut allergy. The soups were salty with fatty pork stock. The dessert included Jello in yellow and orange colour, and melted ice-cream pool. The only juice option was a mango juice, no other options. There were no fresh or dry fruits at all except for New Years Eve dinner at the buffet that offered grapes and apples. We realised that people were simply taking the fruits to their room so that they can have some fruits the following days. The breakfast did not include simple things like eggs, yogurt, fruits, etc. Eggs and yogurt were offered in the premium section only. Since when items such as eggs and yogurt are considered premium items? Food Handling and Service The concept of safe food handling was foreign to the resort staff. The service was extremely slow with long lines. It would take 40 to over 60 minutes to get food. There were no food labels. Important for people with allergy or certain food preferences. The first night, the lady, working at the fajita station, would add ingredients with her bare hand while touching everything else with the same hand through the cooking process. The second night, the guy, working at the fajita station, would use the same fork to add raw chicken pieces to the grill and later to add diced cucumber to the already cooked fajita and chicken. A serious risk of getting salmonella. The chicken breast pieces were not fully cooked. You could spot uncooked pink parts. This issue was shared by many others. Again, a great risk of getting salmonella. There was no serving spoon in the jello bar. Meaning, individuals had to use their own spoon to get jello from bowls. The other food stations shared a single tong among 4/5 types of salad or food. It’s not an exaggeration to say that the buffet was filthy (the floor and the food cooking stations). We saw cockroaches crawling on the food cooking station. Wait staff in the buffet were unfriendly, slow and nowhere to be found. There was no one to seat you or fill your glass with water or ask what kind of drink you want. If we would find a waiter and ask for water, it would take 30 mins to get it after numerous reminders. Room Initially, we were given 2 rooms both with king beds for us and our children. Later, they switched us to 2 rooms with double beds as they could not resolve the issues with the initial rooms. They were cockroaches and bed bugs in the rooms. The door latch was missing from inside. The balcony door lock was not working. The safe door was not closing. There was no working TV or working room phones. The room door was not easily opening with the card. We would get stock outside our room with frustration. The air conditioning controller was broken – not able to adjust the room temperature. There were coffee mugs in the room but no coffee machine. There were only two towels in the room, so we had to use the same towel for face and shower. Towels were not changed daily. There was no extra toilet paper, whatever was on the roll. The room fridge only offered one bottle of water. There was no internet in the rooms. Main lobby The water dispenser had no water only filled with ice for hours. The staff didn’t make the effort to refill with water. You could always spot dirty glasses, cups, and plates on the tables. There was no timely cleanup. Public Washrooms The washrooms were filled with unpleasant smell either due to aging facility or not timely cleaning. The washrooms did not have operational or refilled soap dispensers. Door locks were broken. WIFI / Phone System Weak and unreliable WIFI. WIFI only worked at certain areas – could not stay in touch with family members in the resort. The phone in the rooms didn’t work - no dial tone. Could not call the reception for a service request. Since most of the things were not operational in our room, we had to physically walk to reception to ask for it to be fixed. The resort didn’t have landline to make a collect call. Had to use own personal phone. Beech and Pool The beach and pool areas were not attained at all. We never saw a resort staff to clean or put chemicals in the pools. The beach and pool chairs were broken, dirty and misplaced, dirty paper cups all over, garbage and seaweed covered shoreline.

I have been going to Holguin, Cuba for many years and will continue to do so. However, I do not go for the resorts but for the people and friends I have made over the years. The staff at the resort are doing their best to serve their clients but they can only work with what they have. The good: The staff are amazing, the rooms, although dated are clean and comfortable. The beach and the sea are absolutely stunning. The bad: The food is no longer appealing to me, much of it appeared and tasted to be reheated leftovers. The was no fresh fruit or vegetables, butter or fresh juice. I no longer go to the al a Cartes as there is no variety in that either and the food is tasteless. There is also a shortage of staff to serve the clients, and I noted many were very upset with the long wait times. The lack of loungers at the beach and also the pool caused some difficult interactions between clients and staff. Although I did not get bitten by a mosquito due to using a Deet insect repellent daily, the chikungunya virus is rampant in the area, and I did not once see the resort fumigating for the mosquitos as I had in past. Many of my Cuban friends, including resort staff, have been sick with the virus. The resort owners need to put some money and effort into upgrading the resort otherwise I foresee many clients like myself not returning. My opinion is that the resort is not a 4-star as listed on the Trip Central site, but more like a 2.5-star. The value for the money is no longer there.

We've been travelling to Cuba almost every year for almost 40 years and Playa Pesquera certainly is the resort I like the least. Let's stick to the facts, not my likes and dislikes. This is a snapshot of my week there in early February, 2026. The Air Canada Vacations Rep was Missing (Inaction). The orientation meeting was very poorly done. Misinformation on tours and no orientation to the grounds at all. This is a huge resort and it is easy to get lost (especially at night). Signage was poor. Washrooms not marked or not marked with men/women. The food was poor but this is not a complaint. We ate much better than the average Cuban. Fish Beach has no fish. Cuba is surrounded by water and there was no fish. They did have lots of tinned sardines however. Luckily at the hotel the liquor, wine and beer flowed freely. The week we were there, large groups of family and friends arrived and took over the hotel. The noise levels in the common areas was intolerable. Wild children ran freely! Members of the hotel Facebook page do not always tell facts and can actively gaslight dissidents . They also tend to be rude to anyone who disagrees with them. The grounds of the hotel are attractive and well-kept. The workers are helpful and pleasant. The hotel pool is expansive with lots of palapas to keep you shaded. The same goes for the beach although it is rocky in places. The hotel allows smoking in common areas. Remember non-smoking seats on planes? Music provided was mostly American. No big show. Actually there might have been but we have no way of knowing. Remember, no signage.

Taking in account situation in Cuba in my opinion it is the best option. I can not talk about food inthe buffet since we never use it. We booked the Royal Service for 11 days and it was money well spent. All meals we ate in a la carr, including breakfast lunch and 5 different restaurants. No complains whatsoever. There was no butter only margarine and no Cola in the resort, sometimes they were out of certain alcohol brands but manageable. The resort is beautiful and well managed the staff is very friendly. Again for Cuba, very good choice. They have very high number of returning customers, warning mature customers and the Royal Service side is very quiet.

Very nice place to stay. Although no entertainment at night, mainly elderly people and children visiting. Service is extremely slow and we had to go to front desk 4 times before our sink could have a pipe attached and we could use it. People are nice. Not always the cleanest. Food is not the greatest.

First off, the layout of the buffet is very unorganized. The second the buffet opens, everyone rushes the place and the giant lineups begin. While those are in line waiting for freshly made food, others have to cut in and gather in swarms to take from the pre-made pans. Who thought this layout would be a good idea?! The food was not good. The reviews that state everything is perfect and nothing is missing is certainly not true. People who were not even present at the resort were commenting on the good quality and selection of food without even being there. Just because you were once there and the food was decent then, doesn't mean it's the same today. The weather was great, the pools were nice and the beach is beautiful but the food that was available was terrible and unappealing. I will not be returning to this resort nor would I recommend.

Unfortunately, this vacation was far from the experience that was advertised and paid for. We encountered multiple serious issues throughout our stay, which significantly impacted our health, comfort, and overall enjoyment of the trip. These issues included, but were not limited to: • unsanitary room conditions / insects / filthy mattresses, bed sheets were so worn and so filthy you cannot imagine • lack of food options / poor food quality for the whole period we never had a single fruit or vegetable. Only noodle soup rise and bins, people either were fighting over an boiled egg or they had to wait in lines for 20 min each time.Miserable. • we were 14 people and all of us came back hungry and the body full of insects bites. We are taking treatment(oral treatment) for the insect situation we had in Cuba • services or amenities not available as advertised absolutely ridiculous how you advertise such a resort

I am writing to formally express my deep disappointment with the vacation package we purchased through Sunwing for our stay at Playa Pasquero from December 30 to January 6. We were a group of 14 people. What was meant to be a relaxing holiday turned into an extremely unpleasant and uncomfortable experience due to multiple issues at the 5* resort..... From the moment we arrived, the service at the hotel was far below acceptable standards. We had to drag our luggage's ourselves to the room, which was on the other site of the resort. Our sheets were never changed throughout the stay, and the towels were also not replaced despite repeated requests, and daily tips to the staff.. We had to go to the lobby daily to request water... the fridge was always empty. The room conditions were unacceptable, with a significant mosquito infestation and even signs of bed bugs, which made it difficult to sleep or feel comfortable in the space. We have pictures of the mosquito bites.. The food situation was equally concerning. The quality was extremely poor, with leftovers from lunch being served again at dinner. Over the course of seven days, we did not see a single fresh vegetable offered. Breakfast was chaotic, with tourists literally fighting over eggs due to lack of availability and poor organization. This is not the level of service or quality advertised, nor what we expected when booking with Sunwing. Overall, the experience fell drastically short of the standards promised, and it certainly did not reflect the value we paid for this trip.

Here's my honest review of our stay (December 27th - January 3rd) . We booked our trip to Grand Memories Holguin last minute (one week prior) and elected to go with the Premium rooms. Since we were traveling with our 2 teens we booked two separate rooms. Our rooms 3434 & 3435 were in building G and were ocean/pool view. They were modern and clean and no signs of any pests during our stay. Maids were great and replaced our towels and bed sheets daily and restocked our mini fridges with coke, sprite, beer and water as needed. Our first 2 days the food was poor even for Cuba standards with very limited food selection and no vegetables or fruit at all at any of the restaurants. We even ventured to the nearby market to try and buy some but they too had nothing. From day 3 and onwards the food got a lot better and suddenly had tomatoes and cucumbers and even fries but no other greens. Their bread is made fresh daily and is really good. Buffet has good pizza but limited to cheese, tomatoes and ham only. They also have pasta with tomato and/or alfredo sauce although they lack parmasean to give it more genuine flavor. Their grilled wraps are quite good and have choice of chicken, pork or Tuna and have similar taste to a melt sandwich except I found these to be tastier than ones back home due to their freshly made/baked bread wraps. They do also have a wide variety of other meal stations but they do lack any greens -lettuce, spinach, broccoli, etc.. Their desserts were pretty good too - my personal favorite was their guava ice-cream. Since we had 2 Premium rooms, we had 2 butlers ( Orlando & Luiz) who were each helpful in getting us reservations to the 4 allacarte restaurants as well as dinner reservations at the Premium restaurant. Therefore we ate dinner at 5 different restaurants over our 7 days. Japanese was the best in terms of entertainment followed by Creole, Agea, Premium and Italian based on our likings of the food. Each allacarte had 3-4 course meals so we left full every time Drinks They DO NOT have any Vodka and unless your Premium, no coke either.. But they do have a decent selection of rum and whiskey and tequila. Pina-colodas were hit and miss based on availability of ingredients but they always had espresso martinis which were tasty. Mojitos were also hit and miss based on (mint) availability. The 3 pools all looked clean although we opted for the beach instead which was cleaned every morning of weeds/ rubbish. That said, there is some garbage which floats in from the ocean with waves. The water right in front of the hotel was clear but often stirred up by the waves however 5mins down from there the water was insanely clear mostly due to the reef which broke down the waves. Snorkeling was amazing and we saw every type of fish possible- just like visiting an aquarium, and found numerous shells and conch's. They also had pedal boats and kayaks which could be reserved for free. We also booked an excursion which incluuded sailing via catamaran, Snorkeling and visiting an island with a jeep tour of the wildlife including zebras, antelope, wild horses and iguanas. The beach was amazing and the Snorkeling was AMAZING. Had I'd been asked to rate my experience on our first 2 days, I would have been a lot more critical and advised people not to come. While they are still lacking green vegetables and most fruits, I would rank my stay as 3 out of 5 and would therefore return to Cuba but maybe try a different hotel closer to the bigger cities as I believe the issue with their lack of supplies has to do with this resorts isolation coupled with Cuba's fuel and other shortages.

Après avoir visité Cuba à plusieurs endroits et pour plus de 20 fois, c'est la première fois que j'ai été autant déçu. Je comprend très bien que présentement il sont en manque de plein de choses. Mais le fonctionnement et l'organisation de l'hôtel ne devrait pas être si mal géré. La plage pleine de déchets ** du jamais vu** ici je ne parle pas d'algues je parle bien de déchets (soulier, tube de pate à dents, bouteille d'huile, assiette et oui même des chaise en bois). Le manque de stations au buffet, **terrible**, des attentes de plus de une heure pour avoir ce qui restait, disons pas much, à la viande, aux pâtes et aux pizzas. Les plates du buffet toujours froids même si tu arrivais en premier, plaques chauffantes non fonctionnels. Sur un côté positif, les travailleurs étaient super gentils, les piscines et l'aménagement étaient super propres, la température superbe et les activités (catamaran et Jeep) super bien à faire. Est-ce que je vais retourner à Cuba? Oui. Est-ce que je vais retourner à Holguin? je dis pas oui je dis pas non. Est-ce que je vais retourner au Sanctuary Grand Memories Holguin? Non.

We were at starfish guardalavaca , the front desk was rude and not helpful. Food was ok but they try to charge you for missing towel (20 usd ) we exchanged the hand towel to a shower towel and they said the small towel was missing. Didn’t have enough time to check inventory before the airport bus leaves. Said the plate and cups (20usd )was missing from us taking it to the room. Avoid please.

Hotel older but well kept very clean Lobby , buffet spacius clean good WIFI good food for Cuba lacking with drinks do no Tonic Water somethimes no Coke ..limited fruits and non alchoclic drinks.Nice Beach .

My daughter and I were there over Christmas holidays, and we were so disappointed. I had been there 3 times prior and enjoyed the experience. We were given a sub par room, no working phone, no thermostat adjustment to AC, room very musty and humid, signs of water damage. Spent 3-4 hours convincing front desk to move us. They did not show must interest. Swimming pool was green, grounds of resort unkept and broken down in a lot of areas The food was horrible, fatty pork, beans and plain pasta. No fruits or vegtables. Lots of empty buffet containers. They do not replace when empty. Stale dried out buns and bread. No butter, salt, pepper, no mustard at times. Tiny paper napkins maybe at table. La Pippa 24hour restaurant, only hot dog on white bread...nothing else. Al a Carte was not what was on the menu. You were given two choices, cheapest poor quality choices. Alcohol was Havana Club, not much else. No mixes except slushy sugar water or tonic. The beach and ocean were beautiful and most of the staff were very Kind. Entertainment staff don't do much but dance at side of pool, worst I have ever seen. Evening shows were dismall, nobody in the seats watching.

The lobby area is attractive and is centre for restaurants, entertainment and bars. The Ocean view room is well situated for pool and beach and 5 minute walk to lobby etc The beach and pool areas were great. The room was spacious and well equipped but a little run down but bed and seating were fine. The grounds in that area were not groomed and no direct view of beach but most of grounds were nice. Food was ok, nothing spectacular but plentiful (except no bacon, limited fruit and no potatoes so do not expect fries). Some professional musicians (flute, classical guitar, viola) were excellent and rest of entertainment average! Staff excellent and most spoke excellent English.

The resort, beach, pool, grounds, were beautiful but the efficiency and quality of service must be improved significantly specially in the main buffet area. This place was not at all organized and people stood in line for hours to get food. Many empty trays were not refilled in a timely manner. The layout of the main dining area has to be redone to ensure the flow of traffic is optimized. We were lucky that we booked the premium class and so we had more options for food. The snack bar didn't have condiments like ketchup or mustard. The pizza place next to the snack bar was not in service most of the time. The wifi worked only for 2 days out of our 7 night stay which is unacceptable. Another example is at the bites restaurant for breakfast, they had just 1 burner operating for the egg station creating unnecessary lineups. There were several impractical issues that made our stay unpleasant. Many times toilet paper would run out in the public washrooms and would not be replaced. There were roaches in the Japanese and Italian restaurants as well as in our rooms. On the positive side our butler, Carlos was an amazing individual and did whatever he could do satisfy our needs.We did enjoy the international/Mediterranean restaurant. We did get a free lobster dinner on Christmas Eve which was nice. Most of the staff were pleasant. We feel sorry for the people but it appears that the management is creating inefficiencies that are going to drive tourists away from this resort. We won't be going back to this resort.

Keep in mind that this hotel is 2h bus drive from the airport in the very secluded part of Cuba, there is one hotel close to it but it is shut down, so if privacy is critical for you this is the place for you. However, having a small buffet for 300+ tourists with lineups to go into the buffet is not acceptable, multiple roaches (5+ roaches) roaming around the Japanese restaurant made us leave this a-lacarte booking before the cooking begun. Great weather and lack of mosquitos somehow made up for these deficiencies, although after 15 visits to Cuba things are getting worse each time, which is unfortunate.

When going to Cuba, you go to enjoy the ocean, snorkeling, weather and hospitality of Cuban people. I must say we got it all with this resort. The resort is safe for kids to run around, to get ice cream and snacks. Entertainment team is amazing at creating a holiday like atmosphere. They are great with kids of all ages, and it allows parents to relax as well. Rooms are clean, AC works well, no issues with water or electricity. Food is minimal at this time, however we were not hungry. It is our third time at the resort and we are planning to go back. It is just an hour away from the airport. Wi-fi works great, even at the beach.

We have just spent a week at this beloved resort, but regretfully will not be going back. We fully understand Cuba’s difficulties, but the resort is becoming run down/tired. The younger staff have mostly left, very little animation team. The buffet, (understanding the difficulties) never changes. I agree with have a Cuban feel for the food is important, it is very difficult to eat the same offerings day in and day out. Only at breakfast we saw boiled eggs. That was the only change from the steam line in all three meals. It is not difficult to become creative with leftovers and introduce change on the steam line. The beds are exhausted and the pillows are completely done. There is problems with water and hot water, which we feel the resort should consider a top priority. Unable to switch towels, because of this. (We also bring our own towels) thank goodness! The staff that are there are always amazing, we feel they try their best to give great service with the lack of resources. I feel that we can get better bang for our buck elsewhere.

We did the vip section was amazing great service and food was great no complaints at all also the concierge service was over and above when you needed anything at all very relaxing in areas and if you need a little more energy there was areas for that as well

This resort is our second home. We have being going to this resort since 2013. The staff are amazing. Didn't see one mosquito. The food is the food. Did ala carte dinners, went to 24 hour for breakfast. The beach is beautiful, the sun is hot and the beer is cold. Rooms are clean. Can't wait to return next year.

The staff and service were really good it was clean, the food was what I expected in Cuba, there is a fair bit to do in the area Some nice restaurants not far off the resort, my least favourite part was the beach being a bit rocky as you waked out, not everywhere and nothing some water shoes couldn’t take care of all in all a great vacation

Nice resort, well maintained grounds, friendly staff. decent food, good service, big clean rooms. We have returned to this resort many times in the last fifteen years and hope to return again sometime in the future.

I had a wonderful experience at this resort. I highly recommend going if you’re looking to relax. The crowd seemed to be largely 40+ with a mix of couples and solo travellers. It was an hour bus ride from the airport. I was surprised to find that my room had been upgraded to the ‘Royal Service’ section. The Royal room was incredibly nice, large closet, spacious bathrooms and tub and the outdoor shower was the best I’ve ever seen. The Royal restaurant had great al a carte food options. The Royal pool and beach were definitely quieter and more relaxed but great if you want the privacy. The main pool was large and had music and activities everyday. The main beach had a good spot for snorkeling and a hut to request equipment or go sailing. The food at restaurants was presented beautifully on the plates. I wasn’t expecting anything much from the cuisine in cuba, but it tasted pretty good. I highly recommend the Japanese experience. The entertainment was great, the dancers were so fun to watch. The resort grounds were well kept and had some nice paths for going on a walk. There’s also a small horse ranch just over the bridge with a few animals. They offer horse rides through trails or on the beach. The animals looked rather skinny, but the riding experience was pleasant! The gym was decent with a small selection of equipment, and free weights. The spa unfortunately was under renovation. The staff were all very friendly and provided exceptional service.

Polite staff, good food including every day seafood. Loud music by swimming pool is only between 3-5 pm. If you don't like it , the long beach provide excellent escape with the bar in sufficient distance from swimming pool "noise".

Overall the hotel, grounds and people are wonderful. Unfortunately the shortages of food and supplies are beyond the control of the hotel personnel. The people of Cuba are wonderful hard workers and are doing their best to create a GREAT guest experience with what little supplies they are receiving to work with.

Food (with full expectation for Cuba limited food choices based on multiple Cuba trips) was completely unbearable. If planning diet/weight loosing trip than it is right place. It looks like Melia managment chooses which weeks to provide normal food and which are bare minimum to survive. Beside the food, great hotel/beach/fellow tourists/service

Brisas Guardalavacca Many good memories here!! December 2025 was my 7th time So many things l love about this resort. It needs some renovations and fixing but for the most part the people working here are all lovely. All it takes is a little personal interest and they will do their best to serve and help you. It’s nice to have the choice of the activities, music and snack bar on one side of the beach, where the hotel is facing, and if you’re like me l chose the Villa side which allowed me to enjoy the sounds of nature. This resort has many features l like but it surely needs the bathrooms renovated both in the hotel and in the villas. I will go back and recommend it to my friends.

My wife and I stayed at this resort in October 2024 and were so impressed that we decided to return for a second visit. Unfortunately, our recent experience was very different and did not reflect the quality of our previous stay. This resort is not operating at the same standard as it did last year. Whether due to changes in management, current conditions in Cuba, or resource limitations, the overall experience was disappointing. I have stayed at 2.5-star resorts more than 20 times over the past 25 years and have never previously felt compelled to complain about food quality. However, during this stay, the food was extremely difficult to tolerate. There was no fresh fruit available other than cucumbers, no fresh vegetables, and most food was either canned or heavily prepared with mayonnaise. Housekeeping was also an issue. On the third day of our stay, the chambermaid removed our waste paper bin and did not replace an empty roll of toilet paper. I went to the front desk and politely requested a replacement. I was informed that housekeeping would be contacted; however, it took approximately a day and a half for toilet paper to be delivered. During this time, we were forced to use serviettes taken from the kitchen. I do not take writing negative reviews lightly, and I have never spoken poorly of any vacation I have had in Cuba. That said, this experience was both disappointing and unacceptable compared to our previous visit.

This review needs to be in the context of the difficulties that Cuba is currently facing (Dec 2025) with fuel shortages which is causes blackouts on the Island, loss of Wifi in the resorts, and apparent shortages of foods such as fresh fruit and vegetables. Lack of Wifi meant I had to use "Roam like Home" for data for my phone at my own expense for much of the 7 day trip. Food shortages meant a very limited and repetitive menu for breakfast lunch and dinner, with a few exceptions. Cuba has never been a destination for foodies, but variety was significantly more limited than on my previous trips to Cuba. The resort itself was not well laid out. The reception was at the top of a hill which made accessibility difficult for older guests with walking limitations. There was no way to phone them - room phones were not working. Communication was lacking. I had to get departure times and arrangements from another guest. Rooms were clean and well serviced. Staff in general were not as friendly as I had been used to though. Again, this may be related to the hard times Cubans are having due to oil embargoes on the island. The vacation was overall good value. The sun and beaches were great. Transportation to and from the resort was efficient and comfortable. On the downside, I reserved and paid for seats with more legroom on the SunWing website, but these were not communicated to WestJet, so I ended up in regular seats, and now have to seek a refund. Perhaps a downside of booking a vacation like this is that there are many entities involved (TripCentral, SunWing, WestJet Nexus and the Resort). It is difficult to know who to contact or who is responsible if things go wrong.

This is an amazing resort even though it's not a 5 star resort, but because the staff are amazing. Also the repeat tourist are happy and friendly and make your stay more relaxing and enjoyable. The food selection is basic but good, you will not starve. The beach is great and the pool is clean both are good to cool off in after being in the hot sun. Sometimes there are shortages in some food and booze but that is only because of the lack of tourist. The more tourist the resort gets the more supplies they can purchase. We have been going to this resort for 17 years and will go back again because I really enjoy it there. I also want to thank Rick Lockhart from Tripcentral for all his help booking my trips over the years, I really enjoy dealing with Rick because of his helpfulness and friendly personality.

Very attentive wait staff. Wonderful very clean beach. Pool was ideal. Will definitely make sol rio our annual go to resort in cuba To top it off...the airport in Holguin is so easy to fly in and out of

I stayed at the hotel from December 1st to 12th. The weather was varied: wind, rain, but mostly sunshine. Temperatures ranged from 23 to 28C. Water temperature was around 27C. My room was on the second floor. Everything would have been fine, but the refrigerator didn't work, nor did the TV remote. I couldn't get the air conditioning to work properly. Renovations were underway in the adjacent rooms. The picture is clear. The food was so good that no one starved to death. The brownish tap water was also drinking water. I won't repeat the many well-known typical complaints. The snack bar worked well, better than expected. But the loud, annoying "music" drove people away from the pool next to the bar. The area around the pool was always empty. There was no shade, and the pounding noise (music) was nonstop. Add to this the constant shouting of the staff and local guests everywhere. The beach is excellent, or rather, two small ones. There's enough shade. The sand is perfect. No need for beach shoes. Nature lovers won't have it easy. The forest is far, and the paths through it were half-overgrown with thorny bushes. There are plenty of coral reefs in the surrounding sea, but they're mostly dead. Otherwise, the hotel is very good for a three-star hotel.

PROS: The rooms were beautiful, modern and very clean! The staff overall were exceptional - friendly and helpful! Both the beach and pool were stunning! Overall the food was very good, but the Indian and Japanese restaurants were EXCEPTIONAL! CONS: Customer service and guest service departments transferred us back and forth when we were looking for supplies at times (water, toilet paper, etc). It would make more sense to have one department that cares for the combined workload

We travelled as a couple along with another couple of friends. It was a long way from airport to the hotel, about 2 hours.The hotel is nice with very well maintained grounds.The room was very clean and lovely decorated every day. The view from our balcony was amazing. The beach was clean, but rocky in the water. There are many pools enough for everyone. All the employees were friendly and helpful. Everyday, the manager was supervising the main buffet, and greeting the tourists.There wasn't much variety of food, almost no vegetables and fruits, but we didn't starve. Not much variety of drinks as well, and the coffee had a weird taste like burnt.The staff did their best with what they had. Junior, the most friendly barman in the resort, made us Canchanchara, a traditional Cuban drink and told us the story around it. As Premium class, we got an Exclusive dinner with music show and nice food. Entertainment was pretty light especially at night time, I believe because the resort was not so busy. Overall, for the money we paid it was great. Our butlers, Yosbel and Raciel, made our vacation wonderful. Our designated room had a mouldy smell, but Yosbel managed to give us a better room. Communication with them was flawless via WhatsApp.They made all our a la carte restaurant reservation, send us daily activities schedule, checked on us every day to see if everything is ok. We had a big surprise for my husband birthday; we requested to dine at the Japanese restaurant for the second time because we loved it first time, and Raciel made this possible. There, he decorated the spot with balloons and "Happy birthday" banner, brought us a cake with candle and a bottle of sparkling wine. Thank you guys, you are the best!

Older, quieter smaller resort with cottage charm. Beautiful beach, snorkeling, beach walks, and sunsets. Friendly atmosphere. Comfortable beds, Wi‑Fi, eggs, ice cream, a‑la‑carte options, snack bar, limited fresh produce, good wine. Great value for solo and mature travelers seeking calm by the water.

Just got back from a week at Playa Costa Verdes. It was my first travelling alone and this was a great place to try it out. I felt safe all the time. The grounds were beautiful. And bit the beach and pool were well kept and so gorgeous. I spent a relaxing week, met some great people and made memories.

I have been going to this hotel since it was called BLEU COSTA VERDE. I have been here MANY times and made many friends along the way. This is the only time that i was not satisfied with my services. I'm not one to complain because i understand the situation going on in cuba. My room was horrible

Overall we had an enjoyable stay here. The property itself is beautiful and well laid out. The beach was beautiful with warm and clear water. No seaweed. Mosquitoes very minimal as they spray often. Rooms could have been better. Mattresses were not overly great, bathroom had a strong sewer odour, and there were intermittent periods without water which was frustrating. Food was typical Cuban fare, got a bit repetitive but we always found something to eat. Snack bar was the best lace to get fresh food with a beautiful view overlooking the ocean.

Every time we choose to go to Cuba, we swear it is the last time. But undoubtedly, we go back because of the price point. This resort lacks in many respects. Some of the issues may be seasonal (the mosquitos at the beach devoured us - mostly because there is a jungle right behind the beach - so bring bug spray if you choose this resort). The food situation was remarkably poorer than usual. There were little to no fruits available. All the dairy and proteins look suspect. I get it, their supply chain limitations are evident. The Beach - this was a bit of a disappontment. You hope that the lack of food and amenities is offset by a beautiful beach. That is not the case. Most of the water has sharp rocks that you have to bypass in order to get to a slightly clearer area. Essentially no running into the water. Then there is the aforementioned mosquitos - you can't see them, but they pack a punch - at least 50-60 bites that I still have healing now several days back. Also the beach is sort of off to the side of the resort, not like where you walk from the resort to beach. Also, maybe seasonal, but there is not lunch restaurant open to go from the beach. We had to come all the way back to the buffet for a bite to eat at lunch. We ended up just asking for a burger at the pool bar to take to the beach. The service is great, everyone is friendly and willing to help out with a smile - I guess this is the one thing they have under their control. The entertainment is sparse, so don't expect a show at night. They have some activities for kids and not much else. There is no "club" to go to dance, mostly just tables in a terrace area where you can sit and drink. The rooms are decent, and they are well attended to. The water in the sink and shower is a murky yellow. Make sure you have bottled water on the counter to brush your teeth. Also in our particular room the water would not drain quickly, probably because of the sand that people shower off. I'm not sure. We did enjoy great weather which can be a saving grace. Enjoy!

It depends what you book. You can book basic room, junior deluxe, deluxe and royal service. If I come again, I would book at least junior deluxe suite. We had A C broken and it took few hours to be fixed and then after fixing it , I had to call again for someone to come and clean up the mess. All my stuff in the bathroom by the sink was wet. The resort is quieter than others, and it is older (more than 20 years old) Our beach was small and rocky (good for snorkeling). You could go to the next resort beach and swim there. People complain about beach chairs, that there was not enough of them. Food and entertainment were great.

This was our 2nd stay at this resort. It is still very new and kept very clean . Has an easy access to the lovely beach . Gardens are beautiful , you see gardeners working on them all day . Rooms are specious and beds are very comfortable. Staff is wonderful and very attentive. They will do anything to make your stay more pleasant. So overall we are very pleased with our stay and would recommend to visit. The only thing negative there is hardly any entertainment. Was tired of disco music every night . We love true Cuban music . Makes the vacation more magical and unique. Also would like to see more activities around the pool.

We had a great time in Holguin. As usual in Cuba there are items that are not available but staff always aim to please and make things great. Overall, no complaints once we got to the resort. Our flight from Toronto was delayed for over 7 hours which made us miss the whole first day but the rest of the trip was good. Upgrading to premium was a bonus to ensure that we had access to a butler (Marlon and Yannel). We spend most of our time at the Sanctuary Pool which was never over-crowded. The bus ride to the resort is close to 2 hours but is pretty scenic at least. Overall, I enjoyed my time at the resort.

First of all I want to thank to Yosbel and Raciel for their effort.In fact all the personell is doing their job. There is a well maintened resort but water shoes are a must. The coffee was the worst I ever drink
