This hotel and it's staff are just amazing. We are repeat guests and it gets better every time. We stayed at the Level on this trip and the accommodation was second to none. I love that it is a pet friendly resort and the pets that live there are well loved by staff and guests. The lobby is the coziest place and you will never have a problem finding a place to sit and relax. Staff work around the clock to keep the lobby clean and inviting The food and service at all the restaurants were simply the best! Steps away from the ocean and free golf! What else can you ask for? I will definitely return to this resort.

This hotel was amazing. My friend and I had a regular room in the hotel. Did not see any need to book the Level, too many stairs. .Our room was spotlessly clean, lots of storage room and such comfortable beds. The air conditioning was perfect and our balcony overlooked the golf course/ Our room maid, Odalys, was excellent, supplied us every day with clean towels, clean bed linen and lots of water. Great to have a safe in the room. Big thank you to all the staff, they were so kind, happy and could not do enough for us. To name a few, Julio, Cecilio, Dany, Yuslay (especially sweet) Guiseppi, Yanellis & Elizabeth at the front desk and the two "kids" I wanted to adopt, Laurie and Adrian, and the lady bar manager, sorry I can't remember her name. The food was very good, especially the omlettes in the morning, and of course the bread and the ice cream yummy. The beaches were fabulous, lovely for going for a stroll along the water. Beach bar and toilets were convenient on the beach.The swimming pool was great, and not busy at all. Lovely to lie and relax and read your book. Being a cat person, I loved all the well groomed cats who were very well looked after, they loved to lounge in the sun. We had four meals at the speciality restaurant and they were delicious. Will definitely come back to this resort, The people have so little. We brought lots of stuff down for the staff and their children, and they are so grateful. It just breaks my heart with the situation at the moment, all the hotels closing and the beautiful people not being able to work and they have so little yet are so loving,

I should have gone with very low expectations. Food was low quality and minimal variety. Room did not have hot water or all the toiletries. Room was cold with no heat. Internet was unreliable. Ants and spiders were crawling everywhere.??

I had a wonderful time at Melia Las Americas. WE were originally booked for 14 days,however had to return 4 days early, because of ongoing problem with cuba having fuel shortages. The hotel did a fantastic job during our stay, it was my third time at this resort and I would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful beach, beautiful grounds, and more importantly absolutely amazing staff.. They were wonderful event facing what they have to face, you couldn’t tell, always a smile on their faces. Not sure why below youre asking for my email when it was you who sent this to me by email??

Great place, amazing people, good food. The beach and water- I don’t have to say it as we should all know that Cuba has the best beaches and water! Good entertainment and a lovely place to escape and recharge.

Nice resort, aesthetically it's great everything feels new, rooms are nice and comfy for Cuban standards. Pool is nice and the beach is amazing. The only thing i would say is there is not much going on in terms of activities.. specially for kids. As for food, the buffet was okay. We booked the A la Carte restaurants but they were not nice, similar to the buffet and one of them was not even open when we showed up. Also, there are many bars but food wise, you only have the buffet, the bars/small snack bars don't have much to eat.

I wanted to share my feedback about the stay Eliana arranged for us at Melia Las Americas in Varadero this February. The beach was absolutely beautiful — soft white sand and clear, clean water. It never felt overcrowded; there was always plenty of space and we could easily find available chairs and umbrellas. The same was true for the pool area, which was quiet and relaxing with very few people. Although the rooms are a bit dated and could use some refreshing, they were clean and had everything we needed. The hotel itself, however, was fantastic and very well maintained. The long terrace running the length of the property was impressive, furnished with beautiful seating and offering a beach view from almost anywhere. There was plenty of space for everyone to relax comfortably. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of the buffet food — there was something for every taste. There was also a wide selection of alcohol, including wine that was quite drinkable. The à la carte restaurants were good and reservations were relatively easy to get. Service throughout the resort was very good, and the Sunwing representative was especially helpful, patient, and friendly. From our perspective, this hotel offered more charm and better views than the other resorts along the same stretch of beach. Most guests seemed to be golf groups, since the hotel is within walking distance of the golf course. Entertainment was minimal during the day and limited in the evening, so it may not be ideal if lively activities are a priority. Overall, we would definitely return to this hotel and we highly recommend it. Thank you again for arranging a wonderful trip.

For our third time at this resort we upgraded to a Level room. The rooms are the same as the regular side, but we had no direct view of the ocean, so we petitioned for another upgrade to oceanview and got it as a repeat customer. There was a travel advisory on (later upgraded to a warning) so the place was less busy than usual. The rooms are clean, the beds comfortable and the bathroom well appointed - and it would have been nice to have some hot water in the shower, but it's Cuba. The resort has new lounge chairs around the pools and the beach and plenty of palapas for shade. As usual the beach was spectacular, with people cleaning out any seaweed each morning. Food was great especially the Cuban a la carte (there was a lamb special) and of course the desserts were delicious and never-ending! The staff were amazing - they had heard the rumours of travel warnings and the oil embargo but carried on regardless. Many of them may not have jobs soon if the US actions continue. It was a little cool and windy for Cuba, so it was amusing to see our Cuban travel rep in a winter coat, complete with fur collar right next to Canadian tourists still in their bikinis desperately trying to soak up the sun while they can. Great for my tennis though.

The best place ever. Totally relaxing place. If that is what your looking for. Food was great with no shortages. Our butler Melia was awesome and was always checking on our needs. The staff on this resort are the best always friendly and helpful. Can't wait till next year to return.

Our vacation at Melia Cayó Coco was absolutely amazing. The grounds are beautiful. The resort common areas, restaurants, pool area, bathrooms and bar areas are extremely clean. Rooms are cleaned daily. The staff are very friendly. The ocean is incredible. The food was delicious. Food is available 24 hours a day. There is nightly entertainment. During the day there is dance lessons, games, Spanish lessons, billiard tables, tennis courts. There are plenty of loungers both at the pool and on the beach. There is a little library. You can be as leisure or as active as you choose. I can’t wait to return!

The resort was nice but as with many hotels in Cuba the rooms could use some upgrading however the beds were comfortable. Food at the buffets and Ala carts were very good. Very good variety of food and drinks. Entertainment was very good as well.

Well I can certainly understand why this resort was named Paradisus. It is indeed a tropical paradise! The grounds are beautifully landscaped, showcasing nature at it's best! When you arrive at the front of the resort on the Royal Service side, you will be in awe of the spectacular view of the ocean amidst the lush vegetation and coral rock. The walking paths very pleasant to wander on. You could stroll through the Botanical Garden or take a guided walk accross the bridge to visit an ecological reserve.The staff on both sides, Royal service and standard service were very friendly, professionnal and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed all À la carte restaurents. The food was delicious and masterly presented! We never had any food shortages at the buffet on the standard side. There were however no bananas and pineapple when we were there due to Hurricane Melissa that destroyed many plantations. However, plenty of fresh papaya, guava, watermelon, sweet potato, pumpkin and different fresh juice such as mango and many, many fresh pastries and ice cream for you to enjoy! There were however a few minor hiccups. The check in was a litttle confusing. Upon arrival from the airport, we waited for 30 minutes in the main lobby before speaking with the frontdesk and there was only a handful of us getting off the bus. After 15 minutes of speaking with the front clerk, she told us that we would get a shuttle to the royal service side. We waited another 10-15 minutes for our shuttle and upon arrival to the Royal side, waited a little longer. By that time, we were famished and tired. I don't know why, we were not asked as soon as we got off the bus, what service we had reserved and then go from there? The service provided after that was exceptional! The rooms on the Royal service side were very spacious. We were in the last building 9400. This building is just across from the path that leads to the private Royal Service Beach. If you want to get your 10 000 daily steps in, this is the building to be in. It is a little further away from the lobby, however there is a shuttle that you can request from your butler at any time to pick you up and drive you to your desired location. The outside shower was quite pleasant and it had a strong flow. However, when there was a downpour, we had to be mindful of the leaking bathroom window; for the bathroom floor would flood and it could get slippery especially during those nightly bathroom visits. The entertainment was top notch! We saw and heard opera singers, other talented singers, musicians and magic acts. The beach club staff was amazing, always wanting you to try something new: darts, learning spanish, dancing, history, tours around the resort, yoga, pickle ball, tennis.... We love visiting Cuba for the people, their culture and the beaches! We have met many return visitors at this resort and I can honestly say that I understand why!

The hotel is around 30 years old and is starting to show its age. We were there for two weeks and enjoyed our stay. Typical Cuba the food was sufficient but very repetitive with shortages starting to show, they ran out of white wine, Gin, Cola, coffee was Spanish not Cuban. We had to be moved from the first room they put us in on the royal side (7136) block as nothing worked, hair dryer, lights and plugs, the furniture was really beaten up and the view was of nothing! They moved us to 7242 with a view of the pool which was better but still furniture was well worn or broken, some plugs worked, patio doors were damaged and didn't lock. The bed was comfortable and linens clean. The shower preasure was low and some days no hot water to shower in. The last day there we woke up to water pouring in around a ceiling light due to roof leaking. The grounds are very well kept and looks good but you start to see the flaws in the resort on the first day in. I'm sure there are worse resorts in varadero and unfortunately for the shortages we wouldn't stay there again. We love Cuba and have been there 9 times and love it. Shame it's being targeted by the Trump regime.

I would recommend this resort 10 out of 10 for cleanliness. The staff were excellent. There was a wide range of food select selection. We were all really happy with the resort it was by far the best resort I have been to in Cuba.

beautiful grounds garden but the bartenders very arrogant they always expect tips without doing a good job they make you they make you wait to attend you they talking to each other laughing and they ask you after 5 to 10 minutes seems like they`re doing you a favor and the food just warm never hot the worse worst experience ever had in Cuba and i was in royal service that is not worth the money was a bartender in the morning shit never smile if you ask him for something that the bar do not had he replies go and see the manger been rude like he does not need are business he does not have the attitude to serve guests in this hotel and some waiters to .i been 7 times in Cuba, 5 times in Varadero 2 times in Cayo Coco this was my first time and last time in Holguin because of some employees don't deserve to work there. and thanks for nothing i had work hard for my money when i was young. let them work hard to. they are not in vacation ,but they are their to serve us not doing a favor to us as clients...

Cuba is definitely hurting and you can start to see if in the resorts and golf course. Just getting simple supplies for washrooms withing main lobby (ie. hand soap, toilet paper) seemed to be an issue for the staff. Overall the resort is a nice layout with beautiful views of the ocean. The beach is nice but the maintenance of cleaning up the seaweed was bad (some guy drives a tracker sort of dragging and mulching up the seaweed so it never if all that nice to walk on. The water is nice and didnt have seaweed floating in it. The week we were there it was chilly and extremely windy so in the week we were there, we went in water once. Even the pools which looked nice didnt have anyone in them due to temp. The golf course needs some real care but the workers are too busy selling golf balls vs working. They only cut greens once (maybe twice) during week. They are short on machinery and don't seem to be in a rush to replace them. The carts are ok but they are definitely short of them and staff was saying management wasn't being quick to fix or bring new ones in. The tees had very little grass so most tees were simply sand. Fairways were ok but very dry. The greens were running really bumpy and slow. But you have to remember you are in Cuba. Advertised as golf included but at $44USD per player, this equated to $130 CDN for 2 of us each round. They should simply state that as the cost as you cant walk. The food was surprisingly really good with lots of variety. Beer and wine were enjoyable. The specialty restaurants were a nice break from Dining hall. Most people that we met that had the LEVEL upgrade didn't think it was worth it. Our room was very nice and clean. Showers were always with luke warm water. Tipping was crazy. It seemed (although not mandatory) that people were tipping for every drink, every meal, every visit to the grill, guys getting carts ready, etc. Did make you feel guilty when you didnt tip. Staff was very grateful when we left clothing items for them (eg. windbreaker, golf cap, couple dresses, etc. For the price it was good but need to manage expectations.

The resort was lovely, not too big or small. The grounds were lovely, especially the incredible sandy beach. What really made the trip special was the staff, Alex and Luis from the animation team, and Leo and Marise from the pool bar especially. Incredible effort was put into providing a variety of dishes with limited resources; many options are available, even for picky eaters.

I had low expectations going to Cuba however the stay exceeded those low expectations 1 Towel in room despite asking staff for additional towels. Repeated daily staff was not helpful rooms were not clean limited food with extremely long wait times for cooked meals - 30-45 mins flat draft beer - had to buy canned beer closed pool bars had to walk across the resort to the lobby to get a drink Buffet was better then a la carte and that says a lot as the buffet was horrible Sewers overflowing walked in feces and toilet paper First time on vacation that I was counting the days to go home My trust for trip central has gone down

Beautiful resort friendly staff lots of great food and very clean will definitely return there was no shortages on anything cannot wait to return the snack bar had always lots to choose from buffet lots of selection and la carts are amazing if you visit Cuba make this your first choice

The resort was fantastic, the food was excellent and no shortages of any food at all. Staff was fantastic and very welcoming. I would absolutely return tomorrow if I could but I will be going back.

My wife and I stayed at Meliá Varadero and had a very pleasant experience overall. The resort is clean, the rooms are well maintained, and the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. When we requested a king-size bed, they couldn’t do it the first night but moved us to a renovated room the next day as promised. The food was fair and good for Cuba, with a consistent variety including chicken, beef, fish, and pork. We did not experience any major food shortages, despite some reviews suggesting otherwise. Having stayed at several resorts in Varadero before, I would say this has been the best overall experience so far. Overall, I would recommend this resort—provided you set your expectations appropriately and remember that this is Cuba, not Aruba or some of the higher-end Caribbean destinations. With that mindset, it’s a very enjoyable place to stay.

Loved the smaller size, not a lot of walking to get to places. Adult only. Wide, long beach, white sand. Great for walks. Oceanview room. Great local entertainment. No shortages of food or drink. Great red wine and food A la cart restaurants. The best customer sercive!

After a countless number of visits to this wonderful resort, it once again did not disappoint. Everything from the lush well tended gardens to food presentation was above expectations. But it is the staff, who have become a second family, that push this resort above all others! Lina Cordovez, the Royal Service Manager, always does all in her power to make our stay perfect. We are always amazed when the Los Helechos team remembers what our favourite beverages are AND even my bell pepper allergy! EACH and EVERY one of them go above and beyond! I will not name everyone for fear of missing someone. Yalienny and Marisely, with their beautiful smiles, are the best bartenders/baristas in Cuba. We came out purring after our couples massages which, even with the ongoing renovations, were professional and relaxing. Thanks to Yanis Brown for arranging our spa time. Each of the a la carte restaurants and buffet offer many delicious choices and unique experiences. While we are well aware of the everyday struggles of our Cuban friends, the smiles and service provided is a tribute to the dedication of the team at this resort. Do yourself and favour and go see for yourself!

The resort has a large number of small buildings rather than one huge hotel. With the pathways around the area there is an all round peaceful feeling. Nice beach with some coral at the end for snorkeing.

We loved our stay here during our first trip to Cuba. The staff were very friendly and eager to help. Amazing beach and we never had trouble finding a chair. The pool was very quiet possibly because the beach conditions we so good during our visit. The food was decent despite the horror stories some people might tell you but I think they might have exaggerated a little. Some choices were limited such as fruits and vegetables. There was tons of guava and pineapple but nothing else fruit wise. There were lots of vegetables were limited to canned corn, cabbage, canned peas, canned baby corn and a few other choices that came and went. Pork and fish were plentiful and there was chicken legs one day. No beef. There's always food available even if the buffet is closed, just go to the sit down restaurant/bar off the lobby and you can order a sandwich or hamburger. There was plenty to drink especially if you like rum. I recommend Havana Especial, pineapple juice and a splash of coconut rum. Don't expect a large variety of pop, they only had Cuban cola (no sugar free options) and a lemon pop that was like lemon concentrate mixed with sugar and carbonated water. We were in a basic room which was great. AC was loud but didn't bother us. The only complaint about the room was that it seemed damp but the room may have been unoccupied for with no AC for days before we got there in that humid climate. The room was the first in the hall which meant the furthest from the end/ocean/view. If you have the option when checking in ask for a room at the end of the hall if you want a nicer view. There is a open top, hop on/hop off double decker bus that stops and the neighbouring Plaza de Americas. For $5USD you can use it for the day to get to Varadero or do a loop of the whole peninsula. It comes about every 40 minutes. Please tip the staff, the Cubans are wonderful people in a tough situation.

The Level Suites Suites are showing signs of wear. The Oceanview Level suits had very poor showers. Often no pressure and Luke warm. The food in the buffet was just ok. They changed to coffee machines vs. Waiters serving coffee, so it created big line ups A lot of the path lighting was out or damaged. We asked that the bulb outside out unit be changed on the first day and they never did get it done.

Overall quite satisfied. The rooms were large and well maintained. No power , air conditioning or hot water issues. The food in the buffet was varied, plentiful and tasty. Assortment of salad and fruit available, as well chicken, beef , pork, and sometimes lamb, shrimp or calamari. Keeping in mind that you are not going to see steak and lobster at this price point. The a la cartes were good as well. The drinks were good. Good entertainment and excellent friendly service . Some minor shortages ( ran out of baileys after third day and limited choices late night in their 24 hour snack bar) , but really did not affect the quality of the stay. Fantastic beach, but the water a bit cold for my taste in January. I have paid way way more for a lesser experience in other places .

Rooms are extremely dated - lounge chairs on balcony were rusted not a chance we were sitting on them. Curtains were hanging off the curtain rod. Beach was not maintained (very sad to see) no activities on the beach and very limited activity around the pool during the day Food was the same every day at the buffet Drink selection was very limited Staff at the piano/ cigar and The Rock bar were very friendly I know this is Cuba and we did not go expecting a high class trip but this was a big disappointment and was happy when it was time to come home. This is not a 4.5 star resort

We had a great time at this resort. Room, food , staff and beach were wonderful. The entertainment was good at the lobby and theatre. The golf was good the greens were a little rough. The views were great.

We had such a pleasant and relaxed time at Paradisus Rio d'Oro. The grounds are lovely, the rooms spacious and clean, the food tasty and plentiful. The staff work hard to keep all guests happy. The beach is beautiful white sand and it's so soothing to watch and listen to the waves. It's a great place to escape winter for a while. It's no wonder that I met so many people who have been going there year after year.

This was our first time to this resort, 2nd time in Holguin area. Its a mature resort. Grounds are lush, beautifully taken care of. A La Carte restaurants dinners where delicious and service was excellent. Stayed on the Royal side section but checked out the main side also. Main beach and RS beaches where beautiful, snorkeling at both locations where awesome.

First time visit to this resort and I was wowed. I payed three star price and got five star treatment including receiving top shelf drinks by other five star hotels in cuba standards. The food in the buffet was good only it was lacking in quality, possibly being very early in the low season as the hotel only had fifty to possibly seventy-five persons. My only concern was the beach and pool area. The beach is not for playing on the beach and in the water. It was all coral and lots and lots of sea urchins, swim shoes are a must or receive painful stings from sea urchins tentacles, however the beach is great for snorkeling. The pool bar area is full of fly, too many so. Bring fly traps. The area is great for handicappers however wear sticky shoes as the large tiles are very slippery when wet, also many of the tiles are loose snd can be a trip hazard.$5:00usd shuttle into the city direct from the front entrance.

Could use a few improvements,, but overall one of the best resorts we have visited in Cuba over the last 40 years. The food was varied and plentiful. Entertainment was pretty good, definitely not a loud party place, which is what we were looking for on this trip.

Overall we were quite disappointed with this resort. We went with an open mind but found a lot of disappointment. We knew the food would be hurt and miss but we found we had to stick to pasta or chicken for the entire week. No fruit, no beef, pasta sauces were bland. Hotel check took 4 hours to get our room. Shower had no pressure. Not to mention I had all of my jewelry stolen out of my checked luggage which I know had nothing to do with the resort but just added to our experience.

The hotel and grounds were well kept. We did stay in The Level portion of the resort. The staff were very helpful with any of our requests. The pools were clean and the seating areas around them were well laid out. The food throughout the resort was well prepared and better than anticipated. We did take advantage of the golf course next door. I would return to this resort as it was a great holiday.

As usual once again Ali did not disappoint all suggestions and tips were right on point. We knew everything in mind before going and as expected nothing went wrong. The bungalow at Sol Palmera was ideal for our big family of 5. Will definitely come again the beach was beautiful.

We had an absolutely wonderful vacation at Paradisus Princesa Del Mar, January 16 - 23, 2026. The grounds are beautifully maintained, the room was also well kept and clean. The food was delicious, plentiful, and we especially enjoyed the freshly cooked turkey. Beach was amazing and the hotel staff were friendly and were happy to assist. I will definitely return!

The hotel was great, staff were friendly and always made us feel welcomed. The food was good, there were 2 snack bars to chose from and we knew that the food could be repetitive at the buffet so we used these to change things up. The beach is amazing, it is a bit of a climb to and from but there is a walkway without stairs, just a bit more of a walk. Our flight was cancelled on departure day and the staff were quick to rebook a room and kept us informed. We did the Bay Adventure excursion which was well worth it and also took the bus to a nearby market which was fun. We would return to this area and this resort.

I have stayed at this resort many times. They are amazing people and always go out of their way to help you with anything. The food is amazing at this resort. There are times when there are shortages such as butter and eggs but this is out of their control. The grounds keepers do a great job and the gardens are beautiful. The pool and pool bar are great and Leo and Maurice are great bartenders. As for the snack bar it’s great and they make wonderful pizzas. The bartenders there are always willing to please. The beach restaurant and bar are great and overlooks the ocean. It’s beautiful for lunch. The spa is stunning and the employees there are wonderful. I have always had a great vacation at this resort . The maid service is great and always keep the rooms immaculate. All in All great resort. The management is very helpful with any questions you may have

This is a great resort. Very impressed. It’s super close to the airport. It’s a large resort but not crowded. Guests were families, couples, older, younger. Fun but nothing crazy. The beach is beautiful and big, lots of chairs, sun or shade available. We walked the beach everyday multiple times per day. The sand is perfect, the ocean water looks like a huge pool. We went in January and had perfect weather, the water was so great for swimming. I wish there were small feet faucets when you exit the beach to wash the sand off your feet. Also, people should clean up after themselves, and not leave cups and plates on the beach. It’s disrespectful, I guess only lazy slobs do that. Maybe resorts should stop using plastic cups, people can bring their own travel mugs. The food was delicious, lots of variety, fresh fish, salads—cooked and raw. Breakfast omelettes, smoothies. Lunch, dinner — delicious!! Entertainment was good too. No issues with shortages in regards to alcohol or mixers. They always had gin and tonic! The rooms were very clean, comfortable and practical. No issues. The only minor issue was… I wish the sheets/pillowcases felt/smelled fresher. The staff are wonderful, especially Dannier, Migray (hilarious, we had such fun with her), and Nano at the snack bar. We will definitely return to this resort!!

This hotel needs some upgrade elevators not working and washrooms at pool and lobby inop needs attention. Food good but was cold on buffett . Worker very happy and pleasant . Hotel 28 years old needs updated

The place is showing its age but is well maintained. Saw groundskeepers every day and some upgrades being built, maybe a bar closer to the beach!! Housekeeping was top notch, room kept tidy with our constant coming and going. Appreciate the job they did. The main restaurant was a buffet with local fare, which is what I wanted. Always plenty of everything. Bars were stocked and never told me I couldn't have a beer! I would return.

Everything in this resort is beautiful, modern,clean,excellent service. I want to mention the waitress Leira for good service . One wish, aquariums with turtles and fish need cleaning. As for food, some meat dishes were oversalted

The hotel was great. We were happy with the food and the overall service. The weather was absolutely beautiful and we truly enjoyed our time. The rooms and hotel were clean, no issues with electricity, and no mosquitos during our stay (second week of January). However, a warning for passengers. We purchased items at duty free on our to Varadero (no issues). On our way back to Toronto, we packed those duty free items into our checked luggage. Upon arrival at Toronto, I noticed that not only were our luggage locks destroyed, but our duty free items were missing/stolen. Unfortunately, these items were stolen after we checked our luggage at Varadero Airport. We were a group of 10 travelling. This happened to three of us. Be careful what you pack. We had a wonderful trip, but this was a sad ending.

The hotel is one of the cleanest ones and well-maintained. I’ve ever stayed at the room the service everything was a five star, the meals, especially restaurants the snack bar. I would highly recommend this resort to anybody as a five star selection of the cocktails. The martini bar was fantastic.

The hotel was great. We were happy with the food and the overall service. The weather was absolutely beautiful and we truly enjoyed our time. The rooms and hotel were clean, no issues with electricity, and no mosquitos during our stay (second week of January). However, a warning for passengers. We purchased items at duty free on our to Varadero (no issues). On our way back to Toronto, we packed those duty free items into our checked luggage. Upon arrival at Toronto, I noticed that not only were our luggage locks destroyed, but our duty free items were missing/stolen. Unfortunately, these items were stolen after we checked our luggage at Varadero Airport. We were a group of 10 travelling. This happened to three of us. Be careful what you pack. We had a wonderful trip, but this was a sad ending.

Dirty , mildew pillows ,linens , holes in sheets,requested room spray for Pharaoh ants and large ants throughout our room.Either used our own mug or positioned shower head into toilet to fill tank for flushing..take toilet paper because it won't be refilled if your cleaning lady has a couple days off. suggested 2 twin beds because rooms weren't ready..Took king-size bed 3rd floor..needed blankets the closest doors I demanded maintenance they were hanging loose, Entertainment was tooo loud and what was offered was disgusting. No Cuban dancing or stage people interact..The beach totally disappointing..Garbage filthy lawn chairs, I realize nature is there but it was awful..Used the pool .about 5 employees plus 6 gardeners acknowledged us..Sunwing rep gave me the feeling she hated to see me..but Air Transat rep was a real charm made us feel welcomed. Our bags were taken in and departure day picked up w Victor great service..2 young ladies front desk exceptional service, young guy making pancakes , dinner and evening buffet outstanding performance..First time to Cayo Coco, 21st time to Cuba im a well seasoned traveler whom respects and understand Cuba ..We certainly didn't expect a 5 star to be this horrible..We look forward to visiting the area in Cuba we know best in a few months..thank you. Towel art was delightful as the gal cleaning..I'd be happy to send pictures most people we spoke with definitely mentioned they wouldn't be returning..Good luck ..oh and suggest 30cdn to buy meal at BBQ was best money spent..

People were lovely, very happy and accommodating. Food was ok. Pretty cold most of the time sadly. Lots of food was absent like salad, veggies and eggs but we made due. Smoking was allowed beside the buffet entrance, absolutely ridiculous. Should be removed immediately. Pool was cold so we could not swim. Entertainment staff were wonderful, ones who do activities.

Nice clean room, food is simple, but good, beach is great, staff are friendly! Had a great week! The 24 hour snacks, drinks, coffees, for in between meals! Drinks and beers were ice cold, very nice hotel

Good food, no shortages, amazing staff, very good drinks and bartender's. Recommend the Level for the lounge and check in/out. Great nightly entertainment. Great value for the price. Maid service was very good. Kept our room really clean and exchanged towels twice a day. Also refilled our fridge. Never had to ask for anything.

The washrooms at the pool seldom worked the ones in the lobby also. Elevator not working, food on buffet was cold always,alacarte restaurant was good, Hotel needs complete freshen up it’s dated.People we’re very good and polite. Good service all around

Hotel is new and kept in tip top shape. Comon area floors are swept and mopped daily. Rooms are big and clean. Landscaping is also top notch. Food is very good for Cuban standards. Great snorkeling! All staff is very friendly and attentive.

Booked and paid in FULL in June/July---get to resort, wrong room. Hotel did take care of that. They the day to fly home get 4 different delay messages then flight cancelation --Next day get notice of flight at 9PM then 3-4 other "delay" messages and at one point had us flying to Toronto then flip to Ottawa . Had to Pay $100 for baggage as the fees already paid referred to cancelled flight ?? The extra we paid to pick seats ($47-i think) again referred to the cancelled flight , so seats moved twice. Then an extra $52 for parking. Contact West Jet which send a email saying "if booked through an agency THEY must put in claim for disruption for "passengers rights" Contact Trip Central and get told, sorry we can do nothing contact West Jet Other than that GREAT TRIP and would recommend this resort to anybody--they treat you amazing. Food was great---beach is amazing

The Hotel was the perfect size for my wife and i as we arent into the Mega resorts anymore. The grounds were beautiful, the staff in general are amazing and kind.Room was newly renovated and posh. Lots of food and very few mosquitoes. My only rant about this resort would have to be about the pool. Needs a lil TLC and the fact that it wasnt a swim up bar made no sense, because its actually a swim up but not close enough to reach for a drink from the bartender

Grounds are very well kept with some interesting Art and Decorative features if you take the time to look. Rooms are spacious but do lack a bit of maintenance. Yes your choice of English speaking TV channels is limited, but I didn't spend my Vacation sitting in the room watching television or staring at the inside of our room. Food choices were adequate at the Main Buffett as we as the Pool and Beach Restaurants considering the shortages being experienced all over the Island. The Gourmet Restaurants were however disappointing possibly due to my choice of orders, Don't order Steak!, I could see the marks where the Jockey was beating on it before it landed on my plate..... Good thing Buffet was still open. Weight Loss was not a problem and my clothes continued to shrink. I would still rate this Resort above average for Cuba. Staff are extremely wonderful and if I had a Suitcase big enough, I would bring a few of them home. GOLDEN Rule of Travel #1 If you travel and expect things to be the same as they are at Home....... Stay Home! GOLDEN Rule #2 If all else fails..... Read Rule #1

This hotel is not a 4 star. It’s a 2 star. Elevators never worked. Have to use stairs. 10 minutes walk to the beach..If you need the bathroom when you are at the beach you have to walk 6 minutes to pool bathroom which is never working. So you have to go to the lobby washroom which is always broken and never any toilet paper. The hotel has no one to supervise cleaning in the building . The bathtub in the bedroom is disgusting. Food in buffet are always cold. To get the bus 10 minutes walk. If you have a mobility problem don’t go there. Not worth the money. Hotel needs total renovation.

Grounds were lovely and rooms were nice and spacious. Bed very comfortable and we loved the outdoor shower and water pressure. Food not plentiful and very repetitive. People were wonderful. No fresh fruit and everything was canned. I talked to others who paid A LOT less and had better food at Royalton or other non Melia resorts. I would only recommend if you want an excellent beach and spacious room with lots of privacy. Resort beach and pool hardly had anyone there so we loved that.

Hotel was well laid out, food was good, buffet had lots of food, no running out,big variety of alcohol.Entertainment was fantastic. All facilities were clean and working well. People were very friendly.

hotel was very clean and good food we stil like the horse an buggy we did we went whit him to un hicking trail . One ouwer hicking to the caves .that trip was perfect an on top hy made un meal for us .So al together we spent somewere 4 ouwers whit him ,wolking plus diner on the farm fore the cost off $50 dollars were he was happy whit. this was un wonderful day we will never forget

Overall great experience, you'll have a hard job finding a better resort in Cuba. Surprisingly good food, but fruit and vegetables were lacking the first couple days until an order arrived (still random shortages after that, no cola/no bacon). Royal service room was cleaned twice a day. No issues with towel/beach towels. Water in room everyday, beer and juice sometimes. Outside Shower was amazing, and lots of hot water. Main beach was better for swimming than Royal side, but Royal had better sand with quiet atmosphere. Staff were mostly great, (and responded faster with $ in your hand). A lot of walking if you didn't want to wait for the shuttle which was unreliable at times. Infinity pool in royal side lobby has a stunning view. Recommend Royal side if you want a more relaxing vacation. Travelled solo and the single supplement was high ($500), which makes it overpriced but great value if travelling as a couple.

I have to start with saying that Cuba is going thru some hard times and unfortunately it shows. I have been to this resort many times in the past and I have to be honest, I have seen a decline in the place. It is in desperate need of an up date. The grounds are beautiful but the rooms need a lot of work. in the many times that we have been to this resort, this was a bit of a disappointment. Again, I have to reiterate that Cuba is falling on hard times so this is not in any way the fault of theirs. The people that work there are the most nicest safest people you will ever want to meet. For all that they are going thru you would never tell. They are still so very friendly, loving and safest to be around. Love the Cuban people

The hotel was very nice beautiful inside, our room we stayed in was really great also the maid we had for the week was phenomenal she was so kind and sweet always made something with the towels on our bed with fresh flowers (we stayed on level 4 beach view) the food is Cuban but there's always something for everybody pretty disappointed and not having the variety of fruit that we normally have or some of the fruit being less than ripe but still fine, we didn't find the pool to be kept very clean at all and not enough chlorine in the pool, the beach was very nice a bit rocky for our liking and not what we are used to for varadero beaches but still good! The staff are lovely.

It was our 2nd time in Varadero, Melia is so much better and surely 5* for Cuba. Despite 90% capacity booked, plenty space around and at the beach. Loud music till 23:00 but this was so at any resort I remember. Warm, nice staff

Holguin is quite lovely. Had not been to the area before. We stayed in Royal Service which was very quiet, peaceful, and private. If you are choosing Cuba then you are accepting that limitations exist with products, food availability, etc. Lovely staff, kind service, and first stop for drop off from the airport. Love the outdoor shower with our room.

Amazing beach, beautiful clean pools. Really nice staff Plenty of food just , not many options on drinks near beaches and pools but good beer and limited cocktails.water bottles replenished daily. Good entertainment overall .

Overall impression of the hotel and service: 3.5/5. The ocean and nature truly make up for many of the downsides. The blanket provided for covering was dirty and had a strong smell, similar to a toilet odor. When I asked for it to be replaced, they brought another one that was even worse, with visible vomit stains. The towels were replaced only once, when I entered the room while the cleaning staff was there and personally asked the cleaner to change them. That was the only time the room was fully cleaned, and it had actually been cleaned before I arrived. All other times, only the bed linen was changed, and even that had stains. Overall, the room is spacious and generally fine, but cleanliness is a serious issue. The nature and the outside views are absolutely beautiful. The ocean is stunning. However, on the last morning we saw a shark very close to the shore. When we informed the staff who work as lifeguards, they pretended not to understand what we were saying and responded with words like “barracuda” or “dolphin.” It is possible they did not understand that “shark” in English means tiburón. After that incident, we did not swim anymore. The dining area was generally fine. The food was nothing exceptional, but it was okay for me. I came mainly to see the ocean and nature. There was one chef grilling meat, and when I asked him to add sauce (which was standing right next to the grill), he replied in an annoyed tone that the meat comes without sauce. I pointed out the sauce, and he simply hid it. That was unpleasant.

Taking in account situation in Cuba in my opinion it is the best option. I can not talk about food inthe buffet since we never use it. We booked the Royal Service for 11 days and it was money well spent. All meals we ate in a la carr, including breakfast lunch and 5 different restaurants. No complains whatsoever. There was no butter only margarine and no Cola in the resort, sometimes they were out of certain alcohol brands but manageable. The resort is beautiful and well managed the staff is very friendly. Again for Cuba, very good choice. They have very high number of returning customers, warning mature customers and the Royal Service side is very quiet.

This is a beautiful property, well maintained by hard-working staff. The pool was amazing. The room was large and comfortable. The buffet was repetitive but the food at the a la carte restaurants was quite good.

The resort itself was great with beautiful design and modern amenities service from the staff was also fantastic and consistent. Resort does lack entertainment and the dance shows do get old after a week

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. The hotel rooms are somewhat dated but very adequate. We were not able to use the coffee make in our room as it required a specific pod that they were unable to obtain, however they supplied us with a kettle for our tea and coffee was readily available in many areas of the resort and room service is available if you wish. We have been to Cuba before and were aware that the Cuban people experience challenges obtaining goods, food, parts etc., what they lack in supplies they more than make up for with their cheerful, helpful attitudes. The food was good, rather bland in some cases, but we had expected that and brought some spices and condiments that we knew we would want. We had hot water and electricity throughout our stay. The WIFI was excellent at the beginning of our stay however as the hotel filled up after Christmas we were not able to connect regularly in our room - but not a problem as we went to Cuba to relax. We stayed on the lower royal side near the beach entrance, the resort grounds are large so we did a lot of walking but again it was not a problem and was nice to take a stroll after dinner. The resort is clean, there are many washrooms around the resort. The marina across the street has a few nice shops and a coffee shop that makes fantastic cappuccinos! All in all it was a very good vacation and I would definitely return in the future.

Just got back from my vacation. It was my first time back in Cuba for over 10 years. I like others have felt the food in Cuba was not very good and for that reason went to other destinations. Well I am glad I gave it another chance ! Not only was the food good bit the service was fantastic. Great location with golf and beach, wonderful staff that were very friendly. I will definitely be going back

Beach: It was never cleaned, piles and piles of debri from ocean on the beach 24 hr Snack Bar : Only had hot dogs and nothing else. Restaurants: Half the restaurants were closed for renovations Quality of food: Poor, most of the time only meat was Pork Food Preparation : No touch of North American cooking Staff : Most of the staff was polite except few who wanted money to serve international drinks Rooms: Smell of moisture but house keeping was ok Pool : Clean but was cold Towels: No towels at the pool or the beach had to bring own towel from room Beach Bar: There was bar around 200 meters from beach but no server. Had to go get the drinks Location: Good Enterntainment: OK

I have been to this resort at least 5 or 6 times .This most recent visit was truly a disappointment. Many of the regular staff are now gone leaving many newer , younger staff members who in my opinion have missed the boat with providing great customer service and maybe going out of their way to smile .They stopped serving French fries at the 24 hour bar .No new growth in the choices of meals at the buffet and the entertainment is less then desirable. The rooms require some serious renovations and just basic maintenance. It seems to me they are open just to be open....unlike other visits to this resort.

I did a female solo trip for the Christmas holidays. This is a lovely resort. I always felt safe. Clean, great staff, gorgeous beach you can walk for a long stretch. There was no shortage of food. Christmas special meals were lovely and everyone received a flower. Best of all was the peaceful relaxing feel you get while there. Many people I met had come for several years and the staff treat them like family. I would return any time.

Room was very clean & spacious ala cartes were amazing,friendly,fast bar service..clean pool & beach areas,beautiful beach!,ice cream parlour & snack bars were great,location was great for walking downtown & lots of options for rides if u didn’t want to walk,private excursion to Havana was wonderful but pricey

We stayed from December 22 to Dec 29 and the resort is beautiful. That said, we stayed in the Royal section, where the amenities are elevated. Food was plentiful, staff are wonderful. There is an older section that I would steer clear of... it needs some work. The al a carte restaurants are good. On the Royal side, you are assigned a butler who will look after anything you need. It's Adults Only, so it's very laid back. Cuba is very economical, so I would suggest always a 5*, or 4.5* at the very least, and upgrade to Royal, Premium or whatever the resort calls it for upgraded room/amenities.

Hotel older but well kept very clean Lobby , buffet spacius clean good WIFI good food for Cuba lacking with drinks do no Tonic Water somethimes no Coke ..limited fruits and non alchoclic drinks.Nice Beach .

Resort view was pretty the pool was great staff great very friendly how ever food was not good at all not much to choose last day was horrible found cockrochies in the room and the staff did nothing slept in the lobby

The lobby area is attractive and is centre for restaurants, entertainment and bars. The Ocean view room is well situated for pool and beach and 5 minute walk to lobby etc The beach and pool areas were great. The room was spacious and well equipped but a little run down but bed and seating were fine. The grounds in that area were not groomed and no direct view of beach but most of grounds were nice. Food was ok, nothing spectacular but plentiful (except no bacon, limited fruit and no potatoes so do not expect fries). Some professional musicians (flute, classical guitar, viola) were excellent and rest of entertainment average! Staff excellent and most spoke excellent English.

The resort itself is gorgeous! The beach is naturally beautiful, but water shoes are a must. Food was particularly yummy. Beautiful modern, clean rooms - especially the swim out rooms. Staff is incredible!

The resort grounds were beautiful and very well maintained, creating a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere throughout the property. The room was spacious with a nice balcony. The food was quite good. We were there on Christmas eve for which a truly special dinner was prepared. The staff were very welcoming and friendly.

We had an amazing stay at this all-inclusive resort in Cuba. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome with their warmth, friendliness, and constant smiles. The level of service throughout our stay was exceptional, and the team went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and enjoying every moment. The resort itself was beautifully maintained, and had everything we needed for a relaxing get away. The food offered good variety, and there was always something enjoyable to choose from at every meal.Thw drinks were plentiful, refreshing,and severed with great hospitality. I would also encourage guests to consider bringing small personal essentials and treats to share. Items such as Tylenol, feminine products, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste toothbrushes, powdered soups, crackers, peanut butter and sweets for the children are greatly appreciated.packing these items in ziplockss or tied socks makes it easy to distribute. These everyday necessities can make a meaningful difference for families and staff, many of whom work incredibly hard while earning approximately $35 USD per month. In addition take lots of one dollar USD bills for tips. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a safe, friendly, stress-free all-inclusive escape in Cuba.

For a resort in Cuba, I would rate this resort, a 9/10. I have stayed in Cayo Coco and Holguin before and this hotel definitely had the best rooms. The water pressure was great and the room was made up every day and was kept very clean by the exceptional maid service. There is a lovely coffee bar, an ice cream bar near the beach, a larger bar near the beach and then a small bar very close to the beach plus a lovely bar inside. The snack bar had good food, including hamburgers, fries and pizza. The buffet was completely adequate. The Cuban people give the very best that they have to tourists. There were no shortages. There were eggs, fruit, and bread everyday. The pizza was delicious and the pasta station was great. The entertainment is very lively and generous. There are many lovely areas to sit both inside and out while you are relaxing and enjoying time with your fellow travelers. The beach is spectacular. The water was warm and clear with ocean breezes creating waves. We felt very safe, knowing there was a lifeguard who was monitoring. There were fun activities on the beach as well, including stretching in the water and Zumba. I am not a drinker, but the others in my group enjoyed the bars and found the bartenders to be very friendly and accommodating. The nonalcoholic piña coladas were awesome. We had a spectacular holiday over Christmas and made many memories. We also did a day trip to Havana which I would highly recommend.

The hotel is equipped with all the facilities. View is pretty clean. Service is not very something someone would appreciate after paying high dollars. Some of the staff is unresponsive to your needs. Furthermore the food actually is super bad even though they had prime dining restaurants its actually super bad. Rooms are not the greatest for the amount you pay

Staff are all amazing people, very friendly and kind, well organized, they make your stay comfortable and safe. We have been to this resort 13 times now, and plan to go back again this March. Food is good, large selection of food every day. Gardeners do an amazing job throughout the resort. Activities on the beach good. Bathrooms are kept clean at all times. My score is a 10 out of 10 for this resort.

Chose the resort primarily for the sport activities, proximity to the beach and swimming pools. Exceeded my own and my family's expectations. While there is a nice basketball court, were no basketball hoops - we donated our basketball to the personnel. Played tennis and table tennis instead. Take your own sports gear if you enjoy sports. The beach was amazing, kept clean during our stay. Swimming pools steps from the ocean, showers and towel service available. Any issues or extra requests with your room, they will go beyond and above to fix it or make it good for you. Had modest expectations for food reading all the reviews - yet the food was decent with plenty of choices - exceeded my expectations.

Very good resort. Clean, and good service throughout. They try so hard with what they have to work with. Mostly powdered juices for mix at bars but the beer is always nice and cold and plentiful and always had red wine at the buffet. Lots of fresh food choices as well. I'm going back someday ?

Resort is smaller and quiet, not a a lot of activities, crowd is a bit older. Food was good for Cuba, staff friendly. Beach is very nice water was warm, one pool very large, tiles in the pool were a bit slippery. Not much for nighttime entertainment, nothing after 11pm

This was our third visit to Melia Cayo Coco. We have been to other resorts in Varadero since our last visit here and still find this to be the best resort. The beach is wide, powdery and kept in great condition by the staff. The animation staff are lots of fun and make an effort to get to know the guests. The vibe is relaxed and the resort is not too big (250 rooms) so it never feels over crowded. In the evenings there is musical entertainment every night in the lobby followed by an evening show. The bars are good and well stocked. The food is very good by Cuban standards (meaning they have supply issues beyond their control. They do a great job with what is available). We really enjoyed the International and Cuban a la carte restaurants.

To be honest I fall in love with this hotel. Its a small hotel well taken care of. The food was excellent for Cuban standard. I liked all of the dinning restaurants and the entertainment in the main lobby.The beach is fantastic and I always found a empty lounge chair.Will definitely come back.Also I travel solo.

Nice resort, well maintained grounds, friendly staff. decent food, good service, big clean rooms. We have returned to this resort many times in the last fifteen years and hope to return again sometime in the future.

I had a wonderful experience at this resort. I highly recommend going if you’re looking to relax. The crowd seemed to be largely 40+ with a mix of couples and solo travellers. It was an hour bus ride from the airport. I was surprised to find that my room had been upgraded to the ‘Royal Service’ section. The Royal room was incredibly nice, large closet, spacious bathrooms and tub and the outdoor shower was the best I’ve ever seen. The Royal restaurant had great al a carte food options. The Royal pool and beach were definitely quieter and more relaxed but great if you want the privacy. The main pool was large and had music and activities everyday. The main beach had a good spot for snorkeling and a hut to request equipment or go sailing. The food at restaurants was presented beautifully on the plates. I wasn’t expecting anything much from the cuisine in cuba, but it tasted pretty good. I highly recommend the Japanese experience. The entertainment was great, the dancers were so fun to watch. The resort grounds were well kept and had some nice paths for going on a walk. There’s also a small horse ranch just over the bridge with a few animals. They offer horse rides through trails or on the beach. The animals looked rather skinny, but the riding experience was pleasant! The gym was decent with a small selection of equipment, and free weights. The spa unfortunately was under renovation. The staff were all very friendly and provided exceptional service.

This resort exceeded our expectations. The grounds and superstructure are beautifully manintained. The room was renovated, clean and quiet. The mattress was new and very comfortable resulting in excellent sleep quality. We were on the 4th floor and had an ocean view even though we paid for a standard room. The way the resort is constructed and situated, I believe all rooms that were high enough had such a view. Staff were engaging, very friendly and hard working. The beach and pool were highlights with plenty of loungers available at any time of the day and zero beach vendors. The week we were there (11-18 Dec) mosquitos were a non-issue and the weather was perfect ... 25-27 degrees during the day and 20-22 at night with no humidity. We didn't even need the a/c at night! There were absolutely NO SHORTAGES. Lots of food including fresh vegtables and proteins, no electricity issues whatsoever, and the beer, wine, and spirits were readily available. There is room for improvement, however, as the food is somewhat repetitive and food temperature at the buffet was inconsistent. The gym also needs to be updated as the equipment is old and lacking. I can't recommended this resort enough, especially given the price point. Star ratings are highly subjective but this is one of the nicest resorts we have been to in the 4 star range in the Caribbean, including Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

Tryp was our first visit to Cuba 16 years ago. Many changes over the years, but the staff is always warm, welcoming and friendly. The grounds are always manicured. The pool is always clean and inviting. The beach is fantastic. The food selection has taken a hit over the years, but there is always something tasty to be found. The resort partner (I believe it is Spain) has ruined the buffet cutting it down to half the size.....the atmosphere has suffered and the A/C no longer does the job. Again, staff go the extra mileage, so this shortfall is minor. Insect in all parts of Cuba seem to be more of a problem in the past, probably due to the ongoing shortages in the country. Rooms are dated (resort is 40 years old) but they are kept very clean and everything was in working order.The animation team works hard to keep things fun at the pool in the afternoon. Other choices for meals are 4 ala carts (only one open per night right now) Cuban, International, Italian and Chinese. We managed to hit them all this visit and the food was good considering the cost of the vacay. The new beach grill is a relaxing choice for lunch. Cuba is not for everyone, but if you aren't overly picky, the beach, the pool, and especially the service will chilax you.Shout out to Osmany at the buffet grill, Erlin at the swim up bar, William, at the Buffet, Adrianna at the front desk, Willy and Ricardo at the new Beach Grill!!

Overall the hotel, grounds and people are wonderful. Unfortunately the shortages of food and supplies are beyond the control of the hotel personnel. The people of Cuba are wonderful hard workers and are doing their best to create a GREAT guest experience with what little supplies they are receiving to work with.

We stayed at Meliá Internacional Varadero as a family and had an excellent experience from start to finish. The resort is modern, spacious, and very well maintained, with a great layout that makes it easy to enjoy everything it has to offer. The pools were fantastic and suitable for all ages, and the beach was absolutely beautiful — clean, wide, and with crystal-clear water that Varadero is known for. It was easy to find loungers, and the beach area never felt overcrowded. Food and drink options were plentiful, with a good variety that worked well for our whole family. The restaurants were well organized, and the service across the resort was consistently friendly and welcoming. The staff truly made a difference and helped make our stay even more enjoyable. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well taken care of, and the overall atmosphere of the resort struck a perfect balance between relaxation and family-friendly activities. There was always something to do, but it never felt loud or overwhelming. Overall, we loved everything the resort had to offer and would absolutely return.
